The Archaeological Park of Paestum is a captivating complex featuring ancient temples dedicated to Hera, Athena, and Neptune, along with an amphitheater and a museum. This archaeological area was once the heart of the city, housing not only renowned temples but also the agora, the city's founding tomb, streets, baths, fountains, and meeting places for both Greeks and Romans. The Roman amphitheater is uniquely divided by Highway 18.
Magnificent well preserved Greek temples. There's an app called Paestum & Velia that explains the ancient site. Definitely download it before you visit as it helps you understand the ruins. The ticket was €15 for adults but under 18 was free. We loved being able to explore the area and absorb the history. We went on a weekday late in the afternoon so it was not too busy. Definitely worth a visit!

I love ancient sites, I've been lucky enough to see plenty of these throughout the countries around the Med. But this Paestum one, it's really something! The park is so beautiful with majestic trees everywhere, its roman ruins and, obviously, those breathtaking ancient greek temples of Hera and Athena. If you're a history enthusiast, you can't miss that one!
Cedric M — Google review
Sublime ancient greek temples (better than most you can find in greece). Absolutely no crowds on a sunny november afternoon. Unmatched vibes.
Michele F — Google review
This archaeological park is a true treasure—beautifully preserved and impressively expansive. Its size means you can explore at your own pace without feeling overwhelmed by crowds, a refreshing contrast to more tourist-heavy sites. While getting there isn't the easiest journey, the reward is well worth the effort. The peaceful atmosphere and rich historical significance make it an unforgettable experience for anyone with a passion for the past.
Luiz B — Google review
Beautifully maintained. I’d highly recommend going here if you’re into architecture and archaeology. Fascinating. Good food stops nearby too. Great parking within steps of the museum. 3 euro lot.
Rebecca W — Google review
Hard to put into words. If you’re a history lover, Paestum is a must. The ancient Greek temples are breathtaking, and walking through the ruins feels like stepping back in time. It’s peaceful, fascinating, and well worth the visit. You should also visit the nearby Museum as part of the tour, it’s fascinating.
Abe H — Google review
We loved this stop, came here on an excursion from our cruise ship that docked in Salerno. Great ruins, fascinating. Greek & Roman ruins. Hot in the sun, bring water, not much shade while walking the ruins. Wayside signs explained what you were looking at in English.

***CLOSED ON MONDAYS FROM 20 OCTOBER TO 15 DECEMBER*** I would like to give 1 star because they do not have this information anywhere on the website. I returned on a different day and had a great visit hence the 3/5. Dozens of tourists (myself included) arrived on a Monday and had no choice but to leave disappointed. It’s incredibly disrespectful to those that come from all over the world to see this beautiful piece of cultural heritage. —— Easily accessible by train from Naples. The Paestum train station is a 10 minute walk away. Also easily accessed by car. Your ticket includes access to the archeological museum (across the street) and to the archeological site of Velia (45 km south). This archeological site is incredible. It’s not overrun with tourists and the temples are very well preserved. There are plaques and signs with explanations in Italian and English. The park has two entrances, but only one of them sells tickets and had a gift shop. If you want to enter via the other entrance, you will be told to purchase your ticket at the museum. A truly special place that is a must see when visiting the region.

Ancient Ruins
The Temple of Athena is an ancient site dating back to 500 BCE, known for its extensive ruins and natural surroundings perfect for leisurely walks. In the early twentieth century, scholars and archaeologists conducted excavations in the area, uncovering various structures such as the Temple of Peace, comitium, Porta Marina street, and amphitheater.
If you're anywhere near Paestum and don’t stop to see the Temple of Athena, you’re seriously missing out. Nestled between two larger and more famous temples (Hera and Neptune), this smaller Doric treasure is a gem in its own right, and honestly, a standout for me. Built around 500 BCE, it blends Doric and Ionic elements, showing a transition in architectural style that gives it a unique personality. It's not just a ruin, it's a moment in time, frozen in stone, where you can feel the ambition of early Magna Graecia. The structure is remarkably well-preserved, and walking around it, you get this electric sense of ancient artistry and balance. Even after centuries, its proportions still feel elegant and intentional. What I especially loved was how the Temple of Athena rises slightly on higher ground, almost like she’s still keeping watch. It’s not overrun with tourists (unlike some other famous sites), so you can take your time and soak in the atmosphere. That peaceful weight of history, mixed with warm southern Italian light? Unforgettable. In short: majestic, understated, and totally worth the visit. Whether you’re into history, architecture, or just want a sacred pause in your day, this temple delive
Gabriella S — Google review
Inside the park so kinda weird that there’s a separate Google listing for each temple when you pay once to visit them all. Plus, how would you rate one temple fewer stars than the others? They’re all over 2,000 years old still standing! I’m struck by how perfectly level and straight the columns and flooring blocks are. Shows fantastic engineering and planning and site prep.
Jason B — Google review
Don't miss Paestum. We arrived just as they closed the gates, but the views from outside the fences were so good we almost didn't go back the next morning. What a mistake that would have been. Upclose access to wellpreserved temples, and acres of tumbled ruins of lesser homes and palaces.
Tim G — Google review
We got free entry as it was a national Republic day then. The temple complex is huge. The archaeology remains appear much grand than in pictures. However still in good shape particularly the temple of Neptune. I would suggest to buy a booklet giving information and it has nice illustrations about how this place must have looked in its heydays. Nice break from crowded tourists spots along amalfi coast
Vishal S — Google review
A very impressive archeological park that we stumbled upon whilst motor biking from Diamanté to Salerno. Well worth the €15 ticket - the park is well maintained and well organised. Plenty of parking available and some nearby food options. It’s ideal to park at the exit, closer to Temple of Athena, and walk up to the entrance. Allow at least one hour, more if you visit the museum which is included in the ticket price.
Bec C — Google review
This place is far more interesting than you expect. We were here for about 3 hours. The museum is informative. Once you are on the actual site it seems wrong to be able to walk all over the sites of the buildings. Beautiful mosaics are left open to the elements. Some visual representation of what the buildings may have looked like would have been useful. Excellent value for money. Signage around the site is poor though

Ancient Ruins
Nestled in the enchanting ruins of Paestum, the Temple of Neptune stands as a magnificent testament to classical Greek architecture. Dating back to 450 BC, this temple is not only the largest but also one of the best-preserved examples from ancient times. Its impressive Doric style features six grand columns at its front, creating an awe-inspiring façade that has captivated visitors for centuries.
The oldest of the three temples inside the archeological park. Still very well preserved within much restoration. You can still appreciate the precision and engineering it took to build such a large structure, and especially to have it remain upright after o we 2,000 years.

