Beautiful park with clean amenities overlooking a splendid lake. Nice easy trail including with strollers 🤗. Lots of picnic areas with grills and some with power outlets
Beautiful scenic lake surrounded by forest and hiking trails in the midst of urban area; well maintained facilities, lot of picnic areas with picnic benches and grills, pavilion for reservation for special events. Activities include boating, fishing, hiking.
The Lake Needwood Westside Loop, nestled near Derwood, Maryland, is a charming 2.6-mile circuit. This trail is wonderfully beginner-friendly, and I've had the pleasure of experiencing it in all seasons, with each visit leaving me thoroughly satisfied. During my most recent hike, a picturesque summer day graced by gentle rain, I once again marveled at the trail's unique character. On one side of the "loop," you'll find yourself immersed in lush woodlands, with occasional glimpses of the serene lake. On the other side, it's a delightful lakeside stroll throughout—truly the best of both worlds. One point to note is that the two sections of this loop aren't directly connected. To transition from one side to the other, you'll need to briefly cross a paved road, which sees light automobile traffic and some cyclists. The wooded portion of the trail can be a bit tricky to navigate, and I've admittedly lost my way here before. Thankfully, my trusty trail app has always come to the rescue. While this trail can attract its fair share of hikers, there are plenty of hidden pockets of solitude where you can truly immerse yourself in nature's embrace. Walking this trail feels like a tender embrace from Mother Nature herself—a feeling I cherish deeply. Please note that the trailhead isn't accessible by public transportation, but you can easily reach it via Uber or your own vehicle. Ample parking is available, ensuring a hassle-free start to your nature escape.
Such a beautiful and calm place. I haven't run into an rude people, everyone is so friendly and greets you as they walk by. It's dog friendly, kid friendly.
Beautiful parka love the trail
I rediscovered and enjoyed this park for most of this Summer. It is a beautiful place. I always walked around bass fishing and took a boat out a few times. It is very relaxing and there are many points to discover. I look forward to returning after a small break. If you haven't been her, go! There are walking paths, archery lanes, a stocked lake, boats and picnic area. Great local park.
Definitely my favorite place!
It has beautiful trail and picnic area! It’s so peaceful

Lake Needwood is a gem of a spot in Montgomery County. If you avoid the obvious areas, fishing can be awesome. The park itself is great. I've been fishing there for many years and finally decided to try the opposite shoreline and caught these beauties using a new lure called scat cover in green and blue fleck. The bass love it. There's also great crappie fishing here.
We stumbled across this state park on the internet and glad we did. We drove 1 hour to get there from Hagerstown. There was plenty of parking. The trails were easy to follow and clean. Loved there were stops to get off the trail for the dogs to play in the water. The lake was nice. Defintly would visit again and tell others.
This place is honestly beautiful. Fishing was alright, no big fish. Place is optimal for hiking I want to say. Lots of roots that help you on your way up and down. There's parking and it's pretty clean.
It’s perfect hike around the lake. It has kayak launch. And boat ramp. Beautiful area with Lake view. Got some nice colors right now. 2.5-3 miles lopes. Parking are in many places. Dog friendly!
Rock Creek Regional Park, located in Montgomery County, Maryland, encompasses the 75-acre Lake Needwood, created by the construction of a dam in 1965. The park offers boating and fishing opportunities on the lake, as well as an archery range, picnic areas, a playground, and an 18-hole golf course. A great place to enjoy nature, it offers a variety of outdoor activities, including hiking and biking.
Love this place. Really fun trails that definitely throw some challenging roots and gullies near the lake but certainly not too difficult. Fun to see and hear the animals all over the place.
It was a nice and organized park. The trails looked nice but I bet it’d look a lot better with leaves. Definitely gonna come back and explore more one day.
We played a nice concert here. Like any other event at Montgomery County's parks, it was amazing.

