Castel Sismondo is a 15th-century fortress located in piazza Malatesta, named after Sigismondo Pandolfo Malatesta, the lord of Rimini at that time. The castle has been revitalized to become a cultural hub and hosts a semi-weekly market, exhibitions, and events.
A very small castle that you can walk in the gardens which we did. Due to our short time we haven't been in the Fellini museum, but we got to walk around it and you can walk through the main door in the garden of the castle. The castle it belonged to Malatesta family, one of the richest in Rimini. When we went we were pleased to see the fountains were on with mist spray.

Castel Sismondo is a beautiful Renaissance-era fortress located in the heart of Rimini. It was built in the 15th century by Sigismondo Pandolfo Malatesta, one of the most powerful lords of the region, both as a residence and a stronghold. The castle’s design reflects both military strength and artistic ambition, blending defensive features with elegant architectural details. Today, it stands as a cultural landmark, hosting exhibitions and events, while preserving the legacy of Rimini's noble past. A stunning site that’s definitely worth visiting for its history, atmosphere, and beauty.
Carlos J — Google review
Unfortunately, Castel Sismondo is closing in the noon time, I assume for siesta and I didn’t make it to see it inside. Hopefully next time. Outside is beautiful though with the water in front of it.
Maria A — Google review
I'm speechless. The castle is unique, the way they exposed Fellini's art is really amazing and worth visiting. I love art of all kinds and this place fullfield my soul.
Stela P — Google review
Nice building but the expectation of the castle , the inside was all about the filmmaker fellini. My bad. But if you like the history of film a must visit. Within the ticket there is 1 extra museum included.
Ducati D — Google review
We got there around 3pm about a hour and a half before closing, there is a Federico Fillini Museum exhibition on at the moment which is stunning, there didn't seem to be access to see any other parts of the castle and restricted to the exhibition areas inside, still worth a visit. Tickets included another venue.
Dave M — Google review
Nice but not all building for visiting. There is now museum Fellini.
Magdalena Ć — Google review
Didn’t pay to go in. This is based only on the facade and going through the castle to the other exit: superb, well maintained, buggy-friendly, it is a unique sight of Rimini. Highly recommended.

3Murales del borgo San Giuliano

Nestled near the ancient Tiberius Bridge lies one of Rimini's most enchanting spots: Borgo San Giuliano. This historic neighborhood, once home to fishermen and artisans, is a delightful maze of narrow streets and charming squares that exude an old-world charm reminiscent of Federico Fellini’s films like "Clowns" and "Amarcord." While the area has evolved from its humble beginnings—no longer featuring crumbling walls but instead adorned with vibrant pastel colors—the essence remains intact.
Must see place in Rimini! Beautiful tiny streets that are full of colors, decorations and murals. Great place for a walk, photo session and a food and wine break in one of cute little restaurants spread around the area

(Translated by Google) I've been on the hunt for street art lately, and I found this village on Google, just a few kilometers from the town where I'm vacationing. Personally, I found it charming and relaxing to walk through the streets, stopping to admire the murals (some well-preserved, others less so), all reminiscent of Fellini films. If you're in the Rimini area, I think it's worth a visit.

(Translated by Google) The Borgo di San Giuliano was an ancient fishing village and still retains all its colorful houses, now renovated. What sets it apart from the past are the numerous murals that Rimini artists began painting in the 1980s. Initially, they depicted daily life in the village; starting in 1994, shortly after his death, artists began paying homage to the great director Fellini by reproducing scenes from his films.

Gelateria Biologica Santa Colomba, located on Piazza Malatesta in Rimini, is an award-winning gelateria known for its delicious organic ice cream, including vegan options. The mango sorbet and peanut salted caramel flavors are particularly popular. Situated by Rimini's main piazza, it offers a perfect spot to relax and enjoy the surroundings.
Best ice cream I’ve had in years! Most of the flavours are lactose free and some are also vegan. The cones are all gluten free. A paradise for people with food intolerance. The flavours were absolutely delightful. Lovely seating outside. The frozen cakes also looked divine. The 3 flavours cup only costs €3.50. I’d come back. I wish there were more gelaterie like this.

