Mines
Mines Bruoux is an underground complex of tunnels and galleries located in a 19th-century ocher mine. Guided tours are available, offering a fascinating glimpse into the history of the mines and their various uses, including the production of rubber, paint, and even mushrooms. With approximately 40km of old mines to explore, visitors can expect an exciting tour filled with true stories and legends spanning over 90 years.
Amazing tour! Our tour guide Valerie was fantastic, even though on their website they only have one English speaking tour, Valerie quickly adapted to the various nationalities of the group, and even spoke a bit in Italian for the Italian family visiting. The mines themselves are very impressive and worth seeing!
Maria B — Google review
IMO the most beautiful thing is the view from the city. I do not recommend to buy tickets and take the walk inside.
Sivan O — Google review
Tour in French was the only tour available though English is advertised on their website (only once at 12) without a very strong grasp of French the tour is a bit boring as the views in a dark cave are nice but not spectacular and most important to know, photography is not permitted inside the cave.
Anders B — Google review
Great visit with Marie everyone on the team and staff are kind and welcoming. Highly reccomend if you’re in the region !
D B — Google review
40km of the old mines. Exciting tour that will open eyes on the production of the rubber, paint and mushrooms. Yes yes, mushrooms. If your kids like Minecraft, they will enjoy it. Tons of true stories and legends that goes through the 90 years and beyond. The place is must visit during the very hot day to take an advantage of the 10-13 C stable degrees right inside the hill. The excursion will take around 1.5 hours. For a left handed person there is a special benefit :-) Go there to know, why :-)
Stanislav D — Google review
Fun site! Since it’s quite a bit cooler in the mine, it’s a great getaway from peak heat of day. The whole tour takes about an hour. Unfortunately, the English version of the tour on the iPad is definitely not comparable to the French-speaking tour guide. The tour guide spoke a lot more than the English explanation.
Trang B — Google review
Overrated. To much € for what you get. The mines are accually boring compared to the mines in Limburg The Netherlands, who are rich of history and the whole network under Maastricht. The WO II resistence used these network to help escape people. This tour is only in French and they treat people like children. You get a I-pad in your own language which is nice, however de guide explaination is to longwinded, repeats a lot. Half the price would be fair.
Yvonne T — Google review
It is good place to know the history of the ochre mine. Our guide,Mathilde, was very informative. She explained humorously and educationally how important the ochre in this region. It definitely worths a visit.

Awesome and easy visit to a seemingly epic castle. Great views on the village and Luberon. It’s easy to imagine how impressive the castle must’ve been.

Really calm with a wonderful view to the village. Not crowded and with easy access to walk around. The village is typical and out of tourist mass. Really nice and even better to have after the walk a drink in a local bar.
Miguel M — Google review
Beautiful little village with stunning views from the ruins. The ruins themselves also lead to the chapel.

The highlight of the village, a nice stroll to the top with a rewarding view above the Luderon
Barefoot C — Google review
Saint Saturnin is as beautiful and interesting as Gordes. The castle's ruins were the most interesting aspect of this visit.
Guillaume S — Google review
Interesting ruins tho church was closed.
John H — Google review
Park near the public swimming pool (empty) and walk up into the village. If you go on a Tuesday it’s market day (v nice.) when you find the little corner w restaurants take the uppermost road to the castle from there follow the green dots on the ground. This is a fantastic find. Wander about over this large ruin as long as you want. Gorgeous ruins. At the top is a church consecrated in about 1050, but on a map from about 900AD. it’s locked btw. You can cross the empty reservoir and go to the windmill but it’s closed except for Sundays in July/Aug and idk if it works. If you want to take a picnic there’s a table across the bridge and up the hills under the pine trees which smell gorgeous. The walk is steep but if you can go up and down stairs a few times and own sneakers you should go for it bc the view is better than Rousillon or Bonnieux.

Great views on Luberon, awesome geological feature! If you are without a car, I would look for the bus line from Apt.
Jesse R — Google review
Great for a weekend trip. Worth visiting especially that it was free and the view was stunning. There is a climb up which some of the people might find scary (it’s like a stairs over the cliffs edge) but worth the walk!
Jakub J — Google review
So beautiful and charming, everywhere you turn! Like a fairytale. I stumbled upon this village after visiting the lavender fields and being intrigued about the village at the top of the cliff. Wandering around on a Saturday afternoon was one of the loveliest experiences I’ve ever had in France. I read up on the cathedral afterwards and it has been a stopping point for pilgrims since the Middle Ages, just incredible. If you are in the area, don’t miss it!

Cathédrale Sainte-Anne, built in 1052 and modified over the centuries, is one of the oldest churches in Provence. It is also the oldest church in the Western world dedicated to the mother of the Virgin Mary. The cathedral's Romanesque architecture features a copper dome and a golden virgin on top. Inside, there is a mix of sober and baroque elements, with a closed chapel dedicated to St. Anne on the left side.
À lost treasure in a town that seems to have hit hard times
Jc F — Google review
Like most buildings dating back to the 12-14th century in the area, the cathedral is a poor condition. The main body and the art work is undergoing a much needed restoration. In the meantime, religious offices take place in the side chapel, which can get crowded on important days of the Christian calendar.
Romain T — Google review
Lively cathedral with formidable architecture and impressive paintings. It sits at the center of Apt and is worth visiting when in the region.

