Nestled along the picturesque banks of the River Foyle, City Hotel Derry is a stunning waterfront property that offers an ideal blend of comfort and style. With 158 well-appointed rooms and suites, including luxurious penthouse options, this hotel provides a perfect retreat for travelers seeking both relaxation and adventure. My parents are just home from a night away with friends and are telling me how enjoyable their stay was. They mentioned Carla and how helpful she was from showing them where they needed to go right through to helping them get booked for dinner, and the next morning, nothing was a problem and she is a credit to your team. Thank you

Room we had was huge, bathroom huge - a nice treat from some of the usual smaller rooms we have experienced in Ireland. The hotel is being updated and the rooms are ready for it but still nice. The food at Thompsons was fab and the service was excellent!! Free welcome drink as well! Location couldn't be better. an excellent experience!
SuziebeesLittlebits — Google review
Our stay at this hotel was very disappointing. The rooms were outdated, and the shower in our first room had no hot water, forcing us to move to a much smaller room. Lighting was poor, and basic amenities like towels were lacking—we had to request them twice, and when they finally arrived, one had a brown stain on it. None of the rooms looked anything like the photos advertised on the website, which was very misleading. There was also no mention of ongoing renovations when we booked. Parking added to the frustration with an unexpected charge of £14 per day. The hotel seemed understaffed, and the staff that were present didn’t appear particularly welcoming or enthusiastic. The swimming facilities were another letdown. The jacuzzi was broken, the men’s changing rooms had a strong, unpleasant odor, and cleanliness overall was questionable. To make matters worse, the website promotes a rooftop bar, but in reality it is reserved for private functions only and not available to guests—another case of false advertising. Overall, this stay fell well short of expectations, and between the misleading photos, hidden renovations, and poor service, I would not recommend this hotel.

I booked this hotel a year in advance for 3 night over halloween. A few days before I received a message to say that there was renovations work going on in the hotel. You cant access the hotel from the front and instead have to go to the underground car park (£14 a night to park) to access the reception. My room wasnt ready at 3pm. I was told in a not so pleasant way that the rooms are read FROM 3 pm. Never in my 30 years of travelling have I been told that. While on a call to my friend the receptionist Interjected herself into my conversation, which was not about her, but the shambles I had found when I arrived. The receptionist then told me to feel free to cancel. Thats not really possible when there's no other accommodation in Derry. The room has no working radiator only a dyson heater which is loud and the dry air has effected my chest. We had to sleep with 2 quilts round us. Even the corridor is freezing. At breakfast I brought to the staffs attention that there where some dirty plates. He removed around 12 plates. At 200 pounds per night this hotel is wayover priced. The curtains are torn and covered in cigarette burns. Some staff are very apologetic but that doesn't change the fact I have not got what I paid for which was A 4 star hotel.
L D — Google review
Group visit and all staff were extremely helpful. Great location and hotel was spotless even though its having renovations done. This didn't impact us at all. Lacey and Shania in the restaurant were so helpful and couldn't do enough for us and nothing was too much trouble. Will definitely visit again.
MAST K — Google review
Rooms very dated, definitely wouldn't say 4 star! Would have expected some kind of welcome pack in the room with basic information. The pillows need replaced as very flat, lamp didn't work in corner of room, lack of sockets too. Additional £14 to park was a bit pricey considering the state of the place. Reception staff on check-in were very friendly and helpful, same can't be said for the staff member who 'greeted' us at breakfast, if he smiled his face would crack! Disappointing stay to be honest, paid 4 star prices but didn't get 4 star accommodation! We were not made aware of the major work being done as when I called reception to ask if work was still ongoing I was told 'no work at the minute' which was true...no builders on site but the place is a building site and this should be advised to people before booking!
Angela R — Google review
Bad experience! I have read some bad reviews before, but truly understand them after checking in. The staff was unhelpful, they downgraded us the room but charged the same without even telling us. I found it out when comparing my booking details. The room is not soundproof. The parking was a nightmare. The entry was blocked due to renovations.
Lily X — Google review
We stayed for a family weekend which was part of a bus trip and had a great time. The family room was large, clean, older (pre refurb) but still nice and we saw my mum & dad's room which was a recently refurbished room, it was gorgeous so the full refurb is sure to be a winner! Our package included 3 course meals on 2 nights which were good, kids were well catered for and their meals were ordered and arrived first (a great tactic when there's almost 50 total members to serve!) Live music on Saturday evening and we were able to use the restaurant space for a table quiz as there were no other large parties booked in the area. We really enjoyed our time here, so accessible to the city and lots in the area to enjoy. We didn't even make it down to the pool but I heard from others that its good! Would happily return, thank you!

Nestled along the serene banks of a river in Londonderry, the Waterfoot Hotel is a contemporary haven that perfectly blends comfort and style. With its airy restaurant and two inviting bars, guests can indulge in delightful Irish cuisine at The Wine Bar or opt for room service during select hours. The hotel boasts 44 well-appointed rooms and offers complimentary Wi-Fi and parking, ensuring a hassle-free stay. Just minutes away from Enagh Lough and St.
Hotel is perfect and the bar downstairs is great too. But the food is why im writing this whilst im still at the hotel. I ordered the Scampi and it was far too good. So good that it has made me deeply angry because I know I'll never have a plate of scampi that good until I come back here. Thanks Caisleain Oir hotel for making me unable to order scampi again anywhere else. Should be a 1 star review for that really, but it was too good.
Corinna B — Google review
overall it was OK I'll be honest, however. the rooms were like sauna and we had 3 rooms. one had a fan and the others didn't. outside the window is one of the building fans which makes a bit of noise and clangs. the beds were like bricks. staff although friendly seem put of by a group if younger teens which didn't help. the bartender was amazing and made my night and I really appreciate him. at the end of the day it's not a 5 star however if you're looking st staying more than a night I'd recommend maybe looking for their better rooms or even another hotel due to some inconsistencies with the rooms with one having a fan and the other not but having a hairdryer.
Noah S — Google review
Stayed for 2 nights at end of August. Checked in later on in evening and upon arrival, the staff member at reception was brilliant (25th August PM). Room was ok, maybe a bit tired, but was spotless and very warm. Breakfast was good, with a good selection; however, it was the staff here that let the team down. One in particular who stood with his hands in his pockets glaring at us whilst we ate. Martin in The Snug Bar was also worth a shout out. Absolute gentleman, to whom nothing was too much trouble. A proper Ulster barman. Dinner in the restaurant was great with a good selection. Would definitely keep an eye out and visit again

7 days in Ireland and by far the worst quality hotel. We have been to 3 star hotels better than this 4 star. Disgusting dirty rooms with big mold spots multiple places in the bathroom. Very bad smell from the room when we walked inside. They were not even able to give us another room. Poor quality furniture and old bed. We cant recommend staying here for health reasons. It's not safe for anyone to stay at Waterfoot hotel.

Beautiful venue, Brilliant service, To-die-for food, Catered for our every need! The manager Adam was so lovely and done all the hard work for us when organising the event, and the night itself couldn’t have ran any smoother thanks to Ravi , Darrel and team! Would highly recommend the Waterfoot Hotel to anyone planning an event!