Rock climbing gym

this gym is a staple in our community. If you climb, you know, movement Rockville, or maybe earth treks, which was the gym that this was before movement purchased it. personally, I'm happy with movements acquisition because I feel as a Jim member. I now get more out of my membership. I love visiting the other locations and having gyms nearby when I travel because movement is such a big company. I've also noticed improvements in the climbing areas as well as the other areas of the gym even the bathrooms got renovated at this gym. The setting is fun here and it's a good spot for beginners or advanced climbers.
We had an amazing time at Movement Climbing! I came with my two daughters, and we all had such a great experience. What made our day truly special was our instructor, Rafael. He was absolutely the best — kind, encouraging, and super professional. Thanks to him, my kids felt confident and had a lot of fun. We’re definitely coming back!
Awesome place to rock climb! This place has literally everything you need to have a blast. This place also has a gym to workout and to work on your grip. They also sell cloths, climbing shoes, harness and energy drinks. 5 stars for 5 reasons 1. Great customer service is also provided by the staff! Everyone is literally friendly and nice. 2. Climbs that accommodate all age range from easy to difficult! Different section have different heights. Super fun climbs! 3. There is a gym that is under renovation but they literally have dumb bells, bench press and many more machines. There is also grip strength equipment as well. 4. Bouldering is awesome as well and super fun. Every so often they switch it up and it’s fun. 5. Price is relatively decent for what you get. I pay 108 per month and i think it’s worth it if you go often.
We love it at movement. Been to many other gyms and find they do a great job. From the setting to the front desk staff to the classes great job. One recommendation I have would be to have some maintenance on the bouldering holds brushing off the holds. My 14yo has tactile issues and doesn’t use chalk. After the hordes descend the chalk builds up and the holds have significant chalk buildup. Thanks again, the caring shows through.
Great experiences climbing here! The staff is great, the vibe is chill, and facility is clean. It is safe and people are courteous. There are a variety of different climbing paths for different skill levels. The bouldering is fun as well. It's not the largest climbing gym in the area, but definitely offers a great space and nice facilities.
I visited Movement while on a work trip to Washington. Came in the evening after work commitments, and asked about auto belays. The guy who worked there was AMAZING: Said, no auto belays but there's a group meeting every Wednesday at 6:30, in 10 minutes, who buddy partner for belayers. So if you wait 10 minutes, I can add you to their group booking and get you half price AND pair you with a belayer. Sure enough, I joined the group, the leader asked everyone's grades and experience and paired me with an outstanding and incredibly nice climber who knocked off 5.11 after 5.11 for 2 1/2 hours. Awesome to be made so welcome on a random turn up to a gym.
Great life experience to keep going and find your grip for higher elevation in life. The instructor lived down the street from me. Great muscle building routine
--- EDIT June 2, 2022 --- Management has raised prices TWICE in the past few months.. since they changed to Movement. They are now $100 for no new legit services or perks and they have awful guest pass rates of 6 PER PLAN PER YEAR. The air conditioning barely, if ever, seems to work. Very disappointing. Will most likely be canceling or at least freezing. -- OG post -- It’s great all around. Friendly staff, lots of climbing routes for both bouldering and top rope / lead climbing. Not bad for their membership price either.

Although the nature center was closed due to COVID, there were very nice areas for kids to play nearby. The trails were well shaded and very scenic along the creeks and around the lake. Not too many bugs either. Well maintained, but still lots of roots and slight elevation changes.
Nice trail network surrounding the nature center area, a beautiful creek crossing with large stepping stones to walk across to Lake Frank Trail
Hands on Fun! This Nature Center feels more like a museum. The rooms and exhibits make you feel a part of the history of Montgomery County, Maryland. The kids can interact with the displays including the two cave areas. The animals on display are remarkable inside turtles, snakes, frogs and more in the colorful reading and discovery room. The Raptor area outside with beautiful birds of prey. There are hiking trails down to the water, an outside classroom, and recycling/compost learning area. The bird feeders bring many small colorful birds. The play space out front has climbing logs, a bamboo teepee and some other assorted touch & learn items. We also enjoyed the main look by to relax as well as listen to the bird call box and learn about the indigenous people that once called this area home. Definitely a gem and would recommend anyone to come visit.
Well marked trails. Good parking and port-o-potties while Nature Center Closed
Such a wonderful place! There’s a lot to do for kids- several indoor interactive exhibits (more like play areas), a cool crawl-through cave, bird watching areas, and a really neat outdoor play area. There are several really easy hiking trails- we love to walk down to the pond to see if we can see the turtles and frogs. It’s such a beautiful area! We’ve been several times & still have more to explore.
Very cute lodge with neat cave and crawspace for kids. Well maintained trails for short nature walks.
Great location for kids birthday parties - - kids love running around the front area and have a great time with the various activities that they offer.
I've been going to Meadowside Nature Center since I was as old as my kids are now. It's a fun place to go, with lots of interactive, engaging exhibits. There is an indoor fake cave (currently without the water in their water features, something I hope they're in the process of fixing, not removing). There is a small area devoted to the olden time residents- both the Native Americans and settlers. There are many easy, fun hiking trails. There are outdoor exhibits and play areas. There are interesting animals. Staff is always friendly, helpful, and eager to share their knowledge. They also host fun, free events throughout the year.

