White sand. Blue colors. Beautiful But: expect people trying to sell you things. And: it’s not the Mediterranean Sea. Swimming depends on tides, the wind and your confidence. But I love walking in the early morning. The shells are beautiful. It’s worth to spent some days here
Clean, big, beautiful ,white sand beach approx 50 km away from Mombasa. One can relax, take a walk, rest under shade, have beer & seafood etc.
Diani beach is a really nice place to vacation. So many activities take place here such as camel riding, kite surfing, swimming among others. The ocean is calm throughout the day but the tides get stronger in the evening hours making it not safe for any activities.
One of the best beaches I have visited. Don't miss it if you ever visit the Kenyan coastline
Long and big beach, there is always a place to enjoy the water at low tide. White visitors will be approached by solicitors (boat tours, jewelry) regularly.
What a spectacular beach, awesome authentic fun town and most of the people were very friendly and inviting. The Beach Boys can be very annoying especially when you just want to relax or go for a walk, but that challenging with having people approaching you and trying to constantly sell you things. The softest sand I have ever felt, beautiful beach and safe swimming area to enjoy.
Beautiful beach. Stayed at Leopard beach resort.
Visit twice a year, stunning beaches, friendly locals, stunning wildlife, from transparent crabs, swordfish, turtle sanctuary and beach bars. Beautiful beach where you can enjoy a swim or a lovely walk without interruption

Great park. You can feed the giraffe, the monkeys, watch the Hippo and alligator feeding and let a 100 year old tortoise. Go at 2-3 pm so you can feed the giraffe and watch the other feeding.
It's really an insightful visit. Especially with the guides who take the tour groups and give detailed narration about the facility and how the animals got placed there. Fun fact I didn't know crocodiles can stay without eating for 3 months. Best part of the tour is the viewing the feeding of the crocodile, hippos and giraffes. This usually takes place from 3pm-4.30pm.
Nice place to bring your family and create memories here. Animal are well kept and fed, I saw giraffes, Tortoise, 2 hippos a couple of waterbucks and snakes. Was really happy.
Great place to experience the wild in a protected spaces, reptiles, Giraffes, Hippos, Fish, butterfly, snakes . The eco system is so natural, yet well protected. It's great for all age groups. I recommend it as a must visit place for those visiting Mombasa. It's worth it
Mid Aug 25. 2200 ksh and passed by only kid ticket? Entrance was being torn down and ticketing was by guy under the tree with table. No map or brochure about it at all. Expecting better for the price, as it was almost 10 times what locals pays. And the most interesting was the blueballs monkeys and not even the animals were supposed to be.
Its a nature walk experience. Kinda like a zoo but the some animals are free to move around. It has a strict schedule if you want to enjoy the whole experience. Thats following the feeding times. You feed the giraffes. But the hippos and crocodiles are fed so you get to see them out of the water. The park also closses early so you need to plan your time well.
Nice place to see giraffe and feed the. Also good to see deer , giant tortoise, crocodiles, reptiles, butterfly park etc
It is an interesting place to visit. I enjoyed watching the giraffe feed, tortoise walking on the grass and the huge crocodiles skimming on their cages pools. However, I did not get to see the hippos and the buffalos. I am happy about the rehabilitation of Bamburi quarries into a tourist attraction center. Haller park made my Mombasa worth every coin.

A must-visit gem in Mombasa—stunning architecture, engaging exhibits, and captivating storytelling across centuries. Ideal for history buffs, culture seekers, families, or anyone looking to dive deep into coastal Kenya’s heritage. Just plan ahead, pace your visit, and enjoy a stroll through living history.
It's such a nice place to visit in Mombasa. You'll learn a lot of historical facts especially about Oman and Arabs in general. It also has a spectacular view of the Indian Ocean.
Some vivid history lessons on kenya's coast & how it's influenced us as a society. Be sure to get a guide from the museum, they quite informative.
