Lingyin Temple, the oldest Buddhist temple in Hangzhou dating back to 328 CE, has been rebuilt multiple times due to damage from fires and warfare. The temple is a fascinating blend of ancient tradition and modernity, with millennial-pink cafes and modern monuments juxtaposed against its historic stone carvings. Visitors can embark on a tour of Hangzhou that includes a cruise on the lake, followed by a visit to Lingyin Temple for an immersive experience in Chinese Buddhism.
Breathtaking ancient temple! Founded in 326AD with 1,700 years of history, one of China's ten most famous Buddhist temples. Nestled in lush Wulin Mountains, truly lives up to "Temple of the Soul's Retreat". Impressive entrance hall and heavenly king statues. Deeply serene experience!

The place is nice but very busy. I enjoyed the climb — about 350 meters up to reach the temple at the top. The view and atmosphere are beautiful, but it’s quite touristic. There’s also a cable car if you prefer not to walk. It’s a bit expensive, yet still a very spiritual experience, though there were too many people for my taste.
Angela — Google review
Before coming to Hangzhou, I did a very good research about the place and everyone said that I need to see this place. I loved the architecture of the temple. The guide explained to us lots of details we needed to know. This temple has the biggest gold coated (33 kgs of gold) buddah. It was nice to see how people worship at this temple. The place can be very crowded.
Antoun B — Google review
Historic place, ancient temple with many idols, Buddha, and many other saints and monks. It's a very divine place, crowded with a lot of people, and features clean, organized maintenance. Worth visiting to get blessings from the divine powers.
Bala G — Google review
The entire area is huge and you can take whole day to visit all the temples and peaks. Took a cab to the place, but you need to alight at the carpark outside and walk about 10min to the entrance. The road to the place was jammed too. The short taxi ride from Yue temple took more than 30min. There are also many interesting shop on the way to the Lingyin temple. There are also many restaurants at the main entrance. The shade and breezy wind help to make the visit more enjoyable in summer. Spent about 1-2hours only manage to visit Lingyin temple only. This temple alone is big.
Young G — Google review
We took the metro Line 1 from Wulin Square and the bus or you can book taxi go to here. A spacious pagoda with many stone Budda on the moutain
Helena N — Google review
Vast, expansive temple, crowded over the weekend, particularly in the main hall where a ceremony was taking place.
Tony B — Google review
If you are into Buddhism, this is the place to go. I have never seen such a huge Buddha statue carved out of wood. I think it’s also the biggest one globally. It lies within the national park and you have to buy an extra ticket for it

National park
Nature & Parks
Xixi National Wetland Park, often referred to as the "kidney of Hangzhou" due to its cleansing properties, is a picturesque destination located just a 20-minute drive from West Lake. This expansive park boasts an array of ponds, lakes, swamps, and villages dating back to the Han dynasty. Visitors can immerse themselves in the vivid cultural heritage and witness ancient crafts such as silk farming and book engraving.
Pleasant park with lots of walking paths. Plenty of small restaurants within the park boundary. We stayed overnight at a charming hotel called the Xixi Fan Yuan Hotel (凡云酒店) which was walking distance to a museum, a “walking street” with eateries and arts and craft shops.
D W — Google review
It's a very big natural park with greenery & colors. Different types of Trees, Flowers, mini streams pond available. Also mini Tulip festival happens in April. Avery good place to pass a day with Family & kids. Amazing place.
Md. R — Google review
Xixi national werland Park is really a treasure, it’s a very big park so I walked a lot. The place is tranquil and beautiful and it seems to go back in time. I had fun searching for shrines, little houses and bridges 🌳🦋
Laura L — Google review
Nice big wetland with canals for boat rides but unfortunately the guides on the boats don’t speak any English. Also where are all the birds? A wetland park like this should be teeming with water birds, but all I have seen so far is one duck and one Herron. Plenty of places to buy food and drinks at the boat piers. Finally if you have difficulty walking the paving of the footpaths is quite uneven.
Chris P — Google review
It is a local park and attraction. CNY 80 entrance fee, which I thought is a bit high. There isn’t much to see. The staff at the information counter isn’t too helpful and patient. Maybe it is nicer during spring time when flower blossom.
Henry K — Google review
A city park in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province. It is full of lakes, ponds, streams and greenery. A lovely place to walk and there is a lot of wildlife there, despite what some reviews say. I saw invertebrates, amphibians, birds, fish, and one mammal (a bat) in the space of about 3 hours. There are also plenty of food vendors, shops, and some museums and art exhibitions. Entry to the park is free, but the boat trips, hot air balloon, and Gao's mansion all cost, I think. Well worth a visit if you are in or near Hangzhou.
James C — Google review
Top ❤️. One of the top places in all China ❤️. Worth the travel, must visit during a trip in East China, for a well-preserved wetland scenery, animals and plants, temples and traditional buildings 😊✨👍
Xavier L — Google review
What a beautiful wetland park, and the ticket is free. The scenic area is very large. We stayed at the Sheraton Hotel next to it and spent 6 days visiting the park. We took a walk in the park every morning. It was full of green trees, birds and flowers. It was a pity that there was too little tourist content available on Google Maps. Basically, there was no information on this map. I hope foreign tourists will download local maps. Hangzhou has a lot of food and attractions.

