Reginald's Tower is a 13th-century circular waterside defense tower in Waterford, Ireland. It is part of the Viking Triangle, an area that offers key attractions such as the House of Waterford Crystal and the award-winning Medieval Museum. The tower has Anglo-Norman origins and was originally part of a Viking fort, making it about 1000 years old.
We flew to Ireland to join a bus tour of Ireland. Started in Dublin, then toured the island and finished in Dublin. It was a great tour. One of the stops was Waterford where we first toured the glass factory and then had lots of time to walk around the waterfront area. Lots of history here. Reginald’s Tower is a very picturesque 1300th century tower down by the Waterfront. Busy with tourists taking pictures.

We were not sure whether to pay to go in, but we are glad we did, and found that children under about 12 are free. A really helpful and welcoming member of staff when we entered, then after climbing all the way to the top watched a really informative video about the history of the tower and Viking Triangle and Waterford. Plus good views of the waterfront through the small windows! Lots of information boards on the remaining 2 floors - plus I enjoyed the Lego models on the ground floor! There's also a canon ball from 1650 lodged in the outside of the wall. So lots of see - our kids enjoyed it. I guess we had about 30-45 mins there.

Been visiting and then living here in Waterford for years but never visited this tower. This particular day had free admission so we popped in. I would gladly pay the small admission fee though, it was so interesting. It is the root to Waterford's history and how the city began. Highly recommend joining the guided tour (approx 50mins) rather then self guided, you can ask questions and gain many more interesting fact. Unfortunately I've forgotten the young ladies name who guided us but she worked at the Book of Kells last year (I learnt more interesting facts about this too), she was charming, friendly and passionate, thank you. Any tourist coming to Waterford, do not miss this.
Moon S — Google review
Small but interesting tower with exhibits and a video showing the initial history and settlement of Waterford, as well as the building of the tower. £5 each which was reasonable. Just take care on the step & mind your head!
Lewis G — Google review
This is a simple but excellent attraction- affordable, interesting, and great place to start in Waterford! It gives a breakdown of the history, local landmarks, and an overview of the whole city. The spiral stairs in particular is excellent!

Very small but cool museum. It explains the history of the Vikings, Normans, and the English as they founded Waterford and fight over it through the ages.

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Incredible place where history feels alive 🏰✨ Reginald’s Tower was one of the highlights of my time in Waterford. Knowing this was the exact spot where the Vikings founded Ireland’s first city made it feel so special. The name Waterford comes from the old Norse word Veðrafjǫrðr(meaning something like windy fjord) 🌊⚔️.Standing there, I truly felt like I was in the middle of that history. The tower is small but powerful. It’s the oldest civic building in Ireland 🇮🇪 and has been everything from a Viking stronghold to a Norman fort, a mint, a prison, and more. You can still see the original stonework, and touching those ancient walls gave me a strange but amazing feeling — like I was connected to the people who stood there centuries ago 🪨🕰️. Deffo, I will go back to take more pictures 😆 My phone died.
Siguirit L — Google review
If you're in the oldest city in Ireland, it's worth seeing and learning where it all started. It's a quick video and self-guided tour that lasts about 30 minutes. Our family found it neat and our group ranged from 11 - 70 in age. Definitely worth the stop while in Waterford!

Waterford Treasures: Medieval Museum is a remarkable museum in Ireland dedicated to the medieval era. It is housed in a building that incorporates two medieval chambers, the 13th-century Choristers Hall and the 15th-century Mayors Wine Vault.
This museum has a fantastic mix of see, do and read. Too much reading in a museum is why people dislike them so much. This place had a wonderful array of artifacts. Staff were friendly and helpful. You really feel like you are stepping back in time as you enter. Get the Freedom pass as it is the best value.

Wonderful museum with so many treasures! From Henry the VIII’s hat to gold stitched cloaks, it’s a great museum on Waterford. If you can do a guided tour, you definitely should. Splurge for wine in the ancient wine vault.