A must-visit historical landmark in Mombasa! Fort Jesus is one of those places that truly makes history come alive. Walking through its ancient corridors, stone walls, and passages gives you a real sense of what coastal life and trade looked like centuries ago. The cannons, architecture, and carvings have been remarkably preserved, and the ocean views from the upper sections are simply stunning — especially at sunset. I highly recommend taking a guided tour; the guides are very knowledgeable and share detailed stories about the Portuguese, Omani, and British periods, as well as the role Fort Jesus played in protecting Mombasa’s harbor. The Passage of the Arches and the wall engravings were among my favorite spots. It’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site for a reason — full of culture, heritage, and insight into Kenya’s coastal history. Definitely worth a visit for both locals and tourists.
The expérience at Fort Jesus Museum is worth witnessing.... I'm going share a summary of what it is about Fort jesus is a Portuguese fort in Mombasa, Kenya, Built between 1593-1596, UNESCO World Heritage site since 2011. It Showcases Kenyan coastal history, culture, and Portuguese influence.Features exhibits on Swahili culture, maritime trade, and the fort's history. This is a must visit for history buffs and those interested in East African heritage! A lover of history, you would love it
Its not such a big thing everybody makes it out to be...the old way of agriculture and history were interesting. If you go, let a tour guide take you but just keep in mind that he needs to get paid afterwards...set payment rate before he takes you. He arranges Entrance fee and also takes you to elephant tusks and old town.(reason I add those photos as well)
Your experience will depend on your guide. You’ll have a West African vibe, but a different story. The fight that went on here with Oman, British and Portuguese is just thrilling. Try to read a bit about the history before you come.
For the long and interesting history of the fort, there is very little information provided. Having a guide could help, although there's no huarantee the volunteers on the street actually know what they are talking about. Some nice views though...

Bird watching was a waste of cash. Just do boardwalk and just wait for the water to return. Enjoy educational experience from the guide especially on mangrove and it's restoration
It was a great experience on the Mida Creek with a canoe. The mangrove was a nice sight as well, and you can alight at a nearby small island and be shown around by the tour guide
Wonderful place and location, beautiful and comfortable stays. The hospitality was amazing and were received with very warm welcome. One roundtrip free boat ride to other side of the island is icing on the cake. Staff is very helpful. All services are worth 5 stars. Definitely coming back soon :)
Friemdly staff, beautiful view. The sundowner canoe ride was the highlight of my trip!
Mida Creek is a sigh to behold!!! Very beautiful place to visit, here’s why; 1. It has activities you can do the whole day, canopy walk, canoe ride to the nearby islands and a tour on one of the islands 2. They have amazing guides who are well informed, respectful and kind 3. You get to experience a “musical” on the canoe ride back 4. You can swim in the ocean while you’re at it All these activities are dependent on the energy your friends have and I recommend you carry some food coz it’s a long one!!! They also have a restaurant, so no pressure if you won’t carry any! Also, you can’t stay there till late because the water literally gets to the office area, so beware of that! Enjoy your visit!
We had an amazing experience. We called Harrison and informed him we would have two dog's, and he was more then Happy to welcome them. We were served fresh coconut water on arrival. I was concerned about the rest of the group we would join with having dogs, and they were very happy to have them on board, upon Harrison asking them, they even keept checking on them held the leaseh. And always asked if we need help with them, thank you. The captain took us on our walk to the canoe. He even handled my bigger very well. We had some very fresh oysters on the way. He shared alot of knowledge and information of the area. They sang songs on the canoe and it was full of energy and brought alot of good energy, it's something to definitely experience, words would not explain the feeling. We wanted the Honey, but it wasn't available and he was very kind to deliver it the next day to our accomodation. We meet Harrison on our way out, and he was so pleased for us visiting him, he has such a pleasant welcome, as it dint feel like see you sometime, it felt like this is home. Thank you to all his staff on the canoe they made this experience joyful and full of energy. And thank you for allowing my dog's, as this whole trip was for them since we don't know how long we may have with one of them, it meant alot.
