The May-Stringer House, located in Brooksville, Florida, is a Victorian-era home that has been transformed into a museum showcasing historical artifacts and memorabilia from the 19th century. Visitors can take guided tours of the house to learn about the early settlers and explore its haunted history. The property is believed to be haunted by several spirits, including a young girl who passed away at the age of three.
Tours are on the hour. We arrived after 11:30 so we came back at 12:30. Interesting history of the house. Some items originally to the house, but many have been donated but are of the period. 3 very cool doll house in the attic. Well worth the $10 per person.
Pam S — Google review
Went to the haunted house last night (10/24/25) and had an amazing time! There was a short wait to get in, but they did a great job spacing people out so everyone could really enjoy the experience. The decorations were fantastic and so well thought out, and the scare actors made it unforgettable. Great job to everyone involved!
Jacklyn — Google review
All volunteer led tours and all run on donations. Such interesting history of the house and Florida itself.
Angie J — Google review
The May-Stringer House is an absolute treasure! 🕯️ From the moment you step inside, you can feel the history — and maybe a little something extra lingering in the air. The guides were knowledgeable, friendly, and full of fascinating stories that brought the past to life. The attention to detail in each room is incredible; it’s like stepping straight into another era. Whether you’re into local history, vintage architecture, or the paranormal side of things, this place is a must-visit in Brooksville. Can’t wait to go back for another visit! 👻
Devon S — Google review
The May-Stringer House is a wonderful place to bring your family to learn about some history and Brooksville Florida. Admission is $10 for an adult and $5 for children 12 and under. The house is considered a Victorian style, ginger bread home. The outside of the home could be in need of some refurbishment and a touch of paint, but overall the house itself looks to be in fine shape. The interior of the home is very well kept with many items being donated from various people. All of the items are said to be in the correct time period. There are three floors to discover. We were greeted by three staff members all wearing Victorian style outfits. They were all very knowledgeable about the home and were able to answer many questions. Thank you for the wonderful experience. It is a must-do for anyone that is a local in the area.
Thomas M — Google review
We did a paranormal investigation and got an apparition in the second story window. In our video it turns around and moves to the left of the window it’s our best capture to date. This home is full of history and is wonderful to explore. Our tour guides were fantastic we definitely would like to do the night tour again maybe with less people. Loved this place and highly recommend checking it out both during the day and at night if you dare!
Shanna H — Google review
It was so fun! Was hoping to see a spirit, but not this time. Did get some very weird feelings though. Recommend!

Nestled in the heart of Brooksville, the 1885 Brooksville Train Depot is a charming museum that transports visitors back to the 19th century. Originally built by the Florida Southern Railroad, this historic depot showcases an impressive collection of local history and railroad artifacts. Guests can marvel at a model train display, explore an authentic utility train car from the 1880s, and even step into a cobbler's shop filled with tools from yesteryear.
Great little place to tour and fun nice older gentlemen give the tour. It’s short but worth it to see all the artifacts. Really nice people. Do not skip the one room schoolhouse next door! Included with the admission and the ladies there Ms Mary and Ms Gretchen were amazing, full of historical information and you get an old fashioned schoolhouse tour. They were absolutely lovely.

Cool slice of history and Americana. It was closed while we were there in June 24 but we checked out the grounds and it is worth the trip for the pictures!
Tom B — Google review
We went on a Thursday, Google showed it was open Thursday - Saturday. Nope only open Friday and Saturday so we didn't get to go inside, maybe next time we're in town. We ventured around the quaint town and saw Murals, Beautiful Homes, and good History if anyone else is interested.
CinLuHu — Google review
My ladies group from church toured the museum and we had the best time. For such a tiny place, it was incredible the amount of History that we experienced. The volunteer that gave us our tour was incredibly knowledgeable and we learned so much. We were there over 2 hours and still didn't see everything and I could tell that that volunteer could have told us stories for days so I can't wait to return.

Great parking for the Good Neighbor bicycle trail. The Good Neighbor bicycle trail has 911 markers along the way. The Brooksville Train Musuem was closed when we were there. So glad they preserved all of this!

You could visit this place 20 times and each time discover something new. There is so much to see and experience. There is an absolutely beautiful walking trail here as well as a one room school house

Nestled in a picturesque setting, Tom Varn Park is an expansive oasis that beckons visitors to enjoy its diverse offerings. With a blend of open green spaces and serene wooded areas, this park is ideal for a leisurely afternoon outdoors. Families will delight in the impressive playground featuring traditional swings and slides alongside an adventurous wooden climbing structure adorned with charming miniature steeples.
Beautiful park. Has bathrooms. The play grounds are clean. Bark chips around the playground. The play ground is gated.
Sofiya V — Google review
Tom barn is our favorite local park here in Brooksville. The playground is clean, safe, and fenced in. They have playgrounds for smaller kids all the way up to bigger kids. They have lots of swings and things to spin on. They have slides. They have a jungle gym course. There’s a lot of nice grassy areas to be able to play ball in. They have volleyball courts, basketball courts and baseball. There’s a gorgeous walking trail or jogging trail. Then on the other side of the park, there’s golf frisbee. The grounds are very well maintained. They updated the bathrooms last year and they’re actually very very nice. Just this summer the splash pad opened up and it’s been a hit. If you have kids and you’re in the Brooksville area, I suggest stopping over at tom Varn Park for a great day. There’s also an exercise course for adults if they want to exercise out there. Pull-ups dips situps.
The R — Google review
We like this place so much more now. The old wooden playground was nice but it had become unsafe. It is much better now and it is safer for the kids. Plus a lot of the play area is in the shade and there's usually plenty of seating for the adults. Also with the addition of the splash park it is so much better! Great place to take your kids to get their energy out.
The T — Google review
Love the park! Has a great playground and relaxing walking trails. I have a 3 year old son that I have been bringing to the new Splash park weekly since it opened. Love it! Except for you thing. My son and a few others in the span of a day kept slipping and smacking there heads on the ground when they walked across this mosaic tile that is Super slippery. I understand it's to represent those who possibly sponsored the project. But I'm asking for it to be removed or something. Please comment if you have had this experience to help prevent any further injury our children. Thank you, Concerned Dad.

Beautiful trails, great swings for me and my little one. Beautiful pond with turtles and gazebos. Next time I go I'll post pictures its very scenic and pretty. Also awesome splash pad. I highly recommend this park it is by far our favorite family friendly parky.

Super nice, walking trails, large pond with fountains and Coi Fish. There are picnic tables. Benches, shade as well as sun. A very nice place for an outing!

Hey world thanks for clicking my pictures had a show at art in the park. With a friend of mine name Keemba on the drums we performed for over 100 people. Walking through out the event space. They had vendors and. People selling art with over a 100 artist
REVOLUTIONARYTV — Google review
The playground is fantastic. Modern, clean, and full of fun equipment that immediately had my kids excited. We also took a walk on the paved path that winds through the park. It's perfect for a serene stroll under the beautiful shade trees. The whole park is incredibly well-maintained and has such a friendly, welcoming vibe.

Coney Island Drive Inn is a cherished gem in Brooksville, Florida, where nostalgia meets deliciousness. This vintage diner has been delighting locals since 1960 with its mouthwatering menu featuring foot-long hot dogs, juicy burgers, and crispy wings. The retro ambiance adds to the charm as you indulge in classic American comfort food like perfectly seasoned fries and thick milkshakes.
Dog friendly seating outside. Lots of ambiance, abundant options for your burger or dog, plus extras like Friday fish special, wings, good milkshakes, and a few adult beverages. Small stage out back and plenty of parking. It's always nice to be able to enjoy a meal at a community institution.

