Had a nice experience at Shehnai! The food was tasty and the service was great too. You can tell they put effort into the flavors and presentation. My only letdown was the portion size — for the price, I was hoping for a bit more on the plate. Still, a lovely spot if you're after quality, just be ready for lighter portions.

This restaurant truly deserves more than 5stars from the friendly staff to the management taking care of you every step of your meal ,the menu has lots of varieties and excellent vegetarian options ,the potions are out of this world when i tell you breakfast was the last meal i had and i couldn’t finish my meal ,the soft Indian music transports you to another place as you enjoy your food The meal i had was recommended to me by the staff and my god the lamb was soft ,juicy and tender every single spoon you take bursts with flavour i asked for medium spicy and i got medium spicy the desert just hit the right spot not overly sweet and if you are in Mombassa visit shehnai restaurant and you will love it whether you are dining alone or with friends this is the place to go from my observation for couples the restaurant is a great date night spot my overall experience was great the food wait time was small and i had a good time surely will be back thank you (Note:If you want cant finish your meal ask and it will be neatly packed for you )

Shehnai is hands down one of the best restaurants in Mombasa! Their butter chicken is rich, creamy, and full of flavor easily one of the best I’ve ever had. The paneer tikka is cooked to perfection, smoky yet tender, and the corn curry is a hidden gem that keeps you coming back for more. If you’re looking for authentic taste, excellent service, and a memorable dining experience, Shehnai is the place to be. Highly recommended!

Not what it was 30 years ago rubbery chicken tikka and butter chicken scrappy pieces small portion, waiter was good and the family very polite as usual. If the father could come back and eat here he would probably be very disappointed in the quality of the food. (Watch out for bill was not expecting hidden charges.) Location is now in a garage. Ps After reading some of the reviews I wonder if they are staff or family friends.

They are closed on monday. So i went there on tuesday. My reception was great and the welcomed me with greetings and smile. In entrance i saw a lot of certificates hanged on the wall which this restaurant received as an award by recognized travle companies around the world. Like hospitality industry, tripadvisor, other safari and tourism bodies and they looked amazing to me. Interior is very nice and they serve people onntable ala karte. Due to covid 19 siguation i did not found other customers othar than me at that time. The waiter brought mene card and i started reading, more than 100 different varity of dishes were listed on that card and price was reasonable. Most of the food items were from asian cuisine and i requested for hyderabadi biryani. The manager suggested me to order one of their best biryani called swahili biryani and i accepted the offer. Both costed the same. After waiting for 15 minutes they served me biryani with coca cola, chutnyies and curd. I asked for spicy biryani and they did meet my requirement. I liked the taste of it so much that i decided to write this review. I enjoyed instrumental music in the background and liked the ambiance of the dining hall. The painings of old times touched me and antique collection it items mesmerized me. This restaurant met my expectation and like to visit them again. I requested for bill and they brought mouth freshener with vill. I felt very happy about this lunch. Thanks team shahnai.

The food did not live up to the view. I’m not saying the food was bad. It was just OK and at that price I expect more than OK. I tasted more garlic on the shrimp than the shrimp and I tasted no coconut in the rice now the view is gob, smacking beautiful specially if you can make it for the sunset so maybe I just recommend going to the bar and watching the sunset. The staff was very attentive and nice and the building is very beautiful but the view.!

We had booked for the dhow dinner a group of 4 friends dressed in white. We had a wonderful experience. The food was out of this world delicious, well presentable, the atmosphere great, service great. Boniface was a great and good server. The dawa wow, garlic bread and soup. Salad, main course, dessert and coffee and halau/halfway. This was a life time experience I will never forget. The band had great music we danced the night away. The dhow had patrons from different parts of the world. We got together and we danced sang and enjoyed ourselves. The crew were wonderful people. The captain introduced himself to the patrons, table by table. It was a beautiful and memorable evening. It was a 4hr dhow dinner tour. I will definitely came back.

Excellent service, food. The view is beautiful. When there for early dinner and enjoyed sunset. It is on the expensive side, but worth it. The portions are really big, or at least they were for me - I wasn’t able to finish

Its an absolute top restaurant in Mombasa. Wide choice of seafood and more. Good riverside vibe. Great service. Regarding the seafood they have a lot to learn from Japanease or French but still five star.

We had a wonderful meal here. There are awesome views of the old harbour. The food was wonderful and the staff were knowledgeable and friendly. Will definitely be back next year.

Food was great I got the grilled lobster and it tasted really good with the lemon butter. Free garlic bread, chips (crisps) and peanuts, great lava cake. Service was good, but not extraordinary. Nice atmosphere next to ocean, bathroom has air conditioning. Overall 5 stars

When I walked through Old Mombasa on Sunday with a guide, I was told that the Blue Room is one of the oldest restaurants in town, supposedly founded in 1951. I went there for lunch, and today it feels more like a modern bar and cafeteria with an international menu. I enjoyed the coconut chicken. Definitely a good spot in bubbling downtown Mombasa.

Went in for breakfast The architecture is impressive and calming The breakfast options were numerous and varied enough for different tastes The pastries were fluffy and filling while the chicken lollipop stickers were savoury and enjoyable.

Very good food and customer service. Vanessa was our waiter and made sure we were happy. She remembered I don’t like strawberry sauce and made sure with the chef did not add it ordered the breakfast sandwich made with mandazi and the crepes.

The restaurant has extremely warm stuff members. They are fast in their services and the place offers really nice food (freshly cooked on order). The price ranges from mid to high but the food portions make you see the worth for your money. Although the restaurant is busy it is not noisy. I really enjoyed the ambience. It is an ideal place to grab a bite with your loved ones while in town. On top of that, they have clean restrooms which i really appreciate

Beautiful ambience, amazing work they have done with the place and very relaxing indeed. The food was good. The service was okay but could be better especially with promptness to customer requests.

First of all, there's mandhi in the menu which they do not offer. The first waitress brought us the menu then pretended she did not see us when we signalled we were ready to order. The fish fingers did not taste like fish at all. It was moist on the inside and tasted only of spices. The fries were pretty bland. The mutton curry also had lots of spices that did not mix very well. Tasted like uncooked spice. The straws that came with the drinks were a bit too big. The weather was chilly so if you're going in the evening carry a light sweater. The milkshake and buttered naan were good. Pina colada is also good. Pretty place but overall bad service and poor food.

Forodhani Restaurant was such a wonderful stop during my time in Mombasa. The location by the ocean makes it the perfect spot to relax and enjoy the breeze while watching the city’s vibrant life go by. What really stood out for me was their hot Dawa drink. I wasn’t feeling my best that day, and the warmth of the drink—infused with honey, lemon, and ginger—instantly soothed me. It felt like a hug in a cup and gave me just the boost I needed to continue exploring. The staff were attentive and kind, and the atmosphere felt welcoming even for a solo traveler. Great ambience, views and food. The cool breeze makes it a wonderful place to enjoy a sumptuous meal. Install handwash basin/sink in the restaurant instead of guests having to go to wash hands in the toilets.

The food quality was acceptable, and the prices were reasonable — neither too expensive nor too cheap. When we visited, the local Swahili dishes were unfortunately sold out, so I ordered a penne pasta instead. It tasted good, but it was vegetarian and didn’t include chicken. The view is really beautiful, and overall, I would recommend this place.

I had such a lovely time here. From the time you walk in, you just feel well taken care of. Their menu is extensive, so you have so much to choose from. I went for the live cooking experience, where the chef cooked for you as you watched. Everything made was delicious. Would totally recommend.

