Milford Sound, also known as Piopiotahi, has a rich history dating back to 1877 when Donald Sutherland made it his home. This stunning fiord in Fiordland was later recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Travelers flock to this area to take on the challenging Milford Track or cruise amidst towering peaks that plunge into the still waters. Adventurous souls can opt for kayaking, diving, or flightseeing trips to explore Milford Sound from various perspectives.
A stunning place to cruise through in New Zealand. If you haven’t done this then I’d put it high on your bucket list. We had one of the best days in 2 years for weather, last few times I’ve been there it has been raining and very low cloud cover so pick your time carefully. It’s very peaceful and an abundant of sights to take it. Lots of bottle nose dolphins jumping out of the water near the entrance. Near winter time the sound is teaming with waterfalls everywhere you look.

I visited in April 2017, and it was absolutely breathtaking! 🍂🛥️ Cruising through Milford Sound, the autumn colors on the mountains, cascading waterfalls, and serene reflections on the water made it an unforgettable experience. A must-visit for anyone who loves nature and stunning landscapes!
Nat J — Google review
The drive up to Milford sound and the cruise is worth it! Spectacular views!!! We were so glad the rain stopped, allowing us to enjoy the waterfalls, seals, greenery, mountains, and everything it had to offer. Honestly, no pictures could do it justice — the beauty was beyond anything we could capture!
Jess B — Google review
Unforgettable Experience at Milford Sound! The journey to Milford Sound is just as breathtaking as the destination itself! The drive through Fiordland National Park offers stunning mountain views, waterfalls, and lush forests. We stopped at several viewpoints along the way, and each one was more incredible than the last. Make sure to give yourself plenty of time to enjoy the scenery before you reach the Sound. The Milford Sound cruise was the highlight of our trip. The sheer cliffs, cascading waterfalls, and dramatic fjords left us in awe. We were lucky enough to spot seals and even some penguins along the way! The boat was comfortable, and the crew was knowledgeable, providing interesting facts about the area’s history and wildlife. If you're visiting New Zealand, Milford Sound is an absolute must-see! Highly recommend taking both the drive and the cruise to fully appreciate the natural beauty of this place.
Saxen Y — Google review
Absolutely stunning fjord! We couldn't stop marveling at the beauty of nature here, from the majestic mountains to the wildlife and waterfalls. I highly recommend visiting on a clear day to fully appreciate this perfect experience.
Mai S — Google review
Yes , this should be the 8th wonder of the world. This World Heritage site has so much beauty it's unbelievable. The cruise ship took its time and really gave everyone to have a chance to take their photos. Suggest you use a cruise provider as there are a few and don't drive there as its tiring and winding. Overall it's excellent 👌 👏 👍
Edward R — Google review
One of the most idyllic spots on the southern island. The entire road trip is simply magical; it's so beautiful it's indescribable. The boat ride is gorgeous, the dolphins surrounding the boat, the waterfalls phenomenal.
Carla S — Google review
I recently had the pleasure of visiting Milford Sound in New Zealand and it was an absolutely breathtaking experience! The scenery was stunning and truly awe-inspiring. The towering mountains, crystal clear water, and cascading waterfalls all around were simply incredible. The boat tour was the perfect way to see everything up close and personal. Our guide was knowledgeable and informative, providing us with plenty of interesting facts and stories about the landscape and wildlife. The highlight of the tour for me was definitely seeing the seal colony relaxing on the rocks. It was such a treat to get so close to these adorable creatures in their natural habitat. Overall, I cannot recommend Milford Sound enough. It should be on everyone's bucket list when visiting New Zealand. The natural beauty of this place is simply unmatched and it truly is an unforgettable experience. Thank you for an incredible day!

RealNZ - Milford Sound Visitor Terminal offers a unique opportunity to experience the stunning fiord with its variety of cruise options and combos, including kayak, boat, and flying experiences. The terminal is conveniently located just a 10-minute walk from the main car park and is situated along the Foreshore walking track.
We visited Milford Sound on a sunny day, which meant we missed seeing the full power of the waterfalls, but it was still a beautiful and unforgettable experience. There are always many tourists here, so it can get busy, but that shows how popular and special this place is. We joined the RealNZ coach from Queenstown, which was comfortable and well organized. If you plan to drive yourself, it’s good to know that the parking lot is not right next to the cruise terminal, and you’ll need to walk a bit.
Cooper — Google review
Was a wonderful experience, staff were helpful and friendly and was an easy process to get on the Milford haven boat through RealNZ.Was too expensive for parking, was outrageous at $30 ($10 an Hour) when you pay all that money to go on the tour and then you’re slammed with parking as well. The cruise was wonderful its self, staff are all so knowledgeable of the area and explained everything as you went. Seen wildlife, seals and penguins and so many wonderful waterfalls. Had a great time and a lot of photos and memories made. Oh and watch out for the cheeky keas!!!!
Haley B — Google review
The premium cruise was such a amazing experience. The whole crew was so nice and thoughtful. We had a nice sunny day with perfect visibility from the top. The menu they provided was also fantastic!
Logan B — Google review
Would definitely recommend Real NZ For The Milford sound tour. They keep you well informed and and takes the edge of having to drive (however if you do have more time around that area definitely worth a drive!) plenty of stops along the way. Commentary was mainly on the way to Milford sound and was very informative. The cruise was lovely around - it rain intermittently but without the rain we wouldn't have the wonderful waterfalls there! Fantastic experience! As it's a long day do pack some snacks!
Jess — Google review
Was really enjoyable. Very knowledgeable, friendly and we managed to see dolphins, seals and penguins. Really affordable. Even though it was raining pretty hard, the sounds put it on. Nice food onboard as well
Barlee N — Google review
This is one of the most incredible places I’ve ever seen. Our knowledgeable guide kept us informed and ensured we had plenty of stops during the five-hour drive to Milford and four returns to fill our bellies. The comfortable bus and large windows are made for great photo opportunities. Just a heads up, double-check your pick-up point on your documents. I booked through Flight Centre and the information was confusing. This caused me to arrive a bit late as I thought I was going to be picked up from my accommodation. Also, make sure to pray for rain at Milford Sound; it truly enhances the experience. I left my heart there.
Federica M — Google review
Highly recommend visiting Milford Sound with Real NZ. Travelling by coach makes the journey so easy. Great commentary by the driver and making stops along the way just adds to the anticipation of seeing the beauty of the fiord. So many seating options on the boat with a great selection of food and beverages. 5 ⭐️ experience!!!!
Yvette O — Google review
Absolutely incredible. The rain made the whole experience even more magical! Waterfalls everywhere, mist rolling over the cliffs, and the whole place felt alive. Getting soaked under the falls was part of the fun. The crew was great, the boat was comfortable, and the views were unreal. 10/10... a must-do in New Zealand. I’d do it again in a heartbeat.

