I saw how seared bonito was cooked for the first time in my life. It was great to see. Also restaurant upstairs had great food.
Nice rest stop with a local cuisine restaurant. 1F is selling lots of domestic produce and survenior. 2F is where you could enjoy a feast before you hit the road. Recommended dishes are clay pot udon noodle with broth and semi grilled fish rice don; price is very legit for the quality.
Lots of things to buy. Plenty of samples. Very busy!
(Translated by Google) Their specialty, nabeyaki ramen, was absolutely delicious! ✨ I tried it with offal, and it was absolutely delicious! 👅 Sesame oil? Chili oil? Chimi? It was a little spicy, and completely different from the one I had at a parking lot somewhere. I knew this roadside station had been popular for a long time, but I didn't realize it was this popular. If you're in the area, definitely check it out!
(Translated by Google) A roadside station in Susaki. I visited for lunch. I came here because I really wanted to try the nabeyaki ramen I had seen on TV before. I ordered the nabeyaki ramen set that came with a small moray eel bowl. The taste...was different from what I expected. The noodles had an instant-like taste and nothing particularly special. As for the moray eel bowl...well, it was kind of similar to an oyakodon (chicken and egg bowl). I don't know about the moray eel bowl, but it seems like nabeyaki ramen is sold in restaurants, so it might be better to try it there. As it's a roadside station, it's a good place to take a break and buy souvenirs.
(Translated by Google) The Suzaki Nabe Ramen on the second floor is known for its broth, which is simmered with chicken bones and has a rich soy sauce flavor. It's fragrant but incredibly salty, and the saltiness instantly wakes you up. 🤣🤣 But diluting it with water gives it just the right texture for your taste. 🥰🥰 The thin noodles are perfectly chewy, and the broth is complemented by chicken, green onions, a raw egg, and chikuwa (bamboo slices). The noodles and broth, combined, offer a truly authentic taste of Japan. 🥰🥰 The most distinctive feature is the ceramic bowl it's served in, which keeps the ramen warm and allows guests to... Everyone gets hot soup, which warms both the heart and the stomach. 🥰🥰 The garnish for the pot-baked ramen is aged pickled radish, which is also incredibly salty. One bite instantly wakes you up. 🤣🤣 #Back in the agricultural world, people ate a lot of salt. #Replenishes minerals lost through physical activity. The first floor sells produce, a variety of drinks, teas, and even adorable otter stuffed animals. However, I saw the airport staff give me a honey yuzu drink upon arrival. It cost 160 yen, which is about 32 Taiwan dollars.

Love the tranquil vibe :) And watching the omikuji dissolve and return to nature in the ocean is kinda therapeutic. But getting there is difficult. Couldn't get a taxi. It was out of range of the Go app.... so I walked 10 km there and back. Better winter than summer. It was worth it! But if you can please get a cab.
Otonashi Jinja Shrine in Susaki City, Kochi Prefecture, is a serene coastal gem that blends spiritual heritage with natural beauty. Often referred to as the “Miyajima of Tosa”, this shrine is uniquely positioned with its torii gate facing the sea, creating a stunning and peaceful backdrop that feels both sacred and cinematic. The shrine dates back to the 13th century and features several structures designated as national important cultural properties, making it a meaningful stop for history lovers and spiritual seekers alike. The grounds are quiet and well-kept, perfect for a reflective stroll or a moment of calm. With free parking and easy access year-round, it’s a convenient and worthwhile stop for anyone exploring Shikoku’s southern coast. Whether you're drawn by its history, its peaceful setting, or its unique seaside charm, Otonashi Jinja offers a deeply satisfying experience.
Otonashi Shrine is a special shrine in Kochi, Japan that is worshipped as the god of marriage. It is also called "Miyajima of Tosa" because of its unique approach extending toward the sea. The shrine was built 15 centuries ago based on a legend of a god named Hitokotonushi no Mikoto who arrived in the area by ship after escaping a battle. The god is believed to grant your wishes if you can ask in one word. Every autumn, a wedding ceremony of the gods called "Chiriheppo" is held there. Visitors can draw an omikuji (fortune-telling slip) and release it into the sea as they make a wish. The paper is made to dissolve in water to avoid harming the environment.
