A Must-Visit for Mayan History Lovers! Visiting the Maya Museum in Chetumal was an unforgettable experience! The museum offers a fascinating journey through Mayan history, culture, and archaeology. The exhibits are well-curated, with detailed information and impressive artifacts that showcase the brilliance of the ancient Maya civilization. I especially loved how the museum presents both the grandeur of the past and the continued influence of Mayan culture today. The layout is easy to navigate, and the staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Whether you're a history enthusiast or just curious about the region’s rich heritage, this museum is a must-see. Highly recommend it to anyone visiting Chetumal!
Very interesting museum! I think they can add a bit more information in general. Feels like they only scratch the surface. Lighting is a bit of a problem and it is really hot and humid inside.
The museum is wonderfully arranged, although the exhibits need more modern methods of presenting information. Don't miss it. It will take you 40-50 minutes to see it. The museum is located in a complex with several galleries and a bookstore. The exhibits are of contemporary Mexican artists. There is a small but very useful hall with brief information about the nearby Mayan sites that you can visit.
Excellent visit to learn more about Mayan History. The museum was easy to locate and the staff very friendly.
It can be seen that it was once an interactive museum, but now it is abandoned, many interactive functions do not work. Tickets for foreigners - 110 pesos.
This is a must visit Museum if you're visiting Chetumal. If you're visiting the City you should visit this Museum to learn more about the Mayan culture. The entrance is 100 pesos for foreigners and 50 pesos for locals. Something you should do which is completely optional is to look for a guide to give you a tour around the museum. The tour around the museum takes about 1 hour but it is absolutely worth it
This is a fabulous and really well designed museum. My preschoolers really had a blast! We also enjoyed the garden and various galleries in the courtyard. Great for families, and really informative and fun!
I’m not a museum expert but I really enjoyed my time here. Very interesting and the dim lighting creates a mysterious atmosphere. Most of the exhibits are reproductions but it was all very nicely presented. There is also an outdoor area featuring a recreation of a jungle village as well as side galleries with modern art.

Terrific place for fine dining along the strip, beautiful views of the bay, and plenty of people watching. After 6pm the place really comes alive, with dozens of street vendors in addition to the restaurants and clubs. Highly recommend. Machacado is a frozen treat pictured here, Mango. Very good.
Great place! I absolutely loved this café while i was walking at the Malecón de Chetumal. It was not know some of the best cookies ive ever had they had a great selection of drinks. I am willing to just return to Chetumal for this one Café.
Nice view... Not impresive but some points have a great landscape for pictures.
It's a nice walk along the coast, nothing special compared to others. Afternoon / Nights stalls for food.
I love Chetumal. So much things to do with the family. The Bay Area is a bit more pricey than center of town, however, it has less traffic and there are lots of great restaurants in that area where you can relax. Always feel safe, it's clean, you get tons of food for the price. Great shopping areas.
Visited on a Wednesday afternoon in September, after a trip to Bacalar. The weather was excellent for the walk and the sea breeze was refreshing. It started to get busier in the evening for sunset but unfortunately I had to return to Tulum.
Very nice and quiet place despite being located very centrally. It is located on a peninsula, you can easily follow the coast from there to the beach. Great opportunity to see lots of different birds, and of course the sea itself and several murals an monuments remembering Mayan history as well as Mexican revolution history. We also found a shoe-shop nearby with Mexican made shoes and sandals at very reasonable prices (see pictures), the shoes were ideal to climb the pyramids in Becán, Xpujil and Calakmul.
A nice quiet park with historical monuments, a high water mark from Hurricane Janet, and a gazebo next to the Governor's Mansion by day. At night it is a hub of activity for families to gather for food, and relaxation on the bay.Rides, games and toys for the kids. Very busy on the weekends.

Guided tour. They warn you about $10 fee for taking videos, but we were allowed to snap cell phone photos OK. Great ongoing archaeological site with good interpretive signs. We went with a tour guide who was entertaining and well informed. Wonderful afternoon if you like this sort of thing. Read up on Wikipedia to get context.
It takes a few hours on a bus to get to the ruins. The ruins are in a very small area, but for us, it is still worth viewing. There are only a handful of building ruins. But they are expanding the area. The guide was knowledgeable on the history of the area. Then you have a few hours bus ride back to port.
Had a great experience that allowed us to climb the ruins and discover the history behind these with our tour guide
Absolutely a hidden gem - the road to get here is full of potholes so will take you longer than the sat nav suggests, but well worth it. Lots to see and a very big site including a pyramid with preserved red paint and face carvings. Entry fee was $100 pesos and toilets were open, although no other facilities. It was very quiet when we visited on a Sunday, with only a few other people seen on the whole trip.
Absolute disappointing since the masks (highlight of the site) have been put into some boxes with some mosqito net. This means that the visibilty is extremely reduced. According to our guide to protect the masks. It is not allowed to bring food into the site and the restrooms are disgusting.
A beautiful place to visit. You get to stroll through the ruins. You are allowed to climb them if you wish. We were able to walk and see all the ruins on site in about an hour and a half. I recommend you being drinks and maybe even a picnic. There isn’t a place to buy food or drinks in the area. There’s a lot of grassy shady spots perfect to enjoy your food and drinks. Unfortunately we weren’t offered a tour I wish they would’ve to get more insight.
What a wonderful experience. Our tour guide German provided so much interesting information about the complex, the history behind it; the flora and fauna as well as wild animals in the rainforest there. I have been to many ruins in Mexico and this tour tops them all. What a memorable and wonderful experience. Highly highly recommended.
Amazing site! You have to drive for about 5km from the main road to get there. Easy to do if you have your own car. The road has quite a lot of potholes so you need to go quite slowly. Once there the site was pretty much deserted and it’s huge!

