Shopping mall
Shopping
Shopping Paris is a contemporary shopping center in Paraguay that offers four floors of shops, restaurants, and a high-tech game arcade. It is known as a tax-free haven and attracts locals from neighboring countries like Brazil and Argentina due to its lower prices. Visitors should bring cash as most transactions are in USD, with credit cards incurring an additional 20% charge at most shops. While some stores may offer similar products at different prices, it's recommended to shop around and negotiate for the best deals.
We are staying over on the Argentinian side and we went over to Paraguay to shop for the day we went to the China shop and the parish shop. We stopped and had lunch at the Paris shops. There is a food court that has quite a few places to choose from. The place is quite big. We couldn't quite understand the layout of the mall to know if we saw all the places, but from American standpoint there were some good deals but then there's some stuff that's priced even more than what we pay. Very interesting to walk around
Elizabeth S — Google review
Massive shopping centre with a food court on one of the higher levels. There is also a games arcade and cinema. So many shops but not much personality as a centre. I wouldn’t go out of my way to come here again, but it was ok for a quick walk through and very close to the border with Brazil.
Tomas Z — Google review
The Commercial Department Store at Shopping Paris in Paraguay is an excellent shopping destination. With a wide variety of shops catering to all needs, it offers a pleasant shopping experience. You'll find stylish clothing, accessories, electronics, and much more. Prices are usually reasonable, with options for every budget. Furthermore, the atmosphere is friendly and the location is easily accessible. If you're looking for a pleasant shopping experience, the Commercial Department Store at Shopping Paris in Paraguay is an excellent choice.
KATERINA L — Google review
Very large shopping center, close to the border. There is a parking lot and a good selection of no, name and brand products. For me it was a little confusing. However, finding your way around the mall is a disaster. Hardly any orientation aids. You can spend a lot of time trying to find a toilet. The makers urgently need to make improvements here. Still a very good place to shop.
Gingerfilm L — Google review
I gave it 4 stars because you needed a voucher to access the wifi. I mean seriously who doesn't just give the wifi out for free why have to have a voucher. I went shopping elsewhere just because I needed to research stuff before I bought anything, but without wifi I couldn't.

Easy place to visit by crossing the bridge to Paraguay. Don’t need a stamp if you’re coming back over this way. Make sure to bring cash. They charge 20% additional nearly everywhere to use credit cards.

If you're looking for a calm, serene shopping experience... go somewhere else. But if you want to dive headfirst into a whirlwind of tax-free temptation, this is your spot. It’s small but mighty, packed with everything a tourist could crave: liquor, tobacco, chocolates, tennis shoes, and enough branded clothing to confuse your luggage at customs.
Ulf R — Google review
Nothing special. Expensive prices for guileless Brazilian shoppers. Really a ridiculous ambiance. Don’t bother even entering. A 5 € coffee and a 200$ suitcase? Seriously? Well, don’t say you haven’t been warned.

Catedral San Blas holds significant cultural importance in Ciudad del Este due to its unique artistic identity. Designed by Bolivian architect Javier Querejazu in 1966, the cathedral's European-inspired architecture is reminiscent of Noah's Ark, giving it a distinctive boat-like shape. The stunning stained glass windows depicting biblical stories add to the site's allure. Located in a safe area for tourists, the cathedral offers a peaceful and spiritual atmosphere, making it an interesting stop on guided tours.