We recently held our Cheers for Change event at 7 Locks Brewery, and it was a fantastic experience! The staff were friendly, helpful, and easy to work with, making the planning process a breeze. Our guests had a great time, enjoyed the brewery tour, and loved the beer. One guest even inquired about hosting her own event there because she had such a good time! Rockville is lucky to have a small business with such a quality product that supports the local community. Highly recommend!
Tap room is nice. It is dog friendly! Went when there was a food truck outside.
Best brewery in the area! Staff are all friendly, humble, super nice, and very helpful! Atmosphere is cool. I go by myself sometimes on Friday/Saturday nights and can meet people there. It’s a good local brewery that makes exceptional beer 🍻 Prices are great too!
For some reason this place turns out to be our most frequently visited. Beer selection is consistent: there is always 2 suiting our choices and 1 meeting the expectations. Dogs and kids are welcome, so if this isn't your preferred environment try to find a remote table. Not always possible, but worth a try. 2 restrooms, which is REALLY handy (!!) Seating isn't comfortable, so an hour is the most we have spent there. Maybe that is done intentionally to increase the circulation. Usually, there is a single person serving, creating a queue of 3-4 deep. Enjoy your visit! Hope this helps.
Really nice place to try a variety of beer. Chill ambiance, would be a fun place to hang out! The staff were polite and the bathroom was clean. Cool interior. It's hard to notice the place the first time because it's so tucked away
Excellent place to hang out with the crew. There's a food truck outside that u can get food from. The options on the food are not that extensive on the truck but doable. U r also able to bring in ur own food to hang out and play various card games with u and ur friends or family.
7 locks brewery is very nice sports bar feel. They had awesome FLIGHTS. And great tasting beer. Love the workers and the location is easy to find .
Stopped by this weekend with my mom and girlfriend. Tried my first sour! Not sure I liked it but it was a good time all round. Definitely want to come back when they have live music playing.

This is such a great place to come and relax. I enjoy stacking rocks by the water and bird watching. Everything is go i pick up a piece of trash that invonsiderates leave behind, I'd ask that everyone does this when they visit
Beautiful Nature Center in Rockville, MD. Stopped on by to check out their feeders, and explored the Nature Center and walking trails. Well maintained and great location to visit. Visiting and walking the trails, etc. is free but they do charge a fee for some of the programs they offer. Inside the nature center is an experience. Live animals including turtles and a Screech Owl. Various classrooms and lots of exhibits to educate yourself our your children. Well done. Plenty of parking with main lot and some overflow parking area
We have been to Croydon Creek Nature Center several times with our baby and toddler, and we just hosted our toddler’s birthday party here as well. Overall, the nature center is such a fun place for kids with lots of animals, games, hiking trails, and a great playground. Our toddler asks every weekend if we can go! Additionally, she LOVED her birthday party at the nature center (as did all of our guests)! It was very easy to book (but book early!) and the staff were very easy to work with when we had questions. Our host, Laura, was so enthusiastic, interactive, and really knew how to capture the kids’ attention. I highly recommend visiting or even hosting an event here! (Additionally, special shoutout to Sarah who drove our credit card to our house when we left it there!)
Excellent place to bring young children. We hiked the 2.5 mile loop (can be shorter) and let the kids play in the creek. We then came to the center here and found lots of live creatures to look at which thrilled the children. Staff are super friendly and answered all our children's questions. Give them a call to see when they are feeding the snapping turtle. I wish we could have seen that.
A free and fun place for younger children to learn about nature through puzzles and books and seeing the live animals ( turtles, fish, an owl, frogs and two snakes). We stayed for about an hour and it seemed popular for children. Check out the large snapping turtle! And cute crafts to do at home!
Amazing place. Always free. Cute playground that is different from the regular playground set up. My kids love climbing on the giant turtle and cooking in the mid kitchen. My kids love stopping by to see the animals, staff are always so friendly and knowledgeable. Great access to hiking trails and the creek.
Right outside of downtown Rockville is a nature preserve in Montgomery County with an amazing little nature center. This is a year-round place as the area has for four seasons and interest of flowers, plants and trees. The outside has hiking trails and gardens, there is bird feeder area for the enjoyment of any level ornithologist and a great little musical and play area for the kids. The building itself houses snakes, turtles and fish. Inside are nature learning books and toys upstairs and downstairs. There are classes for kids 18 months and up and a 2 to 5-year-olds class for a small fee. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly and if they don't know the answer they will find it out for you when it comes to nature. Definitely great for preschool & elementary kids and anyone who enjoys learning more about our natural habitat.
The employees here are really friendly and knowledgeable. There’s a bee exhibit that shows inside a hive with a queen and all. The grounds/trails are well maintained and has foliage to keep u cool.

