It is fun to see how the Japanese enshrined the tree that saved the castle. The castle construction was easily visible - no nails, flexible for earthquakes. The steep steps and low head clearance to slow down enemies was entertaining as was the existence of the room for throwing rocks at the enemy. Very well-kept and well organized tourist attraction. There were also some well-preserved suits of "armor", a bunch of Tori gates, lovely stonework walls. Not speaking/reading Japanese a bit of a handicap; fortunately we had an English-speaking guide. The town also had a charming small museum of mechanical dolls.
History is on full display here, with little to no guardrails. Going into the castle you are asked to remove your shoes and you are given a plastic bag to put them in. Once inside, your butt puckers (if you are me) at the front door of the soooper steep stairs (might as well be ladders) that take you up to the different floors. At the top, they actually let you WALK OUTSIDE THE PERIMETER at 19m above the ground with a .7m rotted hand rail that says "do not lean against" aka don't expect this to save you if you trip. On the way back down the stairs (ladder) I went backwards and it was much easier, (although I did get laughed at) even though I still was sweating because seriously these stairs are things my nightmares are made of. Sooo cool. Best touristy legit spot in all of Japan so far for us.
Very traditional Japanese castle. Great wooden structure with very steep steps going up the different floors. Need to remove shoes and put in plastic bag provided at the entrance. Not wheel chair accessible inside due to the stairs.
View from the castle is breathtaking! And I really appreciate they didn’t turn the castle into a museum like the Osaka Castle. Much of the original structure is preserved and you are required to take off your shoes to walk around inside the castle, like the Himeiji Castle. If you appreciate Japanese history, this one is worth a visit!
One of the five national treasures in Japan. We visited on a weekday and it wasn't too busy - we were able to walk up and down ok and enjoy the view. Feels really high at the top! Worth a visit if you're in Nagoya
Inuyama castle is a one-of-a-kind castle with beautiful view points of the city and original architecture however the ascent is very tedious and might not be suitable for some people. To go to the castle you must go through the shrine. All in all, it is a very worthwhile experience.
One of my fav castle visits so far. They keep most of the original design and it has the best traditional look and feel. One could feel the design and its purpose for defending the castle.
The staircase are really steep. It made my legs tremble 😅 But the view from the top was really worth it. Sadly, I went there during midday so there are already a lot of people so the tour inside felt kind of rushed.

The best architectural museum in Japan. The diversity and maintenance of these history buildings are amazing. This is something that you cannot find in those downtown cities. The value behind it is beyond the ticket price. You may want to reserve at least 4 or 5 hours to really enjoy the place. There's multiple bus rides from Inuyama Station, but please watch out for the last bus on the way back though.
We came to Meij Mura on a beautiful spring day. It is often considered the best architectural museum in Japan. It features buildings from the Meiji area (1868-1912) organized in 5 areas. We started in Area 5 and walked our way back to Area 1. It is huge and you can definitely spend hours here, but if you’re strapped for time our highlights were: the Imperial Hotel, the prison, St Francis Xavier Cathedral, the Kabuki, the Post Office, and the Renga-dori road area. You can purchase tickets for the bus, steam train, and tram that run through the park, but please note the Steam Train only runs on certain days (you can check the schedule on the website). There are restaurants on site but they are of course a little pricey, so some reviews suggest bringing a picnic. We did not know this, but if you visit Inuyama castle first, you can get a combined discount ticket (not available if you visit Meiji Mura first).
The whole site is really well run. The variety of historical architecture is extraordinary. It would take weeks of travel to see this much history. The imperial hotel lobby is the most incredible 3 dimensional space I've ever encountered. I couldn't believe the place was not any more crowded than it was especially given it was a Sunday.
Museum is so large we could have easily spent the whole day there. There are 5 zones and many beautiful architecture and Meiji buildings, each with an educational description of it's uses and relevant histories. A lot of effort was put into the exhibits' details and the write-ups were done very thoughtfully. We were lucky to be there during an anime collaboration with Golden Kamuy, where there was a mystery walk (I.e. cluedo) which helped bring the buildings to life. Only qualm is that all descriptions are in japanese so some things are lost in translation, but pictures and artifacts are good enough to feel the history. Highly recommended for Japanese history buffs. Transport from the nearest train station is very convenient and accurate. There are plenty of eateries within the museum, though a bit pricier than outside. Parking is available outside the museum. Visitors can also pay for tour pacakges or to dress up in Meiji attire. Be prepared to walk a lot and take lots of nice photos.
If you love architecture, this museum is a must! I dreamed of visiting it for 18 years, and it didn't disappoint! As many, I went just for the FLW Imperial Hotel Lobby, however my experience here made me interested in Meiji era architecture. The smell of wood and the unpretentious authenticity of buildings in a serene nature setting transport you back in time. I can't wait to go back and explore more!
It's a must visit place. 3 hours only if you run around, so plan to stay longer. Very cozy places to sit and eat or just drink coffee. Loved it, any time of the year. A bit treaky to walk, but possible, though the bus is recommended, costs 500yen from Inuyama station and bus stop is marked.
Exceptional experience. I loved every minute. FLW’s Imperial Hotel was the highlight for me, but each building in the grounds is beautiful and interesting in its own right. So many amazing structures that a single full day’s visit was barely long enough. In hindsight, I would have scheduled two separate visits across two days. If visiting from OS, I recommend the ticket package covering one-way transport from Nagoya + ticket to Inuyama Castle + ticket to Meiji Mura (a good deal).
Excellent open-air museum with beautiful original Meiji-era buildings. Lots of different architectural styles to see and explore. My favourite part of the Nagoya trip! The only thing to look out for is the return bus times. There is only one every hour and the second-to-last-bus of the day was packed to maximum capacity. Luckily the staff let you know as you enter when the last buses are.