Wow, absolutely incredible in every aspect. The place, atmosphere and location are just incredible. But you have to experience the restaurant. The menu is exquisite. My personal favourite is the beef tartare and the mussels. I was fortunate enough to taste everything from the menu and I have to say that it is all excellent. This place offers an absolutely fantastic experience! The view overlooking the mountains is breathtaking, and the breakfast was one of the best I've ever had. We were also really impressed with their commitment to sustainability in both packaging and food preparation. And seriously, we have yet to find any twice-baked potatoes done better than theirs.
Chee C — Google review
This was such an amazing place to stay, it was absolutely worth the splurge. We stayed at in a Mountain View Chalet, and the view was incredible. The room itself was basic but nice, and all the lodge staff were lovely. All the facilities outside of the room were clean and well maintained.
Lily H — Google review
The lodge was spectacular. Expensive, yes, but I think you get what you pay for. The mountain view room was gorgeous and the heated tiles were so nice. The food at Pio Pio was delicious!! It was so nice being able to have breakfast delivered to our room so we could sit and watch the view in the morning. Staff were also so lovely. We drove to the free parking for our cruise and then walked to the terminal but definitely could have walked all the way from the lodge. Would recommend to anyone wanting a little luxury!!!

One of the best campsites I have ever stayed in! The facilities were next level and always kept super clean. Great communal lounge area and kitchen with heaps of space for all campers. Perfect location for Milford sound tours. 10/10 recommend.

Perfect in many small details, from mosquito nets and window opening methods to a wine refrigerator in the room. Top quality restaurant, well experienced young and positive team. Points to improve: Please provide HOT breakfast. Unique place. Highly recommend!

Absolutely stunning location and well worth the price for our room and the service. We stayed in the riverside chalet and ordered room service for dinner. The meal was excellent, and our stay was very relaxing. We enjoyed great walks both in the morning and evening.

Staying at Milford sound lodge was one of the highlights of our trip. Such a fantastic location, beautiful landscape, spacious and well maintained chalets and what an amazing view from the chalets. Dining at Pio Pio was another great teat with such fine cooking and dishes and the breakfast was also delicious.

Mountain peak
Mitre Peak is an iconic mountain with a distinctive triangular shape located on the shore of Milford Sound. This middle-sized fiord, stretching about 13 kilometers in length, is renowned for its breathtaking scenery, with Mitre Peak being a major highlight. Accessible via bus, car, or flight connections from Queenstown, Milford Sound offers visitors the opportunity to witness stunning sunsets over Mitre Peak in a tranquil setting as most tourists and tour buses depart by then.
Looks great from sea level, but the best experience is the climb, also known as the vertical mile (1683 metres or 1.05 miles) to the top. The views are unmatched but be prepared to work for them. When it goes up, it goes UP!!! Not recommended if sheer cliffs and extreme exposure freaks you out.
Jordan C — Google review
I loved this was a smaller boat. Knowledgeable driver and just an amazing experience. They pulled right up and pointed out the sea lions and penguins as well as getting right under the waterfall. Plenty of seats inside and enough outside. Tea and coffee provided.
Stephanie D — Google review
One of the harder hikes I've e done but enjoyed it.
JAY P — Google review
Should be named Mighty Peak. Very beautiful. Beware of sandflies, particularly if you have allergies to insects, it’s two months passed and I’m still suffering from their bites.
Mohammad N — Google review
Pretty good view from the bottom but could do with not being so steep. If you fall from the top there's not much to stop you going all the way to the water, so that is something they could consider in the next design. And quite a drive from the motorway. Aside from that it was good.
Russell B — Google review
Iconic mountain, well worth a visit for photographers, the boat trips up the sound are also lovely

An iconic mountain peak that seemingly juts out of the back end of Milford Sound. The views are breathtaking and this is the picturesque shot that seems to always show up when you find Milford Sound photos. Beautiful rain or shine.

Bodies of Water
Bowen Falls, also known as Lady Bowen Falls, is a breathtaking 162-meter waterfall in Milford Sound. Named after the wife of one of New Zealand's first governors, it provides water and hydroelectric power to the area. The falls are referred to as Hine Te Awa in Maori, meaning "girl on the river," due to their resemblance to the plumage of the Te Kereru bird.
Majestic fall best enjoyed from a boat tour. Not even sure if it can be viewed any other ways than from a boat. Stunning!
Helena W — Google review
The sound effects and the visual spectacle of Bowen river tumbling downhill to meet Milford sound. Waterfalls are impressive and adds to the beauty of Milford sound.
Sajeev T — Google review
Beautiful and powerful waterfall. Flows 24/7 as it is fed by the glacier above. Take a kayak tour and get right up close.
Nick P — Google review
Beautiful Waterfall. You can see it from the ferry jetty but for a good look, try the boat cruise. We went after a heavy rainfall and the volume of water was awesome. My friends has climbed Bowen falls and took pictures from the top of the falls. I would love to do it some day.
Ravi L — Google review
Amazing views especially after heavy rain. Simply stunning
Daniel N — Google review
If you take one of the many trips around the sound you will get to see these falls close up. Impressive, maybe not so impressive if you have just walked the Milford track and seen those waterfalls but nonetheless worth seeing.
Jim E — Google review
The stunning Lady Bowen Falls is Milford's highest waterfall. It plunges 162 metres from a hanging valley into the head of the Milford Sounds. Despite its name, Milford Sound is actually a fiord, not a sound. It is also the only fiord in New Zealand that is accessible by road. However, its remote location, bounded by steep cliffs and dense rainforest, means its special features remain unspoilt. The west coast of the South Island is notorious for its high rainfall, and Milford Sound is no exception. Milford Sound is the wettest inhabited place in New Zealand, and one of the wettest places in the world! The mean annual rainfall in Milford Sound is 6,813mm, and it rains there on average 182 days a year. In the South Island, the prevailing winds off the Tasman Sea meet the Southern Alps. The resultant precipitation makes the West Coast the wettest area of New Zealand.
W E — Google review
Impressive waterfall, but you can't see it from the Marina. You have to take a tour to see it.