Pagoda
Leifeng Pagoda, originally constructed in 975 A.D., is a five-story tower with eight sides located on Hangzhou's Sunset Hill, south of the West Lake. The pagoda collapsed in 1924 but was rebuilt in 2002. The area around the lake features ancient pavilions and pagodas such as Pagoda of Six Harmonies and Pagoda Baochu, offering pleasant tea rooms for relaxation.
Foreigners bring passport to purchase tickets. Grand and Beautiful rebuild. The old pagoda was burned and robbed by the pirates of neighbouring country and collapse. Which the remains are within the rebuild pagoda. Closes at 7pm. Check with staffs.

There is an elevator to make your hike sweat-less. Must visit if you are in hangzhou! It’s big and chill garden that you can take photo. Important tips: girl !don’t wear overalls cause they only have squatting toilet and bring tissue with you cause you need to pay for the toilet paper
Sad P — Google review
About a 5-10min walk from the entrance of 苏堤. Will pass by a Starbuck and a Chinese restaurant. Entrance fee to the tower is CNY40 per person. Going up the first level is the remains of the old tower. The stairs to the 2nd floor is on the left of the tower when you go up stairs toward the tower. From the 2nd floor you can take lift of stair up the tower. There is long queue for the lift, and the lift does not go to the top floor. You will still need to take the stairs for to the top floor. The view at the top is good, but a little crowded even on weekday. You get an all round view of West Lake and it’s breezy. Went on summer, so was especially nice to take a short break to enjoy the view and cool down.
Young G — Google review
The view from up here was spectacular. Each step towards the top of the pagoda transforms you into a wiser human being. You learn that when you walk, you will be tired. When you sit, you will get bored.
Leonardo T — Google review
Perched on top of a hill - the Leifeng Pagoda - offers a captivating sight especially when viewed from the West Lake minutes after sunset and especially during Blue Hour
Gan K — Google review
You should visit here when you are in Hangzhou. 1st and 2nd floor are old temple relics. Using elevator to go up the highest, you will see the best view of west lake
Helena N — Google review
Can buy ticket at the front door. very nice view up there and garden to walk around

This is a must-visit place in Hangzhou. It is at West Lake area. We were able to go despite the traffic around West Lake that day. It was a holiday when we did our tour and there were a lot of visitors- local and tourists alike. Good thing we decided to go. It is a beautiful place and the walk up was not that tiring. It has a long escalator from the bottom to the base of the pagoda then an elevator/ lift going up to the top. The view from above is breathtaking. You can see the whole West Lake area from there. The walls depict the ancient art of China. The ceiling has a beautiful design too. Overall it was worth the climb 😊

Qinghefang, a charming pedestrian street in Hangzhou, offers a taste of the city's rich history and traditional craftsmanship. The street is lined with shops where artisans demonstrate their skills, such as playing bamboo flutes or knitting sweaters. This bustling commercial area was once near the imperial palace during the Southern Song Dynasty and retains its traditional architecture from the late Qing Dynasty. Visitors can explore traditional shops, teahouses, and restaurants while immersing themselves in the city's past.
Rainy October. The steam coming from the spa would have been so good. So many concept stores where you can buy travel souvenirs. Bought rice wine and some edible floral tea. Also, presence of public toilet is a plus!

(Translated by Google) I really like Qinghefang, a wonderful corner of Hangzhou's old town. When you climb to the high observation deck, you can see the whole street stretching out, with sturdy old buildings, mossy tiled roofs and impressive traditional architecture. Walking around the small streets, I saw many shops selling souvenirs and specialty cakes, suitable for buying gifts or trying local dishes. The atmosphere here is both bustling and nostalgic, making me feel like I've entered an old but still vibrant era.

(Translated by Google) The long stone-paved street, lined with rows of well-preserved old wooden houses, creates a completely different atmosphere from the modern part of the city. There are many shops selling Longjing tea, traditional Chinese medicine, handicrafts and local specialties on the street. What I find interesting is that there are also long-standing restaurants with traditional dishes to try on the spot. In the evening, when the lights come on, the street becomes bustling but still retains its ancient features. However, because it is a famous tourist destination, it is quite crowded, especially on weekends, and the prices are somewhat higher than usual. For me, Qinghefang is a place worth visiting to feel the atmosphere of the old Chinese town, take pictures and enjoy some typical dishes, but you should not expect too much from shopping.