What a marvellous place.. the people are really friendly, the collection one of a kind, with some real top notch stories. The atmosphere is wonderful and the guides know their history. In other words, a real gem to visit.. Thanks for giving us the opportunity to be there..

A truly fascinating experience! The exhibits at the Waterford Treasures: Medieval Museum are expertly curated, featuring expertly conserved artifacts that offer a stunning glimpse into the city's rich past. The staff were exceptionally friendly and knowledgeable, adding to the wonderful atmosphere. We purchased the Freedom Pass, which was absolutely worth it. It gives you access to five of the Waterford Treasures museums, making it a fantastic deal. If you're visiting Waterford, this museum is an absolute must-see!
Yuki ᜌ — Google review
Visited as part of the freedom pass (20euro) very nicely laid out, from the medieval wine cellar to the films on each floor giving more details about the exhibits. Enjoyed the story of the clergy clothes on the middle floor especially. The detail and craftsmanship of them is incredible!

I'd say that if you happen to be visiting Waterford this place is a must see. So rich in Irish history and lore. Give yourself about 2 hours to really take in everything, but you could rush through it in an hour. One thing I wish they'd add is a section on Irish mythology like Cú Chulainn, I feel like a lot of this has been lost to time.

Epic tours were amazing. Lots of good history was shared in the medieval triangle. Worth the time and Great value

This 18th century townhouse was opened to the public in 2011 and you can see a lot of treasures of the Georgian and Victorian Waterford. The ground and first floors are full of 18th century glass, silver, furniture and paintings. The top floor then continues this walk through history up to 1970. Really interesting museum to learn a lot of about the city's history.

Did a self guided tour here on the freedom pass (20euro) was a beautiful building, with lots of interesting exhibits & artefacts. Top floor contains the history of the town, while the middle floor contains objects from history and are displayed in each room.

I had a lot of fun on this tour today! My father and I went to the Bishop’s Palace on July 24, 2024 and were told that they had just started doing a Bridgerton inspired tour. After a mix up where we accidentally followed the walking tour guide instead (which was also fun) we went back for the tour of the palace and had a blast. The tour was basically giving us the latest and juiciest hot gos from 100+ years ago and it was great! Our lovely guide told us about some of the characters who’d lived in the building, other notable people in the area, and showed us around the absolutely beautiful first two floors. All in all it was a very fun tour. Get into the mindset that this is just your best girlfriend giving you the 411 on what’s happening and it’s good craic. Despite the theme being Bridgerton the tour is absolutely still appropriate for children. The guide slyly mentioned at one point that one man’s children couldn’t have all been his, but that was probably as raunchy as it got and I don’t think the child in the group picked up on it at all. All in all a very worth while tour and my father and I enjoyed ourselves very much even without him knowing a thing about Bridgerton.
Fay D — Google review
We visited the Museum with our Community Care Group from Conna, from the very start Erin couldn't have been more helpful in helping to organize this as a few changes had to be made along the way, the Museum is wonderful and Ann, the housekeeper, beings it all to life, she's a great woman for the gossip!!!! On the same day half our group visited the Museum of Time, this too is well worth a visit, some interesting and enormous clocks and timepieces, beautiful places thanks and well done to all.

Christ Church Cathedral, also known as the Cathedral of The Holy Trinity, is a significant Protestant place of worship in Waterford. Dating back to 1779, it stands on a site with historical importance dating back to 1096. The cathedral's neoclassical Georgian-style architecture features Corinthian columns and intricate stuccowork. It is renowned for its ornate stained-glass window and houses a gift shop.
Located in the viking triangle, this is a must visit, to complete the exploration of the area, as this site is where strongbow married Aoifa, an irish princess in 1170. The church was built in the 1700's in the Georgian style, during our visit we were treated to an organ practise session.
V H — Google review
A lovely church, aesthetically pleasing, with some great history to admire and very friendly staff who make you feel welcome.