This continues to be an awesome spot for hot dogs. Love mine with coleslaw or chilli. They also make a great Reuben dog. Fridays they celebrate ‘fish fry Friday, which is a large fried filet of fish, with fries, for $6.00. Delicious. Very friendly service staff, especially Kristin. Plenty of parking. Seating inside or outside
John C — Google review
Coney Island is one place that I have been visiting since I was a young child. We would always go for foot long coney dogs and they tasted amazing! For some reason the last time I visited the food seemed to have changed. The money sauce was dried out....possibly from sitting under the heat lamp. The cheese on my reuben dog was not melted. Just some things that were different. The fries were amazing as always, no change there! They have several options for hot dogs and foot long hot dogs. They have a Gator dog, reuben dog, Coney dog and many others! Their milkshakes are awesome! All in all, this famous restaurant has many signs, license plates and pictures from many decades ago. Its a great walk down memory lane for sure! If you are visiting this area, you should try it out! Highly recommend it!
Diane B — Google review
Coney Island is a Brooksville institution going back decades of providing awesome food, hospitality, and community engagement. Any time we have friends that come up, or family in town, it’s the top of their list. Eating under the gorgeous trees, enjoying a classic piece of Americana offers an experience more than just a hot dog stand. The service with a smile is a point of Southern pride. Shout out to Megan, who helped us out today, and to every person we’ve talked to over the last decade. It’s been here a while, and here’s to many more hopeful years. I can’t imagine our landscape without it.
Michael C — Google review
Enjoyed our lunch today. The hot dogs were delicious and the cheese fries were extremely cheesy, just like I want them. The staff is extremely helpful ans the atmosphere is fun.
Susan V — Google review
Great little old dive! I absolutely love places like this. My only regret is that I didn't spend the extra $1 to upgrade to a Nathan's Famous hot dog. The regular one wasn't bad though, just small.
Mark E — Google review
Coney Island hot dogs: A decent experience, slightly let down by the quality of the buns. The hot dogs themselves were enjoyable, but the buns were a bit stale, detracting from the overall experience. The chili also tasted a bit like it came from a can, which wasn't ideal. Overall, a good hot dog, but could be improved with fresher buns and a higher-quality chili.

This place was amazing!! Lots of memorable throughout the restaurant inside and out. The food was great and really liked the fact that Elvis had eaten here! Staff was very friendly and we will definitely be visiting again.

Nestled in the heart of Florida, Florida Cracker Kitchen is a charming eatery that embodies the spirit of Southern hospitality. With locations in Brooksville, Jacksonville, and Keystone, this delightful restaurant is run by the dynamic duo Ethan and Blair Hensley. Known for its warm service and inviting ambiance—complete with a vintage pickup truck at the entrance—Florida Cracker Kitchen offers an array of mouthwatering breakfast and lunch options.
Some of the best southern food you can get in central Florida! The biscuits and gravy are hands-down some of the best I’ve ever had. Their grits with tomato sauce was too good! The cinnamon roll was fantastic. 5/5 stars!
Susheel S — Google review
Been 2-3 years since we were here. Met a friend for lunch on a Wed. Noticed menu changes that did away with some of our go to favorites like the fish dip & chips. I had the shrimp po’boy, DW had the 1-1-1 and friend had the Monte Cristo. All were good, served hot, but nothing special. Saw the spin off BBQ place around the corner. Might have to try that next time we are in town.
H L — Google review
The delicious, authentic food served in the small restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. Open for breakfast and lunch, it is advisable to come earlier than planned because it always peaks and there is a wait to be seated. Don’t forget that only cash payment is accepted.
Nisa N — Google review
This place offers a cool atmosphere. There are all kinds of things to look at hanging around in the old Florida cracker style theme. We got here early on a Saturday so we didn’t have to wait to be seated but it quickly got picked after we arrived. The waitress was super nice and attentive even as they got busy. I got the western omelette which tasted a bit off, I think it may have been the ham in it. The raisin toast was tasty and the coffee was good. My husband had the sausage biscuits and gravy. He enjoyed it. We’ve had breakfast here in the past and it was good so I’m hoping the omelette was just a one off. The portions are big. We’ll definitely come back again.
Claribel R — Google review
To my southern friends as well as my Northern friends, you may not be familiar, What a cracker is?Crackers, not to be confused with rednecks, but sometimes are. Cracker refers to the whips carry by cattle men which they used to move cattle around on a farm. Hence crackers, the sound that a whip makes. Now this place hearkens to that Southern Florida charm by harkening to that homage. The restaurant is eclectic. It looks like it's from back in time, old signs, limited accommodations, some AC, some wonderful Florida ambient temperatures. I came for brunch. What did I have with my meal? Grits! that's right, grits AKA precursor to Whiskey. This place serves really good grits, I should know, I love grits! Butter? yeah they have real butter. No joke, not plastic spread AKA margarine. I had one of their breakfast sausage sandwiches made with their homemade bread. It was very good. Yep, the place is worth coming by and experiencing and if your thirst is greater than water, then they have the cantina next door. I am sure they can quench whatever thirst you may be suffering from that day. My thirst was quenched by the Florida tap. You'll probably see me here again. Look out for me. Who knows. I may be sitting next to you:)
Raymond A — Google review
Excellent food and service in cozy friendly setting. No frills decor but food options well worth the drive.
David S — Google review
Great Home Cooking. Great Atmosphere and Excellent service. Only downside was the Biskets....... They are more like Dinner Rolls and Not what someone would call a ( Southern ) Bisket.
Bill D — Google review
Unfortunately, my experience at this place was bad. I ordered pancakes, and they tasted like soap. There were eggs on the plate that I didn't order. I didn't eat them, returned them to the waitress, and explained her mistake. They charged me for them. My companion's breakfast also tasted awful and was of poor quality. I do not recommend this place in Brooksville, Florida. The prices are expensive for what they offer. There were flies in the restaurant, making it unbearable to eat with them around. The place is super cramped and uncomfortable. They have too many tables, and the waitresses serve you as if they were in a competition. I regret having chosen that place 😪 😕 Super noisy place, not comfortable at all.

I believe this is the world's best corn I love this place and they're fresh vegetables. When on opening day which is always crazy because everybody wants their corn but it is so worth buying a bushel you can freeze this stuff vacuum seal it it is the most delicious corn you've ever had. They have definitely mastered the best corn!
Liz R — Google review
It’s so nice to have local fresh produce, but it’s not only the great corn that keeps me coming back it’s the friendly people. From the gentleman that helped me pick out and bag up some corn with the assistance of a very nice young boy, to the friendly cashier. Two boys asked to help me carry my corn to the car, they were so very polite. While the corn at Frazier Farms is absolutely delicious it is the friendly community feel that keeps me coming back.

A great hometown family farm, where we always get all of the fresh farm goodies. On our last visit our two year old grandson was with us and was asked if he would like to pick an ear from the field? And he was on his way, mission accomplished and smiling from"ear to ear". Big thanks to the staff 😊

This is a star-shaped blue flower, with purple touch on its plates. Star-shape, blue-purple flowers decorate blue-eyed grass in spring and early summer. A wonderful plant for edging a walkway or the front of a cottage garden border, this compact perennial grows in a slowly spreading clump. Although “grass” is in its name, blue-eyed grass is actually in the iris family. Its sturdy leaves remain green and upright throughout the growing season.

