Lingyin Temple, the oldest Buddhist temple in Hangzhou dating back to 328 CE, has been rebuilt multiple times due to damage from fires and warfare. The temple is a fascinating blend of ancient tradition and modernity, with millennial-pink cafes and modern monuments juxtaposed against its historic stone carvings. Visitors can embark on a tour of Hangzhou that includes a cruise on the lake, followed by a visit to Lingyin Temple for an immersive experience in Chinese Buddhism.
Awesome place! Amazing temple and surrounding area, sculptures in rocks... must to visit if you’re interested Hangzhou. Could spend there a whole day and enjoy the nature, spirit and culture.
Milena R — Google review
Breathtaking ancient temple! Founded in 326AD with 1,700 years of history, one of China's ten most famous Buddhist temples. Nestled in lush Wulin Mountains, truly lives up to "Temple of the Soul's Retreat". Impressive entrance hall and heavenly king statues. Deeply serene experience!
Phoenix Y — Google review
The place is nice but very busy. I enjoyed the climb — about 350 meters up to reach the temple at the top. The view and atmosphere are beautiful, but it’s quite touristic. There’s also a cable car if you prefer not to walk. It’s a bit expensive, yet still a very spiritual experience, though there were too many people for my taste.
Angela — Google review
Before coming to Hangzhou, I did a very good research about the place and everyone said that I need to see this place. I loved the architecture of the temple. The guide explained to us lots of details we needed to know. This temple has the biggest gold coated (33 kgs of gold) buddah. It was nice to see how people worship at this temple. The place can be very crowded.
Antoun B — Google review
The entire area is huge and you can take whole day to visit all the temples and peaks. Took a cab to the place, but you need to alight at the carpark outside and walk about 10min to the entrance. The road to the place was jammed too. The short taxi ride from Yue temple took more than 30min. There are also many interesting shop on the way to the Lingyin temple. There are also many restaurants at the main entrance. The shade and breezy wind help to make the visit more enjoyable in summer. Spent about 1-2hours only manage to visit Lingyin temple only. This temple alone is big.
Young G — Google review
We took the metro Line 1 from Wulin Square and the bus or you can book taxi go to here. A spacious pagoda with many stone Budda on the moutain
Helena N — Google review

Pagoda
Leifeng Pagoda, originally constructed in 975 A.D., is a five-story tower with eight sides located on Hangzhou's Sunset Hill, south of the West Lake. The pagoda collapsed in 1924 but was rebuilt in 2002. The area around the lake features ancient pavilions and pagodas such as Pagoda of Six Harmonies and Pagoda Baochu, offering pleasant tea rooms for relaxation.
Foreigners bring passport to purchase tickets. Grand and Beautiful rebuild. The old pagoda was burned and robbed by the pirates of neighbouring country and collapse. Which the remains are within the rebuild pagoda. Closes at 7pm. Check with staffs.

There is an elevator to make your hike sweat-less. Must visit if you are in hangzhou! It’s big and chill garden that you can take photo. Important tips: girl !don’t wear overalls cause they only have squatting toilet and bring tissue with you cause you need to pay for the toilet paper
Sad P — Google review
About a 5-10min walk from the entrance of 苏堤. Will pass by a Starbuck and a Chinese restaurant. Entrance fee to the tower is CNY40 per person. Going up the first level is the remains of the old tower. The stairs to the 2nd floor is on the left of the tower when you go up stairs toward the tower. From the 2nd floor you can take lift of stair up the tower. There is long queue for the lift, and the lift does not go to the top floor. You will still need to take the stairs for to the top floor. The view at the top is good, but a little crowded even on weekday. You get an all round view of West Lake and it’s breezy. Went on summer, so was especially nice to take a short break to enjoy the view and cool down.
Young G — Google review
This pagoda has been rebuilt. The entry ticket for adult is RMB 40 and RMB 20 for under 18. It houses an air-conditioned museum with relics from the original site and also features nice painting sculptures depicting the story of a popular Chinese folklore based at this pagoda. The highest floor can be accessed using lift. The 360 view of the surrounding west lake and the Hangzhou city is breathtaking. One can take the shuttle from the entrance of the temple to go to other drop off points along the whole west lake. Shuttle fees ranging from RMB20 to RMB 80.
SweeYeaw G — Google review
The view from up here was spectacular. Each step towards the top of the pagoda transforms you into a wiser human being. You learn that when you walk, you will be tired. When you sit, you will get bored.
Leonardo T — Google review
Perched on top of a hill - the Leifeng Pagoda - offers a captivating sight especially when viewed from the West Lake minutes after sunset and especially during Blue Hour
Gan K — Google review
You should visit here when you are in Hangzhou. 1st and 2nd floor are old temple relics. Using elevator to go up the highest, you will see the best view of west lake