Stayed one night , lovely comfy and clean room. The restaurant is a must, food amazing and very well priced . The bar and barman so friendly with good service and a chat

First time here eating out and last .. it took a hour and a half to serve our main course, absolutely ridiculous and the starter was 5 tiny pieces of salted chilli chicken for 10 quid ?? Dinner wasn't worth waiting for , took another 30 minutes to get dessert. Safe to say I won't be back here again .
Lothburke — Google review
We are just back from a night here and it was last minute booking and valentines night. We were greeted by a receptionist who was lovely the room was clean and lovely too. The food was out of this world every single thing at dinner was mouth watering good we can’t wait to have dinner here again. Also the breakfast was lovely and staff went out of their way to make porridge for our baby which she loved. Every single staff member was lovely and friendly it really made our stay. We will definitely be back.

Nestled in a charming locale, Da Vinci's Hotel boasts elegantly designed rooms that exude sophistication. Guests can indulge in delightful culinary experiences at the on-site bistro and cozy gastropub, all while enjoying complimentary parking. Recent transformations have breathed new life into the establishment, with attentive staff like Leona making every visit memorable. Her warm hospitality and professionalism shine through, ensuring that diners feel valued and well-cared for.
I was booked into here on a business trip for the full weekend. The rooms are spacious and clean. The bathroom was lovely and very hygienic. Had a good selection on the breakfast menu in the morning, too. The bar looks absolutely amazing, just a shame I was not there long enough to be able to spend time there, but it did look like it would be fun to drink at if you are a guest staying there at the weekend. The only down fall is that it is quite far to get to if you want to get to anything in the centre. Plus side is that you can book a taxi from the reception area, and it is between £5 to £6 so it wouldn't break the bank. I really wouldn't suggest trying to walk it though as it is really far to walk to/from. Overall I really enjoyed my stay. Very friendly and helpful staff.

We stayed here for one night while on our honeymoon. The location was perfect for checking out Derry. We were also able to leave our car after we checked out which was convenient. My husband went to the bar and really enjoyed chatting with the bartenders there while enjoying a few pints. The bartenders were very friendly and offered up suggestions of things to try! The rooms were clean, and the breakfast was delicious in the morning. Overall great value for the stay, we would stay again.

Popped in for dinner as we hadn’t been in a while. Food was excellent, especially the haddock and sundae dessert. Young lad with a southern accent who served us was brilliant, didn’t get his name. Will be back again.

Easter Sunday dinner. So very disappointing. Starters? Consisted of potato salad coleslaw noodles cocktail sausages chicken wings soup???? No salad?? Mains. Beef lamb turkey ham. We had 8 adults at the table so selection of all. Beef was AWFUL!!!!!!’ Seams of fat throughout. Roast potatoes like bricks. No green veg on offer. Cauliflower cheese without the cheese and rock hard. Gravy. Water with colour. Turnip nice. Dessert. Well. Go to the main cash n carry and the gateaux’s and peanut almond cake can be the same. Cheesecake was whipped cream on digestive biscuit. Where was the cheese? All in all £28 for the meal. Not with it and all of us will not be back. Shocking and disappointing

Very easy access ,plenty of parking . The staff were lovely if the service was not a little slow. Breakfast on day one was poor enough, but on day two was much better equipped ,perhaps because there was a bus tour staying . The breakfast service was good but there could have been more staff on as the two girls serving were run off their feet .

Room cards was a disaster, stayed overnight and have to have our cards updated every time we go out, we stayed on the third floor, going up-down to the reception to get our cards sorted are not nice . No bottle of water in room for guests,no safe. Waiting at the bar for 15 minutes, I know there's only 1 staff working, but at least he could speak to the waiting customer instead of ignoring, I'm more annoyed he just concentrate on both side's customers (who came after us as well), and we just waiting in front of the till area. Had sandwiches and soup for lunch, soup was terrible, blend and tasteless. Dinner was ok but not the chicken curry. Both staff service and meals need to be improved. Not a nice overnight stay experience for us.

Arrived into Da Vinci's for breakfast, after a very early flight from Manchester, on our way home to Omagh. Both of us extremely hungry, We were greeted by the smartest looking man by the name of David Pollock, he could not do enough for us, I cannot praise him enough. The breakfast was scrumptious, the scrambled eggs were delicious, the sausages were the best I have ever tasted, my husband loved everything, in particular the black pudding. We used the bathrooms and they were spotless infact one of ladies was cleaning at time and was very pleasant. Well done Da Vinci's, we will return. Shared on FB for you x

My husband and I stopped by for Sunday lunch and were absolutely delighted with our experience! Parking: There’s plenty of it, which made arriving stress-free. Service: The staff were attentive, friendly, and made us feel right at home. Food: We both opted for the Sunday roast, and it was fantastic! Perfectly cooked, flavorful, and generous portions – I can’t recommend it enough. The place is also very child-friendly, with a welcoming atmosphere for families, and the prices are very reasonable for the quality. We’ll definitely be returning!

The Everglades Hotel is a modern establishment located on the banks of the River Foyle, just minutes from Derry-Londonderry. It offers 64 tasteful guest bedrooms, conference space, a library bar and an airy grill restaurant. The hotel also boasts the North-West's largest ballroom for weddings, live shows and events. While some guests have reported issues with room odor and breakfast quality, others have praised the friendly staff and comfortable beds.
We were 3 sisters staying for 3 nights in a superior family room which was a reasonable size and very clean. We had a very enjoyable stay. The staff at the hotel were very pleasant, polite and helpful. Food in the restaurant was excellent with a good choice for both breakfast and dinner. Very attentive staff. Two of our three nights it was very busy at dinner but we had been advised of this. On a couple occasions we had to request towels, tea, milk because room was only made up for 2 guests instead of 3. This was quickly put right with a quick call to reception. This was our first time at the Everglades and a very enjoyable experience.
Alwyn S — Google review
I did not stay at the venue but attended solely for the Sunday carvery, which had been highly recommended by many. Unfortunately, the experience fell significantly short of expectations. I would not recommend to anyone nor would I return. We attended as a party of 5. The selection was limited and underwhelming, with several hygiene concerns noted — including dirty dishes, tea-stained cups, and lipstick marks on glasses. The ice cream appeared to have suds, suggesting it may have been served in a bowl that wasn’t properly rinsed. Service during dinner felt rushed. While the staff were polite and did their best, they seemed inexperienced. Something as simple as a diluted juice took between 20–35 minutes to arrive. At £30 per person, plus a discretionary tip, we expected a much higher standard. While we're happy to pay for quality, this was a disappointing experience from start to finish. It was also quiet and the last sitting of the day!

Came to the Everglades on Saturday for afternoon tea. Could not recommend enough - relaxing atmosphere with live piano music, food was brilliant (the vegan afternoon tea was superb!). Finn was so attentive and helpful, thank you! We will definitely be back to celebrate another special occasion.
Jessica K — Google review
Hotel was generally clean and tidy although the restaurant seats were not cleaned very well. I can’t fault the bar staff and the restaurant staff were polite. My only complaints would be around the dining experience - we had booked a table but the girl who met us at the restaurant seemed a little surprised but seated us and took our drink order. After approx 30 mins we still hadn’t received a drink so I went to the bar to get one myself as I was thirsty at this stage. The food at dinner was lovely although not as hot as it could have been. Breakfast was well cooked and presented but the plates were stone cold which then unfortunately ment the breakfast went cold quickly. I guess just little things but not what I’d expect of a hotel of this standard. Finally and to reiterate again the staff are excellent.
Ritchie M — Google review
We thoroughly enjoyed our brief stay with you. The Room, breakfast & dinner deal was good. The food was excellent, all the staff were friendly and helpful. A nice, discreet, pleasant service. We will definitely come back. Many thanks, John and family

We met Finn a few times now and loved coming for another afternoon tea which was just amazing. Finn is amazing at looking after the customers, The piano playing was first class and so calming. The only downside is it’s now dog friendly and the lady next to us had a dog which was jumping and excited as we were eating. She then proceeded to take the dog into the disabled toilets !!!! It was a cocker spaniel not a guide dog ….. unfortunately it wouldn’t be for us in the future which is a shame.