We came here on a Monday night. Although the place didn’t have many customers at that time, the experience was a great one. Magical Breezes blowing through the open seating area. Great food and service. They great you with a little drum routine. Well recommended.

Very good Japanese restaurant with Sake, and all inclusive course meal for around 4200ksh. with Japanese characteristics with Suchi, and you can ask a course without raw food and you'll be served.

We went there with the expectation to have nice Japanese food but it was awful…. Put too much soya sauce and salt and ended up leaving the food. Not at all a good experience. Wish had went to nearby Tapas which had delicious food.

The ambiance was exactly what I needed on a chilled Thursday evening. Misono is decorated in chic old Japanese decor featuring little fountains and a pond outside. The service was phenomenal, the waiter greeted us with a smile and explained every single dish as well recommendations. Waiting time was 10 minutes but it was totally worth it! The sushi was fresh and delightful. I’d definitely recommend! Can’t wait to visit again. Definitely the best place to have sushi in Mombasa.

Food took over an hour, and we also changed 3 tables because we were a large group and wanted to be comfortable. The chairs are super uncomfortable. Food was average. The chicken liver was pretty good.

I like Indian food... here. The food here is great, if spicy is your thing as well as curry. I'm mostly here for the curry because its bloody delicious and with some Naan on the side, it's a "curry munchers" dream dish. I'd mostly recommend the Chicken Masala (Boneless) or Butter chicken (boneless) served with buttered Naan and/or rice. The food is great, service is... okay-ish. The food will get to you in time, if hopefully you went in where there were little to no customers in apart from you. I will warn you to be on the lookout for the usual flies that may make their way in, to ruin the sanctity of the restaurant. The decor of the restaurant is traditional albeit outdated, but in contrast to the cuisine they specialize in. Oh and there is more than just the usual curry here, as they do serve a variety of different dishes.

As a child this was my brother's and my favorite place to eat tasty food. We lived opposite Singh restaurant and it was a Sunday treat for us. We would hardly eat one chapati at home but when we came to Singh restaurant we'd eat at least 2/3 and those were really big chapatis with the best egg curry and the chicken curry (we never ate the chicken just the sauce! 🤣) I am so sad to hear about the closing of my childhood favourite restaurant.

Authentic Punjabi Food & North Indian Delicacies. Good Portions of Food served along with UnLimited Traditional Chapati Roti flame fried (the way a Roti is supposed to be.) Ate here twice a day Daily for a week coz the menu is huge. Highly recommended is their BONELESS MUTTON BIRYANI.

Nice little spot. Definitely the best one in the area. However don’t expect much, there are only a few dishes and drinks. We took the snack platter and while it stated 9 types of food, there were only 5. The cardamom coffee was exceptional and the juice was also delicious! Not a bad place to stop on your way to Fort Jesus.

A nice place to stop for a cup of tea or coffee in the old town. The atmosphere is calm and the decor is nice. We didn't have food, but the samosas looked good. We were able to pay with credit card

The Galaxy Chinese Restaurant is located above the former Florida Nightclub and offers an interesting view of the Mombasa harbor entrance. The manager greeted us very friendly, and the service was attentive. The food was delicious and varied. In conclusion, it's definitely worth a visit.

Barka, once my absolute favorite, has sadly declined. Their prices no longer match the quality, which has significantly decreased. Hygiene is also a concern. With so much competition, a major revamp is needed. The masala chips I recently had were far inferior (and more expensive) than those at other restaurants. Even their breakfast, which I used to love, was awful. This isn't an attack, Barka, but a plea to improve. I've always loved your restaurant and hope you can bring the quality back up to where it was. Currently, I'm very disappointed.

Huge location with some options. They don’t have a menu, which makes you afraid of being scammed 😹 but the food has a decent price, and good taste for the price.

The Chicken Biriani is really tasty. Portions are very generous. I wish I could eat more, keep washing it down with the sugar cane juice with a hint of ginger and lemon.

First time here. I went in the evening on a Friday. I had a pizza and some herbal tea. The tea was not great and the pizza was average. I found the music too loud to hold a proper conversation. If you aren't driving then the location is not great either. They have a pool, a pool table, a screen and I was informed that they hold events and karaoke sessions.

The restaurant has a nice garden that can host any event and for kids to play. It even looks prettier at night with the warm lights. The food and presentation is amazing however their milkshake was too watery.

While attending a stand-up comedy show at Dhow House, I ordered some food, but unfortunately, it turned out (the chicken to be specific) to be completely undercooked. The chef offered to prepare a fresh dish for me, but I declined for obvious reasons.

Well stocked, good service, very convenient first time I went there. Went back lately and like most Nakumatt outlets, the shelves could do with replenishment of stock otherwise it's slowly dying.

This used to be the best supermarket on the island. I would never shop anywhere else. Sad that it's now facing a cash crunch hence has mostly empty shelves. Hoping for its quick recovery.

Great food and excellent service. This little restaurant if right by Forte Jesus. Their menu is varied: Indian food, Italian food, Kenyan food, etc. It's not cheap but the quality is really high.

Best sea food ever with Abu the chef

Better to double check the prices written on the menu. We ordered seafood pilau and the menu said 400 shillings but they charged 650 shillings when we were paying. Instead of just apologizing of the mistakes, they tried to give a lot of excuses and insisted to charge 650. Seafood pilau is not bad but that's it.

Noted to readers: the restaurant is now called New Island Dishes. On the same road as before, but in a new location, right opposite Ricoda. The food here is simply amazing, I would recommend the charcoal grilled fish. There's also a variety of local dishes served buffet style, and be sure to try their house mocktails, which though slightly pricey are truly delicious.

Gone to Mamadi Recoda.... after almost 3 years. Taste not the same anymore..plus costly too... anyways..just to bring back memories.. worth a visit.

I have been a loyal guest at Ali Baba Cave Restaurant for many years, and it is remarkable how the quality of both service and cuisine has remained consistently excellent for over 15 years. On my most recent visit, I had the pleasure of bringing friends along, and once again, we were impressed. The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the flambéed pancakes – a true culinary delight and among the finest I have ever experienced

I came here to celebrate my birthday and had the best experience! The food was amazing, the atmosphere was perfect, and our server Virginia made everything even better. She was so friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed the entire time. Every detail was just right from the service to the presentation. I booked a table here around 1 year ago. We ate there on Wednesday 17th September 2025 (for reference). Now, I've seen videos of this place and I've seen photos. It looked wonderful. That's why I booked. Nothing prepared me for how awesome this place is! It's so cozy, comfortable and beautiful. To be honest they could serve McDonald's there and it'd still be amazing. Onto the food.. I'm sure the menu is inspired by French cuisine. We ordered 3 courses each (2 minimum are required). We both enjoyed the food very much and the chef is absolutely talented. The waiter too actually as my girlfriend had flambe crepe suzette and so the night was set on 🔥. Sitting in a candle lit cave with open roof to the stars. What a treat! We had a great time. Promised ourselves we'd return. All of the staff were great and we even received free pick up and drop off to and from hotel! A nice touch by the restaurant. For a couple who had 3 courses each, 2 glasses of red wine and 2 cocktails - $154 Please see my photos but remember they won't do it justice. You HAVE to go! Simply fantastic.

The cave set up was quite lovely,especially at night;making that time perfect for couples. It gets quite hot though and the fan that was on our side wasn’t working. Most of the wait staff is friendly but there’s a particular guy who dismissed us most of the time and even switched tables with his colleague. It seemed like he didn’t want to serve locals (my sisters and I) He was probably hoping for a tip. But we thank God that he did this because we actually ended up getting such a good waiter who made the experience better As for food,it was okay,nothing special. The desserts were good,apart from the crepe one. It tasted like it hadn’t cooked through well. Over-ally okay experience with okay food.