Turismo Itaipu Brasil offers a variety of activities for visitors to explore the enormous hydroelectric power plant and its surroundings. The site includes bus tours, hiking through a wildlife refuge, and access to the dam itself with the Especial Tour.
Impressive building, worth a visit. The tourist tours are well organized and educational (bus tour and several stops at viewpoints). You have several different tours to choose from, depending on your wishes. The entire staff is very friendly. A nice experience and a nice memory.
Kristina K — Google review
While visiting Foz do Iguaçu to see the famous waterfalls, I took the opportunity to join a guided tour of the Itaipu Hydroelectric Power Plant — and it far exceeded my expectations. Known as one of the largest hydroelectric plants in the world, Itaipu is impressive not only for its scale but also for its engineering and historical significance. I chose the full guided tour, which lasted about two hours and included access to the main facilities, turbines, control rooms, and inner workings of the dam. The tour was extremely informative, with simultaneous translation into English, making it accessible and engaging for international visitors. It’s a must-do experience for anyone visiting the region — highly recommended.
Pedro C — Google review
The Itaipu Especial tour was fantastic! Mr. Ilio was great and shared lots of fun facts along the way. We were a bit lost when we first arrived at the reception, but soon someone showed up and explained how the boarding would work. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The dam is colossal and being able to visit both the exterior and interior was amazing. We definitely recommend it. The only drawback is having fossil fueled vehicles to transport the guests.
Guilherme M — Google review
An engineering masterpiece! The Itaipú Dam harnesses the power of the Paraná River to supply clean energy to both Paraguay and Brazil. Standing beside it, you feel the force of nature and human innovation working together - the size, the sound, and the scale are breathtaking. Guided tours show the massive turbines, panoramic viewpoints, and fascinating eco-projects. Awesome Facts: 🌍 Jointly run by Paraguay and Brazil. ⚙️ Generates about 14,000 MW, powering most of Paraguay. 🧱 196 m high and 8 km long - one of the world’s largest dams. 💧 Its name “Itaipú” means “singing stone” in Guaraní. 🌿 Has produced more electricity than any other hydro plant on Earth.
Dmitry.ʎɹʇᴉɯp — Google review
A fascinating visit! The panoramic tour at Itaipu Binacional offers stunning views of one of the world’s largest hydroelectric plants. The scale of the dam is impressive, and the tour was well-organized and informative, with interesting facts about its history, binational cooperation, and massive energy production. A must-see if you're in Foz do Iguaçu.
Ulf D — Google review
Our visit to Itaipu Dam was phenomenal. We were greeted by friendly staff and shown around the dam. The tour guides were kind enough to talk in English although only myself and my wife didn't speak Portuguese. The tour was wonderful and informative. The busses were clean. The terminals were clean. An awesome tour. This is a must visit during your visit in Foz do Igazu.
PRABHDEEP P — Google review
Quite an interesting and impressive feat of engineering, certainly worthwhile the visit. Friendly and professional staff, who are more than happy to answer any and all questions. Highly recommended.

Hito Tres Fronteras, also known as the Three Borders Landmark, is a significant park located at the meeting point of Argentina, Brazil, and Paraguay. This landmark features an obelisk painted in the colors of the Paraguayan flag and offers stunning views of the Iguazu and Parana rivers. Recently renovated, it now includes a lookout point and green spaces for visitors to admire the beauty of the trinational region.
FREE! Nice and quiet! Not crazy like in Brazilian side where you pay 55 reals (£8)… So yes.. Argentina side had nice little market where you could buy souvenirs and peacefully look at the river where three countries meet!
Nadira Y — Google review
Very interesting observation point. The view is impressive too. There is a nice souvenir shop nearby with decent variety. Also there is a taxi service as well which is very convenient if you want to return to your hotel quicker.
AK — Google review
A nice scenic view. There are a couple restaurants nearby and a row of vendors selling mostly souvenirs. There's a taxi stand and bus stop a few meters away if you're too tire to walk. There's a clean bathroom (ARS 200) behind the vendors area. Unfortunately, no one in this area speaks English. Don't visit in the middle of the afternoon. There's very little shades.
Amie K — Google review
Welcome to the Argentine side of the Three Borders—where Argentina politely waves at Brazil and Paraguay across two majestic rivers, and everyone agrees to disagree on who has the best view. This scenic spot is like a geopolitical group hug with a view! You stand on a peaceful riverbank, sip a cold drink, and say things like “Wow, that’s Brazil over there, and hey, that’s Paraguay! And here I am… still in Argentina… paying for empanadas with a 1,000 peso note and getting 25 pesos in change.” There are three big stone markers, each one proudly painted with a national flag. Or at least they were—right now they look like they’ve been through one too many rainy seasons and a political debate. A little touch-up and they’d be selfie-ready again. Think of them as the tired but lovable uncles at a family reunion. The restaurant nearby lets you dine right by the river, so you can argue with your travel companion about which country has the better cuisine while enjoying a plate of milanesa. Souvenir shops abound, selling everything from keychains to the kind of wooden parrots that only make sense on vacation. Also, the walk along the river is surprisingly serene. You might even find your inner philosopher while watching two mighty rivers merge… before remembering you forgot bug spray. (Seriously. Pack it. The mosquitoes here are tri-national and seem to have visa-free access.) The real highlight is the bridge between Brazil and Paraguay off in the distance. It’s beautiful, symbolic, and looks like it knows it's in a postcard.
Ulf D — Google review
Decent place to see the 3 different countries, some shopping around too, it's a quick stop if you're nearby.
Jozef W — Google review
Beauty and tranquility beyond imagination. Sunset is the best time to come here in my view to enjoy beautiful scene and experience the connection between three countries
Moaz S — Google review
Scenic viewpoint overlooking the meeting point of the Paraná and Iguazú rivers, where Argentina, Paraguay, and Brazil converge. The area features several souvenir shops and a restaurant offering picturesque riverfront dining. Three distinct stone markers, each bearing the flag of one of the bordering countries, mark the tri-border location—though they could use a fresh coat of paint. Visitors can also enjoy a peaceful riverside walk, making it a great spot for both sightseeing and relaxing.

