What a place, this must be one of the best original urban squares ever. A photo taken a 100 years ago would probably look very much the same. Siena is such a beautiful town, if you are in Tuscany go and see for yourself. Love it.

We had a great day in Siena; you need a few hours walking through the alleys to see how beautiful the city is. Weekdays are definitely quieter than weekends. If you plan to visit Siena, try to do it between Monday and Thursday.

A bit crowded with a lot of people sitting around and some people would sell you stuffs. Not the safest place you can sit back and relax. It was fairly safe and lovely place to visit.

A splendid cathedral, richly decorated inside. We hadn't bought tickets online, but lined up outside to buy tickets. The view of the cathedral from the square outside is fantastic. But what set it apart for us was the inside. The floors are covered in inlaid marble (I believe some of it is usually covered, but it wasn't when we were there), and there are many other fantastic pieces of art. Don't miss the small library to the side, also fantastic. Afterwards we spent some time in the gift shop - it is pretty good.

A beautiful cathedral with beautiful artwork. It was reasonably old and had a bit of history to it as well. Tickets to see the cathedral was roughly 5 euros, but even the most expensive ticket to the museum, cathedral, and baptistry was the price of admission of a church in Florence, and was definitely reasonably priced. The biggest thing is that if you come from the town square, you will see the baptistry first, which is NOT where the ticket office or the cathedral is, and you need to climb either the stairs or get to the cathedral's square. Overall, was definitely worth seeing and was worth the day trip I took from Florence to see it.

The entrance fee is €8 per person, but it's well worth it. The interior of this cathedral is something unimaginable.

Really just to say that I agree with the great majority of reviewers: Siena Cathedral is absolutely worth visiting. It looks great from the outside, perched on its hill, but the interior is even more impressive, with black and white stripes throughout. The ticket queue was quite long, so if you know ahead of time when you will be going it would make sense to book ahead.

We didn't really see much of the area. We stayed overnight at a hotel inside the walls and ate at Caffetteria Gelateria dell'Olmo. The restaurant was not good. Our hotel, Hotel Leon Bianco, was very nice and had a wonderful breakfast. We had a heck of a time navigating the streets.

San Gimignano is the reason we came back to Tuscany after visiting it last yearfor a few hours, while driving through Tuscany. Beautiful walled medieval town, that was originally restored in 1800s, and probably the biggest attraction in Tuscany. The towers were a sign of wealth, and the taller the tower, the wealthier the family that owned them. They were originally built as protection against marauding neighboring townspeople, street scuffs, etc. these towers were connected to the residences of the owners. You can climb the tallest tower in town, for 7 Euros.

San Gimignano is a true gem of Tuscany and a must-visit destination for every traveler. This picturesque town is famous for its well-preserved medieval towers that create an iconic skyline. Walking through its stone streets feels like stepping back in time. History comes alive at every corner, and the atmosphere is utterly enchanting. San Gimignano is a small medieval hills town in Tuscany, encircled by 13th-century walls and full of beauty and life. Medieval festivals are happening from time to time and, if you're lucky to be here during such an event, you'll feel the history and understand Italian culture and life better. Like a reduced-scale Sienna, San Gimignano is one of my favorites luttle old towns in Italy.

Stunning ruins of a very important abbey situated in a gorgeous landscape. A silent experience that combines nature and architecture to really create a spiritual experience even if you aren’t very religious. The ruins tower over you so that you can really feel the size of this once glorious community.

Open air 13th Century Abbey just outside of Siena. If this is something you’re into and enjoy – very much worth a visit. Looks spectacular from the outside and magical from the inside. Certainly unique. If you are not into architecture, historical buildings or church history, this is probably not for you. There is little explanation of the place once you’re there, so you need to ideally already be a fan or interested. Also visit the Chapel on the hill whilst you're in the area

There was an art exhibit when we were there which were really great to take photos. We had leave early because of a funeral.

Speechless spiritual place, knowing this place from Andrei Tarkovsky’s ‘Nostalgia’, as a metaphor of the protagonist’s memory and religious experience. No photos or documentaries can compare to being here personally, even if it might be an arduous trip for visitors without a car…

Charming public square in Montepulciano -- go up into the tower of the Palazzo Comunale for one of the best views of the Valdichiana

Piazza Grande in Montepulciano may be small, but it’s truly a Tuscan gem. It offers a stunning view of the historic town hall, surrounded by charming Renaissance buildings, and from the square, you can wander into the quaint, atmospheric streets typical of this beautiful region. A must-visit for lovers of history, architecture, and wine alike — Montepulciano will surely capture your heart.

