Breathing sunrise. But the hiking is very hard and you need to have good physical fitness. If not you can choose jeep or motorbike. But they only go to certain height. And you might need to get a jacket because the place is very cold. You can rent them before hike dtart. View is amazing and our guide helped us a lot to ho to the top of the mountain.
We started the hike to Batur with our guide at 3am. The hike was 2 hours and very easy. The sunrise at the top was magical. The view is really breathtaking. You can see the lake, Agung and even the sea. We cooked eggs with the hot steam of the vulcano for breakfast. Recommend you to do this hike!
It was a wonderful adventure. We got up extra early to drive there. Met our local guide and started the hike while it was pitch black. The hike was moderately easy. Not as difficult as I was led to believe. Our guide was not only an exceptional guide but also a wonderful photographer. He took amazing pictures and knew all the great spots. He brought us to the top without getting us winded and with well spaced breaks. The breakfast he gave us was very simple but we had fun. The monkeys came and ate the leftovers. Monkeys were all friendly. The views were absolutely breathtaking. We were all in awe of the volcanic steam. This was by far the best experience we had in Bali. 10/10 recommended!
Funny hiking and worth for the first sunlight as the trail not too much incline to make climbers can rest often. At the top there are a lovely wooden benches for those couple and group to sit together and there are small kiosk for drink and snacks. The best highlight is the monkey and doggy.
You have to do this hike if your in Bali it’s a must!!! Make sure you choose your guide very very well, I researched for a long time and finally found one that didn’t do the normal route, we were all alone but across the ridge there were around 40-60 people fighting for space to take photos, if you wan the guides info please send me message on instagram @travel_a_holic
Woke up @ 2AM for tis Mount Batur 4WD Jeep Sunrise + Black Lava experience. Booked via Klook 1 day b4 jek...~SGD56/pax including pick up & drop off transportation frm ur Hotel... good good deal 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🌄🌄🌄🌋🌋🌋
This is a really touristic attraction, and usually I don't like to go in over-crowded and over-hyped places... but in this case I'm glad I did it. I wanted to do it with my girlfriend alone, without a guide, but I saw on other reviews that we would probably face harassments from locals if we chose this option, and I didn't want to stress...so we booked the guide with our Cottage for 500k: we did the long trekking (with black lava), not only the standard one, finishing with the Hot Springs included (in that day there were no flies and we could really really relax in the splendid hot water. We started around 3:30 AM and reached the top just before sunrise. The view is totally worth it! And the warm breakfast made the experience even better. TECHNICALITIES: It's cold. But when you start to move you warm up (I did it with shorts and t-shirt no problem)... but on top is cold again while you wait for the sunrise. Take something warm with you or practice some Kapalabati breathing ;) The road is crumbly but if you go slow it's okey... it takes 1:30-2 hours in total to reach the peak. If you do the full tour like us, it's 5 hours. Toilette in nature. Pay attention to the monkeys...they can look into your bags for food.
Climbing Mount Batur for the sunrise was one of the most amazing experiences I’ve had in Bali. We woke up at 3:30 AM and drove from the hotel to a meeting point, where we switched to a jeep for the adventurous ride up the mountain. The sunrise view was breathtaking — many tourists even sit on their car roofs just to watch the first light over the volcano. It’s very cold in the early morning (even in summer), so be sure to bring a jacket, sweater, or shawl. The organizers also provide breakfast and hot tea, which was really nice. The cost was about IDR 200,000 per person (each jeep seats 4 people). After the sunrise, we also visited Black Lava Gunung Batur Rest Area and the unique black lava fields. The volcanic rocks and dramatic landscape made the experience unforgettable. Overall, Mount Batur is a must-visit adventure in Bali — the combination of sunrise, volcano views, and black lava makes it absolutely worth it.

As the name itself says mountain view restaurant it deserves more than 5 stars. Sari mountain view restaurant is an Indian restaurant. It has two levels ground level and upper level. Ground level has a cafe and open space to sit and hog on food with a view of kintamani volcano mountain. The place is cold rainy and foggy and is worth every penny. It's beautiful and scenic. Washrooms are maintained good. It has open bar at ground level with a cafe too and they serve breakfast lunch and dinner also. The ambience is quite lavish and beautiful. First level serves indian food at buffet for all tourists who visit. It has parking space. Wherever you Stand or sit you will have the view of kintamani mountain which is bliss to your eyes and soul. Food is quite good. Service is amazing. You will be happy to be in such place. You can have your food facing to the mountain and cherish the joy of eating it. You can see the mountain disappear with the fog. Also you can see lake mount batur from their. It's a must visit restaurant as it's a tourist spot for many travellers. Sari Mountain View Restaurant, Bar and Coffee is a popular restaurant located at Kintamani, Bali. You can enjoy the scenic view of Mount Batur and Lake Batur from multiple terraces while taking food. This restaurant mainly provides good in buffet comprising Indonesian and some Indian dishes. It is a popular attraction for tourist which offers excellent photo opportunities from its multiple terrace levels. The food quality is average but mentioning the view will make the visit worthwhile. You can visit with your friends and family.
Amazing views, the venue is worth it just for this. The food they serve can be hit and miss. Guess it depends on your taste. Loved the soup and some of local mains. The black rice pudding and fried bananas were not as well received though. Get dessert elsewhere in my opinion. Unless you're happy with some fruit. The buffet was a bit pricey compared to the rest of Bali cuisine but at less than USD $15 (200k IDR), still very affordable.
