Perched on a hill, Munot is a 16th-century fortress and tower offering panoramic views of the Rhine River and the surrounding village. The circular battlements, built with forced labor, conceal an atmospheric vaulted casemate. Visitors can climb the spiral staircase for breathtaking views over rooftops, spires, and wooded hills. The fortress symbolizes medieval history in Schaffhausen and provides a stunning vantage point to admire the landscape.
No ticket required to enter, can just walk in during the opening hours and explore. Quite a small place as the lower grounds are not open to public. Good view of the river Rhine and the city, can head down towards the city via the stairways nearby
3than S — Google review
Great touristic sight with easy access from the city. You need to climb up some stairways to get to the top. Even on a hot day the basement provides well received shadow and cool atmosphere to chill. There is free arts exhibition and also the access to the top is free of charge. A small kiosk is providing snacks and refreshments. Bathroom and all other facilities are clean and well maintained. The views a breath taking. If you are in the area, plan for a visit. Going up and down including parking will take roughly 30 min not including the time you will spend enjoying the view and the medieval fortress with plenty of historical details.

Munot @ Switzerland 🏰🇨🇭 📍 Schaffhausen, Switzerland Munot is a 16th-century circular fortress overlooking the town of Schaffhausen, offering panoramic views of the old town, the Rhine River, and surrounding vineyards. Built as a defensive structure, it has thick stone walls, a central courtyard, and a prominent tower you can climb for an even better vantage point. The walk up to Munot is scenic, passing through charming cobblestone streets and vineyards. From the top, the view stretches across the rooftops of Schaffhausen and toward the distant hills—a perfect spot for photography and a peaceful break from the busier town areas. 🧭 Tip: Visit in the late afternoon for softer light and fewer crowds, or at sunset for stunning golden-hour views. Entry is free, and the climb isn’t too strenuous.
Quing_刘妈妈 — Google review
Nice castle offering great views of the city. The is no entrance fee and there is a convenient parking close by. Note that the bridge near Munot parking is currently closed for repairs until December 25 do you need to climb down and up again the stairs.
Petros P — Google review
This was such a cool fortress to visit. It was completely free to walk around the grounds and into the tower itself. There are deer on the grounds that are beautiful to watch. It was not very busy on a Saturday morning. You have to walk up a good bit of stairs and some of the interior is very dimly lit, so people who are a fall risk might not enjoy this activity. Lots of information on plaques and audio in English and German.
Common — Google review
Really cool place, with nice view of the city and surrounded by deers in the dry moat. On the top you can even order some food and have a great time looking at the Rhine.
Vitor F — Google review
Look for deer! Castle Munot is a fortress above the old town of Schaffhausen. Built in 1589 based on designs by artist Albrecht Dürer, its distinctive circular form reflects Renaissance military engineering principles where curved, sloping walls deflected cannonball impacts rather than absorbing them at vulnerable corners.
Kent W — Google review
A lovely excursion, free to visit, with a beautiful view of Schaffhausen's old town. Very recommended.

