Points of Interest & Landmarks
María Cristina Park is a serene urban green space that offers a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. The park features a variety of plants, including palms, horse chestnuts, acacias, cedars, and pines, creating a picturesque setting for leisurely strolls and relaxation. In addition to its lush flora, the park also boasts colorful flower patches and small water features that add to its charm.
Beautiful park, very serene and shady despite the hot summer heat. The adjacent playground for kids is also well maintained with a lot of benches for parents to sit.
Ashley G — Google review
Algeciras, Parque Maria Cristina, beautiful little park, well maintained, the green lung of the city. It is one of the oldest parks in the city, established in 1834.
Csaba B — Google review
Pleasant park recently renovated. Last month, it was still impossible to get in because of the construction site around it. It's much cooler and breezier here than in the rest of Algeciras
Iris V — Google review
Such a lovely place to be in when you find yourself in a city that is busy, noisy and suffering from the aftermath of COVID. This park has tall trees providing shade, clean wide paths for a stroll, plenty of ornate benches for a rest or nap, lovely water fountains that work, flower patches everywhere giving colour and smell and at the bottom a well maintained playground and outdoor exercise equipment. Being situated on a old Moorish Bath House Site, there are exhibits of its history. Also has public toilets which were clean and the building did look in keeping with the gardens.
Robert A — Google review
A very nice place to walk around Algeciras. Can relax with public seats.

A beautiful pearl in the south of Spain - Algeciras. Def worth a visit and hang out in the old part of the town with great café’s and old style architecture. People are very friendly and easy to talk with.

If you want to take a walk with your kids, family or better half, this place is a good spot. Its quiet within but near the entrances are coffee shops where refreshments are available.