If you like the outdoors it is a great placr to pass somr time with your kids or family...apply mosquito repelent and expect it to be hot..snacks and beverages available on site...
The trip here was fantastic! The zoo is spacious, and there are lots of animals. However, parts of the zoo seem to be abandoned and dilapidated.
I see that there is a lot of work happening. It was a nice walk around the zoo even if I think 50% of it was roped off due to work. I saw train tracks, yet no train. My feeling is that the lion's habitat is too small, and he, like other animals, there could do with mates or friends.
Smaller but very nice. Staff was polite, flora beautiful, nice peaceful walk. A few area not open or need repair, but overall it was a very enjoyable few hours spent. I would recommend it to friends.
Loved it here! We started off with the farm animals then worked our way towards toucans, parrots, emus, ostrich, hippo, camel. We finished off by seeing the spider monkeys, leopardus, leopard, panther, and tiger! So cool!! There were only 2 butterflies that I seen in the enclosure but lots of local flora! Well worth a visit, but bring your sun hats, cameras, and a drink!
Great for just 20pesos/person! Quite a few different kinds of animals and they looked pretty healthy and active! The Jaguars were so playful! Only complaint is that the tiger enclosure looks very small compared to its size, all the other big cats had huge enclosures. Don’t forget your mosquito repellent, they are relentless.
Nice place to visit. The animals were beautiful. It would be better if they did more upkeep
It's a zoo, so there are always good and bads. I recall more animals coming here when I was smaller is the only issue I had.

Tequila Beach was one of my favorite parts of our cruise! We stopped in Cozumel for our first port. My husband and I, having never been on a cruise before, were totally lost. One of the workers directing taxis recommended Tequila Beach. She said that it wasn’t very well known and so it wouldn’t be very crowded. She was totally right! There were maybe 50 of us on the beach the day we were there. We paid $17 a piece and that included a chair, umbrella, and one free drink. Our waiter (Domingo, I think) was super friendly and helpful! We had an amazing, relaxing day. The beach was beautiful and clean! Would definitely recommend! Also, if you are cruising, it is an $8 taxi ride (per person) each way to and from the cruise port.
Tequila Beach club in Costa Maya was great. I received the best massage ever for a reasonable price, right on the beach, while my kiddos swam in the ocean.
We had a wonderful time here. The Costa Maya drink was my favorite
This was a very good price, with the option of a drink package. My wife got a very good massage for an unheard of price back home, or on the boat for that matter. My only complaint is the constant badgering from folks wanting to sell you stuff. Yes l get it, everyone has to eat but l just think 20 folks all trying to sell you the same things at the same time along with the sales booths is a bit much
Our best excursion by far and also the least expensive! Phenomenal staff and outstanding drinks.
Our waiter, Carlos, was GREAT! Drinks kept coming every 10 minutes.
Bad experience overall. It has a smelly concrete dock right in the middle of the beach. Poor service and way overpriced cocktails (even more expensive than our cruise ship). Our waiter heckled us for tips. Not all inclusive at all. The taxi drivers get commission for bringing tourists here so watch out.
Very relaxing, free drinks, beautiful beach and water, and plenty of open seating. The only drawback is people waking you up to sell you something occasionally

It’s a great place. It’s got a good atmosphere. Great for a peasant from the country to see
Nice mall with multi shops
Decent enough items to choose from. I told my local friend about being followed the entire time I shopped and I didn’t understand why. He said if they think you’re from Belize you’ll be followed around the store out of concern you will steal something. 🤣And for a “high end” store you are not offered one of the nice bags. (Well I wasn’t for some reason 🧐). The $250 USD worth of items you just purchased will be crammed into a brown lunch bag. 😂(Again out of concern you will use a large bag to steal). After repeatedly asking for a paper bag and being told they didn’t have any, I finally got one….had to pay 10 pesos for it. 🤣🤣🤣 That’s fine as plenty of stores charge for bags. But lying and saying you don’t have shopping bags at all is quite ridiculous especially for a “high end” store. Just install cameras and allow your honest, paying customers to shop in peace. (And give them shopping bags when they’re done). 😂
For those needing a name brand to define them it is perfect. Prices are easily 2 to 3 times what you will find anywhere else, but it is clean. Finding service has been an issue when I need it, but the beer selection is good and they clerk in that part does a good job.
Great place to do shopping
They have exactly what I need every time I go, sometimes it takes a little while to find it, but the selection of luxury items is unparalleled in Chetumal.
This mall is similar to the Plaza America in Houston. It was a nice clean mall. It rained that day and the mall being indoors made it even more pleasant.
Good service, a bit on the expensive side but good quality