The Museum zu Allerheiligen, situated within the Kloster Allerheiligen, is a significant cultural institution in the area. It houses a diverse range of artifacts encompassing archaeology, natural history, art, and historical objects. The museum boasts an extensive permanent collection and regularly hosts special exhibitions throughout the year. Visitors can also explore the impressive Schiller Bell on the cloister grounds.
Museum zu Allerheiligen in Schaffhausen blends art, history, and archaeology in a stunning historic setting—perfect for a brief, enriching visit.
Fatima S — Google review
This museum is set in the old Benedictine Monastery. It contains lots of interesting artifacts and the architecture and decoration of the rooms is, also, interesting. You have to buy a ticket to enter. Staff were welcoming and helpful. There are no English information signs. However, you are provided with a book that has the information in English. This needs to be returned before leaving. While it was nice to be able to learn about the artifacts, it was a bit of a pain lugging the book around the museum. The museum has a cafe and a small souvernir shop. Large bags have to be put into the storage lockers. You are supplied with a coin to do this. There are toilets throughout the building. These were in good condition. There are two disabled toilets. Most of the museum is wheelchair accessible. There are a couple of areas where it would be to narrow for wheelchairs. There is a wheelchair and portable folding chairs that can be borrowed. They offer German sign language tours, though you need to call for dates and times. For English people, there is a book that provides information. Guide dogs are welcome.
Shelley C — Google review
We only visited the archaeological exhibition and the private collection. The archaeological collection was really well done for all periods - but it was rather dark, even in places that I think would not be damaged by more light (higher lux). The private collection donated to the museum in 1991 was exhibited by themes. I do find it a bit over-thinking to place objects from so diverse places together.
Mette K — Google review
An amazing museum in an amazing building, a monastery. It is clearly structured and leads you through art, history, artifacts, local industries, old rooms. Easily spend a few hours here.
Martin — Google review
Wonderful service. One of the best museums I've ever been too. It is very large. You'll need at least 2 to 3 solid uninterrupted hours to view this museum at its fullest.
SeekerofTruth — Google review
Huge museum, there is something for everyone. There are also kid corners on each level, so it is great with family.
Zoltán — Google review
Visited a museum after a long time. I really liked the way things were presented. It was presented like a timeline, you start from stone age, move through iron age, copper age and continue to modern age. Old bones, weapons and utensils are shown to give a feel of the daily life of ancient humans. I really liked the miniature representations. The paintings were good as well. We had fun time guessing what the modern art paintings represented. We had both young and old generation, it was a fun place for all. Photo clicking was not allowed inside the premises, so no photos to share.

Historical landmark
Haus zum Ritter, also known as "To the Knight," is a historical landmark in Schaffhausen, boasting an impressive Renaissance facade adorned with significant frescoes. The original artwork by Tobias Stimmer was carefully removed and can now be admired at the Museum zu Allerheiligen. This double-storeyed building underwent construction and artistic enhancements from the 16th to the 19th century, resulting in its captivating appearance today.
Impressive building

This stunningly painted house is a must see if you are visiting Schaffhausen. The original frescoes, painted by Tobias Stimmer in the 1500s, were removed and placed in a local museum. The current painting dates from 1948. The house itself dates from the 1500s. It is free to see. The paintings are accessible to people who use a wheelchair.

Haus zum Ritter @ Switzerland 🏛️🇨🇭 📍 Switzerland Haus zum Ritter is a beautifully preserved historic building, notable for its striking Renaissance façade richly decorated with painted scenes and ornate details. It’s one of the standout landmarks in the old town, often admired by visitors for both its artistry and historical significance. The exterior is the main attraction here—vivid murals, intricate motifs, and the elegance of 16th-century architecture. Standing in front of it feels like stepping back in time, imagining the stories and lives that have passed through its doors. 🧭 Tip: Best viewed in good daylight to appreciate the colors and details of the murals. It’s located in the heart of the old town, so it’s easy to include in a walking tour of the area.

The Renaissance carved newel posts demonstrate incredible wood density - likely old-growth oak. Notice how each step's wear pattern differs based on common foot placement. Banister height suggests people were shorter in 1592. Overall this is a must-see.

