The visitor center was informative, had excellent exhibits. The driving tour and stops very helpful to grasp the vast area and movements of the armies.
The walk through the woods to the battlefield is 1.2 Miles. There are information stations along the way. The visitor center is a must-see museum.
Among other things, a great place to find some awesome mushrooms. One of the few forests in the area that leaves the deadfall trees to rot, which makes for a much more diverse forest floor. Also a great place to run if you get there early (before 8 AM). If you start at the parking lot and run all the way to the end and back it's about 2 miles. Finally, it's the place where Stonewall Jackson was shot by his own men, likely completely altering the course of the war. He was treated nearby at Elwood Manor, where his arm is buried, and died in Guinea Station, also nearby.
Big fans of our National Parks and Chancellorsville does not disappoint. The park was clean, friendly staff, and history rich. The displays in the visitor center were exceptionally well dne too! We were extremely happy to pay homage to the sacrifices made here and learn for a better future.
The trail takes you right through the battlefield. Its a long walk, with plenty of nature to see. Be sure to bring with you water and a snack.
Excellent NB site. Most history folks know this is where Stonewall Jackson was mortally wounded in a friendly fire incident. What you may not know is this also the 2nd bloodiest battle after Antietam (just the one day). Good exhibition inside of the visitor center. Didn't see the movie as I listened to the ranger talk by Lee Anne. She was a wealth of knowledge and a lovely person and had answered all of the groups questions without missing a beat. One of the Confederacy's greatest pyrrhic victory it could be argued.
We've done such a great job as a nation preserving our past. Chancellorsville is a great example. Not only had much of the battlefield been preserved, but the NPS app with its self-guided tours, the signage on the fields and the ever-helpful NPS staff make this such a fulfilling experience.
Site of the 1863 battle between Lee's Confederate forces and Hooker's Union forces. This is also the battle where Stonewall Jackson was accidentally shot by his Confederates and later died nearby. There is a memorial to Jackson, where he was presumed wounded. The visitor center is quite nice and the staff were very helpful and informative. They have a memorial wall of all who fought in the battle and my wife was able to locate some long lost relatives that fought on the Union side. There is a driving trail that takes you to multiple stops including, the Bullock House, the Chancellor House, McLaws Line, Slocum's Line, and Hazel Grove. National Park passport stamps are located in the visitor center and include the Battle of the Wilderness, which is a short drive away.

We stayed two nights in the campground area. We had a lovely visit. Some sites are closer together than others but the variety of the area is perfect for every kind of camper and family. The rangers and hosts were helpful and kind. The bathrooms and showers were such a great amenity! I saw previous reviews that the area wasn’t perfectly clean but that was not my experience. These areas were cleaned daily and considering the volume of folks over a holiday weekend, it was pretty much immaculate. The lake and beach per reviews I read would be packed and busy but they were not that congested despite it being a holiday weekend. I thought there was plenty of room to do swimming, relaxing and paddle boarding. There are a lot of jet skis and boats because it is an active lake but No Wake zones and designated areas are clearly marked. The beach is definitely higher volume but we did plenty of beautiful trails that were quiet and scenic. Our tent area was cozy and all our neighbors were lovely. Thank you all for a wonderful weekend!
Unfortunately I had to plan way in advance due to all weekends being booked, but worth it! The park was beautiful and well maintained. All the staff member we encountered were friendly and happy to see us! Stayed at site #38 which had plenty of space and distance between other sites. Water & power were very good and plenty of room on site for my tow vehicle. Cell coverage (Verizon) was weak, but available. The roads are wide and look as if they can accommodate you big rig drivers. The trails (hike/bike/horse) were well maintained and if you want you can get a lot of miles in we did 5 plus just on 3 trails. The beach was really nice and access came with renting the site. The beach staff were young and didn't have much control of who was suppose to be in the paid beach area? They even left all the swimmers alone for a "mandatory 30 min break" which I found strange, verses rotating their shifts? All and all it was a great stay.
We stayed in Yurt #1 and had such a great time! It’s in a perfect spot—close to the bathrooms and laundry room, but not too close. Everything was very clean, and the area felt well cared for. The yurt had one queen bed and a pull-out twin bed, which worked out perfectly for our family. We received four swim passes, which we think it's for lake swimming when the lifeguards were on duty. The whole area was beautiful! We visited just after Memorial Day weekend. The weather was a little chilly, but we still had a great time playing in the sand, enjoying nature, and swimming in the lake. The yurt doesn’t come with blankets or pillows. We didn’t know that beforehand, but luckily we brought our own from home. There’s no electricity or running water inside the yurt, which we expected, and it added to the camping adventure! There were plenty of tables and chairs. You can buy ice and firewood at visitor center near the entrance. Our little one woke up early because of the skylight at the top, so if you or your little ones are light-sensitive, an eye mask might help them sleep a bit longer. We’re definitely planning to come back again—it was such a fun and peaceful family getaway!