Dreaming of Tiger Spring at Hupao Valley, also known as Running Tiger Spring (Hupaomengquan), is a renowned spring located just south of West Lake. Legend has it that the spring was discovered by a monk who dreamt he would be led to water by two tigers during a drought in AD 819. The area features a scenic forest park and a temple dating back to the 9th century, offering visitors an escape into nature.
World's third best spring, according to past Emperor of China. There are several JiGong temples inside so if you're a believer, do visit. Spend an hour here and then go over to the nearby liuhe pagoda or vice versa.

Hupao Temple is located in pleasant area of West Lake. It was built in 9th century, but was rebuilt many times. There is a peaceful forrest park around the temple, that give you a feeling you are not in the city, but in the wild nature. Many locals visit it not only for roaming the park, but also for Tiger Spring with fresh and clean mountain water. You can take an empty bottle with you to fill it with water there. Worth viiting in autumn, golden season.

(Translated by Google) Hupao Spring is located in the Huichan Temple in the Hupao Scenic Area at the foot of the White Crane Peak of Daci Mountain, southwest of the West Lake in Hangzhou. It is about 5 kilometers away from the city center and is known as the "third best spring in the world". According to legend, in the 14th year of the Yuanhe period of the Tang Dynasty, a monk named Xingkong traveled here and saw that the environment at the foot of the White Crane Peak of Daci Mountain was quiet and suitable for self-cultivation. When he built a temple here, he was troubled by the lack of water nearby. With the help of his disciples Dahu and Erhu, the two disciples transformed themselves into tigers and moved the Tongzi Spring in the West Lake to this place, hence the name "Hupao Spring". It is the best place for Hangzhou people to drink tea and relax, and is one of the "Top Ten Tourist Attractions in the New West Lake" in Hangzhou. According to legend, during the Tang Dynasty, the monk Xingkong came here to spread Buddhism. Due to the lack of water, he was about to leave, but was enlightened by a god in his dream. Two tigers transformed from Nanyue fairy children dug the ground on the mountain to make a spring, so Daci Dinghui Zen Temple was built next to the spring site. Master Jigong passed away in Hupao Temple. There are five reliefs in the temple, which are images of Jigong's life: Jigong Fighting Crickets, Carrying Wood from Ancient Well, Legend of Feilai Peak and Crazy Monk Sweeping Qin, which record the main deeds of Master Jigong.

According to legend, in the 14th year of Tang Yuanhe (819), the eminent monk Huanzhong (also known as Xingkong) came here and liked the beautiful scenery here, so he stayed here. later. Because there was no water source nearby, he was about to move elsewhere. One night, he suddenly dreamed of a god telling him: "There is a Tongzi Spring in Nanyue. Two tigers should be sent to move it here." The next day, he saw the two tigers running away (planing). ) ground was used as a cave, and clear spring water gushes out immediately, so it is called Hupao Spring. Zhang Yining also gave Hupao Spring a religious and mysterious color in the couplet about the spring. Former Residence of Hu Xueyan, situated in Hangzhou, is a historical gem that offers a glimpse into the opulent lifestyle of the late Qing Dynasty. Constructed between 1872 and 1875 by the prominent merchant Hu Xueyan, this mansion beautifully combines traditional Chinese architectural elements with Western influences. Visitors can marvel at the intricate buildings, exquisite carvings, luxurious furniture, and lavish decorations within the residence.
We were blessed to look into the past as we walked the halls and garden of the former residence of Hu Xueyen. He was one of the richest man in Hangzhou with 13 wives. The villas of the wives were separated with small gardens. And a huge pond sits in the middle of the property. It is a beautiful house especially during the period it was built.

A really nice visit during my stay in Hangzhou. The house is renovated nicely, the architecture and setup are really giving an acient time ambiance, providing the experience of travelling back in time. The highlight of the house is truly the pond, really beautiful and peaceful. Other rooms are also impressive with sophisticated interior design and furniture, even though they're a bit repetitve but always consistent, making an awe towards the attention to details for the construction of the house. Highly recommended if you're looking for a half-day activity in Hangzhou.

This botanic garden is MASSIVE. Can easily stroll for hours here. Nice scenery all year round. There are quite a few entrances/exits so no need to worry about getting lost - just wander around and there is always a way out. There is a side exit to a 2km mountain trail of Mt Beigaofeng - just avoid this one if you don’t feel like climbing up. Admission is not free as of Nov 2023, I forgot the exact ticket price but it was quite cheap for sure.

Discover the serene beauty of Meijiawu Tea Village, nestled in the hills surrounding West Lake in Hangzhou. This village is renowned for its high-quality tea plantations, particularly Longjing tea, also known as dragon tea. Visitors can witness the process of collecting and producing this famous tea while exploring terraced hillsides adorned with lush greenery. Meijiawu offers a tranquil setting for plantation tours, tastings amidst picturesque gardens, and leisurely walks through the verdant fields.
The tea they are selling is definitely a 10/10. The taste is very good and refreshing. The price is not cheap but the taste and quality is there. There is a lot of health benefits and you can feel it after a long time drinking the tea. The place is good and would highly recommend their tea.