This place is HUGE. It took about five minutes to walk from the entrance to where the playground and picnic tables are. Because it’s December on a typical cold day, I have this huge place almost to myself (I did pass by a few people while walking). I came for the promise of trails and still haven’t found them because this place is big enough you can almost get lost without gps! So I’m happy because I have a nice long walk just trying to figure out where the mean for people to take nice long walks!
Beautiful venue for ceremony and reception party. Staff was very nice.
Love this park every time I visit. It's close to downtown Rockville but feels like you're out in the country. Great nature center, hiking trails that go on forever! Very relaxing place to visit.
Was part of a private party at an event held in the mansion. It was nighttime so I i didn't get to see the exterior. The inside was pretty cool though, various pieces of art were on display. There is a rotating exhibit of donated art always on display it seems.
We got married here, it was a very nice setting with many areas to take photos. The staff very accommodating and informative. There is also a park and other amenities that we did not utilize. Nice place overall and very well kept, there was tons of parking also.
Not far from downtown Rockville, the RCC is another hidden gem in Rockville. This place is breath-taking with the Mansion in the middle of a beautiful scenery. Take a blanket and have a picnic, enjoy the nature beauty and take some amazing photos by the Mansion or in the gardens. The kids can run around, play at the playground and the you can visit the nearby nature center. If you are up to tennis, this place has four courts that are waiting for you to hit the ball. If you are still not tired, you can hike in the woods. What’s more than such a perfect day in the nature?
A STUNNING, fun-filled place for every age to enjoy! If you love hiking, tennis, playground, party 🥳🎉! Everything is in one place!
This place is so wonderful to explore! The trails are beautiful and outside the nature center has little activities for the kids!

Historic Colonial-style railroad station dating to 1940s, with a restored exterior & original decor.

Restored station has history of Silver Spring on the display with small exhibition, model of nearest blocks along Georgia Avenue, place for kids to play. There is a small parking lot and place is free to visit. It can be rented for private events and open to the public first Saturday of the month from 10 AM to 4PM. To find the place - It's by metro bridge over Georgia Avenue, on your right coming to DC.
They are open on the 1st Saturday of the month. It's a great low-key place to bring your kids. They can play with a wooden train set, listen to live music, and trainspot. There is a fenced in area (so you can let the kids run around safely) right next to the tracks where you can see the Metro and freight trains pass by.
Really neat space that shows the history of Silver Spring, a few model trains, and seeing the station people used to use to catch the B&O train. They host an open house with different groups displaying model trains every 1st Saturday of the month. Great for families and adults.
They have a great model railroad layout there.
Won't be booking a party there anymore. Don't even have to encourage my friends and family not to either. The place is nice, but the pressure from the employee makes the experience overall a failure. Not to mention, the place has a old musty smell, the Wi-Fi didn't work halfway through the party and no compensation. NEVER AGAIN!
I took the train in Silver Spring twice back in 1975. It was a nice place and the atmosphere was really from the sixties. I think the basic fare was 3.00 dollars. Richard Lange
Best slice of Silver Spring history to be found. Well worth supporting.
So glad the station has been restored and is in use for meetings. I just wish trains would stop there again.