A very touristy, Instagram-style place. The only real highlight is the beautiful cave itself. Worth visiting once, but definitely not more. During our 10 days in Kenya we absolutely fell in love with the country. The only place that disappointed us was Ali Barbour’s Cave Restaurant. First of all, the restaurant presents itself as high-end, but in reality there’s no dress code at all. While we were having dinner, men in T-shirts, shorts, and flip-flops were seated at the tables next to us. Second, the restaurant forces you to order at least two dishes per person. Prices are very European, but the service was just average — nothing like the warm, genuine hospitality we experienced everywhere else in Kenya. The food was tasty, but nothing special (honestly, the dinners at our hotel, Ocean Village Club, were far better — and the atmosphere there was amazing). During dinner we also had power cuts (thankfully the restaurant is full of candles). But at one point, the lights went out while I was in the restroom — and since there were no candles there, I was stuck in complete darkness for five minutes. When the lights finally came back on, big cockroaches scattered across the floor... definitely not the experience you’d expect in a place like this. I can only recommend this restaurant to bloggers looking for pretty photos. But apart from the cave itself, it has no soul — everything feels centered around money. Quite the opposite of the rest of Kenya, which truly won our hearts.

Came to Nomad for lunch whilst staying 10 minutes up the road. I ordered the chicken katsu sandwich and my wife had chicken skewers. The food was amazing, my sandwich came with fries and was a meal. Portions were perfect. The quality of the food was superb and reasonably priced. The location is idyllic. Looking out over the ocean as the tide was on the way in just showed off the 50 different shades of blue there seemed to be. The only reason I knocked a star off was that our waiter wasn’t too bothered about service. Other waiters were cheery and bang on, I just think ours may have been having an ‘off’ day but that’s shouldn’t by any means put you off going. It’s worth it, just for the view! Try to time it so you’re there at low tide or as it’s on the turn because when it’s fully in it’s a bit rough so for those Gram/ TT pics, go when it’s out and the colours are amazing.

The food and service were great. We had the sushi platter for one and the grilled fish platter, all tasting really good. Waiter are fun and attentive, great job! Location is by the sea, so we had a lovely lunch.

The concept is good for guests who want to use the beach and water sport facilities. An adult pays KES 1500 and ChilD KES 500/- . The paid amount is then redeemable against the food and drinks ordered at the restaurant. Restaurant has continental menu, good spread. Quality of food was good. The beef burger is a must try. Everything here is over priced. An Americano single cup will cost KES 600/- Service at kitchen and bar is slow. Our waiter was not the best, he was rude and pushed us to order quickly. Your belongings are safe and a table or bench can be booked per group. Showers, toilet very clean and maintained.

Nomad Beach Bar and Restaurant has a nice setting, but the service was extremely slow and disappointing several times. We ordered a few drinks and it took more than 45 minutes to prepare twice although the restaurant was not busy. The smoothie was more a juice and the lime juice was warm and not good. So we decided not dine at the restaurant but instead order the food directly to our villa at the hotel. This was a big difference - with everything being nice. I would recommend to maintain the same standard of service even if a guest is not staying at the hotel.

The restaurant is in a great location, accessed through a jungle right on the beach. The menu has a wide selection, the cuisine is international. The food was delicious, but nothing special. The service was not friendly at all, the prices are quite high.

The setting is unparalleled: gorgeous ocean views from comfortable benches if sitting on the terrasse. Food is ok, nothing to write home about and comes at premium prices. I liked my salad but quality & quantity did not quite match the price, although I think I ordered one of their better value offerings (seafood salad). Also why is a cappuccino 600 kes? I would truly recommend management to review this: everywhere else in diani, you had a quality cappuccino/latte for 350 kes max. Next time I will go for a cocktail, light bites and the views. Service was very attentive and friendly 🙂

I was told that Yul’s is the place to be on the beach, and being my first visit to the Indian Ocean, I probably expected too much. The spot has clearly seen better days and feels quite touristy, with camels lined up for rides and piles of souvenirs cluttering the beach—not exactly inviting for a swim. That said, the restaurant itself is clean and organized, with a decent-looking menu (though overpriced for Mombasa). The pizza was good, and the staff friendly, but service felt a bit unmotivated. A nice one-time experience, but I’m definitely curious to see what else the coast has to offer.

Ticking Yul's Aerodrome has been on my bucket list for a while now and I'm glad it met my expectations. I must admit the restaurant is a legacy place based on the quality of the infrastructure. It's been there for a while. A view by the beach with a breeze as you enjoy your meal ? Sold! The service was prompt and I enjoyed the ice cream 🍦 Looking forward to the next one!

We had a great time, lovely spot for food and ocean vibes. We enjoyed our delicious food and drinks while feeling the cool ocean breeze. The pizza was fantastic — thin, crispy, and packed with flavor. The beach is beautiful, though it had quite a bit of seaweed when we visited, and it felt a bit busy with vendors and camel rides set up along the shore. It can feel slightly overwhelming if you’re looking for a peaceful beach moment, but it adds to the local charm in its own way. Gets very busy after 1pm. We arrived around 11:30am and stayed for at least 4 hours. We were recommended this spot by family who live here, and we’re glad we came. Much love from Canada!

I know Yul‘s since 30 year‘s when he started. And since 30 year‘s Yul is keeping the german quality in his restaurants. I know Robert’s, Moorings, Nico, Tamarind, The Marina and other restaurants in Mombasa which are already closed due to loosing quality. But only one is keeping his high quality. The pizza is better than Robert’s (I was really upset about the quality there now and do not understand the Hype for that restaurant) and Nico, the Burgers are without competition and always fresh made grounded meat. The avocado prawns are the best and Tamarind cannot compete against Yul’s seafood dishes. The dishes is outstanding and German standard. This is the only restaurant which keeps is standard over year’s and even Yul is not there. I have been here this week several times as I did holidays in August and will come back in December for fishing. Thanks for Daniel for the good service at the table. I would give 6 stars for this restaurant if possible. You need to try out also the cocktails. Thanks for great food here. the fisherman By the way, the have the best ice cream in Kenia.

The locale of this establishment provides convenient access to the beach. While initial reviews had been favourable, the experience did not align with our expectations. Regrettably, the service we received from our server lacked engagement, and there was an apparent lack of interest when we are sought recommendations. The quality of the food did not meet our anticipated standards; the meat was tough and lacked flavour, and the lobster contained minimal meat. It is important to note, however, that the senior waitress demonstrated exceptional service by promptly replacing a spilt drink without hesitation.

On vacation and drugged my siblings for some nice icecream at Yuls. They had wanted to go elsewhere but I remember really enjoying myself. We had icecream and my brother had a vanilla milkshake which was more like a fresh cream milkshake! Something was off. How are we all sick! The deep fried calamari was horrible - too much flour coating.

A lovely location to enjoy some good food. The service was friendly and very quick. We had the passion fruit ceviche- it was well presented- it however didn’t pack a punch of flavour as I thought it would. The seafood platter was generous and definitely needed 2 people to do it justice. All pieces of seafood were perfectly good - including the octopus which wasn’t rubbery- and the seafood was well seasoned. This was an enjoyable dish. Wrapped up the meal with the chocolate mousse. A generous portion but could use a stronger chocolate flavour. The location is lovely. We went on a Friday evening so it was quiet. We were told the parties the location is popular for was the next day ☺️.