Beautiful Cathedral, the details atop the columns & plasterwork is sublime. Beautifully light and inspiring inside. Wish I could give a bonus point for the brilliant choice of WiFi password!
Lewis G — Google review
Simple yet elegant church. Must see the tomb of James Rices, where he designed his macabre tomb before he left for the pilgrim to Santiago di Compostella. Supposedly the famouse wedding of Strongbow and Aoife was held on this site, in the old church that has been built over.
Nee H — Google review
This Cathedral is noted to be a very historic building..Of historic note about this site was where Strongbow tied the knot with Aoife in 1170..the current Cathedral was completed in 1779 and standing inside and outside this beautiful structure is a very special heartfelt experience…it has been mentioned that it may be the finest 18th Century building in Ireland…I spent 1&1/2 hours viewing the many aspects of the Cathedral…
Michael M — Google review
Definitely a must see if you're in Waterford
Nathanael P — Google review
Waterford has two Cathedrals and both were designed by John Roberts. The Georgians were ruthless in destroying older buildings to build their own style. They dropped bits of masonry from the roof to persuade the bishop to destroy the Gothic cathedral that once stood here. Whether this was a good swap or not is a matter of opinion so no 5 stars!
Fergal J — Google review
Amazing experience at Christ church Waterford. The place was absolutely beautiful and the musicians spectacular truly making you appreciate the beauty of music. We paid for the premium seats and were very lucky to get the front row but I would recommend being there early to get yourself a good seat. The most enjoyable night.

The Irish Museum of Time, also known as Ireland's National Horological Museum, showcases an impressive collection of ancient timepieces including grandfather clocks, table clocks, and watches. The museum celebrates the craftsmanship of skilled artisans dating back to the 17th century. In addition to Irish-made timepieces, visitors can explore early European timepieces from countries such as Switzerland, England, Germany, France, Italy, Austria, the Netherlands and even Japan.
Great place to learn about clocks and timepieces. A huge collection of clock designs mainly from europe, with an example from Japan too. A lot of information to take in. The volunteers and guides in the museum are more than happy to explain all the exhibits.

This is a fantastic historical museum. Do get the Freedom pass as that is the best value. Damien was a great guide. I would like to see more history on how time measurement devices evolved so visitors get a broader scope.

Amazing museum! Fascinating items everywhere! Make time, extra time in your schedule to visit all the floors of clocks. Looking forward to the 500 Cuckoo Clocks exhibit coming next year.
TROOBOOK — Google review
A fascinating and beautiful display of time pieces (plus a couple of music boxes and historical weapons!). Stunning battery of clocks and other things time. The experience was greatly enhanced by a kind, enthusiastic and well informed volunteer guide. I loved that the back of the museum, an old chapel, had a round window and peaked wooden ceiling which looked like a grandfather clock in itself. There may be a new display room in the future for cuckoo clocks.
Wendy L — Google review
Located in a old church, within the viking triangle, is this professional presented museum of all things time, we spent more than an hour here learning all about the history of time and how it effected Waterford, the exhibits are incredibly interesting.
V H — Google review
A very unique place to visit when in Waterford. There are watches and clock from almost every period of time. The place is run by volunteers who were kind enough to explain the different types of watches and clocks on display. It is recommended to buy the 20 Euro pass for all the museums together. The ticket is valid for about three months. If you want to learn about the history of time, this place is a must visit.

The House of Waterford Crystal offers guided factory tours where visitors can witness the intricate process of creating exquisite crystal pieces. Located in the Viking Triangle, this area is a hub for historical attractions and vibrant eateries. The crystal makers have a reputation for producing high-quality items, from sports trophies to chandeliers. Visitors can explore the craft studios and cafes in the area before taking a tour of the factory to see firsthand how these renowned crystal products are made.
Visiting the Glass Factory was absolutely worth it. Watching the skill of the glass blowers and cutters up close was fascinating. It’s not only a unique experience but also great value for money. Definitely a place I’d recommend visiting if you’re in Waterford!
Santhosh G — Google review
My family and I came here in September 2025. We were a group of 7. We enjoyed ourselves. I loved the displays of beautiful crystal. I have a lot of Waterford Crystal and love looking at their new items. My husband bought a round of bubbly that was served in Lismore crystal. That was delightful! Four of us took the tour together. My husband and I visited about 20 years ago and took the tour then also. That's when I fell in love with Waterford Crystal. We loved the history and watching the people work at the different stations. This factory is where they make the specialty items, such as awards for different sporting events, the ball for new year's eve on Time Square, and many other interesting things. I highly recommend visiting here and taking the tour.