I had Sunday Lunch in the Everglades ballroom recently. I must say I enjoyed the experience thoroughly. The selection and quality of food was great. We headed to the lounge bar to rest and finish out drink, and were greeted by a wonderful young man, Kai. Will be returning soon.

What a terrible hotel. Room had a bug flying around in it when we got into it. There was a giant tour bus blocking the front entrance when we arrived so we couldn’t get in and then the hotel staff did nothing to help us with our bags as we attempted to get past the bus. The breakfast was awful and very limited. There was no shuttle into town and no ride share apps. While at the hotel it was completely overrun by obnoxious tour bus people who cut in front of everyone and tracked in a massive pack. The dishes were dirty in many cases which was gross and the towels smelled strongly of bleach. The bar staff was excellent but that’s the best I can say for this place unfortunately. There is no way this is a 4 star hotel. STAY AWAY! More clarification after managements response. 1) the bus was blocking the front making it impossible to get through multiple times during our stay. We had to walk through a rose bush to get in. 2) let me clarify I did not intend to apply all people who take a tour bus are obnoxious what I am talking about are the specific ones in the hotel at the time of our stay who were obnoxious to the point of disrupting other guests which did deter from the experience I was going to stop there but since your response was so dismissive I will also add that the hot water was broken throughout our stay.

Bishop's Gate Hotel Derry is a refined 19th-century hotel offering warm rooms and suites, along with dining options and a champagne bar. Guests have praised the smooth check-in process, secure parking facilities, and attentive staff who provide excellent customer service. The hotel's luxurious rooms and public areas create a quiet and relaxed atmosphere for visitors to enjoy. Its proximity to the city wall of Londonderry adds to its appeal as an ideal accommodation choice in the area.
Met at the door by a friendly concierge who took my car to the valet parking facility. Staff at reception also very friendly and welcoming. We stayed one night and had a reservation for dinner in the Wig and Gown. Everything was fantastic from start to finish. I went for the Tomahawk steak(highly recommend this!). They stock craft beer at the bar including Barking Bishop which was nice too. The whole hotel is spotless, rooms well decorated and comfortable beds. This was my first time staying here and I will be back in the near future. Highly recommended

Another brilliant overnight stay at Bishop's Gate. Cannot fault this hotel: from amazing staff who are so friendly to the rooms and the food. Our meal in the restaurant was faultless (the chowder was particularly good) and the breakfasts are fresh and cooked to order. A special thanks to Niamh on reception and Sinéad in the restaurant.

Can I start by saying the staff and service is excellent and usually I'd give 5 🌟 every time but my main meal of fillet steak was very chewy and not very tasty . The restaurant manager was very good and didn't charge me the additional 8 pounds for it. What's upset me was while checking out I was presented with a bill for the 8 pounds. I explained that the restaurant manager had waved this but I was made to feel as if I was trying to sneak out without paying which to be honest along with the poor meal spoiled my whole stay.

Loved this hotel. Right from the start the staff was welcoming and sweet. Loved the decor and intimacy of this place. Food was good and nicely located to walk to pubs and town. Would highly recommend.

Amazing boutique hotel. We stayed in their Junior Suite which was spacious, clean and comfortable. The staff were so friendly, attentive and professional. Very well deserving of the awards on their wall. Would definitely book again if we ever return to the maiden city.

Place is really nice right in the center of the walled city. Walk to pubs and restaurants. Staff is extremely nice and accommodating (must be an Irish thing cause they’re so nice everywhere). We stayed in a lovely two bedroom apartment suite with sitting room. Great water pressure and A/C (which is really rare)! Be sure to bring the right charging adapters because the rooms are older and there are no USB ports or updated chargers. The old style room key is a bit inconvenient and getting an ice bucket cost me money. Breakfast is really good. Overall great hotel. Would stay again.
Erez S — Google review
Without a doubt, it was one of the best hotels I have visited. It is of high quality, without being too stuffy, it is classy, without being too pricey. The rooms are very good, the breakfast is fantastic, the location (2 minutes from the Diamond) is super handy.) But it's No1 quality, the staff (every single one we met) were absolutely brilliant. Friendly, helpful, welcoming - they genuinely went so out of their way to make you happy and ensure you were having fun

Maldron Hotel Derry is a modern and centrally located hotel within the historic city walls, offering 90 rooms and three suites. The hotel features a lively restaurant, a pub with live music, and an exercise room. Guests can enjoy afternoon tea at the Lyric Bar or take in live music every Saturday night. With spectacular views of the famous Bogside and the Peace Bridge from some rooms, this hotel provides easy access to local shopping centers, restaurants, bars, and shops.
Had a great night at the Maldron. Fabulous location, walking distance to pubs and shops. Staff at the reception are friendly and helpful. We were lucky to get parked in their car park. The room was spacious and the bed was comfy. Breakfast was great, good variety at a reasonable price.

Had a great stay. The room was impeccably clean, spacious, and well-equipped with all the essentials. The location is unbeatable. Right near pubs, tasty restaurants, and must-see attractions. The staff were exceptional, going out of their way to fulfill every request with genuine warmth, which made the experience special. My only complaint is the lack of a thermostat in the rooms, which left things a tad stuffy at times. Despite this, the team’s efforts to ensure our comfort were top-notch. Would definitely recommend and return!

I stayed for 2 nights attending a wedding nearby. The hotel and city was busy with road closures and disruption. I rang reception as I was having difficulty getting to the hotel and they were brilliant. I ate dinner the first night at the hotel and service and staff were excellent. The housekeeper was amazing, I was in a bit of a fret about my outfit for the wedding and she was lovely. I met her the day after and she was so personable asking how I had enjoyed the day etc. I needed a bag to match my outfit, yes, last minute.com and reception were great at advice. I think the location is great but the staff from background to front facing are the biggest asset this hotel offered. If you are in Derry, check out the Maldron, you won't be disappointed

We had our wedding here at the Maldron Hotel on Saturday 4th of October. It was amazing from start to finish. We cannot give high enough praise to Chiree Bowen who organised the whole event. Everything flowed from start to finish and all the hotel staff were extremely helpful and friendly and went out of their way to accommodate us and our wedding guests in any way they could. The food was also fantastic. We know many of our guests will be returning to the hotel again as we will too. We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone. Peter and Josie

Just had a great stay at the Maldron. Perfectly located for all the things we wanted to do locally and plenty of options for food and drink nearby. Have to mention Shannon on reception who was exceptional. What an excellent advocate for the hotel and the brand. Couldn't do enough to help and so genuinely warm and friendly. Thanks Shannon for making our trip that little bit brighter.

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Derry Maldron Hotel. The staff were so friendly and helpful. We had an issue with some usb ports in our room and Claire bent over backwards to resolve the problem quickly. Aisling in the restaurant and Noreen at reception were amazing and so kind and welcoming. We quite appreciated the full tub/shower in our room, as every other hotel we stayed at during our trip had small standup showers with 1/2 glass walls, so the bathroom floor would be soaked by the time we were done showering. One hotel’s bathroom door and trim boards were rotting due to water saturation from the shower. The room and bathroom were very clean and comfortable. My one recommendation would be to refresh the caulking around the tub. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Derry.

