Very Beautiful... Temples are closed and available for just site seeing. This site comes under ASI surveillance. Remember Don't go according to Google Map, because map shows all major 3 temples in different places but actually Karan Temple, Shiv Temple and Pataleshwar temple all are in one place, situated just behind the Narmada Udgam Mandir. Tickets are required to visit.

This temple is under construction. You can visit only from outside.
For the uninitiated, this temple has been a work in progress since 1991!!! It is still incomplete and the main temple isn't open to the public. The temple is being built in the shape of the Sri Chakra and is also called the Sri Yantra Mahameru Shaktipeeth. The entrance to the temple consists of a huge gopuram having a narrow pathway that leads into the temple complex. This pathway currently ends with the idols of the Goddesses Saraswati and Mahalakshmi. The temple is surrounded by verdant hills. The gopuram is surmounted by the sculptures of four massive heads representing the Goddesses Saraswati, Mahalakshmi, Kali and Bhuvaneshwari facing the four cardinal directions.
🔱 Shri Yantra Mandir (Tripur Sundari Temple), Amarkantak 📜 Historical & Spiritual Background Location: Situated near the sacred confluence of the Narmada, Son, and Johila rivers at Amarkantak, Madhya Pradesh — a place revered as the “Teerthraj” (King of Pilgrimage Sites). Dedicated to: Goddess Tripura Sundari — an aspect of Adi Shakti (Divine Mother) representing supreme beauty, energy, and the source of all creation. Spiritual Symbol: The temple is based on the sacred Shri Yantra, a mystical geometric diagram central to Shaktism and Sri Vidya tradition in Hinduism. The Shri Yantra (or Sri Chakra) symbolizes the union of Shiva and Shakti, the cosmic balance of masculine and feminine energies, and the path to spiritual realization. The temple was established by Swami Sachidananda Saraswati, a spiritual master inspired to create a three-dimensional form of the Sri Yantra to represent divine harmony in physical form. --- 🛕 Architecture & Design The temple is an architectural wonder, built entirely in the form of a 3D Shri Yantra — a unique structure not found anywhere else in India. It combines geometry, art, and spirituality: The pyramidal design symbolizes the nine interlocking triangles of the Yantra. The inner sanctum houses the idol of Tripura Sundari Devi, radiating calm and energy. The structure is designed so that each level represents a stage of spiritual ascent, leading to the Bindu (point of cosmic unity). The temple’s symmetry and alignment reflect Vastu Shastra principles, believed to amplify spiritual vibrations. --- 🪷 Religious & Cultural Importance The Shri Yantra is considered the most powerful symbol in Tantra and Shaktism, representing: Creation and dissolution of the universe. Spiritual balance and prosperity. Inner awakening and meditation focus. Devotees visit the temple for energy healing, meditation, and spiritual upliftment. The temple holds significance during Navratri and Makar Sankranti, when special rituals and yantra pujas are performed. --- 🌄 Sightseeing Importance Spiritual Vibe: The serene setting of Amarkantak, surrounded by forests and river origins, enhances the temple’s sacred aura. Unique Architecture: The only full-scale temple built as a 3D representation of the Shri Yantra — a delight for both devotees and architecture enthusiasts. Meditation & Photography: The site is calm, visually striking, and perfect for reflection and photography, especially in early morning light. Nearby Attractions: Narmada Udgam Temple – origin of the Narmada River. Sonmuda (source of Son River) Kapil Dhara & Dudh Dhara waterfalls Ancient temples of Kalachuri period --- 🕰️ Visitor Information Timings: 5:00 AM – 8:00 PM (daily) Entry Fee: Free Best Time to Visit: October – March for cool, clear weather. Another picturesque waterfall in Amarkantak, Madhya Pradesh, is Doodh Dhara. It is among the most visited locations on a journey to Amarkantak. The sacred Narmada River forms Doodh Dhara Falls, which is the river's second cascade after Kapil Dhara Falls. The stream is ten feet high and incredibly white. This waterfall is roughly 200 meters away from Kapil Stream and descends from it. This name is associated with other widely held notions. This was the place where the irritable sage Durvasa did penance. Mother Narmada is said to have come before the sage Durvasa, pleased with his penance, and gave him milk; as a result, the river Narmada was given the name Doodh Dhara.
Located about a kilometre and a half from Kapil Dhara, it is believed to be the second waterfall on the Narmada river. When I visited at the end of October, there wasn't much water and the white colour was missing. Generally during the rainy season, the height of this waterfall is only about 10 feet, so the name 'waterfall' is a misnomer and meant to draw unsuspecting tourists to the area. A notice board at the site also states that the cave of Durvasa Muni is located here and that Narmada maa gave him Darshan in the form of Kamadhenu. Entry is free, though the path is rocky and requires extreme caution!
A beautiful, spiritually significant waterfall—the Narmada's second cascade—but the challenging, rough path makes it unsuitable for the elderly or those with mobility issues. Worth the effort for nature lovers! Dudh Dhara, meaning 'Stream of Milk,' is a small but historically and spiritually rich waterfall formed by the holy Narmada River, located just a short distance (about 200m) downhill from the more famous Kapil Dhara. While the natural beauty is serene, visitors should be prepared for the trek involved. The Best Parts (The Positives): * The Milky White Water: The waterfall earns its name from the appearance of its 10-foot-high stream. The water plunges with such force that it froths into a milky white foam, creating a beautiful and photogenic sight, especially during or right after the monsoon season. * Spiritual Significance: This spot is steeped in mythology. It is believed to be the place where the revered sage Maharshi Durvasa meditated. Legend says that Mother Narmada, pleased with his penance, appeared and offered him milk, hence the name. * Durvasa Muni's Cave and Shivling: Near the falls, there is a small cave associated with Sage Durvasa. Inside, a Shivling constantly receives a natural abhishekam (consecration) from the water trickling down, offering a deeply cooling and spiritual experience. * Serene and Natural Environment: The location is nestled within dense forests and thick woods on the western edge of the Amarkantak valley. It's a great spot for a quiet picnic, nature photography, and soaking in the cool, soothing sounds of the falling water. Areas for Improvement & Cautions (The Negatives): * Challenging Accessibility/Trek: This is the most significant drawback. Dudh Dhara is not directly accessible by road; you have to walk or trek a few hundred meters from the Kapil Dhara parking area. * Rough Terrain: The path from Kapil Dhara to Dudh Dhara is a steep, rocky, and rough descent. It lacks proper walkways and can be extremely slippery, particularly during or after the rainy season. * Not for Everyone: Due to the rough terrain and long walking distance (20+ minutes from the parking area to both falls), this site is not recommended for small children, the elderly, or anyone with knee/mobility problems. * Monkey Menace: Like many natural spots in Amarkantak, aggressive monkeys are present. They are known to snatch food and belongings. Be highly vigilant and keep all items secured. * Cleanliness at Upper Areas: Some visitors have noted that the area near the top before the descent can be dirty, which detracts from the overall natural beauty. Visitor Tips: * Wear Appropriate Footwear: Strong, non-slip trekking or walking shoes are mandatory due to the rough and potentially slippery path. * Combine with Kapil Dhara: Dudh Dhara is only about 200-225 meters from Kapil Dhara, making it an easy addition to your visit once you are in the area. Plan for a total of 1-2 hours for both falls. * Best Time to Visit: The monsoon (July-September) or post-monsoon (October-March) period is ideal. In monsoon, the water is at its maximum and the 'milky' effect is most prominent, though the path will be more slippery. * Explore the Cave: Don't miss the small cave with the Shivling and the statue of Sage Durvasa for a unique spiritual experience. * Safety First: Be very careful near the edge of the waterfall and while walking on wet rocks. Do not carry any visible food to avoid the monkeys. Overall: Dudh Dhara is a deeply spiritual and naturally beautiful place that offers a sense of accomplishment once you reach the bottom. If you enjoy a moderate trek and are looking for a tranquil spot to witness the Narmada's sacred flow, it's definitely worth the visit. Be prepared for a challenging path.