A brilliant historical part of Italys Greek occpancy. Two acropolis one older that the other side by dide. Dedicated Temples and architecture surrounded by mixed pre Roman and Greek ruins. Romanruins pre Roman.

What a wonderfully preserved piece of history. We had a guided tour. Imagine if you did a self tour or could take hours. So much to learn. And fact that you can touch makes it even more mesmerizing.
Tracy — Google review
Thank you, Italy, for preserving such an amazing historical site. The Hera Temples at Paestum are truly remarkable — well maintained, awe-inspiring, and full of history. The entrance fee is also very reasonable for the experience. A must-visit!
Chloris L — Google review
Worth walking around and contemplating the majestic temples. Sadly the entry fee is fairly high.
Salvatore A — Google review
Incredible how these temples from 400BC have been preserved so well. The museum is being redeveloped: expected to reopen fully in October 2023, currently only 20% of museum is accessible. But all the outdoor sites are open. Parking very reasonable: €3 for 3 hours (August 2023). Definitely worth having a guide, though audio guides are available.
Richard G — Google review
Temples and the most of the city is very well preserved. Yet, it is one place in Italy where you don't fight the crowds. Three town itself is beautiful with the fresh cheese farms and a wonderful beach. I'm sure it's way more crowded in the summer months.
Ayşegül Y — Google review
Temples to Hera – Paestum, Italy. The two largest temples of Paestum, long mislabelled as the “Basilica” and “Temple of Neptune”, are now widely thought to honour Hera, Queen of the Gods. The absence of any inscribed dedication leaves this a scholarly deduction, drawn from votive finds and the city’s known cult practices. Built in the 6th and 5th centuries BCE, their massive Doric columns rise without ornament, their weathered fluting still catching the light from the Tyrrhenian coast. Even stripped of cult image and ritual, they command the plain with a solemn grandeur — stone witnesses to a city where Greek settlers, Roman conquerors, and medieval farmers each left their trace.

The Amalfi Coast is a UNESCO-listed landscape featuring small towns perched between mountains and the sea. A popular activity is the Classic Amalfi Coast walking tour, an 11-day journey along the Footpath of the Gods, offering unrivaled Italian coastal hiking. The self-guided walk allows exploration at a personalized pace through idyllic villages like Praiano, Positano, Sorrento, Amalfi, and Maestra dei Villaggi.
Breathtaking and unforgettable! The Amalfi Coast is truly one of the most stunning places you’ll ever see—the views are absolutely postcard-perfect at every turn. Towering cliffs, sparkling turquoise waters, and picturesque villages make this destination something straight out of a dream. I highly recommend visiting by coach if possible. The roads are incredibly narrow, winding, and steep, and while experienced drivers might manage, it’s not for the faint-hearted! If you do decide to drive, go for a small car—a big vehicle would be a real challenge on those roads. Beaches are beautiful but often require a walk down the cliffs, and some do charge for entry. It’s worth it for the experience, though! The restaurants along the coast are wonderful—laid-back, welcoming, and happy to let you enjoy your meal without rushing you, which is refreshing in such a popular tourist spot. Parking is expensive—around €10 per hour—so if you’re driving, plan to make the most of your time there. Honestly, words don’t do it justice—I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves. A place you’ll never forget!
Altaz L — Google review
Very cool views from a boat tour. The road is very busy and filled with traffic for 4 months of the year - it was still busy in late September. Ferries are probably the better option to see everything the coast has to offer.
Brendan C — Google review
Beautiful town. We went end Sept beginning of Oct and we found it busy - I'm not sure I'd like it at the height of the season! Narrow streets with lots of lovely restaurants and gift shops. Restaurants offer similar choices of food and drink and cost is relative to quality, the average for us was about 45€ each which was 1 main meal and a drink each. Be prepared for lots of hills and stairs! Taxis are expensive but buses and ferries are a cheaper way to travel. The buses are a hair-raising ride but the scenery and views are spectacular. Tickets for the bus are bought either on the bus, some hotels & shops or the terminal. Ferry tickets can be bought online or at the port usually about 10€ but you may be charged extra for luggage. The ferry and bus timetables are pretty spot on but beware of popular times - the bus won't stop if it's full and your next bus could be up to an hour wait. The buses can cost between 1.50€ to 2.50€ depending on time of day. All stops are request stops, other than the terminal. The weather can affect the running of the ferries so always best to have a back up plan. We did a tour bus to Pompei & Herculaneum which was about 2 hours travelling but that was also picking up other people on the way.
Deborah T — Google review
We were looking forward to see Amalfi coast. The view from the top was spectacular. The boat was a nice experience. The town was underwhelming. Not much things to see except for church and small gift shop (approx. 10 min) It's mainly beach and view, if you want seeing the market, go to Sorrento. Highly recommend.
Mika A — Google review
We visited Positano, Amalfi and Ravello. After a white-knuckle drive along a cliff-hugging road, we were rewarded with the most spectacular scenery. Words cannot convey the absolute beauty of the Amafi Coast. So here are some pictures. Better to see it in real life!
Dan T — Google review
Arrive by sea and you can see how beautiful the coastline is. But to say its busy is an understatement. The mainstreet is wall to wall people. Narrow at times, it still has a need for cars bikes and electric carts to go up and down it. Once you manage to get further up the widens and you see the real Amalfi. Move away from this street and things become better. Still busy, but not uncontrollably. Views are fantastically pretty. Recommend turning right first off the boat and walking up the hill. Longish walk but very worth it. Do the main Street once you have taken in this view. You'll accept the masses after that. Only views from the sea included, as that would spoil it
TEE-GEE-EYE — Google review
The most beautiful drive I've ever taken with breathtaking views around every turn! The roads are narrow with tons of cars truck, motorcycles and pedestrians so if you're not an aggressive driver, this is not for you! Parking is almost impossible but if you can score a parking spot, walking around Amalfi is a delight!
Michael F — Google review
The area is quite busy and the terrain is a little hard to walk as its up a hill but it's a beautiful area. There are lots of shopping spots, lots of places to get souvenirs. My husband is still talking about how amazing the gelato was and I ate a lemon sorbet in a giant lemon and it was excellent. Highly recommend this place to see once in your lifetime