Hernando Oaks Golf Club is one of the most popular golf courses in Florida, offering a fantastic layout with many holes that have character. The course features very large greens and well-defined fairways, with some tee boxes being over seeded with rye grass for the winter. The front 9 takes you through a housing area with homes lining most sides of the fairways. Visitors can also enjoy dining at the Grill Room, which serves continental breakfast for villa guests and lunch during the day.
This review is only of the clubhouse. We went on a Saturday night for the Advertised karaoke night which looks like they have once a month. It was packed because of a birthday party and just the regular karaoke crowd, I assume. The line up was 20+, so would have taken 1 1/2 to go through the rotation. We almost left to go to another local karaoke place, but thanks to "Jenna" ( I think that was her name) the bartender,we did end up staying for one song. She was a real sweet lady who convinced us to stick around and give it a try. She was extremely accommodating. There were no free tables available. She literally pick up a heavy table by herself and carried it out on deck so we could sit down. Who does that! Management should be glad to have her. Not to mention the girls working with her also helped with the chairs. Then she made me the most delicious coffee based mixed drinks ever. What an awesome lady. I wish I remembered her actual name. It sounded like " Jean- na". Anyway the KJ was also great. He was cheerful, engaging with the crowd, happy, accommodating, and worked the rotation well. He even had a great lighting set up, which most KJs are too lazy to even set up. The sound was great too. Definitely a good hire for the club. We ordered coconut shrimp 🦐 and wings. They were pretty good. Nothing special, but good enough for going out drinking and karaoke 🎤 night good. Would I recommend this Golf club as a night out for karaoke? Yes! Definitely! We will return for sure next month. It feels very satisfying to find a new venue to cut loose and sing at. Well done Hernando Oaks!!
Cruz M — Google review
I have been golfing here since this place opened and it has gone downhill so bad. My round today was $67 and I will not be going back. The tee boxes on the front 9 are dirt and the greens are garbage. Hole 7 par 3 has a green full of dirt. For the money, go to Rivard 100%. Hernando Oaks is a rip off. There are worse areas on the course than the pictures I posted.
Edward L — Google review
The course layout is great and challenging. Several crowned greens ( which are always fun for double bogeys), Great golf carts - gas, but very quiet with premium seats. Biggest drawback was 4:40 round....
Dan G — Google review
The course was fine. The fairways were very long and soft, letting the ball be mostly covered in grass. Off the rough on every hole was uncut rough that is impossible to find a ball in there, so bring some extras. The staff was great, however the Ranger did nothing about a slow 5-some that wouldn't let my 2-some play through.
Chris W — Google review
Very nice golf course good layout and very challenging from just about any set of Tees. Greens are big and undulated but not fast, would say medium speed but again just a really set up. If they tuck the pins on certain holes this course could be very difficult! Bunkers were a little bit lacking as well as teeing area but still very enjoyable place to play.

The coup in rse is in pretty poor condition, particularly the tee boxes. They were muddy, lacking turf and one even had deep tire tracks. The greens were spotty - missing grass. Great hot dogs though.

My kids and I got matching tattoos here. Clay did an amazing job on all 3 of them. He was patient and very reasonable on prices. We will definitely be back. I will only go to Clay now for all my tattoos. Thanks a lot!

My fiancé and I got a few tattoos this past weekend and was very impressed with Clay! He is definitely a great artist! We live a few hours away but will definitely be back for more work. The shop was very clean, reasonably priced and just a real chill environment.

One of the best shops in central Florida. Plain & simple. All of the artists here are incredible, beautiful people who love what they do & you can see that as soon as you walk. The vibes are amazing, the shop is beautifully decorated with art & always kept super clean. Lenny is the man, Kelly & Emily are incredible & Max welcomes you & makes you feel right at home soon as you come in. Can’t recommend Rusted jade enough & I always look foward to getting tattooed here.

This review is for Lenny, who i highly recommend! From the moment I walked into Rusted Jade, i was impressed. The shop is clean, welcoming, and has a fantastic vibe. Lenny’s artistry is truly exceptional. His lines are incredibly clean and precise, and his color work is vibrant and stunning. The level of detail is simply amazing. I am absolutely thrilled with my tattoo and would recommend Lenny and Rusted Jade to anyone looking for a high-quality tattoo.

Every experience I’ve had with this shop has been phenomenal. Not only is the shop, beautiful with an amazing atmosphere of quality, but the staff, has been by far one of the genuine group of artists I’ve seen in a long time ! I’ve had the pleasure of getting tattoos from the owner Lenny, and their newest addition Rayna, but I’m looking forward to adding more in the near future. You can tell each artist has a unique style and Aesthetic. They definitely take pride in being a part of the local community and culture. It’s not surprising that they host various events to celebrate and expand the whole experience of this cozy environment. Whether you come get a tattoo, buy something unique , or explore a new skill. This place is definitely the place to be and I’m definitely grateful to have had such beautiful tattoos done.

Came in and got this piece with Rayna :))) Absolutely love how comfortable I felt in the studio, all the artists were super nice and respectful; Rayna did an amazing job and I will most definitely be back in a few months to get it mirrored on the other thigh <33

RJAC is a great shop for the community. Half of their shop is an art gallery where they hold different events throughout the year. Some of the events specialize with children as well. They sell merch of local artists which is fabulous. The other half of the shop is tattooing. This portion of the shop is always clean. All of their artists are great;I personally used the owner, Lenny. They are all professional and do great work. Though one thing they don’t seem to have in stock to use on clients is any form of Saniderm. I personally prefer this for my healing tattoos so knowing they don’t often use or carry it, I would bring my own. The only thing I would say about this shop is beware of their cancelation policy. They are transparent in their policy guidelines in every confirmation of appointment automated message they send out. However the policy is if you cancel 24 hours before your appointment, you are automatically charged 50% of your time slot at $150 an hour. I ended up with a lingering cough that wouldn’t allow me to sit through my scheduled 4 hour booked tattoo session/free touch up and tried to change my appointment the morning of to something that would take less time (I only wanted something small and had mention this to my artist a week before my appointment). I stated I would wear a mask and did not want to waste any time or money. The shop ultimately stated that because I was sick, it was best I stayed home and that I would be charged 50% of my appointment of my time booked of 4 hours because I had not reached out to the shop when I initially got sick in the beginning of the week. In total, I was charged $300 for this appointment (that may not have used the full 4 hours and a portion was a free touch up on previous work from the owner) and if I had rescheduled, I would have not had the money to go back to spend more money. They do not bend this policy, as they are a mom and pops shop, who rely on clientele to be committed to appointments and need to make up canceled appointments by having said policy. Life is too unpredictable and sadly a policy like this will defer me from returning to the shop.

Brooksville Main Street is a vibrant hub of events and activities throughout the year. From parades to carriage rides at Christmas, outdoor concerts, and Small Business Saturday, there's always something happening. The town also hosts the popular Brooksville Blueberry Festival with live entertainment, numerous vendors, and delicious food options. With over 110 vendors in Downtown Brooksville and an open-air market making a comeback after several years, there's plenty to explore.
Brooksville Blueberry Festival was very nice. My girlfriend and I had a great time checking out most of the vendors,we arrived mid afternoon. We did get to see a awesome band play "We Are South 75" they were so awesome and wonderful. They even wished me Happy Birthday. We were able to get photo with them as well as Autograph pictures. The food vendors had a great selection of food to choose from. I even met a wonderful young author named Chris who is Autistic. I look forward to coming back next year

Enchiladas Mexican Restaurant is a delightful family-owned gem that brings the vibrant flavors of Mexico and Tex-Mex to Brooksville. This upbeat eatery serves an array of mouthwatering dishes, from classic tacos and burritos to sizzling fajitas and their signature enchiladas, all crafted with fresh, high-quality ingredients. Second time dining at Enchiladas Mexican Restaurant and it was a pleasant experience. Our server Presley was very friendly and hospitable. She made great recommendations on food selections. Food and drinks were brought out promptly and looked great. Food had excellent flavor & presentation. Definitely recommend dining here if you are visiting or traveling through Brooksville. Look forward to dining there again next time I’m in the area.

Had lunch here while doing the Florida C2C bike trail. My mail was very good and reasonably priced. They had some of the freshest salsa that I have ever tasted. Clean and casual. Very friendly wait staff. Happy hour specials from 3 pm to 6 pm. Enjoy

Really good food. Prices were good and service was good. I liked the rice beans that came with the quesadilla. Good sized portions. Beer and wine only, and Pepsi products. Parking could be a little better, but place is centrally located in downtown Brooksville. Got the chimichanga and steak quesadilla.

We were driving through Brooksville and decided to stop in and try Enchiladas. We were greeted by the friendly waitstaff who invited us to sit where we wanted to. The restaurant was comfortable and we were immediately provided complimentary chips and salsa, both obviously homemade and extremely flavorful. They have an extensive, reasonably priced menu and the wide array of menu choices made it easy for us to find good options. The entrees arrived quickly and were delighted by both the presentation and skilled use of seasoning. We will definitely be back!