Nature & Parks
Xixi National Wetland Park, often referred to as the "kidney of Hangzhou" due to its cleansing properties, is a picturesque destination located just a 20-minute drive from West Lake. This expansive park boasts an array of ponds, lakes, swamps, and villages dating back to the Han dynasty. Visitors can immerse themselves in the vivid cultural heritage and witness ancient crafts such as silk farming and book engraving.
Pleasant park with lots of walking paths. Plenty of small restaurants within the park boundary. We stayed overnight at a charming hotel called the Xixi Fan Yuan Hotel (凡云酒店) which was walking distance to a museum, a “walking street” with eateries and arts and craft shops.
D W — Google review
It's a very big natural park with greenery & colors. Different types of Trees, Flowers, mini streams pond available. Also mini Tulip festival happens in April. Avery good place to pass a day with Family & kids. Amazing place.
Md. R — Google review
Xixi national werland Park is really a treasure, it’s a very big park so I walked a lot. The place is tranquil and beautiful and it seems to go back in time. I had fun searching for shrines, little houses and bridges 🌳🦋
Laura L — Google review
Nice big wetland with canals for boat rides but unfortunately the guides on the boats don’t speak any English. Also where are all the birds? A wetland park like this should be teeming with water birds, but all I have seen so far is one duck and one Herron. Plenty of places to buy food and drinks at the boat piers. Finally if you have difficulty walking the paving of the footpaths is quite uneven.
Chris P — Google review
It is a local park and attraction. CNY 80 entrance fee, which I thought is a bit high. There isn’t much to see. The staff at the information counter isn’t too helpful and patient. Maybe it is nicer during spring time when flower blossom.
Henry K — Google review
Huge national park. Nice during sunny weather but not my top priority. Join a boat tour if weather and time allows.
Daniel — Google review
A city park in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province. It is full of lakes, ponds, streams and greenery. A lovely place to walk and there is a lot of wildlife there, despite what some reviews say. I saw invertebrates, amphibians, birds, fish, and one mammal (a bat) in the space of about 3 hours. There are also plenty of food vendors, shops, and some museums and art exhibitions. Entry to the park is free, but the boat trips, hot air balloon, and Gao's mansion all cost, I think. Well worth a visit if you are in or near Hangzhou.
James C — Google review
What a beautiful wetland park, and the ticket is free. The scenic area is very large. We stayed at the Sheraton Hotel next to it and spent 6 days visiting the park. We took a walk in the park every morning. It was full of green trees, birds and flowers. It was a pity that there was too little tourist content available on Google Maps. Basically, there was no information on this map. I hope foreign tourists will download local maps. Hangzhou has a lot of food and attractions.

Nice zoo with plenty of animals: pandas, lions, tigers, bears, panthers, leopards, cobras, sea turtles, and way more. Takes a good 3 hours to cover everywhere. There are lots of snacks and food for sale as well. Great place to bring children. Would recommend!
Jeff C — Google review
A lovely walk through some gorgeous enclosures however was v unhappy with the size and state of some of the enclosures. A clear disparity between the good and the bad. The red panda enclosure was amazing but most of the rest of them weren't. Upsetting to see.