Water park
Water & Amusement Parks
Bahia Park is a sprawling water park in Algeciras, Spain, offering over 45,000 square meters of tropical fun. The park features a vast array of attractions suitable for all ages, including waterslides like Great Niagara and Kamikaze, as well as pools and a jacuzzi. Families can enjoy the large children's area while surrounded by lush greenery.
Bahia Park isn’t the largest water park out there, but it packs a refreshing punch. With multiple themed zones—including a splash playground perfect for small children and several slides that even adults will enjoy—it’s easy to spend an entire day here without running out of things to do. The atmosphere is lively, the layout manageable, and most importantly, the kids absolutely love it.
Laimonas G — Google review
First the good things. The employees are quite friendly and are very attentive to people's safety. The park is very near the water park and it was easy to find a place. Beside that there is a good choice of slides but from the moment you enter starts the "surprises" Pay 8 euros for a little hay umbrella!? You must be joking! Pay 12 euros for a double buoy because most of the attractions demand it? Thats just greedy! I didn't see that on the site. If that's mandatory include that on the price and stop deceiving people, thats not nice at all!
Manuel T — Google review
We had an amazing day at Bahía Park with our family, including three kids! The aquatic park exceeded our expectations with its wide range of water rides and attractions suitable for all ages. The refreshing swimming pools and water activities kept everyone entertained. *Highlights:* - *Variety of Rides*: From thrilling water slides to relaxing areas, there's something for everyone. - *Kid-Friendly*: The park has a dedicated zone for younger kids, making it an ideal spot for families. - *Scenic Views*: The park's lush green areas and water features create a beautiful backdrop for a fun-filled day. - *Convenient Parking*: Ample parking space is available, and it's free! *Minor Improvements:* - Some visitors mentioned that the food options could be improved, and prices for amenities like sun loungers and umbrellas might be steep for some. *Overall Experience:* We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Bahía Park and would highly recommend it to families and thrill-seekers alike. With its diverse attractions and beautiful setting, it's a great way to spend a summer day ¹.
Thami B — Google review
The park is nice and clean, well kept. Yet, a bad accident was going to happen today where there are two attractions where people fall into the water. One of the attractions (number 1 in photo) has people silding while hanging from a metal rope and it is safe. This attraction requires the attention of the ONLY employee watching over the two attractions as he must help people to start hanging. The other close attraction (number 2) have people hanging from rings while they try to move at the most of their skills untill they fall into the water, unpredictably. This attraction is not well watched and it does not require to assist the customer to let them start. It should follow the MANDATORY rule that no customer should start their exercise untill the previous player is out of the water. Instead, today a 9 year old kid was still in the water while a big teenager (50-60 kg) fell into the water missing the younger kid’s back for few centimeters. This lack of safety may transform a happy kid in a kid trapped in a wheel chair. It is not admissibile. We made a complaint with a security guy who apparently listened to us. Yet, it is necessary that the Park employs 2(two) guys if the Park wants to run 2(two) attractions. If you have any doubts about the unwatched game , two photos can make it clear. You can see that the only employee cannot supervise both the attractions. This complaints has to stay online, because arrangments must be made to avoid trasforming happy playing into surgeries ! Even if it is a good park, safety is safety.
ROSS C — Google review
We went in the kids school holidays and paid around €68 for 2 adults & 1 kid (my 12 month old was free and my other girl who is 4 in December got in for free because of her height which was good even though she went on a lot of the rides. I wouldn’t say there is much for an adult to do I’d say it’s more catered to teenagers and families, there’s no real big or scary or adrenaline rushing rides. The cost is quite a bit considering 2 kids were free, then you have to pay €8 for sun beds (mandatory because there is no where to lie on the floor) then also if you want pictures at the end of the day it’s €50 for “ALL photos” however it doesn’t tell you it’s only up to 3 different faces.. as a family of 5 it’s hard to not include 2 of your kids/family… think it’s a bit unfair as it was around €7 PER picture after that. The QR code system they use to “cleverly” recognise your face is a huge failure, the pictures we wanted didn’t even come through or get recognised, and we also got other people coming through ours seeing pictures of other peoples kids & familys, which made me very uneasy knowing this after I had my kids on the camera rides… Overall it was a good day out and you do spend the whole day there, I’d advise bringing a pic nic as food prices are ridiculous if you’re all eating as you can see prices on the picture. (July 2025). One thing to note; the wave pool was the most disappointing wave pool I’ve ever seen, it was barely a wave… very poor. Overall I’d go again but not buy the photos.

Without doubt the best water park I've ever been to. Had so many rides from easy to terrifying. Very nice staff and well laid out. We travelled on the bus from La Linea and it was a pretty easy journey. Wish it was nearer!
Guy H — Google review
Our visit was very pleasant. We had a great day. The park was very clean and well maintained
Horatiu B — Google review
We arrived early at 11 am and the park didn't open until 11.30. We were about 10th in the queue at that point. In hindsight, we didn't need to arrive that early. There were plenty of sunbeds available all day, with loads of space for families. The rides were all open, well managed and felt safe. The only thing that would have been better was clearer signage about whether you needed a ring for certain rides or not. My daughter trudged all the way up with the ring to find she couldn't use it on certain rides so had to bring it back to our spot by the sunbeds. We took a picnic and just topped up with ice creams bought from the park which were averagely priced. Overall, a great day out.

Shopping mall
El Corte Inglés offers a delightful dining experience at its cafeteria, where visitors can savor delicious dishes like the Corty sandwich and Caesar salad. The upstairs eatery comes highly recommended for its delectable offerings, making it a must-visit spot for those looking to enjoy a satisfying meal.
Only place in algesiras where i was able to get a mojito, also it was very well made, the taste was perfect, the good balance of sugar and alcool. If i would have known i would have gone there every day. Its in the bar in front of the shopping mall but its part of it, you get a view of the harbor and can also see gibraltar from it and can spot the english antenna on top of the rock.