Great beach area with bbq grills and some tables. Plenty of parking. Good hiking trails. Bathrooms are always clean as are the grounds. The staff are always pleasant. Boat launch and pavilions also available, playgrounds too. Entry fee $10 per car
I wish I could have come earlier. We spend around 2 hrs until dusk. We still enjoyed a bit of a hike with our dogs and a walk in the beach front.
Had a great time. Lake was awesome and easy to launch or skis. Park was well maintained. Loved the trails and off path beach spots we found too.
First of all, I wasn't here to swim or horse ride or boat or anything which this lovely park seems to cater to. If I was, I'd probably give it 5 stars. However, I was here to hit the trails, and while they weren't bad, I certainly wouldn't recommend them above trails in other parks. I went out the Sawtooth and looped around the other trails to come back on the Turkey Run. Nothing wrong with them, but nothing about them made me say "Wow, I have to come back!" But man, if I had been in the mood for a swim (and, like, brought my swimsuit and sunscreen) would have been 5 stars for sure.
It's a fun place all around i used to go to the beach part when I was younger but it's great for everyone, I usually go there now just for the trails which are nice just watch for horse droppings as they are walk, run, bike and horse trails all in one. But the trails are nice and have some cool history and some nice water views and benches at the nice view areas.

Awesome time at Lake Anna Winery! Used our Harvest Hosts membership to camp there overnight. The staff was super friendly and helpful and they had amazing wine choices. We'll be back!
After leaving the lake, stopped by this charming little winery on the way home. We didn't realize it was almost closing time. This site has indoor and outdoor seating available. Social distancing signs and mask wearing by all. We were able to do a flight and chose 2 bottles to bring home. The wonderful lady who helped us was very friendly and knowledgeable about their wines. Her suggestion to us was the perfect choice for us. This winery is included on the Heart of Virginia Wine Trail.
Beautiful Virginia winery near Lake Anna State Park. The barrell select Chardonnay is delicious, great venues with awesome bands. Wonderful owners. Need to visit.
Friendly and engaging staff. The wine is decent. I preferred their Whites and the dessert Port. They have seasonal events, which are pretty fun too.
Finally got to check this place out. Took a break from the lake for a day and went to check out Lake Anna winery. The drive way was a little difficult for our driver to find but no worries we found it eventually. Staff was great and a nice relaxed setting. Plenty of seating. I don't know much about wine but they were all good to drink. Would definitely recommend giving it a try
Decided to try this place because my boyfriend and I were staying nearby for a little weekend getaway and a winery sounded good. There weren’t many people here and the staff devoted so much attention to us. They were incredibly knowledgeable and helpful, introducing each of us to 3 or 4 of their wines that we absolutely loved. One of the women even convinced us to get 3 bottles to take home! Only thing that would have made it better was if we went on a day they had a food truck but honestly the wine and service was so good, who cares!
What an awesome winery so close to Richmond and yet a beautiful country setting. Really enjoyed Spotsylvania Claret. Our friends raved about one of the whites. We stayed overnight in our tiny teardrop trailer as a Harvest Host Guest and were warmly welcomed by friendly staff. And to beat it all, there was a great live band Saturday evening.... we were able to social distance while enjoying friends, music, dancing, and wine... all in all an easy 5 Star vineyard. We will be back for more of their fine wine. Thank You LAW.
What a wonderful place! Nice variety of wine, be prepared to pay $8 for a tasting. The staff was friendly and personable. There's a wine here for everyone. My wife fell in love with their ice wine - candy in a bottle she said. I liked the chardonnay but preferred their totally white.. nice atmosphere other sundries available, such honey and salsa

I recently visited Wilderness Run Vineyards and had a fantastic experience! I opted for the flight of four wines, which included the White Dessert, Port Style, Monroe Merlot, and Orchard Peach. Each wine was unique and delicious, but the Orchard Peach initially stole the show. However, I also had the opportunity to try the Port Chocolate Port, and it quickly became my new favorite! Rich, decadent, and perfectly balanced, it's a must-try for anyone visiting the vineyard. It is by far the best chocolate port I've ever tasted. The vineyard itself is lovely, with plenty of parking available in the open field. Just be aware that parking may become a challenge on rainy or snowy days. The staff is friendly and welcoming, and the venue is reasonably large, making it an ideal spot for events or casual visits. Overall, I highly recommend Wilderness Run Vineyards to anyone looking for a great wine experience!
