Verdon Gorge is a stunning river canyon with white-water rapids, offering a trail to a viewing deck for breathtaking views. It also provides family campsites in the Provencal hinterland near Lake Sainte-Croix. The area boasts modern facilities and premium services, including an aquatic area with swimming pool. Visitors can enjoy water activities like water-skiing off the Giens peninsula and rafting in the Verdon Gorge.
Mesmerizing nature! The most turquoise water I’ve ever seen! Such a beautiful place for kayaking and enjoying dips in the water!

1. One of the most impressive places in Provence - the grandeur of nature is amazing. 2. The blue water of the Verdon and high cliffs create a truly magical picture. 3. Here you can walk, ride a boat or kayak. 4. A great place for photos and meditation in nature. 5. Definitely worth a visit - the views remain in your heart for a long time.

Some people's pictures are not of the Gorge they are of the lake at the bottom 30 minutes away. Just look at the geography of the land of you aren't sure. There is no lake. The pin poin is actually the very top. Please see my pictures for actual Verdon Gorge.

A must see if you are anywhere near the area. We drove 2 hours and it was completely worth it. We hired a pedalo near the mouth at Lac De Sainte Croix and pedalled up, it was the perfect way to see the canyon. Simply breathtaking, gorgeous natural beauty.

Stunning. There are no other words to describe it. It is one of the most beautiful places on this planet.

Breathtaking scenery and an unforgettable experience! We had an amazing time at Gorges du Verdon. The views are absolutely stunning—the water is a perfect turquoise, and the surrounding cliffs make it feel like something out of a postcard. We rented a paddle boat and explored deep into the canyon, but there are also kayaks and electric boats available if you prefer. The water was refreshing and perfect for a swim, and if you’re feeling adventurous, there are plenty of rocks to jump off of for a bit of extra fun. We went in the morning, which I highly recommend to avoid crowds and enjoy the calm atmosphere. The rental process was quick, with hardly any waiting, but make sure to bring an ID or driver’s license—it’s required to rent equipment. The staff were friendly, and the boats were in good condition. The price was very fair for the time we had on the water. There are also nearby cafes, restrooms, and parking, making it easy to spend a half or full day here. Whether you want a peaceful paddle, a swim in crystal-clear water, or a bit of cliff-jumping adventure, Gorges du Verdon is an absolute must-visit.

Mountain peak
The Cadières de Brandis, a towering formation of pale rocks adorned with lush greenery, overlooks the Verdon Valley. It can be explored through various hiking trails that weave through the forest and rocky terrain. The hike offers a pleasant experience surrounded by blooming flowers and captivating scents, creating an atmosphere of absolute tranquility. At the summit, one is rewarded with a breathtaking panoramic view. The duration of the hike is approximately three hours, including breaks for rest and contemplation.
Very exciting place! Don't miss it 😃

Apparently, you should start your route at Camping des Sirènes. From there, go up and do a loop. I didn't , and can't recommend my route ;)

(Translated by Google) A hike that is not easy for people who are not used to walking!! The climb on the forest side is done rather well with breaks, but the descent is complicated: the path is among rocks, not at all secure, when you have passed this big descent it is straight on a significant slope and rather slippery in small gravel! Not very pleasant, descent that hurts your knees!! The panorama is incredible of course, but still a disappointment because our guide did not indicate that we had to turn away from the marked trail to see THE famous view of the hike!!! Positive result because the landscape is worth it despite the disappointments of this hike...

Le Roc au Serre and the chapel Notre-Dame du Roc is a must-visit destination in Castellane, offering breathtaking views and a charming chapel perched atop the rock. The hike up the Chemin du Roc to the chapel provides amazing panoramic views and is worth the effort for any fit and capable walker. Families with young children can also create unforgettable memories by exploring Castellane with Les Anes du Verdon, who offer donkey crossings.
An amazing place. If you are ever close to Castellane an can set aside at least one day the town is worth a visit. If you are fit enough, capable of walking at least 2 miles with a steep gradient most of the way the walk up the Chemin du Roc to the Chapelle Notre Dame du Roc has some amazing views in all directions, once at the top the views are awesome. To top it all is a beautiful chapel perched atop the rock. Very much worth the effort.