(Translated by Google) Visiting with a guide is a real advantage (lots of reading on the signs) and if you also have the opportunity to go into the field (to visit an ocher mine or see an earthenware maker at work) it's is even better! The candied fruits of Apt date back several centuries and we have no idea how many different machines had to be used (they are all on display) to candied them. The fine earthenware will amaze you. Ideal for schools. Small town but “big” museum. Château de Mille, located 8.5 km north east of Bonnieux, is a historic winery dating back to the 13th century. The property has recently undergone renovations with great attention to detail and care, including the transition to organic farming under new ownership. Visitors can stay in one of the charming Gites and explore the beautifully restored grounds that include a 14th-century fort ruin once visited by Popes from Avignon.
A one of a kind experience! Great wines, friendly and knowledgeable staff, and absolutely gorgeous grounds. Once you pass the wooden barrel at the entrance and glide by the vineyard’s rolling hills , you’re greeted by a magnificent chateau steeped in history and surrounded by the stunning scenery of Provence. In addition to the wine tasting, I highly recommend doing one of the tours to learn more about the fascinating history of the place. A true gem! The perfect place to try some local wine and soak in the magic of the Luberon.

Just absolutely gorgeous! The wine was amazing, the owners so friendly, the staff knowledgeable and friendly and we loved our tour of the facility. Their interest in art and the preserving the beautiful history of the place only adds to the stunning quality of the wine. I wish I would have taken more pictures, but I was too busy enjoying! I'm having wine shipped home! There are some very special wines in the Luberon and this is a great place to experience them.

Visiting Château de Mille was an unforgettable experience. The drive in alone is mesmerizing — winding through the vineyard with incredible views of the countryside. The integration of the modern winery into the beautifully preserved 13th-century castle is simply astonishing. We happened to stop in unannounced, and Pierre welcomed us like old friends. He explained the free self-guided tour of the grounds and castle, which was both fascinating and fun to explore. Afterwards, he treated us to a tasting of their most popular wines — from crisp whites to refreshing rosés to bold reds. Every wine was excellent; we ended up buying a case of six (we would have taken more if we weren’t flying back to the States!). Pierre is studying to build a career in the wine and spirits business, but he already conducts himself like a seasoned professional. We wish him the very best. If you’re in the region, Château de Mille is an absolute must-visit!

A brilliant way to see Provence, beetling about in 'Dolly' the 2CV! We heard about La Deuche France from a local resident of Apt, and contracted Sofie – who is not only brilliant and charming, but incredibly patient at explaining the ins and outs of this iconic French car. The soft top rolled down, we drove along winding roads amidst vines and fruit trees to picnic in a field (Sofie had given us some pointers on where to pick up great cheese and wine). A glorious couple of days! Highly recommended

Château Saint Pons is a hidden gem for wine enthusiasts and those seeking a delightful escape in the heart of Provence. This enchanting estate offers visitors an immersive experience into the world of local wines, with William passionately sharing insights about the terroir and his winemaking philosophy. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it an ideal spot to gather with friends, family, or clients.
We had a lovely picnic at the Chateau Saint Pons. First we explored the estate, including lovely views of Saint Saturnin and Villars. Then we had a table set for the two of us among the grape vines, with a refreshing wine from the vineyard and a wonderful assortment of very local foods. So with a lovely view in front of us, we enjoyed local olives, cherries, cheese, and more (more that we could eat without needing to lie down afterwards!). Overall, a wonderful couple of hours in a lovely place that we will certainly come back to when we are in the area again.

Best vineyard for wine tasting so far in our 3 days in le Luberon. Authentic and non pretentious. We started off with a stroll in the vineyard to see the different grapes they are growing. We were only able to taste 3 wines because we got there too late before closing. But you are allowed to taste 10 wines for free. All the wines we tasted were great and we ended up buying 2/3. The prices are very reasonable as well. Highly recommended!
Wai L — Google review
We had a lovely 2 weeks at Gite Chateau St. Pons. The accomodation is very well appointed and comfortable, situated next to, but separate from, the main house giving privacy. You are surrounded by vines, local wildlife (including daily visits from the hens!) and fantactic views down the valley. The wines are great and the Monin family 'tres amicable'. Pool is small but great to cool off in. Only small point is no air conditioning - if this was available for bedroom it would be perfect - otherwise bring or buy fans! Great base for visiting all the lovely hilltop towns too. Hope to return one day!

From start to finish, we were so impressed with the vineyard tour at Chateau Saint Pons. William was brilliant at not only answering all our questions but also put on an incredible spread after the tour and tasting. Could not recommend this vineyard more and want to thank William again for an amazing afternoon.

Chateau Saint Pons is a wonderful place to come to explore the grapes and wines of the region. I regularly bring friends, family and clients here for a complete wine experience. William takes the time to explain the terroir and his approach to making wine. The atmosphere is very lovely and the wines are delightful. There are also many activities that can be worked into your visit (aroma workshop, picnic) which makes this a fun activity to highlight your day.