Sport department: We were looking for basketball shoes for my son. The lady at the sport department was very helpful and service oriented. This was the best experience I have ever had in a sport shop. Book department Depending on the department you are at in Corte Ingles you get different treatment. Today I went to the book department and got a completely different service. The lady at the counter was very rude and unhappy to perform her job. At the beginning there were 4 ladies and suddenly she was alone and the service time was unacceptable. Plenty of people used tickets to get service but the waiting time was approx. 40 min. The lady commented that it was a kind of service you get 3rd January.

The Estatua de Paco de Lucía is a striking bronze sculpture honoring the legendary flamenco guitarist, Paco de Lucía. Situated near the bustling port of Algeciras, this masterpiece was crafted by sculptor Ignacio Falgueras. For fans of Francisco Gustavo Sánchez Gómez, also known as Paco de Lucía, a visit to this iconic statue is a must.
There's also a great wall mural at the car park of Playa del Rinconcillo
Gerhard G — Google review
For aficionados of Francisco Gustavo Sánchez Gómez, aka Paco de Lucía, the greatest modern flamenco guitarist. Algeciras is a big city, the port is massive, you have to park your car in a paid carpark, then walk toward the port. The statue is definitely not ideally placed for photographers. Unless you want to take the back of Paco, your photos will most probably be backlit. So, wait until sunset, or photoshop your souvenirs. Viva Paco.

The Algeciras Municipal Museum offers a captivating journey through the city's rich history, from its prehistoric culture to the modern-day Algeciras. Housed in a beautiful building, it showcases treasures dating back to Roman times and features temporary art exhibitions. Visitors can explore clean and well-maintained rooms while enjoying the friendly staff's hospitality. It is recommended as a must-visit destination for those interested in delving into the history of Algeciras.
Far bigger than you might think, some great exhibits of local interest , my favourite though is the artwork of Jose Roman Corzanego. It's all free of charge

(Translated by Google) We visited this museum a few years ago, which corresponds to the Historical-Archaeological section, which is located in the former Casa de los Guardeses headquarters, a 19th century building, next to the Acacias park. On the tour inside we were able to see the collection of archaeological pieces (they have been located in different sites in the city), the tour was interesting, as well as the different rooms in which the aforementioned pieces are found. The visit was interesting. (Translated by Google) I would not recommend visiting it, my experience was very bad. In addition to the officials telling me that photography is prohibited inside the museum, one of the employees followed me as if I were a thief. In one comical scene, she was standing outside the hallway I was in and looking at me from the corner of her eye from above, while holding the phone in her hand as if she were flipping through it (my visit was on Saturday. July 23, 2022 at approximately 12:30), not allowing photography is something that can be accepted at the level of application regulations before. The staff (of course it is neither acceptable nor understandable that such an order is issued by the administration that is the guardian of this sector) but tracking and listening to tourists is a disgusting and despicable act that can give a bad image of tourism in a country like Spain. We hope that the administration in charge of this sector reviews its decision to not allow visitors to take photographs inside museums. I also hope that the management of a museum…….give technical and technical courses regarding visitors and not betray or accuse them (…) and not eavesdrop on them and harass them.

Bar Casa Pepe is a charming tapas bar nestled in the heart of Algeciras, where you can unwind and savor traditional small plates that showcase the rich flavors of Mediterranean cuisine. The atmosphere here is warm and inviting, making it an ideal spot to enjoy a refreshing beer or a glass of wine with friends or family. Whether you're indulging in classic Spanish dishes or exploring new tastes, Bar Casa Pepe offers a delightful culinary experience that captures the essence of local dining culture.
We recently had lunch at a this relaxed tapas restaurant with a group of eight ladies, and it was a fantastic experience. Each of us chose different dishes, and every single one was delicious, showcasing exceptional quality and a wonderful variety. The staff were lovely and attentive, making our visit even more enjoyable. Drink prices so reasonable as well. We’ll definitely be returning and can highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for great tapas!