Slavi T — Google review
Disappointing and overpriced. This gelateria might use real ingredients (as you’d expect in Italy), but the flavors are honestly underwhelming. The taste feels flat and uninspired — nothing close to the level of quality you find in many other gelaterie nearby. It’s mid at best, but priced like it’s top-tier.

Nestled in the heart of Rimini, the Malatestiano Temple is a stunning 13th-century church that underwent significant reconstruction in the 15th century to serve as a mausoleum for Sigismondo Pandolfo Malatesta. This architectural marvel showcases an impressive marble facade inspired by the Arch of Augustus, crafted by renowned architect Leon Battista Alberti.
The unfinish cathedral is very attractive inside and outside. Built in 1809 by Leon Battista Albert in marble surrounding the preview church of St Francis. Inside you will find a lot of paintings and frescos by various Italian artists, and a Crucifixion by Giotto. What I did liked about the cathedral is all the detail that have gone into the marble columns and everything that connected them. the elephant bases, the angels and all the other details.
Angie O — Google review
Beautiful temple with the relic of St Nicholas on display. Such amazing icons and religious symbols on display on the vast ceilings and walls. The cross in the back of the church was so beautiful and looked like it was glowing. A must see for anyone visiting Rimini. Please note that there’s a dress code of no tank tops/short skirts for women and t-shirts/short shorts for men.

Recently renovated, this cathedral is not the conventional church you'll often find. Some people dislike its "unfinished" shape, but I think that's what makes this place special. Step in to admire some valuable art pieces
Gabriele T — Google review
There is a lot to do in Rimini, like: visit the beach, visit San Marino, visit Little Italy, etc. However, when you are there for a couple of days, don't forget to visit the old town. Because, if you can walk into this Cathedral, of which construction began in the 9th century, or walk on the Tiberius bridge, of which construction began in the year 14 AD, it is remarkable that those kind of structures are still standing and in use today!
Stan K — Google review
This cathedral is the masterpiece of the Italian Renaissance. Tempio Malatestiano is a beautiful one-nave church built by Leon Battista Alberti in 1450, by order Sigismondo Pandolfo Malatesta. The church was supposed to represent the secular power of the client, and the impression was enhanced by a fantastic ornament in the interior with mystical and secret iconography. Reminiscence of antiquity is evident on the facade of the Cathedral. The façade repeats the motif of the triumphal arch, and on the sides of the arcade motif imitating ancient aqueduct. The sarcophagi of Sigismondo Malatesta and his mistress Isotte degli Atti were to be located in the semicircular recesses on the facade, and the recesses on the sides of the building were intended as the tombs of scholars and poets from Malatesta's court. But the Cathedral was never completed. The medal by Matteo de 'Pasti from 1450 shows the original appearance that the temple should have had, with a large rotunda covered by a hemispherical dome similar to that of the Pantheon. It is beautiful on the inside where the works of famous Italian Renaissance painters and sculptors decorate the Cathedral. We can admire the Giotto’s Crucifix ( Crocifisso di Rimini ), fresco by Piero della Francesca ( Sigismondo Pandolfo Malatesta in preghiera davanti a San Sigismondo (1451), a large canvas by Vasari (San Francesco che riceve le stigmate). We also enjoyed the magnificent works of the artists Leon Battista Alberti, Matteo de 'Pasti, Agostino di Duccio. Magnificent Cathedral with a lovely atmosphere.

Nestled near the serene Rimini beach, the Church of Saint Mary Help of Christians boasts stunning neo-Gothic architecture that captivates visitors. Its tranquil interior offers a perfect escape for those seeking a moment of peace amidst their explorations. The church is not only visually appealing but also has an interesting history worth discovering. While I visited, it was undergoing some exterior renovations, yet inside remained a calm sanctuary filled with friendly faces and well-conducted liturgies.