Superb service at front desk from Caoimhe and Shannon. Two outstanding individuals . They treat people with professionalism and dignity. Shannon sorted out an issue I had with a double payment , I was blown away by her approach and her wanting to make sure everything was perfect for my stay.

Unhelpful staff unfortunately made to feel unwelcome. I thought as a guest you were there to be made feel welcomed. Poor service sadly. Super slow lifts too. Hardwood old floors and the beds roll away when you lean against the wall it's crazy! Really annoying had to jam the wheels to get a night's sleep. Was here for Halloween and spent way too much. The hotel is in a great location, walking distance from all the greatest shops and pubs. This was my first time in ireland and the hotel and staff made the experience stress free and made me feel pampered in every way!!

We stayed here while visiting Derry for a couple of days. The location is great but since its a small town everything you need is 10 minutes walk . Nice bar inside the reception and with many options. Friendly staff ready to accommodate you. The room had all the amenities, comfy beds but the floors were dirty and had lots of stains.

2 stars since the hotel staff was great/ very accommodating but please DO NOT stay here if you’re looking for restful sleep. There is a club next door that stays open until 2AM and you will hear every word to every song. Extremely loud and the walls are paper thin. I repeat do not book here if you don’t want to try and sleep above a rave going on next door

Excellent location, check in good, Bernie very friendly and helpful, bar area very sticky/ dirty/ poor service. Room was freezing cold. Breakfast was nice but very hectic, Christine was especially lovely and smiled throughout and nothing was too much hassle. Overall ok but room for improvement in certain areas!

For such a perfectly located hotel, I'm at a loss as to what I experienced. I asked the bar attendant for some water... to be exact a cup of water and she refused. She told me to go across the street to a little grocery and buy some. When I talked to the on call manager, he provided the appropriate lip service, but there was no true understanding of how disrespectful that was to me. He made a comment that this was a mystery. The room is fine, but the bathroom had a wall of mildew. Location is perfect for everything you want to do in Derry.

We were very impressed with the hotel. The staff were extremely friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Lots of choice for breakfast which was included in the price. You can park for half price in the Quay car park across the road. We visited the hotel’s Kaboodle bar for drinks and food and were very impressed. Would definitely stay again and have no hesitation in recommending this hotel in an ideal location for exploring the city.

The Shipquay Boutique Hotel is amazing. Where to start? The staff of this hotel are incredible. Hands down the most friendly and knowledgeable staff I have ever met. They had restaurant suggestions, maps on where to go jogging in the morning, and shopping suggestions. The breakfast was delicious - the best scone I had on my trip to Ireland and Northern Ireland. The room and bathroom were lovely - had a great night sleep.

A Regal Respite in the Heart of Londonderry During my recent passage through the storied lands of Europe, I had the distinct honour of lodging within a most splendid architectural marvel nestled in the vibrant quarters of Londonderry. The establishment none other than the esteemed Shipquay Boutique Hotel stood as a beacon of elegance and refinement, a true jewel amidst the city's bustling charm. I was graciously bestowed the Diamond Room, a chamber befitting nobility, perched high above the city streets with commanding views that stirred the soul. Its interiors were a harmonious blend of modern décor and timeless sophistication plush furnishings, tasteful accents, and an ambiance that whispered luxury with every detail. Though my arrival was delayed by the demands of travel, I was received with warmth and courtesy, as though I were a long-awaited dignitary. The staff, ever attentive, ensured my comfort without hesitation, proving that hospitality here is not merely a service, but a tradition. In all, I would bestow upon this fine establishment a perfect rating of 5 out of 5 stars. It is a haven I would most assuredly recommend to any traveller seeking comfort, style, and a touch of royal indulgence. Whether one journeys for leisure or duty, the Shipquay Boutique Hotel shall not disappoint. kind regards, Lord David Christopher Hoch

Me and my husband absolutely love this hotel! We stayed when he first came to visit Northern Ireland and then we booked again for our mini moon. We absolutely love the breakfast. This time we ate in the restaurant which was included in our room deal and the food was to die for!! The staff are so lovely. The receptionists always greet you with a smile as you come in and are very knowledgeable in the best places to visit or eat/drink. Mary who works in the restaurant and bar is absolutely amazing, so friendly and she makes the best cocktails! We can’t fault this place at all. It’s our favourite place when we visit Derry 🥰

We spent the second day of our wedding at the Shipquay Hotel and honestly, it was everything we could have hoped for and more. From the moment we arrived, the staff couldn’t have been more welcoming—friendly, attentive, and genuinely happy to help make our stay special. The hotel itself is beautiful, stylish, and full of character. Our room was spotless, super comfortable, and had lovely little touches that made it feel really personal. You could tell the team went the extra mile to make our visit memorable. Honestly, after the excitement of the wedding day itself, the Shipquay gave us the perfect place to unwind, celebrate, and soak it all in. We’re so grateful for how well we were looked after. We’ll definitely be back—maybe for our anniversary! Thank you to everyone at the Shipquay for helping make our wedding weekend so special. 💛

We loved our stay at the ShipQuay. Such friendly service, a glass of bubbles on arrival, delicious meal in the bar, and really nicely appointed room. Super comfy bed. Breakfast was lovely (mimosas included, if that’s your thing). Only improvement I’d suggest is a small fridge in the rooms.

This hotel is a gem that needs a bit of updating. Carpet in the room was worn and shower was subpar for the rate we paid. Everything else about the hotel is wonderful. The stellar team provided warm and wonderful customer service and the restaurant food was excellent. We would stay again on future trips to Derry.

I booked a superior double room almost a year ago, I was expecting a room similar to the photos seen. Our room was the size of a shoe box, no bathtub (as shown in the pictures) and no mirror to blow dry my hair. I understand that you don’t dry your hair in the bathroom here. There were no outlets close enough to the 4ft tall closet to use the mirror. I called to the front desk and I was advised I should have specified I wanted the one room with a tub and a kind young lady brought me a contractor extension cord. The bath room was small, shower was horrible and hair in the corner, the towel heater did not work. The bed was not comfortable and the a/c turns off every 2 hours. My husband and I took turns waking up and turning it back on. I would look else where next time. My mother in law was given an accessible room and did not ask for it, her shower was strange.

We stayed there for 5 nights and it was absolutely amazing. Lovely big room on the first floor on the front side. Very clean. You can use the living room and kitchen downstairs. Lovely art-deco style. The breakfast was delicious in the lawrence. The staff was very helpfully and funny too. It's a couple of minutes to the river and famous bridge and close to good restaurants. Lovely place to stay. Great decor and shared lounge kitchen and dining area. The only downside is our room was very small, and the double bed didn't seem to be full sized. Room was very warm even without the radiator on. Great location.

Omg … not one for leaving reviews but the service we’ve had has been second to none. Upgrade from Hestia House to The Art House. Then discovered the self contained studio in the garden so then asked if we could upgrade to that one. Which not sure if it was my Scottish charm but they agreed at no extra charge. Connor & John who I’ve dealt with have been amazing to giving us travel advice back to the airport to free upgrades and everything else inbetween. I’d definitely stay here again if I’m back in Derry. If you are thinking of staying here please consider it because the service & standard & stunning decor we hope you will love like we did. Thank you again especially Connor & John.

I can’t speak highly enough of the Art House as a location in particular for a large group. We recently stayed here for my friends hen party and rented the entire premises. Everyone I interacted with from the Art House was super friendly, helpful and accommodating. There is ample space, and parking was easily found for those who drove. For such a large group of girls, everyone was delighted with their rooms and loved the decor. The location too is super close and walkable to the city - the hill back up may have been a bit difficult after a few drinks 😅 but we managed! In general though, super central and a lovely, safe area. We’re already trying to think of an excuse to rent out the Jazz House next door! Thanks to Conor, Colin and Emmet all the team for making our weekend!