Made lovely and tasty memories here. Thank you so much to the team for making us feel welcome despite our non existing Spanish. Absolutely recommend.
Helena K — Google review
Great tapas place, there is a regular menu and daily specials tapas. We tried many different ones and liked all of them. The service is friendly and fast as well. The place is normally very busy, so I would recommend to come as early as possible after opening time to get a table and avoid waiting in a queue. 2021 Dec UPDATE: The bar moved to the different place, but very close to previous one. The interior is much more modern now, the food is very similar like before. Still can recommend to visit!
Laimonas G — Google review
Amazing tapas, friendly service, and very welcoming to the non-Spanish speaking crowd (aka us - though we can get by, it’s definitely not conversational Spanish). We had mostly daily specials, so I won’t list them here since they may or may not be available, but the Raviolis de langostinos (Shrimp Ravioli) from the regular menu was amazing!
Brian C — Google review
The restaurant is not in the city center but in a quite neighborhood, so you may need a car or something to get there. I inside there are around 10-11 tables but many waiters so your order will be picked up fast as the food. I have ordered the tapas, their specialty (beef covered by cheese with bbq sauce), patatas bravat, chickens wings and chicken croquet - everything was very good.

I absolutely loved dining here. Popular among locals, and every dish was delicious. Friendly (and accommodating) staff, copacetic atmosphere. If ever you find yourself in Algeciras, this is the place to dine.

Absolutely delicious!!! Great value!!! Exquisite gourmet tapas with great presentation at a very accessible price (actually, very low).

Fab little find, tucked away in the "real Spanish area" not on the tourist strip! We're not sure what we actually ordered (apart from the Steak) but we were presented with 5 traditional Tapas (which were great) then our Steak was served just cooked with a separate hot skillet to continue cooking to our preference - great Idea! Would definitely recommend (& next time maybe learn better Spanish so we know what we're ordering lol) Enjoy!!