Milford Sound Foreshore Walk is a leisurely loop track along the sandy foreshore, offering stunning views of Mitre Peak and Bowen Falls. It's a popular spot for capturing iconic photos and enjoying beautiful sunrises. The walk is accessible to wheelchairs and strollers, making it suitable for families. Visitors can also spot wildlife such as whales and birds, especially with binoculars.
Easy loop walk near the paid parking, can complete in 45 to 50 minutes including the detour to the Milford Sound Swing and stops for photos. So, can factor in total 1 hour if you park your car at the paid parking. The main attractions worth spending time for this walk includes: 1. Milford Sound Swing - insta-famous scenic lookout 2. Milford Sound Lookout - the iconic photo location for most postcards of the Milford landscape. 3. Bowen Falls 4. Bird watching But do prepare for the following A. Sandflies - notorious for this area B. Strong wind - near the Milford Lookout and the way to Milford Swing C. Toilet only available at paid parking. Picnic tables available near the trail head/ parking.
Jo L — Google review
Cute and easy little walk along the sound. There were a few people doing the walk, but most people just walked along it prior to their cruises. Watch the tides as they come up quickly. It was quite cloudy when we got there for sunrise, but we stayed a few hours and it was very worth it. It was a bit buggy, but we had our bug nets so we’re not bothered.
Jacqueline Z — Google review
The weather was a bit cloudy but we still enjoyed this easy loop walk. Very flat and suitable for everyone.
Jon W — Google review
This is one of 4 National Parks located on the South West of the South Island Piopiotahi / Milford Sound. Patea / Doubtful Sound. Tamatea / Dusky Sound. Rakituma / Preservation Inlet. The first three were visited. The views were spectacular (Cruise Ship). We saw whale just off the Portside and birds. If your into the natural world take your binoculars. Beautiful morning mist and stunning sunsets.
Andrew R — Google review
Gorgeous, was quiet when we went. Lots of birds. Worth the short walk
Raichel J — Google review
An easy and interesting walk at the end of Milford Sound. You can see the waterfall from here. Quite flat, but not wheelchair friendly as there are area that's rocky. It takes about 40-60mins if you walk from the Basin carpark and back. Definitely worth exploring, you can walk as far as the beach goes. There are a lot of birds. No toilet here.
Line S — Google review
A great little walk and well worth the time. Spectacular views of Mitre Peak and all the rest. Best to time it for high tide if you can IMO. A well formed path and flat for kids and older folks. I actually visited in October 2021 - I just decided to add a review now. Without the international tourists, it was blissfully quiet, which made it even better. I assume that it's now gone back to being horribly crowded.

Stirling Falls is one of the two permanent waterfalls in Milford Sound, located in a rainforest that receives high annual rainfall. The falls can be viewed up close on a Southern Discoveries tour, where visitors can experience the majestic sight and feel the spray of the waterfall. Real Journeys also offers a close-up view of Stirling Falls, providing an opportunity for a unique glacial facial experience.
Nice falls. All the tour boats go right up to it so you can feel the mist or, in some cases, get completely drenched if you want. It was beautiful to see.
Eric S — Google review
Beautiful waterfalls, the cruise boats go close to the waterfalls, so you can see it close by and experience the spray of water. Go to the bow of the boat to get the full views of the waterfalls.
Sajeev T — Google review
Most boat tours take you up and close so that you truly can feel the power of the fall. One of the taller and stronger falls of the sounds, very nice!
Helena W — Google review
Loved it. Especially because I was standing on the port bow and the captain was inching closer and closer to the falls. At first the cold mist touches your face, soon after you are drenched. I moved none at all, simply covered my phone under my jacket in a Napolen pose, hand tucked under the coat and stood there all the time enjoying this once in a lifetime moment.

Discover the Milford Sound Swing, a hidden gem along the foreshore walk that offers stunning views of Mitre Peak. This swing has gained popularity on social media and is now featured on Google Maps. The swing is located near the beach, and finding it can be a fun challenge as you follow a less defined track through the trees.
What a cute little thing to find. A hidden treasure. The track is not long after the bridge crossing. It isn’t well defined but once you hit the beach you should see it. Just something fun
Elizabeth A — Google review
Insta-famous scenic lookout, story has it that this was built by a carpenter for his lover. The swing is wide enough for two but not really balanced, so sit with care. Not many people know about this, so we get to enjoy the place at peace. Direction: Go through the Milford Foreshore Walk, keep right at the fork. Shortly after, you will see a small path (though not obvious) on the right that leads to the beach. At the beach, there is a small peninsula at the far right (about 5 minutes walk). You will be seeing the swing by the tree. The walk is mostly flat but there are a lot of dried tree trunks on the beach, watch your steps.
Jo L — Google review
Picture depends on camera angle , lighting climate And weather. Careful : swing angle isn’t balanced and isn’t in good shape ; may be original was!! I wouldn recommend this spot. Not really mentioned in the visitor page
Shruthi P — Google review
Short walk from the parking lot, nice view facing the mountains.
Liana S — Google review
If it’s not a rainy day or if it hasn’t rained much in the days before, you won’t see many waterfalls and you’ll be disappointed — especially considering it’s not a cheap tour.
Gibran D — Google review
Just retied it! Maybe not as good as the original and it's a bit lopsided but definitely better than it has been.
Julia S — Google review
Awesome view for photos. Not that far away from the parking lot.
Maine F — Google review
The swing is one of those hidden treasures, and the track is easy to miss if you're not looking around for it. The track is soon after you finish the bridge crossing when you head towards the right of the loop. It takes you through the trees and isn't defined that well, but you can tell it's a path, then you'll head left once you get to the beach until you see the tree.

Cruise Milford offers a small-group tour at 2:45 pm, with an alternative scenic cruise at 3:15 pm on a larger vessel. The company is praised for its impeccable service and small boat size, ensuring a less crowded experience and perfect views of Milford Sound. The mid-November cruise departed with only about 15 other people, providing an almost private boat feel.
We had an amazing 2 hour tour with the Skipper and Crew! We saw seals, penguins, and various waterfalls. The crew came around offering to take our pictures with us in them. They served us refreshments and were informative about the details of the inlet. I’d easily recommend them to everyone!

Went on the Cruise Milford boat as part of my tour with Altitude Tours and absolutely loved it! Boat was a great size - not too big or small and felt like there was plenty of seating both outdoors and indoors, didn’t feel crowded at all. Crew were super helpful and friendly, appreciated that they were keen to have a chat! Even though it was a bit of a windy and wet day on the water the views were excellent and I had a great time! Favourite part was getting up close to the waterfall spray - amazing experience!!

