Paignton Zoo Environmental Park, located in Devon, is a thrilling visitor attraction spread across 80 acres. It houses over 2,500 animals from various habitats such as the savannah, wetlands, and tropical forests. Visitors can get up close to rare species and learn about the zoo's conservation efforts. The park offers a unique Jungle Express train ride and play areas for children. It's an ideal destination for families to spend an entire day exploring and experiencing wildlife wonders from around the world.
Me and my family really enjoyed our day here. Definitely enough animals to make a day out for the family. My kids loved the seeing all the animals but the giraffes, crocodiles and monkey's definitely stood out for us. Maps need updating for toilets as we found some in a different area than listed. Enjoyed the play areas, food areas and a little win a teddy section. Also enjoyed a lovely icecream. Would recommend!

Visited here midweek during the late August bank holiday break in Paignton. We booked in advanced and got a slight discount was around £60 odd pounds for a family of 4 (2 adults, 2 children). The site is huge and is a lot of up and down hill so wear comfortable shoes and prepare to walk. There are loads of animals, cafes, play areas for kids to enjoy and they really had a blast. We were tired by the end but was a great family day out, would recommend you visit here if you in or near to Paignton.
David K — Google review
A great zoo with a large verity of animals a few of which wasn’t out for you to see but it wasn’t a massive issue. You can see some of the animals quite close up like the orangutans, lions, cheetahs, baboons etc. There is a lot of inclines if you’re someone with mobility issues you may struggle but it is well worth the money you pay to get in. There is a lot of tree coverage so you’re not baking in the sun while walking around. Would definitely recommend
Amie P — Google review
Amazing zoo with fantastic staff. My 2 daughters ages 8 and 13 recently had a junior zoo keeper experience and they loved every minute of it. Jake, their experience guide was extremely knowledgeable, patient, kind and kept the girls engrossed for hours! Thank you Jake for a wonderful experience for the whole family!
Claire M — Google review
We went on a cold damp drizzly day, so some animals weren't outside to see. Im disabled on a mobility scooter. Most of the park is accessible and robust scooters can be hired at the zoo. We were given a map and advised on the best route for mobility scooters. We ate food in the resaraunt. Food was good quality. The only fault was tables weren't cleaned so quickly so hard finding a clean table. We only had half a day here, so we zoomed round. On a nicer day and a leisurely stroll round, you coukd easily spend a whole day here. Animals get fed at certain times, so if you wish to see this, ask at entrance the timings, then you can adjust your route accordingly. We were particularly fascinated with the sloths. Never seen one in real life before, they are fun to watch. I would reccomend a visit, help support this lovely zoo to stay open.
Kelly H — Google review
A great day out, just enough to cover in an afternoon, with not too far between each area. A lovely range of animals of all kinds with good size enclosures for them. Lots of information available at each area. Food and drink onsite is great with a number of choices available. We stopped into the cafe area as the other ones around the zoo are closed out of high season.
Michelle F — Google review
We visited the zoo for my son’s 9th birthday and for an extra special treat we had arranged for him and his sister to do the giant tortoise experience. The zoo is clean and generally well maintained and the animals all seem content and we’re all out and about today. Their enclosures are natural and spacious with plenty of enrichment provided. The giant tortoise experience was great! My son loves them and wants to be a zoo keeper, so this was the perfect birthday treat! The keeper who led the experience, Jake, was brilliant! He was patient and relaxed and easy to talk to, he answered all the questions we had and provided lots of information to the children about the tortoises and the other animals he cares for. He was friendly and polite and really helped make the experience memorable, fun and informative, thank you! All the staff today were so helpful, from Jake to the welcoming staff at the entrance and even the staff in the restaurants and takeaway huts were great! We had a great day and my son said it’s been his best birthday yet, we love Paignton zoo anyway and have been many times before but today was really special, thank you!
Mark B — Google review
The zoo is very large and it's easy to get lost, so I recommend bringing a pen to mark your location on the map you get at the entrance. Sometimes you need to spend more time seeing a particular animal because they're hidden in the bushes or in their huts. The terrain varies, and you often have to walk up or down a hill, so you'll have to take a few steps here, which I think is a plus. There are a lot of animals, but not all of them are necessarily 100% different. 😀😀