St. Mary’s Church, Rockville, MD – A Welcoming and Peaceful Place of Worship St. Mary’s Church in Rockville, MD, is a deeply cherished place of worship, particularly among the Filipino community. Its serene and solemn atmosphere makes it an ideal spot for quiet reflection and meaningful prayer. The church is beautifully maintained, with an interior that inspires reverence and devotion. One of the standout features is the ample parking space, which is convenient for attendees, especially during busy services or community gatherings. The church fosters a strong sense of belonging, and its diverse congregation adds to its welcoming vibe. Whether you’re attending Mass, joining a religious celebration, or simply seeking a moment of peace, St. Mary’s Church is a sanctuary worth visiting. Its accessibility and connection to the community make it a treasured spiritual hub in Rockville.
If you're into architecture and history, St. Mary's is worth a visit. A historic parish, the 1817 church still stands next to a uniquely designed modern building. Park in the spacious lot outside and walk to the cemetery. Buried there is the great American author F. Scott Fitzgerald and his wife Zelda.
Today I been to st Mary’s Chruch for Ash Wednesday mass . Was really felt light heart and blessed after finishing the holy mass today . Well maintained and more spacious for the public who comes daily there . Specially they have a seperate cabin kinda space for the people who come with babies and kids so that they won’t disturb the mass . Already planned My Easter celebration also here . Highly recommend Chruch from my side .
Had no idea F Scott Fitzgerald was laid to rest at this church. I love the mass and am joining this perish. Have been coming to mass for a bit over a month now and can confidently say I’ve found my home. Always leave with a lighter heart.
Asked the priest a question about a life situation & in front of everyone he said the words: “Jesus would never forgive you… because he knows you’ll sin tomorrow.” Jesus will never forgive me?
The cemetery is cool because F. Scott Fitzgerald and Zelda Fitzgerald are there (their daughter, too!) But the path around the graves could be more clear. I appreciate the old feel of the place, but it should still be carefully maintained for the people who visit.
Dedicated priests for this large transient and smaller long term community. Mass follows traditional ordinary form with some infrequent Latin substituted. Always welcoming and faithful. Well cared for church buildings.
It's a nice church and the choir mass at 10:15 on Sundays is wonderful, once you get in after finding a parking spot. Parking is a major issue here as the church is surrounded by 2 state highways, the Metro tracks and a private driveway so there is no off-premise parking. If you double park here like many parishioners find themselves having to do, especially on the holy days like Easter, you take a chance on drawing the ire of someone who left Mass early since at St. Mary's, like at most Catholic churches many parishioners here think the Mass is over after they receive Communion and dash to their cars so they won't miss the early pickings at the buffet and finding this on your car afterwards...