I stayed here recently with a large group and it was a fantastic stay! I cannot say enough about how beautiful the property is and how quiet the rooms are! It helps being only 15 minutes from the city center. The neighborhood is very safe but less than 4 pds taxi back after a few pints or dinner by the Foyle. As a native New Yorker I recommend this property and travel to Derry ASAP before the "tourists" ruin a great secret!

Sights & Landmarks
The Peace Bridge in Derry, opened in 2011, is a modernistic structure that spans the River Foyle. It serves as a powerful symbol of reconciliation and unity, connecting the predominantly nationalist west side with the unionist east side of the city. Designed by architect Wilkinson Eyre, its sleek and sweeping curve reflects the river's natural flow. The bridge offers pedestrians and cyclists a peaceful way to travel between both banks of the river.
The Peace Bridge in Londonderry is more than just a bridge; it's a symbol of hope, reconciliation, and progress. This iconic structure spans the River Foyle, connecting the city's historic walled city with the modern Ebrington Square. Designed by Wilkinson Eyre Architects, the bridge is a marvel of engineering and a stunning piece of contemporary architecture. Its graceful curves and sleek design make it a striking landmark. The bridge's unique shape, with its two halves overlapping at the center, represents a "handshake" between the two sides of the city, a powerful metaphor for the peace process in Northern Ireland. Beyond its architectural significance, the Peace Bridge has become a vital part of the city's social fabric. It's a popular spot for locals and visitors alike, offering stunning views of the river and the city skyline. Whether you're strolling along the bridge, cycling across it, or simply admiring it from afar, you can't help but feel a sense of optimism and hope. The Peace Bridge is a testament to the power of human spirit and a reminder that even the deepest divisions can be bridged.

The bridge opened on 25 June 2011 to connect the two sides of the city, over the River Foyle, both physically and symbolically. It measures 235 metres (771 ft) and was designed by bridge AECOM and Wilkinson Eyre Architects.

History Museums
The Museum of Free Derry, located in the Bogside neighborhood of Derry, is a historical museum that commemorates and recounts the story of the Free Derry era from 1969-1972. This pivotal period saw a section of the city declare itself autonomous from British authorities, culminating in the tragic events of Bloody Sunday in 1972. The museum features multi-media exhibits on the region's civil rights movement and early conflict era.
An amazing experience in the Free Derry Museum ! Here, you find the all story of The Troubles that took place in Derry and the building of tensions between the two communities beforehand. It is well-explained and very complete. If you are in Derry, you definitely have to come here !

A powerful and moving experience. Visiting the Bloody Sunday monument is both emotional and enlightening. The surrounding murals beautifully and boldly tell the story of a tragic chapter in history—each one full of meaning and message. Walking through the area, you don’t just see history, you feel it. You leave with a deeper understanding, carrying a piece of that history with you. A must-visit for anyone coming to Derry

Magnificent and extremely moving testament to the people of Derry. Very well curated, informative, logical and easy to follow. Plus some very poignant exhibits, the shoot to kill transcript, the white hanky, the bullet broken Sunday best clothes, straight from noon mass. History Museums
The Tower Museum, established in 1992, is the primary council-run museum in the city. It offers two permanent exhibitions: "The Story of Derry," which delves into the city's history with a collection of artifacts, and "La Trinidad Valencera," focusing on the Spanish Armada ship that sank off the coast of Donegal in 1588.
Fantastic spot in Derry and a great way to spend some time. We visited on a Monday afternoon where it was 2 for 1 on tickets so a mere £6 to get in. Brilliant value. There are three exhibits, the first focusing on Derry Girls, a recent comedy tv show which if you haven’t seen is well worth a watch. Great exhibit which contains a lot of props from the series you can see. Second exhibit is the history of Derry which goes right back Neolithic age and then takes you on a fantastic walk through time, right up to the modern day. Third and final exhibit is all around the Spanish Armada and specifically a ship that was sunk nearby and found relatively recently (late 60s/early 70s I think it said it was). There’s also a rooftop where you can get a view from all angles out over the rooftops in Derry although admittedly I didn’t enjoy it too much - it was a grey drizzly day so maybe would have been better with blue skies and good visibility but I couldn’t really see much today.

A nice museum that showcases the rich history of Derry. If you like the show, "Derry Girls," you'll appreciate the exposition at the beginning!
Elizabeth A — Google review
We went wanting to see the Armada's excavation because one of our relatives were involved in the mission - sadly only the ground floor was available because the museum is re-locating to a bigger place and the exhibition above stairs are being carefully removed when we arrived. Yet when Sharon the lady at the front heard our intentions, she radioed her colleagues to give us a chance to see the exhibition on the 3rd floor anyway. We didn't expect this and didn't want to bother them in the busyness of it all. And yet when we were about to finish appreciating the amazing story-telling of the ground floor exhibitions, Sharon approached us, telling us she had arranged for a colleague Troy to escort us through the now not-available for the public part of the Armada exhibition to find photos of our relative. We were so surprised that they would be willing to do this and Troy whom accompanied us through the stairs were super humorous and kind as well. The two ladies we bumped into who were part of the removal team were also super kind and showed us a book that one of the divers published only a year ago. This was such a precious meeting/ opportunity. We were amazed at the kindness, professionalism, the team work and the personal-ness of the staff. We feel hugely heard, trusted and honored and were both deeply touched. What a wonderful bunch! Above and beyond is too light a description - just so touched and thankful for such warm-hearted people working in the museum. They said the relocation will be done in 18 months and described the interactive nature of the new exhibit - we look forward to the new location in 1.5 years and will for sure pay a visit again. Even though there was only the ground floor to explore, it did take a good 2 hours to fully appreciate the well-presented and creative exhibit and so it was well worth the visit anyway.

I had the great pleasure of visiting the Tower Museum in Londonderry a couple of weeks ago. I have to say that it was a fascinating experience in a really well laid out Museum. The thought process in the layout was exemplary and the way finding simple to follow. I was captivated by the exhibition of artifacts from a lost Armada ship. The descriptions of all of them were so well done that nothing was left to the imagination. All in all a captivating Museum and exceptional value for a modest entrance fee. The Lady on reception was welcoming and very friendly. She explained how to get the most from the museum and and all the artifacts. Many thanks for a wonderful experience.

Very good museum with a little bit of everything. The Spanish Armada exhibition was a lot better than expected. They had a Derry Girls TV show exhibition when I visited which was great as a fan. There is also a piece about the Ferry and Irish history that was super educational. The views from the Roof Top are good as well. Price tickets are very affordable which was a big plus.

Well worth a visit. A fascinating mix of contemporary pop culture ("Derry Girls") an extensive history of the north of Ireland (excellent!), the Spanish Armada (much more complicated than I'd understood it) and the discovery of a wrecked Armada ship. Topped off with great views from the tower top.

