There were two high back chairs in the room, however they were not that comfortable and more of a lounging chair would have been better. The room was semi clean I found sand in the floor after my first walk in with no sandals. I always leave them outside. Other than that all was clean and organized. The distance to the beach is a good one but is not as private when you have everyone in the same spot trying to get the best area to camp. I did however enjoyed how easy is to walk back to the cottage. People are nice and helpful. My units front window wouldn't open. But I was able to slide it and had some light. Not a biggie. She was very friendly and went above and beyond to make sure we were enjoying our time including offering us some bug spray when we were getting eaten alive. I had many lovely convos with her and she had great recommendations. The Cottage was clean and spacious and is steps to the beach. If you're looking for a laid back quiet resort on the beach, this is your spot. I've lived in the area and been out to the island for over 15 years and this by far was my favorite place to stay.

Obviously the location is beautiful, the amenities are over the top - but what will make me return and definitely recommend this place to friends over anywhere else in swfl is the people who work here. Case in point Kyle and Chris at the front desk deserve a shout out 🙏🙏🙏 they helped me out big time troubleshooting an issue I couldn’t figure out so I could watch a soccer game even though I prob should have been at the pool with family. But none the less they went above and beyond and I got to watch the game.There was a guy driving a golf cart named Matt who helped us with directions - big thanks Matt w/o you I prob would have drove the wrong way. I didn’t catch her name but the waitress at the Shipyard was a pro dealing with a table of like 20 people, split checks, I was impressed. The gentlemen who was bussing our big table thank you a million you were a good person. They set up beach lounge chairs and yellow beach umbrellas every morning. These are free to use. We also used the kayaks, paddle boards, bikes and pickle ball courts. NO hot tub available on site.. The pool closes at sundown . The island grocery stare and other stores close early also. As long as you prepare for this it isn't an issue. There are many biking trails on the island. The beach is sand with shells. Breakfast is muffins, pastry, bagels, toast, granola bars, fruit, precooked boiled eggs, etc. Drinks at breakfast were coffee, juice, milk, silk chocolate milk. I may have forgot something. The beach has small biting bugs that come out early in the morning and at sundown. I understand this to be island wide and on other FL beaches. I give it 4 stars because some of the employees didn't seem to understand basic English and that was frustrating. There was a younger man who was an absolute fountain of information and Restaurant suggestions. He was always right on the money and provided excellent service.

The rooms are a little dated and run down, but it's for people on a budget and if they remodelled it would have to cost more. The AC in our room couldn't get it cool enough for me (it was about 75) but everyone else was fine. It has a kitchenette but limited utensils. They have beach umbrellas, beach toys and chairs to use for free. You can rent bikes for $15/day. We stayed in cottage 22 with 4 adults, 2 kids and an infant. We ended up extending our stay. The staff was very accommodating, knowledge and helpful. Overall, it was a great value and we enjoyed it immensely. Next time though, we will try to find somewhere with beach access.

The grounds are very well maintained with chairs and picnic tables scattered around. Has shuffle board , horse shoes , corn hole , and ring toss games. Laundry is free along with commercial ice maker. Both trips , I just had such a wonderful, peaceful, relaxing time . There is also a canal out back with fountains. I highly recommend.

We usually stay in the resort when we are visiting the Island, but with the kids we wanted to try something different. Something with a more homey, beachy, family house kind of feel. So I found this gem ! We stayed in the Gardenia Cottage and received daily breakfast vouchers for 2 restaurants across the street. When we arrived, we just parked and were pretty much steps from the beach. We did rent a gulfcart to ride around the Island and watch the sunset at different locations. We will definitely be back. I am actually very impressed, and to top it all off: The staff is very sweet. Absolute gem ! and absolutely a win ! The stay was comfortable with 2 adults and 2 kids: Kids ages: Almost 3 year old and almost 1 year old. The Gardenia was a perfect size for the jogging stroller we brought along with our beach buggie. We did also have an outdoor patio area that made a world of difference. It was also perfect for relaxing and listening to live music which they play next door in the evenings. The cottage came with all the beach items you would need plus bicycles to use. There is a washer/dryer to be shared by each duplex. The cottage is decorated in lovely beach themes and colors. A/C worked great. Wi-Fi good inside but a bit spotty in the lanai. Easy self check in and the information booklet was helpful on the living room table. Within walking distance to Donax beach, however we had a rental car which was great for driving all around the area (Sanibel/Captiva) and driving to dinner each evening. Highly recommend the Driftwood cottages (there are 4 units total, 2units per building). Parking is easy and convenient right by the cottage. Loved our stay, hope to return.