I have been to Little World many many times over the ten years. Because there's always different food fairs throughout the year it never gets boring to visit. The walking course is around 3 kilometers to finish and generally takes around 2 to 3 hours to complete, depending on how many pavilions I stop at. My favorite pavilions are generally the Peru, Germany and Italy pavilions as those usually have the best food in my opinion. There are several other pavilions worth visiting as well, however. It's also worth mentioning there's a small coffee shop that sells the best Kona coffee when it's open and is always the highlight of visiting Little World. Generally it's only open on weekends. If you don't want to walk there are buses available, I think the bus fare is ¥500 but I never use the bus so I'm not 100% sure if that's still what it costs. In spring Little World is particularly beautiful with all the blooming flowers. Sakura season is especially beautiful there.
Good for solo travelers I love the immersive experience, especially the collecting of stamps. It felt like I am traveling to another country. Sadly some of the infrastructure are under construction, but you can still enjoy the view both inside and outside.
Nice place that serves as exhibits for various cultures throughout various points in history. It goes through the history of various people like the indigenous Americans, the Micronesians, the Ancient Greek, Africans, Japanese, Chinese, etc. Only gripe is that it's very hot during the summer with not a lot of summer. Also, this is a place in which you can spend a whole day, but there are not many food options in the museum/park itself.
We came around 5pm during Obon holiday for the late opening until 8pm. There was a food market and Thai lantern event with a fireworks show. Included in the ticket price this was quite a bargain. The only issue is that due to everyone leaving at the same time, traffic was gridlocked and it took about one hour just to leave the car park! Plan ahead and leave slightly early if you can to avoid this.
I took my 9 year old here. First, it’s huge. There is a lot to see. It’s very unique. A bit of history. Plus, you can introduce your kids to other cultures. And, the kids can buy a passport book for ¥400 and collect stamps. The stamps are really nice. They are ink stamps. Just a couple of negatives. It’s a little expensive (¥1,000 for parking?!!). ¥2,200 for an adult. They allow dogs, which is fine, but I think they should put a strict rule about the dogs. One dog was very excitable and kept barking and trying to get people. It was rather annoying. And, there was a group of people with huge dogs. I asked if I could pet one, they motioned to the one I could pet As I stepped toward it, their other huge dog leapt at me and barked aggressively. If dogs are not friendly, they should not be allowed in. The place has a few areas in need of repairs. One set of stairs was crumbling. We stayed about 5 hours. Overall, it’s worth the trip. Just be aware of the cost, and the numerous dogs.
A good place for day out with loving ones. Pets also allowed. There are various kinds of restaurants of various countries. As long as it’s name Little world 🌎, you can see only few countries here. I think they missed some world famous civilizations and countries. However here you can enjoy 😉 Some places are just like a park and gardens. There are smoking areas also here. Enjoy 😉
It's not well kept, so I would say the entry fee needs to be revised. But it does give you a glimpse and taste from other countries/regions. Would recommend that you wear comfortable shoes because the displays are about a 2-5 min walk apart
If you like nature and knowing something about other countries, this is the place you should go. My son enjoyed too. There's just one thing, not all the exhibits are accessible for wheelchair or stroller. I bought the ticket at the train station, it was amazing. They charged me only ¥3900. That included the train tickets, the bus ticket, the access at Little world and when we got there they gave us ¥1500 in cash coupon!!!