This has been our favorite part of our trip to Ireland so far. The tour guide was incredibly knowledgeable and you get to see the everyday working of the factory. They take you through each step of the process and let you watch real work being done. We could have sat and watched the craftsmen for hours. Some of the craftsmen also interacted with the tour, giving more insights into projects they’re working on and even handed us some crystal they were working on to show the cutting they had just completed.

Cathedral of the Most Holy Trinity Within, also known as the oldest cathedral of the Roman Catholic Church in Ireland, is a grand Neoclassical monument designed by local architect John Roberts in the 1790s. The interior boasts ten chandeliers donated by Waterford Crystal and a pipe organ from 1848. Nearby attractions include Jerpoint Abbey, famous for its medieval stone carvings, and Hibernian Gifts on Bolton Street offering a wide range of Waterford-produced gifts.
Located on a lovely pedestrian mall, stands the oldest cathedral, in Ireland, (built in the late 1700's), the interior is quite grand.

Nice cathedral to visit & its surrounding buildings/street are clean & safe.
Cashflow L — Google review
Very unusual interior decoration of the cathedral. It looks more like an opera or theater, rather than a place of worship. It's beautiful though. What's even more interesting is the crucial event that took place there - the wedding of Strongbow and Aoife which put an end to tje viking era of Ireland. And... started the English interference (to put it mildly) of England in Irish affairs.

Waterford Treasures is a collection of five museums in the historic Viking Triangle area of Waterford City Centre. The Medieval Museum showcases an impressive array of medieval artifacts, with the 13th Century Choristers Hall being a standout feature. The museum offers an engaging and informative walking tour that delves into the history of Waterford, Ireland's oldest city founded by Vikings in the 9th century.
The Irish Wake Museum in Waterford is a must-visit. It’s fascinating, moving, and beautifully presented. Our guide Laura was outstanding. She was knowledgeable, warm, and full of captivating stories that brought the exhibits to life. Don’t miss this gem!

Amazing place and brilliant small-group tour from Deirdre, taking us on a journey of Irish mourning practises and rituals through time from 1400s to 20th century - in the one house. I learned a lot and it was quite moving, especially towards the end. Do make time for it you won't regret it.
Jen E — Google review
Laura did an excellent job telling us all about the history of the Irish wake and how it evolved. She had a great irish sense of humour and it was kind if an adventure she guided us through. Very interesting and educational. Thank you so much! Highly recommend!

This is a great little museum, highly recommend. The tour takes about 50 minutes and gives a great insight into the rituals of death and how it's celebrated in Ireland and also the fascinating history of the city and the building which houses the museum. There are some great artefacts on display too. We had 2 kids with us, ages 8 and 10 and they loved it. Our guide was Dierdre and she was excellent, very friendly, engaging and knowledgeable. This is well worth a visit.
Aisling M — Google review
The Wake museum was an interesting experience that brings you on a guided tour around a period building where, back then, a selected number of terminally ill people could stay for free in return for praying for the owner's health. (It's something explained in more detail by the guide... I won't spoil it for you). The tour will take about an hour and I believe was worth the money even if the property is quite small. Definitely would recommend the experience.