Experience a vibrant night out at Rafain Churrascaria Show in Foz do Iguacu, where you can immerse yourself in Latin American culture and folklore. This popular tourist attraction offers a Dinner with Latin American Show featuring performances from eight countries, including Paraguay, Bolivia, Colombia, Chile, Uruguay, Mexico, Argentina and Brazil.
The Rafain Show in Foz do Iguaçu is a lively and entertaining cultural experience. Combining a buffet-style dinner with a colorful musical performance, the show highlights the rich diversity of Latin American culture. The performers showcase traditional music and dance from countries like Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay, and others, making it a vibrant celebration of the region’s heritage. The buffet offers a wide variety of dishes, including Brazilian barbecue and international options, ensuring there’s something for everyone. While the food is decent, the real highlight is the energy and skill of the performers. The costumes, live music, and dance routines create a festive and immersive atmosphere. Though it can feel a bit touristy, the Rafain Show is a fun way to spend an evening, especially for those looking to experience the cultural richness of South America in one place. It’s a perfect complement to a trip to Iguaçu Falls.
Jenny N — Google review
The restaurant offers a wide buffet with plenty of food options and good steaks. However, the dancing show was too long and ended up feeling boring. The cultural performance didn’t make much sense—it felt out of place, especially since you’re already in Brazil and can experience authentic culture elsewhere. I wouldn’t recommend the dinner-and-show package. It’s only worth visiting for the food.
Providential M — Google review
Unfortunately, the dinner was not very good – the combination of shrimp with charcuterie felt strange and didn’t work well. The show itself was nothing special, quite repetitive and at times even boring. You could clearly see that many guests were not engaged and looked rather uninterested. It would have been nice if the performers had interacted more with the audience, for example by encouraging people to dance. The samba part, which many were looking forward to, came only at the very end, was very short, and honestly not well executed. The service itself was good and the staff were friendly, but the tables, chairs, and overall setting were uncomfortable and not very pleasant. Overall, a disappointing experience that has a lot of potential but needs much improvement.
Naila C — Google review
Nice touristic place with a great variety of food and drinks. During nightime there‘s a show with Central American dances.
Ralph S — Google review
Rafain Churrascaria Show was amazing! The live performance featured traditional dances and songs from many South American countries. The buffet was also impressive, offering a wide variety of grilled meats, salads, and much more. A great experience overall!
Suciu I — Google review
We visited Rafain with a large group, and it was a fantastic experience. Depending on where you sit, the cost was around US $34, including transportation. Dinner is served buffet-style — including the meats — and there were plenty of options. The barbecue was excellent, carved and cooked right in front of us, and you can go back as many times as you want. In addition to the meats, there’s a huge selection of sides, appetizers, and even sushi. Drinks are not included, but prices are reasonable — for example, a 500 mL bottle of water was about US $2. The show was the highlight. It featured traditional dances and music from many South American countries. I added some video highlights, but there were many more performances I didn’t capture. The costumes, colors, and energy were amazing, and the show was very entertaining from start to finish. Everything wraps up at 10 PM sharp. For the price, this is absolutely a must-go during your visit to Foz do Iguaçu. Great food, great entertainment, and a memorable cultural experience.
Alper Y — Google review
Went to the Rafain Churrascaria Show and was pleasantly surprised! The show is a terrific tribute to the latin american music and dance. The host and performers were great! The staff were attentive and pleasant. The food was buffet style with plenty of options. The presentation was appealing and everything was delicious! The cocktails (extra charge) were well made and I enjoyed them! I had opted for the transportation to my hotel as well and the driver made sure I knew where to find her after the show, she waited for the group diligently and I reached my hotel safely. The entire experience was wonderful and I recommend that if you travel to the Foz do Iguaçu, this is an absolutely amazing way to spend the evening.
Timsy S — Google review

