Bridge
Sights & Landmarks
The Peace Bridge in Derry, opened in 2011, is a modernistic structure that spans the River Foyle. It serves as a powerful symbol of reconciliation and unity, connecting the predominantly nationalist west side with the unionist east side of the city. Designed by architect Wilkinson Eyre, its sleek and sweeping curve reflects the river's natural flow. The bridge offers pedestrians and cyclists a peaceful way to travel between both banks of the river.
The Peace Bridge in Londonderry is more than just a bridge; it's a symbol of hope, reconciliation, and progress. This iconic structure spans the River Foyle, connecting the city's historic walled city with the modern Ebrington Square. Designed by Wilkinson Eyre Architects, the bridge is a marvel of engineering and a stunning piece of contemporary architecture. Its graceful curves and sleek design make it a striking landmark. The bridge's unique shape, with its two halves overlapping at the center, represents a "handshake" between the two sides of the city, a powerful metaphor for the peace process in Northern Ireland. Beyond its architectural significance, the Peace Bridge has become a vital part of the city's social fabric. It's a popular spot for locals and visitors alike, offering stunning views of the river and the city skyline. Whether you're strolling along the bridge, cycling across it, or simply admiring it from afar, you can't help but feel a sense of optimism and hope. The Peace Bridge is a testament to the power of human spirit and a reminder that even the deepest divisions can be bridged.
Jaldeep P — Google review
The bridge opened on 25 June 2011 to connect the two sides of the city, over the River Foyle, both physically and symbolically. It measures 235 metres (771 ft) and was designed by bridge AECOM and Wilkinson Eyre Architects.
Chris K — Google review
Beautiful bridge across river Foyle for pedestrians and cyclists. Nice view of city from the bridge. Sunsets and evenings make this place looks photo perfect. It looks much better in reality than my photos lol. You can also access a nice walk along the river through St Columb’s park.

Very nice little bridge, great view of the city. The architecture is wonderful.

Lovely bridge. Have walked across it many times and plan to walk it many more! There's a cycling lane too, and the bridge is nice and wide so can easily accommodate this. There are also two large benches on the bridge.
Shane — Google review
Bridge is open to all. It's very stable and secure with cameras on the pylons. It's essential for crossing from the river without traffic. Very picturesque.
James S — Google review
Nice and modern pedestrian bridge. Possible to see the city and the surroundings. There are also benches to sit down on the bridge to enjoy the view.

The Guildhall is a stunning neo-Gothic town hall in Derry/Londonderry, serving as a hub for local history and culture. It boasts intricate stained-glass windows and offers guided tours to delve into its rich heritage. The venue also hosts various events such as concerts, plays, and poetry readings. Visitors can explore the St. Columba Heritage Centre to learn about the city's patron saint through interactive exhibits.
We celebrated our wedding at the Guildhall on Saturday and we couldn’t be happier with our experience. All communication was handled efficiently, kindly, and professionally, and we instantly felt we were in a ‘safe pair of hands’ for our special day. All of the staff we spoke to reassured us that they understood what we wanted and put us at ease. Throughout the whole process, the staff couldn’t do enough for us and our guests. The venue is absolutely stunning. We got married in the main hall, in front of the stained glass windows. The staff allowed Holly’s Dad to play us in and out on the organ. They also recommended White Horse for our catering who provided delicious food and a great service. We had a relaxed and joyful experience and would highly recommend the Guildhall as a venue for an unforgettable day. Special mentions for Lee, Troy, Paige, Brian, Ellie, Sylvia and the kind lady (we think, Carol) who took us out on the balcony and in the council chamber. Holly and Max

We were in today for a walk around and stopped in to see the bike show. Band playing and there was a great atmosphere. Stopped in the cafe for a quick takeaway coffee and sausage roll. Nice and clean area with plenty going on
Declan D — Google review
The Guildhall is a beautiful building with free entry. You can take a poke around and also there is a bit of a museum / educational area to learn more about the history of Derry. The people working the day we were in were friendly and informative. We really enjoyed stopping in here.

Incredible what human hands can do! Generations to build these masterpieces and they will stand Fav stained glass is pic 6 but far too much beauty for one post! 🌈 LED light on the organ is amazing.