Paignton Pier is a classic British seaside attraction that has been welcoming visitors since 1879. This family-friendly entertainment complex offers a variety of activities, including tenpin bowling, fairground rides, crazy golf, and a cafe. The pier features traditional amusement arcades with games for all ages and even has a Jurassic Park themed crazy golf course. Visitors can enjoy stunning views along the seafront during the day and experience the pier's neon lights reflected in the water at night.
The pier is quite long but it's all covered with games and fun. It all looks nice, but everything is old and not everything works or doesn't accept money. There's a nice golf course at the end of the pier. There are also takeaways here. You can always come and have fun with your family.😀😀😀
ThisIsMexD — Google review
The pier itself is lovely and the views off the end are well worth the walk. My issue was with the arcades,it was quite obvious that the games are all rigged not to pay out. I've never played a 2p machine that literally didn't drop a single coin. It's a real shame because the place is well looked after and could easily be a nice place to spend an hour if they weren't cheating people.
Paul O — Google review
Very clean and tidy pier all the kiosks and children's rides looked new! The 2p arcade was fun and again very clean. At the end of the pier is a crazy golf Jurassic Park with dinosaurs. Great fun for all the family and great photo opportunities.
Sue R — Google review
The arcade is exceptional - some real exclusive games and the ticket grabbing is fun with decent prizes. Some machines you've probably not seen before. And in good state of repair - how many arcades have broken machines? Exactly, these are proper with plenty of staff to help out if tickets get jammed.
Andrew P — Google review
It was one of the best piers we've been on. There was so much for families to do same applied to paignton, we really enjoyed our visit.from the moment we stepped on the pier there were food kiosks then game stalls and amusements up to you get to a crazy golf at the e d, non stop fun for the kids, non stop pay out for mum and dad but if you get a bad day it's really good
Jane A — Google review
This is such a lovely retro day out. We spent several hours here. So many lovely retro games. The payout machines are definitely rigged (claw machines, 2p machines etc), but this is expected. We have fun on them regardless. There are lots of lovely photo opportunities, and the view is quite beautiful at the end of the pier. We didn't play the golf but it looked like fun. They have the traditional carnival snacks as well which is nice. We will definitely come again.
Lisa P — Google review
Nice pier, with lots of Amusements and a mini golf course at the end. Watch out for the dinos though. Great views of the bay and beach.
David S — Google review
Lovey pier to visit, great for kids and big adults alike. Free to go on. Your usual penny arcades, with a crazy golf course at the end. You are able to walk to the end of the pier without any problems.

Cockington Court is a well-preserved manor house and estate from the 16th century, located in the charming village of Cockington. The grand architecture and manicured grounds offer a glimpse into the opulent lives of its former inhabitants. Visitors can explore art galleries, workshops, and cafes within the court's craft studios. Additionally, there are opportunities to witness glassblowing, blacksmithing, and chocolate making.
Lovely peaceful walk and picnic spot away from the buzz of the beach. There is a nice tea shop selling ice cream and cakes. There are plenty of benches and seating areas.