My team and I were lucky to be in Watamu on the same weekend when the Papa Remo Beach Party was happening. The atmosphere was amazing – great vibes, good music, and refreshing drinks. The only downside: service at the bar was a bit slow. At times, we had to wait up to 15 minutes just to get a drink. With a simple briefing for the staff, this could easily be improved. Still, nothing to complain about overall – Papa Remo remains one of the best beach locations with excellent music and a fantastic party mood. Just keep in mind, the beach party does not take place every weekend. Best to check the Papa Remo website for upcoming events.

The location is just one of the best you’ll ever come across. Food portions are small ! DJ on sat 20 September really killed the vibe which was such a pity. Tables cleared out when he stopped and started music played it loud, switched it off completely and then comes in with full volume. Please please get some consistency with the music

Great Saturday party. However, the DJ really brought down the energy. The crowd was ready to enjoy the night, but his constant talking interrupted the vibe instead of keeping the music flowing. If the owner is reading this, consider firing Suleiman. A good set would have made a big difference.

Absolutely the best place at Diani! The atmosphere is great, the stuff is friendly and helpful, the view is magnificent and food is super delicious! We came here by accident and returned 3 times as we haven’t found anything better! Especially recommended: grilled octopus, seafood chowder, grilled vegetables. Spaghetti is great for the kids (the portion is enormous, two kids can easily share). And the total hit - chocolate milkshakes! We couldn’t resist ordering it each time ❤️ Great place, highly recommended!

Cafesserie offers delicious & fresh food and great service! There is both indoor and outdoor sitting, as well as a smoking designated area. Love the lemon mint drink on a hot summer day! They also offer good quality icecream.

I was so happy to find Cafesserie while visiting Nyali Beach. They had all my favorites—fresh salads, salmon, and a delicious cappuccino with oat milk. The tropical atmosphere with greenery and a nice breeze made it extra special. And the tiramisu? Absolutely the best! Located in a mall with other great stores, I found myself coming back several times. Highly recommend!

Hands down the best Italian restaurant in Diani. We ordered thin crust vegetarian pizza and mushroom soup, which were probably among the best we've ever had. The owner is from Italy and was very kind, arranging for a nice song by the staff for my wife's birthday. The ambience is nice and relaxed. Would recommend to all!

Overall this place was awesome. We made the mistake of ordering a salad but everything else was perfect. This restaurant is very nice and elegant, so you see that in the prices. But it was a nice change to sit somewhere clean and comfortable. Staff was VERY friendly and welcoming. The restaurant accepts visa. We ordered the spinach ravioli and a caesar salad. The Caesar salad was not good. It had a weird mayo dressing and soggy lettuce (see picture). But the ravioli was amazing. Small portion but amazing. Even though our salad was bad, we’d definitely go back here. Also, local fishermen are trolling for yellowfin tuna this time of year (July), so I’d definitely go back and try something tuna/fish.

The restaurant had been re-vamped since I was last here a few years ago and they have done a really good job. The food is still excellent and it was served quickly and looked good on the plate. Most importantly it tasted delicious. Recommended.

Pretty chill spot right by the road. The food was well presented and served within 20 minutes. I enjoyed their drinks selection and their prices were fair given the location. Also the staff are warm and helpful in helping decide what to eat.

Very Nice atmosphere. We opted to take away chicken and the service was good. The chicken was big and tasty, chips masala was well prepared. We went back to Tiki bar for a take away but this time we decided to have a drink as we wait.The service was good but the kitchen had so many missing items on the menu. We ordered king prawns and we were severed small prawns at the cost of king prawns. After complaining they added a few more baby prawns which was not still worth the price. The Thai curry did not taste like it at all. The tacos are a tiny bit portion. Tipp: Order the take away 2hrs in advance depending on the rush hour. Tiki bar is right infront of the road side which makes it easy for drop off. Give them a chance In General it’s a good spot.

I have to so many places but TIKI carries the day. The food was amazingly presented and very fast service. The 8 were very helpful and always on-site to make sure we were taken care of. They have a variety of cocktails and a good ambience especially if you are working. They have power sockets around that make it so easy to work while enjoying mai tai and the food, the FOOD, was really delicious and good. I would highly recommend it for solo, group or business travellers. I will definitely go back!!! Ooh , and they do delivery and house call by the way.

Good restaurant & bar. The food (octopus) was good, but a bit "fatty", also vegetables were just a few on the place. French fries looked "tired". Cocktail was OK, however it does not seem to be a proper margarita. Service is a bit slow and you need to call waiter yourself, has to be improved.

It is a very nice place with friendly host. We had a little chill there with my boyfriend. Drink some cold beer and eat the special of the day. It was a taco with tuna and a taco with calamari and some extras like been, guacamole, french fries. Teasty and fresh. They have in menu some nice Thai dishes. Fast food with slow service The food quite good and tasty. A lot of fries. Nothing exceptional. Service as everywhere in Diani-slow, some mistakes: starters was survived with main food; one main food was served too late, when other people from company already eat their. One hour waiting during for the order the day time.

Crab Shack is a gem — the sunset views are absolutely breathtaking, and the whole place has a quirky, charming vibe. I had the chili crab and it was delicious — full of flavor and perfectly cooked. It’s a fun, relaxed spot that’s also great for solo travelers. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Watamu. P.s. you need to reserve for the seats by the edge of the deck.

Went for a sunset dinner. The crab samosas are PHENOMENAL. We shared a seafood platter. The seafood was fresh, tasty and perfectly seasoned! The octopus and prawns were the highlight of the platter! Definitely the best seafood I’ve had. Service was also good and the ambiance is relaxed with an amazing view of the sunset on the creek!

The Crab Shack in Dabaso is a charming spot set on a wooden boardwalk overlooking the mangroves, offering a truly magical atmosphere. The seafood is fresh and perfectly prepared, with the crab being a must-try house specialty. Friendly, attentive staff and stunning views make it an ideal place for a memorable meal in Watamu.

We saw the sun go down in real time. I really loved walking through the mangroves to get to the restaurant. It was a bit crowded when we went, its probably not like that all the time. Service was good.

Beautiful. Book table in advance. Ask for a table fronting the ocean. Fairly priced. Full of tourists. The culinary experience is worth the visit.

Let’s start with the not so great, service was a bit slow for the restaurant not being even half full. We went for lunch on the way to the beach. It was quite a nice walk through the mangroves on a wooden bridge through the water. After about a two minute walk the restaurant greets you and the bay right beyond it. The chicken was excellent. Also, the fish was tasty. There was really good flavors. This is what is meant by “off the beaten path”. Such a great atmosphere, a unique setting.

I had a very disappointing experience at Sails in Diani Beach on December 28th. I ordered the salad, which was mediocre at best—nothing special and definitely not worth the price. My friend had the crab spaghetti pasta, and it was completely bland—lacking flavor, seasoning, and the richness you’d expect from a dish featuring crab. Another friend at the table ordered the crab gratin, which was also disappointing. It lacked flavor and had a texture more like baby food than a well-prepared dish. What made the experience even worse was the attitude of the staff and manager. When we raised our concerns politely, the staff seemed indifferent, and the manager flat-out refused to take the crab spaghetti off the bill. They insisted it was “not fair” to do so, even after we explained how poor the quality was. There was no apology or effort to make things right—just a dismissive and unprofessional attitude that soured the entire meal. For a restaurant with such a reputation, this level of poor food quality and bad customer service is unacceptable. Subpar dishes might be forgivable if the staff showed care or professionalism, but this experience left us feeling dismissed and disappointed. I won’t be returning, and I can’t recommend it to others looking for good food or decent service.