Both are cool! A brush pen for writing dates was also provided as a courtesy, as well as a special paperweight and a writing sample. You can even try a little calligraphy (lol).I thought it was great to see how much consideration was given to foreign tourists. You can also get a 100 Famous Castles stamp if you ask at the reception desk. This is not installed within the facility, so please ask at the reception desk. They responded very politely. Normally, you can't get the Inuyama Castle 100 Famous Castles stamp unless you pay the entrance fee and go inside, but since I was visiting on a public holiday during the fall foliage season, I had to wait 60 minutes to get in! I was thinking of giving up on stamps until my next visit, so I was grateful. The closest parking lot for Inuyama Castle sightseeing is Inuyama Castle Parking Lot No. 1, but it can be difficult to get in as there is a long line, especially on weekends. Although it is a little far away, we recommend parking at Inuyama Castle Parking Lot 2 (Uchida Kanko Parking Lot) on the east side. The price is the same and it takes less than 10 minutes on foot.

Sankoinari is a charming and picturesque Shinto shrine located in Inuyama. We took a train to Inuyamayuen Station and walked there. One of its unique tradition and attraction is the practice of washing money in the shrine's pond to attract wealth. Just pay 100 yen at the counter to redeem the basket, place your coins/notes (in whatever currency you prefer) into the basket and start washing! You then keep the notes that you washed in your wallet and not spend it, for the blessings. It's hilarious that some of the keywords on Google translate it as 'money laundering', as this ritual is definitely not illegal! The shrine also has an attractive short pathway lined with vibrant red torii gates, similar to the Fushimi Inari Shrine in Kyoto. Overall, It's a beautiful and serene place that must be part of your itinerary when visiting Inuyama。
Great Inari shrine, close to the castle. Not so crowded. If you want you can go to the overcrowded and more famous Inari in Kyoto, otherwise there are many other quiet and peceful places like this :)
Lovely place, cute keychains and omamori sold! Also a place to wish for good luck in relationships. The tori gates were similar to the ones at fushimi inari taisha, although fewer, good photo spot nonetheless.
Very nice and peaceful. The staff were really sweet. Goshuin : 500¥
This is the Shrine that you can see before you get into the Inuyama Castle. Many Japanese are visiting the area. You can also see some nice red torii gates around
The Temple or more precisely, Shrine, was traditionally worshipped and respected by the followers and believers for the farming harvest, although it is gradually transformed to be worshipped and prayed for the business and operation harvest. But the Temple even goes further by claiming that worshippers can donate to have candle lightening and then wash their money [notes or changes] in the washing pond inside the shrine. The photos here do show one female worshipper who did wash her money in small pond after candle lightening. The Temple also promotes other worship-and-pray-for-harvest for relations and others, in addition to business. Because the Temple is located near Inuyama Castle, most visitors would visit the Shrine together.
This shrine is at the foothill of the path toward the Inuyama castle
This was a nice shrine to visit with plenty of paid parking near by. There is also a cool castle right behind the shrine that is worth checking out.