Buffet style lunch as well as serving is available. Wide range of food to select from. View is breathtaking. Ample parking space. Rates are not too high. Food quality is also good. Vegetarian as well as non vegetarian food is available.
A Lovely place to dine in. The food is ok but the ambience is worth visiting. You can sit in the open air and have your food. Taking selfies 8s what people prefer after food. It has Volcano view♥️♥️♥️ Please carry umbrella during your visit in any month as it rains very often.
Great views! Price is considered ok since it's buffet and all u can eat. We're here more for the views instead of food. There r food available for vegetarians.
Visited May 2018 Pros: 1. Best view of mount Agung and mount Batur 2. Best place for photographers 3. Buffet has veg and non- veg options Cons: 1. Alacatre menu doesn't contain many items 2. Chicken was not well cooked 3. Place is not much clean on the outside balcony Note: if you want to click good pics of the mount view visit during evening time from 5-7

A beautiful lake where there is no access to it because all the surrounding area along the lake is private or i didnt find any public area by the shore of the lake where you can relax and enjoy the view!!
Walk around the lake. This is real Bali with rare foreigners. Enjoy your trip with wonderful views of Mt Batur and the lake.
Many years ago,I came here in kintamani and it was a dirt track and a few hawkers. Now it has a massive viewing platform along with aggressive hawkers. Now don't get me wrong, the views are fabulous and many lovely restaurants around too....BUT..if ur a foreigner and have a car or guide, before u getting the top to view the mountain u will be charged 50,000rp or $5 per person just to drive to the top 1 min away. I have no objection to pay as long as at the other end there is someone to maybe give a brief history of the area or mnt. All monies go back to the government but nothing for the locals who are struggling!( that's what I was told by the guide). So,as explained to the guide what I would spent with the hawkers, was spent at the ridiculous "entrance" fee. Do yourself a favour...buy a postcard instead! Worst experience on Bali! Let me explain why! And let me show alternatives. 1. Mass invasion of tourists. And with invasion I mean a never ending snake of people from bottom to top and back. No joke! On the top of mt. batur were at least 300 people. I Never expected sooooo much people. While watching sunrise other people walking around all the time, stand up in front of you for selfies etc. 2. Booking a guide, means booking someone showing you the way! Not more! Our guide told us nothing about history and geology of Mt. Batur. I knew more then him after reading Wikipedia article. But the guide never stopped asking us, if we like to have a longer tour (for more money of course). 3. Mafialike trekking agencies try to force you book a guide. (Mine was Arlinas) 4. Breakfast: = a joke, toast with egg and banana. 5. Equipment: another joke! Just a simple torch with not enough power. After 30min walk light was gone! Nothing else of equipment. 6. The price is horraible expensive for the provided service (300k per person) I was in a Group of 4 people after negotiation. 6. Last but not least the view. The view is beautiful that's true. But millions of views are beautiful while sunrise. Ok, if you still think I want to hike Mt. Batur... please don't or go without guide. The way up is no problem if you have the right shoes, torch and googlemaps. Just start from black lava hostel and follow the way to the Pura penataran agung temple, turn right and head to the Pura Payogaan temple (check Google maps). Follow the trail (5-10min) until you reach a shack where they sell water, etc. From here just follow the masses. If you want to see the sunset alone and without spending so much money, avoid Mt. Batur, rent a scooter and watch it from the south-west caldera of the volcano. This means nearly same angle to the sunrise and you got Mt. Batur, Mt. Abang, and Mt. Agung on your photos. Which is more impressive! Just give it a try. If you don't like it you can go next day to Mt Batur.
The best driver in bali 👌
My favorite place , my favorite town CD there’s a nice restaurant on the hill Beautiful mountains of you every morning I wake up Possibility to hike to bike to drive a 4 x 4 car Enjoy the walk on the mountain
Spent 2 hours walking around Danau Batur. Really love that the lake comes with views of 3 magnificent mountains and the lake is surrounded by local villages instead of tourism. Beautiful blue sky accompanied with it. Tourists are non existent in this village. Love to be around locals and no other foreigners. We also love the fact that this place offers serenity and peace, in touch with nature. Lots of farm lands, locals and sound of crickets.
Absolutely stunning & peaceful place to visit. The view makes me calm & breathtaking. the temperature is cool even during afternoon. but to get here, you need a driver ‘supir’ because no scooter for rent available nearby.

This was very good value. You have a delegated guide throughout. They tell you all about the coffee making process. Then they give you an entire tray of different herbals teas and coffee to try. This is all FREE. Then they ask if you want to pay a small fee to try the Luwak coffee. We agreed and tried it. At the end you can look around their shop and buy extras as gifts for friends and family if you wish. Beautiful views. Incredible customer service. Very friendly tour guide.
Our driver suggested we visit here and we were glad we did. Our guide walked us through the grounds and showed us all the coffee plants and more. We were provided with a ton of free coffee and tea samples to try. We ordered the luwak coffee and it was ok! We are from Melbourne Australia so we are coffee snobs lol. I was sad to see the little guy in the cage but they informed us that they are traded in and out and will always be released - so that made me feel better. Overall, it was a nice fun 45 min stop on our way around Ubud.