Exceptional place to visit. Pristine areas of mangroves, one of the most important coastal ecosystems. Guides available were very knowledgeable (ask for Juma). Plants nursery led by women and small restaurant available on site.
As this place slowly picks up as a tourist destination, it is important to know that it is ran by the community and proceeds go to the community. They have Mangrove Nurseries and a man made bridge to experience the mangrove forest. They hire out crocs to people without for KSHS.50 or $0.5 because of the mud and because you cannot walk barefoot. Better bring your pair. They are involved in arts and craft as well.

The rubbish and plastic on the beach is such a shame, so much that we were lost for words - very sad to see for a nature reserve. See attached images just how bad it is…
Watamu beach has to be the most safest beach I have been to in my history of traveling to coast. I got to visit love island and I love the clear white sand waters.
If you looking for a perfect beach experience between Kilifi and Malindi, then Watamu is the place to be!
Watamu has a very unique and interesting beach experience. A large portion of the coast is covered tall rock cliffs. This lends itself to some every unique exploring and some cool stuff to see. High tide is beautiful with the waves crashing over the rocks. The beach portions are predominantly white sand and are great for sandcastle building or beach sports. The wildlife is less than some other parts of the coast and the sunrise/sunset can be hard to see because of the coves, however it's a gorgeous place to live or vacation.
Was beautiful, enjoyed snorkeling and watching the dolphins.I loved feeding the eels in the mornings too.The beach guides can help know the places to visit around.
Friendly staff, went for the deep sea diving expedition... It was fun snorkeling, swimming with the zebra fish... Made several stop overs. Swimming with the dolphins, and finished with a late lunch at Sudi island
Fresh Sea foods and island excursion done here beautiful small beach with lots of tourist

Snorkeling at Watamu Marine park was amazing. The sea dirty visibility was bad but we enjoyed ourselves. Team Twende NTV.
I don't know how it is during the low season but we came during Christmas time and honestly it is a complete shame. AND absolutely not what I think " conservation" should look like ! We started from blue bay beach. The departing site and organisation is a complete mess. You can see in the pictures attached what is the " glass" boat, just a small dirty plexiglass frame! 20+ boat full of noisy Italian tourist side by side chasing these poor dolphins, one of the boats overturned in the waves. I even heard from one of the boat pilots that some people died there last year, and honestly I'm not surprised according to how it is going on! The snorkeling spot doesn't worth it at all, hundred of people in the sea, dead corail, see weeds and only few fishs. Even the equipment that had been given to us is crappy and dirty.
week in paradise with my fiancé at Watamu's stunning coastline. The crystalclear blue waters and scattered islands created the most breathtaking backdrop for our getaway. The pristine beaches felt like heaven. Watamu isn't just a destination,it's pure magic. Already dreaming of our return! ✨🏝️
The Park is not well taken care of, the controls are not efficient. In the evening the tides can get very high and pose a challenge to safety. Before boarding or making payments for the boat ride be sure you have contacted the right person as you can be easily be mislead. Otherwise the scenic view is great, the glass boat ride to Wakawaka Island, the seafood and traditional dance at the Island gave us a memorable experience. Captain Ali was our guide and he was excellent.
Lovely turquoise blue waters creating a tranquil environment ideal for holidaying and beach fun. Visiting the Sardenye low tide island was out of this world...Then served with fresh sea fish...prawns, octopus, red snapper and squid for lunch in the island made it an experience and a half.
Best experience ever, the view of the dolphin 🐬 😍 👌 , snorkeling, a swim 🏊‍♀️ 😀 and walk on the reef was amazing 👏. The rate was only ksh 1,500 for the 5hrs activities. I would recommend this anytime you visit watamu . It's a walking distance from Turtle Bay villas, turtle Bay resort and hemmingways watamu. There are more villas around where you can get very nice accommodation as well as AirBnBs.
White sandy beach, friendly locals and pocket friendly. If you want a dedicated guide, try the Sorpresso boats. You will never regret. For a full day pay (3k), you get to see the dolphins, snorkeling (they provide gears), if you're lucky you'll see small sharks. Them you'll have sea food for lunch then back at the park. A full day is from 9am to 4pm. Very worth it!