The stunning tea plantations in Hangzhou are truly a sight to behold, particularly famous for producing some of the finest Dragon Well Green Tea. The lush, rolling hills covered in vibrant tea bushes create a picturesque landscape that feels serene and inviting. Visiting this area is an absolute must for tea lovers and anyone looking to experience the rich culture of tea production. You can enjoy guided tours, learn about the meticulous growing and harvesting processes, and of course, savor the exquisite flavors of freshly brewed Dragon Well tea right on the plantation. It's an enchanting destination that offers a perfect blend of natural beauty and cultural significance.

What a relaxing atmosphere, we were lucky to have a pleasant visit, we could take a walk as it was not too sunny. The village is very beautiful with tea plantations and little stream flowing through it. We went by bus, but you can take taxi too. A lot of hiking opportunities there, we went with our baby so we kept to road side only.

It’s an old tea village that’s now turned into attraction for tourist. It’s part of the usual tourist tour itinerary. They will sell you hard on the tea and the pills. The tea quality is good but very expensive. You have to negotiate hard to get better price. Unless you have lots of extra time, I would skip this place.
Sendi W — Google review
If you want to get some dragon well tea that is quite good and possibly some of the best grown this is the place. Understand that the tea is not cheap but you are paying for a truly premium product. The grounds are nice. this site can be busy with several tour groups coming through. They also sell tea extract capsules.

Beautiful surroundings although our guide didn't have time to let us roam around. We listened to a talk about Chinese Tea (not a ceremony) and I bought some tea. They say this is China's best tea.

灵溪南路交叉口 This attraction is also known as Dragon Well Tea Plantation. Worth touring but do note that their tea is a premium product and probably the most expensive in China. And this company does NOT negotiate prices. A beautiful location: both the hills where tree is grown and their buildings. It is usually very crowded with bust tour groups by 10am... might be less crowded earlier and in late afternoon. I saw a parking lot only for buses; no idea where cars would park.

Zhejiang Art Museum, opened in 2009, is a sprawling complex spanning over 35,000 square meters. Situated facing the West Lake and Wangsonglin Mountain, it features 14 exhibition halls along with a skylit promenade, multi-function halls, a library, Children's Place, art shops, and a coffee bar.
Excellent art, very simple but nice to look at. Remember to use WeChat to book your visit.

It is a simple but nice museum. When I went there, the museum was preparing for a new exhibition, so certain areas were unaccessible. Prebook your visit using WeChat miniprogram. The security guy was very helpful and did this for me when I got to the security check. It is a nice place to go to in Spring and Autumn. You should take a book to sit down and relax at the cafeteria after looking at the different exhibitions. Check the bookstore, which has some books in English and some nice souvenirs. There are also two museum shops with nice stuff. If you have children there’s a nice big room for kids to draw, colour and play. Then, you can walk through the park to Leifeng Pagoda. I did this in a hot summer day but it was nice and relaxed. I called a cab but there are buses going nearby. Unfortunately I did not check their numbers.

Zhejiang Art Museum is a nice and comfortable museum, good to come if you are art lover. And most of their exhibition are in Chinese only. The art museum located next to the West Lake, it's always good to come while you are visiting West Lake. The museum is spacious, quiet and nice design. Song Dynasty Town is a cultural and amusement park that offers a blend of entertainment, Chinese folk art displays, and haunted houses. Developed in 1985 as Yellow Dragon Cave, it has transformed into an archaized amusement park with religious and humanistic culture. The park imitates the style of the Song Dynasty with a focus on 'Good Luck' - a traditional Chinese custom. Spanning 20 hectares, it's one of China's largest theme parks dedicated to Song Culture.
Songcheng Town Romance Park in Hangzhou is a must-see for anyone interested in Chinese history, culture and entertainment. More than just an amusement park, it is a meticulously recreated world of the Song Dynasty, offering a vivid and immersive look into the golden age of Chinese civilization. The park's architecture and layout were inspired by a famous ancient painting. Strolling through the streets, such as Pudong and Puxi, you will feel like you are lost in a bustling Songcheng Town. The highlight of any visit to Songcheng is undoubtedly the “Romance of the Songcheng” show. In addition to the main show, the park also offers a wide range of other attractions, performances and folk activities. Songcheng Town is a large park with many shows and attractions. To fully experience everything, plan to spend a full day or at least half day there. Impress with statement "给我一天, 还你千年 - Give me one day, I'll give you a thousand years". Worth it. Entrance fee: 350 yuan/person

It is a castle during the Southern Song Dynasty in China. There are various things to enjoy as a theme park, but I thought it would have been better to leave more traditional parts.