Lovely place, loads of room for different parties, plus live music on certain days/nights. We went for a friend's birthday party and stayed until they closed. Lots to drink, food options are limited. Pretty over-priced charcuterie and cheese box. They had a food truck, but it ran out of propane. I suggest eating first. Lots of animals and livestock around. And they have restrooms and dirt/gravel parking. Beautiful place.
Just a wonderful place to get outside and enjoy a glass of wine. Took our dogs with us and walked around enjoying the horses, cows, roosters, and other wonderful scenery, We've gone a few times and there's typically a great food truck or more and of course a wonderful cigar selection and brewery onsite as well.
My husband and I frequently stop by the Winery/1781 Brewery to catch up with family and friends. The atmosphere has always been wonderfully relaxing. We love sitting beneath the trees, enjoying the music, and engaging in conversation with one another. I’m quite discerning when it comes to wine, and my husband considers himself a beer connoisseur, yet we have never had any complaints about the quality or cost of either the wine or beer. Over the years, I’ve visited this place numerous times for various occasions, and I can confidently say that my experiences have always been very positive. I also value that they are family-friendly while recognizing the importance of a cut-off time for children. In my opinion, the 8 PM cut-off for kids is reasonable, considering this is an operational farm and Winery/Brewery. The potential dangers for children can increase significantly if they are out of sight during the evening hours.
Wilderness Run Winery is just delightful. It was like a mini vacation being in their beautiful, serene setting. We sampled several of their wines, and found them to be quite good. As fans of California Cab’s and French Bordeaux’s we felt their reds held their own quite well, and we bought several bottles to enjoy at home. The winery is located on lovely rolling hills dotted with rows of vines. An “over 21” area is nestled under towering trees. Two Koi ponds with a waterfall drew us in. And numerous cozy seating areas invited us to relax and enjoy the ambience. All of the staff we interacted with were very welcoming and helpful. We wish we didn’t live so far away as this winery is definitely a place we would like the frequent.
Went to Wilderness Run because my wife said we needed “fresh air” and “family time.” I said, “Does the beer come with that?” She said yes. Five stars. Ordered a flight. Didn’t take off, but I did achieve a smooth landing in a chair near chickens. Not metaphorical. Actual chickens. Named one Kevin. He judged me, but in a supportive way. Tried an IPA so hoppy it may have briefly achieved sentience. finished it. Shed a tear. My son asked if I was crying. I told him it was allergies. It was emotions. The kids played on the hill. I played with the idea of moving into the cornfield and starting a new life. Brewery has that effect. Would return. Not because I need to. Because I must.
For the last 3 years I have visited WRV with my coworkers to celebrate retirement of staff/family moving on from dedicating and giving their all to their students to now dedicating 100% of their time to their family and loved ones. We cannot say enough about the lovely Denise, her daughter Victoria and all of the staff and how WONDERFUL they treat us and welcome us with open arms! We will be back OFTEN and we absolutely LOVE the environment, the beauty of the place, the amazing view and all the owners/workers! THANK YOU AGAIN FOR AN AMAZING TIME!
We had our daughters 21st birthday celebration here and could not be more pleased. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We brought our own food which is allowed and the staff even placed the cake in their cold room until we were ready for it. There are two food trucks on site which we sampled the previous day while we were checking out the place to get the feel of it before our guests arrived the next day. We highly reccomend the steak fries. They even have a brewery for those who do not care for wine, which is a good bonus. And both days that we had visited there was live music. My only issue is the website form to get info on events or additional info on the vineyard can use some upgrading.

One of my favorite wineries!! A family owned winery, attention to detail is paramount. Today we enjoyed their Deviled Egg pairing, by far the best we've had!! Take a look at this picture, delicious and delightful!!
This winery is a sweet escape for berry wine enthusiasts. From the moment you step onto the rustic grounds, you're enveloped in warmth and charm. The friendly staff guide you through a delightful tasting experience, showcasing their luscious berry wines crafted with care. Each sip bursts with the vibrant flavors of ripe berries, leaving your palate craving more. Whether you're a seasoned wine aficionado or a newcomer to the world of fruit wines, this charming winery offers an inviting atmosphere and a delectable selection that's sure to leave a lasting impression. They offered multiple sangria options as well.
