Coolum Beach Hotel did a fantastic job putting on the NRL final. The outdoor area setup in the carpark was a great idea, and I was really impressed with how well the staff and security handled such a busy night.
What really let the night down was the venue manager. After I stepped out to the loo, I wasn’t allowed back into the outdoor area due to a cut-off time. That’s fine, rules are rules, but I walked right past him on the way out and wasn’t told there was a cut-off. Because of that, I couldn’t get back in and ended up missing the rest of the game with my family.
What made it worse was the way he handled it. For some reason, he mocked the way I spoke and even the way I laugh. I’ve got no idea if he was having a bad day or if he had some personal issue with me, but if that’s the case, let’s handle it like adults and sort it out. No need for high school-style mocking.
Other than that, big ups to the team for putting together a great night.

Ally was super accommodating in helping me organise a late birthday dinner, and extremely prompt with her service though it was busy, and always maintained a smile. Found this lovely Italian restaurant on our 2nd trip to Coolum. Pepperoni Pizza is so worth the visit! The last time we had the quality of this Italian pizza was overseas 3 months ago. Busy place where the locals eat. Food is pretty good, we had the steak and kids had pasta. All good without being anything to rave about. Service is a little ordinary and chaotic but it was a very busy night when we were there. Buzzing atmosphere where you can let your hair down. Firstly, the quality of the pizzas we ordered for takeaway was fine. They tasted nice enough, but they aren'tmuch better than the most expensive frozen pizza you can buy at Coles or Woolies, and they don't come even close to the value and quality of our local pizza place.
We ordered 3 pizzas and 1 box of chips for the grand total of $73.
The pizzas are 10" in size and very light on toppings. A standard pizza hut or domino's pizza has more toppings.
Compare these pizzas to our local gourmet pizza place, and these just look anorexic by comparison. See pic's.
The super low score is purely based on the high price charged for a pizza that simply doesn't live up to expectations at this price point.

Nice atmosphere for a relaxed dinner. The pizzas are great and tasted lovely, unfortunately could not say the same for the beef ragu, it was just a spaghetti bolognese labelled as a ragu, sauce was light rather than a richer ragu-like sauce with dry mince beef. Ordered Arancini balls too, which had a floury tasting filling with an extra hard outer layer. So unfortunately the only thing I can recommend is their pizzas, however there is quite a range and number to choose from.

Really enjoyed the coffee (and descriptions). Breaky wrap was great. Cafe really deserves to be in the esplanade and not in the middle of a shopping centre carpark. Unfortunately there was some horn-friendly individuals in the carpark whilst I was dining.

Came here a few weeks ago and was very happy. But just ordered a double scoop in a waffle cone, as I did last time, and have done many times elsewhere. Thought the guy was quick getting it. He obviously didn't push it into the cone, just put the scoops on top! After a few licks, the whole thing fell out onto my top and dripped onto my pants. I went up to tell the guy, he just shrugged and went on cleaning the windows. No offer of water and tissues to help. Very disappointing and probably won't be back!!!

Our 2nd time here and it lived up to what I remember. The food is fresh, full of vegetables (which we love) and delicious. We had Kung Pao Chicken, Teriyaki Beef and steamed rice. More than enough for 2 of us so we had takeaway too. The ladies greeted us with a smile and so warm and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. Reasonably priced too. Thanks, we'll come back!

Had a quick lunch here with my partner while waiting for our friends. It’s quite hot on that day but the staffs said the air conditioning was broken down. So we sat outside, we’re sweating. My partner went to the cashier to order some cold drinks but could only get one bottle that we liked, sold out. I had the Singaporean noodles and my partner had a pad Thai. It's been a while since we dined at Si Suphan, however, meals, service and atmosphere lived upto expectations and memories.
I travel a bit for work and see and taste a variety of good and bad. We are lucky to have the range of cafes and restaurants in Coolum we have and based on my experience, consistently good.
While I'm away I am subjected to, what I will term, 'Aussiefied' Asian dishes, however not here. Meals are great, of good portion size and service by young gentleman on evening of 23/01/23 was excellent.

Super tasty food. We usually get takeaway but decided to eat in. Lovely people, but underwhelmed by the restaurant. Our drinks were forgotten three times, and they had to stand on our table to get something from a shelf. All a bit odd. I'll stick to the takeaway from now on I think. Again, food is super tasty. Thoroughly miserable service from the moment I smiled at the waitress, waiting to be seated. Got one starter, but still took an hour to get our two mains. The starter (fish cakes) came without any cutlery. One main was lukewarm, the other was of mixed temperatures, with some of the chicken hot, some cold, like a stir fry made from refrigerated ingredients that wasn’t reheated adequately. The place was half full but the service was terrible, which is inexcusable. No smiles or desire to ‘serve customers’ from the young waitress. It strikes me that this place might know Asian dishes and do a reasonable job of that, but there’s clearly no experience of hospitality amongst the front of house staff. Perhaps the ‘chefs’ also have no experience of juggling multiple covers. I could believe that. No asking if we’d like more drinks after the first was gone. No polite apologies for the wait. Modern and appealing appearance however the food doesnt live up to the expectations. Had the fish salad, the only salad ingredients were onions and Chili. The other dishes were good either. They got our order wrong and dropped food on the table... didn't replace it. My kids comments : the only good thing here is the water.