It is worth going to just to see the 2 wonderful, beautiful Pandas..After the Zoo,take a taxi to Westlake..It is not far..Then get on a Vehicle that takes you all the way around the Lake and it is so cheap, maybe $5....I found the humid heat too hot to walk.At nights it is so beautiful with all the lights.Hangzhou is a wonderful, modern city.Quite extraordinary...Lou Smith

Discover the serene beauty of Meijiawu Tea Village, nestled in the hills surrounding West Lake in Hangzhou. This village is renowned for its high-quality tea plantations, particularly Longjing tea, also known as dragon tea. Visitors can witness the process of collecting and producing this famous tea while exploring terraced hillsides adorned with lush greenery. Meijiawu offers a tranquil setting for plantation tours, tastings amidst picturesque gardens, and leisurely walks through the verdant fields.
The tea they are selling is definitely a 10/10. The taste is very good and refreshing. The price is not cheap but the taste and quality is there. There is a lot of health benefits and you can feel it after a long time drinking the tea. The place is good and would highly recommend their tea.
Josh — Google review
The stunning tea plantations in Hangzhou are truly a sight to behold, particularly famous for producing some of the finest Dragon Well Green Tea. The lush, rolling hills covered in vibrant tea bushes create a picturesque landscape that feels serene and inviting. Visiting this area is an absolute must for tea lovers and anyone looking to experience the rich culture of tea production. You can enjoy guided tours, learn about the meticulous growing and harvesting processes, and of course, savor the exquisite flavors of freshly brewed Dragon Well tea right on the plantation. It's an enchanting destination that offers a perfect blend of natural beauty and cultural significance.

What a relaxing atmosphere, we were lucky to have a pleasant visit, we could take a walk as it was not too sunny. The village is very beautiful with tea plantations and little stream flowing through it. We went by bus, but you can take taxi too. A lot of hiking opportunities there, we went with our baby so we kept to road side only.
Sana K — Google review
It’s an old tea village that’s now turned into attraction for tourist. It’s part of the usual tourist tour itinerary. They will sell you hard on the tea and the pills. The tea quality is good but very expensive. You have to negotiate hard to get better price. Unless you have lots of extra time, I would skip this place.
Sendi W — Google review
If you want to get some dragon well tea that is quite good and possibly some of the best grown this is the place. Understand that the tea is not cheap but you are paying for a truly premium product. The grounds are nice. this site can be busy with several tour groups coming through. They also sell tea extract capsules.
Dennis H — Google review
Beautiful surroundings although our guide didn't have time to let us roam around. We listened to a talk about Chinese Tea (not a ceremony) and I bought some tea. They say this is China's best tea.
Wendy L — Google review
灵溪南路交叉口 This attraction is also known as Dragon Well Tea Plantation. Worth touring but do note that their tea is a premium product and probably the most expensive in China. And this company does NOT negotiate prices. A beautiful location: both the hills where tree is grown and their buildings. It is usually very crowded with bust tour groups by 10am... might be less crowded earlier and in late afternoon. I saw a parking lot only for buses; no idea where cars would park.
Peter B — Google review
I am a big caffeine and tea addict so I absolutely had to see these tea plantations the women wake up at dawn and start work on these plantations. It was absolutely beautiful and the tea was amazing. Great scent and so refreshing. I also met a woman from Australia who was studying medicinal effects of these teas. Quite fascinating. Also, the real Chinese green tea is accompanied with pumpkin and sunflower seeds.

This botanic garden is MASSIVE. Can easily stroll for hours here. Nice scenery all year round. There are quite a few entrances/exits so no need to worry about getting lost - just wander around and there is always a way out. There is a side exit to a 2km mountain trail of Mt Beigaofeng - just avoid this one if you don’t feel like climbing up. Admission is not free as of Nov 2023, I forgot the exact ticket price but it was quite cheap for sure.