What a great experience to try the local tea and coffee in Bali, the little animals in the tree were so cute, such many flavours, they all tasted amazing, the one that came on top was the mangosteen and lemongrass for me. My daughter loved the coffee & cocoa one which we brought from there store. I also purchased some coffee bags to take home as gifts, the staff lady was very helpful and explained how the coffee is made which was so interesting and there was no cost for the taste testing I Enjoyed this experience at little cost just for my purchases 😊
Went with a tour. Tour guide took care of everything ,but everything was so organized with the coffee experience. The Teas and coffees were spectacular. Each unique in flavor and they give you the option to buy some after the experience to take home. The ambiance and set up was quick but memorable trulh recommend it.
Beautiful experience, Fira was a wonderful guide and made everything perfect. The only thing that you can pay but not mandatory is 50 rupiah to taste the Luwak coffee but the tasting of all coffees and teas and guide is free! Totally recommend :)
In September 2025, my friend and I visited Indonesia for the first time. I'm not a coffee drinker but since this was part of our day tour, we went to Cantik Agriculture Luwak Coffee. I really enjoyed this experience. They explained how coffee beans are grown. We saw Luwak (Asian palm civet, a small mammal in Southeast Asia) and they explained Luwak Coffee (when coffee cherries are eaten by civet cats and then processed in their digestive tracts, and finally passed along within their fecal matter.) They let us try 13 Coffees/Teas and had an explanation for each type. Then they had a store, that sold the coffee and teas we tried. I purchased Mangosteen Tea, Rosella Tea, and Bali Coffee and Cocoa (which taste like hot chocolate) as gifts for my family. If you like coffee, definitely try Cantik Agriculture Luwak Coffee.
#MUSTTRY, when you are in Bali it’s a must guys. Our guide took us Cantik and the person who explained everything very well, since we are from Chennai, she spoke few Tamil words we were awestruck with her hospitality, my kids saw Luwak she explained everything what they are being fed with, how did they take care of them. We tasted almost 20 different types of coffee and tea on cliff side with an amazing view. The chocolate coffee and Lemon tea were out of the world, I bought back home since I have had only cabin luggage not check in baggage, I could not more, if I have I would have bought many many things. We tried Luwak coffee (perfectly cleaned) paid IDR50000 a cup but worth it. I bought coffee body scrub, cinnamon rolls, tiger balm, butterfly pea flower (dehydrated), Lemon tea, chocolate coffee, vanilla coffee, Bali curry masala, paprika, cloves. It’s a free tasting guys paid only for luwak coffee alone (since it’s expensive) but other tastings are free, you can buy the product in sales office.
It was a great place to visit and discover the way coffee is produced and process of making coffee. There was also free tasting of coffee and tra and shop where you could buy your favourites.

You have to buy tickets across the street, and either purchase or rent a sarong. We ended up purchasing them as this was our first temple visit and figured we would use them again. The pricing for the sarong is negotiable. We had a nice older man guide us through the temple and take amazing pictures. He also took us around back to show us the view, but made sure to not let anyone bother us trying to sell things.
Amazing temple complex! Very artistic and lovely. I have to agree with other reviewers though, the aggressiveness of people trying to sell and hustle you for money is way too over the top here. Enjoy the inner part of the temple but DO NOT go around the back. You will meet a man that is highly agressive trying to sell you lava rock drawings. He will actually get in your face! The view in the back is the same from the cafes.
Pura Ulun Danu Batur, a Hindu temple in Kintamani. Located on the rim of Mount Batur, the temple contains 285 shrines and pavilions spread across nine different complexes dedicated to water deities. Parking is easy, but parking is available for a fee. A sarong and sash are also recommended. You can purchase or rent one on site (I recommend purchasing it; it will be useful at other temples). It's a very beautiful place, not very touristy, although the noise and traffic in front of the temple are quite heavy.
Beautiful temple and worth visiting, but the scams and gimmicks are getting tiresome. When you pay the entrance fee, they take you over to a wall and try to get you to purchase a sarong. When you decline, they then try to rent you one. A FREE one is already included with the ticket. We had to get borderline unfriendly for them to get the point that we were not buying or renting one. Then they force you to go with a guide. That was okay as she was helpful and made navigating the area easier. We offered a small tip at the end. However, along the way, we had a few people approaching us to buy things.
Visited this place for Bhumisudha ritual. However, the ceremony had finished when we arrived. No problem, we love to feel the atmosphere here.
The ticket price idr 30.000 for local but we have to rent sarong to go in. You may negotiate the price for the rent sarong, as cheap as you can
Beautiful place — ruined by scammy behavior. We were excited to visit this temple and had no issue paying the entrance fee — that’s totally fine. But right after paying, they told us we had to cover our legs (which is normal in Bali). What’s not normal is being asked to buy the sarong for 300,000 IDR! After some back-and-forth, we ended up renting it for 50,000 each, just to avoid more hassle. Then they forced a guide on us — someone we never asked for, who barely explained anything and later complained that our tip “wasn’t enough.” Seriously? What could have been a peaceful cultural visit turned into a series of petty scams. The temple itself is beautiful and worth seeing, but the management and the pushy attitude are shameful. Tip for other travelers: pay your entrance fee, bring your own sarong, and firmly refuse any “mandatory guide” nonsense. You’ll enjoy it much more that way.