Museum
Specialty Museums
The IWC Schaffhausen Museum is a modern and contemporary museum located at the brand's headquarters in Schaffhausen, Switzerland. It was opened in 1993 to celebrate the luxury brand's 125th anniversary and is the first of its kind in Switzerland, combining watch manufacturing with a museum. The well-lit galleries and glass walls give it a unique design, showcasing historic collections alongside new generation watches.
I’ve always heard about IWC watches and their reputation for quality, so visiting the IWC Schaffhausen Museum was a special experience for me. My aunt lives near Schaffhausen, and we decided to take a tour of the museum together, which turned out to be a fascinating journey into the history of this iconic brand. Learning about how IWC was founded and the craftsmanship behind their watches was incredible. One piece that stood out to me was a watch that had been a special gift, adorned with emeralds—my favorite stone. Seeing such a unique timepiece up close was a favorite moment during the tour. The museum does an excellent job of explaining the artistry, engineering, and innovation that goes into each IWC watch—through audio guides. It gave me an appreciation for the quality and dedication behind the brand. This visit has made me excited about the possibility of one day owning an IWC watch :) If you’re in Schaffhausen, this museum is a nice stop, whether you’re a watch enthusiast or just curious about the history of luxury craftsmanship.
Miss O — Google review
It was an overall superb experience at the Museum! I had always wanted to visit the place where IWC watches are assembled and finally had a ‘pocket of time’ to stroll through and learn more about the heritage and works of IWC. I would also like to commend Zoe for her warm and spectacular reception! Loved the fact that she wanted me to be comfortable by offering a place for coats and bags.
Zunnurain Z — Google review
Unless u are a IWC lover if not it's not worth to visit the museum as it is chargeable. On the contrary, the park a few steps away is nice place to relax.
Terence A — Google review
Visiting the IWC Museum was an incredible experience—it deepened my appreciation for the brand and inspired me even more to pursue owning one.
Abdul K — Google review
Visited IWC Schaffhausen as recommended by my wife since we were around the area at Rhinefalls. As a watch enthusiast, and a fan of the brand, it was such an amazing experience to visit, and take a walk in the brand’s history. They provide both unguided & guided tours, both with different entrance fees. Other than the museum, they of course have a boutique there as well. I purchased my first IWC: the Pilot mark XX with pascal oehen, a client advisor there. Would highly recommend visiting the museum and boutique, and if you can ask for pascal!
Jeroemy — Google review
Not too big (much smaller then Omega museum as example) but well made, offers audio guide and interactive guide experience . Personell is cordial and price is fair .
Andrea S — Google review
Beautiful museum! It actually showed the history and origins of these time keeping masterpieces! Very informative and interactive. Kinda makes you proud for owning one their watches, make sure to spend good amount of time in there to really understand the stories behind the company! It has two main wings, west wing for the 100 years historical watches evolution and the East wings for the new generation watches. It’s totally worth the visit 👍
Jalal H — Google review
Very nice and knowledgable staff. Museum is small but really informative on the history of the brand.

Güterhof is an amazing restaurant in Schaffhausen by the river Rhine, it quite big and spacious and also suitable for larger groups and gatherings. Better to reserve in advance as it may be busy quite easily. The ambience good service all very good. I have been visiting this place since more than 14 years and always had good experience. The menu is changing based on the season and the best memory I have is during a nice cold winter evening relishing the Cheese Fondue and this is something I would repeat again and again. If you are In Schaffhausen this is a great one to try.

Nice small casino. Plenty of slots and even had small set of tables for blackjack and poker, roulette too. Very gracious to put the television on to American 🏈 football for us. Not a wide selection of tap beer but their selection of spirits were too notch.

Very cozy casino with two floors, check-in on the front counter with friendly and professional staff. The first floor consists of a kitchen and Bar, one Texas Holdem table, one Roulette and can't remember the third table, there are other slot machines around the area. The second floor has an 8 person digital roulette, there is more slot machine to include a bar and a lounge, smoking is allowed on the second floor. If you're looking for a refreshing escape this summer, Rhybadi is the perfect destination. Nestled along the River Rhine, it stands as Switzerland's largest and oldest natural swimming pool. Here, you can spend your day splashing in clean waters while soaking up the sun on comfortable loungers. The atmosphere is vibrant and welcoming, making it an ideal spot to unwind with friends or family.
Free entry if you just want food and drink. Dogs are welcome in the restaurant area too! 🐾 One of my favorite summer hangouts. ☕️🥐

Absolutely love it there - they've got lovely drinks & food, the staff is super nice, pricing is really reasonable and they host cool events like karaoke & bands. Theyve got 2 large pools you can swim in and wooden decks to sun bathe. 10/10 experience every time

Amazing place to swim in the Rhein river in Schaffhausen. There is a place to eat, change rooms, toilets and lockers. Easily accessible by public transport or a nice walk from Schaffhausen main train station down the centre of town to the ‘Badie’. Gorgeous place to cool down in the summer. Lovely staff working there.

A delightful place, a trip back in time and most certainly worth your visit. I would argue that this is one of the highlights of any trip to Schaffhausen. My tip would be to go there when the weather isn't necessarily amazing, or certainly fairly early in the morning, to enjoy a more serene, quiet place.

The tour from the Tourist Information Center proceeds along the Oberstadt and turns back at Fronwagplatz. It then continues along the Vorstadt, reaching the old city tower Schwabentor. Afterward, walking through the city center streets leads to Vordergasse and a visit to Munot fortress. To conclude the tour, a visit to Munster (the city's cathedral), one of Switzerland's few Romanesque religious structures, is recommended.