Great tour with Captain Chris and Sofia (hope you get your extra biscuits) for our tour today. Lots of space on the 11:30 boat could move around freely. Clean toilets. Hot drinks and biscuits. Astonishing how close the captain could get us to the shoreline! Now thats expertise right there. Spotted a dolphin, three seals and a penguin and got us so close to them. Lots of cool information given over the tannoy. I don’t think we sat down for the whole boat trip! Sooo much to see! Would recommend!
Nadia A — Google review
Non-regrettable trip despite not being on the to visit list 💯 We were lucky to have good weather to start the journey; spotted family of dolphins, penguins and seal along the way. Started raining halfway thru and that made it an even better experience to understand that power of nature and how it has shaped the fiord and sound in New Zealand. Excellent commentaries shared by Craig and lovely Sophia who helped us w a nice photo to wrap up the excursion.

Such an amazing day out on the Milford Sound cruise. The place itself is unreal! Waterfalls pouring down from everywhere, mountains wrapped in clouds.. The whole experience felt easy and relaxed. The crew were lovely and a big shoutout to Matej who was awesome!:) Super friendly and made everyone feel comfortable. You can tell he really enjoys what he does.. Definitely one of the highlights of our trip!

Perfect way to cruise Milford Sound with a small family-run ship. Stay on the top deck to get the glacial facial spray experience at Stirling Falls. Captain Chris and Georgie made the journey a memorable one.
Cynthia C — Google review
Phenomenal experience from top to bottom. I would go back tomorrow if I could. The small boat allowed you to walk around and get the best views. Because of its size, we could get so close and were able to get doused by a waterfall, see a penguin, and spot a seal lion. The sensational weather certainly helped elevate the experience, but everything was top-notch.

Fantastic experience with beautiful views despite being a little overcast. Craig went above and beyond to show us the sights along the way, including seals and penguins and telling us tales of his Great White shark expeditions. Was the highlight of our trip down to the Fiordlands for sure. Would highly recommend!

Explore the stunning Milford Sound in a unique way by joining Roscos Milford Sound Kayaks for an unforgettable kayaking adventure. Paddle through the inky black waters and get up close to the seals basking on the rocks and magnificent waterfalls. The towering fiord cliff faces become even more majestic from the perspective of a tiny kayak. Encounter local wildlife such as seals, dolphins, and penguins while gaining a new appreciation for the sheer size of the surrounding mountains.
Rosco’s is hands down the best sea kayaking experience. The weather was perfect, the team awesome and the kayaking second to none. Our guide Jona was professional, insightful and guided us through an awesome route. Even got to see a seal and a couple of bottlenose dolphins too. Thanks Rosco’s!

Big thank you to Rosco's kayaking, we had an incredible time out on the water. The sunriser tour was relaxed paddling, and Ollie, our guide, was full of interesting information and local knowledge. Couldn't recommend the tour highly enough, particularly for those looking for a more unique way to experience Milford Sound than the standard cruises.
Mike L — Google review
Incredible day with Roscos! I was picked up from Te Anau by Olly who gave me all sorts of NZ insights during the 2 hour journey and allowed me a number of stops to take photos on the way. The kayaking itself was not strenuous and any beginner could easily partake, we were on the water for around 3 hours and really got to see such a huge range of wildlife, types of terrain, incredible views and a tonne of waterfalls. Being in the kayak you could really get up close and personal with cliff faces and go down little inlets that boats simply wouldn't have access to. Olly was a really great guide, very knowledgeable on the local flora and fauna and a good laugh too, fab guy. It was my favourite activity so far in my NZ travels, would highly recommend.

I have no words. The tour was incredible. They say Milford Sound is the eighth wonder of the world. I can see why. We were fortunate enough to have blue skies and calm water. We saw dolphins, seals and penguins. We also experienced a storm roll in at the last 15 mins of our 4 hour tour. We watched as the mountains and glaciers surrounding us slowly disappear. These memories will be permanently etched into my brain. Shout out to our guide, Ethan. He was super chill, funny and knowledgeable. Best day ever

We had the best time with Rosco’s Kayaks on the Morning Glory tour! Amanda, Ashley and I went out with Austin and Nazomi — they were awesome guides — super knowledgeable, easygoing, and fun to paddle with. We lucked out with glassy calm water to start the day and saw the trifecta of dolphins, penguins, and seals! Paddling under Sterling Falls (the best salt facial!) and making it all the way to the Tasman Sea was absolutely incredible. Such an unforgettable experience — couldn’t have asked for better weather, better company, or better guides. Highly recommend Rosco’s if you’re in Milford Sound!

Incredible once of a lifetime experience! We did the 3 hour tour and it was perfect. We got to see a penguin and a waterfall. Our guide Josie was fantastic and we learned a lot. We even got to meet Rosco at the end of the tour. The safety briefing was thorough and they give you a lot of layers to stay warm and dry!
H — Google review
It was a calm winter morning when we went kayaking. My five other friends and I had a blast with our guide Austin, who’s very funny and knowledgeable. He told us Māori stories throughout the journey and taught us how to ride the waves on kayaks, although we probably need more practice on that. Austin also took us to see a sea nearby! The waterfall was very pretty and we also went to the Echo Cave nearby. We got off our kayaks to get a closer look at the waterfall where we took a few group photos. Weather was quite pleasant. It was on the cold side but we were given fleece sweaters and thermal pants before the journey. 10/10 experience 10/10 view 12/10 tour guide 😍

