Palazzo Ricchieri in Pordenone dates back to the 13th century and was originally a defensive tower house. It later became the residence of the noble Ricchieri family under Venetian rule. Today, it houses the Civic Art Museum, showcasing wooden sculptures and original works by Pordenone. The elegant Gothic facade and well-preserved interior offer visitors a glimpse into history.
Some lovely Venetian buildings and architecture, with fresco paintings on the outside of the buildings that line the streets. Some caffes and restaurants nearby.

Good despite illegal van parking in front of the building😅

It's a small town but very fancy and clean, well preserved and taken care of, with friendly people. It takes you in a medieval atmosphere. Everything seemed to me to be Venetian-like styled. But this is because the whole region is mutually influenced and influencing with regard to architecture, culture, habits and so on. Palazzo Riccchieri looks good on the outside, it's been rehabilitated in a manner I really like, because it shows portions of the old coating coming out through the new coating of the walls. This happens to all old and rehabilitated buildings in Pordenone. Unfortunately I did not have the occasion to get inside, as it was late when we arrived there.

The Duomo Concattedrale di San Marco, located in the central square of the same name, may not have an impressive exterior due to its unfinished facade, but it houses a rich interior adorned with exquisite Renaissance artwork. The Chapel of St. Nicholas and the Resurrection are just a few examples of the stunning frescoes found within. Adjacent to Palazzo Comunale is Palazzo Ricchieri, adding to the historic charm of Pordenone.
Italy is very famous for its churches. This beautiful church is one of them. It is a very peaceful and relaxing place and what to say about the workmanship! Wherever you look, you get to see amazing workmanship that just blows your mind. Its beauty forces you to concentrate on yourself. So that your mind is forced to spend more and more time here. If you are a tourist then according to me you would have rarely seen such magnificent churches as in Italy.

Beautiful duomo, second most beautiful church interior in Friuli in my personal opinion, after Aquileia basilica. Pordenone doesnt offer much in terms of tourist attractions, but this church is a highlight and big surprise. Amazing side altars and mosaics in various cathedral sections.

The Silvia Zenari Civic Museum of Natural History, located next to the Town Hall in Pordenone, is housed in the historic Palazzo Ricchieri. The museum features well-curated displays and a clean, tidy environment that is perfect for a leisurely visit of about 1.5 hours. Visitors appreciate the accessibility of exhibits for children and the ongoing addition of new specimens. The staff is known for their warm hospitality and willingness to share intriguing anecdotes about the museum's history and collections.
Small and cheap natural history museum. We spent a lot of time in the mineral and bug rooms and we were in the museum for about an hour. The exhibits are only presented in Italian but google translate handled it well.

Great museum, which has well thought out displays presented in a beautiful manner. The facilities are neat, tidy, and very clean. It's also a perfect size. It's not too big, and not too small. Allow about 1.5 hours to see everything properly. It was a great experience, particularly on a wet cold day!

Especially wonderful for small children as the glass shelves start from floor level and most of the taxidermy animals are on the floor without a fence around them. Lots of specimen and I have kept coming over the years as there is always something new to be found.

Art Museums
The Museo Civico d'Arte, inaugurated in October 1972, houses civic collections and artworks donated by various collectors and artists. The museum showcases a wide range of art including drawings, frescoes, sculptures, furniture, goldsmith objects, and ceramics dating from the Middle Ages to the present day. Visitors can also enjoy annual art exhibitions. It is described as a small but emotionally rich museum featuring works by renowned artists such as Pordenone and Michelangelo Grigoletti.
We took our preschoolers to this museum and were guided by Ms. Anna. Our workshop consisted of looking for emotions in various portraits and noticing details like half-smiles, arched eyebrows and blushed cheeks and nose. A statue of Icarus led to a discussion regarding his glorious flight near the sun and descent to the sea. I was amazed to see how the children were able to imitate graceful poses of a prisoner breaking free of his chains and facial grimaces. A follow-up activity of observing our faces through different emotions using mirrors allowed the children to sketch their faces on transparent acetate sheets for a project at LEARN bilingual School. Two hours flew by and we enjoyed the visit immensely. A big thank you to the staff of this museum and the patience shown to our youngsters this morning!

(Translated by Google) Situated in the centre, in front of the splendid Town Hall, it preserves a beautiful series of paintings by the sixteenth-century artist known as "il Pordenone" and others from the same period. On the second floor there are wooden, plaster and marble statues of the Madonna and Child. Workshops for children are periodically organized in a dedicated room on the first floor, also based on the presentation of the 104 medieval wooden tablets decorated, almost like comics, with mythological, adventure, love and daily life scenes. Free entry under 18 years. 3 euros for adults. Ingresso gratuito sotto i 18 anni. 3 euro per gli adulti.