READ BEFORE VISITING Be prepared to be attacked from the locals upon arrival at the parking. When you buy the entrance ticket for 50k, in which is included the sarong and belt for entrance and also tour guide be aware that the women around the ticket counter will try to sell you the sarong, you must explicit say to them you will only rent the sarong that is included in the ticket. It ruins the tranquility of the Balinese people and culture when you come to such places and they are so pushy to try to sell you spmething. Maybe i would buy something else from them if they were not so annoying 🙏 The temple itself is beautiful and all the sculptures inside with the unforgetable architecture👍👏👏

Pura Kehen 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Pura Kehen is a breathtaking and culturally significant temple that truly captures the essence of Bali’s spiritual heritage. 🛕✨ This sacred site is not only a stunning architectural masterpiece but also holds deep importance for the Balinese people. The temple's intricate carvings and grand entrance are awe-inspiring, showcasing the incredible craftsmanship and attention to detail. 🪷 The lush surroundings and peaceful ambiance make it a perfect place for reflection and appreciation of Bali's rich culture. Walking through the temple grounds, you can feel the spiritual energy and the strong connection the locals have with this sacred space. 🙏 It’s an amazing opportunity to learn about the traditions and religious practices of Bali. 📍Location: Located in Bangli, it’s easy to reach and well worth the trip. 💵 Entry Fee: Affordable, and it goes towards maintaining this beautiful site. Pro Tip: Wear modest clothing and bring a sarong to show respect for the local customs. Visiting during a ceremony adds an extra layer of cultural experience. Pura Kehen is a must-visit for anyone exploring Bali's spiritual and historical landmarks. Highly recommended for its beauty and significance! 🌴✨
Pura Keren is a temple by the side of the road. There very few tourists when we visited thus it was not crowded. We got to stay and explore the place quietly and peacefully.
Myself and my husband had the opportunity to visit this ancient beautiful holy temple today which humbled our hearts and stilled our minds. Most majestic tranquil temple's I have yet seen in bali. Humble experience and yet so quite beautiful
Beautiful temple — before entering one has to wear a kamen (sarong) which are available at the entrance for a small fee. Ancient temple, built on a previous cultures temple on a sacred hill ..
Nice temple. People outside were incredibly pushy to buy a sarong even though they are provided for free.
Pura Kehen was the main temple for the Bangli kingdom. Built in the 13th century, this temple is quite unique compared to other temples in Bali. On the walls you can see Chinese porcelain plates, which shows that the Chinese already traded with the Balinese. There is also a banyan tree growing out of the temple, which is very interesting.
Beautiful and less touristy temple. You must not officially pay an entrance fee but there is someone at the street that tells you to pay 50.000 per Person for a ticket. We fell for it and I think the price is too high for what you get.
Ticket price: 50k/person Parking: free Sarong: free Just another balinese temple with good architecture. You can skip this if you have visited other temples in Bali. It is costly considering that you will spend a max of 5-10 minutes taking pictures of the temple. I wish there was some guide or information provided to understand the temple better. Sarong will be given at information desk right opposite the temple.

Cemetery
Sights & Landmarks
Lakefront cemetery in a Balinese village with unique ancient funeral rites, accessed only by boat.
Slide 1 of 8
This sightseeing location may not be for everyone as there are usually several decomposing corpses at the site. Additionally, there’s a pile of skulls which are reminiscent of the Killing Fields in Phnom Penh. Simply said, it’s not for the squeamish. Another barrier to getting to this site is the cost of the boat ride across the lake. The prices are seriously expensive for the twenty minute ride each way. If you’re in a group it’s doable. But as a solo traveler, the 800k IDR fee is something which needs to be considered before handing over your cash. Is the cemetery worth looking at? I would say that if you’re not doing a YouTube Video, then probably not. It’s a small site at which you’ll probably be there for no longer than fifteen minutes. To try and bolster the trip, they’ll take you to Terunyan Village first, to look at the Hindu Temple. The people who live there are descended from the original inhabitants of Bali. What was notable is their larger stature than the Balinese people you see around the tourist areas of the island. Note: The departure point for the boats is directly across the road from the ALFAMART LAKEVIEW convenience store (Google Maps). Safe travels, Mega.
Certainly confronting, but really interesting learning the beliefs behind this tradition. It’s only a very small area maybe thirty metres by thirty metres with the wall of skulls, a dozen above ground burial plots and a literal human rubbish dump. When you die your body and worldly possessions are placed in one of the above ground burial cages, where it remains until it is needed by the next body. What remains of the body and possessions is then discarded on the rubbish heap. Be Aware, you need to access the cemetery by local boat which is so over the top expensive, 1100000IDR for what is literally a 5min boat ride. It is for this reason I could not justify the experience. Which in reality can been seen in 10minutes
Terunyan Village, a village on the shores of Lake Batur, Kintamani District, Bangli Regency is one of the oldest villages that can be said to still preserve the Bali Aga or old-Bali customs, before its acculturation with Hinduism-Buddhism culture and religion from India. Unlike almost all areas in Bali where people who die are burned (this burial model is called "Ngaben" or fire burial), people who die in Terunyan Village are placed on the ground so that they will later decompose naturally by the wind (this burial model is called "Mepasah" or wind burial). There is a local indigenous legend that there were 4 children of the King of Surakarta on the island of Java who traveled together to the island of Bali to find the source of the fragrant aroma that made them curious and in the end the eldest son managed to find that the aroma actually came from a tree called Taru Menyan in this village. Long story shortened, he then became the ruler of this village entitled Ratu Sakti Pancering Jagat and married a native princess of this village entitled Ratu Ayu Pingit Dalam. They were the ones who then made the rule that has become a tradition until now, namely to put every corpse of a deceased person under the Taru Menyan tree for the aroma can be neutralized so that this village is not easily known therefore it will be always safe from the dangers of invasion from other areas.