The Archaeological Park of Pompeii is a remarkable site that preserves the remains of the ancient Roman city, which was buried under ash and lava during the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD. The vastness of the excavated ruins showcases the impressive extent of Roman civilization frozen in time. Rediscovered in 1599, detailed archaeological investigations began two centuries later, revealing a wealth of historical treasures.
This was one of the best experiences I have had. There is so much to see here. The guide we had was very nice and funny, I learned so much from her. We spent 2 hours here and it was nowhere near enough time to see everything. There are also a ton of stray cats that roam the ruins and a sweet dachshund that walks around and greets everyone near the entrance.
E — Google review
It's a fascinating archeological site to witness ancient Rome which was destroyed or buried in the volcanic ashes. I highly recommended to visit if you are near Naples or Sorrento. It's a massive place and well restored, still restoration work is ongoing. That said it's quite hard to tell some areas whether it's restored, or original. There are lots of information to take in and it's worth taking a tour guide as you would be lost without it because sign posts are very limited and it's like a maze. We had a tour guide of 20 people which was not very comfortable and personal. As only people in front gets a better understanding. I will suggest if you want a better experience choose less than 10 people in a tour. Plus, do not visit on a hot sunny day specially with a child. There is a very little shade, not many toilets, or water or cafe facilities for children. Please don't take any pram as pathways are not built for pram. Overall, it's a must see place, truly enriching experience, but not suitable or pleasant with a baby or young children.
Prashant S — Google review
Definitely worth visiting during low season in the morning. I saw less than a hundred people the whole time. Walking through the ruins can be difficult if you don't have proper shoes. It is all cobblestone and uneven terrain. Also, bring a map it is easy to get lost and the park is large and dense in some areas. Don't forget bottled water and snacks. There are no cafes or places to eat. The cafe in the middle was closed. You will have to walk to the entrance or exit if you want something to eat. Overall, unique place to visit if you enjoy history. Plan an entire day to see the major sites. 2-3 days if you want to see everything and not feel rushed.
Suzanna M — Google review
Must see archeological site for all ages. A well preserved large city (between 11,000 - 20,000 people), showing how the Romans lived. It is a whole lot of walking on not so smooth narrow sidewalks, so bring comfortable hiking shoes, plenty of water and take lots of breaks. We saw about 1/3 of the city in 3 hours. You will need more than 1 day to see all. Start early, they shut the gates around 3pm for coming in. Not ideal for baby strollers or wheelchairs. Lots of neat pictures you can take. Bring a snack, they supposedly have a restaurant inside, we saw possible sign for it. Restrooms only at entrances, that we saw, so plan accordingly. If you buy your tickets at the entrance plan on a very slow line, do to only one employee in booth and make sure you have exact change, because they will not have change. The signage for parking, ticket locations very poor and lacking. The signage in the park itself is very lacking and street numbers are very confusing so pay attention to the map they give you and track your route or it will be very easy for you to get lost. There are water fountains/spigots but they are not marked as drinkable. Please be respectful of others trying to get by you on the sidewalks and try not to block them or the room entrances and be courteous to the elderly people.
Kevin M — Google review
Fascinating archaeological park. If you are not familiar with the history, I suggest some light reading before exploring the park. Even if you are familiar with the history, I would still recommend to get a professional guide to explore the park as they would know which interesting spots to look at. Such a surreal experience to be where a civilization was buried. Also recommend to go in the afternoon as morning would be quite packed.
Lyn N — Google review
You have to expect it to be crowded, but in this case, it's not a problem as the place is huge!!! There's so much to see, highly recommend to book in advance and also to arrive early to be able to see everything. We arrived at 9am and left at around 3pm, so the people that come after lunch surely won't have time to see and walk everything. We had bought the Pompei+ ticket which gives access to the west area, it was nice but could do without it, specially when you're already so tired of walking all day.
Sidónio S — Google review
Visiting the city of Pompeii was truly an unforgettable experience. The moment I walked in, I felt as if time had stopped. The ancient streets, the perfectly preserved ruins, and the powerful history behind every corner were absolutely breathtaking. It’s incredible to see how an entire city has remained frozen in time, offering such a vivid glimpse into the past. Pompeii is a place that leaves you speechless—impressive, haunting, and completely fascinating

An employee assured me that she would refund me after two days, but instead three weeks passed. After contacting the publishing house again, I was told that the accounting manager was not available and that they would have to contact me. Another week went by and there was no sign of the refund. Luckily I took action via PayPal force action, which resolved the situation immediately. After all this, I strongly advise against dealing with this publishing house. Baia di Trentova Agropoli is a picturesque beach nestled amidst tree-covered hills, offering a mix of sandy stretches and rocky formations with shallow, swim-friendly waters. It's conveniently located near the town of Agropoli and boasts stunning views. Visitors can enjoy clean waters and explore rock formations suitable for various activities. The beach provides options for both public access and semi-private lounging areas, along with nearby cafes and bars.
Great beach with plenty of parking. I recommend you bring coins if you want to park in the street and use the meter. The credit card options does not work. Otherwise, you can pay €5 for all day parking. Very clean beach!!

