Park
The Park of 28 Panfilov Guardsmen, situated in the heart of Almaty, is a 44-acre urban park that pays tribute to the heroic Panfilov soldiers who fought during WWII. The park features striking war memorials and an 'eternal flame' honoring their sacrifice. Adjacent to the park stands the visually captivating Ascension Cathedral, a Tsarist-era wooden structure claimed to be one of the tallest in the world.
The park is buzzing with people and I visited this place with my family. My four-year-old had a blast with her bubble gun, fishing activity and visiting the ascension church. The experience was surreal. Also, it is good to meet local children trying to converse in English. Plenty of pigeon-feeding activities and kids keep your little ones engaged. I highly recommend this place for the kids.
Varun C — Google review
For beginners, this park house the Ascension Cathedral, museum of instruments, war memorial. One walk around the park and you will cover most of the attractions. Pleasant walking track, small shops, kid friendly stroll and further walk leads to the central park. Put your best walking shoes.
Rajesh H — Google review
Great place. Shows the history of world war and the people who have contributed their lives to save their country. Must visit for travellers! There's a beautiful music museum too. This place is near to green market and Ascension cathedral
Shivani J — Google review
28 Panfilov Guardsmen Park, Almaty 🇰🇿 A beautiful and peaceful green space in the heart of Almaty perfect for a relaxing family stroll or a quiet afternoon to feel the nature. The 28 Panfilov Guardsmen Park is not just a park, but an important historical landmark dedicated to the 28 soldiers who bravely defended Moscow during World War II. The centerpiece of the park is the impressive Eternal Flame and the War Memorial, surrounded by beautiful flower gardens and tall trees that provide shade throughout the area. The Ascension Cathedral, with its stunning wooden architecture and colorful domes, adds to the charm and makes it a must-see for visitors. There are walking paths, benches, and open areas where families relax, kids play, and tourists take photos with pigeons. The atmosphere is calm and respectful, with soft background music and a sense of history everywhere. Travel Tips: Visit in the morning or evening for the best light and fewer crowds. Combine your visit with a stop at the nearby Green Bazaar or Arbat Street. Great place for families, photographers, and history lovers. A perfect mix of history, culture, and nature, one of Almaty’s most memorable spots.
Semeer K — Google review
Big beautiful park in the centre of Almaty. Good for walking and relaxing. It includes Ascension Cathedral, war museum, and a lot of monuments. Some ice cream vendors and playing area for children.
Habib — Google review
Nice park. Better maintained than the First President Park. The monuments were classic. Reminds one of the two world wars. The ice creams sold are very bad. The cotton candy was okay.
Arun N — Google review
Beautiful park covered with lush green trees during spring and summer. It has a church inside along with the statue of Panfilov Guardsman. Great place to go with kids and spend time with family.
Vishwash G — Google review
The park is the most fantastic in early summer morning. It’s a historical place. There is a famous Cathedral that stood the devastating earthquake of 1911.