Londonderry's incredible neo-Gothic Guildhall with its beautiful interior and stained-glass windows. The guildhall dates from 1887 but was nearly completed destroyed by fire in 1908. It was rebuilt in 1912 but hit by two terrorist bombs, during the troubles, in 1972. It was restored and reopened in 1977.
Chris K — Google review
I have lived in Belfast for 25 years, and to my eternal shame, until last Thursday I hadn’t been to Derry in about 15 years, and I had never done the Belfast to Derry train journey. I remedied this last week on my own, and then decided to come back today with my kids aged 8 and 11. The Guildhall is a must visit. The building is beautiful, and the front area has little fountains to keep the place fun for kids, and adults, alike. Inside there’s a lot of interesting stuff, but the spectacular stairs and Main hall are the best bit. I say this, but also the staff are brilliant, today we had a great chat with the awesome Sophie (flax-flower blue hair and Totoro tattoo) who was knowledgeable and friendly and clearly loves her job. She showed us to the council chamber that we would’ve missed otherwise. Give that member of staff a pay rise!! Thanks from the guy with 2 kids and the Totoro T-shirt and tattoo! A brilliant place, with a decent wee cafe too. Derry is so much slower-paced and friendlier than Belfast!
Nick ( — Google review
Beautiful venue and tourist spot - I delivered training in the Main Hall, which was breathtaking. Superb exhibition in building.
Glenn W — Google review
This place seemed interesting. It has quite a history from being rebuilt from the ground up since 1912 fire. It was renovated in 2013 with a sizable budget. I was thoroughly impressed with the wood carvings and stained glass that some looked to have been salvaged. I watched the Choir competition and the acoustics was really good. Phillipines had a strong show. Dublin and Cork had really talented set. Estonia in their formal dress was very impressive. The local choir set a high bar for the competitors though as they were the opening act. I didn't like the choke points at the top of the stairs, but packing so many people in a limited space has complications. The organizers did a really good job on utilizing the Derry community.

History Museums
The Museum of Free Derry, located in the Bogside neighborhood of Derry, is a historical museum that commemorates and recounts the story of the Free Derry era from 1969-1972. This pivotal period saw a section of the city declare itself autonomous from British authorities, culminating in the tragic events of Bloody Sunday in 1972. The museum features multi-media exhibits on the region's civil rights movement and early conflict era.
An amazing experience in the Free Derry Museum ! Here, you find the all story of The Troubles that took place in Derry and the building of tensions between the two communities beforehand. It is well-explained and very complete. If you are in Derry, you definitely have to come here !
Chloé — Google review
It's a good museum to learn about the history of Derry. There are some videos throughout that are interesting to watch. There was no wait to enter the museum and we didn't have to but tickets in advance. You can just show up and pay to enter.
Janet S — Google review
A powerful and moving experience. Visiting the Bloody Sunday monument is both emotional and enlightening. The surrounding murals beautifully and boldly tell the story of a tragic chapter in history—each one full of meaning and message. Walking through the area, you don’t just see history, you feel it. You leave with a deeper understanding, carrying a piece of that history with you. A must-visit for anyone coming to Derry
Stella C — Google review
Magnificent and extremely moving testament to the people of Derry. Very well curated, informative, logical and easy to follow. Plus some very poignant exhibits, the shoot to kill transcript, the white hanky, the bullet broken Sunday best clothes, straight from noon mass. Simply must see if you’re visiting any part of Ireland.

Excellent local museum in Derry. Great history on Derry through it's troubled past. Highly recommend a visit as a private tour guide who explores the whole island of Ireland.

Very eye-opening & interesting history. Happy to hear another perspective on the story of Northern Ireland’s past conflict. Cool to see what the Bloody Sunday Trust is doing to spread awareness and fight for civil rights for all, everywhere

History Museums
The Tower Museum, established in 1992, is the primary council-run museum in the city. It offers two permanent exhibitions: "The Story of Derry," which delves into the city's history with a collection of artifacts, and "La Trinidad Valencera," focusing on the Spanish Armada ship that sank off the coast of Donegal in 1588.
Fantastic spot in Derry and a great way to spend some time. We visited on a Monday afternoon where it was 2 for 1 on tickets so a mere £6 to get in. Brilliant value. There are three exhibits, the first focusing on Derry Girls, a recent comedy tv show which if you haven’t seen is well worth a watch. Great exhibit which contains a lot of props from the series you can see. Second exhibit is the history of Derry which goes right back Neolithic age and then takes you on a fantastic walk through time, right up to the modern day. Third and final exhibit is all around the Spanish Armada and specifically a ship that was sunk nearby and found relatively recently (late 60s/early 70s I think it said it was). There’s also a rooftop where you can get a view from all angles out over the rooftops in Derry although admittedly I didn’t enjoy it too much - it was a grey drizzly day so maybe would have been better with blue skies and good visibility but I couldn’t really see much today.
S W — Google review
Highly recommend. Came for the Derry Girls exhibition and stayed for the history of Derry. Very interesting.

