Incredible free small garden/park at Olds College, lots of plants and flowers, birds, ponds, and paved paths to walk through it all. Quite peaceful, there was no one else here when I visited on a Saturday afternoon. Highly recommended if you are in Olds.
Beautiful, clean, really nice leisurely walk with plenty of places to stop, sit and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.
Worth the stop. A nice little walk lots of animals and a cool little micro brewery to stop at after the walk
The highlight of any visit to Olds. The garden is absolutely stunning.
Beautiful place to enjoy BirdLife!
Let's be clear, this isn't Disney land but it is a nice 20min walk in a quiet setting with interesting plants and trees to look at. Be patient finding the parking lot, the signage isn't that clear but if you turn right in front the main gate to the garden you'll hit the lot.
I was traveling through town and stopped to walk my dogs at the campus since it was a holiday and closed. Didn't expect the gardens and it was a lovely find
This is truly a hidden gem! It is a gorgeous place for a walk, and the grounds are kept in immaculate condition. There are both paved and gravel paths, with lots of little bridges to cross over. Takes 25-30 minutes to walk through it all. Just a beautiful spot to check out!

Great store. Staff and patrons were very friendly. Room in the back to try games. Good selection of games, RPG, TCGs and used books. Prices on games were good too beating many Calgary game stores. This has now become our must stop place whenever passing by. Plus we get off Highway 2 and get to drive a quieter 2A for a while. Wins all around.
Such a gem in a small town! Lots of pre-loved books & games! The drinks were amazing & reasonably priced. Staff was amazing too. Would love to stay next time to play a game or too!
Stopped in on the way through town. Pleased with how cool this little game/book store is. We picked up some novels, game accessories, cards and some pictures for my kid's walls. Will stop in again next time we end up in Olds .
Lots of tabletops to choose from. Staff was pretty knowledgeable and let us know about events they have going on as well as shipping info for online purchases and price comparisons for MTG. Selection for MTG decks was a bit limited but priced well. They also have lattes
Heard about this LGS in olds for a wild so a friend and I decided to pop in from Red Deer. At first glance the store was awesome, atmosphere was very cozy and inviting. The staff were very friendly and inviting. We’ll for sure be back to play commander one of these fine Saturdays.
Awesome little store in Olds with a great selection of books, games and good coffee. Very friendly staff and reasonable prices.
We found this hidden gem with an out-of-town friend - we were in Olds up from Calgary for somewhat random and unimportant reasons, and this lovely store singlehandedly made it a memorable trip. The friendly staff and chill community-focused vibe made it a great place to sit, have some hot drinks, and of course talk (and buy!) games! Confidential to the person working there: Baby Owlbear is very happy in her new home :)
Very friendly and knowledgeable staff, great atmosphere and inventory. They also host a slew of community leagues and tournaments. Always a pleasure to stop in.

Beautiful course. My son played the MJT tournament there. Beautiful flowers. There are plenty of nice bathrooms at every other hole. Their pro shop is well stocked. Staff is very friendly. There is a driving range as well as a putting green. The food is reasonably priced and very good. I believe it is affordable to play here as well. Highly recommend if you're ever in Olds Alberta.
Worth the drive! after reading all the reviews, my wife and I decided to try out the course for herself. A little bit of a hike from Calgary but well worth the drive! What a wonderful laid out golf course the greens and the fairways were exceptional. The pace of play was great. The staff were both friendly and professional. We will definitely come again Thank you Old Golf Course for being wonderful host.
We were pleasantly surprised at how well-maintained the Olds Golf Course is! ⛳️ Our two partners from Olds were incredibly friendly and welcoming. Special shoutout to Robbie, who truly embodied small-town charm and hospitality❤️. We will definitely be playing here again in the future! 🏌️‍♂️
Price was right. Pace of play was fast for a Sunday. ,(4 1/4 hours for 18) Course was in great shape. Only complaint is the cart service needs to start earlier on the weekends. Worth the drive from Calgary
Fantastic golf course with a real grass driving range , good quality range balls for practice. A nice little par three pitch n putt a very nice practice facility. Some of the best greens around the grounds crew does an awesome job. The beer is extra cold and the steak was cooked perfectly.👌
Andrew at the pro shop was amazing. Great service! He definitely deserves a raise. The course was very well maintained.