I asked for a tostada and was told quote "they have those at Taco Bell" I asked about the difference between a "Taco " & their "Mex Taco" staff informed me that the Mex Taco has meat onions with cilantro/ while the regular Taco has lettuce cheese and tomato. I find it odd the Mex Taco cost more with less ingredients. I ordered queso it had absolutely no peppers or flavor and chunk of unmelted cheese inside (which seems it was old or scraped from the bottom of the barrel.) As far as Mexican restaurants go I would not suggest anyone to go there for authentic Mexican cuisine. Hence I didn't see any Mexican workers or customers 😩🙄props to the one young Man who served me was very pleasant and attentive while the cashier not so much.

This jewel conveniently across from the courthouse brightened my day facing the inevitable. Food was great against all the warning signs of location is everything. Food was way to cheap and restaurant way to busy for these tacos to stand a chance. They food was surprisingly delicious and service was excellent (Presley) well slammed rather handed me a menu explaining speacials and took my Togo order with ease and back of the house cranking food out in neat timely fashion. I will definitely return

Second time in three weeks the food was amazing. They really have their kitchen in order now. Great local Mexican eatery. We brought a friend from Austin Texas tonight and he said it was very good on par with Texas restaurants. I thought that was very high praise. Try it out.

This place was average. Not bad, not great. The building needs a new drop ceiling as all the tiles were drooping and stained. Our waitress was nice when she was there, but we didnt see her much after ordering. We ran out of drinks way too often. The steak in all the dishes was overcooked and chewy, but it did have a good taste. The cheese sauce on the smothered burrito was good. The guac (in the burrito) made leftovers very sour from the lime. The jalapeño wasn't roasted enough and when we asked them to roast it a bit more it came back charred. The shrimp and peppers were pretty good. While it wasn't specifically a bad experience, it wasn't good enough to warrant a return trip as we would likely opt for trying a new place instead of coming back here.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Main Street Eatery in Brooksville is an absolute gem! I stopped in for a meal and was truly blown away. The rice and beans were exceptional — perfectly seasoned, comforting, and clearly made with care. You can really taste the love in the cooking. What made the experience even better was the service. The staff were so friendly, welcoming, and attentive without being overbearing. It felt like they genuinely cared that I had a good experience. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, making it a great spot to relax and enjoy a delicious meal. I’m so glad I found this place, and I’ll definitely be returning. Highly recommend to anyone looking for great food and heartfelt service in Brooksville!

Really cute, comfortable, homey, old fashioned, home-town feeling in this place. The lady who brought us menus has lots of personality. She makes you feel like old friends. The only thing that was a little less than expected was that my mandarin orange slices were from a fruit cup purchased at a store. It was served in the plastic cup without the lid. I expected it to be fresh fruit, not packaged. That was the only thing I was a little disappointed about. The rest of it was nice. Cozy, low cost, nice lunch here. Great decorations. Right on the street. Indoor and outdoor seating options.

The Cuban sandwich was perfectly pressed with a crispy crust and juicy layers of ham, pork, and pickles that melted together beautifully. The Cajun bean soup had just the right amount of spice, rich and comforting without being heavy. To finish, the peanut butter pie was creamy, decadent, and had a flaky crust that tied everything together. Every bite felt like comfort food made with care — definitely a place worth returning to.

Main Street Eatery is our go-to lunch spot — we eat here several times a month and it never disappoints! Peggy and her team are just the best. The atmosphere is always welcoming and full of friendly, upbeat energy. Everyone on staff is so sweet, outgoing, and fun — it honestly feels like visiting family. Now let’s talk about the food… everything is so fresh and made with love. My personal favorite? The chicken salad sandwich toasted on wheat and fully loaded with pickles — hands-down the best sandwich I’ve ever had! And don’t even get me started on the desserts… the homemade blueberry cobbler and Key Lime icebox pie are both amazing, but that peanut butter pie? Pure heaven. Just like something grandma would make. If you haven’t been yet, you’re missing out on one of Brooksville’s best-kept secrets. I can’t recommend Main Street Eatery enough — it’s everything a small-town eatery should be and more!

I can't even begin to explain how enjoyable this place is to eat. Everyone who works there has a big smile on there face. I have driven past this place countless time on the way home from work. Today my wife and I decided to give it a try. The parking lot is the only odd thing, just park out back and walk around to the front. Since it faces main street. I got the Cuban and my wife got a chicken salad sandwich then we split a very good piece of peanut butter pie. The food was great and the prices are average. But I think its the general atmosphere here that is most enjoyable. You can serve great food but if you got a scrappy server it ruins everything. I didn't get our servers name but she was really the loudest server there lol. Very good time we will be back 4 sure

Located in Brooksville, FL, Mountaineer Coffee is a hipster-chic coffee shop that stands out among its historic downtown neighbors. Founded in 2013 by Daniel and Darby Pritz, this establishment is committed to providing the quaint town with top-quality daily roasted beans. The dedicated husband and wife team's experience in running another coffee shop led them to start roasting their own beans under the name Mountaineer Coffee.
Fantastic service and even better coffee. My husband loved the blueberry muffin. Vegan coffee options but no vegan food options. What a blessing in Brooksville! We’re currently displaced because of the hurricane and finding a cool spot like this that makes us feel like we are at home. I can’t wait to go back. Good espresso is hard to find!

Nestled in the heart of Brooksville, The Lazy Maid Crêperie is a charming family-owned eatery that brings a taste of France to your plate. With an enticing menu featuring both sweet and savory crepes crafted from fresh ingredients, this delightful spot caters to every palate. Whether you're indulging in a rich Nutella-filled crepe or exploring unique savory combinations, each dish is prepared with creativity and care.
Absolutely love this place. Environment, staff, and selection is so warm and inviting! Truly feels like a family. Crepes are buttery soft and each is certainly made with passion. Chef is very detail-oriented, the lace on the outside of each crepe is so cute 🥹🩷. Menu is great, variety of selection, including vegetarian options (ask your server for more info!). Crepes are always delicious, the taste profiles for any savory or sweet option absolutely work together perfectly, and I love coming with my boyfriend to try new crepes and fun drinks each month! Besides the crepes, don’t even get me started on the speciality coffees! Nowhere I’ve gone yet has been able to top the coffees here. I don’t know what they put on the Espresso Yourself, but it is delightful! 😭🫶🏻 I love bringing family here and inviting friends. The atmosphere and food are top notch, and it never disappoints. I love the staff here too; so friendly and welcoming 🥹. Decor is incredible, and every corner (and dish!) is Pinterest-worthy, so come prepared with instagram inspo pics! Every time I go, I have to take a photo of my plate 😋 Overall, amazing place; great food, beautiful people, and enchanting atmosphere. Absolutely recommend to anyone!

Super cute little spot! Food and coffees were great! Very busy on weekends so best to expect to wait a bit. The service is all very friendly but just think they could work on the seating procedure and wait times for food a bit better. For example 4 couples waiting for tables for 20-30 mins but a party of 6 arrives and get sat immediately because there was a larger table available right away. Other than those minor inconveniences, great place!

This establishment is absolutely amazing! The food is outstanding. I got the French girl coffee normally I have 2 cups of coffee every morning I only needed 1 with this one. I got the strawberry crepe it was so filling. When you go make sure you check out the bathrooms they are so adorable. This is a quaint place to go. Oh and make sure you check out the floors in each room they are hand painted.