We got married in this gorgeous place, grounds are stunning and the staff are wonderful. Highly recommend a visit, lovely café and unique little shops in the grounds along with lovely walks to the ponds .
Sarah V — Google review
We visit this lovely area caught in time with it's thatched cottages often, and I would recommend you take a look. It has chocolate box charm. Interesting walks where we spotted a kingfisher bird. Places to eat, and craft shops with people working in them, so it makes it interesting.A beautiful rose garden to sit and relax inside, as it has a walled garden.
Helen G — Google review
Beautiful grounds, the wedding area we were in needed some works doing to tidy it up a bit. But it was a lovely ceremony and great location for photos if the weather allows
Charlotte W — Google review
Absolutely gorgeous place, set within a beautiful country park, walkable from Torquay sea front. Lots to see and do with lovely craft shops and demonstrations and plenty of eating facilities.
Michelle A — Google review
An interesting place with a number of arts and crafts type outlets, unfortunately many closed during our visit. The grounds are very well kept and a joy to walk around, the church is worth a visit also.
Alan A — Google review
Loved our visit here. Beautiful grounds, teas rooms, pub, cafe and manor house. Craft shops are worth a visit especially the glass blowing studio. Lots of pay and display parking. No entrance fee.
Jane S — Google review
Beautiful setting with very well kept grounds. Wonderful specimen trees, especially the magnolias at this time of year. There was a fantastic sense of the history of the place. A choice of places for refreshments, although we didn't try any this time. The number of craft outlets seemed reduced and it was a shame the toilets in the car park were locked so there were only facilities for customers of the eating establishments

Pub
Nestled in the charming village of Cockington, The Drum Inn is a historic country pub and restaurant exuding rustic charm. Originally designed by renowned architect Sir Edwin Lutyens in 1936, the pub has recently undergone a million-pound restoration project to preserve its traditional allure. With a thatched roof, dark wood panelled floors, and picturesque gardens, The Drum offers a delightful setting to savor hearty pub classics and seasonal dishes from an inventive menu.
We came here two years ago and loved it, so we had to come back again when we were in the area and the place was just as good if not better than we remembered. We came early evening and were seated straight away. The food was amazing, and the service was great too especially Emily who looked after us for the evening. Definitely recommend coming here!
Jannah C — Google review
We stay in cockington village and call in to the Drum Inn for a drink after a long dog walk. The staff are always friendly and get to know their regulars. They are dog friendly and have a drinking area outside for dogs as well as a doggy station inside with treats, water and blankets.
Rachael L — Google review
Friday my husband and I got married at Cockington Court and we hired the dining room at The Drum Inn for around 40 people. We can’t tell you how happy we are with the staff here. They did just an amazing job catering for such a large party. Everyone loved the food. We brought our own decorations which was placed out beautifully for us when we arrived. Thank you again for everyone at The Drum Inn for helping make our day so special. We would definitely recommend to anyone getting married in Cockington to look at having their reception here.
Giorgia H — Google review
Stunning pub in the middle of nowhere, with wonderful food, huge outdoor seating area to soak in the sun and a unique water station for dogs called ‘Scooby Brew’. The mains (beef rib bourguignon and slow-cooked pork belly) were very tasty and filling, but there was just enough room for a delicious mango & passion fruit pavlova dessert. The staff were friendly, accommodating and looked after us, absolutely no problem there. The pub really is a hidden gem with plenty of beautiful walks around, definitely worth exploring after a lovely meal!
Alex B — Google review
I had a burger here and it wasn't great, which i would expect for this price (almost £20), it came very 'well done', dry and bit tasteless as they don't ask how you'd like it done. Only the bacon and bbq sauce were very good. On the other hand I really liked the atmosphere and staff were very friendly and polite.
Magdalena — Google review
Like the Lidl/Aldi ad where they served the food and asked the guests to pay what they thought it was worth and then told them it was all from Aldi, or was it Lidl? Chips weren’t freshly cooked. Vegan burger was good. Nice place, pleasant staff, lovely location but food wasn’t good. Forgot to take photos of mains, apologies
Nici S — Google review
Excellent service and food good in a cosy pub. Lamb skewer was rather fatty, and not really cooked enough because of this. However would definitely return.

Jingles is a popular Tex Mex restaurant in Torbay, known for its lively atmosphere and mouth-watering menu featuring dishes from around the world. The themed dining room immerses diners in Central American vibes, while the eclectic mix of colors and decor creates a playful and vibrant setting. Whether it's savoring Fajitas or indulging in Moroccan Stuffed Peppers, there's something to please every palate.
A little piece of Mexico dropped into Paignton. The onion rings were moreish. The pulled pork taco bowl was exceptionally tasty and packed full of healthy goodness. The enchiladas were very tasty and came with a wonderfully fresh dressed salad. Same with the coleslaw - perfect balance of flavours (not too mayo-y). Just visiting but if I lived here, I wouldn't cook, and just eat here all the time. 😋 Highly recommend.

