We were greeted by a lovely and very helpful lady at the ticket desk and really enjoyed our visit which lasted about 1.5 hours. There is so much to see that we'll certainly be going back again. So interesting to see how people lived so long ago and as time passes I'm sure this wonderful attraction will interest people even more than it does already. My family nor I realized that bookings were needed in order to eat here, and we were in a group of 5, so we figured upon entering that we'd have to leave, however the lady serving us was beyond lovely, saying that one table wasn't due to be used until 6pm, and so we could use that to eat: hospitality like this, from my experiences in cafes + restaurants around Devon, can be hard to find, however the staff here truly exceeded expectations, being so kind and welcoming despite the fact that we had made no reservation. The fish (a small cod, everyone in the party ordered the same) was so wonderfully flavorful and soft, and the chips were clearly freshly made and tasted amazing, not to mention that the staff multiple times approached to ask us if we wanted any more chips: having the option to have more chips, if the original portion isn't enough, is incredibly lovely, and we were all beyond grateful for the offer, however chose not to have more, as we figured the portions already on our plate were enough for our needs. I'll definitely be returning if we choose to come to Devon again, as the environment was lovely, the staff were so incredibly kind, and the food was exactly what we needed after a long day out in the sun.

We did not need to use the endless chips facility the owner supplies because there were ample chips already on the plate. You wait while the food is cooked fresh and my it is well worth the wait, everything was absolutely spot on. The fish is crispy, in non greasy home made batter, and succulent while the chips are fantastic, the salad was also high quality. The owners and staff here were brilliant people too. We decided to try the take away after a few days rest, this time as we were not as hungry but just greedy to retry this superb place so we had a home made fishcake with chips and shared this sat outside on the bench. You do have to wait while everything is cooked fresh and as stated for eating inside the restaurant it is well worth the wait. Again the chips were excellent and the fishcake really has to be tried to be believed. The homemade breadcrumb coating is a real compliment to the delicious interior of succulent tasty fish. I cannot recommend this place highly enough the food could not have been better well done to everyone involved here an absolute gem.

I visited Paignton on the Friday 24th of October and came across this lovely fish and chip shop by chance — and I’m so glad I did called the Ocean Wild Fish Bar ! I tried the chips, and they were absolutely delicious — they reminded me of how fish and chips used to taste years ago when they were traditionally cooked in beef fat. The chips had a lovely crunch, a distinct flavour, and weren’t greasy at all. It was the first time in a long while that I’ve enjoyed chips without feeling heavy or bloated afterwards. It’s great to see a fish and chip shop using beef fat instead of the usual processed oils — you can really taste the difference in quality. The ladies working behind the counter on Friday were also really friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. I didn’t have time to order the fish because I had to catch my train, but I’ll definitely be back next time I visit Paignton to try it! Having stayed at The 25 before, we knew what to expect and we certainly weren’t disappointed. Everything was perfect from the moment we arrived to the time we sadly had to leave. The 25 is owned and run by Andy and Julian who completely redesigned and refurbished the B&B, transforming it into a truly memorable and unique place to stay over 10 years ago. The 25 has consistently been recognised for the quality and standards provided and has received countless prestigious awards, all completely well deserved and justifiable. We were welcomed by Andy and given the key to our room on the first floor, Broadsands - all the rooms are named after local areas or beaches. Each is individually designed, with en-suite bathrooms, and equipped with the most up to date technology, including air conditioning, HD televisions (there is even one over the bath in the en-suite), mood lighting, WiFi, Nespresso coffee machine, minibar, and many other facilities which would take far too much room to mention! Needless to say, Andy and Julian have thought of everything a guest may need. The room was large, spotlessly clean and exquisitely decorated with a super king bed and beautiful white linen bedding. The en-suite had ‘his & hers’ sinks, a large walk-in shower and a roll top bath. As you would expect, the complimentary toiletries were of the highest quality. After settling in to our room and unpacking, we went downstairs to the lounge where Andy provided us with refreshments; my wife had a pot of tea whilst I had a glass of red wine and we both had a piece of Andy’s home made chocolate brownie, which was to die for! After a good night’s sleep we went down to breakfast which, needless to say, was exceptional. There was an extensive buffet with home-made smoothie shots and yogurts, together with fresh fruit juice, a wide selection of cereals, nuts and grains and jars of freshly prepared berries. This was complimented by a wide selection of hot dishes all cooked to order. I could easily continue to wax lyrical about the many aspects of our stay that contributed to our memorable experience at The 25. Andy and Julian have built an amazing business that they can be justifiably proud of. They are outstanding hosts who welcome guests (many of whom become friends and regularly return) into their home. The countless awards that are on display are testament to the exceptional quality and standards, which are second to none. The 25 is a true hidden gem and we look forward to returning very soon.