Cozy little restaurant right by the beach at Almanara hotel. Parking is on top of a gentle hill which you’ll have to walked down of to get to the restaurant. If you’re used to the warm weather in Diani, you might want to bring something light to cover yourself with as it can get a bit windy. They have different menus for kids and vegans (just ask). A wide selection of wine and the waiters can help you choose if you have a tough time picking something out. Took a friend to celebrate her birthday and we had the Zanzibar cashew chilli fish. First time I’ve had fish that’s both sweet and chilli, not sure how I feel about it so will definitely be back to try it again!

Met some new friends, we met on safari. We're staying at different resorts, Sails was halfway between us. Food was excellent, as was the service. A great choice after all inclusive food. Safe and secure too.

A beautiful spot on Galu Beach with some of my favourite dishes - the carpaccio (tuna or beetroot), smoked sailfish and steak. The desserts are consistently delicious. Great service and the yummiest Espresso Martinis! Couldn’t recommend Sails more✨

The place is exclusive and amazing. It has few tables, the service was friendly and attentive. The food was delightful and the portions very filling. The beach front is breathtaking. A five star experience! This is the place to be.

Had the grilled fish with tomato and mango salad. Fish was grilled just right. The pairing with mango seemed odd but it was perfect. The dessert (brownie with ice cream) was good, but the main meal was better. The views of the beach from the restaurant were amazing, that area of the beach is one of better spots along the coast line. Beautiful! Excellent food combined with good service and views make this restaurant a must visit in south coast of Mombasa. One important note: you have to have a reservation to go in no matter the time of the day.

Very nice food and pina colada in a lovely setting (we went for lunch). Beware - mixed seafood platter is huge. Personally I think it would work better for 2 people to share (at least if you have European appetite!). At the very least I recommend skipping the starter if you're planning to order this.

It's a quite big place with 100+ seats and around 30 Sunbeds. A bit hard to find trough Google maps, since the road leading down from the main road didn't show on our map. The welcome was kind of overwhelming, the opposite of the carelessness that defines to many other restaurants. But this place might have taken the welcoming a bit to far for a " reserved" European heart. It became similar to a "beach boy attack". Anyway; the following service was great. Attentive, friendly and professional. A big thxs to our waiter Martin for that. Drinks where quickly served and followed up for refill. Unfortunately not cooled. The juice not being juice, but instead diluted and flavoured "limonade style". Unfortunately this is a common thing all over Kenya, but it still doesn't make it juice. And it tasted great. The food was priced in the higher end, but plentiful. Very plentiful. And well prepared. A few details lacking on perfection though, but definitely better than most other places we have visited in Malindi/Watamu area. The reason I give it 4 instead of 5 stars is that several menu options was missing. Foodwise based on what we got on the plate, it was closer to 5 than 4. All in all is the place is well maintained unlike to many other beach restaurants in the area. The views of the beach and the ocean are fabulous. Sadly enough, our impression of the clients was more like "let us get a sunbed" instead of "let us enjoy what the place have to offer". This might due to the dominating "full board hotels" around. Or it can simply be a misperception based on our experiences this particular day. The place is definitely more than a "sunbed rental". In total it is a place I absolutely will recommend. Well worth the 10 minutes drive out of Watamu town. And is suitable either as a nice two-some place, for a bigger group or a nice family day at the beach.

The view is out of this world. The staff are very friendly and make the visit an out of this world experience. The food was tastefully prepared. Easy down to earth and a home away from home.

We walked in at 12:15. It was empty. We asked two times for the menu but didn't not got the menu. So we ordered the drinks. The waiter told us he will ask what they have fresh in the kitchen. 20 min later he told us they have fish, calamari and octopus. So we ordered fish and calamari. One hour later the waiter told us that the fish is not good but when we all eat calamari he will bring the food in 10 minutes. One hour later I asked for the bill of the drinks cause we still got nothing to eat. Two minutes later he did bring the calamari. The where only 10 rings but with much of flour around. Hence, it tasted more like bread. The last surprise we got when we did pay. They changed us 1600 KES for 2 small cin tonic. You can buy a bottle cin in Kenya for less then 1500 KES. So to sum up: The food is not good The price are offending And the service is a catastrophy

We were 5 people staying in Shela, we didn’t stay at the Peponi Hotel but wish we had. As soon as we found the restaurant, we were so impressed, we returned several times for food and drinks. The food is exceptional and the service friendly, fun and professional. Highlights were the Spicy Thai Soup, the poke bowl and the fresh seafood pasta, the food was fresh and delicious. We highly recommend this restaurant!

Was here for my birthday dinner. Had the best birthday ever! The staff were so kind, the food was amazing, the ambiance was beautiful. A 10/10 experience.

This is the most beautiful place to chill out, eat great food, be looked after by fabulous staff and explore the island. Surrounded by sea. But I'm biased as this is my third visit.

Beware of the henna artist the hotel allows to operate on their premises. My girlfriend went to the toilet and the henna artist sneaked up on her to show her something, a henna tattoo on her hand. No price agreed before hand and a few minutes later she appears at our table harassing us for money. This left a bitter taste for a nice establishment.

The most peaceful, relaxing and enjoyable break I've had at the Kenyan Coast. The food was stunning, some of the best in Kenya let alone Lamu. Loved the eclectic vibe the terrace draws in during lunch and dinner. Service was friendly and discreet. Lovely rooms, lush grounds. Can't wait to come back!

We stayed three nights in a marvellous room with a gorgeous view over the channel. Service was excellent and the food was superb -- helpings were almost a bit too large. We had some of the finest Indian food we've ever had (the Swahili platter, they call it) and other menus. With its direct access to the beach and a swimming pool with overhanging baobab to sluice the salt off after a sea-swim, it was quite idyllic. When I left a couple of items in the room when we checked out they sent someone after us in a boat to return them. They couldn't have been more helpful. It was certainly pricey but was really good value.

I am a big believer that people make the place and the team at Peponi illustrates this point. As a solo traveler, sometimes it can be tricky to travel alone, but each day at Peponi was a warm and welcoming experience. I stayed over the Christmas holidays and ended up staying a week--I haven't stayed an entire week at the same hotel in years-I am SO glad I made that decision! My room was gorgeous, Mustafa, Carol, Kalia, and the entire team were a dream. The food is incredible, my room with the gorgeous view of the Indian Ocean was a treat, and the overall vibe of the place makes me want to return again and again. My two pieces of constructive feedback would be:I'd like to see more South African wine offerings by the glass and as someone starting menopause :) I might need a room with an air conditioner next time. The breeze was wonderful and the fan in the room did the job, but had it been warmer my sleep would've been less than ideal. I look forward to seeing your similing faces again. This was the first place where we had dinner in Watamu and I can urge everyone considering eating there to stay away! The food was really horrible, not sure how someone who prides himself to be Italian can mess up a simple pasta dish. I can say for certain that the sauce was ready made, without any fresh ingredients. The Lobster ravioli was similarly abysmal. We would also like to echo other reviewers who found the owner’s demeanor and attitude towards his staff shocking. In Watamu, an odd neo-colonial feeling is a constant companion, making it even more important for Caucasian business owners to be humble, respectful towards the local community and deploy an appreciative attitude towards customers- none of that was demonstrated by the white owner.

An absolute delight. My friend and I visited Watamu during the offseason and it was the liar’s club’s last day of the season. Everyone there were great to interact with, from the owner to the staff. They were all kind and friendly. The food was absolutely delicious. The food was worth the price. I hope I’ll get to visit again. I recommend to make a booking before going especially if it’s tourist season

During our stay in Watamu, we came here several times. Very attentive manager, great service, good food. Highly recommend Italian breakfast with Mango juice and pasta with Lobster. My boyfriend ordered ravioli with Lobster and I even don’t know which I liked more. Both meals were very good. And ofc amazing Aperol Spritz! Very nice place.