Dreaming of Tiger Spring at Hupao Valley, also known as Running Tiger Spring (Hupaomengquan), is a renowned spring located just south of West Lake. Legend has it that the spring was discovered by a monk who dreamt he would be led to water by two tigers during a drought in AD 819. The area features a scenic forest park and a temple dating back to the 9th century, offering visitors an escape into nature.
World's third best spring, according to past Emperor of China. There are several JiGong temples inside so if you're a believer, do visit. Spend an hour here and then go over to the nearby liuhe pagoda or vice versa.

Hupao Temple is located in pleasant area of West Lake. It was built in 9th century, but was rebuilt many times. There is a peaceful forrest park around the temple, that give you a feeling you are not in the city, but in the wild nature. Many locals visit it not only for roaming the park, but also for Tiger Spring with fresh and clean mountain water. You can take an empty bottle with you to fill it with water there. Worth viiting in autumn, golden season.

(Translated by Google) Hupao Spring is located in the Huichan Temple in the Hupao Scenic Area at the foot of the White Crane Peak of Daci Mountain, southwest of the West Lake in Hangzhou. It is about 5 kilometers away from the city center and is known as the "third best spring in the world". According to legend, in the 14th year of the Yuanhe period of the Tang Dynasty, a monk named Xingkong traveled here and saw that the environment at the foot of the White Crane Peak of Daci Mountain was quiet and suitable for self-cultivation. When he built a temple here, he was troubled by the lack of water nearby. With the help of his disciples Dahu and Erhu, the two disciples transformed themselves into tigers and moved the Tongzi Spring in the West Lake to this place, hence the name "Hupao Spring". It is the best place for Hangzhou people to drink tea and relax, and is one of the "Top Ten Tourist Attractions in the New West Lake" in Hangzhou. According to legend, during the Tang Dynasty, the monk Xingkong came here to spread Buddhism. Due to the lack of water, he was about to leave, but was enlightened by a god in his dream. Two tigers transformed from Nanyue fairy children dug the ground on the mountain to make a spring, so Daci Dinghui Zen Temple was built next to the spring site. Master Jigong passed away in Hupao Temple. There are five reliefs in the temple, which are images of Jigong's life: Jigong Fighting Crickets, Carrying Wood from Ancient Well, Legend of Feilai Peak and Crazy Monk Sweeping Qin, which record the main deeds of Master Jigong.

(Translated by Google) There is also an interesting myth and legend about the origin of Hupao Spring. According to legend, in the 14th year of Tang Yuanhe (819), the eminent monk Huanzhong (also known as Xingkong) came here and liked the beautiful scenery here, so he stayed here. later. Because there was no water source nearby, he was about to move elsewhere. One night, he suddenly dreamed of a god telling him: "There is a Tongzi Spring in Nanyue. Two tigers should be sent to move it here." The next day, he saw the two tigers running away (planing). ) ground was used as a cave, and clear spring water gushes out immediately, so it is called Hupao Spring. Zhang Yining also gave Hupao Spring a religious and mysterious color in the couplet about the spring.

Yue Fei Temple is a historical site in Hangzhou dedicated to the revered Southern Song dynasty General Yue Fei and his son. The temple features statues, tranquil gardens, and the tombs of Yue Fei and his son, Yue Yun. It's a place to learn about the war hero's loyalty and honor through displays of shrines dedicated to him, his son, and loyal subordinates. The temple also showcases two kneeling statues of his enemies in front of his tomb.
You don't see many Yue fei temples around and this one have his tomb. A true figure of Chinese values that the young need to learn about. It's not a large place but lots of information about Yue fei, so spend an hour or so here to embody yourself with wisdom and spirit. Make this visit part of your trip in xihu lake! After that, hop on to leifeng pagoda or vice versa.