Milford Sound Lookout offers stunning views and is a must-visit in New Zealand, especially for fans of The Lord of the Rings. The road leading to the fjord from Queenstown provides amazing scenery, making it an unforgettable trip. While at the lookout, visitors can expect to encounter cheeky kea birds known for their thievery and beauty. Boat excursions are available, taking tourists to the entrance of the fjord where they can enjoy sailing and observe wildlife on the rocks.
Pictures do not do justice. Cute and easy little walk along the sound to get to this spot. There were a few people doing the walk, but it was mostly clear for us. Watch the tides as they come up quickly. It was quite cloudy when we got there for sunrise, but we stayed a few hours and it was very worth it. It was a bit buggy, but we had our bug nets so we’re not bothered.
Jacqueline Z — Google review
The pictures do not do this lookout justice. Just a 5-10 min walk from the parking lot. Unfortunately the swing was broken :( but the walk and the views are absolutely amazing!
Jane K — Google review
Getting there is a bit of a trek, but once you're there - it's like stepping into a postcard – so worth it. The weather is a bit wild. One minute it's sunny, next thing you know, it’s raining. But that just makes the waterfalls go crazy. And if you hit a sunny day, the views are just unreal. The folks here are great – super helpful and know their stuff. They really make the trip even better. 10/10, would recommend. Don't forget your camera – you'll kick yourself if you do!
Anne J — Google review
This is one of the most beautiful places you will visit. The views are absolutely stunning. You should definitely go on a boat tour. There are no words to describe how stunning this place is. It's an incredible part of the country that you must visit if you're in Queenstown or Te Anau. While the trip on the bus from Queenstown is quite long, it is well worth it.
Arun C — Google review
One of the MUST of New Zealand, specailly if you are a lover of The Lord of the Rings. You can miss that place, specially the road that takes to the Fjord from Queenstown. What an amazing trip and views. There is plenty to do there like hikings and boat excursions that take you to the very entrance of the Fjord while you enjoy the sailing and animals on the rocks. Savage enviroment for such astonishing natural place. Keep an eye when the boat approaches you to the waterfall. It will be wet!!!!!!
David R — Google review
One of the most beautiful places you will ever visit.. absolutely stunning views. Definitely go for a trip on one of the many boat tours that are available, some people were also kayaking which would be another fun option!
Brogan — Google review
Stunning place and views. Even if the weather is not the perfect one (sunny day), clouds add some additional drama and atmosphere. One of the top spots on New Zealand to visit, even if the road to Milford is quite long😊
Beniamin K — Google review
The heavy rainfall and surrounding rainforest create a unique effect in Milford Sound – the top layer of water is fresh water, while the rest is salt water from the Tasman Sea. There is a terminal moraine deposit or ‘sill’ at the mouth of Milford Sound, leaving the floor of the fiord just 27m deep at this point (compared with over 300m deep on either side). This sill forms a barrier which stops big ocean swells from coming in, keeping the waters inside relatively calm. You will not get sea sick from heavy ocean swells from your boat ride. When the glaciers melted, vast quantities of rocky debris were left at the entrance of each fiord. These mounds formed a partial barrier when the sea level rose 6,500 years ago, and today they restrict the flow of sea water in and out of the fiords. Within each fiord, the circulation of water is confined to the top 20–40 metres; deeper waters may remain undisturbed for years.

The Milford Sound Underwater Observatory by Southern Discoveries offers a unique and fascinating way to explore the underwater world of New Zealand's famous fjord. This exclusive experience is only accessible as an add-on to the Southern Discoveries cruise, taking visitors to the country's only floating observatory in Harrison Cove.
Only an extra $20 from the cruise ticket. It adds an additional hour to the tour but this is good value if you love science. The instructor is very informative and passionate about the area. Very engaging with the audience
Ny龙(Dragon) — Google review
Very cool spot. We didn’t get to see too many fish/wildlife but it was a great educational experience.
Lisa — Google review
It really is worth booking with the boat company that offers the underwater observatory as part of their cruise. Make sure you do read what company you book with as only ONE company is permitted to stop and let you explore this really unique experience. It’s called “Southern Discoveries” So much information to read and really amazing to see the conditions that allows this deep sea coral to grow so close to the waters surface. The whole complex of buildings are floating and connected to the mainland with some very cool engineering too, worth seeing from the back walkway
Bryce J — Google review
Small but well created/ maintained floating observatory 10 meters below the lake. We got an opportunity to see various types of fishes, corals etc. The guide was amazing as well informing us about the rich flora and fauna quite unique to milford and how it is preserved. It's worth a visit if you are visiting milford sound.
Kiran R — Google review
Great cruise and underwater observatory. We managed to see some dolphins on the cruise which was a bonus. The boat itself was nice, was not crowded as we were on the last cruise of the day, has ample seating inside, but only a number of seats outside on the boat we were on. We got complimentary tea and coffee. We also went for the observatory and lunch option, although we weren’t told we had to get our lunch on the boat before we got the observatory which was a bit annoying, however the staff organised for our lunch to be waiting for us back at the start. The observatory was pretty cool, you walk down a spiral staircase to a level underwater with windows all around. Loads of fish and black coral to look at which was nice. We were told that the tour before managed to spot the dolphins! For the cruise, observatory and lunch we paid €80 each which wasn’t too bad. There is plenty of parking there if you choose to drive (and I would recommend this as there are some nice sights to see on the way).
Samantha C — Google review
We did Milford Sound cruise tour and they dropped off us at underwater observation. I didn’t even know this place was included on our tour. But I really enjoyed the experience here. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. Highly recommend this place.

Good experience but alot of your viewing might depend on luck and when the fishes come. Please note it is not an aquarium, it is an oberservatory so don't expect to see sharks or massive marine life
Winston Y — Google review
Pretty cool. Lots of information to read. Take note: It's not an aquarium, it's an observatory so what you see depends on the day, there's no guarantee.

Mitre Peak Cruises offers a unique experience in Milford Sound, using smaller purpose boats to provide close-up views of waterfalls, wildlife, and stunning scenery. This allows for a more intimate cruise with fewer people on board. The tour guides are attentive to spotting dolphins, seals, and penguins while guests enjoy complimentary tea and coffee. Additionally, the cruise includes commentary and often provides lunch.
Really unique experience, definitely would recommend booking in this tour. Milford sound should be the 8th wonder of the world it’s a truly magical place. The cruise and tour leader was amazing. The boat is smaller than other tours but perfect! You can get complimentary hot drinks and they even had oat milk!! Checking in was really easy and Erin was super helpful! Many thanks to you 🫶🏼 Definitely would recommend and I’d do this again in a heartbeat!
Jennifer T — Google review
We did the Milford Sound cruise with Mitre Peak Cruises, and overall, it was a great experience. The scenery is undeniably stunning – dramatic cliffs, towering peaks, and still, reflective waters. Our guide was fantastic: knowledgeable, passionate, and provided lots of valuable insights about the landscape, wildlife, and history of the area, which really enhanced the journey. We were lucky with calm weather, but due to limited recent rainfall, we only saw two waterfalls. Still beautiful, just not as dramatic as during wetter times. One major plus was the smaller boat size and smaller group, which made the cruise feel more personal and peaceful. It was a much better atmosphere compared to the larger, more crowded tour boats we saw out there. That said, while I truly enjoyed the experience, I didn’t find it quite as jaw-dropping as the hype had led me to believe – perhaps expectations were a little too high. Still, if you’re going to do a cruise at Milford Sound, I’d definitely recommend Mitre Peak Cruises for a more intimate, informative, and relaxed way to see this iconic natural wonder.