The Irish Silver Museum boasts an extensive collection of Irish silver, showcasing the country's history through exquisite craftsmanship. Visitors can explore a millennium of history, from Viking Silver to eighteenth-century dining and luxury items. The museum offers a fascinating display of vintage silverware and is conveniently located near the Waterford Treasure Museum. With knowledgeable staff and a brilliant historical context, it comes highly recommended for those visiting the area.
Don't be fooled by this museum's small size. The two rooms are packed with rare and exemplifying objects of Ireland's silver trade. I recommend not to skip the vids nor cut them short for they beautifully unfold Irish history based on silver, its trade, processing, use, and impact on society. Plus you can watch silversmiths at work. Take your time to discover the details and intricate designs! Loved it!
Sabine K — Google review
From all the museums we visited in the Viking Triangle, this one was the only one we felt that it wouldn’t have been bad to actually skip it. Don’t get me wrong, it is interesting and takes you on a journey through the Irish history of using silver. But it is incredibly small, more like an exhibition instead of a full museum.

Located within the vikings triangle, is this wonderful (small)museum dedicated to silver treasures, to get excellent value best to visit here in conjunction with the freedom of waterford pass.
V H — Google review
A lovely museum on a topic rarely explored. Do get the Freedom pass as it is the best value. Lots of great things to see here but two cases were mislabeled.
Matthew L — Google review
Added another star just now due to a thoughtful and positive response to my comments from the museum (thank you). There's a good display of sumptuous silver but no other level to interact with what I hoped would be a good learning experience about Irish silver. There is a silver craftsperson in the museum who may be interesting to learn from but they were busy and animated over sales. I gave them space to interact with customers and came back later to ask my question about an 200 year old piece of Dublin silver ...I didn't feel the staff member was particularly interested as she said we should go ask at another museum! So, despite the display, we found this museum lacking.
Wendy L — Google review
Small museum but packed full of silver exhibits, many different sizes, shapes & uses. Some beautiful pieces on display, particularly on the banquet table. Would have been nice to have a little information board documenting the manufacture & use of some of the objects. Visited as part of the freedom pass (20euro)

Museum has a display of vintage silverware from the 1700’s-1800’s. Good to visit during Waterford stay. Located near the Waterford treasure museum.
Priyanka G — Google review
We visited this Museum as part of the combined Waterford Museums ticket and really enjoyed it. The collection is amazing and pieces are beautiful. Irish silver, even those from the churches rather than homes, is surprisingly simple and not as ornate as silver from other countries. The staff are knowledgeable about the collection.

The House of Waterford Crystal is a world-famous attraction located just a short walk from various other points of interest. Visitors have the option to take a guided tour of the factory or explore the showroom for free. The craftsmanship and precision involved in creating each piece are truly impressive, justifying the prices. Many visitors express their newfound appreciation for the craft and its artisans after taking the tour, which provides insight into the company's history and techniques used in creating their crystal pieces.
Tour of facility was very enjoyable. Got to see how the process works from charging the furnaces to blowing, cutting etc. All employees were very friendly and amazing to see the work they do.
Henry D — Google review
Guided tour was very informative and it was amazing being able to watch the master craftsmen at work. The history was well explained as was the process to become a mature craftsman. Beautiful display pieces and commissions
June L — Google review
Very informative tour, they answered any question we had. The tour leader was great. I liked the tour as I enjoy knowing how things are made. The prices were higher than I was expecting and the quality is outstanding. The amount of training an experience the craftsman need is very significant. The tour will teach you a lot. Recommend taking the tour.
Nicole P — Google review
Great guided factory tour where you can see all stages of production from wood shop to glass blowing to finish work is well worth the cost.
Jim F — Google review
We very much enjoyed the factory tour, though we never learned where they get the materials to make crystal. I wanted to buy an item which was €120 or so and discounted to €89. It was however €34 on Waterford's USA and €85 on Waterford's UK website. I asked for a price match and the staff member had to ask the manager. She agreed, but I assumed that I would be paying €34. One should not have to consult a manager to give a price match with the price in their own UK site and inform customer that it is the only site with which they will price match.
Valérie — Google review
A visit to Waterford surely isn't complete without a visit to the Waterford Crystal shop. But I was very disappointed. The displays are quite impressive but hugely overpriced. It was sterile and more of a showcase than a shop. If you have a spare 10 minutes, take a look but if you want to purchase, you'll need some serious dollar
Simon B — Google review
Reasonable price to tour the factory, and very interesting. Plenty on display in the store, but most above my price level
Trevor D — Google review
Amazing place. Better to book tickets in advance but not necessarily required. The staff is very nice and helpful. It's a wonderful way to learn how the crystals are made, we could have stay there for hours to watch the tradesmen at work. It's a 50 min tour. Best experience. I went on a really good day. There was a festival going on waterford on that day. Loved it.