Montepulciano is a medieval hilltop town in Tuscany, Italy. Surrounded by vineyards, it’s known for its vino nobile red wine. The Torre di Pulcinella is a clock tower topped by a figure of the Pulcinella, a commedia dell’arte character. On the Piazza Grande is the 14th-century Palazzo Comunale, with a tower offering views of the surrounding countryside. Also here is the Duomo, with a huge triptych above its altar.

Montepulciano’s Piazza Grande is a solid mix of history, Renaissance architecture, and tourists trying to find the perfect selfie angle. The main attraction? Aside from the impressive Palazzo Comunale and the cathedral, it’s the town’s famous Vino Nobile di Montepulciano - a red wine 🍷so well regarded that even popes were fans. It was also the filmed location for the Vampire series - Twilight. 🧛 Climb the town hall tower for a great view (if you don’t mind the steps), or just grab a glass of Vino Nobile and enjoy the square from ground level. Either way, it’s worth the visit, just be ready for some uphill walking.

I think it'd be a shame to come to Monteriggioni and not climb on the walkway of the old walls. I believe we paid Euro 6 or 7 each, and that gave us access to the small but well-documented museum (it has a lot of the history of the place as well the reconstruction of some of the structures and the armors). If I remember well it has write ups both in English and Italian. Plus, you get to walk on the 2 sections of walkways. Some of the low-score reviews for the walls point to the fact that one walkway was closed, but even if only one was accessible it would have been worth it to me. The views of the countryside and of the town, the atmosphere, the architectural details of the walls....beautiful.

Lovely quiet town atop a small hill. Beautiful scenery with rolling hills around. Highly recommend the checking out the small museum as it comes with the fee to walk the walls. Just enough information to feel like you learned a bit without miles of text. Gelato always hits the spot. Paid and free parking just below the hill, reasonably priced at 2 euro for 90 minutes or so. A must see town!

Scam! You have to be lucky to visit the top of the wall. Mostly on Monday (whole day) and Friday (in the morning) IN THEORY. We went there on a Friday at 11am and it was already closed. There are many more beautiful places with even better view in the toscana area than Monteriggioni.

Gorgeous town! Want to come back and stay longer

This cute little village stole my heart. With an around 500 meters long wall around it it’s probably the smallest village I’ve ever seen. But we found everything we were looking for there. The scenery around the village is absolutely beautiful! You can climb up the wall and have a great view around. When we were there there was a little market with handmade things were we found a beautiful ring - which I am wearing everyday since today (at least for 3 years now). I absolutely recommend to stop here for a while!

Beautiful thermal baths with relaxing pools, perfect water temperature, and a peaceful atmosphere surrounded by nature. Staff are very friendly and everything is well organized. The only drawback was the showers — they switch off every 30 seconds and the cabins are a bit small. Still, a wonderful place to relax and I’d be happy to return! 🌿✨

Used the day spa services. I have been three times this year since we live fairly close. The spa offers different pools and lovely grounds with different types of chairs and umbrella options to relax. The half day pass is a bargain at 15 euros. Be sure to bring your own flip flops or water sandals and robe or towel. no street shoes allowed outside of locker rooms. Daily use includes free lockers showers blow dryers etc. I have booked various massages and massage staff are all very professional. Front desk staff helpful and some can speak English. Easy selection of fresh salads in casual lunch restaurant. Reasonably priced. Overall a good way to spend the day in Tuscany.

This place is definitely worth visiting. The mineral pools are so great for your health. Everything was positive. The reception was welcoming and friendly, the facilities were clean and in good condition. We had a fantastic time and it is so affordable. The 15 euro morning pass was more than enough time for us and included so many pools and stunning views.

Pretty place, but honestly the worst massage I’ve ever had. I’m not even sure it was a real masseuse or just someone hired. I’ll be booking a proper deep tissue massage when I’m back home. My friend had one too and felt the same way. I would not book a massage here. 3 stars over how terrible the massage was

We went for a girls trip, highly recommend. Facilities where great, staff very friendly and everything in general I would say was high quality. Food and cocktails are very good and the treatment list has fair pricing. Really recommend if you are looking for some relax and peace of mind!

Great place with a beautiful view for a reasonable price. On a cold day, the temperature of the water is comfortable in the covered pool and in the first external pool. The further away you go from the covered pool, the lower the temperature of the water. A bit crowded on weekends.