Had the pleasure of trying these wines at James River wine festival and they ALL were amazing!! The faves were Lavender Lemonade, Mimosa and the Sangria all were delicious 😋 The owner Miss Janette was great and very personable. She even offered a military discount! Thank you so much for being so nice. Looking forward to visiting the winery and telling friends. Continued Blessings to you and your staff 🙏🏽🤗
We live very close to this winery. The club house is so beautiful v the staff are friendly and helpful. I had the strawberry chocolate wine and my man had the strawberry shortcake in a complementary wine glass. Both were great! UPDATE: Everybody needs to come out and try the caramel apple teeny. They have it hot or cold and it’s great hot on a very cold day. Very inventive and absolutely delicious
I see many good reviews and a few not so good. Here is mine: this winery was at an event in our area last year. A few wines tasted pretty good, the sangria and chambourin, which I purchased. The wines have NO SHELF LIFE whatsoever. The Sangria exploded 2 days after purchase. (yes I said that, blew the cork off across my dining room). I contacted the winery and was offered a replacement, which was difficult to manuever by their busy schedule. Was finally mailed a gift certificate. I tried the Chambourcin a few months later; it was absolute garbage. Sorry but fact. It tasted like grape juice literally. I poured it down the drain. Still have the gift certificate. May gift someone else with it when they are at the next event I attend. $50 spent with nothing but a taste of 1 of the wines.
I have never bad a bad experience. The staff is always polite, friendly, and helpful. I love their little food pairings and that my son can run around in the large open field!
The wine (especially their seasonal wine) is great and so are the hosts! I come here to get their Better Together wine, which legit, tastes just like peanut butter and jelly!
Heading home to Ohio from Williamsburg, a traffic detour took us past this quaint and quiet winery. The owner is part Indian, which the winery gets its name and decor. The wines were all unique and very good. Natalie, our server, used to be a customer and now helps manage behind the bar. The view is very peaceful and the people are very nice. One customer in particular befriended us and shared his bottle of wine. We are grateful to have made a new friend in Virginia. We will definitely be visiting again.

We stayed in a 6-person cabin with hot tub. It was like a tiny log cabin--very comfortable with kitchen, medium fridge, two small bedrooms and sleeper sofa, AC. Very clean! Very quiet at night with view of the lake. Most of the cabins are right on the lake with a picnic table and fire pit. The large outdoor pool just up the hill from the lake and beach was great. Adirondack chairs at the little beach near kayak, etc rental. The kids really enjoyed it. Midweek rates were reasonable. We would definitely visit again. Many excellent dinning options off-resort a short drive away (Harry's Alehouse was fantastic!). Very restful getaway. Reservation staff were so nice and friendly.
The cabins are awesome! The outdoor pools are awesome they both have small slides and one has a diving board. The indoor pool has too much chlorine and is not big enough for the amount of people that come off season. For 2 years now the beach and the grass are full of poop. It's disgusting! The cabins are awesome. I have stayed in them many times but don't go to the beach. The rock climbing and the zip lining are awesome also! The food girl has not been open every time. I'm here and the recreation hall has certain things but sometimes they don't do things like the movies because they say nobody shows up so not a lot going on there. The ice skating is fun that and that is year-round. All in all, it's a beautiful place to stay with many things to do yet has many disappointments that could be fixed.
The cabin was so cute and comfortable. We really loved it. We had hoped to utilize some of the amenities but it was so hot the week we were there it was oppressive so we just enjoyed the serenity of being at the end of the campground. We would have loved to have played pickleball in the well maintained outside court we saw. We looked at the gym. While definitely cooler than outside, it would probably get hot quickly if active in there. Some choices for ceramics paining also available. If you are planning a trip.to the fredricksburg area, this is a nice option. We enjoyed the jacuzzi for soaking in and drove to the Shenandoah national park, though it was too hot to hike. The heat index was 106. But you can drive up the whole thing.