Nestled in the embrace of Hangzhou, the Yue Fei Temple stands as a poignant tribute to the celebrated Song Dynasty general, Yue Fei. This historical site is more than just a collection of buildings; it's a journey through time, a place where the echoes of valor and patriotism resonate with every step. As you wander through the temple grounds, the meticulously preserved architecture and serene courtyards create a tranquil atmosphere. The main hall, dedicated to Yue Fei, houses a striking statue of the general, his gaze fixed with determination. Surrounding the hall are various exhibits that narrate his life, from his early days to his tragic demise, offering visitors a deep insight into his unwavering loyalty and military prowess. The temple's significance goes beyond its historical importance; it serves as a reminder of the enduring human values of courage, integrity, and sacrifice. A visit to the Yue Fei Temple is a moving experience, offering a unique opportunity to connect with China's rich history and pay homage to one of its most revered heroes. ✨ Credits to a wonderful Chinese friend of mine ✨

Yue Fei was one of ancient china's most revered warriors and this is a temple to honor his name. Notable at this temple are the shrines dedicated to him, his son, and his loyal subordinates, as well as his tomb, in front of which there are 2 kneeling statues of his enemies. If you are not interested in history there are also a few gardens here that are very pretty, especially when the cherry blossoms sprout in springtime.

Typical ancient china architecture. Lots of tourist, especially group tour so it would be a little crowed and hot in summer. Beautiful garden!

Temple for the Song dynasty general. Went in to pay respect to the legendary hero. It’s a short walk to from the other end of 苏堤. You can’t use Alipay to buy the ticket. Need to use WeChat pay. Entrance is CNY25 per person.
Young G — Google review
In the wake of the "Four Olds" campaign that ignited in 1966, middle school students in Tangyin County, Henan Province, targeted the legendary figure of Yue Fei, a historical hero known for his resistance against foreign invaders. These young revolutionaries stormed the Yue Fei Temple, dismantling statues of Yue Fei and his comrades, while also toppling the kneeling iron figures of Qin Hui and other so-called "traitors." They didn't stop there; they methodically obliterated ancient inscriptions, erasing centuries of cultural heritage with reckless abandon. In Hangzhou, where Yue Fei's legacy was more pronounced, the fervor against him intensified. The Red Guards there took their zeal to an appalling extreme, exhuming Yue Fei's tomb and transforming what was once a revered mausoleum into a dismal pit. His remains were desecrated, reduced to ashes scattered without reverence or remorse. The subsequent renovation in 1979 stood as a mere façade, a hollow representation of a past that had been violently stripped away. This episode serves as a stark reminder of how political movements can distort historical narratives and cultural symbols. The destruction of Yue Fei's legacy reflects not only a tragic loss of history but also a broader commentary on the dangers of ideological extremism. It raises questions about how we remember our heroes and villains, and how easily passion can lead to destruction. In an era where history is often rewritten or forgotten, the fate of figures like Yue Fei reminds us that cultural heritage deserves preservation — not just for its own sake, but for the lessons it imparts to future generations.

Zhejiang Art Museum, opened in 2009, is a sprawling complex spanning over 35,000 square meters. Situated facing the West Lake and Wangsonglin Mountain, it features 14 exhibition halls along with a skylit promenade, multi-function halls, a library, Children's Place, art shops, and a coffee bar.
Excellent art, very simple but nice to look at. Remember to use WeChat to book your visit.

It is a simple but nice museum. When I went there, the museum was preparing for a new exhibition, so certain areas were unaccessible. Prebook your visit using WeChat miniprogram. The security guy was very helpful and did this for me when I got to the security check. It is a nice place to go to in Spring and Autumn. You should take a book to sit down and relax at the cafeteria after looking at the different exhibitions. Check the bookstore, which has some books in English and some nice souvenirs. There are also two museum shops with nice stuff. If you have children there’s a nice big room for kids to draw, colour and play. Then, you can walk through the park to Leifeng Pagoda. I did this in a hot summer day but it was nice and relaxed. I called a cab but there are buses going nearby. Unfortunately I did not check their numbers.