(Translated by Google) First time, and definitely not the last. Visited for an orchestra and piano concert (Beethoven), excellent acoustics in my opinion. Plus, two very kind and fast ladies at the bar. The staff, overall, was attentive. Perhaps the only drawback, for those with long legs and choosing a gallery seat, is the limited space between the seats. And still in the gallery, for those choosing the front row, the glass balustrade is a visual obstacle. Personale, in generale, attento.

The Pordenone Blues Festival is a highlight of the summer music scene, attracting blues enthusiasts from near and far. This vibrant festival has hosted an impressive lineup of artists, including renowned names like Anastacia, Level 42, and Steve Winwood. Set against the backdrop of a charming city that embraces cultural events year-round, it offers not just great music but also a chance to explore other festivals such as Dedica Festival and Pordenonelegge.
Great location, second year I've been to this festival, this year the Pacebo concert well organizzed with food stalla maybe to improve the drinking facilities.
Roger S — Google review
One star because I can’t give 0 to anything involving Alice Cooper. The concert had a terrible organisation, at least the night I went. Maybe the other events were not as big and that’s why this happened. To resume: - Only 7/8 portable toilets for over 5000 people? (Let’s not speak about the women’s dirty hygiene pads lying around even before the concert even started) - Trash cans overfilled with trash – Is it that difficult to empty them and put some new bags? - Mosquito invasion – but I understand this is more a problem of the location. - The pit is quite terrible. Usually I never buy those because I’m against the whole concept of “pits” but was afraid I would maybe not be able to see Alice again so took the leap this time (4th seeing him). - Last but not least (worst thing): 30+ minutes queues to get something to drink. That is really extreme, never saw something like this at ANY concert/festival I went to and I went to rather a lot and in different countries counting: Italy, Luxembourg, England, Slovenia, Spain and Germany. It would as well be advisable to give out some FREE water (or at least have water points) when the temperatures are this high and not make people wait in (the beer) line with the hope of them not collapsing.

Osteria Al Cavaliere Perso is a welcoming eatery where amiable individuals whip up delectable cuisine. Their pasta dishes and meat cuts are excellent, and they provide a pleasant outdoor seating area. It comes highly recommended for those visiting the town, showcasing delightful pictures of their offerings. The food is truly fantastic, complemented by an impressive assortment of wines. Although limited English availability adds to its authenticity, it may pose a challenge for some guests.
Amazing food and presentation, a true gem on the heart of Pordenone. The salmon tartar and the prawns in savour an ancient Venetian style dressing with onion absolutely delicious. Also the bianco sesto wine from La Tunella unforgettable…. Can’t wait to get back!!

Food is ok but nothing special. Got their gnocchi and while the dumplings were good the sauce had a weird acid after taste with the bacon to the point sauce tasted spoiled. Got their tartare with the egg topping and was good and well balanced that save the whole meal. My guests weren’t excited as well about the food but the experience was not bad. Service was attentive and fast despite bringing the same course at different timing leaving the guests to wait before start to eat. Worth the stop.

The Castle of Torre, dating back to the Middle Ages and built on the grounds of a Roman villa complex, boasts a rich history. The oldest section is a sturdy square tower believed to have been constructed in the latter half of the 13th century. Originally managed by the lords of Prata, this 12th-century castle was erected by the royal Ragogna family. Despite its historical significance, it remains relatively undiscovered by tourists.
Great view. A nice place to enjoy sunrise or sunset

A very nice small palace that has been turned into an archeology museum of the greater surrounding area. You can learn about human progress in northern Italy while enjoying the architecture and some remaining features of the old palace. For three euros it's well worth the trip and the garden is quite nice.