Visitors can find a large selection of fresh fruits and vegetables every day except Sunday. The market is known for its affordable prices and friendly staff.
This is one of the most magnificent markets I've ever seen. The only problem is no one wanted me there. lol. They didn't like me. I tried to be friendly, but not one person smiled at me. (Translated by Google) Algeciras's Watcher: Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de la Palma C. Ventura Morón, 2, 11201 Algeciras, Cádiz In Algeciras, the sea breeze perpetually carries whispers of the Atlantic and Mediterranean, and Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de la Palma stands as the city's most silent listener. It's not as grand as Toledo Cathedral, nor as elaborate as Córdoba's Mosque. As you enter the old city, the first thing you see is its somewhat austere Baroque facade and its bell tower, installed only in 1807. It bears a hint of Moorish charm, reminiscent of Gibraltar, like a woman in an old Andalusian dress, a hairpin tucked into her temples, quietly standing in the center of the square. Every stone here bears witness to the city's two breaths. The first time, it lay dormant in the forgotten ruins of the Middle Ages; the second time, in the early 18th century, it was reborn here with the arrival of exiles from Gibraltar. Built in 1723, the church itself stands as a monument, marking the beginning of a resilient community. It has not witnessed a millennium of storms, but has fully witnessed the rise of a modern port, from humble beginnings to prosperity, from desolation to prosperity. Sunlight streams through the high windows, falling on the simple benches. The air is filled with the scent of candles and ancient wood, and time seems to thicken and slow here. You might imagine how, over the centuries, countless sailors have prayed for safety before setting sail, and how many women have lit candles for their loved ones far away. Their prayers, their hopes, all settled beneath this tranquil dome. In the soft light of the altar, the wooden statue of the Virgin Mary, dating from 1344 or even earlier, lies silent. Her features, gently smoothed by time, have become more profound, yet her compassionate expression has become even more profound. She had witnessed the fall of the old city and the exodus of people, had been devoutly relocated to other lands, and finally, as if by an eternal promise, she was welcomed back to the land she had protected. She was the true soul of this city, a tender mother in the hearts of every Algeciras citizen. Every year during festivals, when people carried her sacred statue through the streets surrounded by whitewashed houses, the entire city erupted in excitement. It was not a performance, but a family's attachment to and ode to their mother. Stepping out of the church, pigeons took flight in the square, and children laughed. Not far away, the faint whistles of the huge ships in the harbor echoed, the bustling pulse of modern Algeciras. I suddenly realized that this church was more than just a building. It serves as an anchor of history, firmly anchoring a city's memories; it serves as a beacon of the soul, providing a haven of tranquility no matter how tumultuous the outside world. It stands as an eternal watchtower, its Moorish-style bell tower like a loving gaze, day after day gazing upon the land and sea it has protected with love and perseverance for three centuries. In Algeciras, you can miss the bustling market, but a visit to the Church of Our Lady of the Palms is a must. Here, you can hear not only prayers but also a dialogue between the city and its soul. The history of the Church of Our Lady of the Palms is closely intertwined with the reconstruction of Algeciras. Algeciras was abandoned in the 14th century and rebuilt by Spanish settlers from Gibraltar in the early 18th century. Construction of the church began in 1723 and was consecrated in 1736. It was built to meet the spiritual needs of the new residents and replaced a simple, makeshift church. The church, dedicated to Our Lady of the Palms, is the patron saint of Algeciras and her image is deeply revered by the local population. The church is primarily Baroque in style, a popular architectural style in Spain during its construction (18th century). However, its exterior is relatively simple, lacking intricate ornamentation, reflecting the city's status as a burgeoning town. The church's most striking feature is its bell tower. It wasn't built simultaneously with the main structure, but rather as an addition in 1807. Its design, influenced by the Moorish architecture of nearby Gibraltar, incorporates elements of Neo-Moorish and Mudéjar styles, giving it a distinctive presence against the backdrop of the city. The interior of the church has a Latin cross plan, with a single nave and two side aisles. While the interior decoration is similarly simple, it houses several items of historical and artistic value, most notably the Virgin of the Palm, a wooden statue of the Virgin and Child dating back to 1344, or possibly even earlier. It originally belonged to the medieval cathedral of Algeciras. When the old city was abandoned, the statue was moved to the nearby town of San Roque. After the new city was established, it was welcomed back to Algeciras and venerated as its patron saint. Every year, believers carry the statue in a religious procession through the city. This church has witnessed Algeciras's rebirth from ruins to its development into the important port it is today on the Bay of Gibraltar. It is not only a religious site but also a vessel of urban memory. The church is located in Algeciras's old town, surrounded by narrow streets and traditional Andalusian-style buildings. The square in front of the church offers a glimpse into the historical atmosphere of this port city. It is not far from the port and the famous Coral Beach, making it an ideal starting point for exploring the old town. In short, the Church of Our Lady of the Palms is more than just a beautiful building; it is the soul of Algeciras, embodying the city's past, present, and faith.

I enjoy visiting Algeciras whenever I come across from Morocco where I am currently conducting ethnographic research. The Plaza Alta and the high streets surrounding it offer everything from tostatada con tomate and coffee in the morning to tapas and full dinner in the evening with great Spanish wine and food in the restaurants and bars. The shops are varied and offer upscale as well as budget merchandise. The tiled fountain and benches in the plaza are delightful to behold. Al and all it's a lovely spit to chill, dine and shop

A nice wide area surrounded with bars, cafés and restaurants. Located in one corner is an amazing church with a stunning collection of stained glass windows and statues. Around the Plaza you will find benches covered in small decorative tiles, a great burst of colour. No shade at the time of going so definitely a sun trap, a place for you to grab a nice snack, drink or meal and top up your colour at the same time.

Not so friendly place, specially in the evening. Lot of junkies around. I wanted to buy a ticket in the ticket office to La Linea, but the lady said she is selling only tickets to Malaga, and other tickets to all other destinations i can get in the bus , but i have to pay cash. And because I didn't have a cash I had to get back to the main street near the port entrance to withdraw money.

