A hidden gem in Mississauga! It’s a beautiful conservation area with a long boardwalk over the marshes. You can follow the boardwalk all the way to a shingle beach. The beach is fairly long with lovely views of the Toronto skyline. It’s a peaceful place; even on the weekend it was not busy.
One of the entrances to the conservation area is from a quiet, secluded residential area. It’s a great place to connect with nature and get some exercise.

Beautiful park! Took the stroller and did the most of the Waterfront Trail, the Knoll Trail and Silver Maple Trail. I would say the Knoll Trail was best for the stroller as it was almost all boardwalk. The Silver Maple Trail had parts where it was less flat / maintained, with tree roots and such, making it a bit harder without a proper jogging stroller. There was a couple of small steps where the Waterfront Trail connected to the Silver Maple Trail, as well. No entrance fees or tickets needed. Overall the park is gorgeous, the trails are well maintained and it is a great spot for hiking!

No tickets required to enter the place. We can park vehicles at Jack Darling memorial Park as there are no parking at Rattray Marsh Conservation area. We need to be in foot only on the broadwalk, no bicycle is allowed. Get prepared for insects and ticks. It has a good views and many animals to view.

And an entrance to the marsh can be found around the back. Alot of nice spots to stop and take pictures on the trail. ~40-60 minutes to enjoy everything. No tickets needed.

It’s a great trail for along walking or biking. All the way is well maintained and it’s good for toddlers or parents with stroller.

Very beautiful conservation area along a credit view river. Many varieties of natural plants and flowers are conserved in this park. People are doing the camping in this conservation area as well. Rest Rooms are available in the park and 3 picnic areas are available for having the group lunch and gatherings. There’s a nice view of credit river from the steel wooden walkway bridge in this park.

Really pristine and lush conservation area. Multiple picnic areas, a beautiful and serene river that runs along, lot of vegetation makes this a perfect space for any kind of outing.
The picnic areas are especially large so even with bigger crowds, you will not get the feeling of being congested. You can set up your barbeques here as well, we saw a few of them. Be it with friend or family, both kind of groups can enjoy here.
The trail is also interesting here, did not completely cover it but was surrounded well with the forest area.

This trail was lovely. Great for an early morning run, an afternoon stroll or even a picnic lunch in the grass or picnic table. Lots of smaller trails for exploring woody areas and finding wild flowers and small forest creatures. Trail has numerous access points throughout the surrounding communities including the meadowvale community center. There is a playground and open field areas as well as various exercise equipment along the trail.

You can hang and take pictures, you can hike along one of the trails - I brought my dogs and there's a trail that runs beside the river so they were able to cool off easily. It's a easy-going trail it doesn't take that long roughly about 25 minutes walking the whole trail with a nice river with rocks throughout the whole path. Now for (Free Parking) I recommend you look up sawmill Valley public school and right beside it is a parking lot which you can park in for free there's two metal gates in front. If you look across the street from the parking lot there is a pathway with a bench and a garbage can as you can see this is the entrance to the sawmill park path and also connects to the SawMill Valley trail path connected as one conjoined path. Roughly it took me 16-17 minutes long to walk from the one entrance path to the other and the whole path overall as said up above 25mins roughly.

It's a good and clean provincial park , they'd a barn style playground and some animals you can even feed them at 25cents * theres machines at the location and the kids can enjoy some extra contact with animals in a fun and cute way by feeding the goats .
There's a lot of washrooms so make easy to bring kids even younger ones, pregnant and even wheelchairs accessible too.
You can enjoy fall colours easy too.
You can bring strollers / wagoons and enjoy your own snack at the snack room inside the barn playground theres an space for snack .
The trails are very clean and easy to do it with kids too.

This is a very accessible park east of Toronto. Very friendly staff. Facilities were very clean. The tent pitch was well maintained with a fire pit and seated bench. Local electrical supplies were available with a 30A connector and standard 15A 110Vac connectors. The pitch also gives you free access to the provincial park, which is a short drive away. There is some traffic noise, but suspect the rear tent pitches are more sheltered from this. Overall, it was great value and perfectly placed for trips to Niagara or Toronto. The intermediate trails definitely not for anyone with mobility challenges. I do feel it important to call out that there was about 5 persons on bikes that were incredibly selfish in coming down the trail at a speed that children and older adults with more limited mobility could be seriously injured just to not being able to clear the way as quickly. A word of caution for those walking this trail...on some of the downhill trails your aware as some bike riders were not as polite in when sharing these trails.
The trail in itself is a beautiful urban gem. we really appreciated the clear signs indicating routes and the maps at different locations.