This year I found the fair less exciting than previous years. It seemed to have a lot less vendors and a lot less variety. I was very upset that some vendors in the food area were very rude. One assumed my friend did not understand Italian because she and I were speaking English and when she declined a sample he said very insulting things about her to his fellow vendor in Italian which we both understood. I recently visited the Exhibition and Trade Centre for an event, and while my overall experience was decent, there were a few aspects that left me somewhat underwhelmed. Firstly, the venue itself is quite spacious and reasonably well-maintained. The areas are clean and organized, providing ample room for exhibitors and attendees to navigate. The layout is easy to follow, and signage was generally sufficient. However, I did find some areas to be lacking in terms of resting spaces, which made it challenging to take a break or relax during the event. The amenities such as restrooms were adequate, but the food options where woefully inadeguate, running out of food and beverages during the afternoon. In terms of accessibility, the Exhibition and Trade Centre is conveniently located with ample parking options nearby. The venue is easily accessible by public transportation, making it convenient for attendees from various locations. While my visit was satisfactory overall, I believe there is room for improvement to elevate the experience. With some updates to the facilities, a better ticket boot (only one POS available, shared between two cashiers? In 2023?), this venue has the potential to become a standout destination for exhibitions and trade shows.

(Translated by Google) Built in 1991 and officially opened to the public in 1995, the Diocesan Museum of Sacred Art is located in Pordenone at the Pastoral Activities Center, designed by the architect Othmar Barth in 1988. Organized with originality and at the same time with formal rigor, they can be admired the various nuclei concerning frescoes and sinopies, paintings on wood and canvas, glass, wooden and stone sculptures, silverware, drawings and prints, liturgical vestments. The particular nature of the Museum has led to following a dual arrangement; by subject (arranged chronologically) and by destination, making room for the testimonies of sacramental practice and devotionality. In the composition of paintings, statuary, furnishings and various furnishings from the 7th century to the contemporary age, the result of artists of various caliber (from the sculptors Alvise Casella, Giovanni Martini, Orazio Marinali, to the painters Pomponio Amalteo, Francesco Guardi, Nicola Grassi, Gianfrancesco da Tolmezzo, Michelangelo Grigoletti and others) an attempt was made to favor evidence of local provenance, using neighboring geographical areas in order to fill any iconographic gaps. The result of ancient deposits, donations or trust, the Museum offers its collections displayed in a clear and elegant way. The collections The entrance offers a sampling of the materials on display: a Madonna and Child in alabaster (early 16th century) stands out, reproducing the simulacrum of the Madonna of Trapani and a Vesperbild by a Friulian-Veneto master from the 15th century. XV-XVI. In the raised room or mezzanine there are sinopias and frescoes from San Pietro di Cordenons (two heads of Romanesque ancestry from ca. 1260), Maniago, Maniagolibero, Pordenone-San Marco (fragments of the cycle of Santa Dorotea, ca. 1340), Castello of Aviano (fresco by Gianfrancesco da Tolmezzo, ca. 1507) attesting to the richness of the decorative detail of the buildings of worship and the statuary represented by more than thirty pieces, the result of Friulian, Venetian, Sicilian, German and French workers. On the lower floor there is painting on canvas and panel which includes texts from the Venetian and Friulian areas curated by masters such as Giovanni Maria Calderari, Palma il Giovane, Antonio Carneo, Andrea Celesti, Gaspare Diziani, Pietro Longhi, Francesco Guardi; followed by examples of popular devotion, silverware (the splendid processional cross by Giacomo de Grandis, 1548 is notable), fabrics (the sumptuous cope of Bagnarola, mid-19th century is notable) and coins. In the room below there are architectural drawings and models as well as some sacred bronzes. The collection of drawings and prints is preserved separately, while a room in the Episcopal Seminary has been equipped for the vestments together with a textile restoration laboratory. The origin of much of the material is from the parishes where it lay abandoned; Added to this are purchases, donations and some long-term deposits by organizations and private individuals. The aim of the collections is to document the cultic practice and devotion of the Christian communities in the territory of the diocese of Concordia-Pordenone. Preserve documents of art and faith by recovering them, when possible, from dispersion or substituting them with specimens of different origins for the purposes of a more complete picture of the typologies; make people understand the meaning, liturgical practice and artistic values; welcoming the forms of modernity with a view not restricted to the past, but also not uncritically aimed at the new: this is the aim pursued by the Diocesan Museum. To view the historical-artistic data sheets relating to most of the works exhibited in the Museum, you can consult the diocesan website; those relating to prints and coins are available in the Sirpac catalog of the Regional Center for Cataloging and Restoration of Cultural Heritage of Villa Manin in Passariano (Udine).

Palazzo Varmo-Pomo, also known as the Casa dei Capitani, is a stunning architectural gem located on Corso Vittorio Emanuele II in Pordenone. This historic building serves as the Civic Museum of Art and boasts an impressive medieval construction that dates back to before 1318. Its facade is adorned with intricate "false tapestry" designs and features three prominent shield-shaped coats of arms, including one representing the noble family of San Daniele di Varmo.
I am in love with this place!