Fronwagplatz @ Switzerland ⛲🇨🇭 📍 Schaffhausen, Switzerland Fronwagplatz is the central square of Schaffhausen’s old town, surrounded by beautifully preserved medieval buildings, colorful facades, and charming shops. The square is home to elegant fountains, open-air seating areas, and a lively atmosphere, especially on market days. It’s a great spot to pause, take in the historic architecture, and people-watch while enjoying a coffee or snack from one of the nearby cafés. The cobblestone streets leading out from the square make it an ideal starting point for exploring the rest of the old town. 🧭 Tip: If you visit during the weekly market, you’ll find local produce, flowers, and regional specialties that add extra color and life to the square.

Nice swiss small town. Arriving from Zurich its easy to catch a bus to drive to the Rhinefall. At the Schifflaendi you also can catch Tourbus/train whichs drive you to the Rhinefall. You also can do a day trip to Stein am Rhine and using one of those River boats (only summer time). One way between 1 -2 hours.

Schloss Laufen, also known as Laufen Castle, is a medieval fortress with a rich history of over 1000 years. Located in the canton of Zurich, Switzerland, it offers stunning views of the Rhinefall cascade and is situated near the river Rhine. The castle has been transformed into a restaurant and features a glass elevator that takes visitors to various observation platforms for breathtaking views of the Rhinefalls. Additionally, there is a railway line passing through the castle.
Beautiful castle with a lot of visitors at the weekend. A panorama lift leads directly to the train station and to the platforms with a breathtaking view of the largest waterfall in Europe. The boat harbor for the Rhine Falls round tours is then not far either. Sufficient parking spaces available.

This castle was really really cool! Me and my family had an amazing time here! The views were amazing and unreal! The waterfall was even cooler than we had expected! The colors, the vintage feeling, and the atmosphere made this trip worth it! By far my favorite castle that I’ve been to!

Not much to see since some of the parts were closed but it is included in the whole experience with the waterfalls, so you can enjoy all the rest and the magnificent views.
Φίλιππος Μ — Google review
There is not much to the castle itself. It has been turned into restaurants. Surrounding it, though, is a playground, shops, eateries, toilets, and a church. There is a small exhibition. For photography of the castle, you get more scenic views from the other side of the river. You can cross using the train bridge, which has a pedestrian pathway. The best views of the falls are from the left-hand side when crossing. You get tickets for accessing the falls viewing platforms at the castle. You can pay by cash or card. The machine was easy to use. I got there early, so there was a small queue. This got larger as the day progressed. I can see it getting very busy in the summer, so I would recommend pre-booking tickets. If you use a wheelchair or a pushchair, you are asked to purchase your tickets from the Schloss Laufen Visitor Centre. They can not be purchased online. There is a nearby carpark with disabled parking. There are wheelchair friendly trails.

The Schloss Laufen castle is nice for a quick visit. There is more to see outside with the views than inside but we still enjoyed the interactive exhibition. Recommend it!
Maria A — Google review
Incredibly touristy. Most of the castle is restaurants. The castle tour is about 20 minutes long, doesn’t contain any historical artifacts or tell much of the castles history, and is oddly creepy showing fake photos with moving eyes. The falls are gorgeous but you get a better view from across the water. It’s affordable but not worth the train ride from Zurich.
Elle F — Google review
From the outside the castle looks big, but inside it was much smaller. Most of the castle is occupied by restaurants. But anyway, it's an interesting place. Moreover, the tour of the castle is free. Entrance to the castle costs 5 euros, the price includes a visit to the lower observation decks near the waterfall. I don't regret going to the museum. Although the display is quite small, the dining room was a surprise. They did not expect. Funny and interesting. The exhibition is interactive. I recommend visiting.

Before coming here, We went on opposite side to take the pink boat ride for 30minutes which has a nicer view of the Rhine falls compared to this location. There is a glass elevator that goes to the viewing platform which is chargeable. The view from the glass elevator is breathtaking.