Absolutely beautiful experience, plz visit early and spend the entire day here, explore all the spots before dark, once it gets dark enjoy the view by the canal of the song town and enjoy the magical theatre. It is absolutely worth it , don’t miss the theatre performance and street performances. Dress up, as there are many rental inside the venue who give traditional clothes at decent price for the day. It has many photo spots to enjoy
Sana K — Google review
I don't think it's worth 350 yuan to visit here. The shows that more like Indian belly dance than Chinese. Im not sure in Song dynasty that type of dance was popular. The layout is so confusing that we couldn't plan to see the shows on time It over exaggerated. You also need to know some history too.
Love T — Google review
Amazing place. The main performance is truly not to be missed… wasn’t expecting much but we were truly amazed. There were horses, acrobatics, fire, water, snow… The performances were great and shared bits of famous folklore and chinese history. Would have been great if there was audio guide for non chinese tourists to provide them with more context but it was fine for us as we’re Singaporean chinese and grew up learning bits and pieces of chinese history.

Best performance i have watch in china. Rain, lake, waterfall, real horse in the theatre. Understanding history in a very interesting way. Buy your tickets at least 1 day before.
Alex L — Google review
A must-visit in Hangzhou! The park offers a stunning recreation of Song Dynasty culture, with beautiful architecture, engaging activities, and the incredible "Romance of the Song Dynasty" show. A bit crowded and pricey, but worth it for the immersive experience.
Trish H — Google review
A massively impressive Song dynasty- theme park with multiple performances which will wow you. Lots of variety of food and drinks. The main performance in Theatre 1 was spectacular with a display of CGI, special effects, gymnasts, flying stunts, and elaborately dressed dancers. The earthquake performance in Theatre 5 is worth your time too. Invoked many emotions. There are also VR and 3D activities eg dinasour and Star Wars experiences. The entire parked is covered ie you can enjoy the place rain or shine. My only gripe is the fact that everything is in mandarin and therefore one misses out on many nuances if one isn’t a native mandarin speaker. Nrbethelrsd I still enjoyed the experience.

Located in the south of West Lake, Three Pools Mirroring the Moon is adorned with two-meter-high stone Qing Dynasty pagodas that are illuminated at night. The lake also boasts three man-made islands, including Three Pools Mirroring the Moon, Mid-lake Pavilion, and Rong Gong Islet. The largest of these islands is Lesser Yingzhou, also known as the Fairy Islet.
This place is really beautiful and serene. Worth the time and taking the ferry is easier than trying to conquer the whole lake from the side. Helpful tip for foreigners on latest situation. Getting to Three Moons, you need a ferry. There are two ferry companies. Both are almost the same prices and you can pay cash too. The routes differ though. The good point about the ferry is that after you finish the Three Moons, you can then disembark on another side of the lake. This will help save time and costs. Remember to bring along a one CNY note, where the image on the note is exactly as that of the lake. See the video.

The island is accessible easily by boat. Upon arrival, you are hit with a huge sensation of calming. There is an island in a lake in an island in a lake, where fish gather, but we couldn't see them due to it being winter. Recommend coming during Spring or Autumn
Oofing G — Google review
Took ferry from the harbour near the West Lake music fountain to the island. Ferry fee including the island entrance and the ferry off the island is CNY70 per person. A walk around the island took about 30min. There a 3-4 ferry point off the island going to different part of West Lake.
Young G — Google review
Beautiful small island in the middle of West Lake, just a short and enjoyable boat ride (make sure you get a front or window seat for pictures) and you can spend some time contemplating the well maintained gardens, pools, plants, pathways and small bridges. It does get crowded during weekends and holidays, expect long lines and queuing, but if you want some peace, go early morning and during the week. Highly recommended. Must see while visiting West Lake.

Three Pools Mirroring the Moon is a peaceful and picturesque spot on West Lake in Hangzhou. The small pagodas rising from the water create a magical view, especially at sunset. A must-see place for nature lovers and photographers visiting the city. Calm, scenic, and unforgettable.

It is one of the iconic place of China. I heard that lot of stories behind this west lake. Needs half day to walk around the lake, it will be a good experience. 60¥ for visiting pagoda, by board riding only we can see moon pillars. I saw both day and night view, feel like a lucky guy.
Thangamari — Google review
Three Pools Mirroring the Moon (三潭印月) is one of West Lake’s most celebrated Ten Scenes, famed for its poetic beauty and unique optical illusion. The name comes from three small stone pagodas standing in the water near Lesser Yingzhou Islet, first built during the Northern Song Dynasty. Originally, these structures were practical—they marked a “no-planting” zone to protect certain waters from excessive aquatic growth. But over time, they became woven into the lake’s cultural and artistic legacy. The magic happens on moonlit nights, especially during the Mid-Autumn Festival. Candles are placed inside the hollow pagodas, and their light shines through small round openings on the sides. These points of light reflect off the water, creating the illusion of many moons—some from the sky, some from the candlelight, and some from the interplay of light and ripples on the lake’s surface. The effect is a dreamy scene where the “real” moon and countless “mini-moons” dance together on the water, inspiring poets, painters, and travelers for centuries.

