Stanage Edge is a beautiful gritstone in the peak district. I just loved to climb up the peak and searched for a hidden cave. Experience the cave undergo and looking forward to beautiful nature makes you feel wow . Best place for climbing the peak. I recommend this place I visited with my twin girls and my husband, we enjoyed the peak climbing.
Good hike, loved the cliff walks and the views. Good photo opportunities as well. Easy parking. Highly recommended.
1st time to Stanage Edge and had a great time, the path took literally 2 hours or so. Once you get to the Beacon you should just do a 180 and turn back. You can find free parking close by or you can pay 4.50 for all day parking. Plenty of places to take photos and it can get very windy so be careful. Easily can recommend this walk to anyone defindtly one of the better peak district walks.
This area is stunning. I'd say a good walk for people of all levels of fitness.
Parking and toilet facility down on road was available. The hike upto the rocks was full of breathtaking views. Big boulders where you can sit and catch your breath plus click those cool hiker vibe photos.😀 I wish people keep their dogs on lead there so that tourists who arent comfortable around dogs donot get startled esp on such steepy mountaineous areas. Rock climbers were putting me to shame with their energy.😀✌️ Off the trail, there was a clearing with low hanging branches of tree...beautiful and silent. I didnot know until after arriving back home that this place was shown in Pride and Prejudice with Elizabeth Bennet. Shame...could have taken a photo in that pose.🥹😀
Very easy to get to, even on foot. Beautiful view. If you’re here for pride and prejudice, you really get why Elizabeth Bennet went up there to think. Highly recommend this hike.
I came here at the end of June. The weather was quite pleasant, with a mix of sunshine and a few clouds. My friend told me that this place has a long history and is one of the most magical places I've ever been. I'll definitely come back someday.
Stunning location, beautiful views, amazing rock formations ideal for climbers, or can easily take a path to the top and walk along the edge, can do a small circuits with in an hour or can walk full length of about 8 miles. Hiking boots highly recommended road side parking not to far away

Came here today for a morning swim. Was excellent. Pool was a little cool but we soon warmed up as we swam. Great place. And cafe next door served lovely food and drinks. Highly recommend this gem of a place.
A heated outdoor pool in lovely surroundings. A real gem in Hathersage. Check the website whether you need to book. In summer you definitely will. Changing rooms and an excellent cafe just outside. Highly recommend.
Visited Hathersage outdoor swimming pool today as part of a Sauna event. Both the sauna and swim sessions were a great experience for the beginning of March. It's nice to experience the outdoor pool at this time of year and the experience of the additional sauna and plunge pool at this event was the cherry on top, This was an experience I would recommend to anyone who enjoys outdoor swimming or sauna experiences. With the views if the surrounding Peak District scenery adds to the experience. I would definitely do this again.
Unique swimming experience with the most spectacular views. Worth a visit whatever the weather. A July Saturday and a balmy 15c air temperature. The pool was indeed the place to be. Pre booking tickets is easy to do and advisable as some public swimming sessions are, rightly, very popular. Even when busy there is a lane or two for those wanting to exercise. Great place to visit and a decent cafe if you need refueling afterwards
We booked the evening swim with love music. It's very busy and not much space to do lengths. But we enjoyed it as a family as a fun swim. The music was great. We ate in the cafe beforehand and the food is good and reasonably priced.
Nice to be able to see the clouds and sky whilst swimming but a little too cold for my liking. Great experience and probably amazing in summer. When there are people jumping in, the wind blows the spray in your face. Nice hot showers for after and large changing rooms.
Lovely, large outdoor pool - relaxing place to spend afternoon. Ample changing rooms and space, hot showers and poolside lockers. Everything you need. The café is good and offers plenty of choice.
Lovely pool, lovely people, warm showers (outside) It is not our nearest swimming pool. But being outside, the lovely location, the friendly staff. It is a fab place to visit and always worth the drive.