Sensational. We travelled by plane with Milford Sound Scenic Flights. The package included our Cruise with Mitre Peak Cruises, and wow, what an epic adventure. We did note we went closer to the waterfalls, and stopped and looked at wildlife more than the other boats. Overall a wonderful experience in one of nature's most beautiful spots. Thank you.

A great way to enjoy an awesome natural feature in New Zealand. Had a wonderful experience. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. The boat is well kept and had a good amount of space, so the cruise takes on just the right amount of passengers - it’s not over crowded when on the outside deck taking in the spectacular views and aspects of Milford Sound. The cruise stops along the way to see fur seals, the waterfalls and galciers, then heads out to sea. An awesome view when the boat turns around and heads back into the Sound. A fantastic was to see a truly natural beauty of New Zealand and this cruise certainly enhances the journey.

Our group went for the Milford Sound cruise. It was a lovely weather and the journey was great with accommodating staff and commentary. We got so lucky to see so many Doplhins, seals and penguin. The boat is not packed so everyone had a chance for a nice photo with the falls. They also offered tea and coffee which was handy for the cold weather. No food sold so best to pack your lunch/snacks

Had an amazing experience with Mitre Peak Cruises! The team handled the recent weather event in Southland so well — they kept us updated when the road closed and quickly rescheduled our 8:50am cruise to 1:30pm. The cruise itself was unforgettable — breathtaking waterfalls, peaceful sounds, and we even saw dolphins, seals, and penguins! Nestled in the heart of Fiordland National Park, Milford Sound Lodge - Campervan Park offers a unique opportunity to stay just minutes away from Milford Sound Cruises and the Milford Track. The lodge features luxurious chalets and serene forest campervan sites, providing an immersive experience amidst the stunning natural surroundings. As the only accommodation in Milford Sound, it's highly recommended to book well in advance, especially during peak seasons.
Campervan powered site. Well.. the shared facilities were one of the best we have used! Waking up to waterfalls.. it was spectacular! Multiple cooking and cleaning areas, folks cleanup after themselves which is awesome and the meal places were in abundance and very comfortable. Showers area were very clean, could use a hairdryer. Laundry facilities were great.
Sherms H — Google review
We spent a night in the powered site. We travelled one month around NZ and I can affirm this was the best place we stayed. All facilities are very clean and modern, the staff is amazing and the location is just... wonderful. A huge thanks to the staff, who helped us to rearrange the stay and cruise since the road was closed for bad weather, and thanks to Henrique for his educational and interesting guided tour which I highly recommend.
Chiara T — Google review
The only Campervan site at milford sound so it is very expensive compared to other town. Check in wasnt the great as staff seem not bothered to answer any queries and provide hand gesture. When ask whether can we get a closer lot nearer to amenities, they just shake their head without any reply. There is kea that stay on our caravan but it is friendly and didnt damage our vehicles. Toilet is clean but lack of shower room. Kitchen is spacious. Most people will need to check out early for cruise as they dont allow us to park after 10am. So we need to find parking near to the jetty. But for thosr who want to have more time explorinf milford sound staying here is great options to let u explore more. If you have more budget can stay at the lodge overlooking mountains and waterfall. Is definitely considered as luxury for Campervan status!

Great campground in Milford sound! Wonderful views upon waking up. Multiple bird visitors through the morning. Easy to get to the sound cruise launch points. Staff was all really nice and facilities were clean and well maintained.

Modern complex with good warm bathroom ensuite facilities. Not your typical military camp holiday park and probably worth the $100 powered camper site when comparing to other establishments around the country charging $50-70 per night. Also has a swish bar with cocktail hours and restaurant. Lots of friendly birdlife around.
K.J.P — Google review
Ideal place to stay when visiting Milford sound. Modern facilities, high end restaurant with excellent service. If you are driving a motorhome, make sure you get a spot without overhanging branches. It hadn’t rained for 12 hours, but the irregular dripping was like a chinese water torture.

It was a wonderful site, clean and well managed. The staff were very friendly. The toilets and showers were the nicest facilities I've ever seen on a campsite. There was a torrential dounpour on the night I was there and the whole site flooded, but that's due to the location. Bring some wellies/gumboots

Fantastic Stay at Milford Sound Lodge! We camped here in our Maui van, and it was an incredible experience. The campsite was well-maintained, with stunning views all around. Embark on a unique adventure with Pure Milford, the only small-ship cruise in Milford Sound featuring glass roofs that offer uninterrupted views of the stunning fiords, regardless of the weather. The friendly local crew provides insightful commentary about this UNESCO World Heritage Area as you relax in the covered and open sun decks. The onboard cafe/bar adds to the delightful experience. Additionally, passengers praise the scenic bus ride from Queenstown and informative commentary by the driver.
We took the coach from Queenstown to Milford Bound. The coach driver stopped at various scenic spots for us to take beautiful pictures. We even spotted a Kea on the way! Both of the coach driver and cruise pilot gave informative and educational information about New Zealand, native animals, nature, and Milford Sound. The staffs on the cruise proactively helped passengers taking pictures for them whenever possible. A lunchbox and free drinks are also provided on the cruise. I definitely recommend Pure Milford for those who don’t want to drive all the way from Queenstown. The experience is just amazing.
Li-Chen L — Google review
Went with Pure Milford. It was an amazing experience. Good food & great team as well. Views were breathtaking. Make sure you are there 30mins before the departure. It took us 5 hours to drive from Queenstown with a few stops along the way. Make sure you are prepared for cold winds and rainfall during winter. There are a few things that you need to be aware of if you are driving there. Make sure you keep at least a 5-second gap with the front vehicle as the roads are bendy and narrowed. Do not try passing the car in front of you on this road. (You'll be charged for dangerous driving) If there is traffic behind you, then pull over and let them pass. Be extremely careful while driving once you reach Fiordland National Park. Especially during winter months as there's black ice on the road. Your car may skid even with winter tires. Keep your speed around 40km/h on downhill. Btw, do not feed Kea and other birds.
Sanjaya S — Google review
Fantastic trip today. Super friendly staff and the captain for trip made it all the more enjoyable with his commentary. Perfect spot up the back out in the breeze and sun to enjoy the cruise up and back and the opportunity to get up close with the waterfalls. Couldn't have asked for a better ship to cruise the sound in. Definitely recommend taking this trip when your in NZ and adding on the flight there and back to take the hassle out a big vehicle trip.
Emma B — Google review
Did the coach from Te Anau and the cruise: well worth it! I'm glad someone else was driving and giving us information along the way. The road is magnificent but the road so unpredictable and closures happen often so it's nice not to have to worry about that. The parking is about $28 anyway and by the time you as the fuel, driving yourself doesn't save you that much money anyway! Our driver was in a bit of a grumpy mood, but did a good job after all. 😄 The crew on board pure milford were super helpful, attentive and friedly - a pure delight (Especially David and Florence) Despite the rain, I thoroughly recommend this experience.
Tim G — Google review
We drove in from Te Anau for our Pure Milford cruise — and honestly, it was the best decision we made. The drive was stunning, but don’t trust Google Maps on timing! It took over two hours with photo stops and winding roads, so leave yourself plenty of time. The 11am departure was perfect — hardly any traffic and a relaxed start to the day. The boat itself was modern, clean, and had plenty of great spots to soak in the views. We pre-ordered the picnic lunch for our family of four and were pleasantly surprised — tasty, generous, and great value. The scenery, of course, was absolutely jaw-dropping — waterfalls everywhere and we were lucky enough to see dolphins playing alongside the boat! The captain’s commentary was informative and easy to follow, but what really made it memorable was his sense of humour. The kids loved the jokes, and we got a laugh when he told everyone to "just follow the Aussies if you’re looking for the bar." Guilty as charged! We happily followed that advice and enjoyed a crisp white wine and a cold beer while cruising through paradise. An unforgettable day and a brilliantly run tour. 10/10 would follow the Aussies again. 🐬🍷🍺

