The museum is well laid out and presented. Clear explanations, pictures & graphics on: - the formation, duration and liberation of the camp. - every aspect of life within the camp. Entrance is free. Well worth the visit. Highly recommended.
Need to decide between seeing Sachsenhausen and Ravensbrück best go here. The female inmates witness stories and the building infrastructure left standing give a much deeper impression of all the horrors and inhumanities of concentration camp life in the period.
Really worth to visit, touching… we must never forget. Well organized and preserved. The city is charming, but some restaurants and hotels - only cash.
Very interesting, really recommend this place.
78 years go, after several months imprisoned in Ravensbrück, my grand-mother was delivered by the Red Army in April 1945. As a member of the French Resistance, she was denounced and deported to this concentration camp. In January 1939, Himmler let build up the Ravensbrück concentration camp in Brandenburg, North of Berlin, the only camp for women. The first inmates - German and Austrian women - arrived in May 1939. Some 130,000 prisoners, mostly women but also men and children, were imprisoned in Ravensbrück. In six years, Ravensbrück was transformed into a vast concentration camp complex, surrounded by satellites (kommandos) serving the German industry. The inmates were forced to work more than twelve hours a day, punctuated by dawn and evening calls, to develop and maintain the site; they served as slave labor in the sewing workshops and electrical assembly industries such as Siemens and Halske, as well as in the arms industries such as Heinkel, BMW, Mercedes and Skoda. Some were subjected to the medical experiments of Dr. Karl Gebhardt. Polish girls, nicknamed "rabbits" and political prisoners NN, Nacht und Nebel. They were subjected to sterilization experiments, muscle and bone transplants... After such a "nerve-wracking experience", my grand-mother passed her grand-children the following message: "There is no foreigner on this planet 🌍. ☮️ Peace can not be kept by force. Everyone shall contribute to achieve it by understanding" What a heritage from such a woman 👩 who survived this part of History.
A sad place , but people must see.
A very moving visit beautiful scenery. Well worth visit. Museum fabulous very informative.
The place must be visited, and it's inspiring. The courage of people... Unbelievable. The problem is the lack of information displayed in English.

(Translated by Google) We have finally managed to pedal the trolley to Hohenlychen. 😅 One day before the actual visit we registered with the staff and obtained information. We were well informed and got along great straight away. Well, fire department... 👍😉 Great guy. The following day we were greeted really warmly and given excellent instructions! It was really a great start to the upcoming tour. When we got halfway into gear and had already covered about 400 m... Täve Schur's grandson came whistling from behind, which scared us... We made it in time to find a place to hang out, otherwise we would probably be stolen from the rail bed today along with the torn trolley....🤪 The gentlemen shot past at the speed of light and after the wind died down again, we sat down again and were able to continue cycling in a relaxed manner. Experiencing nature so closely is really great! Please pay attention at the crossing of the road to Himmelpfort, some cars have a lot of money there! We continued relaxed towards Lychen, past old train station buildings, campsites and lakes. When we arrived in Hohenlychen, Täve Schur's grandchildren had already showered, shaved, had lunch, completed a city tour and inspected the trolley and were already waiting impatiently for the last rompers. At point 12 there was no mercy for those who stayed behind and the barrier was opened. The way back was a little more pleasant as it often went downhill. Of course, this part fell to us parents; the children only took on the uphill rides. If they had tried harder, logically we would have been faster. What the hell. No, that was FUN!!! 😂 Oh man, it was nice to be out and about with your trolley! I hope Täve Schur's grandchildren didn't disappear into thin air on the way back with their pug speed.... And arrived safely. 😁 Thank you for the great experience!!! All the best to you! Hopefully see you again soon! Greetings! Was soll's. Thomas

However, there is no sign of the rabbit or deer as the vehicles roll quite loudly along the track. It depends on the design. Due to a tree lying across the way, the path was only clear as far as the fisherman, 10km away. The fish there was delicious. 2 to 4 people can set off after very good instructions... (Translated by Google) After we saw such a vehicle by chance, we thought we would give it a try. We were at the trolley station promptly at 10 a.m. After a short briefing we started. However, we were only allowed to travel in one direction until 12 o'clock at the most, as after that the trolleys had to be turned around and driven back. So it can only be used as a one-way street. It was only possible to come back until 2:30 p.m. at the latest, because after that we changed again in the other direction. So there wouldn't have been much to take a breather if you actually drove the entire kilometer to the end. That's why we took a break after about 1.5 hours and then drove back comfortably. The route itself went directly through the forest. You don't see any animals because it's relatively loud. Sometimes you drive in the sun for a relatively long time. The negative thing, however, was that you often hit your calf when pedaling, as an iron bar is built relatively stupidly. The result was a huge bruise. Otherwise we would probably go again.

Incredible kindness and perfect service. I will be back for sure 🤗
Great staff, friendly and helpful. Good prices for kayak and canoe rentals, and they recommended a lovely route through several lakes in the region. Would gladly rent here again!
very nice place to rent a kayak, very friendly, they almost gave us a crash course for kayaking!
Good selection, staff could seem harsh in the beginning and not the cheapest offers on the weekend. Might be worth to try to negotiate prices
Good canoes and very helpful people working here that will let you even pickup canoe late in the evening.
(Translated by Google) We were lucky to be able to make a reservation for six people the day before. Due to the good weather, it was very busy, and all the parking spaces were full (you have to find them outside). Waterproof maps of the route and a good explanation were provided. Even though the introduction was a bit rushed overall, we'd be happy to come back. It's a great starting point for canoe trips.