The experience was out of this world❤️ Seeing the difference types of fish swimming right below you was phenomenal! The corals are simply breathtaking ⚡🤍 There are Dolphins too!!!! ( Discalaimer, you have to get to the park early so that you can catch a glimpse of the dolphins, if it's after twelve, don't let the boat guys talk you into going claiming that you'll see the dolphins cause they'd be lying to you! Be there as early as 8am for the ultimate experience!!!⚡ Out of all the places I have visited... This was the most beautiful!

Such a stunning place! The rocks with all their shades and colors are absolutely amazing. We made a tour with a local guide. It was very interesting. And the sunset over hell's kitchen is really something you don't want to miss.
Visited Dec 2022. Great experience but the heat is no joke. Preferably visit early morning. Interesting history to it. It's an initiative to support the community as told.
A great experience, Upon arrival you are met and introduced to your guide (500ksh). They provide information about the site and guide you through the canyon. Our guide was great at pointing out food photo spots and allowing us to explore. You get around 1 hour in the canyon. We arrived at around 3:30/4:00 so we could enjoy sunrise on the rim. This was a great experience. They have a bar area selling beers and cold drinks at reasonable prices. Overall a very good experience in a unique setting
Such a beautiful place and over view of nature. Good reception, introductory and entrance fee. They are very quick to attend to people hence no delays at all.
A MUST in your buck list when visiting the Kenyan Coast. A lot of agencies offer the guided tour and it’s definitely a tour to do. Realizing that Kenya nature has much more to offer than Safaris and Crystal clear sea, these canyons are truly a gem ! Johnathan was our guide, 22 years of experience. We got lucky to have him!
The combination of historic architecture, lively eateries, and the breathtaking sunset panorama makes Hell's Kitchen a captivating place to experience the magic of New York City's twilight.
Amazing place to visit and take a walk in. It's a feast for the eyes. U have to wear comfortable shoes to walk through with ease. We visited on a sunny day and everything went well.
The visit was breath taking. You can take a thousand photos and still have an urge to take More photos. The staffs are friendly and welcoming.

One week Holiday at the Bamburi beach hotel was amazing. I enjoyed every single moment and had so much fun. The Rooms are big. enough. You have everything you need water, sugar, tea and coffee. Everyday the rooms are being cleaned and the sheets are changed. The service is very friendly and nice. The Staff ask you if you're okay or need anything. I made a lot of friends there with the Staff. Food is fresh and delicious. The Location was so beautiful. A big pool and a small pool where your can enjoy yourself and do activities with the staff like exercises or playing water ball. In the evening there are performance of traditional dances. I highly recommend everyone to go on holiday there.
Currently under repair and I can't wait to see how it finally turns out. The reception so far looks great with a great open sea view...excited on their behalf I hope to visit once its completed 🎊🎊🎊
I highly recommend it to everyone planning for a vacation. We really enjoyed everything right from the yummy meals, rooms etc. Excellent services and friendly staff. Hoping to visit again soon.
A Friendly hotel, nice environment ,cool ambiance ,active staffs secured environment the place is just fairly great for relaxing.
The good first: Service and hospitality is flawless.***** The first room we got did not have WiFi connection and the AC was not functioning properly, but after a couple of visits to the reception we were transferred to another room which had both amenities up to standard. **** Food: The food has a bit of variety but does not exactly meet the taste buds. Overall: Four stars****; Good value for money(More reasonably priced than other all inclusive hotels in the Kenyan North Coast.)
Very nice hotel. It's 3 stars hotel but have definitely enough potential to get more. Appreciate a great African food served here. The service and personel is just perfect. People are smiling, you can hear 'how are you' from everyone. They're very helpful. Everything is so clear. The people makes that hotel exceptional. Of course, when you go out of hotel, you will surrounded by the beach boys offering many things. It's worth to look at the excursion offers by the guy with badges, uniforms. If you go outside the hotel through main gate, on the rights side you can see women's offering massage. They're working hard, the massage is just great. Ask for Violet or Mona Lisa. It was great time.