The Lazy Maid Crêperie is a true hidden gem that captures the charm of France in every detail. From the moment you step inside, you’re met with enchanting décor that feels both whimsical and elegant an atmosphere that makes every visit special. Their crêpes are nothing short of extraordinary. Light, delicate, and authentically French, yet elevated with a diverse menu that caters to every mood and craving. I especially love the monthly specials they offer they're always creative, thoughtful, and a nice surprise that keeps me coming back. The coffee deserves its own applause, their espresso is rich, smooth, and crafted with more care than I’ve found in most cafes. It’s the perfect pairing with any crêpe, whether you’re in the mood for something sweet, savory, or both. What makes The Lazy Maid even more exceptional is its inclusivity. With vegetarian, gluten-free, and customizable options, they make sure everyone can enjoy a meal tailored to their needs without sacrificing flavor or quality. It’s rare to find a place that balances authenticity, creativity, and hospitality so seamlessly, but The Lazy Maid Crêperie has done exactly that. A must-visit for anyone who loves good food served in a beautiful setting.
Azari D — Google review
We visited this restaurant for the first time for Sunday breakfast and found the delightful exterior to be the nicest part. Unlike the building (absolutely beautiful renovation and decorations), there is a veneer masking the fact that they microwave their food. The chicken in my crepe was clearly pulled from a bag of Sam’s club tenders, microwaved, and then placed on the griddle to cover but it just focused it more. It’s frustrating as I really want this business to succeed but we do have a strong competition locally. The waitress we had was very nice, but we heard the chef shouting at his staff and singling them out in the kitchen. I now know somebody likes to go outside and vape for 20 minutes. I shouldn’t know that about the staff. Additionally, the owner sat behind the counter and gossiped with the wait staff 5 feet from our table and we couldn’t enjoy a private breakfast. None of the meal held up to the promise of their social media. Mine was haphazardly put together, and the chicken distinctly different from what they posted. We are in the American south - homemade food should be a given. The only portion good was my wife’s blueberry crepe and even then it was half whipped cream. There is a strong tradition of quality they’ve tried to co-opt by positioning themselves as a French restaurant. But it doesn’t deliver or at least didn’t for us. I really want to like this, I love when local businesses win. It just did not win my business today.
Michael C — Google review
We didn’t have a very good experience. Unfortunately, it looks like we went on a very busy day & time BUT the kitchen messed up our order and the crepes were cold, only thing that was hot was my soup. We waited more than a half out for a table & an hour and a half for food which probably didn’t help. They’ve had a lot of hype on the news and Instagram recently but definitely can’t handle the weekend traffic like today. I ordered the Monte Christo, but somehow got my wife’s roast beef in my crepe. It looks like my wife got my ham & turkey instead of getting the ham and roast beef for the Monsieur Havana. No confusion on our end but the host tried to convince us otherwise (it’s clear on the menus what meats should be on each item). A simple I’m sorry let me see what I can do would’ve been a better solution than trying to cover the mistake. But she did “let the kitchen know”!!! The Lazy Maid Creperie is a cute place and it would probably be best to visit on a weekday. Hopefully you’ll have a better dining experience than we did. Too long of a wait, too long waiting for food and unfortunately the kitchen messed up both orders and the food could’ve at least been warm. We did point this out but no manager addressed it.

Hungry Howie's Pizza & Subs is a beloved counter-service pizzeria chain that stands out for its unique flavored crusts, including options like sesame and garlic herb. Many loyal customers rave about the consistent quality of their orders, noting that they have never been disappointed with either the food or the service. Even those who live outside of delivery zones are willing to make a drive just to enjoy their delicious offerings.
Always on point, orders always correct. We've frequented this location many times over the last few months on varying days and early evening and have never been disappointed or unsatisfied with the quality, quantity, and customer service. Although we live in Spring Hill, close to County Line, it is still our preferred location and worth the drive. Consistency, correctness, and outstanding customer service has had us coming back even with we'd rather not leave the house. I understand accidents happen, maybe others have experienced less than stellar outcomes from ordering here, but we personally haven't ran into any problems any time we've ordered. Maybe a fluke, maybe a twist of cosmic fate, but the killer staff at this location have become our dinner heroes and we are happy with their above and beyond work ethic. I gave the atmosphere 3 stars because it's a no frill, less thrills pizza establishment. Not looking for flashy lights, a choregraphed dance number, or expensive decor on the walls. I'd rather have the good food, great customer service, and get on with my hunger needs. There's ample room inside and benches to sit on, so if you need to sit and wait, there's that. Recently a fire broke out in the shopping strip this location is housed in putting it out of commission for a while as it needs to be renovated and cleaned up. Why we are saddened by the loss of good food at our favorite Hungry Howie's, we know they will come back swinging and ready to get customers fed. We pray the awesome employees can maintain and get back on their feet quickly. Thank you Brooksville Hungry Howie's for all you do and we look forward to seeing you once again when everything is back up and running.

I Order a Pizza through Uber Eats. I got the wrong Pizza. I call them and they tell me the Pizza is there with the topping I selected. When I explain that I have got a Pizza and it is the wrong Pizza the guy says "That is an issue between you and Uber Eats." How could you mess up a Pick Up Pizza Order with one topping? Then admit it by saying the Pizza is there for you with the one topping. The Pizza I Ordered was more expensive that the Pizza I received.

I don't know if this place is under new ownership or just decided to send their calls overseas but, buyer beware, I just placed an order gave some random foreigner my card who then proceeded to transfer me to the physical store, did I mention he pushed a button that beeped when I read my card, his reason for transferring me was to place my order that he just took, he lied and said they couldn't take the order but he damn sure charged my card, scammy if you ask me, wait it gets better the manager at the broolsville store said there was no order but his suggestion is place the order again. Not even addressing the fact they already charged me $42. I refuse to ever order from them again I been ordering from this location for 10 years, this incident feels like credit card fraud calling my bank and disputing. Be careful ordering on the phone feom them it's very sketchy.

Hungry Howies is always good! The only thing wrong is that there are no Hungry Howie's near us and we live out of their delivery zone. I have to drive about 21 miles to get their pizza, but it's that good.

Smallest chicken wings ever! The large ones are from Zaxbys. Update 10-4-19. Just ordered the Pizza Sub. Pathetic! Nothing even on it! This is the last time we will ever order from this location.

Our Hungry Howies locale in Brooksville Fl. had a large two topping pizza deal $8.99 per pizza. We ordered two pepperoni and bacon pizzas and one sausage and bacon pizza. My husband went to pick it up and was charged $36.00 and some change. After he got home we called and were told that bacon is an upcharge $3.00 per pizza! Which I was never informed of. Next time we will be taking our business to Pizza Hut!! Adding a photo of the receipt which doesn’t show an up charge or for that matter any totals

Nice. Out doors is really shady and they had huge fans up. Stage is nice. Dance floor. Great for family fun. (we were part of a memorial benefit that was held there and it went very, well) We didn't eat. Thanks to staff and all that participated. 🙂

No food ! But a regular customer Karen brought in Buffalo chicken dip for the football game. Bobbie the bartender is awesome ! Going again soon !

This is one of our usual stops on the way back from an epic ride through north central Florida. The drinks are always ice-cold here and the bloody-Mary never disappoints. There is plenty of shaded parking all around the place and sometimes you'll find a campfire lit. If you dont like sitting outside go on in and enjoy a game of pool or darts in the air conditioning or just sit back and enjoy some biker war stories.

Great local bar. Bartenders have your drinks on the counter before you even order them. Love that. People are extremely friendly. Can't think of a place I'd like to go to more . This was Halloween night and I wore vintage 1930s gown. Julie wore vintage 1960s. Had a blast.

I left a 5 star review a few months ago , unfortunately this Brooksville Publix is a disaster. My husband & I just left in disbelief from the produce section they don’t sell bay leaves fresh from the refrigerator which I purchase every week, besides tried to order a pasta brand Flora I never received a call if they can get it or not it’s been a month . This Publix is always always out of many products being a Floridian it’s extremely disappointing we all know about the New residents but your Publix doesn’t keep up with any orders and terrible customer service & remarks of we don’t sell that is common in your store . Very sad and disappointing. Should be a ZERO

The fairgrounds also host unique events like a Cirque show.
Went to the monster truck show. The entire family loved it. We were able to get up close to the trucks prior to the show. Got to know the drivers. Even got to ride in a monster truck. One of the trucks blew an engine. They put on a great show. My only recommendation is to have some tables near the food trucks.