All covered. So protected from the rain or the sun. Helpful staff with clearly displayed timetable displays on the bays. The toilets are clean and well maintained. It feels a safe area compared to where some bus stations are located. One downside is the vending machines are astronomically priced. So bring your own or find somewhere nearby

I'm not going to say which company, although I should, but well, it seems like they hide and spend the day on the phone and it doesn't seem right to me. (Translated by Google) One of my favorite parks in this city. It has a wonderful variety of species within it, is both visually and acoustically removed from the city, and allows for moderate walks. Let's not kid ourselves, it's small and could be much better maintained. The public restrooms are unsanitary and unsafe, cramped, and insufficient. Occasionally, residents' cars (absolutely surprising, but yes, it's true, since I asked them myself) cross the park slowly to take shortcuts between streets. It has a beautifully maintained playground and has an overall wild charm. One of the things I like most about it is the sense of "unclutteredness" it offers. You can see everything at a glance, which creates peace of mind from loitering visitors.

Leaving with mixed feelings, new and clean cars in great condition but a rather unprofessional service. I made my reservation through an agency for 6PM but was told upon arrival that they close at 6 and that they would charge 60 euros on top if I would collect now. I had to return the morning after to pick up the car. When I gave the vehicle back, I went to the gas station, filled the tank until it wouldn't let me put in more, even took a photo which showed a full tank. I was told via WhatsApp that the tank was not completely full and that they would not return the deposit for fuel I paid (37 euros). They did not send a photo of proof nor did they accept my photo and explanation. The only reason for reserving here again would be the new cars and comprable cheap prices. Beware of the service.

I dropped off my car at this place yesterday after renting in Malaga airport. No one was there to assist me. I wake up today to an additional $400 USD dollar charge when there was absolutely no damage done to the car. These owners are fraudulent and are attempting to claim damages to squeeze what they can from you as we didn’t walkthrough to inspect the car. I had to drop off the keys in the box and did my due diligence in finding suitable parking in this shabby area. This specific Avis franchise is dishonest and unethical with their business practices and I’m already going to contest this with Avis upper management and my Chase bank to the fullest extent. DO NOT RENT FROM THEM IF UNLESS YOU ENJOY BEING CHEATED AND SCAMMED.

Made a booking online. On the day of the rental I went all the way by bus from Tarifa to Algeciras to be told by an unsympathetic employee that my name has a "do no rent" status in Hertz back office. The employee couldn't tell me more and refused to help me calling the customer support in Spanish although I don't speak a word. She literally chased me out of the office. (Translated by Google) Walking through the Plaza Alta a few years ago, we saw the Chapel of Our Lady of Europe, popularly known as the Little Chapel of Europe. The first records date back to 1690, when an oratory dedicated to Saint Bernard was built with the authorization of the Bishop of Cádiz. Later, it was decided to change the name to that of Our Lady of Europe. The chapel has a single nave, with a barrel vault in the main body and a groin vault in the presbytery. The Chapel is also the headquarters of the Brotherhood of Christ Tied to the Column. (Translated by Google) The Chapel of Europe is a small and charming church that you can find in Algeciras' Plaza Alta. It consists of a single rectangular nave, so as soon as you pass through its small entrance door, you enter this small place, a haven of peace and prayer, leaving behind the usual hustle and bustle of the square. The most striking feature of the Chapel of Europe is the dome over the presbytery, decorated with Baroque paintings depicting the apostles. In the small alcove behind the altar, you usually find the Virgin of Europe, a copy of the original brought from Gibraltar and returned to the British. It is the canonical headquarters of the Brotherhood of Jesus Tied to the Column, which holds its processional exit every Holy Monday from a side door that is usually not visible because it is behind the altar of the Virgin of Tears. The Brotherhood often sets up very ornate and striking altars for its members, so it is also advisable to visit the Chapel of Europe during the brotherhood's services.