Nature & Parks
First President Park is a stunning urban oasis in Almaty, dedicated to the legacy of Kazakhstan's first president, Nursultan Nazarbayev. Opened to the public in November 2011, this expansive park spans 73 hectares and is nestled at the intersection of Navoi Street and Al-Farabi Avenue in the Bostandyk district. With its breathtaking mountain backdrop, it has quickly become a beloved spot for both locals and visitors alike.
It's a wonderful park. It serves as a tribute to the first president of Kazakhstan. Lot of space inside and very calm and clean. In autumn, it becomes colourful. Get on a warm jacket, buy a coffee from the cafe inside the park, sit on the benches and enjoy every sip. 😁
Dibyesh D — Google review
The First President's Park in Almaty is a beautiful and well-maintained green space perfect for a relaxing stroll or a peaceful retreat from the city. With its picturesque walking paths, fountains, and stunning views of the snow-capped mountains, the park offers a great spot for photography and outdoor activities. The landscaped gardens and open spaces make it ideal for picnics, jogging, or simply enjoying nature. It’s especially stunning in autumn when the trees turn vibrant shades of red and gold. A must-visit for those looking to unwind in a serene environment!
Yash M — Google review
Beautiful park can see the mountains view. Can start walking from the entrance all the way into the park, after passing by the Japanese gardens will arrive at the mountain viewing point. Very well maintained park with many chairs. From the side can walk to the dining street. The mega mall is walking distance from here. Can go there for ferries wheels if you like to enjoy the view from top. Public transport is easy to access this place.
Gan C — Google review
First President Park in Almaty is absolutely breathtaking! The park is vast, beautifully landscaped, and filled with wide pathways, fountains, and greenery that make it a perfect spot for a peaceful walk or a relaxing afternoon. The views of the surrounding city and nearby mountains are stunning, especially during sunset, making it ideal for photography and quiet reflection. However, despite its beauty, the park does feel a bit abandoned in certain areas. Some sections seem underused or less maintained, giving it a quiet and almost eerie atmosphere at times. Still, this also adds a unique charm—walking through the empty spaces makes it feel like a private escape from the bustle of the city. I especially enjoyed watching families and couples stroll leisurely, and taking in the expansive landscape. It’s a perfect blend of natural beauty and city convenience, and even with its slightly deserted areas, it remains a must-visit for anyone in Almaty. Definitely a place to experience at your own pace and enjoy the calm, scenic surroundings!
Djvred — Google review
Nice park but hard access for car or online taxi to drop or pick up. You can get a view with mountain here. Lots of kids during the weekend. a bit dissapointing no flowers when we arrived even it is spring, but still okay.
Crystaline C — Google review
The park was a lot of fun. I wouldn't necessarily put it at the top of your Almaty to-do list, but if you're looking for a pretty spot to fill some time, this is a great spot to check out. The most photogenic spot is definitely the entrance. The rest of the park is pretty and forested, but otherwise kind of unremarkable. Still, I'm glad I checked it out!
Aden A — Google review
Big and clean city park, with great views. We were not sure dogs were allowed but saw no signs against and no one stopped us entering. Inside, no one was walking their dogs so, not sure in the end.
Bulle B — Google review
so peaceful. so wonderful. I layed in the grass to soak it all in. there's so much room to walk. do you want a picnic? a proposal? a place to rest your eyes and mind? there's so much green and trees and flowers and the views of the mountains are just extravagant! I really hope to go again when I pass through Almaty.

Park
Nestled in the heart of Kazakhstan, Ile-Alatau National Park is a breathtaking expanse that was established in 1996 and spans an impressive 200,000 hectares. This natural wonder showcases a stunning array of landscapes, from lush alpine meadows to majestic glaciers and serene lakes. One of its crown jewels is the Big Almaty Lake, perched at over 2,500 meters above sea level and surrounded by the striking peaks of the Tien Shan Mountains.
It was an amazing 3.5 km trek to the top of this natural mountain gorge. The foggy and calm nature, the snow, the little girl‘s tear water fall, the snow and the nature itself was wonderful.
Ahmed Z — Google review
Beautiful and quiet place . We feel it like heaven. Very few people there . Was full of snow . Big Almaty lake was frozen. Snow peaks were all around.

Too much dense fog in 3 km trail very bad weather low visibility The tourist site in Kazakhstan is truly great and beautiful. Everything is well-organized, and the place is stunning thanks to its natural setting. However, for my next visit, I really hope there will be more facilities and clearer guidance, especially for solo travelers who don't have a tour guide.

If you come from the city, book electric taxi since the the normal taxi only allowed until Medeu. Magnificent beauty of Kazakhstan.

The snow-covered landscape of the national park created a breathtaking winter wonderland. Although the Big Almaty was inaccessible, the park itself offered a serene beauty with snow-laden trees, frozen lakes, and pristine trails. The quietude of the snow-covered scenery added a unique charm, making it a memorable and picturesque experience despite the travel limitations.