The beach is covered in goose poop. The staff working there is suppose to clean it everyday. This does not happen. I took my family there last week and asked the employee working to please clean up the goose poop. At that point he had already been on the clock for two hours and not even started cleaning it up. He was polite but wasn't really moving efficiently. I asked him to at least clean up the poop where my kids were playing. He did clean up that very small section and then went back into the boat rental cabin. He didn't bother cleaning up the poop from the rest of the beach or sidewalks. We experienced biting flies on the beach that day. That's the first time in the four years of going there we've experienced that. I'm sure the flies are there now because of the goose poop that just sits on the sand day in and day out. It smells so incredibly bad too. I've call and spoke in person to management about this issue. Everyone I've spoken to assures me it will be resolved and it has yet to be. I've also been advised to ask the employee working to clean it up as a solution to the problem. I don't think that's an inappropriate solution. Wilderness Presidential Resort please hold your employees accountable for the job they're paid to do. I will gladly change my review once I've seen change. All of your paying guest/ members deserve to play at the beach. Especially the type of beach you advertise. I brought my kids to the beach the day promotional photos were taken of the beach last year. That was the cleanest I've ever seen the beach. You should be giving paying guest and paying members the same experience you advertise. It seems shady you cleaned it up for photos but not for the day to day guests.
I can't comment on the rooms because I towed my own trailer, but the site was nice. The security guard had a hard time finding my reservation on his list & I suggested that he call someone. Once he did that, he had finally found it as the help arrived. Nobody escorted me to my site and I almost passed it as it was quite dark...they really should have an escort available for after hours check in.
We stayed for two days in a Redbud cabin, and we quite enjoyed it! Mostly quiet, very kid-friendly, and polite and helpful staff (major props to Security and Maintenance in particular). I'd love to come here again!
The electrical system for the rv sites are in a much needed upgrade. There are no street lights on the main rd ways. We pay a lot of dues and the only concern the company has is upkeep of the cottages, log homes and recreation areas. There’s only a 30 amp hook up. It’s time for an upgrade.
We were bummed out to book there for a week and it was well over 80 degrees but the outside pools were closed after labor day. We are not sure what amenities we had to pay for because I had my own wifi due to there's kept cutting out and everything in the park was closed . Very disappointed. We left a day early

Nice little place to stop by to learn more about the many historic places Spotsylvania has to offer! I had a wonderful visit and the lady there was very helpful. They also have a good selection of brochures all around but specifically north of Spotsylvania! 😀
ROOTS. Since so many of your citizens claim to LOVE history so much, but wait, where did you ‘hide the artifacts’? Since apparently museums and archaeologists should just put everything back where they found it and leave everything to the elements? Or did those suggestions only apply to slave auction blocks on curbs in retail settings? Doesn’t reflect well. Just sayin.

It's a small museum but we'll worth stopping at. The gentleman that was working there was pleasant, helpful and extremely knowledgeable. Do yourself a favor and stop by and while you're there, take the time to read as many of the write ups as time allows.
Staff is great and always excited to discuss local history. They have a scavenger hunt for the kids, and a trail that runs behind it. Be sure to grab a free book from the Lending Library when you visit! (Sponsored by Weecycled Wardrobe and Macaroni Kid Fredericksburg)
Amazing tour! Although they're moving, there was plenty to see. Their information assistant was very sweet and provided so much good info and lead us to another tour nearby. Highly recommend everyone to check this place out.
Small ut very informative museum. Free but recommend donations. Well worth the stop. Walking trail is available.
Was absolutely incredible the ladies were so informative about everything and so kind, can't wait for Fall when we can walk was way too Hot 🌲
We were looking for a nice fall wooded hike, however this one is all flat and out in the open. I had heard it was surrounded by a cornfield, but unfortunately it had already been cut down.
Used to like walking my dog here but they removed all the trash cans so less people pick up the poop.

This place is just awesome. I’ve gone here several times and just in awe. The amount of work it too to have the tombstones centered like Arlington cemetery is truly amazing. I get chills every time we come here. It’s truly an amazing cemetery and makes you think a lot of what life was like 150 years ago. Seems like a long time ago but in all actuality, it was not. Lots of history here. Truly an amazing place and I highly recommend. Having people buried by state is just awesome. What a great place!
This cemetery is taken care of very well. We have visited this cemetery on two different occasions, and there are historical placards describing who is buried within the hallowed ground. We returned again to the cemetery in 2025 so that we could document the history and information about the cemetery as part of Our Haunted Travels.
Well maintained Cemetary with Confederate Soldiers graves and active present day cemetery. Large center momument the the Confederate fallen. Multiple signs which are very informative. Highly recommended for the study of the Civil War.
Beautiful cemetery, very well kept.