The beach itself is amazing - however we were priced €30 for 1 sunbed and 1 sunCHAIR… Luckily, after some haggling we got one more sunchair with this price, thanks to good service. Nice water, nice sand, highhh heat. At the close-by restaurant we bought «hamburgers», which actually tasted fairly decent, but we were definitely shocked when it came like the picture says… Also ordered a small peroni, but got a giant.

Beautiful beach with fine sand and clear clean water. The sea is shallow for a long stretch, making it perfect for children. There’s a public beach area, and at the Lido you can rent two sunbeds and a parasol for around €30–40 per day. It can get crowded during the season. There are two parking options nearby — the private one on the left side, closer to the beach, costs €5 per day and is probably the better choice if you plan to stay for several hours, especially since it offers some shade. There are also a few restaurants in the area, as well as a bar serving drinks and ice cream — great for a quick break or light lunch.

Beach located in the heart of downtown Agropoli. Choose the public area or semi-private lido (pay a small feel for lounge chair and beach umbrella. Cafes and bars nearby. It’s a fairly narrow beach at the town center so convenience is high but there are nicer beaches.

Beautiful views and quiet on this December day. Easy walk over the hill from Agropoli and then the hike for the park starts very close to the parking lot for the beach. Water looked clean and no smell at all from the algae. Cool rock formations for climbing and throwing and some comfortable ones as well for sitting. It was an overcast day so we could not see the mountains on the coast but that is the season here and did not detract from the beauty.

La Bottega del Gusto is a great restaurant in Paestum with delicious local produce. It can be a little expensive for some items on the menu, but the food generally is good quality. The platter was especially delicious with smoked mozzarella and Parma ham slices. Perfect place for lunch after walking around Paestum.
We visited Paestum in December 2024. We were looking for a place to eat, but many restaurant were shut. I found this restaurant on Google Maps that has high rating. It wasn’t busy at all during winter. We were greeted by a waiter who speaks excellent English. It was a warm sunny day we were sitting outdoor. We ordered meat platter, Caprese, burger meat, ravioli, and handmade pasta with fresh tomato sauce. The ravioli was stuffed with cheese, the texture of the ravioli was nice and soft. the cheese wasn’t so strong that it went very well with the tomato sauce. The cherry tomato in the cup present was mixed very well with the olive oil and some herbs. Everything tasted really good and ambience was very chill and relaxing. For a family of three, including soft drinks and table surface I think we paid around €55. Such a nice meal after walking around the ruins.

I went there two times. The food is amazing: the specialties of buffalo milk cheese, burata, ravioli and tagliata, baba were amazing! If you go on weekends, better to reserve a table. The waiters were very attentive, but most don't speak English, they do understand.

We enjoyed a very tasty lunch here right outside the temple complex for reasonable prices. I’d recommend the platter of buffalo cheeses and the ravioli. The cheeses were an amazing tasting variety with probably 8 different kinds of local buffalo cheeses. The buffalo ricotta was one of the best cheeses I’ve ever had and I’ll certainly miss it. The ravioli were also delicious. Fresh, simple, and comforting. Don’t be discouraged by the proximity to the temples; the food here is very fresh and delicious.

Nice place for a quick bite right outside Paestum archeological site exit. The prices are quite high for the quantity of the food and in my case they had run out of some food options. I really loved the ceramic plates and glasses made from a local studio.

The Provincial Archaeological Museum of Salerno is a treasure trove of ancient art and artifacts, showcasing a diverse collection from prehistoric times to the late Roman era. Visitors can explore Roman statues, cinerary urns, geometric decorated ceramics, Greek period exhibits, archaeological finds from Fratte, and a numismatic collection. One of its highlights is the celebrated bronze head of Apollo discovered in the Gulf of Salerno in 1930.
Very nice museum with well put together displays, except the entrance/yard pieces that seem a little unkempt and lost surrounded by the tall grass. The hours are very convenient, as it stays open all day till 19:30.

(Translated by Google) Unfortunately, a morning that was supposed to be an enriching one turned out to be a great disappointment. The museum could be an added value for Palinuro if it weren't for incompetent management and an unpleasant and rude welcome from the "caretaker", perhaps an archaeologist. In the pouring rain, with two children in tow, we were asked for the green pass outside the door but unfortunately they don't have a QR reader, so it was enough to simply show a document! The visit, due to Covid, was hasty (about 6 minutes) and managed exclusively by the director, we didn't even have time to read the explanatory panels. There are certainly interesting finds but I know they will never be enough if they are not valued and loved by who keeps them.

The Provincial Archaeological Museum of Western Lucania, established in 1957, is a significant cultural center in Paestum. The museum's collection also features the renowned Tomb of the Diver found in 1968.
When visiting the beautiful Certosa di Padula, do not forget to visit the Provincial Museum. Its historical, but very charming, exhibition shows rich burial finds from Sala Consilina and other Early Iron Age sites, complementing what you may have seen in other regional museums, such as the one in Sala Consilina itself. The Museo del Mare, also known as the Museum of the Sea, can be found in Villa Matarazzo, and it pays homage to the maritime traditions of the area. Adjacent to Castellabbate's main street lies Parco Villa Matarazzo. This park features a variety of amusement rides for children and offers a captivating atmosphere during sunset. Furthermore, visitors have the opportunity to explore an impressive exhibition of artwork by Faccincani within the villa's premises.

The ambiance is inviting, featuring lovely outdoor seating where you can enjoy your meal while soaking up the atmosphere.
We stayed in Agropoli for 10 days and had dinner here six times. Wonderful fresh seafood and fish; all ingredients locally sourced. Very sympathetic family owned and run. English, French, German spoken. Exceptional quality for price.