A very rocky climb to the top but well worth it.Various bench's on route to catch your breath.Once at the top the views are spectacular.Popped into the church and rang the bell...love it
Daz — Google review
It is a small charming church on the top of the Roc mountain in the heart of Castallon village. From the first sight it seems like the mountain is too steep to climb, but indeed there are two not difficult at all trails, leading to the church and the panoramic viewpoint over the village. I took the Chemin du Croix (Christ Path) from the village center. To come back if you need to take another path, take right side on the crossing, it will lead you through the splendid view over the Notre Dame du Roc and the Old Tower. There is no accessible way to the church though, only hiking one. Inside of the church one will find lots of gratitudes from 18th century and till nowadays. Very touching.
Valentyna P — Google review
the view is great.it is a 40 minutes walk from the center of Castellane.Make sure you get some water and a camera with you.The Chapelle is very interesting as well.they are restoring it since 1880.but it is part of a greter Castle that used to be in the area. if you visit Castellane , going up there is totally recommended !!!

There are several paths up to this amazing chapel. The longer one is the less steep and strenuous . It’s well worth the effort.

Located near the charming town of Castellane and the breathtaking Lac de Castillon, this campsite is an outdoor enthusiast's dream. With its own adventure park featuring a rope course and zipline, as well as a delightful swimming paradise, there's no shortage of activities to enjoy. Guests rave about their experiences in cozy cabins that are modern and well-maintained.
An excellent 10 days in one of their cabins. The staff are really friendly and all speak English which a bonus. The pool is great and surprisingly warm however I think it might get a bit busy in high season. The cabin we had was great, modern and well cared for. It is steep terraced site, so walking up the hill for bread in the morning was a challenge for me in me in my 70's but doable, if I did need a few minutes before talking to the shop assistant. Ideally located for the French Alps and the coast even if were disappointed with Cannes. Castellane is a lovely little town with everything you need. The highlight of this area is the scenery which is outstanding

I stayed 8 nights during the Christmas period of 2024 and had a brillian time. The cottages are clean and everything works flawless. The owner speaks perfectly English as well as French (which I don't) and does the extra step to make your stay comfortable. A great host so to say. Nestled in the serene landscape, Lac de Chaudanne is a stunning artificial lake that offers a tranquil escape for nature lovers. While swimming is off-limits due to its dam, this peaceful spot is a haven for fishing enthusiasts eager to catch pike and pike-perch. The calm waters invite visitors to enjoy leisurely picnics along the shore, making it an ideal place to unwind. With its captivating blue hues and picturesque surroundings, many find themselves drawn back time and again.
Some very big beautiful scaley carp to fish for in this stunning water.. Be prepared for a bit of hard work and to walk long distances on some very tricky terrain in parts.. when you find where the fish are held up they can be caught pretty easily... Massive shoals constantly patrolling the margins searching for their next feast, Move after every other fish and keep a good quality bait going in, I'd come to the conclusion they have never seen a good quality bait and not use to eating a high protein food source at all.. once they come across a bed of bait they can't resist.. But once one or two are hooked they spook off, very shy and clued up fish.. Best Angling around autumn time September onwards ready for winter

The setting is pleasant, even though the restaurant is located next to the road; honestly, it's not disturbing at all. The service was impeccable: our dishes arrived very quickly. (Translated by Google) The pizzas are expensive, very thin and sparsely topped. The lasagna is also average and lacking in flavor. It's not a bad restaurant, but it lacks generosity and character. You can dine there without it leaving a lasting impression. A friend wanted to replace the chicken in the salad with goat cheese, which cost €1 more... FYI: the restaurant doesn't accept meal vouchers or holiday vouchers...