Yue Fei Temple is a historical site in Hangzhou dedicated to the revered Southern Song dynasty General Yue Fei and his son. The temple features statues, tranquil gardens, and the tombs of Yue Fei and his son, Yue Yun. It's a place to learn about the war hero's loyalty and honor through displays of shrines dedicated to him, his son, and loyal subordinates. The temple also showcases two kneeling statues of his enemies in front of his tomb.
You don't see many Yue fei temples around and this one have his tomb. A true figure of Chinese values that the young need to learn about. It's not a large place but lots of information about Yue fei, so spend an hour or so here to embody yourself with wisdom and spirit. Make this visit part of your trip in xihu lake! After that, hop on to leifeng pagoda or vice versa.

Nestled in the embrace of Hangzhou, the Yue Fei Temple stands as a poignant tribute to the celebrated Song Dynasty general, Yue Fei. This historical site is more than just a collection of buildings; it's a journey through time, a place where the echoes of valor and patriotism resonate with every step. As you wander through the temple grounds, the meticulously preserved architecture and serene courtyards create a tranquil atmosphere. The main hall, dedicated to Yue Fei, houses a striking statue of the general, his gaze fixed with determination. Surrounding the hall are various exhibits that narrate his life, from his early days to his tragic demise, offering visitors a deep insight into his unwavering loyalty and military prowess. The temple's significance goes beyond its historical importance; it serves as a reminder of the enduring human values of courage, integrity, and sacrifice. A visit to the Yue Fei Temple is a moving experience, offering a unique opportunity to connect with China's rich history and pay homage to one of its most revered heroes. ✨ Credits to a wonderful Chinese friend of mine ✨

Yue Fei was one of ancient china's most revered warriors and this is a temple to honor his name. Notable at this temple are the shrines dedicated to him, his son, and his loyal subordinates, as well as his tomb, in front of which there are 2 kneeling statues of his enemies. If you are not interested in history there are also a few gardens here that are very pretty, especially when the cherry blossoms sprout in springtime.

Young G — Google review
In the wake of the "Four Olds" campaign that ignited in 1966, middle school students in Tangyin County, Henan Province, targeted the legendary figure of Yue Fei, a historical hero known for his resistance against foreign invaders. These young revolutionaries stormed the Yue Fei Temple, dismantling statues of Yue Fei and his comrades, while also toppling the kneeling iron figures of Qin Hui and other so-called "traitors." They didn't stop there; they methodically obliterated ancient inscriptions, erasing centuries of cultural heritage with reckless abandon. In Hangzhou, where Yue Fei's legacy was more pronounced, the fervor against him intensified. The Red Guards there took their zeal to an appalling extreme, exhuming Yue Fei's tomb and transforming what was once a revered mausoleum into a dismal pit. His remains were desecrated, reduced to ashes scattered without reverence or remorse. The subsequent renovation in 1979 stood as a mere façade, a hollow representation of a past that had been violently stripped away. This episode serves as a stark reminder of how political movements can distort historical narratives and cultural symbols. The destruction of Yue Fei's legacy reflects not only a tragic loss of history but also a broader commentary on the dangers of ideological extremism. It raises questions about how we remember our heroes and villains, and how easily passion can lead to destruction. In an era where history is often rewritten or forgotten, the fate of figures like Yue Fei reminds us that cultural heritage deserves preservation — not just for its own sake, but for the lessons it imparts to future generations.

Dragon Well, also known as Long Jing Tea, is a must-visit destination for tea enthusiasts. The area boasts beautiful tea plantations nestled around the hills, with the village located at one of the most popular tea hills called 'lion.' Visitors can learn about the different grades and flavors of Long Jing tea, watch demonstrations on how to make a pot of this exquisite green tea, and even taste samples.
Not precisely the place but you can take cab or bus to this location and explore the town and tea fields here. There is a resturant called 82 near this area, the view from there around sunset is very calming. Had a cold tea along with matcha cheesecake - good day for desert. Check the temperature and humidity and pack accordingly. Went here mid-september ended up sweating few buckets. There is a museum uphill (5 minutes cab or 35 minute walk) attached to the museum is greenery to be explored along with mosquitoes so pack and plan accordingly. If you are a slow explorer you will end up spending half a day till sunset in this region and will find things to do. And yes - try the tea i think its famous for that :p

The tea are planted around the hill, there are five most popular tea hills, and the village in located at the one called "lion", one of the best among others. Typically the taste is different by when they pick the tea leaf. All the villagers are promoting their tea when you walk around, it's OK to try but be aware when you want to buy, the price of "longjing" tea vary a lot depending on the grade. It could be up to 3000rmb per half kg, or as cheap as 100rmb/500g. Perhaps it's better to bring along expert if you don't want to be cheated.