Nice little park but mostly for kids, it would be more interesting for kids at this park.
Good One day experience...Water park was closed due to COVID.. Nice place to hangout with Family...Varieties of rides available to different ages..Near from Nagoya..😀😀
If you want your kids to enjoy amusement park, this is the place to go. There are so many attractions to choose from. My family of 5 bought an all day pass (all you can ride), it is cheaper as compared to buying each ticket for ride. My children enjoyed the rides. One of them was able to ride fire bird more than 10 times. There is almost no wait times for the rides. There are also so many restaurants/food stalls to choose from. You can also bring your own food and eat in any vacant table. My children want to go back again.
If don't really want too crowded amusement park, this is a place to go. Especially if you have toddlers. Most of the attractions are toddler friendly. My 1 year old baby is free from every fee. And the parents brought the one day pass so we can enjoy all of the attractions more than 1 time.
Ok while it is a family oriented park and the kids enjoy it. I noticed a couple things 1st my daughter was able to ride many more attractions at Disney and Legoland than here, they have the ride height higher. 2nd the older staff are very racist and anti non Japanese. My daughter who is 1/2 Japanese and 1/2 white felt it and so did I. Never felt this anywhere else in Japan and one been here more than 10 years. On the plus you can bring your own food and drinks if you choose. Very good family place.
An old fashioned theme park with aged rides and games. The price is a bit pricey for each ride.
Lots of Disney Ripoffs and not really worth the entrance fee (1100 yen) plus all day wristband (2900 yen).
Nice place, rides is affordable price nice to bring your kids.

One of the three best Japanese Gardens. A very nice place with a very helpful staff. It is incredibly beautiful and full of tea houses and all things pertaining to a traditional Japanese garden.
Lots of people seem to come here with discount coupons for staying at the hotel across or with public transport discount tickets. For those of us less fortunate, the full entrance price is 1200 yen per person. And another surcharge if you'd want to enjoy tea inside their tea room. On top of that, the lady at the ticket counter spent 10 minutes talking to two Japanese ladies in front of us, pretty much giving them a private tour while we waited in line along with a bunch of others behind us. Frustrating, especially if you have to pay an exorbitant amount to visit. Anyway... The garden, the grounds, and the buildings are nicely maintained. They breathe peacefulness into your body and soul as you stroll around. Some buildings have their doors open, so you can take a glimpse inside. We spent a good half hour walking around, taking pictures and enjoying the tranquility.
Even though it is a 'national treasure' class of tourism spot, it doesn't have the wow factor for average oversea visitors. Seems like if you are into the tea culture and history, you will appreciate it. It is a little overrated for me.
Really Beautiful garden. Lovely tea room. Friendly and welcoming staff. Thank you!
This is a very beautiful and very spacious Japanese garden with national treasure tea house, because we stayed at Hotel Indigo and we got free entry into this place...we tried the traditional Japanese green tea and toured around the garden...there is some good history and is a beautiful place to visit...we enjoyed our visit here...
Magnificent traditional Japanese garden with a nice tea house where you can enjoy a tea ceremony in a nice atmosphere.
A very beautiful, quiet garden. There are maps and materials in English as well as in Japanese. There's an option to add tea onto your ticket, so you can get some good Japanese tea as a part of the walk.
Very quiet garden, which is awesome! Not too far off from the Main Street of the touristy area. It is quite pricey & 1200/adult. Also, matcha and a dessert inside one of the traditional houses is an extra 600. People there are friendly and are interested in telling you more about the place but don’t expect them to speak any English.

Shrine at the base of Inuyama Castle. Average, as far as Japanese shrines go, but worth a visit on your way to the castle. Different shrines are associated with different things in Japan (Studying, Business, Health, and such), this shrine is for having children and your safety while giving birth. So, if that is something you are thinking about it’s a good idea to buy one of the good-luck charms when you visit (They come in pink and blue.). Offers ok views of the surrounding city and mountains, but slightly obstructed by tree. Wait until you’re at the castle to get a good picture.
The majestic shrine boasts an elegant and clean environment with stunning scenery.
Haritsuna Shrine is listed in the Engi-Shiki, in the chapter that lists Shinto shrines at the time. It is located in the Inuyama area as one of the Five Owari Shrines and enshrines the Sochinju (local Shinto deity) of the Nobi region. The Inuyama Festival at Haritsuna Shrine has been designated a national intangible folk cultural property. The shrine was relocated to its present location in 1882. Every year in April the famous Inuyama Festival is held, and is especially beautiful when the cherry blossoms are fully open and there is a parade at night of floats moving around by the light of paper lanterns, making for a dazzling sight.
You can pass by this shrine when going up Inuyama Castle.
A shrine near Inuyama castle. There is a marionette offering ceremony in front of this shrine, which is a main part of Inuyama festival in April.