The Viking Triangle in Waterford is a historic area that was once enclosed by the city's Viking walls. It holds significant cultural and heritage attractions, including Reginald's Tower, The Bishop's Palace, and the Medieval Museum. This quarter offers a glimpse into Ireland's medieval past with its narrow streets and atmospheric public spaces. Reginald's Tower, built by Vikings in 914, stands as Ireland's oldest civic building and has been an integral part of the city for over 800 years.
To get a full appreciation of this wonderful, area we highly recommend the waterford treasures pass, (excellent value for money), The medieval museum is a must visit, as is the epic walking tour, easy to spend 3 days exploring, everything, they have to offer.

Unfortunately the Giant dragon slayer sword wasn’t there because a car reversed on it! I loved Waterford with all its Viking history.

Took us a while to realise this is an area of Waterford, rather than a specific spot on the map! The triangle is a historical section of Waterford that was walled and fortified. There is a model outside Reginald Tower on the water front (pictured) that shows it, and from there, you can get an idea of what the triangle actually is. There's also an old section of the wall that has preserved inside Penney's store.

Waterford Treasures: King Of The Vikings offers an innovative Viking Virtual Reality Adventure, set in a recreated Waterford Viking house at the City's Viking Triangle. Visitors can immerse themselves in animated information panels and don a magical helmet to journey back 1,100 years, encountering the ghost of King Reginald and an Irish Christian monk.
This was fabulous!! The VR experience transports you back through time! A time when the shores of Waterford would have been lined with Viking ships and thatched roofs. The experience is made real by sitting in a little hut, like thingy, the story is narrated from the view of a religious historian and from a Viking. All in all, it’s some of the best 30 minutes you will spend in Ireland. Really well done, the staff was fabulous, the history available is superb. 👏👏🇮🇪
Rich M — Google review
Interesting way of learning the history of the Vikings. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. VR itself was good enough quality in my opinion (not amazing either) but it was also my first time trying it out so I have nothing to compare it to. I wouldn’t recommend to anyone who experiences motion sickness. Audio was hard to understand at times unfortunately. All in all - reasonably priced, and a quick, fun activity.
Sarah C — Google review
One of the only two things that made Waterford a worthwhile visit. The price is reasonable for a short fun activity and the staff, especially the viking guide was fun and super charismatic. Only slight disappointment was the VR experience itself. It was great but not super amazing quality and the story while informative and interesting could have used some more action scenes and truly make you take part in some raiding - I mean why else would you go to experience the life of Vikings in VR???

Nice place to visit, the whole place is like a carnival festival. There big sword kept there which is beautifully carved by viking stories. There is also a big wooden statue of viking king half embedded in wall, which is a nice spot to take a picture. It is right besides the church, there a bust stop nearby also a pay car park. Ifvyou are planning to spend a day somewhere in Waterford , then this is the best pace to go. This place is Street food lovers heaven, there are many stalls along the road where you can try different street food.