Beautiful cemetery a hidden treasure. Visit on Memorial Day to view the flag decorations.
"We have gathered the sacred dust of warriors tried and true, who bore the flag of our nation's trust, and fell in the cause 'tho lost, still just, and died for me and you."
Peaceful and secret place to spend time and reflect. Very well maintained currently

I love the Farmers Market so. freaking. much! This Farmers Market is so well organized and run that it makes it a great experience for the customers. Everyone is polite and welcoming. The prices are great and the layout is easy to navigate. The location is very convenient along Plank Road. Parking is plentiful and easy to navigate. There is a huge variety of items there from fresh honey to fresh bags of locally curated coffee. The biggest problem is that I always buy more than I intend to. I love investing in the local growers and vendors that are there and the product seems so much healthier than store bought brands in every category.
They had Rhubarb, which I haven't seen in any of the stores, including Wegmans. I would recommend going through the entire market before purchasing anything because prices and freshness vary quite a bit from booth to booth. I did this with my plants, but bought the rhubarb first and I'm glad I did, because when I went back to the same booth after we were almost finished with the whole market, the box rhubarb was gone. It was $7.00 a lb. I overspend on a small stuffed cookie for $5.00, but that was my own fault for buying before looking at everything. They had a huge variety of eggs, fresh produce, and plants. The eggs sold out quickly, so get those first of you want them. Its open from 8am-1pm on Saturdays, but it was winding down around noon. Happy hunting.
The vendors at this market had a ton of great things to offer! Our favorites included the pickles from pickle factory, gourmet mushrooms and seasonings from North Side Growers, and the fresh mini-doughnuts from O'taste and see doughnuts. The prices were generally slightly higher than other markets in the area, but varied between the different vendors. The main issue I had with this market anf reason for 4 stars was the lack of trash receptacles and restrooms for costumers and vendors alike. Plenty of parking, easy to get in and out, just way too many people and products around for there not to be anywhere to throw away trash!
What can I say, I love the Spotsylvania Farmers Market. I get my seedlings and plants from Roberto's Produce and they grow beautifully. I was eyeballing the microgreens, but the smell of Pupusas from the food truck captivated me. They were really good. If you happen to be able to make it out on a Saturday, they open at 8am. There's so much more to see and do there, come with time so you can catch em all.
I absolutely love the vendor Kahmas Kitchen LLC; her customer service is outstanding, and her pound cake, iced coffee, seasonings, and fresh donuts are superb. The chicken and cooked vegetables this vendor is now serving are delicious, too. The market is one of my favorite places to get fresh vegetables and fruit, but I need to address a concerning issue. However, this past Saturday, I was alarmed by the significant number of dogs in the market. Not all of them appeared to be emotional support animals; many were clearly being trained in a public space. It is completely unacceptable for dogs to be urinating near food. This practice is unhygienic and raises the question: is the market turning into a dog park? We need to prioritize cleanliness and ensure a safe environment for all customers.
We come here almost every weekend in the spring, summer, and fall. Every vender has outstanding local produce, grass-fed beef, baked goods, or prepared food and beverages. The apple vender has a crazy selection of ripe apple and pear varieties, and the kettle corn and fresh-squeezed lemonade stands are mandatory stops.
Farmer's market held each Saturday, at the Gordon Rd. location that has ample parking. Mostly fresh produce for sale, under tents. My first return visit this season, due to my schedule. Two knew vendors in their first season are Camin with X-Quizit single origin coffee from Guatemala. Also met Ashley at the farmer's market, she and her zucchini bread, are there every Saturday.
Produce. Treats. Food. Whatever you need. Sometimes we go just to browse the new booths. We always find something good to pick up.

Jackson’s last battle was fought on this plain ...,his flanking movement around the Union right flank was typical ...and brilliant. These pictures don’t do justice to the landscape...at the time it I believe it was probably more wooded but would defer to more experienced Civil War buffs on this point. Jackson’s attack broke through the brush and woods and took the Union forces totally by surprise and shock. But here it appears that the area has been cleared considerably. Nonetheless an important part of American History ...fought on this ground almost 156 years ago ....
Another crucial part of the American Civil War. General "Stonewall" Jackson's Flank Attack. This is maintained and operated by the National Park Service located off of Highway 3 while traveling west. There are maps and information located underneath the trees and you can look across and see what the Soldiers on the battlefield would have seen that day.
Our group attended an overview of the Battle of Chancellorsville presented by the Park Ranger, visited the museum and various sites. Great afternoon for a two hour professional development visit. Highly recommend.