Currently, the entire hotel is undergoing extensive renovations. It's a huge mess to offer it for vacation at this time.
A really good hotel. We enjoyed ourselves very much. Staff was very polite and kind. A few issues with the bathrooms such as sink leaks and blocked toilets. But they were fixed promptly. Also some minor issues with the aircon and it's remote. Food was always delicious. Dessert - too many eggshells in your cakes. Otherwise an overall great experience. Would definitely recommend and would definitely stay there again.

Great and thrilling place, but in the afternoons the tides rise too high, and the beach shores are covered by water, I recommend visiting in morning hours. Also the water is salty, avoid metallic wearables to prevent theme from coroding.
Quiet, clean, warm, beautiful. Local beach with few tourists. The sand is magnificent, brilliant white that doesn't get hot. The water was warm and the waves were perfect for all ages. Yeah there is a few sellers and camel owners at the beach, but they are not overly exhausting or unfriendly. Just be polite, say no and enjoy the Indian ocean by sunset. Magical.
A great beach, plenty of things to do..nice bars to sit, relax and watch the world go by.
The beach is just fine with coast guards and security personnel around so enjoying swimming and sports activities at the beach is safe. Restaurants at the place to are great offering the best seafoods sports equipment such as the speed boats and other stuffs. I recommend it.
Safe beach to relax, lifeguards are observant and local snacks available, camel or boat rides at fair prices. The beach needs a little clean up of washed up water plants
It's very clean and less congested. One can enjoy themselves in the ocean. Walking around before the water begins to return back This is jetskis, dhow riding for deep sea fish expeditions at a cost.
Great experience, public beach with nice coconut trees. No need to go to hotel, it is accessible to everyone. Nest time is from 3 to 8, it is nice during the night. (Our experience was safe)
Very clean and beautiful atmosphere for a public beach! Lots of family friendly crowds and activities. There are many lifeguards for safety and the minimal pollution makes the beach a great cheap way to spend your day! There are also many food options as well as locals who can take you out on a boat for a reasonable price.

Gede Ruins is like stepping into an ancient Arab ghost town — spooky, magical, and oddly charming. The old stone walls whisper secrets of the past, while the nearby Snake Park serves up slithery entertainment, from tiny noodles with fangs to full-blown pythons. And the monkeys? Total hustlers. Flash a peanut or banana, and boom—they’re your new furry backpack!
Was a nice and informative walk through the ruins, the guides are very knowledgeable. Also a spot to see some monkeys.
The lost ancient history of East Africa. It is not known who lived here. It is an interesting ruin with a very nice atmosphere. Do not approach at night as you may be cursed.
Entry was 500 ksh. No guide is needed, but they might give you useful information about the ruins. However they might not give you the full tour around, since the outerwalls are further. A good cultural stop on your way to Lamu. It took us about 1h
Visited in Dec 2022. Butterfly farm welcomes you. Interesting history on the ruins. Appreciated work done by snake park especially with the community and anti venom.
Very authentic place. We had a knowledgeable tour guide called Hudson who was patient and explained to us the set up of the Ruins with the different houses and potentially who lived there. The excavation we were told was only a fraction of what was still buried underground, which was fascinating to us. We also visited the snake park, which could use a bit of a revamp. The last stop was the butterfly house, which was a bit underwhelming to be honest. Worth the stop over as a morning activity on your way to Watamu though.

Pembe Za Ndovu is an iconic landmark that truly represents the vibrant culture and history of Mombasa. I visited over the weekend, and I didn't have to wait to access the area, which was a great start! The atmosphere is lively, and the site offers incredible photo opportunities. The towering tusks are not just a visual marvel but also a reminder of Mombasa's deep ties to trade and tourism. What stood out to me was how clean and well-maintained the area is despite the heavy foot traffic. However, parking nearby can be a bit tricky during busy hours, so plan accordingly. Overall, this is a must-visit spot if you're in Mombasa. Whether you're a tourist or a local, Pembe Za Ndovu is worth your time for its cultural significance and stunning presence.