Waterford Whisky offers a unique terroir tour that showcases their barley-forward, natural whisky. The Map of Provenance leads visitors through Irish farms that have contributed over 100 distinct flavor sources, unveiling the mysteries of organic, biodynamic, and heritage barley. The distillery's focus on barley as a source of complex flavors is evident throughout the educational and in-depth tour. Visitors are impressed by the owners' dedication to revitalizing the community and their innovative approach to whiskey production.
Excellent tour, including the old brewery, the new brewery which has been converted to a distillery, and tasting (selection of three whiskeys). Their approach is different from other distilleries that we visited, namely, they focus on the terroir of barley. This makes it really worth a visit no matter how many other distilleries you have visited! On top of their different approach, the whiskey is of high quality and excellent taste. The tour was fairly priced for the attention we got. We do not regret having skipped the distillery in Middleton and instead have come to this place. By the way, Waterford as a city is really worth a visit.
Karsten S — Google review
Best distillery tour in Ireland!!! It was the most tasty whisky we had as well. Very educational, with their main focus being the barley. They are very busy proving that barley has just as many flavor complexities as grapes in wine. We really enjoyed the in-depth tour and history of the property. I was impressed with the owners focus. He is bringing new life into a community that had previously found their calling in beer. It's a close-knit group running the operation locally with a stunning result. I'm looking forward to the future of the whisky. 👏
Austin T — Google review
One of the best and most innovative modern distilleries, and the process and the people create some of the best whisk(e)y in the world. This is the next generation and evolution of whisk(e)y. Most importantly at the distillery, the experience and the whiskey are both amazing. It's not on everyone's map for Irish whisk(e)y and that is an amazing oversight in my opinion. If you plant your feet in Ireland more than a few hours, make sure to make your way to Waterford, and say hi to Meghan who made an already great time even better!
Isaac A — Google review
We visited Waterford Whisky today where Lauren gave us the best distillery tour. Waterford has taken the concept of terroir and applied it to whisky with great success. They have standardized their production process, using the same distillation techniques, same water, same yeast, same barrels for every batch. The only variable is the barley. The best barley is said to come from southeast Ireland. Some grows by the sea, in sandy soil. Some in boggy inland fields. Some in rocky soil. It affects the flavor of the barley. Other distilleries buy bulk commodity barley from whomever. Waterford buys from the individual farmers. Each bottle has a code that you can use to find the farm that grew the barley, in addition to lots of other information about who distilled, where the specific barrels came from, all manner of interesting details about the whisky in that bottle. We tasted several different whiskies, they were different from each other, but they were uniformly excellent. In an age where whisky brands are falling over each other aging their spirits in increasingly crazy barrels ("this spends 3 years in ex-bourbon barrels, then 6 months in rum casks, and finishes for 2 months in beer barrels..."), it's refreshing to have a clean whisky taste. Waterford is correct: it's all about the barley. Single farm barley. The best whisky!
Bruce I — Google review
Cool distillery. Tour was great with a small shop
Richard D — Google review
The Lakefield1.1 is a very special whiskey with a true Irish soul. My best birthday's present. I hope to visit that farm during my next trip to Ireland
Dominique H — Google review
Who knew that the impact of terroir on flavor is every bit as much a thing for Irish whisky as it is for French wine? Waterford, that's who. They've actually proven this via rigorous lab analysis (think CSI meets aromatherapy) but you don't need to know the science behind it to appreciate the distinctive complexity of both their single farm organic and their layered, cuvée whiskies. A toast to the Tēireoir!
Gigi G — Google review

Nestled in the vibrant heart of Waterford City, Momo Restaurant is a culinary gem that promises an unforgettable dining experience. With its innovative menu, Momo invites food enthusiasts to embark on a gastronomic adventure featuring unique dishes like smoked cod risotto paired with bacon and maple syrup or slow-cooked beef ribs complemented by roasted parsnips and garlic puree. The restaurant caters to diverse dietary preferences, offering an impressive array of vegetarian, vegan, dairy-free, and gluten-free options.
From start to finish, our evening at Momo Restaurant in Waterford was exceptional. The service was fantastic—warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. We began with the veggie sampler, which set the tone with vibrant, fresh flavors. For my main course, I had the John Dory fish, and I can honestly say it was out of this world—perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. After such a stellar meal, I couldn’t resist dessert, and I’m glad I didn’t. It was the perfect ending to an already incredible experience. To top it all off, Camilla took the time after dinner to chat with us and offer some great local pub recommendations. That personal touch really made the night memorable. Highly recommend Momo for anyone looking for amazing food, outstanding service, and a genuinely warm atmosphere.