Historical landmark
Located in the old town near the Visitors Centre, Fronwagturm and Herrenstube are historical buildings with fascinating stories. The pink-colored Herrenstube society house once served as a drinking place in the 14th century. Meanwhile, Fronwagturm housed large market scales used for weighing goods transported through Schaffhausen. The tower also features an astronomical clock built in 1564 that displays various celestial information.
(Translated by Google) The astronomical clock built in 1564 can display the time, day of the week, seasons, prediction of solar and lunar eclipses, the shape of the moon, the time of moonrise and moonset, the position of the sun in the zodiac, and the days of the vernal and autumnal equinoxes. The location is on the south side of Fronwagplatz Square, on the gable of the Fronwagturm Tower.
Wilma S — Google review
(Translated by Google) There used to be a large market scale in the Fronwagturm, which is now exhibited in the Museum zu Allergesundheitsen at Klosterstrasse 16 in Schaffhausen. In 1746 the Fronwag Tower collapsed and severely damaged the neighboring Herrenstube guild house. In 1747 it was rebuilt together with the guild house. An astronomical clock by Joachim Habrecht from 1564 is installed in the gable. It shows hours, days of the week, the course of the moon through the zodiac signs, the rising and falling of the moon in the sky, the position of the sun in relation to the zodiac, the seasons, the equinoxes, the Lunar nodes, eclipses and aspects between the sun and moon. The black and gold ball above the Roman XII of the clock shows the waxing and waning of the moon. None of this is noticeable at first glance. You would probably have to stand in front of the clock for 100 years to compare all of its properties with reality. Unfortunately I don't have that much time or patience.

Waterfalls
Rhine Falls, also known as Rheinfall in German, is the largest waterfall in Europe, located along the Rhine River in Switzerland. The falls are 150m wide and 23m high and have been a source of inspiration for artists like Turner. Visitors can take boat trips, explore viewing platforms, and join guided tours to fully experience this natural wonder. One popular viewpoint is from the walls around Laufen Castle, offering striking views of the falls.
Absolutely breathtaking! The waterfalls in Switzerland are like something out of a postcard – powerful, majestic, and surrounded by stunning natural beauty. The sound of the rushing water combined with the fresh mountain air makes the experience unforgettable. The area is well-maintained, easy to access, and perfect for both nature lovers and photographers. Definitely a must-see if you’re visiting Switzerland! 🇨🇭

Stunning place, absolutely amazing. Even though it was a rainy morning, the view over the falls and around was breathtaking. I bought boat ride tickets online, but I couldn't use them because our bus tour arrived too early and we only stayed for one hour. There is a very pleasant promenade with benches to rest on, multiple viewing platforms, a couple of gift shops, and several toilet facilities.
FLnurseER1 — Google review
It is a beautiful waterfall. I came to it with the knowledge that it is Europe's largest and most powerful waterfall but when I saw it I was not impressed at all. Compared to the major waterfalls in other continents, it is not that large or powerful. But it is beautiful. And the walkway that leads to it is fine. There is plenty of water and it is so beautifully blue. The foamy water under the waterfall is nice to see. And there are quite a few waterbirds there such as gulls.
Dr G — Google review
The Rhine Fall offer a truly spectacular natural experience. We have visited several times and we loved it everytime. Until now, we have always chosen the entrance via Laufen Castle, which features a panoramic trail and a viewing platform situated halfway down. A staircase leads directly to the base of the falls, and after passing through a short tunnel carved into the rock, visitors can admire the waterfall from an impressive side vantage point. Watching the immense volumes of water cascade downward is endlessly captivating — a sight that draws us back time and again. I can also recommend to enjoy the boat ride to the Fall. It‘s a great experience!

Absolutely breathtaking! The view of Rheinfall is simply amazing—powerful, majestic, and unforgettable. Whether you're standing on the viewing platform or taking a boat ride close to the falls, the experience is incredible. Nature at its finest!
YippieYaYa — Google review
A wonderful creation of nature and if you are in Zurich i would recommend having a visit to Rhine falls. It is easily accessible via train and there is a train station that gets you right to the viewing point of rhine falls. You have to buy a ticket to enter the falls which was around 5CHF at the ticket vending machine located there. No need to prebook the tickets. Then you have to take some steps down thus a small walk will take you to the viewing platform of this huge waterfall. You will feel the mist as the water power is really great at the viewing platform. There are several boat services which you can hop on to on an extra cost and will take you closer to the falls.
Uvini R — Google review
A must-visit Swiss landmark! Plan at least half a day, walk down from the castle to the waterfall, enjoy the view at various view points, take a boat tour with an audio guide, have a bite, walk back around the waterfall and over the bridge. Visit after a heavy rain when the waterfall has lots of water. Try to come during the week when it’s less busy. There is a little tourist train going around the waterfall and showing some of Schaffhausen. Very easily accessible by car or by train.