Great local distillery. My buddy and I did a tasting in the summer and their Rum Punch and 1812 were incredible. Their 1812 tastes equal to Blood Oath and other ultra top shelf bottles. We bought a few bottles, but now need to physically go back and get more. ABC's don't carry them and we don't know of anywhere else to buy them besides their tasting room. The owner mentioned that they also sell at certain farmer's markets. But not sure which ones.
I haven't even been to the establishment yet and I'm already having a bad experience. I'm in town from Kentucky, so of course when I hear bourbon I go running. I'm calling the phone number of the business trying to confirm the hours because Google says something different than the website. Google says they close at 10:00 p.m. but the website says they close at 5:00 p.m. I've been calling for 2 days now and no one answers the phone and the voicemail is full. Now I have to decide if I want to risk taking an Uber to the location for it to possibly be closed. I'll never understand why people own businesses but don't answer their phone! It's like, the beginning of the customer service experience....
We love this distillery, they have a great selection of liquors and mixed drinks. In addition, their new facility has such an amazing atmosphere. The bar manager is also very down to earth and helpful. He shared very kind and clearly responded to all of our questions. We love all of their rum products and their peanut butter whiskey.
Having a good time at the distillery does not make for a decent whiskey! The 1812 product is NOT top shelf! Even cherry coke doesn't help. Twin Valley needs to focus on doing one thing right in lieu of shot gun alcohol products.
Love their bourbons, but their website is inaccurate and I made the trip out to the distillery for nothing. I bought a Groupon for a tasting, checked the distillery's hours on their own website, and drove an hour to Rockville, only to find a locked door. Furthermore, there was a "For Lease" sign and the inside looked in disarray, so I doubt it was a one-off closure. I called the number listed on TV's website, and it kept ringing with no answer. Fortunately Groupon offered a refund.
Wasn’t able to try, got a Groupon and made the drive out of town to try it out on a Sunday after verifying on their website, Groupon, and google for working hours … just to see it closed all day Sunday. They should really update their voicemail and website for hours. Disappointing but at least Groupon refunded me
Went for a tasting, the bartender was very knowledgeable and had great stories. The owner was very nice as well, bought a few bottles and the rum punch is great
Great low key joint with awesome drinks and fun live music. If you are in the mood for something fruity, you will love the pineapple sunrise. 😁

Discovered this place a few months back and we’ve found ourselves coming here often, my kids love playing on the gorgeous grounds. They have a great hill by the parking lot, which became a mini ski resort when it snowed. Had no idea it was this popular! Beautiful in every season!
Located in Rockville, Maryland, Glenview Mansion Park is a hidden gem offering a peaceful escape from the city. Beautiful grounds with friendly staff. I look forward to returning when cherry blossoms are in bloom and again the theatre reopens.
Beautiful location, great for weddings and other celebrations. Nice art gallery, too
Beautiful building and grounds/gardens, for a walk any day, or an event. Fun for the kids to run around and explore, plus a great playground. Nature center and trails nearby. If you haven’t been, put it on the top of your list. Plenty of parking.
Glenview Mansion in Rockville, MD is a charming and historic venue. The mansion itself is beautifully preserved, making it a great spot for events and weddings. The surrounding gardens are well-maintained and provide a picturesque backdrop for photos. Overall, it’s a lovely place for special occasions and a step back in time.
We got married here, it is a part of the rockville civic center. It was a very nice setting with many areas to take photos. The staff very accommodating and informative. There is also a park and other amenities that we did not utilize. Nice place overall and very well kept, there was tons of parking also.
Nice venue and the space was ok. A little older but from what I could see, the grounds were kept up nicely. (Night event) I would have given it 5 stars but the staff at the end of the night was very pushy and took a little away from what was a great night. I definitely understand that when you rent a space on a weekday and it's late people want to get home, I truly do understand but at the same time, if an alloted time is given to have your event and a clean up time afterward, please allow the the renters to do so without hovering like vulchers on a carcass. It was very uncomfortable and if the renter doesn't comply to the clean up, by the way we did, then deduct it from the security deposit collected in advance. If I could have given a 3.5 star rating I would have but a good time was had so I will give them the benefit of the doubt and also ALL the staff wasn't like that just two (2) so I won't penalize the whole group for a few bad apples but I can tell they were probably the Senior Staff and felt they had the authority to do so but renting there again, probably not just because I wouldn't want to chance that occurrence with staff again. But hey our experience may not be yours.

I attended a public meeting here. I also stopped on the first floor to visit Peerless Rockville inside the Red Brick Courthouse. I learned about Rockville's African American History and Rockville's Heritage. It is a wealth of information about the Underground Railroad in Rockville.

The guides are knowledgable and friendly. Great hidden gem of a museum. Nice walk from Rockville Town Center. Separate street parking available if their parking lot is full.
(January 16, 2021) Very interesting find. I noticed "Rockville's African-American Heritage Walking Tour" sign. So I became interested in learning about what surround's it. I never heard of this in all the years I use to live in Rockville.
Great tour guide. She done a wonderful job telling and showing the history. I do recommend this to others, the tour and history of the Beall -Dawson house.
Website says open get there not open no signs stating hours or anyone around to ask.
Quaint museum and archive documenting the history of Montgomery County, Maryland. Very nice and knowledgeable staff.