A nice museum that showcases the rich history of Derry. If you like the show, "Derry Girls," you'll appreciate the exposition at the beginning!
Elizabeth A — Google review
We went wanting to see the Armada's excavation because one of our relatives were involved in the mission - sadly only the ground floor was available because the museum is re-locating to a bigger place and the exhibition above stairs are being carefully removed when we arrived. Yet when Sharon the lady at the front heard our intentions, she radioed her colleagues to give us a chance to see the exhibition on the 3rd floor anyway. We didn't expect this and didn't want to bother them in the busyness of it all. And yet when we were about to finish appreciating the amazing story-telling of the ground floor exhibitions, Sharon approached us, telling us she had arranged for a colleague Troy to escort us through the now not-available for the public part of the Armada exhibition to find photos of our relative. We were so surprised that they would be willing to do this and Troy whom accompanied us through the stairs were super humorous and kind as well. The two ladies we bumped into who were part of the removal team were also super kind and showed us a book that one of the divers published only a year ago. This was such a precious meeting/ opportunity. We were amazed at the kindness, professionalism, the team work and the personal-ness of the staff. We feel hugely heard, trusted and honored and were both deeply touched. What a wonderful bunch! Above and beyond is too light a description - just so touched and thankful for such warm-hearted people working in the museum. They said the relocation will be done in 18 months and described the interactive nature of the new exhibit - we look forward to the new location in 1.5 years and will for sure pay a visit again. Even though there was only the ground floor to explore, it did take a good 2 hours to fully appreciate the well-presented and creative exhibit and so it was well worth the visit anyway.

I had the great pleasure of visiting the Tower Museum in Londonderry a couple of weeks ago. I have to say that it was a fascinating experience in a really well laid out Museum. The thought process in the layout was exemplary and the way finding simple to follow. I was captivated by the exhibition of artifacts from a lost Armada ship. The descriptions of all of them were so well done that nothing was left to the imagination. All in all a captivating Museum and exceptional value for a modest entrance fee. The Lady on reception was welcoming and very friendly. She explained how to get the most from the museum and and all the artifacts. Many thanks for a wonderful experience.
John S — Google review
Very good museum with a little bit of everything. The Spanish Armada exhibition was a lot better than expected. They had a Derry Girls TV show exhibition when I visited which was great as a fan. There is also a piece about the Ferry and Irish history that was super educational. The views from the Roof Top are good as well. Price tickets are very affordable which was a big plus.
Yinzú N — Google review
Amazing! Derry girls exhibition is fantastic. Love the props and photo opportunities as well. Did not expect rest of museum to be so good. Well worth a visit and very reasonably priced. Loved it!
Anqela W — Google review
Well worth a visit. A fascinating mix of contemporary pop culture ("Derry Girls") an extensive history of the north of Ireland (excellent!), the Spanish Armada (much more complicated than I'd understood it) and the discovery of a wrecked Armada ship. Topped off with great views from the tower top.

Free Derry Corner, located in the Bogside area of Derry, is an iconic gable wall that serves as a historical landmark commemorating the city's time as an autonomous nationalist area from 1969 to 1972.
The wall, surrounding area and the Free Derry museum are a must visit for those interested in history, social history, social struggles and how a community and culture rises from the ashes. Book a walking tour and visit the places and stories of a marginalized community, who were subdued, beaten, discriminated against and murdered by forces of the Crown. You will then see how, through determination of spirit and forceful resistance, their stories give hope to other communities and races who are being opressed at this time. There are plaques, monuments, remembrance gardens, artistic murals (proper hand painted murals, not printed plastic ones like in Unionist areas of Belfast) and stories from local people. Take the time to understand the suffering this community was endured. TAL