Zhejiang Art Museum is a nice and comfortable museum, good to come if you are art lover. And most of their exhibition are in Chinese only. The art museum located next to the West Lake, it's always good to come while you are visiting West Lake. The museum is spacious, quiet and nice design. They don't have many visitors most of the time, and this give you more space when you enjoy the art here. There is no enterence fee to the museum, but you have to provide your ID or passport

"Autumn Moon on a Quiet Lake" is an enchanting event that showcases the stunning Qiantang River tidal waves and offers classic locations to savor moonlit evenings during the Mid-Autumn Festival. It's best to plan your visit around this time, but it's advisable to avoid the holiday rush on October 17th.
The scene of the autumn moon on the calm Lake is located in the west end of Bai Di, which is a long and narrow garden along the lake. Right here, there are three sides facing the water, and the imperial pavilion, the water platform and other landscape are along the lake. You are in the heart of the nature, so serene and calm and tranquility. The viewing platform extends out of the water has a wide view and is a moon-watching resort on the shore of the West Lake. It is a great place for visitors to enjoy the beautiful scenery. Very nice!

Former Residence of Hu Xueyan, situated in Hangzhou, is a historical gem that offers a glimpse into the opulent lifestyle of the late Qing Dynasty. Constructed between 1872 and 1875 by the prominent merchant Hu Xueyan, this mansion beautifully combines traditional Chinese architectural elements with Western influences. Visitors can marvel at the intricate buildings, exquisite carvings, luxurious furniture, and lavish decorations within the residence.
We were blessed to look into the past as we walked the halls and garden of the former residence of Hu Xueyen. He was one of the richest man in Hangzhou with 13 wives. The villas of the wives were separated with small gardens. And a huge pond sits in the middle of the property. It is a beautiful house especially during the period it was built.
Travel T — Google review
A really nice visit during my stay in Hangzhou. The house is renovated nicely, the architecture and setup are really giving an acient time ambiance, providing the experience of travelling back in time. The highlight of the house is truly the pond, really beautiful and peaceful. Other rooms are also impressive with sophisticated interior design and furniture, even though they're a bit repetitve but always consistent, making an awe towards the attention to details for the construction of the house. Highly recommended if you're looking for a half-day activity in Hangzhou.

Located in the south of West Lake, Three Pools Mirroring the Moon is adorned with two-meter-high stone Qing Dynasty pagodas that are illuminated at night. The lake also boasts three man-made islands, including Three Pools Mirroring the Moon, Mid-lake Pavilion, and Rong Gong Islet. The largest of these islands is Lesser Yingzhou, also known as the Fairy Islet.
This place is really beautiful and serene. Worth the time and taking the ferry is easier than trying to conquer the whole lake from the side. Helpful tip for foreigners on latest situation. Getting to Three Moons, you need a ferry. There are two ferry companies. Both are almost the same prices and you can pay cash too. The routes differ though. The good point about the ferry is that after you finish the Three Moons, you can then disembark on another side of the lake. This will help save time and costs. Remember to bring along a one CNY note, where the image on the note is exactly as that of the lake. See the video.

The island is accessible easily by boat. Upon arrival, you are hit with a huge sensation of calming. There is an island in a lake in an island in a lake, where fish gather, but we couldn't see them due to it being winter. Recommend coming during Spring or Autumn
Oofing G — Google review
Took ferry from the harbour near the West Lake music fountain to the island. Ferry fee including the island entrance and the ferry off the island is CNY70 per person. A walk around the island took about 30min. There a 3-4 ferry point off the island going to different part of West Lake.
Young G — Google review
Beautiful small island in the middle of West Lake, just a short and enjoyable boat ride (make sure you get a front or window seat for pictures) and you can spend some time contemplating the well maintained gardens, pools, plants, pathways and small bridges. It does get crowded during weekends and holidays, expect long lines and queuing, but if you want some peace, go early morning and during the week. Highly recommended. Must see while visiting West Lake.