Most iconic place in Mombasa. It always gives you the vibe whenever you see them. With the current renovation, they look amazing. When in Mombasa, take a picture here and have one of the most memorable places in Kenya. They were built in 1950 to honour the visit of the British Royal Family. There is ample parking and professional photographers on site.
Hare Krishna! Nice to see this historical place again - this time close up after 30 years. nice to see , shame Mombassa is not as beautiful as I remember it 30 years ago. Very nice place to visit still, and lots of friendly locals.
It's an open public place you can take pictures with your own phone or use the photographers around there, they charge ksh100 per picture. The scenery is great and the place very clean . You can't say you're in mombasa and miss this place for a pic . It's like Mombasa identity. No ticket needed .
A nice place, a tourist attraction site with big well set elephant task. Beside it is a cool park where one can rest and enjoy the warm environment if the coastal city of Mombasa
My friends and I went to Pembe Za Ndovu to take photos, we found this gentleman Ray who assisted us and took our photos. We appreciate people like Ray. God bless him.
Is a beautiful monument. No tour needed, you can just visit it on foot or by motorbike.
Mombasa's Pembe za Ndovu are popular because they are a prominent, easily accessible landmark symbolizing the city's rich history, connection to wildlife, and unique identity. The tusks were first built in 1952 to commemorate the visit of Queen Elizabeth II to Mombasa, making them an important historical symbol of the city's past. Pembe za Ndovu offer visitors incredible photo opportunities, a lively atmosphere with local vendors, and a convenient starting point for exploring other attractions like Fort Jesus and the historic Mombasa Old Town.

I had an amazing time at the Bio-Ken Snake Farm in Watamu! This place is a must-visit for anyone interested in wildlife, conservation, or simply learning something new. The farm is home to over 300 snakes from more than 20 species, and the tour was both fun and highly informative. Our tour guide, Reuben, was fantastic—knowledgeable, engaging, and clearly passionate about snakes and their conservation. He took the time to debunk some common local myths about snakes, which was eye-opening. What really stood out to me were the farm’s conservation efforts and their work in educating locals about the importance of coexisting with snakes. They’re also doing incredible work in anti-venom development, with a dedicated research lab on-site. It’s inspiring to see their future plans to produce antivenom locally, which will be a game-changer for the community. Overall, this was a great experience that combined education, conservation, and fun. Highly recommend it to anyone visiting Watamu!
It was a fun and memorable experience visiting the Snake Farm of Watamu. This place is especially great for kids who are into animals and eager to learn about reptiles. The staff were knowledgeable and friendly, making the visit both educational and enjoyable. I would definitely recommend it to everyone—whether you’re visiting with family or just curious about wildlife, it’s worth the stop! If you are in watamu !!!!!
A great experience - Very educational and welcoming. It is well made and all the reptiles look very healthy. They also showed us the lab and explained to us how they make anti-venom. Next time I'll do the Snake Safari!
It was a great experience for the kids, we saw snakes feeding as well as being milked. Had the entire process explained in kid friendly language. The friendly ibis was the icing on the cake
Great experience and our guide Emma nuclear was so enthusiastic about the snakes and experienced. I definitely recommend the place.
I had one of the greatest experience as a snake enthusiast, Kyle Buster and Florian Finke not excluding Maria were a great team. Taking us through the different snake species, snake identification (Venomous from non-venomous) snake bites, how to avoid getting bitten, treatment and snake rescue. I would encourage anyone to visit Watamu Snake Farm and learn more about snakes.
An absolutely amazing experience! The museum is beautiful, well organized, and full of incredible snakes – a truly impressive collection where you can admire fascinating and rare species up close. We also joined the Snake Safari with three members of the staff, and it was simply outstanding: wonderful people, extremely kind, caring, and always ready to answer every question with passion. The safari itself was thrilling, educational, and fun at the same time, giving us unforgettable memories. We even purchased a snake, knowing that everything we paid directly supports their foundation, which works on research and the production of antivenoms – an incredibly important mission for the health and safety of local communities. A place where science, nature, and humanity come together. Highly recommended to anyone visiting Watamu!