Terunyan Village Cemetery “ No burials. No cremations. Just nature and mystery.” Hidden on the edge of Lake Batur lies Trunyan, home to the Bali Aga people. We explored their eerie cemetery where bodies are left to decompose in open bamboo cages, said to be odorless due to a mythical fragrant tree. A haunting yet fascinating cultural experience. We saw a 2-day-old body resting in a bamboo cage, exposed to the open air but surprisingly without any smell. This is thanks to the nearby Taru Menyan tree, which releases a natural fragrance. Personal Belongings Next to the body were the person’s favorite items, placed inside the cage as offerings and memories. Skull Platform A little farther away, we came across a stone platform covered in human skulls. Each one belonged to someone who had completed the cycle of natural decay—now honored and at peace.
Morbidly interesting, a cemetery where the dead are not buried but wrapped and left on the surface in a bamboo cage. Only a slight smell of decaying corpses and many skulls staring at you. I made new friends.
Trunyan Cemetery is unlike anywhere I’ve filmed—raw, quiet, and deeply rooted in local belief. Please plan ahead: arrange a licensed guide, boat, and driver before you set out (ideally through a reputable operator) to avoid confusion or inflated prices at the dock. Go respectfully, listen more than you speak, and you’ll come away with a rare perspective on Bali’s living traditions.
Very expensive for what it is, but much cheaper if you use a driver and ask them to negotiate with the boat rental people. Our motor boat was full of patches in poor condition. The motor mysteriously stopped twice (in an effort to get more money). Toilet provided was substandard. Cost was 1.4 m IDR for motor boat rental, access fees etc. The beggars were shocking too.
quite surreal but not as scary as anticipated. caretaker / guide are quiet and relaxed and open to all questions. it isn’t a solemn or serious situation. it is though run down and dirty. under sensing that’s its their ancient practice and culture (before Hindu came to bali) but it’s weird to see corpses, bones and remains just scattered on the ground literally side by side w trash. there’s paper, money, old flip flops and broken bones just strewn about. One of the statues was tipped over and the guy said they just leave it because that’s how it occurred naturally. it makes for a run down, haphazard, land full type scene. the bamboo cages are also old and in disrepair. if the cemetery was manicured well, cleaner and generally more organized it would be actually quite an enchanting and respectful scene. u end up feeling bad that the final resting spot for these people is amongst rags and filth. whatever, it’s their culture and tradition. recommended either way. donation helpful but not mandatory and no one will ask.

Challenging and beautiful at the top! Big recommend! Physically challenging but never dangerous. Important disclaimer: if can be very hard to get a taxi (”Grab”) from the begging of the trek - we waited a long time, it got dark, and all drivers cancelled (or asked for big tips to drive us…). It’s probably best to arrange driver/rent scooters before👍
Pretty good mountain to hike. Takes 3 hrs to get to the top, take 4L with you. Go as early as possible to get the views without clouds. You have to pay like 25K twice! Google didnt send me to the begining of the hike for whatever reason, it was 5 ks further along. Its the last little town along the lake as you are coming from kintamani. Theres a lady there who you can pay to get hiking sticks, she comes out of her house. You need the sticks, two of them. I wouldnt do this if it was wet. There are two peaks, the smaller one is pretty good, you dont have to go all the way because it gets harder and its pretty far away from the first peak. You can get to the peak via coming from the other side which apparently is much easier.
For a first time hiker myself, this was challenging. Please have proper hiking footwear as terrains are slippery and steep. I only wore a pair of sport shoes which made this hike very tough and dangerous for me 🥲 nonetheless less, I took around 2.5 hours to reach the summit and another 2 hours to descend. Overall, the hike was still very fun and having an amazing view at the summit made all the effort worth it. Do try to reach the summit by 5+am in order to catch the very beautiful sunrise 🌅
A hidden gem in Bali for hiking lovers. The trail is challenging but not too extreme, surrounded by beautiful forest and fresh air. From the top, you’ll get stunning views of Mount Batur, Lake Batur, and Mount Agung on a clear day. It’s less crowded compared to other mountains in Bali, which makes the experience peaceful. Best to go early in the morning for sunrise.