We did a non-VIP day spa visit on a cloudy day in October (19°C). We arrived around noon, rented robes walked around the facility. The pools and sunbeds were not busy. The water temperature varies from pool to pool so the warm and hot pools were the only ones in use. By mid afternoon the indoor pool (hottest) was crowded. Based on visits to thermal spas in Iceland, Budapest and Canada, the facilities are mid-range but the presence of significant silt on the bottom of the pools was disconcerting. At times it felt like walking through muck, and the water is very milky so you can't see your feet/the bottom of the pool. Also, we weren't informed at the check in desk that you get access to the saunas only with the VIP ticket as they are located on the hotel side. Overall, I wouldn't go out of my way for this spa.

We love the medieval "village" at the heart of the uniquely beautiful city of San Gimignano. The city is well preserved, and it feels like it's frozen in time. One can imagine how these folks with their horses going about their business during those days. The atmosphere in the morning is peaceful and if you enjoy your running, this city has many interesting elevation to add to your training. The cobblestone is another challenge that keeps you vigilant and to train your foot placement. Expect loads of visitors as the day approach to lunch and dinner. Food and drinks (wine & beer) are tops, as the Italians are proud of their traditional culinary and wine culture.

The Piazza della Cisterna is one of the most beautiful and famous squares in San Gimignano, a medieval town .since the 1990s the square — and San Gimignano as a whole — has become quite touristy. During the main travel season, it can feel crowded, with many souvenir shops and large tour groups. Still, early mornings or late evenings often bring back the magic of its medieval charm.

This was actually my favorite piazza in San Gimignano. It's the one with the old cistern, or well. There's always a bunch of people sitting on it as they do on the steps in other public squares. What's unusual is that this square is really in the shape of a triangle. You'll also see the Devil's Tower near the cistern. It has been said that the owner returned to find his tower taller than it was when he left it. Lol! That's kind of spooky. What I loved most about this medieval piazza is the famous gelato shop. It was a historical and tasty experience.

Historical & Beautiful square in the centre of San Gimignano I love medieval city and SG did not disappoint. In fact it is famous for the tower but some of the little square that are in the town are really amazing. Piazza della Cisterna is one of them, here we had a drink and were lucky to be here the day of the market, so bought a few things too. I highly recommend coming here, this city is great and perched so looks really great from the roads below.

The most beautiful piazza in San Gimignano that gets very crowded during the day, but turns into a fairy tale after sunset (if you have accomodation inside the old city, you can enjoy such beauty). It is filled with history, dark stories, but is also nicely kept. And if you want to try "la dolce vita", just buy some Riserva wine in a restaurant nearby, sit and enjoy the view, the changing lights, the music (in summer, there are concerts nearby) and the wine.

San Gimignano is a must-see, incredibly beautiful and medieval. The town surprises you at every turn, and although quite small, it's worth taking your time to enjoy it. The restaurants and cafes offer spectacular views, creating a unique and very romantic atmosphere.

One of the "must try" when in Gimignano, climbing the Torre Grossa will offer the best views over this superb medieval city, but also over the Tuscan fields. It is indeed hard to climb the stairs, especially the few ones at the top, but it is worth it.

Great place to visit when in San Gimignano. We went in when it opened at 10am so it wasn’t busy. They have redone the stairs so it’s quite an easy walk up - if you are tall you will need to duck your head at the end. The views are breathtaking! You then get to descend and walk into a great little museum. Would greatly recommend when visiting San Gimignano.

This city is like a hidden jam of Tuscany. We just looked at the map and randomly decided to come, and you become a cross this amazing museum and the city itself was very beautiful and old however, it wasn’t busy at all not very risky which is nice I would highly recommend to come and check it out if you haven’t.

A great place with a great view of the city. I definitely want to mention the very kind and helpful man at the ticket office. I have poor eyesight and my English isn't very good, but he patiently explained everything! Thank you, this is exactly what helps you develop a wonderful attitude towards the country! The people in Tuscany are incredible!

Great place with beautiful view, you can buy tickets in full city pass. That grant's you access to tower, tower museum and museum next to tower, it all costs only 15 euro

Lovely place. A must see when in San Gimignano! I suggest you get the San Gimignano pass, since it does save you money if you visit more than two attractions

Tallest vantage point of the town. A bunch of stairs inside tower. A little unnerving for those with anxiety.