A fascinating place to explore Japan's long history of mechanical puppetry is the Karakuri Exhibition Museum in Inuyama. It provides visitors with a close-up view of karakuri ningyō, which are intricately constructed wooden dolls that come to life through clever mechanics, as an extension of the Inuyama Cultural History Museum.  The restored workshop of Tamaya Shobei IX, a well-known ninth-generation karakuri master, is one of the museum's highlights. Visitors can learn more about the generations-old artistry by witnessing the painstaking process of puppet-making here. A range of karakuri dolls, including as those used in the Inuyama Festival floats and household tea-serving automata, are also on display at the museum. Each one exemplifies the fusion of artistic and technical elements that characterizes this cultural legacy.
It's a fascinating museum where you can experience Japan's traditional karakuri culture. It's especially worth seeing the exhibits and demonstrations of valuable karakuri dolls, including those used in the Inuyama Festival. However, those who aren't interested in karakuri might not find it enjoyable. You can enter here for free of you bought neighboring museum ticket.
The puppet and the exhibition is amazing. If you like toys or how tradition mechanical stuffs works, this place is a very good place to come and learn.
Learnt a lot about the Kamakuri dolls in Inuyama Festival 犬山祭.
Small speciality museum with thoughtful, friendly staff well worth a visit.
Interesting Japanese automatic dolls

Unusual shrine based on a children’s story, with a peach-shaped torii gate & colorful ogre statues.
Slide 1 of 8
We visited this shrine in spring 2025. It is a unique shrine featuring statues of characters from the story of Momotaro. There are cute peach-shaped ema, a peach-shaped Torii gate, and Momotaro-themed goshuin. Nearby shops sell cute ceramics and ice cream.
It located in a very small and quite village a little far to walk from the train station so we found a very nice mother who was willing to take us to this place for free. Much appreciated.
A surprisingly nice shrine. The statues of the Momotaro clan are, although not Louvre material, they are great for kids. The nicest part though is that there is a large and very beautiful park adjoining it. There are restaurants, toilet facilities, and other amenities.
This was a fun shrine to walk to from the station. It was a very peaceful day. The area is near a campsite and has a couple cafes in the area. I liked the peaceful nature of the site.
Momotaro = peach boy The momotaro folktale inspired statues are here and there in the shrine. Admission free. Daemons, the boy and his followers (dog, monkey and bird), old parents who raised up the boy. Some souvenir shops, eateries are there and a restaurant across the street beside the camp ground.
Took a bike and been amazed by place. Can’t believe I came to place where I only heard the stories from childhood.
If you want to come and visit this shrine you need a car. Drive from Nagoya to hear is absolutely breathtaking. As far as shrine goes it's okay.
This place is wonderful and refreshing. There is a camping ground just in front of it which is great for family and friend gatherings.

Great museum with fair prices(100 yen for adult) it has AC inside, and free restroom, with tons of interesting facts about Japan summer festival celebrations( the rolling cars, puppets, and Japan festival clothes and accessories)
Small museum for shrine ceremonial cars. There are many museums around Japan. This is not a 'must see' location.
Interesting festival rolling towers that used for wood puppets. They stored them here when festival not happening. Staff are always welcoming for all to tour the museum.
Very interesting! You get to see beautiful pagodas being used during their festival
very interesting. I will come back and join the festival.
A fascinating experience.
(Translated by Google) The Inuyama Festival floats are on display. Takayama's festival is famous, but Inuyama's is also quite impressive. I want to see it and feel it for myself. I'll do my best to visit Inuyama next year 👌 What is a "donden"? It depicts the spectacular turning of a float at a crossroads in the castle town.