Course was getting dry. Had fun pretty wide open course greens were in good shape.
Course was beautiful. It's taken care of very well. But both the staff and members were pretentious and dismissive.

Mason and I decided on the Botanical Gardens and the Alumni Centre both on the Olds College campus. What an amazing experience! We are so happy we decided to use them to host our wedding. From start to finish, Juanita was there to help us through the planning process and take care of all our wishes. The ceremony was great, weather was stunning, pictures were beautiful, and reception was one heck of a time. Couldn’t be happier with how everything turned out and highly recommend them to anyone looking at a wedding here. Thanks so much for everything!
This review is more on the conference centre they rent out. The accommodation was wonderful, very clean and comfortable. The conference centre was well suited to hold an impactful youth conference
If you’re international student. It’s not right place for you. There’s discrimination with international students. At end of semesters some instructors gonna plagiarist whole class or majority of students for no reason. Same thing will be happen again and again by same instructors at the end of each semester. Just to boom their business and you will be stuck. On time Graduation will be miracle. Because last week of your last semester you will know that you're fail in a subject by a particular instructor then you need to wait 4-8 months to complete your program. Be aware
Great educational environment. The staff is knowledgeable and the learning is top notch. Loads of new construction and renovation to the buildings .
Awesome college and knowledgeable instructors.. no racism and no discrimination. There are no difference between international students and domestic. all students are equal for every instructors. Best college ever in my life. I’m from India and far from family but all the instructors are very helpful and listen the problems and try to solve the problems specifically Brendan Richardson is best best best instructor. He is really very awesome teacher. I miss my college days and one thing library is very nice my favourite place.
A comprehensive review of the college from a second year turf student, finishing up the on-campus first term. THE GOOD: The instructors in my program are saints. Every instructor I have learned from has been so helpful, knowledgeable, and genuinely interested in developing my skills and knowledge base. After attending another post-secondary institution for two years prior to attending this school, I can say with confidence that the instructors in this program are among the highest quality I have interacted with. I've heard the same from students in other programs. The education is great. Not perfect, though. From my experience, the effort you put into your education determines what you take away. Some students in this program can coast, learn nothing, and pass with a good grade. Other students in this program can put a good effort into their studies, learn a bunch, and also receive a good grade. The class work is almost entirely in groups, so you may choose to let your group pick up your slack or become an effective team member. You'll still pass either way. The subjects covered are fairly comprehensive, and I think the program lays a good foundation for future learning. I believe that the education is not for everyone, it all comes down to your attitude towards your studies. The connections to industry in my program are great. For being one of just two or three turf schools in Canada, it can be expected, but I believe that I've gotten a decent amount of industry interaction. Social life is great. I'm not much of a social person, but there are plenty of opportunities to mingle with your classmates and get drunk. The gym nearby is good. A couple squat racks, a bench, several platforms, plenty of dumbbells and a machine, as well as an indoor track. Everything you need. Olds itself is a nice town. It has everything you need, and it's quiet enough for my liking. You're in the middle of Alberta, so the mountains, Edmonton, and Calgary are just a short drive away. THE BAD: Admin stinks. I haven't had many bad experiences with them myself, but I've heard so many stories from other students. I'm sure there are some stories in other reviews. The food is awful. You pay $650/month for slop. I've been waiting months to get home and start cooking for myself. All the meat is dry and everything is unseasoned. I remember staring at my plate of dry unseasoned chicken with a side of white rice and wondering "why in the world am I here." There's a top-notch sushi place just a couple minute's walk away from the cafeteria if you ever find yourself in that situation. I'd say that the only redeeming qualities of the cafeteria are the once a month pulled pork sandwiches, the dessert, the grill (which gets old really fast), and the student kitchen. Centennial Village. It's a gamble. The rooms don't have AC, so bring a fan if you find yourself living on the top floors. It's a sauna, even in the winter. Some might enjoy the social aspect of CV, but not myself. Hallway parties were pretty common, and since quiet hours are not enforced, you can expect them to last pretty far into the night. If you're a fan of blasting music in your room at 3 AM, or doing 40 yard drunk-dashes down the hallway just past midnight, you'll love it here because no one will stop you. Don't like where your room is because someone else is making your existence miserable? Tough one, you'll have to fork out some money to change your room. The only redeeming quality of CV is the student boardrooms, they're great places to gather with your classmates, hang out, and have some drinks. "The bad" is colossal enough to warrant a three star review from me. I considered a two-star review, but I think the only saving grace of my review is the turf program itself. I would have dropped this college if I wasn't confident in the program and my future in this industry. If you made it this far, thanks for reading my rambling. I hope my review helped.