I was overcome with emotion at this place. People walk around as if it's just another landmark or tourist attraction, but having any familial connection to the area makes this so much more powerful.
Devin G — Google review
Free Derry Corner is definitely a significant landmark with deep historical meaning, but as a visitor, I found the presentation quite one-sided. The focus leans heavily on a specific political perspective, which can make it feel more like a political statement than a balanced memorial. It’s not worth seeing. I would have appreciated a more neutral overview of the conflict and its impact on all sides.
Mike R — Google review
What can I say about Derry that hasn't already been said here. The most wonderful, amazing and enchanting place I think I've ever been to. If you don't know the history of Derry you need to dispense with Google and news papers and come here and be enlightened about how wonderful these people are. I've never felt a stronger sense of community and ownership of a home. Clean streets, fair prices and most of all friendly people who just want you to know about their history. "A nation that keeps one eye on the past is wise. A nation that keeps two eyes on the past is blind." Being from England I'd been steered in my understanding, I consider myself to have been educated by my visit. If you've never been to Derry, you're missing out in a very big way. Thank you Derry, you have a new and grateful friend.

This is a significant landmark that we have grown up with. It clearly shows the passions and beliefs that people hold close. A very poignant location that I would thoroughly recommend. I am glad that peace has allowed us to visit and reflect. Very thought provoking.

St Columb's Cathedral, located in Derry, Northern Ireland, is a stunning example of Planter Gothic architecture. Built between 1633 and 1776, it stands as the oldest surviving building in the city. Named after St. Columba, an Irish monk who established a Christian settlement in Derry in the 6th century, the cathedral played a significant role during the Plantation of Ulster.
St. Columb’s Cathedral is a stunning piece of history nestled within the walls of Londonderry. Its imposing Gothic architecture and serene atmosphere create a captivating experience. The cathedral’s interior is filled with intricate details, from the beautiful stained-glass windows to the ornate carvings. One of the highlights is the Chapter House Museum, which houses a fascinating collection of artifacts and documents related to the cathedral’s history. The museum offers a glimpse into the past, showcasing the cathedral’s significance in the city’s development. While the cathedral itself is impressive, it’s the peaceful ambiance that truly stands out. St Columb's Cathedral was built by the City of London in 1633. The current spire only dates from 1822. A fairly ordinary look for a Cathedral but an interesting interior and some beautiful stained glass.
Chris K — Google review
This cathedral is beautiful but sadly lacking anything resembling the Holy Spirit or Christ. It promotes the British military and oppressive colonial rule of the Irish people. Utterly horrifying defense of the indefensible. They should repent, remove the military displays, and seek the forgiveness and reconciliation of the poor and working class of Derry. They should be like Christ, not Cesar.

NEVER OPEN?! Even though they list the new-revised opening times on the door - it was seemingly never open when I went. Tried to visit twice, both times around noon (they say they're open 10:00am-3:00pm) but found all the doors to be locked solid. Not sure what's going on there, cool to look at from the outside though.

The Derry Walls, also known as the Derry City Walls, are a well-preserved set of defensive walls dating back to the early 17th century. They were built between 1613 and 1618 to protect English and Scottish settlers who had moved to Ulster as part of the Plantation of Ulster. These stone walls stand at approximately 6 meters (20 feet) high and are adorned with cannons, battlements, and watchtowers.

Derry Walls. There is so much history here and on a nice day can spend a few hours walking past / reading the important stories and milestones placed around the walls and cannons. Memorials, the place is full of history and sadness from the past.

Walking along the Derry Walls is a fantastic way to take in the city’s history. The views over the streets and River Foyle are great, and the walls themselves are well-preserved—worth spending some time exploring.

Really cool stop! Great way to see the city of Derry from the views of the walls. Go counter clock wise from the visitors center to avoid steep inclines. Great history and if you’re a Doherty a fun fact for you! if you weren’t aware our ancestors sacked the town in 1608, one of the first organized rebellions against the British Empire which was known as the Burning of Derry. Enjoy!

The Siege Museum in Derry is a must-visit attraction for history enthusiasts. It offers a deep dive into the events of the Siege of Derry and the traditions of the Apprentice Boys of Derry. The museum showcases original memorabilia from the popular comedy series 'Derry Girls,' adding a modern twist to its historical offerings. Visitors can also explore other nearby attractions such as The Museum of Free Derry, take a Bogside History Walking Tour, and visit St Augustine's Church.
Great group trip destination... Function room, lunch, museum tour and apprentice boys society tour. See Lundys effigy being constructed... Our tour included a short walk along the wall and access to the remains of the pillar

Fantasticly detailed exhihits and history examining the seige and history. Very cool trench artwork exhibit from WWI as well. Love to learn about the history of my new home country. Saw the parade a few weeks ago. And was reccomend this museum for full history. Proud to see how peaceful and welcoming everyone is after all of the struggles. Christians overcoming their differences ❤️ Psalms 37 (last image) 🙏 got a great engraved flask and cannon.