Like a lot of the other negative reviews of this place, I would really like to stress the awful way the white owner treats his staff. The Kenyan waiting staff (Nico in particular) were so lovely, but we were kind of revolted by the way the Italian owner spoke to (or shouted at) them. I think this is quite symptomatic of Italian owned restaurants on the east coast. I was given an enormous plate of pasta (150g by their admission), which tasted perfectly average but I couldn't finish it. The owner came over to me and kept on asking why I didn't finish it, which just made us feel really uncomfortable and (after the way he had spoken to staff) reluctant to say anything bad in case he started shouting at someone. A lot of people don't finish their meals, don't make people feel uncomfortable about it. Overall nice waiting staff, awkward experience.

Food 10/10, the lobster ravioli was amazing and thank you Irene for suggesting it. Well mixed cocktails and pretty nice place. BUT, the ambiance was quite off from the time I got there, the white boss kept shouting at the waiters, pointing hands towards me and just removing chairs and cutlery without even asking if I'm alone, or a hi (from who I suppose is the owner). Might be their normal temperament but when more clients came (from same Caucasian background) he got more joyful... So, do with that what you want. But it is otherwise a very cool place with good food, maybe think of the local black, non Italian speaking customer. Thank you again Irene.

Before I even start talking about the food I need to really give a big praise to the exceptional service! The waiters are polite and very attentive throughout your stay and fast and efficient. For the first time after a week in malindi me (Italian) and my wife (Kenyan) have been treated nicely and with respect! I was even afraid to come here after we had a VERY bad experience the day before at baby marrow restaurant but luckily this one is in another league. Also the food arrived at the right time and all was fresh and really good! My wife wanted to try some Italian food since we arrived here and so far for one reason or another we never succeeded! We will definitely go back to try something else apart from the pizzas we had this time. Thank you to the amazing staff once again.

Lovely outdoorsy Italian style cafe. They've got a little library of Italian books (history, romance, fiction, non-fiction, etc.) including a history of Spain '82! The waiters are nice and helpful and their portions are generous. Theres also a good alcohol collection for different tastes. There'll also be little birds to keep you company. Before coming, or when you are done, there'll be plenty else to do around the area - especially in the evening. Highly recommend it.

Their food is the best in malindi. Sea food platter and pizzas are very sweet. However they need to designate a smoking zone so that the place can be favourable for nonsmokers and children.

I went there with my baby, she had the kids bacon and egg pizza, she loved it. I had the chicken and bacon pizza, loved it as well. Their chocolate milkshake is good, highly recommend. The ambiance is that of soft music, the waiting staff are very friendly and ttentive. Overall, it was a great experience.

This is a truly excellent place, and I returned each night I spent in Malindi. One of the best pizzas I have had in a long time - I lived in Rome for four years - and a great tuna à la Siciliana. The cocktails are great value and extremely strong! Staff are extremely friendly and service is professional and efficient. This is generally rated as the best place to eat in Malindi, a reputation it fully deserves.

The menu is mostly Italian dishes, really well cooked, and the service is fast and flawless. The beach is beautiful too, with super comfy loungers and umbrellas. The only downside – though it’s not their fault – is the large number of persistent beach vendors, but the staff does a great job keeping them under control.

Has to be the best beach spot in Malindi. The location, the staff and the menu are well worth the visit. We visited this restaurant many times!!!

Rosada is definitely the place to be for a night out in Malindi. I've been going there for many years and they never dissapoints. Music is always spot on. Service is fantastic too. They make the most delicious pizza's!! During the day, it's very chilled and a perfect spot to work from overlooking the Indian ocean. This time round I was there for a work assignment and I must say I was well looked after. Had an amazing conversation with the owner who is passionate about her business. The food taste was brilliant (soups, risotto n the complimentary focaccia) dessert choices were exotic , the ambience n location are all excellent too the choices of food n dessert were amazing also the service was good.the only disappointment was in the billing when they billed extra for a mistake on the menu or the waiter ( explanation of the waiter was not clear) for one of the liqueur based dessert which mentioned to include the coffee icecream + liqueur while the price showed 400 we were charged 350 for ice cream n 400 for the sambuca.

Beautiful and delicious Italian restaurant just out of central Malindi. I had the Mediterranean pizza and it was wonderful and filling. They also have craft beer here on draught! Prices are a bit on the expensive side, but still reasonable given the quality of the food and experience. Would definitely come back!

Bad service, food is ok not great but ambiance is great (suitable for a date). For outside seating there are two areas: one with benches and another one with proper tables, linen, lights etc. I asked to sit in the nice area but I was told it’s fully booked. I counted six empty tables. I sat at the benches and thought nothing of it. After I ordered a seafood platter I was told that there’s an empty seat in the nice area. I felt bad when I realized that those tables were never filled. I counted nine empty tables as I finished my food (see pictures below). Despite the awkward treatment I enjoyed my meal. The shrimps and calamari are great but the lobster and fish not so great. The lobster is chewy which means it was either frozen or not well cooked. The ice cream is not great either. There are other options for dessert that looks better. I paid around 30$ for the seafood platter which I think is overpriced. I would pay less in Rome. All in all the ambiance is worth it but there are many other options for food. The manager is super nice tho as he helped me find change and WiFi

Wow... We came for a late lunch/dinner as a group of 16 people... Despite reservations the kind Italian Lady in charge made an extended table possible and our orders were cooked to perfection... The Staff didn't match her willingness to serve but they were available and kind enough... The food was accompanied by live music and my night has been made... Ps. Love the attention to detail... The place has incredible serenity. The menu isn't very diversified but they have amazing Italian desserts. I had a great time.... My lil bro loved the ice cream 😉 😉.

We had 2 pizza’s here, one with anchovies and one with fish. Both were a bit too thick and dense and both way too salty. Service was good though and the place was clean. The owner (I think) came and started smoking and video-calling right next to our table, which was a bit intrusive. All in all an ok experience, but probably best to keep away from the fishy pizza’s.

Italian restaurant. Service was very good and fast, owner keeps serious attention to this which is appreciated. Carpaccio was really delicious, focaccia was awesome as well(they have the real stone oven there). Prawns cocktail was OK, but nothing special, easy meal, prawns are small, carpaccio was much more enjoyable. The tuna main course was good, 3 big chops of the fresh tuna, good and big meal. Pizza was taken to go, and actually it was nothing special, we tried much better in Kenya (other Italian restaurant). It supposed to be the seafood (tuna, shrimps, squid), however it was mostly tuna pieces there.. House wine (Italian) was very good, with a reasonable price. Overall, it is a nice Italian restaurant to spend a time for a quality dinner.

Came by in the middle of the afternoon for a late lunch. We ate beautifully arranged caprese, accompanied by focaccia, very tasty Carbonara and home-made gnocchi. Spacious terrace with a glimpse of the sea. Would highly recommend.

I've been here many times the past years. This will most likely be my last visit. Everything has changed here as far as customer service. For the price you pay one would think you would be greeted with a smile at least. That is not the case anymore. All the servers appear to hate their jobs or hate being here at least. The bartender is the only person who appears to know what's on the menu. The food portion has gotten very small. Definitely the portion don't fit the price. Maybe there needs to be a major change in management and training for the employees. I ordered the seafood starter it was very salty and over cooked. My wife ordered chicken wings which were very small. No one bothered to check or ask if we needed anything else or how was everything, or how was the food. They never returned to our table once despite us wanting to order drinks. Finally , we gave up even trying to get someone's attention. Now I can clearly see why on a Friday night it was not crowded at all compared to former years. Disappointed and Highly Shocked Havana.