(Translated by Google) A beautiful and charming chapel. It was around this sanctuary that the city of Algeciras was reborn in 1704, after its total destruction in 1375 by a Granadan king who chose to destroy it rather than lose it. It owes its name to the Virgin of Europe, patron saint of Gibraltar, because the Spanish who fled the Rock settled in the ruins of the ancient city. In 1704, Gibraltar was captured by the British-Dutch fleet, and the sanctuary was looted. The statues of the Virgin and Child were mutilated and thrown into the sea, but their remains were found by a fisherman who handed them over to the priest Juan Romero de Figueroa, who brought the statue's remains to Algeciras for safekeeping. The original image remained in the Chapel of Our Lady of Europe in Algeciras until 1864, the year in which it was returned to Gibraltar and a copy remained in Algeciras. (Original) Hermosa y coqueta capilla.

(Translated by Google) The focus of the visit on September 26, 2024 was the visit to the Parque Arqueológico de las Murallas Meriníes de Algecira. The area now occupied by the archaeological park once housed infantry barracks, built next to the former fortress of Santiago and in front of the Paseo Cristina. After the military use of the barracks was abandoned, they were demolished in 1996 and the site was urbanized. Originally, the work aimed to expand Avenida de Blas Infante to connect it with the promenade. The initial work carried out on the site demonstrated its archaeological potential and caused some social anxiety due to the possibility of the remains being destroyed if the original project were implemented. The remains found correspond to a section of wall with four towers, a moat with part of the barbican and the so-called Gibraltar or Fonsario Gate, a structure free from the wall that allowed passage to the city. The Gibraltar Gate had two bridges allowing passage from the moat to the gate and from the gate to the List; During the excavations, a cemetery with several phases of settlement was discovered, which is mentioned in medieval sources. In addition, three metal containers were built to house part of the numerous bolaños de piedra (stone bolaños) found in this site, corresponding to the catapults used by the Christians of Alfonso XI. used during the siege of 1344. Bolaños were used as ammunition for the bombardments at the Siege of Algeciras in 1342. The Bolaño was a spherical projectile made of rough-hewn stone that was fired from primitive artillery pieces: the Bombards, the Bombardettes and the Pedreros. They used to be carved with a pickaxe and then graded with an iron mold or caliper. As the diameter of the bombardments increased, so did the weight of the bullets they fired. The caliber of the stonemasons did not reach the dimensions of the bombardettes, and that of the bombardettes was much smaller. As a result, the weight of his Bolaños was also lower. Their weight was between 5 and 150 kilograms. I described the visit in detail in the “Gibraltar Travel Report Part 17” and included pictures.

Brilliant hike! There’s a small car park at the start of the trail. A random guy was there asking for a bit of money — we gave him a few euros, which seemed to make him happy. Not long after, we were greeted by horses, goats and a friendly dog. The walk took us about two hours, though we did wander off the path for a bit and stopped to enjoy a cold coffee by the waterfall. Such a beautiful spot! To reach the actual waterfall you’ll need to do a little climbing, so it’s not ideal if you’re not very able-bodied. Most of the walk is manageable for anyone, but the last section — and the detour we took — definitely needs a bit more agility.

A really peaceful and beautiful park with an amazing view of Gibraltar and the surrounding mountains. It’s a great spot to relax, enjoy nature, and reflect on the deep history of the area, this is where the Arab Muslims first arrived in 711, marking the beginning of Al-Andalus. However, the walk up to the park can be a bit annoying, there’s unfortunately quite a lot of dog poop on the path, which really takes away from the experience. Also, there’s too much graffiti around, which is sad to see in such a scenic and historic place. Still, once you’re at the top, the view and the quiet make it worth it. Great views of the Getares beach, Gibraltar, the Straight of Gibraltar with the usually busy ship traffic, as well as nice views of the Algeciras city. An amazing place for photos, 360° view, a sightseeing tower. It's worth exploring.