Free Derry Corner, located in the Bogside area of Derry, is an iconic gable wall that serves as a historical landmark commemorating the city's time as an autonomous nationalist area from 1969 to 1972.
The wall, surrounding area and the Free Derry museum are a must visit for those interested in history, social history, social struggles and how a community and culture rises from the ashes. Book a walking tour and visit the places and stories of a marginalized community, who were subdued, beaten, discriminated against and murdered by forces of the Crown. You will then see how, through determination of spirit and forceful resistance, their stories give hope to other communities and races who are being opressed at this time. There are plaques, monuments, remembrance gardens, artistic murals (proper hand painted murals, not printed plastic ones like in Unionist areas of Belfast) and stories from local people. Take the time to understand the suffering this community was endured. TAL

I was overcome with emotion at this place. People walk around as if it's just another landmark or tourist attraction, but having any familial connection to the area makes this so much more powerful.
Devin G — Google review
Free Derry Corner is definitely a significant landmark with deep historical meaning, but as a visitor, I found the presentation quite one-sided. The focus leans heavily on a specific political perspective, which can make it feel more like a political statement than a balanced memorial. It’s not worth seeing. I would have appreciated a more neutral overview of the conflict and its impact on all sides.

What can I say about Derry that hasn't already been said here. The most wonderful, amazing and enchanting place I think I've ever been to. If you don't know the history of Derry you need to dispense with Google and news papers and come here and be enlightened about how wonderful these people are. I've never felt a stronger sense of community and ownership of a home. Clean streets, fair prices and most of all friendly people who just want you to know about their history. "A nation that keeps one eye on the past is wise. A nation that keeps two eyes on the past is blind." Being from England I'd been steered in my understanding, I consider myself to have been educated by my visit. If you've never been to Derry, you're missing out in a very big way. Thank you Derry, you have a new and grateful friend.

I love quirky places and this is a brilliant place for a quick drink whilst you're taking a break from shopping or a night out. Staff are friendly and there is a lovely atmosphere.

Great food with efficient & friendly floor staff. What else can one ask for more 😋 Nicely decorated, we're happy that we went there for a bite. We highly recommend Granny Annie's. Just check it out-not only you've got nothing to lose, you probably would go back there for more 😉

Loved Friday night here in Derry. Wishing more people were around. Amazing band playing some classics. 30's crowd tonight for drinks and a sing along, but earlier for dinner was a general dinner crowd. This could be a great dance bar with a bigger crowd. P.s it is now named Broody Hen

Good food and great ambiance! Lots of fun in their decorating inside. Worth the stop.

Cannot recommend at all, ordered 2 light bites and a starter, they cannot manage to serve the food at the same time, takes them 45 minutes to prepare a "steak sandwich" in an empty restaurant, meat on the sandwiches looked like the waste of the regular steaks they serve, don't even ask how you want your steak done and waiters sneaking, around looking over your shoulder, making you feel uncomfy, oh yeah, and for 12 quid, the bits of beef were charcoal, as were 2/3 of the onions and the mushrooms you had to look for with a magnifying glass.. I only ate it, as I had to pay for it as for the toilet, you might want to use some cleaner to get the stains of months from the metal

Very nice place with great staff. Only been there once so I can't speak for the whole menu, but what I ate was good and nicely presented. Live music that day 👍

Beautiful place. Great sight for pictures, good music, great food and lovely staff. Their live band is second to none and I have come to love that place greatly. Every visit is a memory. Their prices are good too but not recommended for a daily visit 😋😋😋. The furnitures are so so beautiful and well placed. Looking forward to shooting a musical video there soon.

Historical landmark
The Derry Walls, also known as the Derry City Walls, are a well-preserved set of defensive walls dating back to the early 17th century. They were built between 1613 and 1618 to protect English and Scottish settlers who had moved to Ulster as part of the Plantation of Ulster. These stone walls stand at approximately 6 meters (20 feet) high and are adorned with cannons, battlements, and watchtowers.
What a lovely relaxing day out . Spent the day wandering the wall and going off at points to take in local historical sights . Plenty to spend a day doing

Derry Walls. There is so much history here and on a nice day can spend a few hours walking past / reading the important stories and milestones placed around the walls and cannons. Memorials, the place is full of history and sadness from the past.

Walking along the Derry Walls is a fantastic way to take in the city’s history. The views over the streets and River Foyle are great, and the walls themselves are well-preserved—worth spending some time exploring.

Really cool stop! Great way to see the city of Derry from the views of the walls. Go counter clock wise from the visitors center to avoid steep inclines. Great history and if you’re a Doherty a fun fact for you! if you weren’t aware our ancestors sacked the town in 1608, one of the first organized rebellions against the British Empire which was known as the Burning of Derry. Enjoy!

We stayed here back in August 2024 we came back from a wedding to a beautiful warm hotel. Our room was amazing. And with a lovely welcome note from Sam Brogan. Wishing us an enjoyable stay and hoped we had a good day at the wedding. With a lovely box of chocolates 🙂 Beds super soft and comfortable! Breakfast was amazing.!! Everything you would want to eat was available. Staff was all SO friendly and helpful. Thank you all so much for making our stay so lovely. This Hotel is amazing and far from expensive for the quality of everything.

Great Experience at Premier Inn Derry/Londonderry The staff were excellent, and check-in was quick and hassle-free. The receptionist was friendly and always ready to assist. The added convenience of free on-site parking was a great bonus. Unfortunately, the on-site bar and restaurant were closed in the evening due to a staffing shortage, so I ended up ordering a Chinese takeaway and enjoyed it in the comfort of my room. The next morning, I opted for the Unlimited Breakfast, which was absolutely delicious and definitely worth the £10.99. The surrounding area is beautiful, and this Hotel continues to impress. Having stayed here multiple times, I can confidently say I’ll be back again.

Good location. Comfortable room, it's clear that some refurbishment of rooms is happening but is a little half new half old feel. Bed comfortable, air con could be cooler but understand we visited on an unusually warm weather week. No food was being served the evening we arrived but are plenty of places nearby to get food. Breakfast wasn't great and would recommend going elsewhere. What was on offer wasn't very hot, only one type of egg and some items from the menu missing such as porridge. Staff were very friendly and helpful, both at check in and check out.

Reception staff, 2 lads were excellent. Very good breakfast. Bar opened at 3pm and closed at 9.30! Bar and restaurant staff were average. Probably the lowest rating I have given to a premier inn.

stayed here on the 16th an 17th of July, first impressions where great. We booked 4 family rooms with 6 adults and 7 children in the rooms were nice as we had stayed in Belfast the days before for 3 nights in the Premier inn and 3 nights in Cork city premier inn. Once we went to the bar it went down hill. they had no ice for the two days that we stayed there when i ordered wine they told me they had no wine glasses at all as we were informed they where stolen by guests etc but could put it in soft drink glass if we liked. then when we ordered food they informed us they had no cheese for the burgers or any other meal. when we ask for the curry they informed us they had no rice for the curry but we could have chips or mash potatoes. this place was a joke of a hotel. The next day when we went to go for breakfast which the premier inn is so famous for we were informed there was no cooked breakfast as the cook was sick, but if we liked there was a coffee shop across the street that sold hot food . we could not believe this place was allowed to stay open. we when out and got our own ice from Tesco across the street for the drinks. All we got every time we ask for something was sorry we have none. if you plan to stay here make sure they have the basic items need to run a hotel before you pay,. and go else where . when i contacted premier inn to say about the hotel all they said along as the rooms where good and you slept well we do not care about the rest bye . what a service from Premier Inn HQ regards peter

We have just returned from an overnight stay in this great value for money newly refurbished hotel. We booked a deluxe double room which was fabulous, exceptionally clean and had everything you needed, my husband particularly enjoyed the coffee pod machine. The walk in shower was amazing, very spacious with good quality toiletries and lovely fluffy towels. The staff were very pleasant and check-in was very smooth. The breakfast was good with plenty of choices (I asked for scrambled egg instead of fried egg which was no problem) All in all, a very pleasant experience and one I would thoroughly recommend.