The multimedia performance show is wonderful, with flame, waterfalls flooding the stage, warriors flying in on ziplines and besieging a massive castle, a noble hero fighting off the invading hordes while finding time to save a baby randomly on the battlefield. Clowns, acrobats, contortionists and lots of scantily clad dancers. The theatre seats a thousand, for multiple shows every day, and was packed on the Monday evening we were there. Brilliant.

The park also boasts various structures such as the Pagoda of Six Harmonies and offers picturesque views of Flying Clouds over Jade Emperor Hill. It's a serene and picturesque destination just off West Lake, providing a peaceful escape from the crowds.
Wow this park amazing. The down area of the park is like a normal botanical garden but if you go inwards past the tea house, there is a path to a beautiful jungle hike with stairs. It's an easy hike through the forest to the top of the hill. At the tip you can see a good view point. There are many paths in the hike but there are maps all along so it's easy to navigate

A garden by the West Lake. It was beautiful with meandering lakes, rocks, and grass field. However, because I went in December, there were no flowers or lush-green trees. I wish I came here in the Spring to see all the colorful plants to awe upon. Even though it was a winter season, I saw many couples posing for their wedding photos. Imagine how beautiful it would be in the spring and summer! I will definitely recommend this place to go in the Spring!

Adjacent to the Yue Fei Temple lies the Tomb of Yue Fei, a solemn and reflective site that marks the final resting place of the celebrated general. This location is not merely a burial ground; it's a powerful symbol of remembrance and a testament to the enduring legacy of Yue Fei's patriotism and sacrifice. The tomb itself is a simple yet dignified structure, reflecting the humility of the man it honors. The site is enhanced by the presence of statues of those who were responsible for his death, forever kneeling in front of his tomb, a stark reminder of the injustice he suffered. Yue Fei (1103 - 1141) came from Tangyin in Xiangzhou of today's Henan Province. He was a great general famous for wars against the Jin Dynasty (1115 - 1234) in the Song Dynasty (960 - 1279). After he joined the army, he and his troops continuously won wars against the Jin. However, after Yue and his army had recovered most of the lost territory, Emperor Gaozong (1107 - 1187) embraced the evil plot of Qin Hui (1090 - 1155, Prime Minister of the Song Dynasty) and surrendered to the Jin. As a result, he was falsely accused and later secretly killed in jail. A few years later, the wrong was put right when Emperor Xiao Zong (1163 - 1189) came to power. The tomb was built in memory of this great hero. Yue Fei is always considered as a national hero. The Tomb of General Yue Fei has been demolished and renovated several times. The existing one was rebuilt in 1715 in the Qing Dynasty (1644 - 1911) and comprehensively repaired in 1979.

The City God Pavilion is a traditional Chinese-style pavilion in Hangzhou, offering panoramic views of Wu Hill and the city. Located near West Lake, it sits atop Wushan Hill and is surrounded by nature. The pavilion features exhibits showcasing Hangzhou's culinary heritage and allows visitors to taste local delicacies, take cooking lessons, and participate in various activities. It's a must-visit destination for those interested in experiencing the rich cultural and culinary traditions of Hangzhou.
This building was built in 1999, luckily it's not its historical significance that is important. The building is just very unique looking and has a stunning view of West Lake and the surrounding city of Hangzhou. I've been to a lot of pagodas, temples and pavilions in Asia and none of them look like this one. It is iconic, despite not being old at all. It cost 30 RMB to get into the upper part of Wushan Hill that features this pavilion and it is absolutely worth it.

Little park close to west lake area with a pavilion on the top. The park area is beautiful with lots of ancient trees. Can walk around and have many viewpoints around the area. To go to the god pavilion itself you need ti buy tickets which is pretty expensive relative to what you will get to see. So it's better to wlak through the park but don't go to the pavilion as it's better to see the pavilion from outside than from within.

Hangzhou Safari Park, located in Hangzhou, China, is a popular destination for families. The park offers an opportunity to enjoy the countryside while learning about science and ecology. Visitors can witness a harmonious atmosphere between people and animals, fostering a return to nature. Although some find the park's size comparable to an ordinary zoo, it still provides an enjoyable experience with its highlight being the quality theater performance featuring impressive acrobatics.
My visit to Hangzhou Fuyang Safari Park was absolutely incredible! The park is beautifully designed, offering a perfect blend of natural scenery and wildlife encounters. The animal exhibits are spacious and well-maintained, showcasing a diverse range of species in habitats that closely resemble their natural environments. The safari ride was a highlight—getting so close to lions, tigers, and giraffes was thrilling! The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, adding to the wonderful experience. The park is clean, organized, and perfect for families or solo travelers. I highly recommend it for an unforgettable adventure. Truly a must-visit destination in Hangzhou!

During my 5 hour visit on a weekday, I did not see any animal abuse whatsoever, in contrary to the reviews. In fact, the zookeepers were nice and playful with the animals. Although some enclosures could be renovated, most of the enclosures are spacious and fitting for the animals. On weekdays, there are little to no people, so rides and animal enclosures are virtually private. Very suitable for young children, would recommend.