The location is very nice on the side of the castle. No direct view on the waterfall, but still a nice view. Menu has mostly large and hot meals, there are not many smaller dishes. The food arrived rather quickly to be made after we ordered. It looked very nice, but the taste did not match the looks. Waiters responded very fast and friendly! We also had the misfortune to need to battle 4 wasps while trying to eat and drink.

This is a well situated restaurant when you come to visit the Rhine Falls, close to the border between Switzerland and Germany. This past Saturday there was restricted access to the premises because of a wedding. Food was mediocre at best and served far too quickly to have been prepared after I arrived. The vegetables were soggy and the French fries industrial. The list of open wines is restricted but of good quality and service is OK. Look for another restaurant if you want to eat well!

I went to the waterfall to visit and saw the castle since I didn't knew anything about Schaffausen and heard a lot about the waterfalls ,but since I love history I could not go back without visiting the castle ,and it's gorgeous ! For what I read this castle has been in this hill for more than a 1000 years ! It now functions as museum and restaurant ,you can reach it by car or by boat ,the only thing I didn't like was the fact that the museum felt very empty with just some furniture ,it didn't feel natural ,there are sound rooms and some walkways explaining the history . On the outside if you want to visit some points of the path or get closer to the waterfall ...you have to pay a absurde amount of money just to reach a part where you get very close to the waterfall . Acsess for wheelchairs and other disabilities is very easy ,anyone can visit the outside part of the castle ,inside there are stairs and I didn't see a lift . There is a very large parking space ,from there you can visit the castle ,and descend down to the river and get on a boat ! It's not free you have to pay . Since it's not public transport any swiss SBB cards don't function with boat transport . Overall a great experience !

(Translated by Google) Mohrenbrunnen When I went the shops were closed and it was quite cold. The place is beautiful as always, with many views to take photos. But it looks a bit quiet like a deserted city (I'm secretly afraid of zombies popping out, haha) but I still walk around and look around in a relaxed way. As I walked around, I started to feel hot and thirsty, so I sat and rested by the fountain that was a statue of a soldier holding a weapon (I guess it was a king). Another thing I liked was the IWC watch. It's perfect for taking photos, hehe. Another eye-catching part is probably the strangely protruding window of the knight's house. Mohrenbrunnen is a historic fountain with an interesting sculpture and a beautifully decorated bowl with flowers. The perfect place to stop for a moment while walking through the old town. (Translated by Google) As the oldest surviving part of Schaffhausen's city fortifications, the Obertorturm (Upper Gate Tower) was first documented in 1273 as "zem obern tor" (the upper gate). At that time, it also served as a residential tower for the noble Fridbolt family. The tower appears to have been relatively small at the time, as indicated by the differently colored cornerstones. It wasn't until 1513 that the tower was increased to 47 meters. Natural History Museums
Museum Stemmler, located in the heart of Schaffhausen's old town, is a unique zoological museum that showcases a diverse collection of preserved birds, native animals, and exotic wildlife. The museum was founded by Carl Stemmler, a passionate furrier and conservationist who dedicated his life to collecting and preserving various curiosities and rarities. Visitors can explore four floors filled with stuffed animals, bones, feathers, bird eggs, snake skins, and other intriguing artifacts.
Great museum of stuffed animals and skeletons (a few are human) gathered in the first half of the last century. The eagle's nest with its remains and the video are really impressive. Free entrance, open on Sundays.

I came across this museum by accident, so I had no idea what to expect. It is full of stuffed animals, hides, skeletons, and other nature items. There is actually quite a lot to see, and it was interesting. It is not suitable for people who use a wheelchair or have mobility issues. There was no lift, and some areas were too narrow to easily move a wheelchair around. There were toilets. These were clean.

Excellent collection. Lot of details of birds and animals. Initiated and run by people with love and passion towards it. Situated in 4 floors. Easy to reach. Entry is free. Very near to railway station.