Interesting museum….but keep in mind it has a particular viewpoint of its own. Our guide was as fair minded as one could imagine one being from this group and he tried to distance himself and his group from extremism quite convincingly…..but he left me with more questions about his qualifiers. That said, I recommend visiting but consider balancing your Derry visit by visiting by the Museum of Free Derry as well.

Great museum about the siege spread over 3 floors. Lots of exhibits, videos, interactive displays and at the time we visited, had a few small exhibits related to the first world war. Small gift shop on the ground floor that sells, amongst other items, bullets that were dredged up from the Foyle from the actual battle! Well worth a visit if wanting to understand the history of Londonderry

The Bloody Sunday Monument in Derry is a significant site dedicated to the tragic events of January 30, 1972, when British paratroopers fired on protesters, resulting in the deaths of 14 civilians. The monument serves as a place to pay respects to those who lost their lives. Located near the Guildhall, which held the Bloody Sunday Enquiry, this area is filled with emotional significance and features powerful murals that depict the historical events.
This is a monument, in my opinion, extremely important to our heritage and the lives lost on this hoffiffic day of our families' friends' neighbours all local communities. We have been shown worldwide support over the years from all parts of Ireland and especially other countries. How a peaceful demonstration for civil rights ended in blood shed by the English police services. I was only a child of 4, growing up through the troubles relying on our elders. Most were young, 20-year-old upwards in age groups to gain peace. I like seeing tourists and local people visiting this piece of our history. I am typing this from my hometown, Derry Northern Ireland x ⚘️ 🌈 🌎 🇮🇪 🙏 ❤️

St. Eugene's Cathedral, a stunning example of Gothic Revival architecture, has been captivating visitors since its opening in 1873. This magnificent Roman Catholic cathedral stands proudly in Derry, Northern Ireland, with its impressive 256-foot spire dominating the skyline above the Bogside neighborhood. As the Mother Church of the Diocese of Derry, it holds great significance for local Catholics and serves as a symbol of their faith and resilience following centuries of repression. Dedicated to St.
What a beautiful building ,not only that ,what abeautiful interior Well kept ,gorgeous flowers adorning the altar . Stained glass windows and the altar are spectacular . O was there for a funeral ,and that too was a lovely experience, despite the sadness .

COOL CATHEDRAL! One of the things I like about Catholic Cathedrals is that they're open most of the time to visit for a prayer or something. It's the largest retail space in the North West of Northern Ireland and features leading shops and brands across three floors. Visitors can enjoy everything from traditional handmade knits to high street names and artisan foods.
This place is amazing, especially during holidays, they don’t shy away on Christmas and Halloween. They have places to eat, buy clothes, equipment, phones, everything you need! Place is very clean and connects to Fraisers for convenience. Definitely a 5 stars!

Foyleside is a solid shopping destination in Derry with a good variety of stores and food options. It’s clean, modern and conveniently located near the city centre and historic walls perfect for a quick stop or a longer browse. That said, the bathroom location is a bit of a hassle. It’s tucked away on the top floor, past the dining area, which feels unnecessarily far and inconvenient especially if you're in a rush. Still, it’s a reliable place to shop and relax, just be prepared for a bit of a trek as it will be a bit confusing at first.