Everything was perfect, we loved our experience here! My mother and I took the colorino tour. The tour of the vineyard and the winery were really interesting, the guide was very knowledgeable and passionate. Everything we tasted was great. I personally loved the younger red and white wine, while my mother preferred the old red, everything is great and it's just a matter of taste. We both loved the dessert wine and the cantuccini. We would love to come back, spend more time here (we had to leave in a hurry to catch the bus) and share this experience with other loved ones! Thank you for your passion and care!

We visited the winery today and were not too impressed. We didn’t have a reservation and we felt lucky they were able to accommodate us inside for the 15€ wine tasting, not really the case. We got a very rushed description of the wines we could choose from (you can pick 3) without any written description, menu or similar. The wine servings were quite generous and all 3 wines were fairly good (least favorite was the rosé). We didn’t get an appetizer of any kind with the wine. They were preparing the room for an event and we felt quite rushed, whole thing lasted probably around 30 minutes. In summary, maybe it would have been better for them to tell us they could not take us without a reservation.

We got a tour of the winery and learned their process for making wine! The food and wine were AMAZING. This is definitely worth the stop if you are going to Monteriggioni.

Perfect meal from starter to main dish And dessert. I would recommend the reserve wine, pork main dish and cheese cake is just amazing. Must try.

The owner of this cellar are very kind and inclusive. She took the time to talk to the group in Italian and then translated to English, just for my daughter and I. We really appreciated it. On top of that, the Restaurant is quite lovely and picturesque, and the food was exquisite!

Amazing place, worth visiting. Also, visit the Castelnuovo above the abbey and walk the streets. One of the most beautiful places around.

I love the georgian live music. Beautiful place very simple, quite and peaceful.

Historic church. Great 5 mile hike loop. Take coins for parking (2 euros per hour). With Casisano winery along the way. Definitely stop in if they are available for a tasting.

Lovely quiet area and nice olive trees but the whole visit was a disappointment because of the lady in the shop. She was very unpolite and as soon as I stepped inside the small shop she told me the shop will close in 2 minutes. It was 17.54. 🙄 I thought the whole place was open until 18.30. The abbey had a mass so we didn’t enter into it. The smell that came from that small shop was so good so it was a pity that I couldn’t buy anything.

Definitely the most beautiful abbey in Italy! We've come here for at least 20 years. In the beginning there were almost no tourists. Now the way down is paved, paid parking and there even is a shop at the top of the hill..... But still it's the most beautiful abbey of Italy :-) Try to stay for a service when you're here.

Truly beautiful Abbey. The electronic self guide is 7€ but we’ll worth the money. The view from the to of the Abbey is amazing. The shop is lovely too. We’ll worth an hour or two of your time for some valuable peace and tranquillity.

The Abbey, a jewel of medieval mysticism. It is one of the most beautiful monuments in an ancient Roman style, which also has elements of the French and Lombardy styles. Legend has it that the abbey was founded by Charles the Great in 781. The king and his army stopped here on the way back from Rome as the soldiers were afflicted by an unknown pestilence. An angel appeared to Charlemagne, telling him to make his men drink an infusion with a local herb. The cure worked and the army was saved so the king decided to build the church in gratitude.

25 euros for a full day and 21 for half day (until 14). This is the basic thermal pools, nothing fancy - but we super enjoyed ourselves. Cafeteria prices weren’t too high, but it’s better to prepare food/snacks in advance. Really recommend!

Terme Antica Querciolaia has a whopping eight pools! Six of them are outdoor thermal pools, and the other two are indoor pools. These pools are all part of the spa’s lovely park, and they’re filled with natural thermal waters packed with minerals. An absolute treat for your skin, airways and brain. The indoor restaurant offers excellent meals and great Italian coffees.

We visited the hot springs for the day with family and two kids, age 3&5. All of us had a great time, mainly in the outdoor pools. Sun beds are free and lockers are 2 euro deposit. The place was beautiful, and very clean. Had lunch at the cafe, which was great, taste and price wise.

Its huge area includes many differently sized open pools, filled with constantly pouring in hot minerals-rich water. If you’re next to a pipe you get kind of stream massage. While I was wandering in the pools, my wife took a therapeutic mud treatment and later joined me in the pool. The atmosphere is naturally very relaxing. And it is just 40 min drive from Siena.

Took the day pass to the thermal pools. The pools were relaxing and warm. Additional pay was needed to enjoy a sauna for some reason.

Second time I go with family and friends, for a day (no overnight stay). Plenty of space and pools at different tenperatures, 200% chill out :-) they have a great massage service if u have a sore back.

Came here for a day spa experience. The quality for the price is incredible! So many gorgeous outdoor pools and lots of places to sit and relax