For the ones who wanna hike solo: drive up as far as you can until somebody stops you. They asked me 150k (not too bad compared to my other solo adventures in Indonesia), and if I wanted a guide, I said "NO" and they didn't complain or anything. After that I had to follow one of the people who brought me the parking. If you're in very good shape and an experienced hiker with a strong pace, you will be up and down again in max 2 hours, took me 1h15min to go up and 30 to go down. Make sure you wear shoes with good grip!😁 Enjoy!🙏
come here solo hiking when rainy season. Amazing place, quiet, and gorgeous. From park area to Post 1 is easier, but from post 1 to peak bit challenging especially during rainy season. If you a beginner this mountain is recommended but please climb on Summer season ( at leas not raining season)
Do not follow the map direction if you want to get the registration post, or you will ended at the abang village, down to the mountain. The best way to get the registration post is by passing the Museum Geopark Batur, you find the three junction, and turn left. Just follow the main road, in about 8 or 10 minutes you will find the registration post. It cost Rp. 24.000/ person for entrance fee at the registration post. Before the parking lot, the locals will ask you for donation as well. The mountain it self is good for beginner hiker. It takes about 3,5 - 4 hours to get to the summit. Camping is a good option when you get to the summit. Be sure that you get the Sunrise and sunset. They are very nice at the abang mountain. Stunning view, overlooking to the batur lake and mountain
Mount Abang is the third highest mount in Bali after Mount Agung and Mount Batukaru. It takes about 2 hours from Denpasar by motorcycle. Before entering the mount track, you should pay for the enterance ticket (just 10k rupiah). There is no parking lot, but you can park at the side of the road near the starting point track. Unlike Mount Batur, there are no toilets nor stalls near the starting point. The track to reach the top of the mount are green lush forest with mesmerizing view. Some spots of the track is really slippery and steep, thus, make sure you wear your mountaineering shoes! It has 2 stop point for you to take a rest during the hiking before reach the. Every stop point has a pelinggih (sort of a place of resident of the God manifestation in Balinese belief). The Hindu Balinese hikers usually pray while taking a rest there. Since every stop point is a holy place, it is not recommended to pee around the place. You can urinate in the bottle or in the bushes as you trekking (but not near the Pelinggih). You can set up tent here if you want. It takes around 1 hour from the starting point to the 1st stop point; 1 hour from the 1st to the 2nd stop point; and subsequent 2 hours to the top (the duration indeed depend on the hikers). At the top of the mount, you can enjoy majestic scenery. Mount Batur can be seen clearly from this place. On the other side of the top, you can see green wavy slope of the mount. Really fascinating! The hikers usually set up tent here. They spend the night and enjoy the sunrise in the morning.

Museum
Nature & Parks
Unique museum featuring an array of geology, history & cultural exhibits relating to Mount Batur.
Slide 1 of 8
If you’re visiting Bali and happen to be in the Kintamani area, I highly recommend Museum Geopark Batur, It’s a fantastic educational spot! Inside, you’ll find so many fascinating things to learn about the earth core, discover some meteorites that have fallen to Earth and their significance. Learn about the lava produced by various volcanoes and how they’ve shaped the landscape. Balinese culture and the history of Bali. It’s a real shame that this museum doesn’t get as many visitors as it deserves because there’s so much valuable information to gain here. Plus, the entrance fee is quite affordable (IDR 10.000) the facilities are decent, and the restrooms are really clean! A big thank you to the dedicated staff at Museum Geopark Batur for all your hard work. Your efforts truly enrich the visitor experience! 🙌🏽
Great activity for couple hours. Be prepared to walk in hot weather. Unless you buy a ride ticket.
Great place to learn about Mt. Batur, Lake Batur, even the formation of the whole Bali island! The museum is rather empty, which is a shame. We visited the museum because it was raining and we couldn't visit more touristy places, but we had a great time knowing more about the area. Great for those who love geology and learning.
This government facility provides information about the formation of Mount Beto. I found the information about the lava flows. Very interesting. This place is for somebody who wants to learn. It is simple yet has a lot of good information if you go there before visiting the mountain and the Lakeview, you will have a better appreciation of how this natural formation was made overtime
The ticket only IDR 10,000 for domestic, you can use cash or Qris, you can learn about the history of the island of Bali
Price: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ One of the biggest perks of visiting Museum Geopark Batur is that there’s no ticket fee, making it budget-friendly for anyone interested in learning more about the area's geological history. Whether you're a solo traveler or with family, the fact that it's free makes it an easy stop if you're exploring the Kintamani region. Location: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ The museum is located in the scenic area of Kintamani, right near the majestic Mount Batur, which adds to its appeal. The surrounding views of the volcano are breathtaking, and it’s not far from other tourist spots in the region, so you can easily combine it with other activities in the area. Use grab or gojek for transport. Fun/Entertainment: ⭐⭐ This is where the experience falls short. While the museum does have some interesting facts about the volcano and geological formations, the lack of interactive exhibits, especially ones in working condition, makes the visit feel underwhelming. Many of the media and audio-visual displays were either out of order or poorly maintained, which really detracts from the overall experience. There’s also limited information available in English, which might make it less enjoyable for non-Indonesian visitors. It’s definitely more of an educational stop than an entertainment hub. Facilities: ⭐⭐ The museum is basic when it comes to facilities. While the washrooms are functional, they’re not particularly modern or well-stocked. There are no cafes or food options inside, so if you’re planning a visit, be sure to bring water or snacks. The museum could really benefit from some updates to its displays and better maintenance of its existing technology. Overall Experience: ⭐⭐⭐ If you're already in the area and have an interest in volcanoes and geology, the Museum Geopark Batur can provide you with some useful information about the region's volcanic history. However, it's not something you need to go out of your way for unless you're really into geological studies. The lack of working exhibits and limited English content makes it hard for many visitors to fully appreciate what the museum has to offer. In the end, it’s a quick stop but not an essential one on your Bali itinerary.
It is good place to learn about geologi od batur.
This UNESCO geopark is a great place to quickly learn about the geologic, cultural and biological diversity of Kintimani and Indonesia. The staff was great and the education gained was worth it I recommend doing this first if you go to Kintimani. It will make exploring this amazing place that much more interesting.

Great Sunrise Experience at Mount Batur! The Mount Batur sunrise trip was so much fun! We took a jeep to the top, which made the whole experience even more exciting and unique. The view during sunrise was absolutely stunning — truly one of the best I’ve ever seen. The jeep ride was smooth and added a sense of adventure to the trip. We paid 500k IDR per person, and it was definitely worth it for the amazing view and overall experience. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Bali!