St. Columba’s Church Long Tower, constructed in the late 18th century, stands as a significant landmark in Derry, Northern Ireland. Built around 1784, this Roman Catholic church was the first of its kind established after the Reformation and is notable for its stunning neo-Renaissance architecture. The church features an impressive domed tower and a beautifully crafted marble altar that adds to its charm.
Diverted off Derry's Walls to see St. Columba's Church. But only got looking through the doors. What an amazing interior. (Bride and groom who were being married picked a wonderful setting). Anyway, a consolation prize was the adjacent St. Columba Heritage Centre. Surprisingly interesting.
Francis A — Google review
I visited St Columba's Long Tower Catholic Church in Derry/Londonderry today and it was a most enjoyable experience. The Church is easy to locate. Drive over the Craigavon Bridge. At the roundabout turn left onto Abercorn Road and keep going straight on. At the top of a slight hill is a set of traffic lights. Go straight on through these traffic lights onto Barrack Street. There is a right turn marked in the middle of the road. Turn right here. This takes you onto Long Tower Street. The Church is directly in front of you on the left hand side of the road. There is a limited amount of parking in the Church grounds themselves but there is street parking outside of the Church. The alter is stunning in its beauty. The Church is packed full of paintings. It has a baptismal font in the Church. The Church has beautiful stained glass windows. There are statues inside of the Church and also outside of the Church. I would recommend a visit to St Columba's Long Tower Catholic Church in Derry/Londonderry.

The First Derry Presbyterian Church opened in 1780 on the site of an earlier Church of 1690. In 1820 the vestibule, pediment and cornices of Dungiven sandstone were added followed by the four fluted columns with Corinthian Capitals and the Portico in 1892. The Church has recently been re-opened following a programme of restoration works due to a severe outbreak of dry rot. The church has an amazing wooden ceiling and some beautiful stained-glass.

The group's politically charged artworks depict significant moments from Derry's troubled history during The Troubles.
What an incredible experience and dive into Irish history and perspective. So many different murals and stories to be told. Certainly worth doing some background history review prior to visiting and exploring Derry and these murals. You'll need to do a little more digging for locations to start your exploration. Once you do that, this is a must for any visit to Derry. We were only passing through, but ended up spending more time in Derry just to see as many as we could.

For some reason the google map showed us to some shops and offices. It caused our group a lot of confusion and wasted our time. The Murals that we saw were great when you find them but the only one near the canons is of the rather funny TV show, the Derry Girls, not the political ones. food was fine and the interior is really fun. It took 50 minutes, asking three times, and going up to the bar to get waters for the group I was with. Waitstaff that we had asked for water stood at host station were sipping soda & talking with their friends instead of helping us out. In addition, we watched several groups come in, order, eat, and pay before we received drinks or food. Lack of care on the part of staff outweighed anything lovely with the rest of the place.

Cool venue, quiet at lunch. Fab gluten free food! Perfect calamari. Highly recommend I originally ordered soup and toastie on gluten-free bread. When I was informed they’d run out of bread I realized just how many gluten free options were actually on the menu. So I ordered their deep fried calamari and chips. Amazing!! Delicate batter, soft calamari and crispy chips. Vegan mayo for my dairy and egg intolerant sister too.

We were looking forward to eating here after it came highly recommended. They don't take reservations, so when we came in at 6:45 (kitchen closed at 8) and there were several empty tables out front, 1 large table inside and a few out back, we thought they could accommodate our small group of 4 for dinner. They explained they just couldn't possibly feed us as the kitchen was closing (in an hour and a half). We asked if some other establishment nearby was open later. Were told to try another bar/restaurant down the street. Arrived and the door man wouldn't let us in because our younger child (13y) was too young...a fact your staff member undoubtedly knew would prevent us from dining there either. We saw your man as we walked by looking for another place to eat. He laughed at us. Apparently sending hungry families on a futile hunt is good craic for your staff. It's okay, we had a lovely meal, dropped £200 at another establishment and laughed and laughed with the kind folks who wanted to welcome diners, not play games. We would never treat people like this in my home city. So sad you feel the need to.

This historic building underwent expansion in 1937, adding new quarters dedicated to those who lost their lives during World War One.
A very welcoming environment to visit and educationally there is a lot to offer visitors at the Siege Museum

The Apprentice Boys Memorial Hall is best known as the headquarters of the Apprentice Boys of Derry but there is much more behind the doors of what is affectionately known as “The Mem”. As well as the Apprentice Boys meeting rooms there are meeting rooms for both the Orange Order and the Women’s Orange Order and the Royal Black Preceptory. The Hall is also home to the Society Social Club which organises social events for the members of all the organisations which use the hall. They also organise the “Crimson Balls” after the two main Apprentice Boys Celebrations in December and August. Two of the finest flute bands in Northern Ireland also call the Hall their home. The Churchill Flute Band, the oldest flute band in the world and the William King Memorial Flute Band both practice every week in the Hall. The Crimson Players drama group bring the stage in the main hall to life with their pantomimes and variety shows. They are best known recently for providing the period re-enactment of the Relief of Derry at the start of the parade each August. In 2013 work began on a new museum and exhibition space beside the hall on Society Street. The extension will enable the Association to continue to develop the work in promoting understanding of our history and culture. The new Siege Museum and Exhibition will be a permanent display of the history of the Siege of Londonderry and of the Associated Clubs of the Apprentice Boys of Derry, including artefacts, video and interactive media. Visitors will also have the added attraction of being able to view one of the finest collections of meeting rooms used by the 'Loyal Orders'. There are separate rooms for each of the orders