Ticket collection and boarding went smoothly. The ferry has two indoor levels as well as outdoor areas at the front and back, allowing passengers to choose freely where to sit. The round trip takes about 100 minutes, during which the staff provide commentary on the features of various attractions along the way. There are plenty of crew members on board, and complimentary coffee is available. Overall, it’s a comfortable and highly recommended trip.

Fairy Falls is a captivating waterfall located near Milford Sound. It is best seen after heavy rainfall, when it flows gracefully into the sea. Next to Bridal Veil Falls, Fairy Falls is smaller but equally mesmerizing, especially after a few days of rain. The wind adds to its charm by blowing the falls across the cliff face. Although there are many waterfalls in Milford Sound, Fairy Falls stands out for its elegance and beauty.

"The Four Sisters" is a stunning natural attraction located in Milford Sound, New Zealand's South Island. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is known for its damp climate and heavy rainfall, creating the perfect environment for marine animals and rare species. As you cruise through the sound, keep an eye out for lazy fur seals at Seal Point, bottlenose and dusky dolphins leaping out of the water, and the famous Fiordland crested penguin with its distinctive orange beak and yellow eyebrows.
"Milford Sound米佛峽灣" is a famous destination on New Zealand's South Island, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and considered the eighth wonder of the world. It's a must-visit when traveling to the South Island. Before departing, it's important to note that Milford Sound experiences rainfall for about half of the year, and this unique characteristic adds to the mystique of this enchanting fjord. Therefore, I couldn't imagine visiting Milford Sound on a day with perfect weather. Here's a rough itinerary for the day tour: - 07:00-12:30 Depart from Queenstown to Milford Sound. - 13:00-15:00 Onboard the boat for sightseeing. - 15:00-19:00 Return from Milford Sound to Queenstown. You can choose to drive to Milford Sound by yourself, but the journey takes approximately four hours from Queenstown. To avoid exhaustion, I opted for a day tour. The Real NZ tour bus had large windows and skylights, making it perfect to enjoy the breathtaking scenery on the way. Since the journey from Queenstown to Milford Sound is close to four hours, the driver made a 30-minute stop in TeAnau for restroom breaks and some quick shopping. Additionally, the driver stopped at various viewpoints along the route for about 10 minutes each, allowing passengers to take photos at places like Eglinton Valley, Moon Lake, and even spot some Kea birds! I must commend our driver, who was not only an excellent driver but also a knowledgeable guide, providing insights into the region. We boarded a three-level sightseeing boat. Inside, there was a food and beverage shop. I ordered a Japanese bento, which was served at my designated seat, adding a touch of elegance to the experience. However, it's a bit pricey (43 NZD), so bringing your own sushi might be a more budget-friendly option. The boat had a radar map to show the current location and route. The charismatic captain occasionally used a telescope to point out penguins, seals, and dolphins. We only spotted penguins during our trip. The boat got close to the largest waterfall, allowing us to experience the grandeur of the falls. Please note that this is a rough translation, and some details may be slightly adjusted for clarity in English.

Was having a few drinks the night before in TeAnau and overheard this group of guys talking about how they had been to see these Four Sisters in Milford sound. They wouldn't stop talking about what absolute gushers, especially when it rains they were. And I'm all about a good time so I jumped in a bus to Milford sound the next day ready to try my luck! As my luck has it I couldn't find 4 sister's anywhere so I was a little disappointed. But i did jump on a boat cruise and saw these 4 water falls along the way. Which were quite nice. All in all it's a long way to go to try your luck but at least there's other things to do there while you wait for your bus to bring you back home.

Must visit when you are coming to Aotearoa New Zealand and enjoying the South Island. The four sisters is one of the lovely landscapes you will enjoy in Milford Sound. With your visit to Milford Sound, You will be enjoying the grandeur of nature, with its clear blue water, great mountains and hills, lush waterfalls and wild creatures soaking under the sun, in a 1.5 hours boat ride. We went then during summer so the weather was super fine! Lucky us.. It’s one of the famous tourist spots in New Zealand so better get the trip well planned. For sure you have to secure the ticket for the ride. There are many operators and they have various packages and schedules as well. Make sure you are present before the scheduled time. The trip can be very windy and splashy, when you are near the waterfall. Some trips even continue amidst the rain. We drove from Queenstown at that trip and we stopped in many interesting spots along the away. After enjoying Milford Sound boat ride, we drove to Te Anau and we certainly enjoyed our stay there as well.

Everywhere you look in Milford Sound is stunning as so worth the trip from Queenstown. The Four Sisters falls are gorgeous cascading from high above into the sound. Best views are from the many cruises available from the visitors centre but be sure to book in advance.

Amazing views, but be careful of the rain and wind around this area when you travel by the boat, it can get quite wet and cold.