The Ebrington Hotel offers a delightful spa and afternoon tea experience. Despite being delayed by road closures, the staff were understanding and accommodating. The spa is described as beautiful, with guests enjoying relaxing treatments such as a full body massage. The afternoon tea is praised for its delicious selection of loose leaf teas, sandwiches, scones, and sweet treats. Guests also appreciate the attentive service from staff members like Marie Therese in the restaurant and Laura in the spa.
Such a lovely location in Derry. Beautiful, modern rooms with artistic touches and a lot of history. Great modern bathroom as well. The square around the hotel is very proper with some lovely restaurants and traditional bar’s close by. Inside the hotel you have a lovely restaurant which does a very good Irish Breakfast and there is even a spa with a great sauna space. Truly recommend visiting, a great spot for culture, history and a moment of piece. Also last thing to note is that you are right beside the Peace Bridge which I could actually see from my window! Thank you again for this charming stay.

Check-in took quite a while. (3) Three spaces for people to check people in. Only (1) one had a person doing it. The room was decent. Comfortable bed, and view was good. The breakfast had a nice variety of foods and beverages available. And the walk across Peace Bridge, to the (inside of the) Walled City was easy. Did not get a chance to test out any of the Spa Treatments, etc. Next time..

I stayed in this hotel for two nights midweek. It was quiet and I liked the decor, very plain but with a high quality finish. The blackout curtains in the bedroom were very effective. For two hundred pounds a night I would like to not have heard the person next door moving around and using the bathroom. Good parking close by and a a good bakery and grill. I really hated the smell of the toiletries, shampoo, hand wash etc, they had an extremely strong scent that stayed on your skin for ages. And they had a air diffuser spray air freshener in the lobby, probably to try to cover up the very strong smell of cow manure slurry which hung over Derry on one of the days I visited, but actually I would have preferred the smell of the slurry, again it was a very strong artificial scent that was cloying and overpowering. And finally, the endless piano music got quite irritating, and was played in every public room. What is wrong with a bit of silence sometimes? But overall, a very good quality hotel. The buffet breakfast was also excellent.

Nestled in the vibrant heart of Londonderry, Serendipity House B&B offers a delightful blend of comfort and convenience. Just a stone's throw from Brooke Park and St. Eugene's Cathedral, this charming bed & breakfast features smart en suite rooms within a period terrace. Guests can unwind on the outdoor decking area while enjoying stunning views of Derry City and its historic walls.
Serendipity House B&B is hotel quality. The rooms are spotless clean, spacious, warm, well lit and comfortable. The beds are probably the most comfortable beds we have had in any B&B we have stayed in. The ensuit was bright, clean and spacious. We had our dinner in the restaurant and again it was top class. There is a great menu selection, portions were massive, warm, really tasty and we got served ours in a wee snug at the back with an amazing view. The staff couldn't do enough for you, the server we had was lovely, she was really friendly, chatty and made sure we always had a drink. Honestly couldn't fault a single thing. We had a great night and will definitely be back in the future.

Unfortunately this hot did not live up to the expectations set on their website. It was self check in, which was not clearly stated anywhere. I was told I was sent an email with check in information and lock combination for the doors, but I never received this. Luckily we arrived right before the one staff member was leaving for the night. There was not a 24 hour reception desk. And the bar and patio were locked up once the staff member left. We were hoping to sit on the patio at night over looking the city. The room had an awful plug in air fresheners. The toilet made running water noise. Our room had some type of timer plugged in that clicked all night and could not be removed. We were also near the front door and heard everything guest come in and out, entering the combo into the lock and slammed the door. The rooms are not sound proof as stated on the website. The breakfast was okay. The location was nice. A bit out of the town. There is a small pub around the corner. For one night this hotel was okay.
Sharon M — Google review
Upon our arrival at the Serendipity House, Londonderry B&B, the experience was far from inviting. Parking was a significant issue; we were fortunate to find street parking, which necessitated parking several blocks away from the property. Despite arriving before 8:00 PM, there was no front desk or anyone on-site to assist with check-in. I attempted to use the provided ring system, but the connection was unreliable and kept cutting in and out. The person on the other end of the line was rather abrupt and seemed annoyed by the conversation, repeatedly stating that they had emailed us information, which I unfortunately never received. Due to the poor connection, the call on the ring system eventually dropped, and I had to resort to calling the direct contact number to obtain instructions for entry and access to our room. Upon entering the room, we were immediately struck by its condition, which was anything but welcoming. We had to physically move items just to fully open the door, posing a significant fire hazard. The room was oppressively hot, and a strong, musty odor was overwhelmingly present. We noticed four desiccant containers in the room, seemingly intended to absorb humidity, yet the air remained very stale with no discernible circulation. Furthermore, the bedding had visible stains on the covers, the bathroom was missing a transition piece, and there was clear evidence of mold on the flooring and windows. Given the current heatwave in Ireland, the room was truly uninhabitable. The actual room bore no resemblance to the images provided, which led us to decide to leave and secure alternative accommodation. I contacted the property's number to inform them that we would not be staying. When asked for the reason, I detailed all the issues we had encountered. The individual I spoke with disputed some of my observations, specifically regarding the bedding stains, claiming they were fresh, and justifying the desiccant containers by stating they were for the humidity generated by four adults in the room. This entire experience has been profoundly disappointing, especially as I had been very much looking forward to what was advertised as a quaint B\&B. For a cost of $547, I certainly expected a much higher standard of accommodation, not an experience akin to a hostel.

Only giving 1 star as you can't do zero stars. As we arrived it didn't look like what was posted, I think the photos they use are very old. It looked run down. The guy that answered the bell was not very welcoming. He ran off to get his book then told us to follow him. He literally ran up the stairs and we finally found him I think on the 3rd floor. He scribbled the door code on a bit of paper and ripped it out of his book for us. There was no mention of the breakfast we were supposed to have. Then he left. The room definitely was not what was expected. Very small, rundown, the bathroom was so small you wouldn't be able to dry yourself after a shower, which I don't think I would even use. Everything was so bad, we were pleased we didn't bring our suitcases in, not that they would have even fit in the room, as we just walked out and went and found another hotel, and never went back.
Rachel B — Google review
Very poor interaction with the male owner via ring camera. I had missed the email they sent with a code and didn’t realise there was no reception and only ring camera interaction. He was very annoyed he even had to deal with me at all. Felt very unwelcome and his attitude was appalling while I took a second to read the email I had missed from them. A lot of the things listed in my room were not there such as hairdryer or toiletries. Television remote didn’t work and hot breakfast is an extra charge which is strange for a bed and BREAKFAST where the included breakfast is a pastry 🥐. There wasn’t even TEA available my first morning only coffee. if you’re looking for simply a place to lay your head for cheap enough then this is perfect but don’t expect any hospitality or anything beyond basics. I also thought it was strange that you couldn’t even bring a drink into your room, how unrealistic? They seemed to want you to buy everything from them.

The room was great and cosy and the breakfast was delicious. The view from the top floor bedroom was class. Very close to city centre and easy parking outside.