A peaceful temple sitting on top of the hill overwatching the entire town. If you have time to spare, please do visit here as the first stop in Inuyama.
Beautiful temple complex with many different little shrines. It also offers a nice view of the catsle and the river.
One of the many Buddhist temple in Japan. This is in Inuyama and is situated on the hills. The temple has a very beautiful idol of Budha and I felt really peaceful while watching the Budha sitting in prayer pose. When I visited the temple in mid February it was not crowded. Was feeling peaceful while visiting the temple, it has the city view from top and it is beautiful especially during sunny day.
A large temple with stunning views to Inuyama Castle and river and mountains. It’s up a lot of steps but worth it!
Beautiful and so calm. Being situated on top of the hill, it gives you a beautiful overview of Inuyama city. Parking space is really spacious. Pretty close to Inuyama station.
It's an incredible place for those who like temples, and to venture out on these tours, it's simply incredible. :)
An amazing and beautiful Shrine/Temple on the hills of Inuyama. The scale of this place is awe inspiring. There is a fantastic and enormous vermillion gate and many other beautiful buildings adorning the mountainside. It is really worth the trip!
Only about 170 steps separate you from a great experience in the main temple. It's free. Lovely cats in the lower area. Don't waste your water, they only want food and love.

(Translated by Google) After touring the inside, as I was about to say thank you and leave, someone kindly told me that the roof of the house is quite distinctive and that I should take a look at it before I leave. When I looked it up after getting back, I found out that the rounded roof is a type of roof called a 'Kariyoke'. In addition, the building is two stories from the front and one story from the back, and apparently has a two-story banko structure. Both the exterior and the interior of the building are free to visit and there are many interesting facilities, so it's definitely worth stopping by when you're touring the castle town.
If you like old Japanese houses and your around the area, why not visit this place since it's free! The staff were also super nice! You can enjoy some Japanese sweet and a cup of Japanese tea here.
A very interesting museum that is so easy to miss as there aren't any flashy signs outside. Free entry. We didn't spend much time as we were on the clock to catch the train, but I could have gladly stayed longer. A fascinating glimpse into (somewhat wealthy) living in olden times. Few signs, none in English IIRC. No brochure IIRC. Just go in and soak up the atmosphere.
A little surprise .. a good look at an old house
Really interesting old kimono shop that was restored from quite the state based on the photos. Definitely worth stopping by for a visit if you have the time
(Translated by Google) We stopped by here while strolling around Inuyama Castle town. It's free to visit. We were surprised at how much deeper it is compared to its width. Apparently the building is a registered tangible cultural property. A volunteer gave us a detailed explanation inside the building. It was a great way to get a glimpse of what life was like back then. You can also get a free Rekigai card here. Be sure to stop by when you're strolling around Inuyama Castle town. The tiles are beautiful. Other old merchant houses have tiles that are carefully crafted and have family crests on them. I was thinking about this while strolling around. You can see the Goemon bath and the remains of a well (free). The staircases are shaped like shelves, which is a nice touch. Excellent autumn temple to go to. Be prepare to climb , they do have a small little cable car(meant previously for apples). But you will definitely miss the sights. It also has a nice view of the nearby areas with loads of mountain/forest in different colours (due to fall) Most visitor are japanese with few foreigners so it is really a gem! It does offer a shuttle bus during fall season from inuyamayuen for 100 yen per ride!
This is an exceptionally beautiful shrine (Kannon) in the hills surrounding Inuyama. It is located near Momotaro Shrine. It has some very beautiful buildings and the surrounding nature is fantastic especially at this time of year (autumn). There is an amazing view from several places at the top. There are a lot of steps, but it’s definitely worth the climb
Wonderful temple in hills with great views to surroundings.
A little bit crowded on a weekend but totally worth a visit in Inuyama
Great place for hiking. Provides good view upon reaching the top.
Excellent momiji and skyline views of Inuyama castle and the monkey park. Sounds of temple bells and lots of stairs.

This museum, designed by I.M. Pei, features rotating exhibits of ancient art & antiques.