My son had an amazing experience taking the Heavy Equipment Operator Certificate. He found the instructors to be so helpful and very knowledgeable of the industry. They provided real life projects and hours of seat time to perfect techniques. He was able to get a job straight out of the course with one of the industry partners. He is very happy with his instruction and connection to industry needs. Thanks to the great instructional team and management.
I graduated from the equine science program in 2016 and haven’t. found. a. job. since. I think it’s a good idea, but the way the equine industry is, it just doesn’t work out well for many graduates. I don’t recommend wasting your time and money on that program. Also, the amount of chores and tasks, aka, “slave labour” that they slap on you is ridiculous. The farm equipment isn’t safe, some of the school horses are dangerous, and so on. I also took the Jockey Program and that was even worse! Those instructors are abusive and don’t care about you at all. They just want the money. They send you into dangerous situations and wipe their hands clean when you start your practicum. Their success rate of graduates in the program is proof that this program is useless and also puts students lives at risk for the minuscule amount that they “teach” and how little they are willing to help you become successful as a jockey/exercise rider. Highly recommend you stay far away from anything equine at this institution.

We stopped at the Yak bar last nite for their new Thursday Wing Night and enjoyed every bite! Best wings I’ve ever had! Only $9 for 10 wings! Great 👍 idea! Thanks to the owner and staff as well as the chefs in the Blue Grill 👍
Great atmosphere and staff . Priced reasonable and variety of belts
Super dark and depressing place. They make their money from sucking the blood out of the VLT addicts. If you're not a regular, you can't run a tab. No seats at the bar to socialize with locals.
I was playing vlts and didn't get a five minute warning or nothing and they were telling me it's time to leave. Also the last 20 min I was there the waitress was doing her nightly clean up right beside me and around me . I thought it was very annoying and having managed a bar for 3 years I know that your not supposed to put up chairs and stuff until your customers have left. Yeah go do some of your stuff in the back but not around your only customer. Oh and by the way I only had 2 drinks the whole night so I'm definitely not intoxicated. Not very good customer service. It was a woman who was my waitress. And when other customers were looking for drinks 5 min had gone by before they found someone and they only had me and 4 other people in the whole place and there was 2 people working. Like come on gimme a break . Someone needs to step up there game. And fire those 2
Visit the Yak on Saturday nights if you are young and want to party and dance! Saturday night is the busy night!🎉
Just depends what kind d of person you are...and how stuck up a person is. Downstairs is the best bar in town and upstairs are rooms to rent so there is no drinking and driving when it's closing time, go sleep it off haha
The staff was nice, the bartenders made sure to let everyone know happy hour was almost over, and they had tons of VLT's.
Ahhhh the Blue Yak, I've lost my memory more than once in my favorite watering hole. And Twix does tricks while making drinks of you ask nice.