Hidden in a side street, by chance, we found this little museum with a huge collection of preserved animals. It's several floors with hundreds of preserved animals of different types and skeletons. Specially birds. Great to spend some time watching animals, but also to learn to identify birds (find the tablets that where you can play the different bird sounds). Great surprise, sad that it's not better advertised.

This is a small museum with a private collection of stuffed animals and bones. The collection was donated to the city of Schaffhausen. Since the entry is free, it is a good choice to bring kids here for an hour. Unfortunately it opens only on Sundays. Since the museum is located in the old Town of Schaffhausen, the building is rather small and compact, which makes it hard to maneuver a wheelchair. There is no lift or elevator for the upper floors and the staircase is very narrow.

Nestled near Zurich, the Rheinfall-Felsen offers an enchanting experience that combines natural beauty with delightful culinary indulgence. Imagine savoring a fondue Chinoise in the charmingly illuminated Schloss Laufen, perched high above Europe’s largest waterfall. The ambiance is cozy, complete with a crackling fireplace and an abundant buffet featuring delectable desserts.
The falls are stunning, and the platforms allow you to get very close to them. You have to pay to access the platforms. There is a machine in the castles courtyard. It accepts cash or cards. There was no queue early in the morning, but it got busier as the day passed. There are steps down, or you can use the glass lift, which takes you to the first level. People who use a wheelchair can only access the first level, and they are asked to purchase their tickets from the Schloss Laufen Visitor Centre. They can not be pre-purchased. You are also asked to do this if you have a pushchair. At around 8 a.m., there was no one else on the platforms. As the day progressed, it got busier. By 12 p.m., it was uncomfortably crowded. I would suggest going early. There is a little cave opening. This is worth going through as it brings you out on another platform. There are toilets, shops, and places to eat up on the castle level.

A Breathtaking Natural Wonder – A Must-Visit Near Zurich! If you’re anywhere near Zurich, do yourself a favour and make time to visit the Rheinfall (Rhine Falls) – it’s absolutely worth the trip. It’s the largest waterfall in Europe, and seeing it up close is honestly something else. The power and noise of the water crashing down is wild – photos and videos don’t do it justice. What’s great is how accessible everything is. Whether you want a chill stroll with scenic views or an adrenaline rush from standing near the edge of the roaring water, Rheinfall caters to both. There are cafes and places to grab a bite too, so you can take your time and soak it all in. Tip: Go early or later in the afternoon if you want to avoid the crowds, especially in summer. And definitely bring a camera – but also take a moment to just watch and listen. It’s one of those places where nature really puts on a show. Don’t forget the trip in the ship 🚢 swiss

Our previous day's river cruise took place on the same river, but within Germany, whereas we are presently in Switzerland. The water here boasts exceptional cleanliness, as illustrated by the fish visible in two of my photographs, which I presumed to be brown trout. This stop was a picturesque haven, albeit compromised by the presence of irritating sand flies. However, the scenery remained untouched, and souvenir shopping opportunities were available at every stop. Subsequently, we made our way to our hotel. #germany #switzerland #2025goals #travel #costsaver #travelphotography #tour #tourism

Families can have fun in the summer, and there are plenty of activities for kids and parents to enjoy together. For those looking to stay active, this park is an ideal spot.
From March 31st to April 7th 2024, the IWC Arena was the home of the World's Men's Curling Championship. Thirteen men's teams worldwide were in competition for the elusive gold 🏅; silver and bronze aren't to be sneezed at either! The teams included Canada (Gushue), Czech Republic (Lukas Klima), Germany (Benjamin Knapp), Italy (Joel Retornaz), Japan (Shinya Abe), Netherlands (Wouter Gosgens), New Zealand (Anton Hood), Norway (Magnus Ramsfjell), Scotland (Bruce Mouat), South Korea (Jong-duk Park), Sweden (Nik Edin), Switzerland (Benoit Schwartz) and United States (John Shuster). Watching curling in person is a wonderful experience and if you can, get yourself a ticket and sit back and relax; you'll be in fir some good curling! If you can't attend in person, it was televised worldwide (and livestreamed as well). This year, the crowd, which was very enthusiastic all throughout the week, witnessed Sweden's Team Niklas Edin winning their historic seventh World title!