I always get the most Beautiful Sunrise and Sunset
Take my Huge White German Shepherd FiFi here almost every morning...&, We are usually always By ourselves when we are playing with the ball, or taking in the Beautiful sights.....
Beautiful view, great historical data, easy walking. Road in and out has some deep bumps
So peaceful and quiet now. Tried to imagine what it would have been like to hear those Rebel yells coming from the treeline. Recently learned that my grandmother's great uncle was there in command of the 48th Georgia.
Hard to really rank it when it was closed due to renovations

Aikido of Fredericksburg is a well-balanced dojo. I am in the middle of a 3 month commitment. When signing up there was a useful booklet on what to expect. They have multi level classes, are affordable, and supportive. Appealing for long term training. There is a robust student body, safetly taught teachings, and healthy community values.
Aikido in Fredericksburg is a wonderful dojo to train in. All of the instructors and students are friendly, so new students are always welcomed warmly. It's easy to feel like you have become a part of a large family after you have trained for a while. There are multiple classes every day of the week, so balancing training with my college classes has been pretty easy over the four years I've been training. I would definitely recommend trying out a class if a friendly environment and top notch facility are things you find important in a dojo.
Aikido in Fredericksburg Virginia is an excellent place to study the non-violent martial art of Aikido. There is a wide variety of classes for kids through adults. Classes are offered at multiple locations in the Fredericksburg/Stafford/Caroline County area, so finding an Aikido class that fits your schedule and location is never an issue. As a working parent, I could always find convenient times to participate in classes. The vibe is just plain great - solid instructors, no ego, everyone is very helpful. It's a beautiful martial art offered in an amazing building -- A purpose-built green facility, clean, high-quality mats. This school is a non-profit that has a strong community service orientation. I highly recommend this art and location if you're interested in continuing or starting a martial arts practice that stays with you for a lifetime!
I have trained at Aikido in Fredericksburg for 13 years now and I have seen it grow from a small dojo community to one that is very active in most aspects of the greater community. This dojo is not just about martial arts it's about spreading peace. This dojo has many classes for all ages to attend and is very welcoming to new students and visitors.
Aviv Sensei is an excellent instructor. The atmosphere is friendly and open to new students. I would recommend Aikido in Fredericksburg for anyone who wishes to proactive a nonviolent martial art like Aikido. It is a great way to stay active, reduce stress and have an healthier life.
Aikido in Fredericksburg is one of the premier dojos in the country – the huge mat space (102 tatami mats!), beautiful setting (on 20 acres), and air conditioned training room (thanks, in part, to the largest fan you've ever seen), make it a joy to train here. As nice as the facility is, though, it's the sense of community that Aviv Sensei and Donna have built that makes belonging to Aikido in Fredericksburg such a positive experience. Our membership is very diverse, and everyone is very nice. Whether you're looking for traditional martial arts training, or just a great fitness experience with a caring, supportive group, you should come for a free trial class!
Highly recommended! I have trained in various arts with several instructors and can say this Dojo is world class. Both the facilities and quality of instruction are excellent. Classes are held often and fit any schedule. Kids, adults, seniors, special needs students, and others will all find something here. Great community and art.
I have been with Aikido In Fredericksburg since 2002. It is more than just a martial arts studio. It has a great outreach committee. Parents night out. Collections for the homeless kids. Fresh veggies for the food bank. It is one big family.

Family friendly, farm style winery and brewery. Plenty of tables in both shaded and sunny spots, regular food trucks, live music and even animals for kids to see. The views from the property were breathtaking and parking was not an issue even as the day got busy. Staff were extremely friendly and knowledgeable and a small selection of food was available (aside from the food truck). Many parties brought their own snacks to enjoy. A wonderful place to enjoy your day! 1781 is absolutely a nice break from the hustle and bustle of your daily life.
Very cool atmosphere and super friendly staff. The beer is very good. I’ve mostly enjoyed their ales. I’ve had three different ones in history and liked them all. The Tidewater is the one name I recall and had the most of. Definitely very enjoyable.
Always a good time here. Family friendly (until 8pm-which has always been the case and sign has been clearly marked for as long as we’ve been going.) lots of area for kids to play and enjoy themselves while parents can also enjoy themselves. Staff is always helpful and courteous. Bathrooms are always clean and fully stocked. They serve both beer and wine so something for everyone. They also have several water stations to ensure everyone stays hydrated.