What a nice place. Recommended by a cab driver, we found this place in a somewhat hidden area. Nice tables outside, wonderful service, nice chats with waitress and chef de cuisine. The food was excellent and not overpriced. Thanks you so much! :-)

The fish and seafood dishes are highly recommended. Service was also tops. The young woman who served us knew what she was talking about (and spoke English well, too!) Don't fail to get the crispy octopus with the curry/mango chutney. The best! They have no table salt but sea water to salt your dish. Their bread is sourdough and they have a choice of olive oil, from the mild sort to the really tasty "spicy" ones. Just amazing! We were much impressed! And to top it all, prices are very reasonable!

Bar del Sole in Praiano is a charming spot to enjoy an aperitif or coffee while admiring the picturesque town of Praiano and the stunning views of the Amalfi Coast. The location offers a quiet and non-touristy atmosphere, perfect for unwinding and soaking in the beauty of the surroundings. While it's known for its elevated prices, visitors appreciate the delicious coffee, friendly staff, and tasty snack options like croissants, cheese toast, and waffles.
This is the second time we have been on holiday here in Praiano and we always come to this beautiful bar the last time we were here was in 2019 , even then it was always lively and the staff were absolutely fantastic, now it’s changed quite a bit but for the better. The staff ie Manuel , Giovanni , Giuseppe , Diego are all lovely people who go out of their way to help you and make you feel so much at home. The food is amazing and the ice cream is to die for. I’ve got to say if you’re ever in Praiano even just passing you will always be greeted with a smile and fantastic hospitality you could not wish for more Thank you from Marc and Tina from Liverpool England 😊😊😊👌

During our stay here in Praiano we visited Bar del Sole on numerous occasions. It’s a great restaurant for a nice dinner with a beautiful ocean view sitting out on the patio. Food was yummy, our favorite being the pasta carbonara. For breakfast was a great place to stop by and get something on the go, they have plenty of options for pastries and drinks. Highly recommend stopping by and eating here!
Fabiola M — Google review
We regret not coming here more often! We had lunch and dinner here and both times were absolutely delicious. The carbonara was some of the best I’ve had. The meatballs were very tender and juicy. For dinner we had steak and the sea bream. Both full of flavor and cooked perfectly. To top it all off the view is absolutely amazing. You are looking out on the coast and can catch the most beautiful sunsets. This is also one of the very few places we visited in Italy that doesn’t have a cover charge (yay!). We loved that there was a place to park the Vespa nearby as well. Wish we had spent more time here. 😊

Stumbled upon this cafe for cappuccino. My wife and I are vegan and they had vegan croissant, fruit platter, and they customized their avocado toast for us. Everything was delicious and the service was great. They have soy, almond, and oat milk for coffees.

We stopped here to watch the beautiful sunset and grabbed a Negroni and limoncello spritz. Both were made well and I was able to get the spritz to be a little less sweet. The Negroni was great. They also serve a little bar snack plate with a drink order which was a nice treat. The views are amazing here. The staff are also very helpful and pleasant!!

Went there during my stay at Praiano. The service was good, but the bread they gave us was stale and my carbonara pasta looked quite different from the photos. The sauce was too heavy and thick, and there was a short hair in it (it was under the pasta so it definitely wasn’t mine). My boyfriend liked his plate, but didn’t like mine either.

We came here twice on our trip to Praiano and it was amazing! Giovanni took care of us both times. He was very attentive and kind. The iced latte was to die for. The first day we got the chicken party and the second we got the american breakfast. We will be back in the future!

Airport
Salerno Costa d'Amalfi Airport is a gateway to the stunning Campania region, offering access to the beautiful Amalfi Coast and other hidden gems. This airport provides convenient access to lesser-known destinations like Cilento and Vallo di Diano, making it an ideal starting point for exploring off-the-beaten-path areas. Additionally, the airport serves as a great option for general aviation with AVGAS available and reasonable taxes compared to larger airports.
A nice experience: Salerno Costa d’Amalfi airport is a cute brand new airport created in 2024. Located less than 30 minutes from Salerno it is the right choice if you want to visit the Amalfi coast. Take a ferry from Salerno to Amalfi,Positano or Capri. The airport is very small at the moment but there are plans to transform it in a proper beautiful airport. Do not expect a Duty free section when you travel from here as the Departure area is small like a 3 bedroom flat. You might end up waiting for your plane outside. Staff is very professional, friendly and polite. Despite the dimensions you will enjoy the experience. I will give 5 star to the new airport
Stanza A — Google review
I’m giving this airport one star. I was flying to Vienna, and there was a huge line because they didn’t think to separate the entrances for people flying to Vienna and those flying to London. Everyone ended up in one long queue. Then we had to wait for the bus and for the other passengers flying with us. They could’ve just made one line for each gate, and everything would’ve gone much faster. The Italian mentality honestly kills me sometimes. Oh, and by the way — the London flight was later, but they got to board before us.
Iaroslav T — Google review
The tax-free employee spends more time with the office closed than open. Moreover, they do not speak English and are completely rude. Employees like this should not represent the airport at all.
Mimoza Q — Google review
Upon arrival, the passport control took over 30 mins as there was only 1 person to accommodate a whole aircraft full of passengers. When checking in, it was busy for the size of the airport with no seating available. Baggage security checks took longer than expected and the gate areas are small. This airport is convenient for my location, however it's stressful. Plane was also 1 hour late too leave but that was due to weather, overall a disappointing experience.
Focusboywonder — Google review
This is a tiny airport with basic services. Beware, Ryanair staff at this airport is trained to target foreigners for extra payments. I bought a special 'Ryanair underseat size' suitcase because I am recovering from a surgery and cannot carry backpacks. My suitcase fitted the testing box and I was charged. Pics attached. And local passengers with overloaded backpacks were not checked at all. If you have a choice, avoid this airport and fly from Naples.
Eliza N — Google review
We were kept on the actual runway for about an hour after landing, standing directly under the sun. There was no water, no access to a toilet, and no information whatsoever. One woman even felt unwell. This has been the worst experience I’ve ever had at an airport.
Gergana T — Google review
Great airport, extremely convenient with a good number of flights. I was impressed by how quick the checks were, both on departure and arrival. People are very helpful too. The airport itself is pretty small, and there are just two bag checks lines.
Cos S — Google review
Airport itself is very small and you go through quickly, although there's a lack of seating. Biggest issue is connectivity with ground transport. There's only one car rental agency on site. Other options are a bus to Salerno train station which does not have air conditioning (took it twice) and can be a horrible experience in summer. The trenitalia buses to Salerno station also do not appear on Google maps. Otherwise a taxi to Salerno train station costs 50€. This airport cannot become a viable alternative to NAP until the ground transportation options (quality and frequency) are improved.