A stunning roadside viewpoint offering mesmerizing views of Mount Batur and the surrounding landscape. Perfect for a quick stop to soak in the beauty especially during clear weather. Be mindful though, clouds can quickly roll in and cover the mountain. The view is absolutely worth it, but be cautious of local item sellers nearbythey can be quite persistent. It's mostly just a viewpoint, not a hike or full stop, but a memorable spot for photos and a quick bit of shopping if you're interested. Definitely a great memory if you're passing through!
It’s a nice place for view. You can get vegetarian restaurant around. Street shopping (no matter how much you negotiate, you will be proven cheated by other seller :)) so be careful. there is no entry ticket it’s open so no timing applicable!
We hiking itself was quite difficult in complete darkness, and on very sandy and rocky roads which gets very busy with tourists. There is a better road but it’s only for motorbikes who try to sell a ride for everyone. We got up at 2 AM, travelled for 2 hours and hiked up to the top (took 2 hours, for 2.7 km with 700 m height difference). It was very foggy and we couldn’t see anything from the sunrise or the view. We could see it from the valley that it’s very foggy and rainy but the guides didn’t say anything. It was a waste of our time and money. We of course know that it’s nature and nobody is at fault, but I would like to warn people that it can happen, and recommend to check the weather forecast and visibility beforehand and cancel if it’s foggy. If you go during the day there is less chance that this will happen and you don’t need your do the hike in darkness.
It a nice place to stop and have a quick look around. But! While we were admiring the view we were surrounded by a couple of locals that tried to selling us stuff and they were quite pushy! Was annoying! We had no problem anywhere else in Bali, just here!
Beautiful view point on the way to Batur hotbsprings!! You can spend max 30 mins. There were a lot of vendors selling fresh clementine orange 🍊. It was so sweet. There are a lot of people selling fancy gift and jewellery . Word of caution-- they price it toooo high and you should bargain . There was a good veg indian restaurant nearby as well.
This place is absolutely insane! I took photos with my phone light before sunrise, and then again during sunrise—both were amazing. Even though it rained all night the day before, reaching the top was still totally worth it.
The best place for sunrise and seeing the panorama of Batur caldera in Kintamani, there are available toilets as well. minus parking only

Stunning view. If clear sky, we can see three mountain (Mount Batur, Mount Abang and Mount Agung).
The highest temple in Bali. There are a few flights of steps you can take to get to it, or take a back road to save yourself the effort. Many old statues & stone artifacts. Worth the visit. Did not have to pay to get in, but there is a donation box. Always remember to wear a sarong.
There are so many beautiful temples in Bali but this one is not worth the 50k entree fee. It also takes 300 steps up :(. Probably if there is a ceremony it can be nice but when we were there it did not feel sacred at all.
It's one of historical place temple in Bali, where the first irrigation was found and use in farm in Bali, nice a chill place and a good place to tracking
Hindhu's temple located in Kintamani district, great and peacefull insides the temple.
Amazing place nice cool air if you need a break from the heat of the south 🙏🏼🙌
A good view of three mountains (Batur, Abang and Agung) may be seen from near the main temple at the top. Remember to bring Balinese temple clothing if you want to enter the temple.

If you want to drink Luwak Coffee or buy Luwak Coffee powder and taste a variety of tea and coffees, you can visit this place. They also have spices. Luwak Coffee is a coffee made from the Coffee beans digested from a Civet Cat, as thus animal eats only the best quality Coffee beans.
Don't waste your time; they scam and steal your money. We purchased ginger coffee and matcha tea, but inside the original coffee or tea, there was a mixture of instant coffee and tea with artificial sweeteners. We spent almost 500,000 IDR in total. This place is ruining Bali's reputation for tourism.
Unbelievable experience. Love the place and presentation.. People so friendly. 🇹🇷♥️🇮🇩
We had a nice visit with free entrance and free tasting, and there was no pressure to buy. We paid for the Luwak coffee and enjoyed it. Later on in the shop we bought the sugar free avocado coffee, been told that it was only coffee and avocado powder, some chocolate for my kids, and saffron said to be local. Once at home it was a total disappointment. The chocolate was just sugar, the sugar free coffee was a mixture of instant sweetened coffee and the saffron had no smell at all. It is worth visiting for the experience and tasting, enjoy one of their coffee with a great view, but defintely skip the shop!!!
The different types of tea and coffee given for tasting were awesome. You could pick your most favorite flavour or buy whichever one you like most. One could see every step of that special and most expensive coffee made from Civet cat poop there. Altogether, a beautiful place with good scenic views and offering a great experience.
BAS De ATAYANA is a great destination if you enjoy coffee, nature, and scenic photo spots. The agrotourism experience is informative and the natural setting is relaxing. I give it 4 stars for a well-rounded experience, small improvements could make it even better, but very much worth visiting.
Coffee lover's like to visit this coffee farm. Using the Luwak to produce this coffee from the stools after feeding it with the beans. Taste all their products for free before you experience a full size of your choice. Staff were extremely friendly and knowledgeable about growing coffee and tea plant's.

Nice place, guided tour of the spice garden (vanilla, coffee, snake plant, pineapple, cocoa, etc etc). We see how Luwak coffee is processed and get to taste various flavoured tea and coffee (13 types). At the end one may make purchases.