We are staying at Coolum from Brisbane and decided that we would have take away fish and chips at our apartment with our own salad for dinner. When looking at this establishment on Google, we noted that the overall rating was quite low and therefore we were naturally a bit cautious. What we did note was that the owner seemed conscientious to respond to these reviews and that provided some reassurance that it was worth a try. We were not disappointed with our order. Our fish was fresh and light and perfectly cooked. The chips were seasoned well and enough for what we required. Overall a great dinner. Because of the mixed reviews, we committed ourselves to write this regardless of the experience, good or bad. If more people reviewed businesses when they meet expectations, this would be a more accurate representation of what they are likely to receive. We believe that this is the case for Coolum Seafood.

Probably the worst fish and chips I’ve ever had. Wouldn’t even rate one star.
On a fairly busy Friday lunch, we ordered two of the fish and chip specials. At most shops, this would mean a decent piece of fish and a single serve of chips. The staff member said it wouldn’t take long, now I know why.
The “fish” was three tiny pieces per pack, each the size and width of a pen, mostly batter with barely any fish (if you can even call it fish). The actual fish inside was not even 1 cm by 1 cm, tasteless, and completely lost in floury batter. The chips were average at best.
Overall, this felt misleading and poor value for money, more like “batter bites” than fish and chips. I left feeling disappointed and wishing I had complained on the spot and asked for my $30 for two back. I definitely won’t be returning and hope other take note. Had looked at the reviews and should have listened to what others said.

Worst experience at a fish and chips shop unfortunately. I’ve been here before and happy with the service, and food but the prices today felt quite unreasonable for the portions.
Service was rude and short, and the portion sizes were not it. Paid $30 for a 1 person fisherman’s basket and the amount of fish and chips, felt very small. I got charged double for sauce when asking to swap the Tartare for Tomato sauce, and all our chips had little to no salt, despite asking politely for extra chicken salt.
On top of this my partner got a small chips with his food and when we saw it was barley a small handful of chips, and addressed this to one of the kitchen workers, he said a firm “that’s a small, that’s what you get. No changes.”, and unfortunately we will not be returning here anymore. Very disappointing experience and would recommend the sandwich shop a few shops down.

The Coolum Seafood was a great idea and for the most part good food. After finding a parking spot 15 minutes walk away, there was a line of twenty people, then a wait of 25-30 minutes wait for the food. Would i do it again? After standing right at the counter tonight for 8 minutes, not a single team member acknowledged me, yes it was busy. This alone gives them a 10 out of 10. As advised our pizzas arrived exactly 20 mins later and delivery guy was friendly . The pizzas we ordered were outstanding !! Incredibly disappointed with our order of fish and chips tonight. We paid $15.60 for each piece of fish, 1 battered cod & 1 crumbed cod, not even the size of a standard iPhone. Both pieces of cod cost us over $31.20 in total and the serving size was no where near that of another local Coolum Beach fish and chip shop (double the size of what we received from Coolum Coastal Chicken). Our chips also arrived soggy. We are regular customers and have no issues with their chicken, however the chips are hit and miss. We called and spoke to the manager as we have been regular customers here for a while now and was told that the price is more expensive because we ordered off of Uber Eats and that sometimes there are small pieces of fish to use. I explained that if this is the case and if I’m paying 15.60 for a half sized fillet of COD then you should add another piece. We shouldn’t be penalized. I was offered a credit of a piece of fish back to my Uber Eats app, so hopefully this is honoured. Very dissatisfied and won’t be ordering fish here ever again!

The food all looks utterly amazing and the taste is equal. The chicken was full of flavour and juicy, the chips were fresh and crunchy but the most surprising thing was the gracious size of the meal, it was large enough for two!
I've found a new favourite when I'm up this way.

The peri peri chicken is amazing. The chicken is succulent, flame-grilled to perfection and smothered in home made spicy peri peri sauce. The chips and sauces are delicious! David and Sienna are super friendly and the prices are reasonable. If we lived in Mt Coolum we would eat here all the time!

This is a great little shop offering a limited range of dishes. We had the grilled and fried chicken burgers. They were delicious but the bun was not warm and the burger was not as hot as we would have preferred. Still, it’s a good mix of service, food, price and convenience.

We stopped for takeaway burgers and so glad we did! You have to be prepared to wait a few minutes but it's TOTALLY WORTH IT! All of the burgers are made fresh and they are great. Keeping this one my list for anytime I'm back around this area and will make the drive to get another chicken burger here again!