I visited here during a midweek trip to the Viking city and stumbled across Momo Restaurant. The lady at reception kindly offered me a table which I was not expecting as the restaurant was very busy. The menu is varied and there's something for everyone and ultimately I ordered the pan fried hake with mussels, green veg (broccoli and asparagus) served with a side dish of roast potato. The hake was cooked to perfection and there was a generous portion size of 2 fillets. The veg and accompanying sauce were also delicious. The potatoes deserve a place on the menu by themselves. The best roast potatoes I've ever eaten. Deliciously flavoured, crispy edges and floury inside. I ate an entire bowl of them and would honestly bo back for them alone. Occasionally I come across places like Momo who have such a love for food that it shows on every dish. Couldn't be better.

Lovely staff and a nice setting, but €15 for a wrap on its own just can’t be justified. I totally understand that rates, bills, and wages all need to be covered, but at that price, even a few chips or a small salad on the side would make a big difference.

Needs reservation as it’s in prime place and less table downstairs. We ordered some of the appetizers and main course and found it to be delicious. Only two points about two dishes. Vegetable biryani we said we want it spicy and it was too spicy that it had lost its flavor. Paneer tikka masala was surprisingly sweet otherwise it is medium spicy by the name. The host was amazing and knows how to market his restaurant. Overall service was also great and quick.

Bishop's Palace Café is a historical museum located in Waterford City, right across from the famous Waterford Crystal. The museum, housed in a building designed by architect Richard Cassels in 1741, showcases the city's history from the 18th century to the 1970s through various artifacts and paintings. Notable exhibits include the Penrose Decanter, dating back to 1789.
Stopped in well wondering the triangle for some breakfast. Looking over the menu, it was obvious this place was not going to disappoint. Also I saw a lot of empty plates. I overheard the kind waitress recommend the French toast to the folks next to me. That was it, French toast it was, with a chi latte, what the heck, it’s vacation! Holy wow.. every single bit of all of it was sublime 🤤. I got the caramelized banana French toast. I was suspicious about not having maple syrup, my normal go to… Nope, throw the rules out, this was in the top 3 best breakfast meals ever. Historical landmark
Beach Tower, Waterford is a 15th-century defensive tower that offers stunning views of the nearby River Suir and city docks. It is part of the old city walls and currently does not allow public access to its interior. However, visitors can admire the exterior from various vantage points. The tower has been meticulously restored and provides a glimpse into medieval history. Despite being located in a car park, it offers beautiful and worthwhile views for those interested in exploring historical landmarks.
It was fun, to explore and locate the six surviving towers, as well as long stretches of the town wall, as it turns out the largest collection of all Ireland. We actually were very lucky to be able to visit this tower during the Sam Hain, procession, and performance at the tower This was the last tower of our exploring being the sixth of the six surviving towers It was built on a natural rocky outcrop which we could walk up to, then follow the steps down to the base which these days is a car park. It was fun to seek out the towers, and walls, which we highly recommend time permitting

Nice tower to sightsee as part of the medieval city wall. Even with nice lighting in the night.

Because of the historical significance of these medieval towers and the remaining wall, it’s worth viewing them, but it’s a shame the city isn’t doing more to showcase these “Waterford Treasures.” This one is basically a car park. A sign posted says “The ‘project’ is part-financed by European Community”. what project? A car park? The city should make a buffer zone of park land with a walking trail connecting the medieval wall sections and towers. Remove development and car parks with no historical importance.

This place is part of the old city walls and as such there is no public access to the inside of the property at this time. The external of the building may be viewed from several locations.
David H — Google review
Waterford is tightly packed with history, this is one of the towers to the old city walls which has been restored

A remarkable tower not promoted enough.
