Over marketed for its delicious taste but grossly under delivered ! We went for a late brunch at Erode Amman Mess in Brickfields , Kuala Lumpur . The place had a good number of diners even at late afternoon on a week day . The ambience was nice with good seating arrangements . My friend who lives nearby in Taman Seputeh, Kuala Lumpur told me, I would not be disappointed with the food served there . He felt the prices for the food was very reasonable compared to other restaurants . For me, it was my first time there . He asked me to try their chicken briyani which I did . The portion was good for 2 persons with lighter appetite . So we shared. When the briyani came , I was surprised , a chicken thigh bone dropped from the pot of rice as though someone had eaten and left it inside the rice while I was scooping for the chicken . There was nothing to shout about the briyani as it was a bit soggy and definitely did not meet my normal expectations . We requested for a replacement which they did most apologetically. I ordered one carrot halwa for desert which was tasty and delicious . The little pieces of fried chicken that our neighbour lady who sat next to us gave us to taste were good. The lemon based drink fell short of the menu's presentation image with their tainted glass and concoction in a restarant of this class . I felt they could have done better with such a good overall set up of the restaurant generally . It could have been a wrong day , we came to dine here when the briyani I craved to eat after my friend talked so much about it, did not turn up adequately cooked to meet our taste bud . The Vegetarian Banana Leaf set is a good place to start here. You get rice, 3 vegetables (daily specials), pickles, beetroot chutney, sweet chutney, some ghee and pappadam.