In a word, magnificent. I.M. Pei's magnum opus is both soul moving and sublime at the same time. The level of detailing is incredible, from the effortless integration of the stone handrails flushed within walls to the consistently aligned and uniform gap widths between stone floor, walls and steel structure throughout the entire museum is mind blowing. The level of effort in planning and construction is simply out of this world and we've not even started with the genius and majesty of the architecture housing the priceless artwork. The architecture really begins with the elegant approach to the actual physical structure of the museum, both very deliberate and visually arresting. Once inside, the awe and amazement culminates with the soaring steel structural lattice framework of the glazed roof and the carefully composed and framed views of the distant scenery of mountains and his own other nearby project, the 'Joy of Angels Bell Tower'. The rest of the museum is a joy to navigate and explore given I.M's mastery of incorporating clear and intuitive circulation throughout the building. This museum should be on everyone's bucket list especially aspiring as well as practising architects. A masterpiece well deserving of all the accolades bestowed on it over the years.
It's a good 50minutes bus ride to the museum and there's a vending machine by the bus stop number 3, which you can purchase the bus ticket and the museum admission ticket. Highly suggest to get both the bus and admission ticket at that vending machine to save he trouble. Please note vending machine only accept cash or IC card, ie no credit card. The architecture of the entire museum and the famous walkway towards the museum is quite breathtaking, and we spent half of our visiting time taking photos of the buildings. The actual collection wasn't as impressive as the architecture in comparison.
Visiting this remarkable mountain-side building was an absolute delight. The museum’s striking architecture, combined with its breathtaking natural surroundings, made the journey truly unforgettable. The bold, one-of-a-kind walkway leading to the main building was my favorite part, an experience that felt surreal. I loved every moment of it.
A temple disguised as a museum。 The journey through a tunnel from the outside world arriving at a natural temple built into the valley and mountain itself. Full of natural light & easy to navigate the place sets a slow thoughtful pace to life. IM PEI based the concept on the myth Peach Blossom Spring about an external paradise hidden but accessible.
Interesting museum superb architecture(Pei). Some nice old stuff to look at. The bus ride from the station was real neat as well nice view of mountain streams. Then a long tunnel to walk through to come to view the museum.
One of the most amazing museums I have visited! The building architecture is sublime and masterful It’s incredibly and respectful positioned and constructed The architect and the family sponsoring the construction and providing the extraordinary historical objects have given us an incredible gift The vistas are stunning Being off the tourist trail it’s calm and peaceful It took two hours of train and bus to arrive for a timeless experience So glad
The museum sits at the top of a hill and is a bit difficult to get to without a car. There are busses but truth be told I can't be bothered to figure them out (there's probably info on the museum website). The walk up to the museum from the parking lot is beautiful, to the point that I come here every year for the fall colors. If you don't want to or can't make the walk or if it's raining, there is a shuttle that leads from the parking lot up to the museum proper, but I recommend making the walk and taking in the scenery. The museum itself is a bit on the small side, but it's quiet, clean and well maintained. You can buy tickets at the little visitors center by the parking lot, but if you're like me and forget to buy a ticket before walking up to the museum, they have a vending machine inside by the lockers at the front.
We had wanted to visit since 2019 and finally we were able to make it this year. The architecture and design didn't disappoint. Miho Museum was designed by architect IM Pei, best known for the glass pyramid at the Louvre Museum and Bank of China building in HK. I hope we can come back again during the Sakura season.

A beautiful sprawling shrine in the foothills of Inuyama. The buildings and gardens are awesome. At this time ( early spring/late winter) there is a gorgeous display of weeping plum blossoms covering an entire hill behind the main temple area. It is extremely scenic.
It was an interesting shrine to visit. In the area is a collection of trees. Also is a shrine to the female reproductive organ in the shape of a rock which was interesting to see. It is very remote from the train station requiring either a good walk or taxi. I liked I was able to get a shrine stamp. It was nice.
Read as Ooagata Shrine. Many people call it Oogata Shrine.
Perfect place to see the early tree flowers.
A really beautiful and vividly colored shrine with an extensive and well- maintained grounds including lakes, hiking trail and weeping plum blossoms. Really fantastic. I will return!
It's nice to pray here.
A good place to refresh your mind