Nestled away from the well-trodden paths, the Dolmen des Pierres Blanches offers an intriguing adventure for those willing to venture off the beaten track. To reach this remarkable megalithic structure, a bit of off-piste exploration is necessary, requiring you to navigate through some dense vegetation for a short distance. However, this small detour during your hike is undoubtedly rewarding. The dolmen itself stands in pristine condition, seemingly preserved by nature's elements over time.
(Translated by Google) There is no path to get there. A little off-piste is required (a few tens of meters in the vegetation). This little detour, during a hike, is worth it. The dolmen is in perfect condition. As if it were constantly washed by the rains. (Original) Il n'y a pas de chemin pour y accéder. Un peu de hors piste s'impose (quelques dizaines de mètres dans la végétation). Ce petit détour, lors d'une randonnée, vaut le coup. Le dolmen est en parfait état. Musée des Citroën - Citromuseum is a must-visit for car enthusiasts and those interested in the history of the Citroen brand. The museum boasts a superb collection of nearly 100 original Citroen cars, with detailed information about their technical specifications and histories provided in three languages. Visitors are impressed by the clear and precise explanations given by the museum owner, making it an enriching experience even for those not particularly fond of the brand.
A must see for all Citroën-Lovers. No over-restored extra shiny showroom cars. But perfectly kept cars with low milage. And a number of real highlights!
Stef — Google review
Gorgeous collection of Citroëns including several very special ones, but even better: every car has a story. This is a private museum owned and set up by a passionate Citroën lover, who welcomed us personally with a short explanation of how the museum has grown. To talk to him alone made our visit worthwhile, but the collection is really impressive and includes some absolutely unique models (the earliest known DS in existence, the last CX to come from the production line, the frame no. 2 HY etc.). Just go and visit, if you have even the smallest passion for French cars, and especially Citroën, you won't be disappointed.
Gerard U — Google review
A must see for Citroen fans, wonderful collection, vehicles in exceptional condition..fantastic place!!

Nice collection. Lot of the cars with very low milage and all of the cars in original, good, used condition, not restored. Behind the till was the owner. Friendly and can listen many story of the cars if you want. He's speak english too. Has a little gift shop as well. I think the smaller models little bit expensive compare the biger sizes, therefore I bought for my son a HY van, in a big size. Just better deal. If you not too far from, I think it's worth to visit. Meanwhile, 8 minutes drive from there is a huge dam and the colour of the water amazing.

History Museums
The Museo de la Resistencia exceeds expectations with its extensive range of information and exhibits. The display maintains an unbiased approach, showcasing newspaper clippings, letters, and propaganda alongside the artifacts to provide necessary context. From military equipment to encryption machines, the museum offers a diverse collection that is well-preserved for a private exhibition. Run by passionate enthusiasts, this small museum cleverly presents a wealth of memorabilia for visitors to explore.
Well presented exhibits introduce people in the resistance and the techniques used. You will see many photos, communications gear, weapons, sabotage gear, and memorabilia. Captions are in French, but there's an English booklet. Admission is €5 age 12 and up. Summer hours are daily 0900-1900.

We visited with 2 kids who are very interested in WW2. The museum is quite small but is packed with memorabilia, as well as a cute little cinema room. It's a good place to cool off in summer, and a handy pit stop while exploring the pre-Alps

Loads of real memorabilia, equipment and documents. It's a bit rough and ready, but definitely worth a visit
Paul C — Google review
Much more comprehensive than we expected. There is a lot of information and many exhibit pieces to see. Everything is presented in a very impartial way, which is a plus considering the topic. Newspaper clippings, letters and propaganda leaflets accompany the exhibit pieces, so some knowledge of the events helps to put them into context. There is a bit of everything, from soldier equipment to encryption machines used in the war. A few exhibits had missing lightning, but overall it was well preserved for a private exhibition.

Nice mountain road for family with children 6-7 yo. Amazing view. Not so far from Castellane (7-10 min by car), parking place in the beginning of the road. And fossils at end of the road.

Start your walk at the parking lot . It can be full there. No shadow. Next to a camping area with a similar name. There is also a bar on the col. Remember that for after your walk. You follow the yellow arrows to the sireniens site. It goes up going there. And then spoilers ahead. There are bones in rock of seacows. Old bones. Old rocks. Then you go back to your car. 4ish km walk. Take water with you.

These are exquisite fossilized bones of prehistoric sea cows, roughly 35 million years old. How cool to see them well protected in situ where they found them. It is a 45 min. walk from the carpark at the trail head next to the Sirenes campsite.