Prices on drinks is good. And the bar staff is amazing. Best place to drink while going to Olds college
They let you sit down and choose where you want to sit, then ignore you for minutes on end. The only place you'll actively get served is if you're one of the ones sitting at the bar flirting with them. Frustrating, the food is good but when I sit down and am left to sit for half hour with a menu, you'd expect someone to ask if you're ordering anything more than a beer... Which isn't listed on the menu by the way From this, to getting beer orders wrong, or just the beer being warm or not carbonated which has been an issue, it makes it extremely frustrating that its at the center of the College.
You always feel welcome and the food is amazing
Very nice waitreses in there make you feel like you belong there pool tables are awsome have the odd problem now and then. There food is amazing comes out fairly quick
Great food. Love the selection of local breweries on tap. Had a new one from out in ponoka and it was very good
Waited for 30 mins after paying and people got their food before us when they ordered after.
Awesome for a quick bite and beer. Cheap and delicious. Just what you want at a college bar
The staff, food and atmosphere is awesome! Very comfortable place to be with the best prices in town :)

The young lady working the counter was very knowledgeable on the student series beers, so I bought all of them to try. Not one of them was bad. All enjoyable beers. Every time I'm in Olds I try to support them with a purchase. Some of the beers were bold and I like bold beers, no risk no reward. Good work brewers!
Tasted 4 beers at beerfest.. they all were out standing, and would like to know where we can get these beer products.. had a great chat with the boys .. as an owner of a distillery , I love to support local .. great job on teaching the new brewer the trade .. wish them all the success in the world .
We went to olds beer festival.. it could had more breweries doing tasting … it was a big space … it was $1.00 for tasting tickets and breweries wanted two tickets.. the lady that was at the olds brewery booth was very negative about the brewery program and the collage …
Honestly thought I reviewed back in July when I first got in but I guess not. Finally after many years of driving by, because they have very limited hours as a teaching brewery, I finally made it twice this year. Definitely worth the stop. Excellent cores and almost always one or two student projects on tap. Very friendly and you might get lucky and have the chance to chat with a student on the patio. The only downside is no indoor seating so you can only quaff there less than half the year. However you can take home cans or have a fancy growler fill with their purge system. Worth the small detour off hwy2!
Holy, katana is lovely and I’m totally not a beer girl. So light. Just yummers. I’d add another star, but I can’t!!!! Cheers for this beer!!
In Olds for a short time during vacation. Was told about the College and the great little brewery and that it was open for people to stop by. Went in and had a delightful time with the lady in the retail store. She offered us samples and we tried everything on tap from a nice wheat beer all the way to a delicious brown ale. I think the Prairie Gold IPA was my favourite, but there were several delicious brews among them. The raspberry and the pomegranate beers were trendy and interesting but not really my style. The amber and brown ales were fantastic and we bought a few to take with us. Great experience that made me wish I could have taken a program like this in college all those years ago! There is merchandise for sale as well as the beer, which is available by six pack or in a growler. Stop by, learn a little, and leave a little happier!
Was lovely to visit my alma mater! The brewery is new. Quite a varied selection of craft beer. All very cutely/cheekily named and branded. Love the student submissions. The girl who served us was new and and absolute delight. She mentioned she was a children’s entertainer in the past. She is well suited to her post. Cute merch available as well. Thank you Olds Brewery!!
Went in and was offered a few samples, tried everything on tap at the time and loved the Hay City beer. The prices here are awesome, once you buy a growler you can pay up to $13 for a refill for 6 cans worth. The lady who served me was really nice and informative, she knew her stuff. They have a big selection of cans and bottles in the fridge, as well as a wall full of memorabilia and clothing, good for gifts and showing your support for local education. If I had one suggestion or request, it’d be nice to be able to sit down and have a drink, however, there selections are served next door and across town I believe, so it’s no big deal.
