Green Bazaar is not just about a bazaar selling butchery, it has other stalls selling household products. Of course, butchery section is the most interesting. Selling from horse meat, beef, lamp, pork and chicken. The stall holders are very friendly. You can also find Korean food stuff here. There are also money changers with good exchange rates outside.

A hyperactive market bursting with local sights, sounds and smells. Very close to my hotel, the bazar literally offers everything under one roof. From souvenirs, dry fruits, fresh fruit and vegetables, meat, baked goods, clothes, toys and so much more. They have a money exchange there too. Prices are reasonable and fresh produce is of top quality. They even have a salon, prayer room and several cafes. Quality of fruits I bought was excellent. Don't miss it!

A local bazaar that's nothing special for those from India. You can buy various dry fruits and nuts, that's pretty much it. The rest is fruits, vegetables and meats and Chinese made clothing and shoes. Visit only if you have nothing else to do and want to buy dry fruits, else skip.

For beginners, this park house the Ascension Cathedral, museum of instruments, war memorial. One walk around the park and you will cover most of the attractions. Pleasant walking track, small shops, kid friendly stroll and further walk leads to the central park. Put your best walking shoes.

Big beautiful park in the centre of Almaty. Good for walking and relaxing. It includes Ascension Cathedral, war museum, and a lot of monuments. Some ice cream vendors and playing area for children.

Nice park. Better maintained than the First President Park. The monuments were classic. Reminds one of the two world wars. The ice creams sold are very bad. The cotton candy was okay.

As visitors, we didn’t know much about this park. We were told to visit Panfilov Park or First President’s Park most of the time. So when we found this park, we were so amazed and did not expect that it is so big and is actually an amusement park with many rides and entertainment for the whole family. This park is a hidden gem; more visitors should know about it.

This zoo is really an interesting place to visit, at a slow pace. Lots of animals to see. Always try to visit in the morning before the hot sun hits noon, so that the animals do not hide or sleep. One can easily spend 2 to 3 hours inside. The entrance is very affordable for visit. A little disappointed with some locals when they fed the animals with their food or knocked the glass encounters really hard, disturbing everyone.

Nice Zoo, not too extensive but worth the visit. Kid friendly. Lots of lions to see. They have elephant feeding 2 times per day. You can purchase tickets on the spot.

My wife and I visited this restaurant on the last day of our vacation. Auyl truly lives up to being one of the world’s best eateries! The service was top-notch from start to finish. We ordered the steak, noodles, and chicken tikka, and were pleasantly surprised with complimentary baursak as a starter and kumis for dessert. The noodles were handmade and delightfully chewy, while the steak and chicken had a rich, smoky flavor. The ambience felt both homey and aesthetically pleasing, and the views were beautiful. It’s also very easy to get to, with taxis able to drop you right at the entrance. A must visit in Almaty.

We had grilled trout which was well-cooked and the fish is soft and tender and also dumplings in chicken broth- the chicken broth is clean and the dumplings are delicious. Very cool experience in this restaurant! Greeted with friendly and attentive staff, inside you’ll immerse yourself in a very unique set up and decorations. I sat on the round table where you have to sit on the ground, and you’ll get to see a nice view of the mountains from here. We tried the fried bread, tea, dungan noodles, tandoor chicken, dumplings, horse cheek, alma apple dessert and honey cake. Everything is good, I especially loved the horse cheeks as it was super tender and well seasoned. I only found that the dungan noodles with quail on a saltier side for its soup.

Beautiful park can see the mountains view. Can start walking from the entrance all the way into the park, after passing by the Japanese gardens will arrive at the mountain viewing point. Very well maintained park with many chairs. From the side can walk to the dining street. The mega mall is walking distance from here. Can go there for ferries wheels if you like to enjoy the view from top. Public transport is easy to access this place.

The park was a lot of fun. I wouldn't necessarily put it at the top of your Almaty to-do list, but if you're looking for a pretty spot to fill some time, this is a great spot to check out. The most photogenic spot is definitely the entrance. The rest of the park is pretty and forested, but otherwise kind of unremarkable. Still, I'm glad I checked it out!

MEGA Alma-Ata is a good mall for both shopping and dining. It is a busy place with a wide variety of options for visitors.

I visited the mall today and was horrified to see a small black-tipped reef shark in a tiny aquarium, along with a couple of huge eels. The shark in particular was distressing to see, as it was swimming round and round the tank, which is clearly insufficient in size for such a creature. The shark had an injury to the pectoral fin that was continually bumping into the glass. The eels also appeared to be distressed. Despite the ‘no touching’ sign, people continued to tap the glass while I watched. These animals should be free in the ocean, not kept in inadequate stressful conditions for the viewing pleasure of shoppers. Very disappointing and I hope this will be reconsidered. If it makes a difference, I’m a veterinarian.