We enjoyed our visit soo much! Our guide told us a lot of interesting facts about the snakes. You can even see the venom milking process! The snake farm plays an important role in saving local lives! Highly recommended!

I was pleasantly surprised how nice this experience was based on other reviews. The tour guide was great, informative, and had a good humour. There were lots of monkeys to see but even if there weren't, it's still a really good price for the tour and goes towards a good place.
I like to support a good cause. This conservation centre is in Diani along beach road. They are mostly dedicated to the rescue of monkeys especially the Colobus monkey. I do appreciate that they rescue to release as opposed to keep. On arrival, you are ushered in, make your payments: KES250 for everyone above 12 years and KES 150 for below 12 for citizens. You then watch a short video on what and why they do what they do and then you have a brief tour of the place. We saw very few monkeys, a bush baby and that was about it. I didn't feel it was worth what we paid. Based on the other reviews, I thought there would be some trails, we would go to the nursery and it would be an hour or two experience but it was barely 30 minutes. The merchandise they were selling was also quite expensive according to me. In as much as I would like to support the conservation, I left the place feeling that I couldn't. They have installed the ladders all along beach road to aid the monkeys in moving around, but I didn't see any past beach road. I think(my opinion) talking to people especially the locals on how much it costs to install one and asking people to pay for one if they can is something worth looking into. Perhaps rope in the hotels and Airbnbs in spreading awareness. I would definitely support this than paying for a visit here which I felt was not worth it. There is also the question on gentrification and Conservation which as a Kenyan makes me feel overwhelmed and most time helpless. I am very 50/50 with this experience.
A wonderful conservation set in a beautiful forest. A must go see when in Diani to learn about the wildlife and what we can do to preserve the forests and protect our natural world. It is a working conservation so a special place to visit.
Colobus Conservation is an amazing place and a must-visit! It’s a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting monkeys and much more. During our 1.5-hour visit, a guide from Colobus Conservation explained in detail how they work to preserve the population of colobus monkeys, how they rescue monkeys kept as pets, and slowly help them adapt to life back in the wild. We learned how they build special rope bridges so monkeys can safely cross roads, and how they collaborate with power companies to make electrical wires safer for them. The center also runs programs for school children and students, and even grows tree and bush seedlings to help nearby hotels restore the environment. We got to see the rare colobus monkeys up close and also learned about other species. The whole experience was incredibly educational and inspiring. The center itself and the people working there — the huge impact they are making — truly touched our hearts. It’s the kind of place you want to support and be a part of. After visiting, my husband and I decided to become regular donors to help their mission. I highly recommend this experience to anyone who loves animals. A huge thank you to everyone at Colobus Conservation — you are doing something so important and so good for this world. With all my heart, THANK YOU ❤️
I volunteered at Colobus conservation for just under a week. It was the most rewarding, ethical and life changing experience. All the employees at colobus were so friendly and welcoming- they made me feel at home and welcomed. Being a volunteer at colobus conservation, you really get to experience what it’s like to help a monkey in danger. Every day is a different day, and I learnt so much. I will definitely be volunteering again at Colobus conservation, and will stay for a longer period. If you’re thinking of volunteering at colobus, do it! It’s worth it!
We had a wonderful visit with Kevin, who guided us through the conservation center and shared so many interesting insights. We spent a long time searching for the monkeys together, which made the experience even more exciting. The team is doing an amazing job protecting the Colobus monkeys, and everyone we met was incredibly friendly and welcoming. Highly recommended!