Recently, a corporate event took place at the Beachbar + Beachshop @ Caribbean Village and the overall concept was highly impressive. The ambiance resembles a vibrant Caribbean village, exuding brightness and an authentic atmosphere. The food offered at the various stalls is partially exotic but consistently delicious. Additionally, the music played perfectly transports visitors to the Caribbean region. Nevertheless, once night falls, this immersive feeling diminishes slightly. It would be ideal if they could maintain that captivating ambiance throughout the evening.
Great little village! Nice food and delicious coconuts. Perfect Caribbean atmosphere.

We accidentally stumbled upon Beachbar Caribbean Village in Nottwil while out for a drive and what a magical surprise it was! 🥰This place is such a vibe. A cute little village with colorful, tropical flair that feels like a mini vacation tucked away in Switzerland. The atmosphere is super vibrant and chic, with beachy decor, laid-back music, and a relaxed crowd. It’s small but has so much character. The kind of place that instantly lifts your mood. 😊 I sipped on a refreshing Hugo while enjoying some flammkuchen, and honestly, I didn’t want to leave. Just across the station, there’s a spot where you can go for a swim! It’s the perfect summer escape whether you’re stopping by for a drink or spending a lazy afternoon soaking up the sun. It’s a bit of a drive from where we live, but 100% worth it. Already dreaming of going back soon. Highly recommend if you’re craving a slice of summer fun! :)

We just had a corporate event at this location. The whole concept is great. While it is bright you literally get the feeling of being somewhere in a Caribbean village. The food they prepare is partly exotic but what ever I tried from the various stalls was delicious. The music they play takes you somewhere in the Caribbean region. However the sad part is that you lose this feeling a bit once it gets dark. It should be possible to keep that feeling and atmosphere even during night. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Anyways, the location is definitely worth spending an evening with friends.

The drinks are refreshing, and the snacks are perfect for a sunny day. The Beachshop has a nice selection of summer essentials and fun beach accessories, so you’re covered if you forgot something. (Translated by Google) A worth seeing but remote ruin. The moat and the main castle are still well preserved. The complex must have been very large with the outer bailey. You cross a large ditch on the way to the castle. With these 2 moats and the 3m thick palace wall, the castle must have been difficult to crack. We started from the Bohnerzpfad where there are public parking spaces. The path to the ruins takes a good 20 to 25 minutes. Don't be surprised, but it goes downhill a bit and then goes uphill again. I wouldn't advise anyone to go from the valley up to the castle. If you want to stop at the Rossbergschenke, you should of course go to the castle from there, as time goes on there's no point.

(Translated by Google) It's just gigantic - this nature, the colors, impressions and views. It's best to start at the "Im See" car park. Good footwear is a MUST. First go to the biotope - your heart opens. After crossing the road: keep left, right into the forest. In addition, you can also walk along the wide path “next to the water”. Enjoy the peace, be quiet, what colors. You can hear the babbling of the stream, the chirping of the birds - just listen to the language and voices of nature. Always upwards. At the fork: keep left, half left, straight ahead after the blue arrow. Then it comes, the ruins. But: we are not there yet. We still have to ON this thing: then the moment comes - this view. In good weather: Alpine views. And again - enjoy the peace and quiet. Think about WHAT you see - even in secret. Yes, even the little chapel near Albleiten greets you on the mighty tree - you can see all the way to Erzingen. The place with the huge, impressive old building - and everything that goes with it. A sight that moves me. And I keep saying and thinking: we live where others go on vacation. And I gratefully appreciate it. Do vacationers - who are slaves to their cell phones - also agree with me? Let's get going on the descent. But not back the same way. NO, it HAS to be the narrow path into the valley. I won't rave any further, everyone has to experience their own impressions. We cross the meadow on the road and, thinking about what we have experienced, walk along the newly designed hiking trail (which soon leads to Jestetten) back to the parking lot. Yes, there are so many beautiful hikes from here too. Just take the time to do it. There are so many wonderful MTB options here! There are even said to be MTB riders who dare to make the rest of the way from the ruins into the valley. There are times when you have to “see” the path. I took a chance, but let it go. I gave up after 50 m. Wanted to try it once during the week. I don't dare do it - not just out of respect for hikers: also out of concern for my bike :-) I also love MTB riding, but precisely out of respect: PLEASE NOT. Better only with your best friend and be careful towards others. On solid paths. Even my almost 84-year-old mother fought and was deeply moved. Hats off to her.