Had an amazing fall lookout while being here recently. This is one of the best place to see Colors of Autumn during the end week of October without having to travel much within Toronto City. Has a good hiking trail and plenty area to keep you busy throughout the day.
Easily accessible by TTC bus service.
Crothers Woods is located north of Evergreen Brick Works and west of the Don Valley Highway, between Pottery Rd and Millwood Rd.
It has everything: mature forest, birch and larch meadows, a river, dirt and gravel trails, a pedestrian bridge, a railroad track in us another abandoned… and a 194-step staircase.

DIFFICULTY & TRAIL MAPS: 🗺
Depending on the adventure you choose, the trail varies from beginner to advanced.
When I visited, the paths we chose didn't have many trail markers, and we only came across one map. I highly suggest taking photos of the map during your visit to avoid getting lost.
TERRAIN: 🥾
The terrain is quite technical in certain areas (again, depends on the trails you choose). It's a mixture of wider gravel trails, narrow dirt trails, and some parts are eroded from the recent floods we had in July. Proper trail shoes are recommended.
PARKING & TRANSPORTATION: 🚗🚇
Crothers Woods is accessible by subway and bus. It's about a 10 to 15 minute walk from the bus stops nearby.
The Thomas Hauser Memorial Trailhead is located at the farther side of the Loblaws parking lot. There is plenty of parking, and it's free.

Washrooms are located inside the Loblaws. Didn't see any portable washrooms inside the trails.

Its a 10km of natural trail with a diverse population of birds. There are some amazing views of Toronto skyline around the corners. It is really a popular escape into the nature in the middle of the city.
These are dirt trails and includes some steeo sections and is rated as intermediate level trails.
There are other trails around to explore as well like the Sun Valley Trail and the Cottonwood Flats Trail. You could see the pictures uploaded along with the review. I have covered all these trails along with the Lower Don Parklands.
Parking is available with the Loblaws and Starbucks. There are restrooms you can use there or buy something to eat on your trail.
Dogs are allowed. Trails are suitable for all age groups be it children or elders or even older people. There are bike trails also available. You could see the dog walkers along the trail. The Don river just gives a picturesque landscape to the whole trail. There are hills and trees all around. There is an abandoned railway line bridge on top of the river with some cool graffiti.
It is also known for mountain biking. So get your MTBs and helmets and get set going. Overall, it was a nice experience and we did this in fall. Can't wait for the spring to go there again for all the colors.

This park is so much fun. It's very different from most off-leash parks, in that you don't really see fences. It's a huge natural area with fome forest, some meadow, and a creek to splash around in. If you want to hike far, you will come to some cliffs and some areas with coyote warnings, but if you're just looking for a walk-about a wide-open space to frolic, and tons of shallow-water play, this is absolutely your place. We take our dogs on all kinds of adventures, but they always get extra excited when they realize we're going here. 🌳😃🐕💕

My dog LOVES it here (so do I). Huge area to run around, explore, chase squirrels, meet tons of other furry friends, and a creek to cool off. The majority of the dogs that come here are friendly and well-behaved. You’ll enjoy your time here even if you’re not a dog owner or just coming for a stroll. I have two dogs –a corgi and a labrottie– and this is our 'go to' off-leash destination of choice. We probably go here at least 3-4 times a week. The best thing about the Etobicoke Valley Off Leash Dog Park is that once you go through the gate it's totally off-leash...no worries at all. The other dog owners are friendly and the other dogs are well behaved. There is virtually no trash to be found. The beaches are fantastic. The meadow is wide, with lots of room for the dogs to run and wrestle. And the forested areas hide plenty of things for the dogs to find ie SQUIRRELS. One can easily spend a couple of hours there and get 10,000 steps. If you have a dog(s) you owe it to yourself to visit. And while you're at it, become a contributing member.

Omg love this place. My husband and I love bringing our dog here. There's a bit of a yucky smell when you first enter at the top of the hill but once you get down to the water, it's not so bad. There's a long hikable trail along the water and little nooks for pups to meet and play. Fun to go but make sure to bring a towel for after! 😊

This park is incredible! A GTA gem, it is entirely leash-free and features beautiful forest trails that frequently run along Etobicoke Creek. Your dog can explore the bushes and trails and jump into the water to swim and cool down. While I love the High Park trails, they can be quite busy and are very obviously maintained. Etobicoke Creek is great if you want to get lost in nature for a bit - you'd never know you were in the middle of a city!
While it is frequented by other people and their dogs, most are also walking the trails so you can either linger and play or continue walking and get a workout for yourself in. I highly recommend walking the trails until the end of the park - they boast a great view!
One note, the only garbage cans are at the beginning of the trail so be prepared to carry your garbage (and poop bags!) with you! Do not litter! Also, the trails narrow in some areas (right alongside the creek) and can be treacherous when muddy or icy. The creek also swells - especially in the spring - and the bugs can be brutal in summer. Take care and be safe!

