Its a amazing place to hang out with lots of phogenic places to look for.The best time to start is early morning as the boat leaves from a nearby boat jetty about 10 minutes drive from panagua and the first boat leaves at about 0730hrs and the last boat comes back at around 1800hrs. 1 day is enough for sight seeing at the island and if you have time you can stay at the island which is a bit expensive but a good experience. The boat charges are about 18-20usd from paranagua to n fro. The place have good outlets for eating and you can also buy souvenirs. The island have a tourist information centre which speaks English too. They will provide you the map and the required information to explore the island.

We tried different restaurants at Ilha do Mel and I believe this may be the best restaurant in the entire island. The fish and shrimp moqueca was delicious. Our waiter Martin was very kind and helpful. He took the time to explain the entire menu in Spanish, since I don’t speak Portuguese, even when I tried to learn the language before our vacación, but I couldn’t understand much or talk. Martin was very nice and patient. I will definitely recommend this restaurant.