It is one of the iconic place of China. I heard that lot of stories behind this west lake. Needs half day to walk around the lake, it will be a good experience. 60¥ for visiting pagoda, by board riding only we can see moon pillars. I saw both day and night view, feel like a lucky guy.
Thangamari — Google review
Three Pools Mirroring the Moon (三潭印月) is one of West Lake’s most celebrated Ten Scenes, famed for its poetic beauty and unique optical illusion. The name comes from three small stone pagodas standing in the water near Lesser Yingzhou Islet, first built during the Northern Song Dynasty. Originally, these structures were practical—they marked a “no-planting” zone to protect certain waters from excessive aquatic growth. But over time, they became woven into the lake’s cultural and artistic legacy. The magic happens on moonlit nights, especially during the Mid-Autumn Festival. Candles are placed inside the hollow pagodas, and their light shines through small round openings on the sides. These points of light reflect off the water, creating the illusion of many moons—some from the sky, some from the candlelight, and some from the interplay of light and ripples on the lake’s surface. The effect is a dreamy scene where the “real” moon and countless “mini-moons” dance together on the water, inspiring poets, painters, and travelers for centuries.

The multimedia performance show is wonderful, with flame, waterfalls flooding the stage, warriors flying in on ziplines and besieging a massive castle, a noble hero fighting off the invading hordes while finding time to save a baby randomly on the battlefield. Clowns, acrobats, contortionists and lots of scantily clad dancers. The theatre seats a thousand, for multiple shows every day, and was packed on the Monday evening we were there. Brilliant.

Yue Fei (1103 - 1141) came from Tangyin in Xiangzhou of today's Henan Province. He was a great general famous for wars against the Jin Dynasty (1115 - 1234) in the Song Dynasty (960 - 1279). After he joined the army, he and his troops continuously won wars against the Jin. However, after Yue and his army had recovered most of the lost territory, Emperor Gaozong (1107 - 1187) embraced the evil plot of Qin Hui (1090 - 1155, Prime Minister of the Song Dynasty) and surrendered to the Jin. As a result, he was falsely accused and later secretly killed in jail. A few years later, the wrong was put right when Emperor Xiao Zong (1163 - 1189) came to power. The tomb was built in memory of this great hero. Yue Fei is always considered as a national hero. The Tomb of General Yue Fei has been demolished and renovated several times. The existing one was rebuilt in 1715 in the Qing Dynasty (1644 - 1911) and comprehensively repaired in 1979.

Went on a slow day, the temple was serene and a great detour from the general area. Quick history lesson, YueFei is probably the most respected general in Chinese culture. You'll see his statue around restaurants and shops among all Chinese diaspora around the world. Worth a visit of his tomb and learn about the history

A beautiful temple with shares a lot of history of China and the Three Kingdoms Period. Right across the street is a great lotus patch which also offers boat tours. If you would like to eat here, I would recommend a restraint across the street which has a red rooftop and is in Chinese. You should really try the dumplings!

