My children’s kids’ meals were supposed to include ice cream, which was never served. My pint of Guinness arrived in a cup that was only half full, yet charged at a premium price. To make matters worse, while we were eating, a staff member was painting a table right by the pool, filling the area with a chemical smell. This hardly created the atmosphere of a relaxing resort. And to top it all up, while we were in the pool a couple of people thought that it was OK to let a puppy dog swim in a tiny pool. The dog freaked out, which resulted in the dog scraping my daughters arm, which left a scar. To be fair, I must acknowledge the bright spot of our stay: a couple of your restaurant servers at dinner and breakfast were excellent and truly embodied the spirit of hospitality. But the larger issue is that the collective service culture at the resort did not reflect Hilton’s standard. There are marks along the walls from where luggage has been slid around, dirty floors, showers, and tubs. I went through a container and half of Clorox wipes during my stay. The beds are firm, hard. My hotel phone didn’t work in the third room, no bag for ice, either. I called the next day for an ice bag and they brought me tiny bags that looked like they were meant for deli pickles. There was no way I could get ice in there, they weren’t meant for ice. Also, the peep hole was installed incorrectly so it was open at all times, I eventually wedged a post it note so the hole was covered. The staff was nice enough but having to go back to a dirty room each night ruined my trip. I had to switch from a king size room to a double bed(s) and no appeasement was offered. Not even a drink. I eventually gave up moving rooms because it’s clear cleanliness is not a priority at this establishment, I should’ve read reviews as this seems to be a common theme but I had faith in the Hilton name, I guess. Our initial contact with them on the phone was great and we were really excited for our stay. We showed up at 3pm on Saturday. The office was closed and locked but thankfully we found a maintenance man that let us in to get our site info. I paid for half the stay over the phone and asked to pay the remainder in cash. After 2 days of trying to catch someone in the office to make our cash payment, they done an unauthorized withdrawal from my account for the remaining amount. I had cash in hand but can’t pay if no one is around to take the money. The campground had a near constant smell of sewer. I don’t know what was causing it. It would come and go but when you could smell it, it was very strong. One day while showering in the bathhouse the sinks started backing up and overflowing into the floor. Then all 4 sinks stayed nasty the rest of our stay. The men’s bathroom only has one toilet and then a hole in the floor where another one once was. On our first night there was a camper just down from us that was blasting music and then another camper riding around blasting music on a golf cart at well after 1:00am. We had to be up at 6 the next morning for a reservation we had. Quite time is listed at 11pm but is not enforced. Also, the sewer hook up for our camper was about 25ft away, on the other side of our camper and up hill. On a positive note, the laundry room was nice and it is in a great location and the maintenance man was super nice and basically the only employee we seen.