We went here in autumn. But we were too early. Every ride and park was not open yet until 11am. Otherwise, there were super duper lots of family activities to do here. But we had a great stroll in the park. A lot of picture spots. And we were lucky to come across the squirrel 🐿️ house. Super cute!!!!

Central Park is one of the must visit places in Almaty especially of you have kids. It is a park filed with amusement rides for kids. You can also enjoy a horse cart ride. Central Park is filled with a lot of greenery. You can sit, relax and have a good time here. You can easily spend half a day in the park. There were ice cream stalls too. It is a fun place.

We had such a great time at Central Park! The place is full of life and energy, with beautiful views all around that make just walking through it enjoyable. It’s spacious, green, and gives you that perfect mix of relaxation and fun. There are plenty of activities to keep everyone entertained – whether you just want a calm stroll, enjoy the fresh air, or try out some of the fun rides and games available. It’s family-friendly, lively, and a great spot to spend a few hours outdoors. Overall, Central Park felt like a refreshing break from the city — scenic, fun, and worth visiting if you’re looking for a good time outdoors. 🌿🎡

We visited Gorky Central Park in Almaty, Kazakhstan, and were truly amazed by its beautiful, old trees that give the park a peaceful, timeless feel. Established in 1856, it’s full of history and natural charm. We also visited the nearby Almaty Zoo, which made the day even more memorable.
Maan — Google review
One of the best parks I’ve visited! After the zoo, I just walked here and was amazed by the many attractions and activities. It’s beautifully designed, with stunning greenery and ponds, perfect for relaxing or exploring.
Mohamed A — Google review
It is a beautiful escape right in the heart of the city, perfect for families and travelers alike. The greenery, lakes, and walking paths make it ideal for a relaxed stroll or outdoor activities. With its fun attractions like the small amusement rides, zoo, and cafés, there’s something for every age group. The tea and snack stalls around add a cozy local touch. It’s a lively yet peaceful spot where you can enjoy both nature and entertainment together. A must-visit if you want to experience Almaty’s community vibe.
Lucky S — Google review
As visitors, we didn’t know much about this park. We were told to visit Panfilov Park or First President’s Park most of the time. So when we found this park, we were so amazed and did not expect that it is so big and is actually an amusement park with many rides and entertainment for the whole family. This park is a hidden gem; more visitors should know about it.

For younger visitors, there are trampolines, mazes, slides, and other fun activities to enjoy.
Do try 360° and drop-to-death(named by me). Family and friends oriented. Time in que is very long. Management of que is improper, the price of the inside served food is too steep, so do carry your own stuff.
Nikhil C — Google review
Small amusement park in the centre of Almaty. The entrance fee (6000 tenge) is very expensive for Kazakhstan. A large selection of rides awaits guests in the park. The big free fall tower and the big roller coaster are special highlights. However, many of the rides are only for children; unfortunately, adults are not allowed.
Oskar V — Google review
Good for kids specially, don’t miss it while in Almaty , good rids for adults and kids , few coffee shops, make sure to come early.. Earlier smother faster and quieter

Amazing place for kids - lots of rides. Good place to spend a day. For adults- shake is the best ride to do, also anaconda, tarantula. Must visit with kids in almaty
Aashima C — Google review
This place has been a center of entertainment for kids and adults for decades. Although, it seems that selection of rides has been reduced over the last few years. Still a fantastic place for families and/or friends to hang out.