The station that is nearest to Amarkantak, the origin of the Narmada, the Sone and the Johila rivers. The station is quite big with 5 platforms, though a lot of development work is going on on platforms 2 - 5. Platform 1 Is quite clean, though there are no clean washrooms. There is also no proper waiting room as work is going on. The station has most of the passenger amenities.

Not bad it's a good station
A sweet and small station , very neat and clean as compared to other cities . The corps are also very helpful in nature No need to worry about anything ,pure and fresh drinking water is available 24 hours a day ,. Everything is great and you can find a different peace here , The best thing is that it's not too muchh crowded any one can travel from safely even he or she is alone ,it's doesn't matter. Thank you
A small station yet very connectivity friendly station of chhattisgarh and Madhyapardesh border area especially amarkantak in general and areas around in particular. This railway line is upgraded to Annupur district of M.P. which will finish by 2020 AD. The area is small but very significant due to famous Narmada birth place or Amarkantak shivalinga visit. This line of South Central East railways connects with Indore and other areas of MP. Only 3platforms so far it has under this station.
It is small but important railway station. This is the nearest station to some important places. One of them is Amarkantak, a place of pilgrimage. Another place is Indira Gandhi National Tribal University, a central university located about 22 kilometres away. The station has regular connection with Delhi, Bhopal, Bilaspur, Katni, Raipur, Jabalpur. The station is well maintained and beautiful. But considering the importance of the places to which it provides connectivity, the services and infrastructure at the station needs an upgrade. The frequency and quality of connections to nearby places also needs to improve.