We came for the Hernando Invasion car show. I have never seen such a disorganized group. Their ad says free admission but we had to pay $10.00 to park! No one is directing cars where to park. Only one bathroom. The show cars parked where they wanted to. Not a lot of cars there. When we were ready to leave there was only one exit. We had to drive through the crowd and all the vendors which were set up on the roadway. Then there was the closed gate. But some one did come open it. The road was blocked by folks coming into the show. It sure would have been nice to have a police officer directing traffic trying to turn right on a high speed roadway. I wonder how many accidents happened that day.

We went on the 4th of July for the demo derby and fireworks and it was a pleasant experience. It was a very hot day so we couldn't really enjoy the outdoor activities much and kept the kids inside the buildings where they had crafts and corn hole game. The demo derbie was AWESOME and the kids LOVED IT! The fireworks show was very nice as well... not too short and not too long. All in all, we will be back again!

A few drops to test for hotness and then small pour. This is tasty stuff. A little hot, probably around as much as a habanero. Not all fire, this has depth and deliciousness, bringing out the flavor of my omelet in a nice way. I would definitely look for this on the shelves. Yum.

They lie about what's happening. They don't update your address when you give it to them. Then they send your private information to the wrong house. When you don't get the mail from them it's somehow your fault even though you did everything you could to make sure that they had your information. The civil court judge sides with abusers and won't grant injunctions when your life is in danger. Absolutely abhorrent excuse for a justice department.
Tristan R — Google review
I was taken in to jail for a warrant of my arrest. (It was never on my records, even when they try to search for it, they couldn't find it.) And, I choose not to fight the case in the end. (Because, I'm trying to focus on myself, and get back in my feet and, I'm fully aware that, I'm innocent before God.) I was released. Just to find out, that, the warrant for my arrest was actually false, and the person (A certain officer) that submitted the warrant for my arrest, falsely claim that the victim (A family member) wanted to press charges against me. And, I Just found out, they never wanted to press charges to begin with, since, it wasn't even that serious. And, they wasn't aware about the incident about me. (I'm Homeless, from a different state, abandoned from my own blood relatives, after so many years of abuse, now in the state of FL, with no source of Cash income. Yet, there's possibly a chance, they want me to pay up a court fee. With, what money? Very sad, what this country has become.) :|

I completed every step of the process to get my name legally changed and when it was finally time to have a date scheduled to go in front of a judge for it, I never had a date sent to me and couldn't reach anyone by phone or email. I kept getting transferred from person to person or just completely ignored. Now I'm still stuck with a name that isn't mine and I was so close to the finish line. Really bummed. I only put 2 stars instead of one because the woman at the courthouse who helped get all my paperwork filed was very nice and supportive.
Starry — Google review
I could not believe how rude and unhelpful some of the people are on the phone, and even in person. It was unreal. It was like she DID NOT WANT to answer my questions and dead silence on the phone. I came in there as a victim of crimes, and I got ALMOST NO HELP on how to navigate the courts. Due to lack of help, the freak who shoots dogs for sport got no punishment, who also left my autistic child traumatized and my family had to live in fear. I'm considering moving out of Hernando County. The police here also failed us. In this county and many others be prepared for the police to not act on gun crimes, in our case, myself and the children were being stalked by a freak using gun fire (and other methods such as assault) in a threatening manner right next to my house. Of course why wouldn't he, he knew he could shoot dogs for sport and get away with it, even with a witness. We have remedied this situation by installing video surveillance all over our lot and installing shipping containers to block bullets from hitting our house. This has cost us around $30,000. When I called Hernando police for help, the "police officer" on the phone defended the guy stalking me and was concerned his guns would be taken away if I asked for an Order of Protection (restraining order). Since the weirdo "officer" on the phone let me know that he cares more about this freak keeping his guns then my family being shot by him, I then called Dawn Center which is free legal help for female victims of stalkers. However, they don't help if they are neighbors, it needs to be your boyfriend or husband. So I took him to court but due to lack of help chose the wrong type of Order of Protection. Otherwise a lawyer was going to charge me $5000. I don't see why a victim would need to pay $5000 to stop myself and family from being stalked. Anyways, taking him to court scared him and he stopped the behavior but I did not get a restraining order because I chose the wrong type of petition. But do know in this county, without a lawyer, you will not succeed in a stalking case or in a small claims court case, even with photos, witnesses, police reports. I don't fault the judge who handled the restraining order case, it was the staff at the front that couldn't tell me if it was a Repeat Violence or Stalking type of Order of Protection. I was so exhausted doing this myself. By the way, do not bother with a small claims court case in this county. When you come into court with actual photos of the damaged property and obvious the neighbors equipment damaged your fence because you can see it poking through your fence in the photo, the judge doesn't do anything and in a round about way tells you that you need to hire a lawyer. So you've paid hundreds of dollars to this joke of a county court, to get nothing for your damages. Judge Judy puts this court to shame. For some odd reason, she and every other small claims court is able to make a judgment call with substantial evidence. Don't waste your money, just realize that in this county you will be forced to hire a lawyer.

Worse bowling alley I have been to. I came here because it had good reviews and I was highly disappointed. From the street you can’t tell it’s a bowling alley and when you are walking in it’s dirty. The inside isn’t much better. I went around 6pm on a weekday and it took me like 10 minutes for someone to come to the register and give us a lane there were like 3 people working there and I was literally the only customer. You could see the kitchen from the register and it looked dirty so I didn’t order any food. Now as far as the lanes go they are poorly maintained. The lanes were super dry, the pin setter kept knocking down pins I had to keep resetting it, the lane floor looked kind of warped. Only thing that worked correctly was the score board and the ball return. I feel like this used to be a good bowling alley at one point and management completely neglected it now it’s like a dive bar with a bowling alley in it.

This is my third time coming back to this wonderful and mysterious gem. I love how unique everything is and the two ladies that have been working there since I have gone are sweethearts. There is so much to do and they even mentioned how they will be opening up later in the evenings due to the summer heat. That said, ice-cream was delicious, animals were taken care of like royalty and loved how you can even partake in giving them snacks, and there is so much to look at you always feel like your missing out if you turn a different way. Would recommend this place for all ages🥰

We came there only to feed the animals I wasn’t expected there a museum and different corridors. I mean I think it’s unnecessary stuff in my opinion looked kinda creepy and I didn’t understand all random rooms especially aquarium that only 2-3 tanks have fishes but we could feed some animals it was cute. There is no bag with food for you to feed them so they just give you a food to your hand with every animal. To feed most of them it wasn’t easy because you are mostly far from the cage and will not reach out to feed all of them. The conclusion?- It’s fine but just for once
Hanna S — Google review
We went to what I thought was a small zoo and mini golf course, we left this amazingly quirky, backroom infused, barage on your senses, museum of everything odd and wonderful with memories of strange but happy fun. The animals seem to be well fed and taken care of, and the mini golf course will leave the best players scratching their heads wondering how to make their next shot not be a lost cause.

What an interesting place with so many attractions. Its like a mix of an old history museum, ol timey roadside attraction, put putt, petting zoo, antiques roadshow extravaganza. There's so much to see throughout multiple buildings it's totally worth it just to see this beautifully bizarre attraction.

Have been here twice. It's a sight to see. Guide was a little off-putting with remarks about that they normally have children visitors. I WILL TELL YOU WITH MY FULL CHEST...if I was a kid this place would give me Nightmares! But maybe child eyes are more forgiving? I will be as honest as I can without giving away too much because it's an experience for sure. Bring Bug Spray/Hand Sanitizer for out by the Animals and know there's only a few that you can touch or pet. Staff provides some snacks for you to give them. I don't advise buying all the bags they list as options online for reservations $$$. Be prepared to be lost as well, so wear good shoes, have your phone charged for pics/flashlight and stay together.

Did a 8 mile hike there for two purposes. I am a wildlife photographer and wife getting ready for the AT. Mostly overcast and a good amount of trees for the added “reprieve “ from our Florida sun. All in all, a nice hike and was able to photograph the “elusive” Sherman’s Fox Squirrel. Some trail maintenance looks to be needed, however not too terribly bad. Definitely recommended…

The Withlacoochee Red Trail Loop is one of the most scenic trails around Tampa Bay that I have walked. It was cool weather so I didn't see much wildlife. I found the scenery was very nice, especially around the river. An added bonus is the tower along the path. I can see why the previous commenters were confused by the All Trails map. I found that I had to follow the orange blazes for 3/4 of the loop, then switched to follow the blue blazes. This is the only way I could stay on the All Trails path.