Love Don Valley Brick Works Park and I visit each week. Especially now in October with fall here and all the amazing colors. No matter how many times I have visited, walked around all the buildings and trails I see something new each and every time. Perfect area and safe for families and children. The ponds are amazing and all the walk ways across the ponds. Watch for the turtles in the ponds and you have to be looking for them as some very small. This is one of my favourite parks in the city! I first went there many years ago before the buildings were restored as part of a field trip. I learned about the wonderful geological features, like fossils of trilobites and even a giant beaver! However, the beautiful wetlands were what captured my heart. It’s so amazing to see wildlife like snapping turtles and blue herons in the city! I highly recommend hiking up to the lookout, especially in autumn to take in all the glorious colours.

Wonderful walking path with shady trees and benches all around. Perfect for a quiet walk in the morning or evening. It's about 2.5 kms if you make a full round. Nice for walking dogs as well, but be mindful of going towards the water with your dogs because the water level can suddenly change. Very quiet and full of nature sounds.

Like another reviewer said, I didn't expect this kind of terrain and hiking experience right in the middle of the city. Fall colors were gorgeous, and despite hundreds of people out there, it didn't really feel congested. The river is the heart of the magic, but the leaf colors and the varied plant and bird life are terrific. It's easy to check out the Riverwood Conservancy while you're in the 'hood.

This place is a little gem so close to an urban area. It has a lot of options for everyone. There are trails of varying degrees of difficulty, well manicured gardens, an art centre with galleries, art and cultural events… and then there’s the wildlife!! So many beautiful birds.
There are two parking spots at the location. Free parking but it does get busy after 10am on a weekend.
The trails: it’s a level 2-3! That hill, which can’t be avoided is a 3. (A 4 being: omg!!) However there’s another option for those who want the 1 experience but I’ve never walked the flat trail next to the parking lot and I don’t know how far it goes.

I’m not quite sure where I fall on this one; its one of those areas that I like to say “provide a semblance of nature”
The good: plenty of dirt trails and litter did not seem to be too much of an issue…
The area suffers from overuse, though (its telling that the squirrel in the picture did not even flinch, indicating how accustomed it is to human presence), with evidence of erosion (has no one ever heard of switchbacks?) - plenty of mountain bike tracks too, likely indicating that this may not be helping.
There were many off leash dogs and people talking quite loudly on cell phones - not really conducive to being “one with nature” either; nor did the loudness of the hwy traffic help, which in some parts of the trail was deafening.
Take my opinion for what it is, but I won’t be back to this area; there are plenty of other areas in Mississauga that are more naturalized (read my other reviews)…
Nice try though - lets hope this area benefits the local flora and fauna more than it did me.

Other than that, it's good for family picnic as it's wide and has trail, not very flat walking surfaces as it looks like it was dug but ok to walk. Takes you along the creek where salmon swim and even under pass of the 403 highway. A great stroll with chipmunks, various birds and even ducks and other fowl. You'll see trees that have fallen by beaver activity.
Expect paved and unpaved areas. Some spots have significant erosion due to the hilly side.
Bird feeders along the way.
Certain areas with tall trees offer canopy.

I absolutely loved this trail. It is not that long, but you can continue along the trail beside the U of T Mississauga campus. There is a section in this trail where many maples of the same subspecies are agglomerated together and they are tall and old, and ALL leaves are yellow, making you feel like you are standing under a golden dome. Great trail especially in the fall if you are a UTM student, it’s right across campus and the colours are beautiful. If you have some time to kill between classes or just want to relax make sure to check it out! Pretty easy and there is a loop, but also multiple exits during the trail. The fall colours here are amazing! No spots to park though, unless you want to pay

Another oasis of green in the City of Mississauga. Natural surroundings untouched by human hand make the trail a great one to be part of nature. It may not be as well maintained as the Culham Trail but for someone looking to get out of the buzz of city life and into nature, this has a lot to offer.
The only concern were the various signs along the trail that warned of coyotes possibly entering the trail. Not that we saw any during our walk but the signs sure made our hair stand on edge. And our ears keen to listen to any "rustling noise" that may forwarn us of an impending coyote run-in.