Everything about the David Mellor place is beautiful, from the grounds to the buildings to the cafe. The food was excellent too and reasonably priced considering the excellent quality.
A most enjoyable experience. Interesting design features with some history thrown in too.
Would have loved to have done the factory tour but it wasn’t on when we went. But there’s still an interesting display and explanations of street furniture outside, and cutlery exhibits in the cafe. Food was incredible - the broccoli and stilton soup was to die for. Quite pricey and the shop was SO expensive - but everything is wrapped so intricately in paper by the staff it was a pleasure to watch. I will say it’s hard to get a seat in the cafe and we ended up sitting with strangers. Would definitely like to go back for the tour and more food!
We visited on a busy bank holiday, but found a table to share with another couple. Just coffee & cakes this visit, but was delicious & we were served quickly. Never felt like we were being rushed, despite it being busy. Lovely place to meet friends for a catch up.
Fantastic shop and tour of the on-site cutlery factory, coupled with the Riverside Cafe which serves very high quality, delicious food during the day. A brilliant way to spend a few hours.
Have always wanted to visit David Mellor Hathersage. Got there yesterday and did not disappoint - great site, great buildings, wonderful shop and cafe and of course the exhibition and story of this remarkable British designer and his work. Very engaged, informed and welcoming staff and looked after so well by Thomas and by Claire who had pre-organised our nephew’s wedding present and made it all so easy. The way this former town gasworks has been transformed into a design factory and visitor attraction within what is now a mature landscape setting has a zen-like atmosphere of design, making, and ‘being’. I am a committed discipline of Mellor’s belief that good design should be part of the everyday. Just a great day and one to remember.
Best cheese scone I've had in my life! I've not been in the late pm before - normally think of it as a fancy place for lunch - but it was a lovely chill place to come for a cuppa and a chat.
If you’ve got an interest in modernist homeware and industrial design, superb products for your kitchen or a cracking lunch, this is the place for you. Well worth the trip. Love the shop, cafe and indoor and outdoor museum space. Free museum area access and parking

A lovely Church. It has it's own parking, but if you cannot find it the nearby roads have parking. There's quite a steep hill up towards the church.. Little Johns Grave can be found on the left as you walk in through the main archway. It's a nice sized church and the grounds are well kept. Very peaceful. A pleasure to see !
Lovely church with much history to read and see inside and out. Beautiful stained glass windows, remembrance books, organ and architecture. Little John's grave is just opposite entrance to church between 2 yews. Fully accessible for wheelchairs, scooters and other mobility aids via main churchyard entrance. Some steps via carpark entrance.
grave of Little John, lovely peaceful church well worth visiting
Our long and winding walk across the grit edges took us back toward Hathersage via the Churchyard, and inevitably the famous long grave. There clearly is some connection to the Robin Hood legend, on a previous day, we had walked up to, and scrambled on Robin Hood Stride, a pile of rocks near to Cratcliffe. It is a fascinating twist on the story, and a lovely corner of a rather magnificent Victorian churchyard
Lovely little church with Little John's grave. A bit of a walk up a steep hill if you have the legs, but worth the trek. A car park is available for those who require it. Dogs allowed on leads, so went for a morning walk with my dog while in town.
Beautiful little church. The sound of the bells ringing was lovely. Would have had a look round inside, but there was Sunday Service on. Nice to visit Little John's Grave too.
Well worth the walk up the hill to the church. Little John's grave was interesting and the Commonwealth grave section was moving.
Lovely quiet church We often sit here and eat our packed lunch. This week we started from Longshaw, beautiful place to start followed the Hounds Kirk road and cut across Bubage Rocks to the Fiddlers Elbow car park and the bridge over the Bar brook. Then with Higgers Tor on our left descended to St Milchaels Church and lunch returning via the Mill Stone Inn and the drain. 9 miles 1850 feet of assent Lovely days walk about 6 hours