The Milford Deep Underwater Observatory is a must-visit attraction at Milford Sound. It offers an educational experience about the area's history, geology, and ecology. The observatory is New Zealand's only floating underwater observatory where visitors can witness rare black coral. After the tour, visitors can enjoy 90 minutes of serene kayaking in Harrison Cove with expert guides before being transported to the kayaking pontoon.
If going to Milford Sound, it's definitely well worth going to the Underwater Observatory and to go out on the kayaks. I loved it and everyone I've met since that has done it really enjoyed it and said it was one of the highlights of their trip to NZ.

Dale Point is a prominent feature at the northern entrance of Milford Sound, where the waters of the Tasman Sea meet those of the sound. This point extends into the Tasman Sea and marks the left-hand side entrance to Milford Sound. Cruising past Dale Point offers stunning views, but it can get choppy as boats turn back into the sound. It's also noted as being closest to Australia, with Hobart just across the Tasman Sea.
Furthest point out of Milford Sound and into the Tasman Sea. The boat ride can get a little choppy out here especially as the boat turns around to head back into the sound. Stunning views all round. It’s also the closest point to Australia - straight across the Tasman to Hobart according to our captain 🚢
Niki V — Google review
Where the Milford sound meets the Tasman sea. The Milford cruises does their u-turns here. The views of the sea, the surrounding rock cliffs adds to the beauty of the landscape.
Sajeev T — Google review
Dale Point sits at the northern entrance to the Milford Sound and is where the exposed waters of the Tasman Sea mergers with the waters of Milford Sound. The point tapers from a height of around 1,520 metres at Rover Peak and projects into the waters of the Tasman Sea, just ahead of the left hand side dog-leg entrance to Milford Sound. Turn left into the dog-leg here (hidden from the open Tasman Sea) and you'll sale into Milford Sound. The point hides the entrance of the fjord making it almost impossible to see Milford Sound and it's for this reason that the Sound was missed by whalers and many expeditions including two lead by Captain Jame Cook. Dale Point is surrounded by sheer rock faces on either side.

Embark on an unforgettable cruise through the stunning 16km fjord of Milford Sound, where you'll glide past iconic landmarks like St Annes Point Lighthouse and the breathtaking Lady Bowen Falls. One highlight of your journey will be Copper Point, a fascinating location known for its striking copper veins that run through the rock formations. This narrow point is not only visually captivating but also notorious for its fierce winds, with gusts reaching up to 100 knots!
Copper Point projects into the waters of the fjord and is the narrowest point of Milford Sound. It gets its name from the veins of copper mineral easily seen running through the rock and nearby peaks. Tarnished green streaks caused by oxidised copper deposits can be seen on the steep rock wall.

Anita Bay is a stunning and tranquil destination that has been serving hikers for over 80 years, providing essential transport back to Milford. The launch service operates at 2pm, with additional departures at 3pm and 4pm, ensuring no one is left behind on their adventure. This picturesque bay marks the furthest point from Milford Sound wharf into the open sea, where it beautifully merges with the Tasman Sea.
This is a beautiful and wide bay with areas of large boulders and rocks, as well as a stream flowing into a shingle beach on the foreshore where small craft could anchor safely. Behind this there is a rock scarp which continues inland rising sharply and overshadowing the landscape. Dense woodland covers much of this area. Apparently Europeans visited this area as far back as 1842 in search of Takiwai, a translucent greenstone, for the China market.

Enclosed by glacial walls and granite cliffs, this secluded Fiordland valley served as a sanctuary where the supposedly extinct Kakapo bird was rediscovered in the 1970s.

Roscos Milford Sound Kayaking was an unforgettable experience. Completely recommend, we did both the cruise and the kayaking in Fiordland. Most people just do the cruise, which is great, but the kayaking gives you such a different, up-close experience. It’s definitely worth doing! We had Oscar and Ollie as our guides, they were informative, friendly, and gave us the perfect balance between learning and enjoying some peaceful time on the water within the Fiordland. Thank you guys! This is a must-do, no matter the weather!

Eglinton Valley, located in New Zealand, is renowned for its picturesque golden tussock-covered landscapes and served as the backdrop for the Misty Mountains in the film "The Fellowship of the Ring." The East Eglinton Track offers a challenging hike suitable for experienced trekkers with river crossing skills. This area boasts extensive lowland beech forests and is home to a variety of rare plant and animal species, making it part of a UNESCO World Heritage Area within Fiordland National Park.

It is a pretty area. You probably don’t need to stop. It is nice to enjoy as you drive through. If you’re not in a hurry then you can stop, but beware you may get stuck behind some slow campers. There are a bunch of small pull offs along the stretch, and it is nice if you get the lighting right.

Humboldt Falls is a picturesque waterfall located along a trail that offers stunning views of the cascading water as it plunges from a forested cliff. The walk to the falls is relatively short, taking about 30 minutes and meandering through lush greenery, providing ample opportunities to spot native birds. Accessible via an unpaved but smooth road, the journey to Humboldt Falls is suitable for all vehicles and offers a pleasant drive with minimal traffic.
A bit of a hike to get to the view of waterfall. After returning from the hike we took a detour to the boat ramp. Such a beautiful place. Hidden gem
Irene T — Google review
The road to get here is unpaved but very very smooth. Literally any car can pass and I think I went faster on this road than the normal Milford road due to no traffic. Google maps will significantly overestimate how long it will take you. Anyway, the walk to the waterfall is up hill but short. Not sure the payoff is worth it. You can only see the waterfall from across the valley. But if you need to burn some time I like we did, then go ahead and stop.

Humboldt Falls resides in Fiordland National Park near Te Anau in the Fiordland region of South Island, New Zealand. It is one of the highest waterfalls in New Zealand. This giant 275 metre waterfall is impressive and the track is 1.2 km in distance and takes around 30 mins return walk. They are the third tallest falls in New Zealand, falling 275 metres in three drops. The largest of the three drops is 134 metres high.

David B — Google review
Beautiful waterfalls that are easy to access. It's only a short and relatively easy walk from the car park up a well maintained track. The viewing area is quite a long way away from the falls, but is elevated to about halfway up the waterfalls, allowing you to look down on the pool the fall into. The gravel road to it is well kept and completely safe for any vehicle to access.

15 minutes walk to a platform, which isn't so close to the waterfall. One big waterfall and a smaller one to the right. The drive to it is on a unpaved road. It needs maybe 40 minutes to the car park. When you walk from the car park 3 minutes down the road, there is a nice river and the start from a great walk.

Monkey Creek, located in the Hollyford Valley along Milford Road, is a glacier-fed spring known for its pure and drinkable water. Despite its name, there are no monkeys in the area. The spot offers a beautiful view of the valley and mountains and is a popular stop before heading into the Homer Tunnel.