This is a good place to go for tasting and enjoying the athmosphere but do not buy what they are selling at the shop. Your driver will take you there as most of them have affiliations with the place. Go, take cute pictures, taste their coffee and DO NOT buy
Fantastic experience. Our guide told us about plantation and showed us all the plants they have. We taste tested all the coffees they have in small shop. The prices for coffee in a gift shop can be considered high but in this place they hand pick luwak coffee from wild and take care of injured animals so I'll pay for that.
Came here but location is wrong but I remember seeing this lady roasting the coffee. The name was even different on the front for some reason it should be it UBUD but found this place to just sell coffee not made by them but from suppliers just ask chatGPT is coffee made in Ubud and it will say no most are scams like this one so if your driver brings you here ask him why? This is a scam place and karma will get the scammers who are saying that this is grown here and organic.
We had a guided tour of the plantation, with a beautiful lady who explained lots and graciously shared information with us about the coffee making process, right from growing, harvesting, roasting and finally tasting. The sensory experience was awesome- we saw the plants colours, we smelled the fresh coffee beans being roasted, and enjoyed taste testing a range of coffee and tea. We also got to taste test 7 chocolate flavours. It was a wonderful experience. Thank you for having us.
Tourist trap. Our guide brought us to this "coffee plantation" after a day trip, and at first it felt like an undiscovered local spot. It was anything but. The coffee you buy is a mix of instant powder and sweeteners, most priced around Rp250k. I was also charged 2x for my purchase. As other reviewers mentioned, it seems to me that the only reason tourists would end up here is because guides receive a commission for bringing them in. If you want quality coffee and an honest experience, I recommend avoiding this place entirely. There are genuine local coffee producers worth supporting, but this is not one of them.
Excellent place to visit. On arrival was shown around the plantation where the guide showed us everything which the family business grow. After we sat down for some coffee tasting, once we finished tasting all the coffee we were taken to the shop where we could purchase many of the products produced. Never tasted Luwak coffee before and had the opportunity to taste here. I had to buy this in the end as it was that good.
Complete SCAM. We were sold the very expensive coffee as being hand ground and roasted. Once I opened the packet, is was repackaged powdered coffee and sugar. They have an old woman stirring coffee beans over a flame, indicating that's how they roast the beans by hand. Basically, what you will get is completely different from what they let you taste. Rp.250,000 for 3 packets of instant coffe. total fraud!

The entrance was quite adventurous and made the experience more exciting. The rooms and the camp ground are extremely clean and well maintained, along with the shared restrooms which were clean as a whistle. The most picturesque view of the lake you can pay for and relaxing by the pier was an activity of its own. The owners are a very friendly cute married couple who were extremely accommodating, they helped us with our bags, finding locations, gave amazing suggestions, gave us a bike for free, helped us find transport after our checkout, they are extremely responsive even at 5:45am which was a surprise. They made our stay incredible and i would love to revisit again. All in all a hidden gem and definitely got my moneys worth. Lovely experience for a couple.
Clean, well maintained and great view. Campfire was the best! Breakfast selection could be improved though - had a hard time eating it. Just the flies... Really struggled to eat breakfast with hundreds of flies swarming around us. But it's not the place's fault 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Strongly recommended! Picturesque view! One of the best place in kintamani i think, please keep in mind it's a camp, don't expect you are in a resort. The view is stunning, the service is top notch. The owners are really welcoming and very friendly. They will accept you as their family member. We really cooked in their kitchen which was a great experience. Highly recommended. The kintamani area is full of fleas in this season, but somehow they managed the fleas really well. Going there takes just 3 minute walk, no problem at all reaching there. Only negative part is bit pricey compared to the other resorts around, but still it's okay.
This place is absolutely magical. We had stayed at a 5-star resort before, but only here did we truly feel we could breathe. The wide open space, the deep sense of peace, and the breathtaking, unforgettable views make it a hidden gem we’ll always remember. The only small downside was the number of flies, but it didn’t take away from the overall experience.”
The best view points by the lake. You can easily get food and groceries from the close by village too. The camp is beautiful and well managed. The staff were nice and supportive. The unpaved path in the last half mile to get to the camp was a bit challenging even with a motorbike. The flies and mosquitos are part of the wild natural by the lake. If you hate them, you should choose a hotel instead of a camp.
Avoid this horrible place. After booking was confirmed, they cancelled my reservation after 5 days by sending a shady email through booking.com saying that they are canceling my reservation as the money hasn't been paid. When l emailed them proof of reservation, they emailed me back saying they are canceling my reservation as they have some issues with the property. Atleast, reply to messages on chats or send a proper email to notify customers of the LAST MINUTE CHANGES. So now l have no spots left to book elsewhere as l would be looking for a place 4 days before my check in. Places like these ought to be out of business.
A really beautiful place right on the edge of the lake. Tents on stilts with bamboo roofs. Everything very clean, meadow kept like on a golf course. Very quiet, campfires in the evenings. Guided tours offered. Friendly, helpful staff. Be warned that there can be l lot of flies there, especially in the wet season. There is a sign for the place at the main road, yet it is not so easy to find at the end of some dirt roads.
My stay at N'jung camp was amazing- "camp" in name only - this is luxury with a zipper. My host saw that my every need was met, awesome local recommendations. The camp itself is situated on the water, with the rooms surrounding the owners private golf greens, who is more than happy to share his passion (putting/golfing green) with guests as a quiet activity between the local hotsprings and trekking spots. Thankyou for having me and sharing this very special location.