Went for Sunday lunch today and had such a brilliant experience. Danni was incredibly welcoming from the moment we arrived, which made us feel right at home even though it was our first time visiting. The food was absolutely stunning, full of flavour, beautifully cooked, and generous portions. We were genuinely impressed. We will 100% be returning. Highly recommend!
Great family Sunday lunch. Lovely meat and fantastic high quality vegetables cooked to perfection. Choc fondent perfect. Friendly welcome. Dog friendly. Our third meal here and will be back.
Stopped in for dinner at The Scotsman’s Pack Country Inn in Hathersage and had a wonderful experience. The fish and chips were absolutely amazing perfectly cooked, light, and full of flavour. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, checking in regularly to make sure everything was just right. It’s a lovely traditional pub with a warm, relaxed atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. A great place to eat in the heart of Hathersage highly recommended!
Whilst on holiday we chose the Scotsmans Pack for 7 adults, 3 children (one of whom was 18 months old) and 2 dogs. From the very moment we walked through the door we felt welcomed and valued, and absolutely everything was fantastic. The selection of food, the friendliness of the staff, the time it took for the food to arrive (particularly for 3 impatient children) and the value for money far exceeded our expectations. They even put us into a separate area so we didn't have to worry about the youngest disturbing other diners. All in all, thank you to the staff at Scotsmans Pack for a fantastic experience.
We went for a late lunch, we had a lovely time with a great welcome from the lad behind the bar. The three of us went for the set menu of two courses, the food was great value and well presented we will definitely go back again. The only negative was that the carpark was full with people picking their kids up from school fortunately we had taken the small car so it was not much of a problem, next time we will go before school pickup time
Been coming here for years. The last two visits have gone downhill. Previously eating here was easy. Sit down, ask for food and eat. Now, like many other places it has become excessively complicated and overdone. A month ago, we walked in and were told food was now table service, including drinks. Despite all us of knowing what we wanted, we then waited 15 minutes to get drinks, i had to go to the bar to find mine. When it came to paying we gave up waiting for the bill we had asked for, and went to the bar which took another 15 minutes. Of our group, my partner and i only had drinks, no food, we would happily have paid on entry at the bar, but instead we stood queuing. Our more recent visit was worse, again, table service only for food, the waitress came across as impatient and frustrated, continually asking to take all sandwhich orders first before orders for mains, when half of us hadnt decided on food orders anyway. One of us ordered only a bar snack, no main, focaccia and olives, this turned out to be 5 olives and some wafer thin toast, when prompted another waitress went to the kitchen and brought back actual focaccia, no questions asked, so why serve some completely different bread to start with? Comes across as cheap and very cheeky, just serve whatever and assume no one will notice? Sausage and mash turned up with about 10% of a normal mash portion and a slither of each of the veg it was advertised to come with. Seriously, a massive part of your demographic is walkers, climbers, hikers, none of whom want to pay nearly £20 for a main the size of a starter, half of us left still hungry. When it came to pay, we were then told we couldnt each pay for the items we had ordered but that the bill could only be split into equal payments, an utterly stupid system considering one of us had only had a snack while the rest of us had multiple drinks and a full meal. Again stop trying to over complicate things. Please just go back to being a simple pub serving good pub food. Stop trying the restrict and control the way everything is done. It makes customers feel like cattle.
Really lovely pub, very cosy atmosphere and fantastic food. I think of myself as a bit of a scotch egg officianado and their black pudding one was up there as one of the best I've had. Service was a bit slow but then we had kids so we're always in a slightly hurry to get on. Probably not that far outside the realms of normal. All in all a great find, we'll come again.
Had a lovely meal at the Scotsman’s pack this afternoon. Three courses for £20, excellent value for really good food. The only two things I would say was the service is on the slow side and we were cold. We amongst others I’m sure would have welcomed the fire being on especially on a dreary cold Novembers day

Owler Tor is an absolutely stunning spot in the Peak District and well worth a visit if you’re in the area. The walk up is short and not too demanding, but the reward at the top is incredible. From the gritstone outcrops you get panoramic views across the Hope Valley, Stanage Edge, and Higger Tor. On a clear day it really feels like you can see for miles. I went during early morning to see sunrise and the light was magical – golden sun across the moorland and deep shadows around the rock formations. Friends who’ve been for sunrise say it’s even more spectacular. The rocks themselves are fascinating shapes, perfect for photos and for kids (and adults!) to scramble over. In summer, the purple heather makes the whole area glow with colour, which adds even more beauty to the landscape. Access is also easy: there’s parking at Surprise View car park just a few minutes away, and from there it’s a straightforward path. The ground can be uneven, so good footwear helps, and it can get windy on top, but nothing too challenging. One tip is to bring a jacket even if the weather seems fine – the open moorland is very exposed. It can get busy at peak times, but even then you can usually find a quiet spot to sit and take in the views. For a short, accessible walk with a huge visual payoff, Owler Tor is hard to beat. Highly recommend for walkers, photographers, or anyone who wants a taste of the best the Peak District has to offer.
Wonderful spots for a one day trip. Beautiful landscape with pink flowers. You can park your car along the roadside for free. Good spots of picnic and relax walking. Free entry.
Absolutely stunning spot! The views from Owler Tor are breathtaking and the rocks make it a really fun place to explore. It’s perfect for a short hike, a picnic, or just to enjoy the Peak District scenery. Highly recommend visiting if you’re in the area!
Great place for a breather in snake Pass. There is a car park just opposite to park.
Wonderful walk up through woodland, heather, ferns and some large rocks to some large tors and spectacular 360 degree views over Derbyshire. Walking easy. Climbing the tors is not for the faint hearted but youngsters scamper up easily!
Fabulous outcrop of rocks. Parking in layby along the road was free. A short walk up to the rocks then lots of bouldering opportunities. We spent a few hours here in the evening, it was a real highlight of our recent trip to the Peak District
It’s a place of amazing natural beauty. We did a circular walk from Grindleford station through Pudley gorge. The heather is still in bloom but it’s fading.
Nice walking, great rock formations. Car parking at the bottom for easy access. Remember where you are walking, the weather can turn fast, and wear strong footwear. The machine is card only, not cash.