The St Columba Heritage Centre is housed in a 19th-century school building within the Long Tower Church grounds. It offers an intriguing insight into the life of St Columba, the patron Saint of Derry, and the city's ancient monastic routes. The exhibition takes place in a category B2 listed building and includes child-friendly activities as well as a film about monks in the Middle Ages. Visitors can also learn about early settlement in Derry and enjoy learning experiences for both adults and children.
Child friendly activities and a movie on the life of Monks in the middle ages. For grown ups the story of Monks travelling by boat from Ireland through Scotland and continental Europe down to Germany and Italy in the middle ages. Incredible! And a different take on this city that does not involve the Troubles. Thanks to friendly staff Giovanni! Just follow directions for the "Long Tower" as there are other Towers in town.

This place is a hidden gem in our wee city. The centre tells the story of Colmcille in a professional and interesting way and the guide was enthusiastic and knowledgeable. I feel a deeper connection with the history of Derry having visited. The round tower is something I would love to see developed for tourism and education. With deeper digging, who knows what we could discover about the importance of the Doire monastic settlement and its importance to Europe in medieval times.

This place tells the story of Saint Columba / Columb's and I did find it interesting, but alot of the displays and Lights were not working when I was there. They have a large screen tv were you can watch 4 different videos tells the story's of Saint Columba, but although the sound was playing, there was no picture. A member of staff did get it going again with a bit of tweeking. Had everything being working then I would've given this place 5 stars. Theres also a cafe although I didn't have time to check it out.

This place is wonderful, and the staff is absolutely brilliant!!! We came here for their Medieval Ink workshop during the Halloween Festival and it was the BEST decision we made. The workshop itself was great, very fun and interactive, but what truly captured us was how passionate, wonderful and knowledgeable the staff was. They were so fun and so willing to answer any and all of our many questions. Not only that, but we even ended up getting a private tour of the city with of the staff members, which was a treat in and of itself. Not only was she incredibly educated about the history of the place, but she was also so humble and so willing to share her own opinions and to learn alongside us. It was a wonder to see how much she knew - dates, names places - without having to look up anything! It is clear that the staff is fully dedicated to heritage work and ir makes me so happy to see they have found a place where they can share that with the world. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU! To all Derry visitors - please come by and see for yourself, you won't regret it!

St Columb's Hall, located in Derry, is a historic independent venue with original architectural charm. The spacious hall and grand balcony make it an ideal space for various events. Once an old theater, the venue hosts live music events, including the annual Celtronic festival. Built in 1886 and undergoing major refurbishment in 2013, this stunning building retains its original character while being transformed into a multi-purpose facility.

A beautiful, historical building. Lovely staff, and a great location. However, it is in need of some serious TLC. Many of the fixtures are in disrepair, the hall smells musty, and it clearly isn't well maintained - likely from lack of funding. Edited to answer the owner's question: I attended the Irish Video Game Orchestra, which was a great night out!

The Foyle Valley Railway Museum, situated in the village of St. Johnston near Derry, features both indoor and outdoor displays. Visitors can explore a replica train station and vintage locomotives while also enjoying a nature trail along the picturesque River Foyle. Housed in a former railway station, the museum provides an intriguing look into the local railway history.
My son (a train fanatic) and I went to the Halloween event here. ('The Haunted Railway Museum'). It far exceeded my expectations! Truly scary and very realistic (unfortunately for me!). My son made me go first and I was screaming all the way, with ghouls and witches jumping out at me! And that was with me also having to contend with swarms of marching zombies!! The worst bit was when someone/thing grabbed my leg!! I must be grateful to this person/creature though as they were the only one to catch my son out and scare him as well as me!! We are going to return when normality returns!!!