(Translated by Google) What a wonderful holiday! ❤️ As soon as we arrived, we immediately felt at home: the staff is exceptionally kind, always ready to help with a smile. The entertainment team was great, fun but never intrusive, just how we like it. The resort is nestled in a spectacular olive grove, a peaceful haven that lets you breathe in nature and relaxation. The cabins are clean and welcoming, perhaps a little dated in their furnishings, but this is overshadowed by the overall atmosphere. The nearby beach is well-equipped with amenities and crystal-clear water! And then... the food! 🤩 A riot of flavors, with countless options every day, including first courses, second courses, and side dishes, always plentiful and delicious. Saturday night dinner was unforgettable, as were the themed evenings: the one with mozzarella and buffalo ricotta won us over, truly superb! In short: a holiday that left us smiling and wanting to return. Because it's true... "it's better there"! 🌿✨ (Original) Che vacanza meravigliosa! 🌿✨

(Translated by Google) We spent a pleasant week at Villaggio Elea between July and August, fully enjoying the beauty of the location and the warm welcome we received. The resort is nestled in a splendid natural setting, well-maintained, and with direct access to a clean, transparent sea. The beach is well-equipped, and the lifeguards were truly professional, promptly managing even challenging days. The family atmosphere is certainly one of the resort's strong points: you feel at home from day one. The first few days were enlivened by highly popular themed evenings (Neapolitan, Cilento) and pleasant culinary surprises with unique food corners that added a touch of variety. Even during dinner, entertainment was present with music, dancing, and characters for the little ones. However, from mid-week onward, there was a noticeable decline in the entertainment offering: the themed evenings stopped, the food corners disappeared, and even the entertainment during meals was absent. Mickey Mouse, long-awaited by the children, disappeared without explanation. The entertainment staff is numerous, but evening shows are often led by just the head entertainer and his assistant, leaving the feeling that much more could be done with the available resources. There are also some points that could be improved on the catering front: pizza, for example, was sometimes served cold because dozens of pizzas were being churned out at the same time, ending up in boxes with no clear destination. Nothing serious, but these are aspects that, with a little more attention, could make a difference. In conclusion, the Elea Village remains a solid facility, ideal for families and those seeking relaxation, sea views, and a friendly atmosphere. With a little more consistency in the activity schedule and greater attention to detail in the services, it could truly offer an excellent experience throughout the week, not just in the first few days.

We visited Lido Mediterraneo towards the end of the season (end of September 2025) and it was very quiet and lots of space to get a sunbed with an umbrella. I can imagine this place in the summer being very popular! The pricing was very good, I believe we paid €10 for two sunbeds and an umbrella, just bear in mind this was at the end of the season and it wasn’t busy at all! The staff here are really nice and welcoming! If you’re coming here in the warmer months I’d highly recommend.

Church
Nestled next to the parish of St. Peter the Apostle, Chiesa di Sant'Anna al Porto is a charming little church with a rich history. Founded by the Magaldi family, it has undergone significant restoration thanks to Archpriest Giuseppe Mercadante, who transformed it into a more beautiful structure after years of neglect. This picturesque church is conveniently located across from Teatro Verdi and near Salerno's bustling port, making it an ideal stop for visitors exploring the area.
The convent is located in the place called "Porto Salvo", where the church of Santa Maria di Porto Salvo, known as Sant'Anna al Porto, is also located. The church, dating back to the 13th century, is flanked by the monastic complex dependent on the Badia di Cava. The complex was located outside the city walls, to the west, towards the marina. The place has undergone extensive transformations over the centuries. In 1544 following the assault by the Turks, the church suffered such devastation that no trace remains of the original complex. It was rebuilt at the end of the 16th century with an octagonal plan. and with this configuration it appears in the engraving of the frontispiece by Fabrizio Pinfo in 1653 next to the writing "Porto Salvo". The foundation of the adjoining convent of the Discalced Carmelites took place in 1682, therefore it was much later than that of the church in question. The convent expanded over time to include, within its own walls, the church of Santa Maria di Porto Salvo. In a map from the early 18th century, the ark of the convent of Santa Teresa appears, as Via S.Teresa, the connection point on the mainland of the port of Salerno. The convent was occupied by French troops and finally definitively closed in 1808. Then between 1817 and 1837 it was used for military use and transformed into barracks. Today it is home to the Carabinieri barracks. The church of Santa Teresa has become the pivot of the entire convent structure. Four long corridors develop around its octagon. Only one, the southern one (which at the time was in direct contact with the sea), longer than the others, creates a projecting body. And it is precisely in the direction of this body that the access to the former convent opens. The entrance forms, with the larger projecting body, a space which is then the cloister of the convent. Along the internal front, overlooking the courtyard, there is a loggia which still exists today, as a connecting element between the open space of the cloister and the closed one facing the sea (today the southern front borders other buildings). The church, rebuilt in the 16th century, and perhaps enlarged in the 17th, has a central plan with semicircular chapels that develop along the sides, and is surmounted by a dome. The entrance is via a rectangular vestibule. In 1849, the image and cult of Sant'Anna, much venerated by sailors from Salerno, which was located in the complex of San Pietro a Corte, was moved there. This is the reason why the ancient church of Santa Maria di Porto Salvo became Sant'Anna al Porto, a title still preserved today.