I have eaten at this establishment a couple of times so I am convinced that good service here is wanting. They seem complacent that they will always have people come to eat so why bother being efficient. Food quality is average. Atmosphere is okay but important to note for non smokers; is that smoking in the open air restaurant is allowed so you might have smoke drifting your way while you’re taking your meals.

I've never had better pancakes with ice cream and syrup. The only downside is that they allow smoking there, so those who don't smoke or those with children might not like it there.

Nautilus was very good! Had lunch here with some colleagues. For a starter we had a platter of grilled oysters. These were really good, soft, tasty and buttery. Mains, we had three different kinds of prawns. Sauces were all good. Prawns were huge in size, with a great bite. So many accompaniments, and all of them so tasty 😋🤤! The personell was also very kind. And the ambience, superb!

With the roads being fixed its quite a long drive from mombasa longer than it normally takes , the setting is very simple but with an amazing view . Ordered the baked oysters which was a steal for 24 oysters very well cooked . For mains was a pasta and fish dish both dishes were very well cooked . Prices are quite reasonable for the great quality of food . All in all great place for a weekend afternoon

First of all. This is not a child friendly restaurant. Secondly, their service is so bad. The waiters there are rude and hurry you to order food before ordering drinks. Our food took a whole hour and a half. The drinks came after the food. Because we were a big group, we could not mobilize the whole group to find another restaurant. This was very disappointing considering the food was actually good as per the responses. Lastly. There is a lot of noticeable favouritism towards the Caucasian guests who came after all black guests and were served before us and left before we even got our food.. To the point that other guests who had reserved tables argued their case and left very upset. If you'd like to try their food, go for it but don't expect anything more. Look for another place and get the most of your money.

Reservation process was quick, host was very accommodating. The restaurant itself is simply charming, the portions are generous, the waiters very attentive, the host is incredibly sweet and personable. Checking on everyone.

The restaurant looks nice, a bit dark, you might call it romantic. Staff is nice and accomodating. It is ofcourse a risk going to seafood restaurant depending on fresh catch if the food of choice is available. Howe ver, not having any shrimps or prawns available is a bit dissappointing. We ended up with pasta with shrimps and crab meat for the kids, which was the only available shrimp option. Main courses for two adults were meat dishes due to lack of seafood options. Taste of the gravy as ok, but the meat was rather plain, what to expect from a restaurant next to the sea. Just as side remark, there was no running water in the toilet and the bucket to be used as backup was empty. It might well be the policy to fill you own bucket in the sea.

Food service was very poor. A two-tiered system for favoured customers, primarily Italians rather than locals or other foreigners, in terms of complementary bread and other aspects of waiter service. Some of the dishes were good such as the ravioli and pasta; nevertheless, the steak seems to be imported from Nairobi and is not of the highest quality. We had an issue over the quality of one of the steaks. When I raised this, the staff, chef, and eventually the owner became very confrontational. If you choose the right dishes this could be a place for you, but the terrible service lets this restaurant down.

Had a few great meals at Makuti. We had a special birthday dinner there with our family and the staff made it very special by singing to the birthday boy.

I wish there was zero stars. I was served Ossobuco that wasn't even the ossobuco we know. To make the matter worse it was stale 😩 gross 🤢. I had to ask the waitress to confirm, she said it's true the food wasn't fresh. I mean , why serve something that could cause food poisoning 🙃 I'm never going back and if you love your life then stay away from this madness of a restaurant.

We ordered a “half meter pizza” expecting to get a large pizza for two. The price of it was twice the price of a normal pizza and really expensive for Kenya. We got so desappointed when we got a not round pizza but a thin rectanglar. It was definitly 50cm of length but the width was so thin that it was barely bigger than a normal pizza. My advice : don’t go!

Went here with friends and wanted to eat Kenyan food. There were no vegetarian options so I asked the waitress if the kitchen could prepare me a curry with vegetables and they said yes. What I got was some soggy tasteless kale with plain white rice. No sauce. Just kale and rice. It was the saddest and the worst dish I have ever had. So of course after not eating it I complained and asked for a discount. They tried to charge me 500 at first, whereafter it turned to 350. However, they increased the price of water with 50 at the same time, which made me feel like this place is a total ripoff. Don't go there.

Very tasty pizza and raviolli, the owner is always on the places and puts the arms on the pulse controlling the processes, the result of his work tastes in an amazing food.

Ok food, no credit card option, no airflow in the outside seating area. Positives: polite servers and it seems like as authentic an Italian restaurant as you’d expect to find in Diani, with the owner sitting at his permanent table sharing a drink with one of his buddies from the old country. Negatives: no airflow through the seating area, cannot pay by credit card - maybe not any cards because the reason given was ‘no machine’, lots of noise from the road, holes in the table cloths. Average food. Going in it felt like we were entering an Italian oven. The yellowish semi-transparent tarps which serve as the roof bathe the dining area in a sweat inducing ambient warm orange light. Combined with the fact that only half the fans were working, it made for a rather tiring experience. The side facing the road is all open while the more quiet ends of the seating area were covered by a very tight lattice with small holes which didn’t let much air pass. We also learned that pepperoni in Italian means green pepper - not the typical slightly spicy sliced sausage which normally adorns a classic pepperoni pizza 🍕. When they brought the green pepper pizza there was some confusing discussion about what the problem was before then took it way and added the pepperonis we expected to see. (I’ve since read up on this and this must be a problem at every Italian restaurant around the world. Probably worth a note in the menu to avoid further confusion. I was surprised to find out I couldn’t pay by credit card. Just had enough cash and mPesa to cover the bill 😬

Some of the best pizza we've had in a long time! This place was recommended to us by a local and it did not disappoint. The owner greeted us when we arrived and our server was fantastic. They're open late which is great because it can be tricky to find somewhere with the kitchen open later in the evenings.

Beautiful views across the lake from either the table seating or terraces make this spot great for sunsets, plus a fabulous range of cocktails and light bites. Sadly they'd run out of prawns the night we visited, but the crab tacos were fresh, zingy and delicious! My daughter tried the tuna tartare and sticky pork ribs with potato wedges (they were so good, the ones she couldn't finish came home). The staff were friendly and were happy to accommodate any requests - would love to go again to try the prawns!

The food is absolutely outstanding! Prob one of the best we have had in watamu. We had the prawns, the chili paneer, the butter paneer. Was soooo good! And the wait staff are Soo nicee! And the ambiance is amazing! We are surely coming back here again and again!

We had a really fantastic lunch here. The atmosphere is beautiful and I can imagine sunset is just dreamy with the fairy lights! Can highly recommend the crab tacos, they were a real treat

We had a very good dinner at Pilipan; good curries and nice cocktails. Unfortunately, there was heavy rain at the time so could not appreciate he views!

A beautiful restaurant by the beach, clean and beautifully decorated. The food options are very good,the ala carte menu had many sea food options as well and all was tasty. The portions were a bit small for the price .Service was impeccable the staff were so kind and helpful

Great atmosphere, we didn’t have a booking but staff were very accommodating, I imagine in busy season you need a res. Prawn linguine was stand out dish. Crab linguine also great (pictured). My friends got the prawn curry, have had better prawn curries in Kenya but still nice. Overall a lovely evening.

We loved the food. We were here with a group of 15. All the food came at the same time, just like the drinks and there is a great variety of food. Emanuel is a great host - thank you for the lovely experience!