Nestled in the vibrant Bogside neighborhood, Bond Street is a treasure trove of captivating murals that tell the story of Derry's complex history. The iconic "You Are Now Entering Free Derry" monument marks the entrance to this self-declared Nationalist enclave, originally painted in 1969. As you stroll along Bond Street, you'll encounter an impressive array of murals adorning houses and walls, each one reflecting the rich tapestry of local culture and political sentiment.
Having visited the impressive Republican murals at the Free Derry Corner, I wanted to visit the Unionist murals to add contrast. However, I saw they were not clearly listed and could only be found on obscure websites. So I followed a lead to this area, hoping to find a few, but noticed that it has a large concentration of murals painted on houses which go along the entirety of Bond Street, with some in the conjoining car park (Waterside theatre) that links with the street. Thus, I made this listing. I noticed that old photos of murals that used to be here are no longer, so perhaps they sporadically change them? Worth visiting for a condensed set of unionists paintings which can be viewed within close proximity of each other - like the murals on the Free Derry Corner. ALSO, there was a new mural showing appreciation of NHS workers during this Covid time at the entrance of the street, so it indicates that art is always being added.

The facility also caters to special occasions with the option for light sociable drinks or parties for both adults and kids. Visitors appreciate the friendly staff and good deals on food/bowls or food/movies.
Brilliant wee spot. Stopped in here a few times as a fun way to spend a few hours. There’s arcade games, pool, bowling, arcade, cinema, booze and food - it’s got everything! Prices are reasonable enough for this sort of place. Pool tables can be rented by 30 minute slots (or an hour). There’s a deal where you can get both a game of bowling and a meal at Martha’s Vineyard (which is also excellent but that’s another review). Staff are all very friendly too.
S W — Google review
Place is amazing, food is good, love the pool tables, bowling & darts, booking is easy whether in person or online and, of course, machines are rigged. My only problem is the cleanliness, movie theatres can be left with popcorn on the floor when coming in and the Bananas play area. Would’ve been 5 stars, if cleanliness could be improved then it would be great.
Kev Q — Google review
I'm only rating the cinema, it's comfortable etc concessions are tasty. I will try go more often. Was delighted when they screened Scream again this year. The part I walk through to get there is a noisy nightmare, but that's what the people who go to that part are going for!

Best Bowling Alley! Can’t fault it, great atmosphere, drinks, service, music, cleanliness too tier. The cinema is also great, it’s our favourite one to go to. There’s plenty of films to chose from, good amount of showings, great snacks. Arcades great too.

We regularly go to Brunswick and all the staff are always so friendly and helpful. A special thank you to all the staff working in the cinema last night. There was an issue with the system which delayed us for a short time but the staff were so apologetic and kind. They kept reassuring us that we wouldn't miss our movie. We really appreciated being handed a complimentary pass when we were leaving. It was a lovely gesture. Thanks again ❤️

My favourite arcade in the country. We've literally driven from Belfast to go here over any other arcade, twice. There's food, bowling, a cinema, arcade machines, over 18s gaming section, pool & a soft play area for kids. Not a clue how they managed to fit that all in one building Huge variety of arcade games, including two punching bags, air hockey, crane games, coin dozers, and everything in between. Much of my great British tender has been well spent here 😔 Can't speak for the movie and the bowl bit as we have too much fun in the arcade bit 😭 Overall, a brilliant spot for friends, dates & families; as there's so many different things to do.

A STRIKE of an Experience! (Also I lost my shoe but it’s fine, I found love... maybe.) I came to this bowling alley last Saturday night (yes, I wore my giant bowling shoes I proudly own — don’t ask why, just accept it). Somewhere between gutter balls, my big shoe VANISHED. Like, full-on flew off my foot. I looked under benches and couldn't find it. A member of staff...Tall, charming, with the kind of smile that says, “I’ve dealt with weirder things today.” He swooped in like a Disney prince but instead of a glass slipper, he found my big massive shoe under someone's coat. He handed it back with a wink and said, “We always return lost soles.” (Okay maybe he didn’t say that, but he should’ve the wee dote.) Anyway, the lanes were great, the vibes were class, and I may or may not have developed a small crush on the guy who saved my shoe and possibly my life of embarrassment walking out with one big shoe on. 10/10 would lose my shoe again.

It is a nice venue for music concerts. I've been there twice. Lighting is nice. Sound is good. Stained glass windows are pretty. It is a long sit on the uncomfortable pews though, particularly when five people shove in beside you.