(Translated by Google) Let's start by saying that the photos of the swimming pool and of the adjacent building are not of Oasi Grand Tour but of Villa Lia Cilento managed by different managers but falling under the same ownership. We can say that we received the welcome and courtesy only from the management of Villa Lia and I will explain why. The welcome at Oasi Grand Tour is non-existent, in fact the room keys are placed in a small combination safe located outside the room. For 2 evenings out of 2, upon returning, we remained without water until the following morning and, despite having been warned, the manager of Oasi Grand Tour did not show up to resolve the serious inconvenience. Furthermore, in addition to the problem recurring the following evening, in response he sent us to call another telephone contact (so he left it up to us to resolve it) and this already says it all!!! The breakfast service is provided by agreement with Villa Lia, but the Oasi Grand Tour management does not specify that it is limited to coffee, or cappuccino and croissant, any extras are the responsibility of the customer. In the double bedroom there is only one bedside table and only one switch to turn on the light from the bed. So the second guest must place his belongings, which must be kept within reach, on the floor and if he has to go to the bathroom during the night he must do so in the dark. The shower hose leaked a lot of water during use. There was a television but it was not connected to the antenna but only to the internet, so those who are not familiar with these things cannot use it. The room is not equipped with a mini fridge, and we are talking about the height of summer. On the morning of departure, the manager arrived at the facility and even though we were outside the room a few meters away from him, he didn't bother to greet us or even apologize for the inconvenience we suffered. So I reiterate that the welcome and courtesy were provided only by the management of Villa Lia which made our stay more pleasant.

The Amphitheatre of Paestum is a significant archaeological site that offers a glimpse into the ancient city's political and social center. The area also features the remains of the Agora and Forum, providing visitors with a rich historical experience. Although some find the admission price steep, many believe that it is well worth it due to the site's invaluable importance.
Not a huge amphitheater, plus it’s partially destroyed due to typical modern man paving a road right through the middle of it, but still very well preserved, and you can visualize what it must’ve looked like back in the day.
Jason B — Google review
🏛In my opinion a little bit too expensive. The price is the same as the one in Pompei with the difference that Pomepi is 4 times bigger and it takes more to visit and much more details to look at. However the site is of an inestimable importance and its absolultly worth it to visit. 📍The valley of Paestum is special to me for a mix of reasons ( the morphology- food - weather - history- traditions) The If you like sunsets and history you can here combine that if you visit it on a sunny and clear day. 🌅

To the east of the Italic Temple is a small Anfiteatro or Roman Amphiteater. Central element of Roman Paestum, the amphitheater was built around 50 BC to towards the end of the 1st century AD. An external ring has been added to increase its capacity. Only the southern half of theater is still visible. In 1930, Highway 18 was built across the site, burying the northern half. The road was designed to pass by the ruins in order to provide the experience of seeing the ruins up close, but without thinking about what was still hidden. It is said by local inhabitants that the civil engineer responsible was tried, convicted and received a prison sentence for what was described as wanton destruction of a historic site.

Basilica Paleocristiana dell'Annunziata in Paestum is a significant site that reflects the Christianization of the area during the 5th century AD. The Temple of Ceres/Athena was repurposed into a church, while the basilica was constructed nearby using stones and columns from the ancient city. Originally an open basilica, it was later transformed into a closed one between the end of the fifth and beginning of sixth centuries.
A 1500 year-old church that’s pretty cool inside. There’s a couple plaques around to help you understand the history and renovations of this place. From what I understand it was almost totally lost and used to keep animals inside at one point. Nice to see it reclaimed so we can see the history here.

Beautiful and simple. Take your lunch in the Plaza in front and then step inside this old church.
Thomas T — Google review
The church dates back to the 5th century AD. even if it has been reworked several times. The latest restorations have brought to light the very ancient columns that had been incorporated into the masonry of the baroque renovation. In the central apse, you can admire some fragments of frescoes of the eleventh century. In order to find the floor of the early Christian church, the restorers had to dig for about two meters and this led to a curious effect, unlike what happened in the past where the church was accessed by climbing a few steps to symbolize the ascent to heaven to access go down to the basilica.
Ugo S — Google review
The original Church of Our Lady of Annunciation dates back to the beginning of the fifth century A. D. when it was erected as an open basilica. Subsequently between the end of fifth and the beginning of sixth centuries it was transformed into a closed basilica. We have traces of information from 1500 onwards from those so called 'ad limina' reports - the reports concerning the state affairs of the Diocese of Capaccio written by the Bishops or by their provosts. These reports were intended to illustrate the conditions in which the bishop had found various churches. At the time the region was sunk in a state of desolation, corruption and terror which had begun with the barbarian invasions and was to continue through the centuries, including all the eighteenth century. In fact the banditry was widespread, poverty was much and the ecclesiastical income was very low. The Church at Paestum had been partially restructured at the beginning of the 1500s by the Bishop Podocastoro. Towards the end of the the following century, Andrea Bonito, one of his successors had the Church restructured at his own experiences to avoid its imminent collapse. A few decades later, Bishop Agostino Idoardi again restructured the Church. Upon his arrival in Capaccio in 1724, he related that he had found the Cathedral very much like a stable or a nest of brigands, despoiled of all its Church furnishings. Idoardi built the high altar which he dedicated to Our Lady of Annunciation, the Chapel with the altar of St. Michael the Archangel in the left side aisle and the Chapel of Our Lady of Sorrows at the left side aisle. Bishop Raimondi, successor of Odoardi, completed the work by enriching the Church with marbles and ornaments for the high altar. Moreover, in 1760 he had a 'palatiolum' built adjacent to the Cathedral. This is the elegant little structure next to the Church, which until the last century was the residence of the Bishops who wanted to have a period of rest. In the second half of the twentieth century, the Cathedral was restored to the form it had prior to the intervention of Bishop Odoardi. This restauration work freed the ancient columns that had been enclosed within the eighteenth century pilasters and brought down the Church flooring to its original level which was lower by almost two metres. For this reason today one must descend a few steps to enter into the Church.