Dolphinarium Nemo in Almaty is a popular attraction for visitors of all ages. It offers entertaining shows featuring dolphins performing impressive tricks, providing real fun for spectators. While the city is far from the coast, this dolphinarium draws people from across the region to witness these captivating performances. In addition to its appeal to adults, it's also a hit with children who can enjoy other attractions like Dinopark and Children's Town within the vicinity.
Great place for the whole family on a weekend. Located in Almaty Gorky Park. Entrance was 7000 tenge. Very interesting program! Sincere emotions and real delight!
Max L — Google review
This place is located inside the Central Park and tickets need to purchased from the counter. Overall the show is nice but the host only spoke in the local language and there was no translation so felt disinterested after one point of time. Also you get a chance to click a photo with the dolphin after the show ends, with additional cost.
Moiz K — Google review
Located inside central park, this is wonderful place for small kids. The show started with two sea lions performing acts and even grooving to the music. Thereafter you had two dolphins performing varied acrobatics. The people on front row seats are likely to get drenched with these feats.
Sunny B — Google review
Very good place to see dolphins (there are three 🐬) and 2 seals and spend time with family, kids. Excellent performance program. 👏👌👍. Location is also excellent, main park of the city.

So cruel.. those animals are NOT happy being kept in activity and exploited for our entertainment. The pools are so small. Disgusting
Stormi T — Google review
Good part : Very nice place, we enjoyed the show. Kids were very exited and my daughter was swimming with the dolphin. Unpleasant: What I didn't like, we paid a lot of money for 5 minutes to swim with the dolphin, and the staff was unfriendly, the lady trainer of dolphins was a rude and incompetent , discriminatory behavior.

Sunkar Falcon Nursery is a unique and educational destination where visitors can immerse themselves in the ancient art of falconry. The nursery offers awe-inspiring falconry demonstrations, providing an up-close look at these magnificent birds and insight into their significance in Kazakh culture. Situated near the Ecological (Ile Alatau) park entrance, Sunkar features a diverse collection of falcons, dogs, horses, and fruit trees.
They put up a half hour show, showcasing the local birds of prey. A very entertaining watch. Highly recommended!
Saara A — Google review
Sunkar is a wild bird park. Various owls, hawks and eagles can be viewed in the enclosures. Every day at 5 pm there is a falconry show. The tickets for this are comparatively expensive for Kazakhstan. The show is entertaining and educational. However, it is questionable how species-appropriate the facility is.

Terrancour is a popular riverside walking path that offers beautiful views and comfortable resting spots. It's considered one of the best walkways in the city, but it can get crowded, especially on hot summer evenings. However, it's not very accommodating for people with physical limitations. The trail provides a pleasant evening stroll with calming water flowing nearby and places to sit along the way. The incline is around 20-25 degrees, and the entire walk takes about an hour.
It's a walking trail and One of the most beautiful places in the city! It's literally magic during the autumn season! So many colours! Nature at its best.. There are some cafés as well along the river where you can enjoy a cappuccino.. Overall a very soothing place..

Fantastic experience. It is of course tiring to reach the peak point but it is very nice to walk with a river aside, under the trees. There are some cafe available too.

The most beautiful park in the city! I visited in autumn when the leaves turned colors — absolutely stunning. The cool weather made it perfect for a long, relaxing walk.

Tranquility Peace Silence Continuous Water voice Birds singing Peacefully Walking people This is a heaven in town. My most Favourite walking distance. If you wanna find peace start from AB restaurant at the top and walk till you reach Almaty hotel it takes 4,5 km long and beautiful ride. At the weekends it could be little more crowded but weekdays it is more peaceful. I love to be here and I fully recommend to get here and take a walk. Only minus about this route is that if there would be more sitting benches and free wifi areas on the way, that would be amazing. Apart from that it is an amazing place to be.
Onur G — Google review

In Almaty, the Terrenqour is a scenic path that unfolds from the city center, leading to the feet of majestic mountains, running alongside a small mountain river. This picturesque journey transforms into a winter fairy tale as snow blankets the landscape. The path, wrapped in tranquility, offers a serene escape where the soft crunch of snow underfoot and the silent snowflakes in the air harmonize. Here, nature crafts a magical realm, inviting wanderers to witness the pristine beauty of Almaty in winter, where each step on the Terrenqour is a step through a living, breathing wonderland.