Serene view of the water. Went on a rainy day and the view was amazing
Large shrine with the options to buy charms and little souvenirs.
(Translated by Google) While driving from Ehime Prefecture to Kochi Prefecture, I stopped by a shrine I've been seeing a lot on social media lately. It's so famous it hardly needs any introduction. Apparently it's also known as Tosa's Miyajima, though I'm not sure what the chief priest or locals think about being called that. (^o^;) As I walked along the narrow coastal road, I saw a red torii gate. On weekdays, I could park my car just past the gate, but if there were a lot of visitors, I'd recommend using the parking lot just before the gate. I honestly didn't have high expectations before my visit, but when I actually stood here, passed through the gate from the ocean side, and entered the shrine grounds, guess what? The atmosphere inside the grounds felt completely different. According to Google Maps, the location of the red torii gate is where the municipal cruise ship docks. This ship is used by local children to get to school, but apparently it's open to the general public. If you have time, it might be a good idea to take a cruise around the bay. For details, please search for "Susaki City Municipal Cruise Ship."

There is parking space for a few cars, but it's a long, narrow road to get there, so if you get an oncoming car at the wrong time, it seems like you're in big trouble... The shrine itself is a solemn shrine, but the approach from the sea is truly magnificent. There was even a group that arrived from the opposite shore in a one-person stand-up rowboat. I'm unnecessarily worried that if it becomes even more popular, it will be a lot of trouble (lol). I highly recommended to visit this Sunday market. It was quite long and spanned through a few streets. A must when come to kochi. 400yen per serving. The tempura was delicious. 3 stars Stall no. 96 was famous for its country sushi, shitake mushroom, shimotake, inari sushi. This sushi was our greatest discovery and best sushi we ever tried. Although the sushi looked simple and dull but the taste was very great. 550 yen per serving. 5 stars Stall no. 200 Happy Warabi Mochi 350 yen was delicious. This jelly like dessert was not too sweet, and the texture was perfect. 4 stars Hat like bread was mediocre at 200 yen. 2 stars
20230323 Luckily we visited the city on a Sunday and there were lots booths. A lot fresh fruits from local farms I guess.
Stretching across a few streets, there were many stalls . Most of the stalls sell agricultural products - vegetables, fruits., flowers. We went there hoping to get a good breakfast but was disappointed. The only stall with places to sit to eat is at a udon stall. As such , there were many customers, q up for 30 minutes before we got our order. Seats were limited. A other stall selling hot food is a stall selling meat skewers and Okonomiyaki. The other food choice is cakes , bread, biscuits. No stalls selling hot coffee/ tea. It is a good place for locals to get their daily groceries but for tourists ,just a place to look, see , go take photos
Nice little walk on Sunday. Fresh veggies and fruits. Some good street food. Cozy
Update: September 17, 2025 If you are planning to be here in Kochi for the Sunday Market, please do yourself a favor and make a reservation at Se Relaxer restaurant for dinner. Order one of their specialties, Tosa Akaushi roast beef with Niida rice cooked in an earthen pot. It is delicious. And the crème brûlée is very good as well. One day when this restaurant appears on the Michelin’s guide, it will take a miracle to get a reservation here. OMG, if you come to Kochi specifically for the Sunday Farmer’s Market like I do, I highly recommend that you stay in a hotel or AirBnb that has a kitchen so that you can fry some of the fish and make soup out of the fresh bamboo shoots that are sold here. The top delicious food that you must get is the fried sweet potatoes. They are so so good, slightly salty and crispy batter on the outside and soft and sweet on the inside. There are white peaches and many many more fruits and vegetables.
Local farmers market covers long stretch with a food centre situated fronting the street market. Had an early lunch of semi raw bonito- super yummy. If you are looking for japanese knives or iron hardware, there is a section of it. I bought an Ikebana kenzan half the price if I have to buy from Singapore.