It’s recommended to make reservations in advance. We tried the Zataar Squid and the Swahili Prawn Curry, both of which were excellent. The Sticky Toffee Pudding was a personal 10/10. A lovely beachfront spot—just be sure to book ahead, as it’s often fully booked.

The staff was very welcoming and friendly and helpful. I sat close to the beach and I was able to enjoy great views. The food was great. I had fish fillet with a delicious mango salad and I also enjoyed a chilli mango margarita.

My favorite place of all the 10 restaurants I have checked at Diani Beach. Top food. Healthy. Good prices. Only little downside is the wine selection. Unfortunately all Diani restaurants seem to buy from the same supplier who seems to be not very experianced.

Anchor offers a great mix of Kenyan and Indian cuisine, with fresh, flavorful dishes and a solid vegetarian selection. The setting is peaceful, right by the Indian Ocean, and the service is friendly. Probably the best place I tried while here—worth a visit.

Best food we had in Diani! We stayed at their resort for 7 nights and had majority of our meals here. We loved every meal, service is amazing, lots of variety and they do it all well! Must visit on your trip to Diani. Highlights: salt and pepper squid (had it multiple times, stilling thinking about it), prawn curry, lobster, fish tacos, aglio e olio spaghetti (add prawns), chapati wraps, oysters, I could go on and on. Don’t think you could order anything wrong but these are what we had multiple times.

A lovely experience with my sisters and I at Anchor. Beautiful place, great services, the food was immaculate!. By far the best restaurant in Diani. The sea view and seeing the full moon was like a cherry on top to our experience. Everything was just on point and professional. Reservation is a must.

This beautiful hidden gem in Mombasa is a must visit! The best Italian food I’ve had in a long time Note timings : only breakfast and lunch - no dinner - 4.30 pm restaurant closes so plan accordingly The entry to this restaurant is via Jumba ruins , if you do not wish to visit the ruins , at the counter ask to be sent to restaurant directly and they will guide you , no need to pay entry to the ruins. We couldn't have chosen a better place to enjoy a load of delicious seafood at a reasonable price. The views of the ocean are stunning and pair perfectly with the great food. Just be aware that the restaurant is only open for lunch (opening hours of the ruins). Thank you for the great reception.

Is a uique atmosphere! Directly on te beach, at side of ancient historical Arab/Swahili site, the Monsoons Restaurant is pearl for divine foods, fresh lobsters and cold Prosecco wine! Don't forgot to drink the white wine produced them self from Mr Attilio and Madame Aziza' s grapes plantation!

The beach is beautiful and the breeze from the water makes this lovely restaurant a blissful escape. It’s a place that feels like home and a vacation all at the same time. For me, this is the best restaurant i know of. I've been working with food, in several continents, for 40 years. And Monsoon have been my favourite since the first bite. It's not fancy. It's not fine dining. It's not snobby in any way. It's simply great food, without fancy techniques and presentations. Great ingredients, prepared to the ultimate perfection. The opposite of cheap ingredients with glamorous presentation, as you get in Kempinsky and others. The atmosphere is very friendly and totally relaxed. With a great scenery and view of the beach and ocean. A bumpy road is immediately forgotten when you get there. And some minutes walk trough the Jumba ruins is a nice experience on top of it all. I highly recommend Monsoon. Either it's for a family dinner, a romantic lunch date, or if you're simply just a lover of great food.

A treasure to find this wonderfull restaurant the food was excellent and the view of the Indian Ocean of course the King Prawns were fresh and sublime, starters were huge and the catch if the day was perfectly cooked, the service was also above and beyond , I would recommend you search it out even if there is a long bumpy road. I am a local... I use to eat here almost every Sunday... but its my first time for a while and the standard has dropped to an all time low... the steak I had was half the size and the spare ribbs my lady had went home to the dog.... they were so hard... the chef uses the hard skin from the cucumber on the salads...so pick that off and put it in the bin like we do at home... was a real disappointment... 1000ksh for a 230ksh carton of juice....out of their tiny minds... its no longer a place to eat but still a lovely place to have a drink in a beautiful setting....The table clothe had a 3 inch by 3 inch tear in it... right on top ...what standards are these.... they are very low standards...no one cares...poor show

My visit to La marina was frustrating and disappointing. Despite arriving on time, we waited over three hours, and our food was never served. Worse, there was no explanation or attempt to resolve the situation from the staff. What made it even more upsetting was the noticeable difference in service. White patrons were attended to promptly, while we were ignored. No amount of ambiance can make up for such poor treatment. I cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking fair and respectful service.

Calm and beautiful. Perfect place to have a drink and watch the sunset. The prices were good and they had a great variety of drinks on the menu.

Otherwise the atmosphere and the service were excellent. My man and I visited here on a late Sunday morning. He had a salad and black coffee. The coffee was brewed to excellence. The salad was soo fresh and so my man had a lovely time. I on the other hand ordered a hazelnut milkshake and chocolate cake with vanilla ice-cream. The shake looks good until you taste it and it was like brookside flavoured milk. And they didn't have the cake. So I left disappointed. That's why we give it a 4 ⭐.

Went to the Blue Marlin for a birthday dinner. The seafood dishes were exceptional—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The ribs were really good too. It was a wonderful experience with great food, drinks, and amazing service. Highly recommend for a special occasion! The best restaurant we visited during our time in Diani.

I came here few times 7 years ago, and now again! The same delicious sea food, absolutely tasty, I love the view as you’re right by the water, so even on warm days, there is always a breeze there… one down side is they’re very slow with preparing the food, it took one hour to get the food

We had breakfast, lunch and dinner every day for 5 days as the food there was much better than any other place around - choice, quality, variety. The service was prompt and friendly. Cannot recommend enough

Had lunch at Blue Marlin and absolutely loved it. The king prawns pilipili with coconut rice were so tasty and the portion was really generous. I had their house rosé (Frontera from Chile) — so refreshing on a hot day and finished off with an Aperol Spritz that was perfectly balanced. Fresh, delicious seafood at an affordable price! Absolutely loved it. Service was great too. Only complaint is too many flies, perhaps a solution can be identified to reduce the flies but otherwise great and will definitely be back!

Found this place among recommended price-friendly at TripAdvisor. When we got there for lunch (2pm) we were the only customers (it felt a bit awkward in the beginning). However we received a warm service from the owner. He informed that some positions in the menu were not available, and made a recommendation. We ended up ordering Seafood plate of 4: octopus, crab, prawn and lobster + additional grilled prawns that go with rice and potatoes (not on the photo). As a complement, chef offered us fresh vegetables salad. Overall food was delicious and sufficient for the group of 3! Our bill was 4200 (seafood platter of 4, grilled prawns and 2 beers) Strongly recommend this place for a Seafood lovers!

We had dinner here in the evening, the taffi fish and grilled calamari rings with rice and an orange sauce. The taste and the price were great! However, a few hours later we both became terribly ill. In the end, we went to a hospital and it turned out we had a bacterial stomach/intestinal infection. For us, that means never eating at this place again.

Worst food experience of my trip in Kenya! I was on my way to the Colobus Center and I decided to eat here. The terrace was cosy, the waiter nice and the beer cold. But then everything started going wrong. Out of the whole menu they only had one type of fish with rice or potatoes. No curries, no tuna, no octopus, no calamari… Really? I should have left but I ordered the fish. After waiting for almost an hour I got a small grilled fish and some sticky white rice with a tasteless sauce. The food was cold, my beer warm, and I left totally disappointed. A place to avoid at all costs. Diani is full of places way better than Colobus Shade

This place has the best grilled seafood platter in Diani. It may not be fancy but the chef is amazing and the food is fresh and affordable. We really enjoyed this place. You can call and order in advance before you get there.