I know this isn't the kind of place to respond to, but this is specifically to Atlantic 31, because they don't seem to understand the concept of free speech and actual racism. But then again calling us "white trash" really shows what kind of person you are. Nobody here is trying to make China look bad. We're just saying what we see. If anything, the park is making China look bad. Especially with China's animal abuse problem. And before you even try to say it, not everybody calling China's animal abuse out, actually think it's the citizen's fault. From what I've read, many people in China genuinely care about animal rights. And want animals to be treated better. However, the Chinese Government's refusal to grant more protection to animals allows more animal abuse to be practiced freely and without shame. And of course, not everybody is able to realize what is abuse at first glance. Also you can't dictate what kind of animal abuse people talk about. Just because the abuse happens in a different country, doesn't make it automatically okay. Culture and tradition shouldn't be considered moral at the expense of others. Animal circuses aren't even a part of Chinese culture. You're obviously defending this place out of your own bias. Also you're dunking on people's spelling when you have grammar errors yourself. Mister "Somebody is calling others that being this delusional" ;) As for the Hangzhou Safari Park itself, not much to say about it. The other reviews said it for me, but a small summary, the park was caught whipping their tigers, news agency reviews park, park owner denies the whipping was abuse. The park's enclosures are poor and not kept in good condition. Then, their leopards escape, and because China's economy was bad at the time, and it was the holiday, the park hid the escape from the public to keep sales. Also they have white tigers which are commonly associated with animal trafficking and are inbred to stay white. Overall, an abusive, poorly kept, exploitive, endangering, greedy, and irresponsible park. Definitely don't go, it won't be worth your time.
Stacey E — Google review
Please stop the cruelty to animals! The horrible footage of beating a white tiger so that it performs a stupid trick for tourists is all over the world. These are magnificent and rare animals that deserve a better life. Don't go to this park if you love animals

Hangzhou, located near China's east coast and at the southern end of the Grand Canal, is a safe and efficient tourist city. The city is just 200 kilometers from Shanghai, easily accessible by railway or highway in under two hours. The Qiantang River flows through Hangzhou and offers scenic spots like the promenade where people gather to watch light shows. The river also borders the city's central business district and is lined with hotels facing its banks and parks.

From the Ocean Sea also come daily supplies of fish in great quantity, brought 25 miles up the river, and there is also great store of fish from the lake, which is the constant resort of fishermen, who have no other business. Their fish is of sundry kinds, changing with the season; and, owing to the impurities of the city which pass into the lake, it is remarkably fat and savoury. Any one who should see the supply of fish in the market would suppose it impossible that such a quantity could ever be sold; and yet in a few hours the whole shall be cleared away; so great is the number of inhabitants who are accustomed to delicate living. Indeed they eat fish and flesh at the same meal. All the ten market places are encompassed by lofty houses, and below these are shops where all sorts of crafts are carried on, and all sorts of wares are on sale, including spices and jewels and pearls. Some of these shops are entirely devoted to the sale of wine made from rice and spices, which is constantly made fresh and fresh, and is sold very cheap.

Located in Hangzhou, the China Academy of Art is a hub for art and culture. The campus itself is an architectural marvel, blending traditional forms with modern design. Visitors can explore the free art gallery on the eastern shore of West Lake, showcasing diverse exhibitions. The academy also houses the Folk Art Museum designed by renowned architect Kengo Kuma. While some areas may show signs of aging, it remains a must-visit for art enthusiasts.
The Campus is an architectural treat. Various traditional forms are reinvented that houses the different disciplines and schools and workshops. The variety of textures on display is just bewildering. And of course, there is Ar. Kengo Kuma's Folk Art Museum on the grounds as well, and that, is a class of its own. Dont miss this place for a relaxing morning, leading up to lunch in one of its cafes or restaurants on the grounds.

If in hangzhou then definitely go for this! Its an hour or so light and dance spectacle. The whole ambience and visual aspect cant be captures through camera. Aftera while i stopped taking videos and pictures and just enjoy the performances. Its on the expensive side, had to skip a nights dinner so that i could fit this on my budget but definitely worth it :p The prices are similar to that dispalyed on trip.com. Make sure to book a day prior of booking through that. I got a QR to enter few hours after the payment on whatsapp. Come a few hours earlier around 4ish to explore the area nearby, there is a beautiful park and a temple which will eat up the time.

We loved this show. Lights, singing and dancing on water. The scrolling sign saying what was going on was in Chinese in our section (we could just see one in English in the next section) but it wasn't needed to enjoy the show. The show doesn't have a storyline (I've read that other similar ones do) but rather each scene is self contained. The only very slight detraction for me is that at one point the lights say G20 - 2016 as the show was re-vamped for that, which now seems irrelevant, but it was only one short moment. I thought it was well worth seeing especially as we were staying in the area anyway.