Never felt more unwelcomed at an accommodation. Staff were extremely loud in the morning, shouting and slamming doors, room was at the main door and we may aswell have slept in the doorway it was that loud. 9.20am a lady knocked the door, woke us and shouted ‘it’s ok’ and then 15 minutes later the same lady knocked the door and said ‘it’s ok check out isn’t until 11am’. We were at a wedding the day before and wanted a rest. No food anymore and they locked the bar at 7.30 and stated no food or drink from outside the premises allowed. Won’t be back

The Bogside History Tour offers a deep dive into the recent history of 'the troubles' in Northern Ireland. Led by passionate and knowledgeable local guides, the tour provides personal accounts of key events and atrocities that took place in the area. Visitors are taken to significant sites such as where the Battle of the Bogside and Bloody Sunday occurred, while being given detailed narrations from real-life eyewitnesses.
Great tour with Jimmy. Our train ran late but he was very understanding and still gave us the full tour. Answered all my questions and was extremely informative. Would recommend to anyone who wants an authentic, first-hand account of the history in Derry and The Troubles.

Thought this tour would give us a deeper understanding of The Troubles as we had just come from Belfast. They have their own side of the story. Jimmy Toye lead our history lesson (much more than a tour) with all the knowledge and resilience of a survivor which he is. Our time with Jimmy was sad and respectful of those so deeply impacted. I think the memories from this experience will stay with me for a long time. Thanks, Jimmy, for sharing your story with us.
JM B — Google review
Walking the streets that experienced such bloodshed, narrated by someone who was in the fight, really makes for an impactful tour! This is what we experienced with Jimmy Toye as our guide. His vivid recollection was further brought to life as he showed pictures of what the streets had looked like, and put names to faces on the "Innocent" wall. Many thanks to you, Jimmy, for teaching us despite the pain it brings as you relive the loss and fear over again.

The tour was amazing, Macrea was great. The tour was both fascinating and sad but very informative. Macrea explained the effect the troubles had on the people of Derry back then and still to this day. I would definitely recommend this tour.

I highly recommend this tour. it is deeply informative, moving, and offers one of the most authentic insights into life in the Bogside and the tragic events of Bloody Sunday. We had Jimmy as our tour guide and were very grateful to have been able to hear his first hand accounts. Thank you Jimmy for sharing your story with us. It can’t be easy to relive those memories and we are so grateful that you were willing to share. We will never forget your tour. We will be following along with the trial in Canada and hope that long overdue justice will be served to the victims and their families

Very highly recommended. It is hard to adequately describe our tour of Derry with Paul. He is knowledgeable, entertaining, insightful and a living link to some of Derry’s often difficult history. We did a second trip to the coast with him and we felt like we were with a friend. I have been traveling to Ireland for over fifty years and the tours with Paul were among the very best.

We had an absolutely fantastic walking tour of the Bogside, Derry with Jimmy Toye. He was the best guide I have ever known. He put so much into the tour and the fact that he was present at the 1972 protest on Bloody Sunday made his tour so much more meaningful. A really lovely man. Everyone on the tour hung on to his every word.

I had my tour a few days ago with John Burke. It was very informative and educational and John was as passionate and knowledgeable about the subject as I was to listen and engage, so very much so. I had a lot of questions so we covered a lot in the time. It was personal as John's sister had been injured in the Bloody Sunday attack and that gave an added dimension as John had and shared his unique insight from close experience, gained personally. I am very interested in this history and feel that this tour has helped consolidate what I knew but also given me a much better insight and empathy. I definitely recommend this tour and the guide John Burke.

The Townhouse accommodation is a great option for anyone looking for a city break in Derry. The breakfasts are very healthy and the rooms are tastefully decorated, clean and comfortable. Good value for money. I would definitely recommend this accommodation to anyone planning a stay in Derry.
Lovely old Victorian house which is ideally located for any trip to the city. The room was comfortable and well decorated. While there was no option for a full cooked breakfast there was a good variety of cereals, beards and condominiums. The owner made everyone very welcome over breakfast. We found the booking and communication prior to arrival very informative. . We considered that Number 8 The Townhouse was an excellent choice and good value. Thanks Keiran for a lovely stay.

Pros: Great location in the heart of Derry. Kieran made check-in and check-out really simple, and allowed us to store luggage for a few hours after checkout. Breakfast was basic, but nice. There were fun luxury amenities in the room like a heated towel rack and bath sheets (instead of just towels). Cons: I knew that all of the rooms were upstairs. I communicated with Kieran my hope that my parents in their 70s might not have to walk all the way to the top. He never replied, so I assume that the lower rooms were already booked before ours was. I had read the reviews and knew that this was a possibility, so I don't blame anyone for that. There are rooms on lower levels--if you don't want to go over multiple flights of stairs, be sure to communicate and get a response before staying there. The room had cobwebs on a lamp, and one of the beds looked like someone had flopped down for a nap before our arrival. Honestly, for a budget stay, neither was a big deal. But I found them an almost comical contrast to the luxury amenities. The single bed in our double / single room was a little squeaky, and the room's TV was over the single bed and not easily viewable from the double bed. I didn't stay there for the TV, so it didn't bother me at all, but it might be an inconvenience for some people. Overall I enjoyed the stay for the price and would recommend it and return.

I stayed here while working in Derry and I could not have asked for better accommodation. I stayed in the single room as I was here for work and out majority of my stay I was more than satisfied with my room. In an ideal world it would be a more spacious room but for the cost I believe this was more than fair. It also included breakfast. The owner is brilliant and even offered to serve me breakfast early to accommodate my odd working hours.

A great experience from start to finish - my partner and I booked a night here at the end of a bike tour. Kieran was really friendly and communicative, gave us good flexibility with check-in and let us store the bikes in reception/lounge. Didn't have bacon for pancakes (Tesco across the street) when pancakes came out they were clearly shop bought. Table was dirty and had to ask several times for it to be cleaned. We seated ourselves to a table that hadn’t been cleared and we had to go up to till to get menus ourselves. Food arrived quickly after ordering but we weren’t given any cutlery and when we asked for cutlery we were to told to get it ourselves from communal cutlery tray which was empty except for a few spoons. My Panini was ok but my husband ordered pancakes which were burnt. Overall disappointed and wouldn’t return.

Stayed 2 nights at this fantastic hostel located a short walk from some of the highlights of Derry. The dorms are clean & comfy with great clean bed linen & comfortable pillows. The hostel is spotlessly clean and the friendly staff eager to help. John the manager was very friendly & helpful and pointed out some great tips on what to do while in Derry. Value for money, secure, comfortable, fully equipped kitchen, great Wi-Fi - this hostel ticks a lot of boxes. Highly recommended

Awesome place, neat, clean and great location. We only had time to stay the night, the host(s) were very accomodating getting us in and setup, we have 2 young kids with us and they put together an extra sofa bed very late on a Friday afternoon. Would 100% recommend to anyone thinking of spending some time here. Note: if you have a car, there is free on street parking available overnight (just need to move the car before 9am) or paid longer term parking 3-4min walk around the corner.

Great suits, really clean and nice decoration, we loved it and definitely will be back when visiting Derry again. Location also great, few minutes waking to centre all the shops and pubs.

Only back from a 2 night stay these apartments are absolutely superb, location, cleanliness and facilities couldn't fault those was my first time booking these apartments but definitely won't be the last as we would visit Derry quite regularly
Tara M — Google review
Stayed here with my partner and 3 kids and could not fault the suites, immaculately clean had everything we needed, the owner even rang before we got there to ensure we had the proper entry codes. These suites will definitely be our go to place to stay when we visit our eldest son who lives in Derry for college.

Londonderry, also known as Derry, is the largest city in County Londonderry and the second-largest in Northern Ireland. It is situated on the west bank of the River Foyle and is famous for being the only completely walled city in Ireland. The walls were built in the early 17th century and still provide a unique promenade to view the original town layout. The city offers a rich history with its Renaissance-style street plan and picturesque riverfront location.