Chiesa del Suffragio is a significant 18th-century church in Rimini, built by the Jesuits following the model of the Roman Jesus Church. The exterior features a simple facade with exposed bricks, while inside, there is a regular plan with a single nave and numerous altars on each side, connected by a spiritual walkway. This small church holds historical significance and exudes a beautiful spiritual atmosphere, making it an off-the-beaten-path destination worth visiting.

There is no gel at the entrance and almost no one wears a mask, or it is worn on the chin, even the volunteer comes by to ask for donations, with the mask on his chin, crazy! I came to this Church because I was late to go to my parish, but it was a mistake, I was uncomfortable the whole time and I couldn't wait to go out. At Mass we were told to be good and aim for Heaven, but to do this we must think of others before ourselves, wearing a mask is a gesture of respect for others, even when it is hot.

The Catholic church of Santa Rita is home to a remarkable and ancient wooden choir, consisting of 42 panels. These intricately designed panels were originally part of a 15th-century church in Florence, making them both historically significant and highly esteemed. Santa Rita itself holds special reverence as the patron saint of impossible causes, earning it admiration and gratitude from its followers. This holy place stands as a testament to faith, offering solace and hope for those who seek divine intervention.
A small but a beautiful church from the 13th century with a baroque style ceiling. There's a crafted wooden choir from the 15th century. There's a few other interesting sculptures and a wooden crucifix by German sculpture from the 16th century.

(Translated by Google) The one known in Rimini as Santa Rita is a small but precious church that forms the backdrop to via Castelfidardo (and can already be seen from the beginning of the street, which marks the border between the very central via Dante and via IV Novembre). In reality the parish is now dedicated to Saints Bartolomeo and Marino. And, from San Marino, four beautiful canvases by Giorgio Picchi tell the stories. Dating back to the end of the 16th century, they are placed above the choir, among beautiful contemporary frescoes attributed to Picchi himself (from the Marche) and to Bartolomeo Cesi from Bologna. Advancing towards the altar, along the single nave, some notable artistic highlights flow along the sides, such as on the left a beautiful Crucifix, a wooden sculpture from the beginning of the 16th century, followed by a plastic sculptural group in plaster by Antonio Trentanove, in memory of Pope Pius VI, who was in Rimini in 1784. On the right, however, you can admire the painting: "San Michele Arcangelo vanquishing the devil" by G. Laurentini, known as Arrigoni. But the most precious of all the works of art that this sacred space preserves dates back to the end of the 1400s and is undoubtedly the wooden choir made up of 22 walnut seats finely inlaid with scenes that alternate glimpses of the city and still lifes.