This state forest offers an abundance of destinations to enjoy nature. Cooler temperatures in October and November make those months my favorite time to hike and explore the forest. Photos and video accompanying this review were taken near the intersection of Stage Coach Trail and Citrus Way.

Chinsegut Hill Retreat and Conference Center is a splendid historical place with an expansive property, offering captivating walking and hiking trails. The site boasts remarkable old buildings, surrounded by citrus trees and towering bamboo. A visit to this must-see destination is highly recommended for families, but it's advisable to bring appropriate footwear and a lightweight stroller or hiking pack for babies due to varying terrain. Despite the slight challenge of maneuvering with a regular stroller, the experience is still worthwhile.
Finally got to take an official tour without "trespassing." Richard is an awesome tour guide. The home and property are breathtaking and offer a fascinating history. If you love old homes, old properties, and history it is more than worth a visit. Feels almost like you're in North Carolina in another time. The name itself means the place where things once lost are found again. How romantic is that? Also learned today that Raymond Robins who named the property went out searching for gold but found God instead. Funny how that works. While God is the greatest treasure we could ever find, this special place is worth stumbling upon if you do.

Great historic property with beautiful views and scenery. There are guided and self-guided tours available but I would suggest buying tickets in advance as they closed before we got there.

This is a beautiful piece of history. The manor is currently closed for repairs, I was told it is scheduled to reopen in September. The property features large plantation mansion with the most wonderful wraparound porch on the top and bottom floors. The top floor of the home hosts a museum with so much history, artifacts, letters and more. Many of the rooms have original furniture and decor. The property also has 7 cottages that each sleep 8. They have a living room, kitchen, dining room and 4 rooms with 2 twin beds. Each room had it's own bathroom. There is also a dining hall with a commercial kitchen, fire pit and classroom with a 100+ capacity. But to me, the stand out is the oak trees. 2 main trees have been named and hold great historical significance, but the property is glittered with stunning oaks and other plants. It would be a perfect location for a wedding or any other event. Looking forward to visiting again.

Was going to stop at the public walk (which I will do at another time), but then drove a little farther down the road and found that there's an old plantation with this area, Chinsegut Hill. Absolutely beautiful! You can walk around the huge yard and drives going under huge old trees. One even has a staircase as if your going to a tree house. Quiet... And a wonderful view

I visited here Saturday and was pleasantly suprised by the house and grounds. I was only able to see one room of the museum (the house is the museum) because I was told the a.c. was broke and their were no volunteers who would stay. That was pretty disappointing but I still quite enjoyed walking around the upstairs and downstairs porch, as well as walking around the property with so many gorgeous old oaks. I am looking forward to going back to hopefully see all of the museum and update this review to 5 stars!

Historic location in Brooksville. Family history of this often overlooked site is intertwined with Florida politics, prohibition, imancipation, and even ties into US relations with Soviet Russia. Tour is about an hour. May be hot in summer so dress for comfort.
DigiKill — Google review
Overjoyed to discover this hidden gem on a tranquil hillside near Brooksville. I attended a plant sale under the oaks but there are a lot of special events so I will be returning soon. The history of the house is fascinating. The staff was very helpful. I am looking forward to renting one of the cottages for a family retreat.

This was an absolutely beautiful place, really great piece of history, big property, great walking/hiking trails, awesome old historical buildings throughout. The citrus trees and MASSIVE bamboo were really cool to see! A definite MUST GO. Great for the whole family! We had a great time, suggest shoes and a lightweight stroller that can easily maneuver different terrain or a hiking pack to carry babies easily. We did it with a regular stroller which worked but it didn't like the different terrain changes much so it definitely required a little more energy to push ours 🤣 still worth it though. Bring water!! If it's a cooler day, bring bug spray I'm sure they will get bad.

Sparacia Witherell Family Winery & Vineyards in Brooksville offers a delightful wine tasting experience with a warm welcome from Kevin, who expertly guides visitors through their impressive wine selection. The vineyard provides a lovely view to the north and plenty of outdoor seating with live entertainment. They offer Mediterranean food truck options along with cheese, chips, and dried meats for purchase.
Had no idea what to expect. Pulled up to what looked like an old house with a big parking lot. I decided to check it out anyway. I got to the back entrance. And to my surprise, the view was intoxicating. The gentleman was singing and playing his guitar. If you were hungry, they had food trucks. Inside was wine tasting, in what looked like an over packed general store. The owners and staff were so polite and helpful. There were calendars of all sorts of events to include concerts and a two day camping and wine fest. I am not sure I am up for all they have to offer. But I can tell you; this will be a regular stop from now on.

Great wine selection overall and reasonable prices. Owner could be more pleasant. He's very dry and acts like you're bothering him despite paying him for an experience at his winery. Nice chill vibe with live music and food trucks.
Shiminka G — Google review
I really enjoyed the wine and appreciated how friendly the staff was. Their wines stand out, even among Florida’s fruit wines, and the outdoor area is great — set up on top of a hill. P.s. those with "+" are my top picks.

The winery hosts a lot of cover band shows. With the new stage and the new seating area it is a very enjoyable experience. We've seen The Ultimate RUSH tribute, The Ultimate Pink Floyd tribute, Skyn Folks and more. I'd highly recommend a night out to Sparicia winery!

Our second time going to the winery and it was just as good. We went to pick up some new/more wines and Chrissy was awesome. She explained the taste/ sweetness of each wine she served us so that we could make the best choice. Will definitely be back!!!

There's always something fun going on here! I wish I lived closer. Their wines a top notch and they also have a full blown wine shop with vino from all over the World.

This place is magical! Peaceful and either a great selection of wines and beers. I go every weekend, for live music or just to relax at this Brooksville mountain.

This is a good size winery that has a large spacious area with plenty of tables to sit at and listen to entertainment while sampling the wines. They have a large selection of wines available along with other drinks if wine is not your thing. The night we were there they had multiple food trucks and a fun entertainer who kept us all going for the evening. This is a bit of an out-of-the-way place so be sure to look up your directions before heading out. While we are in the area we will definitely be going back again!

The Chinsegut Wildlife Trail is a pleasant and easy path that winds around a picturesque marsh. The abundance of avian species is unexpectedly high, and the captivating views of the lake are its highlight. If time permits, it is highly recommended to visit the beautifully restored Chinsegut home and grounds located across from the trailhead. While the walk feels secluded, be aware that main roads are nearby, resulting in constant car noises throughout. The entire loop from the parking lot covers approximately 3.
It's a natural trail, really nice. However I didn't see any facilities. Love the sunset 🌇 at this location!.

Nice, but nothing special. A secluded walk however the main roads are nearby so you can hear cars the whole time. From the parking lot to a full loop without going off to the small paths is about 3.3 miles. Definitely worth at least a visit once.

One of the best trails I have been on. Very well maintained with different short trails to see the lake. It even has a boardwalk through a Cypress grove. There is even a duck blind you can sit in and watch the wildlife.

The McKethan Lake Recreation Area offers splendid vistas of the lake's scenery. Visitors have the option to either drive or walk along a brief 20-minute path encircling the lake, with a bridge serving as a convenient shortcut for pedestrians. Additionally, one can find enjoyment in the nearby swing by the restroom facilities. This park is truly exceptional, boasting charming pavilions that provide ideal settings for picnics and gatherings while overlooking the serene lake.
Nature trail is a two mile loop, mostly level and well maintained. It crosses over the lake. I could hear barred owls hooting to each other. Parking is $2, payable online.

Wonderful views of lake scenery. You can either drive around the lake or walk through a short 20 minutes’ trail surrounding the lake. You can use the bridge at one end of the lake functions as a shortcut when walking. You can also simply just enjoy the swing near the bathroom. We enjoyed a very relaxing and peaceful half afternoon there.