"Orioles Singing in the Willows" is a charming park located on the southeastern side of West Lake in Hangzhou. The park features pagodas, lush grounds, and beautiful flowering trees that create a picturesque setting. Visitors can stroll along walking paths, admire the serene ponds, and relax under the graceful willow trees. The melodious songs of orioles can be heard throughout the park, adding to its enchanting ambiance.
This is a very beautiful park, with stunning views of West Lake as well as nice paths through the park. Parts of it get very crowded, especially the sections with restaurants next to the lake. But it is a big enough park that you can avoid the crowds relatively easily. This park is free.
M. V — Google review
Really beautiful park that sits right beside the Xihu Lake. To take a respite from the people walking along the lakeside, just take a short detour into this park. Every 10 steps you'll get a more beautiful scene, ranging from a large green space with sweeping willows, to a small stone bridge sheltered by pink blossoms. Amazing!
Leonard C — Google review
Singing in the willows also known as "West lake" is a beautiful little river/lake located in the city on hangzhou. It has beautiful walking path , bridges and historical attractions. Also they have cute little speaks along the park that play music, I thought this was great! The buildings near by were the "old style" but they are tearing them down and replacing with newer buildings. Could be a good move if they keep the arcitecture traditional. If you are in the area I highly recommend visiting the hillside / castle wall replica . Very neat location!
Chris C — Google review
A quieter area of the lake. I'd AVOID this area during Chinese public holidays, it was packed when NOT a holiday !🥴
David M — Google review
Pretty walk. Pretty location by the lakes. It's a nice location to stroll with the family. The location is peaceful, there are amenities for coffee and the restroom is clean (you have the option of a toilet with a seat!) If I were to give it a Bay Area equivalent, I'd call it a Palo Alto neighborhood. Pretty and obviously prosperous (I saw a Ferrari dealership by the lake) but not ostentatious.
Luke C — Google review
Just an area with some planted willows. Not that significant of a place to go there for it, itself. But generally the whole area around the west lake is beautiful and this is small section of that area. You'll pass by without even noticing it much.

Hangzhou Museum is a small but fascinating museum with valuable exhibits. While some signage may not be translated into English, it offers an informative and interesting experience for Western visitors. The museum features a unique stamp collection that stands out from those found in America. Additionally, the museum is free to enter, making it a worthwhile stop during a visit to Hangzhou.

Good exhibit themes, items, and design. However, there is almost no English or any other non-Chinese language signage. QR code intros either don't work or are Chinese only, interactive digital displays are Chinese only. For a major museum in one of China's biggest cities and a major global tourist destination, this seems odd. The message would seem to be "Chinese Only". My Chinese reading ability is decent, but the vocabulary in museums is often very technical and even needs explanation for native speakers.

Wushan Tianfeng is a small hill located near Wushan Square in Hangzhou. It offers a beautiful and romantic setting, perfect for spending the day exploring. The nearby Hangzhou Museum and City God Pavilion scenic area provide insight into local culture and history, with many signs explaining the stories behind the complex. While it can get crowded on weekends, it's still a great place for hiking. Visitors have described it as quiet, comfortable, and well worth a visit.
吴山天风 (Wúshān Tiānfēng) is a poetic term used to describe the scenic and natural beauty of Wushan Hill (吴山). It literally translates to "Wushan Heavenly Winds" and it refers to the refreshing breezes and the pleasant, tranquil atmosphere experienced atop Wushan Hill. If you're looking for a less touristy area near Qinghefang Historical and Cultural District, this is it. It is a very charming park full of pretty traditional-style buildings and mountain paths. There's a few museums as well. The upper part of the park costs 30 RMB to enter and contains the City God Pavilion as well as some other attractions. I thoroughly enjoyed my time here.

Yellow Dragon Cave, situated at the northern base of Qixia Ridge in Zhejiang, is a natural wonder steeped in legend and history. According to folklore, a monk from Yellow Dragon Hill in Jiangxi Province decided to construct a temple here during the Southern Song Dynasty. It is said that a yellow dragon appeared and struck the ground, transforming the area into what it is today.
Nice tranquil place where locals hang out playing hacky sack, dancing, doing tai chi, and singing.

(Translated by Google) Buy an admission ticket and enter. The park is surprisingly large and perfect for a walk. I was lucky to come across a place where Song plays were being performed. It is a cloister-style garden where you can walk around the pond and directly below the waterfall, and the ``golden dragon head'' at the top of the waterfall can only be seen from the pond side. The Dokan (temple) is located on the top of the mountain, so please consider your physical strength before going sightseeing. When you finish sightseeing and start walking outside the park, you will come across a sign (←Yuewang Temple) showing the route over the mountain (=hiking) to Yuefei Temple. You can reach your destination in about 30 minutes on a well-maintained short cut course.