(Translated by Google) One of the most beautiful buildings in the high society of Pordenone. Also called "Casa del Lanzo" due to the fresco of a soldier in Nordic style who "supports" the fireplace on the right side and which represents a lansquenet, or one of the German soldiers, active in Italy since the 14th century. Of very clear medieval construction, some internal elements suggest that it was built before 1318. The exterior, in perfect 1300/1400 style, is decorated with lozenges to give the effect of tapestry. It was not the residence of the city captains who resided in the castle or in the building next door destroyed by a bombing on 12/28/1944. The three mullioned windows on the first floor and the lobed arch windows on the second are splendid. On the facade there are three coats of arms on the right, that of the Varmo family of San Daniele. On the left the coat of arms of the Tyrolean Baumkirken family which had interests in Pordenone and Friuli and was linked to the Habsburgs, to whom the central coat of arms belongs.

(Translated by Google) Beautiful neo-Gothic church, also with more contemporary styles, with three naves elevated to the dignity of a sanctuary and guarded by the Benedictine Vallombrosan monks. It was born on the site of a seventeenth-century apparition of the Madonna, a miracle that attracted many faithful around the image of Mary who allowed its first construction in 1626 with their offerings. At the end of the 19th century, the current, much larger church was built, leaving the old one in part. Next door is the active oratory with numerous initiatives. Big celebration on September 8th, patron saint's day. If you found the review useful, please click on the hand, thank you. Very friendly staff! An interesting museum for anyone who loves comics. Unfortunately, our kids weren't too impressed, simply because they didn't have access to most of the comics, but the place is certainly unique and worth it if you're a fan of this art!
Ivan O — Google review
An interesting visit for any comic enthusiast. But is it worth €11? It wasn't for me, let me explain. The idea is that it's interactive and you pull out drawers and panels that have comics or comic related content inside. It's okay, but I'm not sure I get what that has to do with comics. There is an audio guide that works with QR codes, (sometimes not) and often you manage to connect to the related audio content, it's just a slideshow with music. And for English speakers, beware that almost all audio is only in Italian (on occasion with English subtitles). So it's rather pointless to wear the speakers.

The Science Center Scientific Imaginary Pordenone is a great place to organize a birthday party, with staff who are commended for their patience and service. The interactive exhibits cater to middle school and early high school children, but younger kids can still have fun. Visitors recommend making use of the reservation system to fully enjoy the experience, which takes about 2-3 hours to see everything. The museum offers activities for both kids and adults, with helpful staff on hand.
Definitely worth a visit, even without kids. Make good use of the reservation system and book a time when the museum is empty, you will enjoy it fully. (Translated by Google) Palazzo Gregoris is a building in the Contrada Maggiore which dates back to the second half of the 17th century. The building with its rich stone decorations constitutes a splendid example of Venetian Renaissance style. Its imposing facade, made graceful by terraces and masks, stands out compared to the other buildings. It was supposedly designed to be part of the curtain of buildings on the Grand Canal. Due to issues of duties on materials or other reasons, its construction would then have been decided in Pordenone, where the stones had arrived in the meantime, waiting to be transported by river to the lagoon city. Today it has been the headquarters of the Workers' Mutual Aid and Education Society since 1889. On the main floor there is a very large hall, with wooden decorations, there are paintings representing sacred scenes from the Old and New Testaments, but also profane scenes relating to ancient history. It acts as the corner between two of the three main streets of the city, overlooking the central square and the heart of Pordenone. It gives the historic center an unmistakable Venetian spirit and is truly iconic and extremely harmonious. (Translated by Google) This beautiful column was missing on Google Maps. It is worth a look even if very little remains of the frescoes painted on the Tabernacle. Here is the transcription of the warning sign: "With a fourteenth-century layout, it had frescoes that were legible until the 1980s, executed in the mid-16th century, perhaps by Calderari and then heavily reworked. Once located in the widening of Beorchia (crossroads), today Piazza Duca D'Aosta, it guarded the road that went up from Via Torricella towards Cordenons. Popular opinion wants it to be built as a votive offering at the end of an epidemic. Today almost nothing exists of the ancient village, which took its name from the Colonna. Urban development forced it to migrate to its current site between 1927 and 1928. The reworked base supports the pillar which supports a tabernacle with five frescoed faces. On the top there is a ten-sided spire closed at the top by a copper cap on which rest a ball and an angel marking the wind". If you found the review useful, please click on the hand, thank you. (Original) Questa bella colonna mancava su Google Maps.