(Translated by Google) This year, 2020, the annual feast of Saint Rita will not be held because it would be contrary to the requirements of the Ministry of Health and the government to prevent contagion from the Corona virus. It would be too difficult if not impossible to comply with the rules to prevent contagion. Mass times: Every day Sunday including 9.00 am. Respect the special hygiene rules: - show up in front of the church in advance (15 minutes before?), places are limited; -always maintain a distance between people (1.50 m?); -wash your hands with a disinfectant (hydral-alcoholic, Amuchina or similar) as soon as you enter the church, rubbing for 20 seconds. If one can, an offering is very welcome, but after touching the money one must wash one's hands in the aforementioned manner. - during the celebration of mass the beggar probably does not pass by: offerings are made before or after mass by placing them in an offering box; -communion, according to what the celebrant says: you go to receive it at the altar in line, passing through the center of the church, keeping a distance of 2 metres. Once you arrive in front of the minister of communion, you keep the mask over your nose and mouth, you hold out your hands towards the minister, with your right hand under your left hand. Having received the Particle, one moves away from the minister and the other faithful by approximately 2 MT. With the right hand (the Eucharist is in the other) the mask is removed at least enough to show the mouth, the host is taken and put in the mouth (it is good that the priest or the faithful see that the host comes put in your mouth), you put your mask back on and go back to your place passing around the sides of the church. Alternatively, communion is brought to the faithful in the pews by the ministers; usually it is received in the hands and the mask is removed only when the minister is distant; -leave the church as soon as possible (as soon as mass is over?) to allow air exchange and disinfection. - the mask should be treated like a used handkerchief; he must close his mouth and nose at least when moving around the church; to remove it you must hold the elastics without touching the filtering part. Historical news. In this place he lived and worked for some time as a stonecutter. Marino (that of the republic of the same name). It was the seat of the bishop of Rimini until the 1980s (?); until the 1970s the windows seem to have been tall and narrow, typical of Gothic architecture, two of them can be seen, closed, on the façade. Well restored interior furnishings. The floor was redone after the war thanks to a donation from Count Palloni. Some of the works of art inside are: inlaid choir (see "Fabbrizioli" review); ancient wooden crucifix; the monument to Pope Pius VII (it is said that in front of the monument there were steps; at the time of the passage of Pope Pius VII it seems that a room had been built in the cloister for the Pope which had an open window on the inside of the church on the side a mare), paintings of the life of St. Marino, in one you can see the ancient Rimini basilica of S. Colomba, (it seems that in Rimini it is only in this painting and in another in the church of S. Gaudenzo); on the mountain side of the altar there is a holy water font used as a baptismal font. Above the stoup there is a metal cover depicting John the Baptist baptizing with a written dedication to the sac. Filippo di Grazia, one of the parish priests in this church and an important figure in the Rimini church; 18th century Venetian Callido organ, transported by sea, a single keyboard, four scales, five registers (?), pedal board with 12 pedals plus one that reproduces the noise of the drum; et al. In the portico of the cloister next to the church, there is a well used or dug by S. Marino (it is not the one that is now found in the cloister lawn). In the period from the Renaissance to the Enlightenment the church was officiated by the canonical Lateran friars. For further information, see also Prof.'s guide to the church. Piergiorgio Pasini, Il Ponte publishing house, via Cairoli 69 Rimini. Orario messa: Tutti i giorni Domenica compresa H 9,00. Piergiorgio Pasini, editrice Il Ponte, via Cairoli 69 Rimini.

(Translated by Google) It's a beautiful building. Very spacious, and the parish priest is very helpful. However, speaking as a photographer, it's a very dark place, and is lit mainly by three spotlights in the central nave, similar to street lamps, yellow-orange in color, plus a few other spotlights here and there, with a very warm color temperature, making it quite difficult to get good photos. I recommend an orange or yellow filter for the flash. There are no large parking lots nearby, so you're left to chance. In high season (summer), it's impossible. You'll have to rely on the one near the station, 500 meters away, or the one next to the Carabinieri station. In winter, however, you're more likely to find good parking in the very narrow side streets. In alta stagione (estiva) è impossibile.

(Translated by Google) I thought I was in front of an ancient church when I saw it from the square, half covered by another building dedicated to prayer. Instead, past the modern wooden doors, I entered a church with unusually modern shapes. First of all the octagonal structure, surmounted by a small dome supported by a very tall conical-shaped structure. Behind the altar is a high, brightly painted wall, in contrast with the dark-toned flooring. All around statues and paintings housed in recesses harmoniously created to give linearity with the environment. The arrangement of the benches simulates a big embrace and an atmosphere of absolute tranquility: a contrast with the liveliness and frenzy that characterize the square and the streets of the historic centre. Located in the city of Rimini, the Santuario della Madonna della Misericordia is a small and intimate sanctuary dating back to the 14th century. The Renaissance facade and single nave interior in Renaissance style make it a must-see for visitors. The sanctuary is built to commemorate a miracle, with the main altar preserving an image of the Merciful Mother that is said to have moved her eyes on May 12, 1850.
The church is also known as Santa Chiara, and when I went by there was a service and I couldn't visit the inside as much as I would have liked to. Is a church in Baroque style from the Roman Catholic. The church is best known for housing a venerated icon of the Madonna that has putatively moved its eyes for many believers.