I read on Google Maps that this is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting Colobus monkeys, so I decided to visit the center to see how it works and possibly make a donation. I was greeted by a polite young woman who seated me in front of a TV and played a short video about the center’s activities. The video showed how they help monkeys cross roads safely by building special ladders and bridges. However, to be honest, I didn’t see any of those ladders anywhere around the area. The only one I found was inside the center itself — it looked brand new and was placed in a cage. After a short tour, I offered to make a donation. But then I was taken to a counter and shown a price list with fixed amounts. Even though Google describes this place as a non-profit organization, and at the beginning I was told that donations were voluntary, I was informed that I had to pay 1,000 shillings. I asked again, pointing out that a donation should be voluntary, but they told me that this was the required fee. I explained that I only had 500 shillings in cash and could pay by card, but they said they don’t accept cards. Then the staff insisted on going with me to an ATM so I could withdraw the remaining amount and pay in cash. In the end, I left 500 shillings, but no receipt was given to me. It seems that only a very small portion of the money actually goes to helping the monkeys. The whole experience felt more like a tourist money trap than a genuine non-profit conservation project. It’s a shame, because the idea of protecting monkeys is great — but the way this place operates raises serious doubts
We first met Mary at our hotel (Diamonds Leisure on Weds 24.9.25) whilst she was giving a passionate presentation on the colobus trust and the works of the organisation. This led us to our visit the following day where we met Mary again and she toured us around the trust site. We thoroughly enjoyed listening to and looking at the conservation work in Diani in protecting the beautiful colobus monkeys. We recommend booking a taxi from your hotel and paying the fee in cash on your arrival, this ensures the trust receive full payment to continue their works! Thank you Mary!

Nice excursion by ship. Experience includes dolfin and turtle watching. Snorkeling is also an option from the ship.
Wasini island and the Mpunguti iland was awesome. We saw dolphins on our way to the iland. The Mpunguti iland is snow white. Dont be afraid of the reeve, make use of the lifesavers tube, if you are afraid. I was afraid, used a tube and saw beautiful tropical fish. What a wonderful experience. The boatrip was a fantastic. adventure. We booked through Rama from Southern Palms Beach hotel. The snorkeling was an amazing experience, seeing the beautiful tropical fish on coral reefs. We would have liked to snorkeling for a longer period. The ship crew Bla Bla was polite and informed
Amazing experience! We rented a private boat from Omar and had the best experience! Our tour stopped in the village to have fantastic lunch and visit the island. The dead coral forest was very interesting to see. The corals were breathtaking, I strongly suggest bringing your own snorkel if you can, we didn’t have ours with us and couldn’t find a place to buy. However they provide you snorkels if you are okay using a shared one. I survived with the googles but still enjoyed it to the fullest.
Took a private boat to the island and maybe see the dolphins. It's a great trip, though expensive if you don't go in a group. Food at the restaurant is OK, pricey for what it is, but part of the deal. Did some snorkeling, which was excellent, but didn't see any dolphins. The trip in the boat out to the reef is 40 minutes one way against the wind, so quite bumpy, be prepared!
Wasini is a small island off the mainland. We spent an afternoon here after a tour to Kisite Mpunguti and tried out the fish and wali wa nazi. The people are quite friendly. They have some nice artefacts which one can buy and it's definitely a nice place and I highly recommend it to everyone .
I visited the island a while back and I really enjoyed the experience. Watching the dolphins was such an highlight. Besides the dolphins, there’s the magnificent coral reef and the snorkeling. After these activities, later in the afternoon, we had lunch at the local eateries. The food was okay-ish, hence the lack of a 4*. My family and I ordered a platter is extra sea food since but I’d honestly say the price was not worth it. Just have what’s already prepped for the group, which you also do get to choose what to eat. After lunch, was a small tour of the village. It’s tiny and the tour took us less than 10-20 minutes to finish. All in all, great experience!
Magical, truly magical! I rode on a boat, I saw the dolphins, I snorkeled, I had a good swim and the views are to die for. The beach is superb. Don’t go to the coast without visiting the South Coast and Wasini Island.
It's a coral island with very warm and friendly people. The food is fresh and absolutely amazing. Make sure to try the seaweed sauce. The coral garden and boardwalk is something I highly recommend visiting while on the island.