Really bad experience with security. Due to my medication I have to eat every 2 hours healthy food, they didn’t allow me to take it with me, and in the park there is no healthy options I can take, just fried food which made me feel sick! 🤢 had a really bad day

It will be nice in the future, but now there are not many attractions. The ones they have are nice and fun. There are just two types of water slides (not for the scary ones), one wave pool and not much more. The price is expensive for the few attractions they have. Not recommended until things change
Michu G — Google review
I went to the park on Sunday. I spent the afternoon there with my friends, and we had a really good time. Nonetheless, I had a few inconvenients that take a lot of effort from my side to get solved. I paid the entrance fee with my credit card, and there was an issue with the register, so I was asked to repeat the process. Two days later, I found that I was charged twice for the entrance fee. At the moment of the purchase, they told me that if that happened, I was supposed to ask for refund via WhatsApp. After many attempts to contact them, I finally got an answer, and 15 days later I got a refund. Also, they charged me 80 R$ for a broken bracelet, that when I got it, it was already damaged, but I didn't know that would be an issue. It was not good to experiment a stressful situation the whole week after having a blast on Sunday afternoon. Word of advice: take into consideration that you better carry cash with you to pay the entrance fee and expenses.

Monday Falls is a picturesque national park featuring a large and beautiful waterfall, making it a popular destination for hiking, camping, and picnicking. Visitors can enjoy the scenic walk down to the falls along a paved path and take in the natural beauty. The park offers amenities such as a charming restaurant with decent food, a small guest shop for souvenirs, and even an elevator to reach the bottom of the falls.
We had the park to ourselves. This spot is definitely overlooked in favor of Iguazu. Not as impressive but still very serene and beautiful and you get to view the river up close and personal.
Jessica S — Google review
After visiting Iguazu falls on the Brazilian side and Argintinan side it was rather nice to visit a more quite waterfall where you could get very close to the falls and it isn't as busy.
Alexandra C — Google review
Beautiful falls. I estimate about 80 m. Picturesque, lots of photo sites. Various businesses charge entrance fees. We went to the Saltos del Monday and bought the regular entrance and the elevator access. The elevator access took us to the river level, close enough to feel the water splashing. The regular entrance is at the top of the falls level. There was a mild ~ 0.7 km walk, ending at the elevator and the restaurant. Cost for both was 70,000 guarani, about $10 US. Bathroom near the entrance with toilet paper!
Trevor J — Google review
The waterfall is nice, quite small but cool to see. The entrance fee is too much for this small waterfall.

It was an amazing experience. The cabins that we stayed in were beautiful and comfortable, the zip lining was fun, and the view of the hikes was amazing. We also did some archery, and we would have done some rappel but we were there during winter and so we couldn't do it. Would definitely recommend, especially for tourists.
Mariana E — Google review
A beautiful and lesser traveled set of waterfalls to visit on the Paraguay side. Took a ferry over from Argentina in our guide's vehicle, which I definitely encourage. Makes border crossing very smooth. Worth the day trip, and with all the new construction and upgrades going on locally, it will soon be its own destination. I feel like opening my own little restaurant there!

(Translated by Google) It is a beautiful lake in the Boquerón neighborhood of Ciudad del Este, with many trees around it, cycling and walking trails. The lake is full of birds, beautiful rodents and alligators. Yes, there are several alligators that look like tree trunks, don't be fooled. There are several restaurants, medical schools and excellent nightclubs around it. There is also an open-air theater and various performances, as well as regular events. It is a place where many locals go every day, and it is packed on the weekends. It is a beautiful place for picnics, rest and to watch the beautiful sunset through the trees. It is worth spending an afternoon or walking along its trails. The downside is on days of heavy rain, because the lower parts flood. After heavy rains, the trails become full of mud and make walking difficult.