Japan’s longest outdoor market, this weekly highlight of Kochi City’s social calendar takes up 1.3km along the Otesuji road. There are about 300 stalls that line the street, beneath rows of large trees and palms. The stalls change weekly, but there are a few foods that you absolutely should try: - Imoten (sweet potato tempura). It is easy to spot this stand, as it always has line of people waiting for freshy fried bites of Japanese sweet potato. -Inaka-sushi. Sold in packs, this is a mainly plant-based local version of Japan’s most famous dish, which translates directly as “countryside sushi.” -Yuzu-flavored foods. Kochi is famous within Japan for producing yuzu, a citrus fruit. A cup of yuzu-lemonade is very refreshing in the summer. -Fruit tomatoes. You will find stalls selling these super-sweet tomatoes individually, kept cool on ice. -Imo-mochi (sweet potato mochi). A local twist on the rice dumplings found all over Japan, these treats are made with a mix of sweet potato and mochi rice. -Hashimaki (chopstick rolls). Freshly cooked savory okonomiyaki pancakes are rolled around a pair of chopsticks, and topped with your choice of cheese or a sunny-side up egg. - Aisukurin. This retro frozen dessert is halfway between ice cream and sherbet, and is one of the prefectures favorite sweets. Be sure to arrive in the morning or early afternoon, to make sure the best stalls aren’t sold out.
Mostly fruit and vegetables stalls. There are some stalls for yakitori or fried sweet potato. We ate the fried potato, it was very tasty.

Sky Bay Golf Club offers spectacular views of the surrounding bays. The two courses are challenging for beginners with lots of twists and turns as you travel around each hole. The staff are very friendly, with a very spacious restaurant to dine in for lunch, a large golf shop to buy extra kit you might need and lots of places to sit, rest, chat within the club house.
This is the sister course of Sky Hill further down the Kochi coast, though it may be better described as a rich uncle due to the stunning views of the bay that I never tired of. It's laid out on two spurs into what is almost a mini inland sea near the port town of Susaki. From one spur we looked across at what appeared to be a terrifying par three up a steep hill to a green protected by a stone wall. It turned out to be a short par 4, an easy lay up off the tee followed by a wedge up to the green (in theory!). The clubhouse was fittingly bright and spacious for such a location and the lunch options included interesting steak combinations enjoyed with a backdrop of Kites wheeling at eye level from outside our window seat. This is a spectacular golf course for those who are not necessarily big hitters, but like to pit their wits against a variety of grains, gradients and visual deceptions.
Sky Bay Golf Club is a beauty. The views of the surrounding inlets and seaways make this one of the best clubs I have ever played from a purely aesthetic angle. Stunning. The course itself is difficult, with lots of ups and downs. The greens were just okay but the fairways and layout were very good. I would recommend this course to any golfer who wants a special course to linger in the memory.
(Translated by Google) The most wonderful scenery. It is true that OB is the easiest to hit in Japan, but since there is no distance, you can get a good score even if you don't swing the wood.
(Translated by Google) For some reason, they were offering 1B during the high season, so I went there. Regardless of the reservation time, you can leave as soon as you are ready, and I thought it was empty even though it was a weekday, but the green of 5 holes (9th, 13th, 16th, 17th, 18th) was unavailable. The golf course was badly damaged and a temporary green was built on the fairway and the golf course is open for par, with a par of 69. (As of mid-October 2024) So is it vacant? It seems that maintaining the condition of the greens is difficult everywhere due to this summer's intense heat. However, I wish it had been written in the plan explanation. The temporary green is simply a relatively flat part of the fairway that has been pruned and cupped. Although undulations need to be taken into account, lines have a large random element, so it seems fun to play among friends. Although the course is called Bay, the sea element is basically a landscape story, and the course is completely mountainous. I'm familiar with courses that are narrow and have many OBs, but there were only about one course where the driver was a candidate for the tee shot, and I actually used two. Since there is no navigation for the cart, the position of the cart in front of you is not clear, so I think it's best to play golf in a way that allows you to take your time and enjoy the view in between, both for score-making and safety. Other than the fact that the grass on the greens is not in good condition due to the intense heat (currently being repaired), the facilities are showing their age but are well kept, and the staff are all very kind, making it a very nice course. I would like to try again after the grass has healed.