On May 11, 1850, a miracle occurred: the Madonna of Santa Chiara moved her eyes. The miracle was repeated at intervals for eight consecutive months. The Bishop of Rimini ordered a regular trial, in which everyone unanimously asserted the reality of the prodigy. The Madonna della Misericordia was then added to the patron saints of the City and Diocese of Rimini. The image of the Madonna is the work of the Rimini painter Giuseppe Soleri Brancaleoni, who painted it in 1796 for the Poor Clares of Santa Chiara. In 1824, both the small church of Santa Chiara and part of the suppressed monastery of the Poor Clares were donated by the Bishop of Rimini to San Gaspare del Bufalo, founder of the Missionaries of the Most Precious Blood, so that he could establish a community of his priests there. They still officiate at the Sanctuary today. Nel 1824, sia la piccola chiesa di S. Established in 1418, the church of St. Fortunatus, on Covignano hill, under the name of Santa Maria in Scolca, was a rich abbey of the Olivetan Benedictines. It was built on the ruins of a castle that Carlo Malatesta had donated to St. Paul the Hermit monks. It represents one of the most important historical-artistic-ecclesial places in the history of the city. The golden age of Scolca was the sixteenth century, starting from the frescoes, still visible, by Benedetto Coda. In 1547, Giorgio Vasari went to Scolca to have the manuscript of his Celebri Vite reduced to a final copy. Here Vasari executed the splendid Adoration of the Magi panel painting.

The architecture is modern, but at the same time, very cozy and creates a feeling of harmony and lightness. The room is bright and airy. Nothing extra.

(Translated by Google) I took part in a mass yesterday, May 8th. I was in Miramare for the weekend. I was very struck by the atmosphere of joy that was perceived during the celebration, especially by the beautiful songs performed by the wonderful choir. A guitarist accompanied the melodies with fluency and enthusiasm. I speak as a violinist with decades of experience in the liturgical field. I congratulate and thank infinitely all those who collaborate in this beautiful church. The parish priest, Don Giovanni, and the very nice Sister Pinuccia were very kind and helpful. A hug. The exterior presents itself on a single brick order with a large wooden portal in the center, surmounted by the dedicatory inscription and a bronze bas-relief depicting the Saint. Among the few works that were not destroyed, there is a 17th century painting Vision of San Gaetano, a copy by Guido Reni. Overall a simple but suitable place for a spiritual break.

(Translated by Google) The Parish of Santa Giustina in Rimini is a very active Catholic reference in the Diocese of Rimini. The Second World War demolished the walls and the bell tower, but strengthened the Christian faith in the families of the town. The new Church and the bell tower have been resurrected with the late Don Domenico who led the Christian Community for over 40 years. Since 9 October 1983 the Parish has been led by Don Giuseppe ... a young priest always begins a new cycle of Christianity ... we have begun to dedicate our Christian attention to the Sacred Scripture, involving people of good will: families, young people and elderly people. In the meantime, the new Evangelization of the Madonna in the world has begun... the entire Parish Community has been involved in reflecting on the Love of the Madonna towards our families: we have begun to recite the Holy Rosary in the family and in the Parish with the help of the Radio Maria S. Giustina. Since 1988 we began to make a very intense Marian month of Prayer and meditation towards the Mother of God in May. Then we had and still have the Protection of Saint Therese of Lisieux, of which in 1996 (and subsequent years until 2021) we brought the holy mortal remains to Italy. This Saint and Our Lady have given us clear signs of Love towards our Parish and our families. When Heaven is near there is no fear in us. "If God is for us, who can be against us?" Amen! Amen!