Super clean park, easy to navigate (only one way around the lake). Super cool to be able to facilitate an event here! We've been in business almost 10 years, and this was one of the most affordable locations that we have ever seen. We did not personally book the event, we just supplied the decorations and set up. Pavilion rental is an easy process, super affordable, and you have plenty of time. The entire park is extremely well clean, wildlife everywhere, with enough locations being far enough away, where you don't feel like you are trapped. The event we facilitated was first week of August, and with the shading provided by the trees, it did not seem to warm. Definitely a great location for those of you looking to have a wedding or an event on a budget. -FarmerAndTheDell.com

It was AWESOME!!!!!!!!! The trails are REAL BABY! Hills..trees...sand dunes....First time Atving in the sand. It was truly an experience. The guide was excellent. He took us out...showed us the routes....and we were on our way!!!!!!! The vehicles were safe and performed like they should. We were given gloves for grip and a mask for the dust and helmets. BMX riders were out doing stunts in the sand. It was fun! A must do!

Mr. Wood was a great host very informative and friendly. He gave a brief tour and ensured our safety. Afterwards you're on your own to enjoy the trail. The trail was sort of confusing however you take a picture of the map and should be able to find your way around. Best part of this ride was the deer I came across. I would recommend.

Tucker Hill is a part of Croom WMA and is located in the Withlacoochee State Forest. Croom WMA is located in Hernando and Sumter counties northeast of Brooksville, and encompasses more than 20,000 acres. This tract of the Withlacoochee State Forest lies along 13 winding miles of the Withlacoochee River and includes Silver Lake. Cypress and large expanses of longleaf pine dominate this forest. The trailheads here include hiking, horse, off-road bicycle, also Twin Pond and East Croom hunt camps are open seasonally. There are numerous recreational trails: hiking (31 miles), bicycling (64 miles), horseback riding (43 miles). The paved Withlacoochee State Trail goes through the area. The restrooms are clean and there is a bike wash area here. I saw wild turkey, Whitetail deer, gopher tortise, a rainbow snake crossing the paved trail and a variety of song birds. I enjoyed the day and I will be back!

Some of the best mountain biking trails in central Florida. This is not your typical flat Florida. There is 178 feet of elevation difference in this area. The trails are well marked, challenging and maintained by a local M. Biking club. There is a two dollar parking fee. Find the envelopes in a small metal box adjacent to the info kiosk Pay the fee as they have volunteers that will ticket you. Don’t miss a tiny family cemetery with all the birth and death dates except a few in the 1800s. It is an unmarked very short trail just adjacent to the hiking trail near the kiosk Croom hiking loop C is an 8 mile loop that will challenge the best with good elevation changes. Part of the trail cuts through a hunting camp with some small RVs and even a porta potty. You can cut 1.5 miles off the hike by taking this sand road as a shortcut. Very scenic. Lots of butterflies.

Bentley, my loyal dog, absolutely loves this place and would easily give it five stars for its fantastic sniffing opportunities. The trails are lined with a variety of interesting scents that keep him engaged and curious. We had a delightful time walking through the lush surroundings, enjoying the fresh air and the beautiful scenery. Each step brought new discoveries, and Bentley's excitement was contagious as he explored every nook and cranny. It was a wonderful outing for both of us!

This is a nice quiet park where you can have multiple activities. There is a boat ramp. If you decide that you want to go fishing plenty of parking. It’s kind of secluded kind of quiet. It does have a playground for kids. The restrooms are available. Nothing else much going on here. It is kind of small, but it is connected to a trail. If you have a bike or you’re gonna be walking

It is one of the most peaceful places in Florida. Nice little dock that goes add on to the lake unfortunately no seating area out on the lake but there is a entrance to the lake it's very Gravely and lots of potholes but if you are good at boating you can launch from that location. There's a couple of picnic tables close to the lake, but most of the park is out towards the front of the road. The preserve that outlines the lake is really beautiful, with giant cypress trees. There are always a variety of different kinds of birds. Today, I got to meet Winnie, who was a beautiful horse. She took a 3-mile ride from the stable to come cool off in the lake. I just happened to find this place on a road trip. But it is a great place if you want to put on a kayak or a small boat. Or you can relax and fish off the pier. It's a peaceful place. Remember when you come to the park you have to drive to the back where it says boat ramp. It's just a little park with the trail that goes through it!! Don't forget the bug spray it is a preserve . And also not a swimming spot. There are definitely Gators

Nice park and resting area along the Withlacoochee trail if you are cycling.🚴‍♂️ It's about 15 miles from Inverness to the north, and 16 miles to Owensboro to the south and end of the trail. There is water available, and the restrooms are clean. It also has a beautiful swampy section where the boat-ramp is located with a good-sized fishing dock. I have launched kayaks from this area. Great fishing here, but watch out for gators. They can get quite close.

We Conoed from Silver Lake to Lake Townsen Preserve and it was absolutely stunning the whole time. We saw plenty of alligators and even had a very close encounter with a very big one that could've gone badly, but thankfully it didn't 🤣 all-in-all it was about a 7 mile conoe trip and we loved it. Plenty of open areas as well as some narrow areas of the river and there was even a downed tree that caused us to have to get onto the tree and lug our conoe over which wasn't as hard as it sounds and felt very adventurous. It was a very fun and beautiful adventure!

This off the beaten path park is a peaceful place to enjoy real Florida. We usually come here on weekdays when it's not crowded and quiet. The fishing pier affords beautiful views of the Withlacoochee river. Some trails are pleasantly shaded and have covered picnic tables or benches to take a break. Ammenities include - ↪️ Restrooms ↪️ Boat ramp (fee required) & fishing pier 🎣 ↪️ Pavilions with grills as well as many picnic tables ↪️ Hiking, biking, and equestrian trails ↪️ Playground, basketball court, and volleyball court ↪️ Baseball field

Nice park with lots of trees and a playground. There is multiple baseball fields and a larger stadium field for football & soccer in the main park, basketball court, and sidewalks around the fields. Close to entrance on the south side is a separate road for another field in the trees and parking for the main practices fields.

This park is kind of out there, not much else around. The playground is nice and appears to be the same model as Kennedy Park. The playground is pretty far from the restrooms and water fountain so it kind of a pain. It's not fenced so not good for runners or kids with special needs. There was plenty of shade and the parking lot was big enough for larger vehicles like rvs.

It's a great little park to go to but it’s in dire need of some things to be fixed one the rock steps going up on the kids slide looks like they tried to do a quick fix by putting tape on it but they’re rotted and needs to be replaced as you can see from the picture, but other than that it’s a nice little park to come to there fixing all these other parts but why not this one right here in town they doing all that massive work over at Tom Varn park

This beautiful park has been handed over to the homeless population. This park used to be great for families, but now it’s full of homeless camps, human waste, and the pavilion by the playground is always occupied by people sleeping on the picnic benches/tables. My kids even almost hit a sleeping person while playing disc golf. It’s sad to see it like this — I hope the city takes action soon.

Very small and broken park would not recommend to anyone at leats the kids had some fun at the swing.
Rochelle A — Google review
Everytime I've been here lately there are homeless men at the pavilion which doesn't bother me. What bothers me is when they're so drunk they can hardly walk, they're slurring their words, and trying to interact with my kids (while falling everywhere) in an attempt to "butter me up" to ask me for spare change for alcohol. They're even lining the walking trails on the picnic tables and sleeping in vehicles in the parking lot. It's not a comfortable experience to say the least. Hernando needs to do something, maybe investing in low cost or free substance abuse rehabilitation?
Rebecca K — Google review
A beautiful little spot with plenty of things to do. Tennis courts, plenty of open spaces, bathrooms, a few walking trials, a little pins with a couple fountains, too! Walk the trails to the west a little bit and you'll find a 2nd park connected with baseball fields, a huge wooden playground great for kids! Plenty of parking and even basketball courts at the 2nd park (Tom Vern park, I believe it's called). Prefect place for a picnic and there are public grills to use as well!