A huge modern mall with many international brands. It has a skating ring and multiple spots of cute attractions like the mini koi pond and mini sea aquarium. The supermarket galmart is also mega. There are many food outlets here that you can choose from. Great choices. Recommend to spend half a day here.

The size seems big on the map but actually a large part is off-limits to visitors and much is an asphalt roadway. 4/5 is fair as a pleasant retreat within a major city, though it's not really a botanical garden...just a well-kept garden.

It doesn't have much incommon with botanical garden, it's basically just a park, where you need to pay for entrance. I recommend to go to first president park instead, it's free and more beautiful. Also, foreigners have to pay 2 times bigger amount for entrance, which is pretty stupid.

The cable car ride is awesome. Make sure you go on a cool day. If it’s sunny, it could get a little bit too hot inside the cables cars. When we reached the top of the mountains, we had only patches of snow here and there. But it was beautiful. You get to dress up and hold an eagle if you wish to.

Visited during the maintenance of Combi 1 & 2, but still got to take the gondola and KKD-4 — the views were amazing! The downside is there was no notice or sign saying that DSLRs are not allowed. I had to leave mine in a staff room with no guarantee of safety, which was quite disappointing.

This is the best cable car in Almaty! It has three parts, so plan ahead. The return ticket costs 8,000 tenge per person. Enjoy the long ride with stunning views and amazing restaurants at the top. A must-visit!

Quite a middling experience for me especially since I got the 360 ticket. Pros: 1. There are 3 routes that are back-to-back. The total length is certainly quite long and is impressive. 2. The round trip costs either 8000 or 10000 tenge (the latter for the 360 cabin with the glass floor). Considering the length of these trips, the price is justifiable and has good value. 3. The cable cars come fast. Cons: 1. The 360 cabin exists only on the first route. I didn’t see information when I was paying for the ticket stating this was the case and was disappointed to find out later that the other two routes don’t have this amenity. 2. The 360 cabin comes quite infrequently. At one point I think I waited ten minutes. 3. The cable cars are dirty, especially the glass, leading to a compromised view. 4. There’s a lot of haphazard development even at the absolute top (lots of establishments, asphalt and dirt roads, buildings, fences etc.) that it’s challenging to appreciate the nature on the route. I didn’t hike here but it certainly doesn’t feel worth it due to how much infrastructure there is. 5. The actual views aren’t anything special at least for me. If you’ve been to tours around Almaty, you’re not missing out. 6. Staff aren’t particularly friendly and don’t speak English. They won’t even ask the people waiting if anyone has a 360 cabin ticket and will just close its door. 7. The ski lifts going up the final route were all barred from use. 8. The cable cars all stopped working for 15 minutes on the first route. Announcements came slowly and only in Russian. In conclusion, if you’ve exhausted the tours and sights in and around Almaty and have a chill day to spend, then I can imagine it’s worth coming out here. Otherwise, it’s not something I’d prioritize. The 360 cabin is nice but make sure to wait for them (the blue cabins with the Samsung logo) and to notify the staff that you have the right ticket for them.

Visited around 2 PM and there was a long queue for tickets and the ride but it moved quickly. Paid 8000 tenge for the roundtrip ride. The gondola glides over breathtaking mountain views that look like a postcard. Since it’s summer, it did get warm inside the gondola but the scenery makes up for it. The area is easy to reach from downtown Almaty and taxis are readily available in the entrance or can book via app.

Unfortunately the service at Mega isn't as good as the Gogol one and there are some pretty rude waiters here! The food is fine though I agree with another reviewer that some savoury dishes are disgustingly sweet -- other restaurants have the same problem . Anyway, the only reason I go to the Mega restaurant is because Gogol is too far.

The waiting staff, including the hostess, have facial expression ready for a funeral and establish an eye contact ... forget it. There are many Georgian restaurants in Almaty, but from my point of view, if you enjoy Georgian cuisine you will like Daredzani as well. The place has different locations in the city. Ajapsandali was good, but not the best. Only eggplant and red bell pepper, in Georgia the dish has more flavors. I should mention ice cream, it was served in simple water cup, which is not quite nice, otherwise serving style was ok. Overally it is a good place, adapted to the locals, but some improvements can be taken into account.

Because we were in a hurry we just ate the stakes and asked for the check from another waiter and he brought us our check, WOW, so much money for poor quality overcooked steaks and some water, and NO SERVICE but of course the tips are already included, so no worries the waiter still got his money for doing nothing!!