Lovely place! My favorite spot is the koi pond. I didn’t try the wines but the Saison was rather tasty.
My boyfriend and I love this place! We moved to the area a couple months ago and have been checking out all the local wineries and breweries—but we keep coming back here. You just can’t beat the combo of great drinks, food trucks, live music, and farm animals! The vibe is super cute and relaxed, with plenty of seating both indoors and outside. Definitely one of our favorite spots!
You can’t ask for a better atmosphere for family and friends to gather for any occasion. The opportunity to wander around the farm, enjoy a couple cold ones, and simply relax out of the hustle and bustle….is what this place is made for. Employees are incredibly respectful and always eager to help. As patrons, we also should also be respectful of their community as they allow us the opportunity to experience something unique!
Absolutely love 1781 brewing, my husband enjoys the beer. I'm more of the wine person. I love the family friendly area they've set up for families. We take advantage of the 21 and over since my youngest is late 20s. Thank you for trying to make everyone happy.
I can't believe I haven't posted a review before now. I have been a member at this family-friendly brewery for years now. The atmosphere is perfect for enjoying one of their delicious homemade brews outside while listening to a band at their stage. There is even a playground for the kids to mess around on and horses, chickens, and cows to watch while enjoying your beer. I can't say enough good things about Josh, Harry, and Brandon and everything they did through COVID and now to have a wonderful place that brings people together. The Old Towne Tobacconist and Wilderness Run Vinyard make this place have a little something for everyone!

If you’re thinking about joining a gym, let me save you the search: Anytime Fitness in Spotsylvania, VA is the place to be, and Christine is a big reason why. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with genuine warmth, a spotless facility, and an energy that makes you want to crush your fitness goals. Christine goes above and beyond to make every member feel welcome, supported, and motivated. The equipment is clean and well-maintained, the vibe is upbeat but never overwhelming, and you can tell this gym is run with pride and passion. What really sealed the deal for me? My dad recently started personal training with Tammy, and he’s loving every minute of it. He talks nonstop about how encouraging and knowledgeable she is, and he’s seeing real progress. Whether you’re brand new to working out or a seasoned lifter, this gym gives you everything you need and then some. Friendly faces, top-tier cleanliness, and personal attention that makes you feel like family. Don’t wait, sign up, show up, and thank me later.
I’ve been working out at Anytime Fitness for a year now, and I can honestly say it’s one of the best gym experiences I’ve had. The facility is always clean, well-maintained, and fully equipped with everything I need—whether it’s cardio, strength training, or functional workouts. The staff is super friendly and welcoming, and they create a positive and motivating atmosphere from the moment you walk in. Bonus points for the supportive community vibe—everyone here is focused, respectful, and driven. Whether you’re a beginner or a fitness regular, this is a place where you’ll feel right at home. Highly recommend!
This Anytime Fitness is one of the best in the area. They have easy access to enter the gym and provide many different features within. Christine was very helpful on my first visit and would recommend this gym to anyone in the area.
My experience at Anytime Fitness has been great! The employees are always very friendly and the atmosphere is much calmer than other gyms I have attended. I recently met the new owner and she has wonderful plans for the future of the gym. I would recommend to anyone in the area!
Anytime Fitness, Spotsylvania, Virginia is under new management. For me, not much has changed. The machines still work, the facility is well kept, and maintenance issues are handled as fast as possible (parts on order). I cannot speak to pricing because my health insurance covers my membership fees but I am able to say that the process for setting up my account with office staff was a snap. New management is still finding their way around what unique programs to offer the clientele who frequent that particular gym. The demographics cover folks with odd working hours, regular day jobs, and a good number of retirees. Personal trainers are available and can be arranged if you ask at the office. There is a full range of workout options from self-directed all the way up to needing coaching or direction for every exercise (which is especially important if you’re new to physical training). Bottom line: easy to visit, clean facility, plenty of gear, and friendly staff.
Christine is an amazing manager of this location! There was not a question I had that she left unanswered. She was thorough and so inviting and knowledgeable. She takes pride in her facility and is so friendly!
I signed up and got a body scan and personalized workout suggestions from a great, friendly staff(thanks Christine!). I appreciate that they offer as much or as little hand holding as you want during the process of getting started. Very excited to get in and workout with confidence!
While I’m new to this gym, I’m not new to the gym setting, and I must say.. this is the best gym I’ve been to! They are very friendly, make personal connections, and are always willing to help. The gym is clean and well maintained. Highly recommend!