We definitely will be back! Atmosphere is great. And staff friendly and easy to talk to. The sizzling beef! Extraordinary!!!

Fine dining restaurant
Restaurant
Nestled by the yacht club and marina, The Elephant Restaurant is a culinary gem that offers two distinct dining experiences. On the ground floor, you’ll find a relaxed brasserie atmosphere where you can savor wholesome dishes crafted from locally sourced ingredients. For those seeking something more refined, head upstairs to the Michelin-starred dining room, where an exquisite tasting menu awaits. Here, seafood fresh from the English Channel takes center stage alongside carefully selected wines that elevate each dish.
Came here for a birthday meal with my 10 year old son. What an amazing experience. The food was out of this world. We had the set lunch. And what amazing value that is. The flavours are unreal. The restaurant has a really nice atmosphere and the service is second to none. The staff are so friendly and helpful and make the whole experience really worthwhile. I've wanted to come here for 20 years and now I have and it didn't disappoint. I can't wait to come back again.

Had the lunchtime tasting menu. Superb value for money and some really good cooking. The stand-out dish for me was the makeral tartar. If I were to make any comment on the food, it would be that the stone bass lacked an acidic component. The service was good and attentive without being obsequious.
Rupert F — Google review
Was quiet for a Saturday afternoon which wasn’t a bad thing. Food fantastic service brilliant decor lovely. We had the tasting menu which was great. If you are in Torquay EAT HERE. We will be back.

As you'd the food was excellent at this Michelin Star restaurant. We had the tasting menu which didn't disappoint. We selected our own wine which was delicious, a New Zealand sauvignon blanc. The seating and decor is well done and stimulated a good conversation at our table. The restaurant service was excellent and staff friendly, apart from the front of house person who was not very welcoming.
Mark P — Google review
Visit for my birthday treat. We were greeted beautifully and offered a window table. Window was open but the offered to close it if we were cold. We were offered choices of water on the table. We opted for tap water. I was surprised at the lack of alcohol free wines (just 2) and no mocktails listed on the drinks menus. The maitre'd had good knowledge of the menu. The food was excellent and couldn't be faulted. However, we were let down by our server. They simply announced the dishes as "peach" or "Octopus" etc which was a bit disappointing when we heard everyone else's meals being delivered. Additionally they mixed up the additions to our meals which didn't matter to us as we shared them but it potentially might have been a problem if anyone had an allergy. The Creme Brulee was Spectacular!
Stephanie K — Google review
Best meal in Torquay. Not every dish was a homerun, but they were all good. The service was excellent
Ronnie Ø — Google review
Just SUPERB! Wonderful meal with delicate but distinct flavours. The team were excellent, helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. We had the taster lunch with matching wines, which made a birthday celebration lunch very special. At The Elephant, you pay for excellence and ambience, and the restaurant delivers in every regard, and more! Everything we had on the taster menu was delightful, and I have to recommend the petite bouche as a great way to prepare your palate for what is to come. Thanks so much for a wonderful experience, cannot recommend this highly enough! Enjoy!
Darren P — Google review
Delightful dining room, service from entrance to leaving was superb. We had the fixed price lunch menu but I wanted to choose a dessert from the carte, no problem just paid the extra. What I love about food like this is that it tastes great and although on the plate the items don’t look massive at the end of the meal you’re totally satiated but not uncomfortably full. The sourdough and mushroom butter was a delicious start, I chose the fish of the day (gurnard) and OH had duck leg - they were both those sort of plates of food you don’t want to finish because they taste so good. Plenty of wines by the glass to choose from, good idea as someone has to drive! Thank you Simon and all your team both in the kitchen and FOH. I definitely recommend you book a table here if you’re in the area.