Mirante Central - Turismo Itaipu offers a fascinating look into the history and construction of the Itaipu Dam, a marvel of engineering that generates power for both Brazil and Paraguay. The dam is an important symbol of cooperation between the two countries, with Brazil building it on Paraguay's side in exchange for sharing the generated power. Visitors can enjoy special tours, including panoramic views and insights from those involved in the dam's construction.
It is the third largest hydroelectric dam in the world. You will get all the important information if you take a tourist tour (you buy the ticket at the entrance to the tourist center). This is also the only way you can see Itaipu Dam. The whole concept is well organized and overall a great experience. In 1994, the American Society of Civil Engineers elected the Itaipu Dam as one of the seven modern Wonders of the World. In 1995, the American magazine Popular Mechanics published the results. The installed generation capacity of the plant is 14 GW, with 20 generating units providing 700 MW each with a hydraulic design head of 118 metres. The total length of the dam is 7,235 metres. The crest elevation is 225 metres. The dam is 196 metres high, equivalent to a 65-story building. The flow of two generators (700 cubic metres per second (25,000 cu ft/s) each) is roughly equivalent to the average flow of the Iguaçu Falls (1,500 cubic metres per second). The amount of concrete used to build the Itaipu Power Plant would be enough to build 210 football stadiums the size of the Estádio do Maracanã. The iron and steel used would allow for the construction of 380 Eiffel Towers. Truly majestic building.
Kristina K — Google review
Take note that you cannot Uber to here - need to get off at the control point and from there pay the entrance which includes a tour with a guide. The tour will take you to all the spots and drive you across the dam. Highlight for me was the capybaras by the side of the road haha. Unfortunately we didn't stop to take pictures of them so it's just a quick pan of the video.

Interesting tour and history of the hydroelectric dam. There was a bit of a wait to get a bus but once on the bus they drive you around the dam to see it. The guide gives you facts in Portuguese, Spanish and English. Kids probably would be bored but fun for those interested in hydro power.

A not-to-miss place for those visiting Ciudad del Este and the Itaipú dam. It opened in 1975, but still has a fresh feel, making use of multimedia displays. It's divided into two exhibition halls. The first concentrates on the Guaraní world and explores what we can learn from the original inhabitants, whose descendants, the Ava Guaraní of Acaray-mí, still preserve their culture. There are baskets, feather ornaments, stone tools and cooking pots. The second hall is devoted to science. (Translated by Google) The El Mensú Museum, located in Ciudad del Este, stands as a space of memory and reflection on the origins of this city, founded in February 1957 under the name of Puerto Presidente Stroessner, during the Stroessner dictatorship (1954-1989). This museum not only documents the official history of the city, but also offers a broader and more complex portrait of the experiences of its first inhabitants and the social dynamics that shaped the Alto Paraná region. Among its valuable treasures are the founding documents that mark the beginning of this strategic city, along with objects belonging to the pioneers who settled in the area. Historical photographs allow us to trace the growth of the city, while a particularly emblematic piece, the clock that once adorned the façade of the iconic Monalisa shopping center and which was removed in 1997, connects us with the urban evolution of this border enclave. The museum also dedicates significant space to the cultural and social roots of the region. In its indigenous art room, the traditions and expressions of the native peoples stand out, remembering their central place in the history of Alto Paraná. In addition, a room dedicated to yerba mate critically addresses the system of semi-slavery suffered by the mensú, the workers of the yerba mate plantations, who endured inhumane conditions in search of sustenance in an extractivist economy. The El Mensú Museum is not only an archive of local history, but a living testimony that invites us to rethink the links between past, present and future. Free entry. Through its collections, it reflects on the impacts of the dictatorship, the social struggles and the contradictions of a region that, since its founding, has been a mosaic of hopes and challenges.

With Guaraní as the mother tongue, the museum presents traces of the past and the traces of modernity that have passed through this part of Paraguay. It's worth visiting and learning more. It presents documents about the founding of the city in 1957, as well as a moving section about the situation of slavery that the mensú lived in, facing serious injustices. In addition, it houses a collection of electronic objects, reflecting the impact of technology on the daily life of the community. This museum not only celebrates the indigenous legacy, but also invites reflection on history and its repercussions on the present.