(Translated by Google) CHURCH OF THE SS. ANNUNZIATA The ancient church dedicated to the SS. Annunziata dates back to the early 5th century AD, when it was built as an "open basilica," later transformed into a "closed basilica" between the end of the 5th and the beginning of the 6th century. We have records of the building from 1500 onwards, thanks to the so-called ad limina reports, which were written by bishops or their superiors on the state of the diocese of Capaccio. The reports documented the conditions in which each bishop found the churches. At the time, the area was in a state of desolation, corruption, and terror, which began with the barbarian invasions and continued until the 18th century. Indeed, banditry was widespread, poverty was considerable, and ecclesiastical revenues were among the lowest in the Kingdom. Bishop Tommaso Carafa wrote in his report of 26 June 1644 Situs ipsius est asperrimus ("the site itself is very rough"), while Bishop Giocoli, in a letter of 1720, defined the entire diocese as "very disastrous". The church of Paestum had been partially rebuilt at the beginning of the 16th century by Bishop Podocataro, while his successor, Andrea Bonito, had restored the religious hall at his own expense at the end of the following century to avoid its imminent collapse. A few decades later, Bishop Agostino Odoardi carried out a new renovation of the church. Upon his arrival in Capaccio (1724), he reported having found a cathedral similar to a stable or a thieves' den, devoid of any sacred furnishings. Odoardi created the high altar, dedicated to the Annunciation, the chapel with the altar of St. Michael the Archangel in the left aisle, and the chapel of Our Lady of Sorrows in the right aisle. Odoardi's successor, Bishop Raimondi, completed the work, enriching the church with marble and ornaments for the high altar. In 1760, Raimondi also built a palatiolum near the cathedral, the current elegant building adjacent to the church, which, until the last century, served as a residence for bishops seeking rest from their labors. The ecclesiastical hall was restored to its pre-Bishop Odoardi appearance with a restoration project in the second half of the 20th century. This freed the ancient columns enclosed in eighteenth-century pillars and restored the church's original floor level, almost two meters lower. For this reason, the Annunziata is now accessed via a staircase. EARLY CHRISTIAN BASILICA CHURCH OF THE SS. ANNUNCIATION THE ANCIENT CHURCH DEDICATED TO THE SS. ANNUNCIATION DATES BACK TO THE EARLY 5TH CENTURY AD, WHEN IT WAS BUILT AS AN "OPEN BASILICA," ONLY TO BE TRANSFORMED INTO A "CLOSED BASILICA" BETWEEN THE LATE 5TH AND EARLY 6TH CENTURIES. Records of the building date back to 1500, thanks to the so-called ad limina reports, which were written by the bishops or their superiors on the state of the diocese of Capaccio. THANKS TO THE LATEST RESTORATIONS CARRIED OUT ON THIS CHURCH, ITS ANCIENT COLUMNS, WHICH HAD BEEN INCORPORATED INTO THE PILLARS OF THE BAROQUE RENOVATION FOR ABOUT TWO CENTURIES, HAVE COME TO LIGHT. TO FIND ITS ORIGINAL FLOOR, IT WAS NECESSARY TO EXCAVATE 2 METERS. THIS IS WHY THE CHURCH IS NOW ACCESSED BY A STAIRCASE. (Original) CHIESA DELLA SS.

Both communicate the territory of Paestum in a different way, Paestum Experience does it from a digital point of view through social media and Paestum Space does it in a tangible way, it is a real place. Involving external designers the experience becomes constructive because we are able to get a different point of view, it would be not very functional to only externalize the vision of the territory.

I literally stumbled upon this place, walking along the tree -lined avenue that leads from the temples to the small railway station. I was immediately captured by the wording “materiali minimi -minimum materials". The structure, I believe an old agricultural warehouse of a few centuries ago, is itself a place that catches the passers-by gaze. Entering, I have immediately understood that I was in a "different" place. Not a usual museum with beautiful works of art, but also a kind of archive of artists' ideas, the seeds behind their creations. Definitely, something else. Seeing the draft of a drawing, of a sculpture, the starting point of everything, can turn to be something even more interesting than the work itself. I have really enjoyed to navigate my gaze through every single little detail and get lost in front of the drawings. The room is not really large, the space and the energy, they are. I have been lucky.

(Translated by Google) Too expensive for the quantity of works on display although of good quality. Courteous and prepared operator. Located along the route that leads from the train station to the Paestum excavations. Esperienza positiva

(Translated by Google) Exciting place without time and with a lot of history...a recovery of the location and an obsessive attention to materials, this second edition is even more beautiful exhibition. Beautiful, it's a shame that it isn't publicized, it's truly a museum that makes a difference.. the staff are very good and kind 👍👍 not to be missed (Original) Emozionante luogo senza tempo e con tanta stiria..un recupero della location ed un attenzione ai materiali maniacale, esposizione bellissima questa seconda edizione ancora più. (Translated by Google) Even in this case, we find ourselves faced with those little hidden jewels, but not so much, that the world of art and culture offers us. It is a delightful mini museum of contemporary art in the middle of the orchards and countryside of Paestum, a stone's throw from the most famous temples. The setting in which it is located is nothing short of magical and the museum, although small, offers highly evocative works and tells a story of passion and dedication to the territory and art. The entrance fee is only 5 euros, little more than a coffee, but it's worth it all just for the diver's project... getting to Paestum and not passing through is a real shame. Consigliatissimo

(Translated by Google) If you like antiquity and go to Pompeii, you surely know Paestum. It was part of the Grand Tour with this one and you just have to go there to understand it. A wonder of Magna Graecia.

(Translated by Google) A wonderful place immersed in a landscape waiting to be rediscovered. What you can read on their official website reflects the reality of both curation and exhibitions of great historical and emerging artists. A nerve center that aligns ancient with contemporary.

(Translated by Google) Unique experience! I was welcomed by the director Nuvola, a very kind and well-prepared person. The exhibition is curated down to the smallest detail, a unique environment for the sensations it transmits, a journey of sensations among the works that I will never forget. I highly recommend it! (Original) Esperienza unica!
