Realy great place! We were there on drifting competitions in 2022, 2023, 2024 and we hope to come back soon. Near there is a lake, water is quite clear, there are toilets and showers and there are few place to eat. Check the photos!
Magical setting for a festival with those giant machines. However the place was all tarmac and concrete and barriers to handle gigantic concert crowds. It was not very charming or inviting in that sense. We went to whole festival.
Big free parking available, and I noticed plenty of people camping inside the area. Entry is around 8 €, which is fair for what you get. FERROPOLIS is an amazing place if you’re into industrial history or just want to see something different. You’ll find giant excavators, bucket-wheel excavators, and other massive industrial machines from the old open-cast mining days—they’re seriously impressive in person. There’s a guided tour available for an extra 3 €, which gives you a bit more info and the chance to climb on two of the machines (the rest are for viewing only). The whole site has a cool, post-apocalyptic vibe and is definitely worth a visit if you’re nearby. I’d recommend it for anyone interested in engineering, photography, or just unique experiences.
If you like big machinery, then you'll love Ferrorpilis! They even let you go up onto them and explore. This place is also set up for festivals and concerts. My wife and I look forward to coming back for a future festival here.
A total bucket list item while living in Germany. As a fan of big machines I loved being able to walk all around and on these earth movers.
Excellent venue for a Music festival. You feel like you have been transported to a different dimension. Also, I love they have the camp section far away from the stages, so you can get a good night of sleep.
This is not a place for everyone. Only those who have keen interest in big machines will find it interesting. I found it to be a place of my interest.
What an amazing place for a metal festival. The venue was absolutely stunning, lighting was on point. Stage setups perfect, theme fit in very well with the general atmosphere. All in all a great experience at Full Force festival and I will definitely visit again!

Melt Review by a nerd normally not listening to electro music. # Summary great location with beach, great organization, clean, cool people, music nice, but not mind-blowing, crowd not super engaged, rather quiet dancing # Longer: Melt is an electronic pop festival now hosted at Ferropolis, the city of iron. I was there from 12.07.2018 until 16.07.2018 # Music and Bands The festival originates mostly from Berlin electro fans. But nowadays, the festival has a wider scope of music - DJs and Electro Pop sounds to me like the best description. With some hiphop and rnb. In the end, my impression was that the festival is about quiet partying and relaxing. Rather chilling and being on holiday than partying hard and finding no sleep. The main acts this year (2018) have been "The xx", "Florence and the Machine" and "Odesza". # Location Ferropolis is a former brown coal mine that was closed down shortly after the end of GDR (East Germany) in 1991. After 1991, a big reconstruction started and the former area around the mine was flooded with water. So Ferropolis is now mostly surrounded by very clear water (Gremminer See). # Music Stages There is one main stage for the main acts, the big wheel stage mostly used for DJs, the Melt Selector Stage directly at the beach (acts + DJs), and 4 more small stages in the forest on the beach mostly used for dancing and party. In front of the entrance, there is the sleepless stage with DJs playing all night long. On the camping site, there is one more stage with smaller acts especially in the afternoon. Perfect for chilling and eating lunch before going to the main area! # People As usual on festivals most people are between 18-30. But nowadays there is also a growing number of people over 30 (without kids though). Melt's positive image is known across borders. So there are lots of British, American, Dutch, Eastern European Festival fans coming which makes the festival very international. Also, it is very diverse - there are roughly as much women as men, you can see a lot of different styles of people (guys in basketball shirts, guys with long hairs, women with short hairs,...) mixing the genres of music to something like a melting pot. And all kind of couples holding hands and kissing in public. In the end, with 30 degree Celsius, most of the people went in bikini or shorts and a shirt/no shirt. The day was mostly spend on the beach or at the camping area. Even for me as an introverted person, it was knot hard to get in contact. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. ## Crowd Engagement :( On the music stages, I was a bit surprised about the lack of crowd engagement. Most people were listening and dancing a bit, but even near the center of the stage there was no real "involvement". From Summerbreeze and Rocknheim I am used to that the crowd is much more engaged - especially with known acts (Fanta4, Deichkind, Dark Tranquility) delivering a great show. # Money and Payment Melt uses a very clever system of cashless payment with a ship on your wrist. You add money to it before or on the location (here 1 Euro fee) and then can pay everywhere. This saves a lot of time and hastle. In the end, you can transfer your money back to your bank account. # Camping There is lots of space on the camping site. You don't have to be afraid not to find a spot. Compared to other festivals (Summerbreeze), Melt tries to keep the place as tidy as possible. You can expect clean toilets (even Dixie) and not too much waste lying around. On the camping site south there is one big area for washing, wc and showering. You have to pay a service fee of 10 Euro or pay each time. There is also free clean, cold water available. The camping spot is directly at the water, so there are nice beaches for swimming and sun bathing. Lots of people sleep in the woods when it gets too warm in the tent.
Legendary festival with main focus on electronic music. Famous music acts as Sven Väth, Moderat, Underworld, Björk, The Streets, Pet Shop Boys, Bloc Party, Róisín Murphy were performing in the past. Last festival happened in 2024. Over the time big headliners were missing and who wants to pay hundreds of euros for vegan pasta and flinta toilets. Go woke go broke.
One of the best festivals I have been
