Outdoor Activities
La Caleta is one of the four beaches in Cadiz, but it stands out as the smallest and most popular due to its location next to the old town and between two castles. It gained pop-culture significance as a filming location for a scene in Die Another Day. Visitors can relax on its golden shores, visit the iconic Spa of Lady of Palma, and enjoy beach bars.
A nice place to hang out at during a day trip to Cádiz even in late December! Kids run around with gusto, collecting seashells and pebbles
Oleksandr G — Google review
Pier has seen better days but it is a great little traditional beach. Nice for family's and news agents near by for drinks. Sand isn't the dreamy white stuff you see in pictures and almost feels a bit British.
Adam W — Google review
Great beach in the center of Cadiz. Enjoying our stay here today.
Sc. U — Google review
Located in beautiful Cádiz, it is an idyllic spot. The beaches, good food and rich history. Definitely plan on returning!
E M — Google review
Cádiz, La Caleta is a beach located in the historical center of the city of Cádiz. It is a natural harbor by which Phoenicians, Carthaginians, Romans penetrated historically. main attraction is its location, a scene that has inspired musicians and poets like: Isaac Albéniz, José Maria Pemán, Paco Alba, and Carlos Cano. It has been pictured in several films, such as 007: Die Another Day, Alatriste, and Manolete.
Csaba B — Google review
Not sure how typical it is there, but during our 2 days in Cadiz, water in La Caleta was very turbid (likely due to heavy rain in Andalucia couple days before our arrival). Also loads of seaweed😬 You find much better conditions on the south side of the walkway to the fortress. It has access to open Atlantic and water there is much clearer, but swimming conditions are harder due to higher waves. If you just want to play on the sand - it's a place for you, although we visited pre season and I can see it getting very crowded. Big parkings are available nearby, but be prepared for them to be full or if you get lucky, to dig deep into your pockets - 15€/day seems to be cheap in Cadiz😬
Aleksander R — Google review

Nature & Parks
Parque Genovés is a picturesque and expansive park located in the Old City section of Cadiz. It borders the university campus to the north and features a wide variety of plants, trees, and pathways. The park's design by Valencian architect Geronimo Genoves Puig includes a grotto with a waterfall and an ornamental lake adorned with dinosaur sculptures. Visitors can enjoy picnics, leisurely walks, or let children play at the playground.
Great location right by the sea. It’s located beside the parador at the top of the old city of Cadiz. Some very unusual tropical plants dating back 100+ years. A great playground for the children keep them entertained, and for adults a nice small coffee shop with outdoor seating at very reasonable prices. Well worth a visit if you’re in the area and you want a bit of shade.
Ian K — Google review
Ever wondered where history and nature blend seamlessly? Parque Genovés in Cádiz is a hidden gem that captivates from the first step! With its lush gardens, whimsical topiary sculptures, and serene waterfront views, this park feels like a living postcard. Perfect for a peaceful stroll or a moment of reflection under ancient trees. Don’t miss the charming waterfall and the quirky dragon tree – it’s a must-visit! What’s your favorite spot here?
Anna D — Google review
Lovely park in Cadiz. There are waterfalls, raised walkways and a play park. It's got nice sea views too. There are lots of trees and plants and lots of shady walks. There is a shop/bar to buy beer, coffee and ice creams too. Really lovely place to relax and unwind.
John W — Google review
Seems like it is not being kept or looked after. Trees and flowers need trimming etc. No water in fountains, no waterfall functioning. Has been taken over by countless pigeons. Still very nice collection of trees and flowers worth a visit, but do not expect too much.
Mikael B — Google review

Torre Tavira is a historic observation tower in Cadiz, dating back to the 18th century. It offers stunning panoramic views of the city and the sea, making it a must-visit for photography enthusiasts. The tower features a camera obscura on its top floor, projecting real-time images of the surroundings onto a white screen. Visitors can also explore two exhibition halls within the tower.
It's part of the Camera Obscura, which unfortunately we couldn't visit as it was fully booked. The narrow climb up the tower was well worth it for the views . Lots of information on the walls as you climb.
Stuart G — Google review
Marta was a great tour guide. She explained everything to our group and had a playful sense of humor. The views of Cadiz and beyond were amazing. The staircase is a workout but the views are well worth it.
Ruben S — Google review
Fantastic view of Cadiz This was a great place to come to and climb a few steps to see the view of the town. It was not that expensive and really worth it! Highly recommended!
Paul V — Google review
Not a whole lot to see here, better views from the cathedral tower for the same price. Overall it’s a good place to learn about the different towers and their history an usage within the city. Camera obscura is neat.

Historical landmark
The Castillo de Santa Catalina is a 17th-century fortress complex located in Cadiz, offering stunning panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean and La Caleta beach. This historic landmark was constructed by Philip II as a response to the brief occupation of Cadiz by Anglo-Dutch forces in 1596. The castle now features exhibition spaces for modern art and hosts open-air concerts in its internal courtyard during the summer.
Another free site in Cadiz worth a quick stop. Beautiful views from here of the harbor and adjacent beach. A great place for some quick photos. The buildings house various rotating exhibitions of art, photography, etc.
Andrew H — Google review
Cádiz, Castillo de Santa Catalina, the castle is the oldest military construction in Cádiz city, and is a good example of historic preservation. Situated to the north of Playa La Caleta and Castillo San Sebastian, it is well worth a visit. Construction started in April: 1598, led by architect and military engineer, Cristóbal de Rojas. The castle was completed exactly 23 years later, in September 1621, at the end of Felipe III's reign.
Csaba B — Google review
Interesting walk through, great spot for the view, it's free entry so you can't be disappointed that there is nearly no sign explaining any history of the structure. It's been converted to an art gallery now, do you got that.

The 17th century Castillo de Santa Catalina next to Playa de La Caleta in Cádiz, Spain, was built by order of King Philip II after the Anglo-Dutch capture of the city in 1596.
David S — Google review
This castle is underrated. Inside the castle, there’s a garden, there’s a museum, and there is a small chapel. When you go around the castle, it is a stunning view of the ocean and the beach. I took many videos so that you can see from a different perspectives. Best of all, it is free to go in. Enjoy the Beatles see use of the sea.
Wendy L — Google review
Stunning little fortress, with great views over Castillo de San Sebastian and the mainland with the added bonus that it is free to enter. Not sure what it will be like in peak tourist season, but in mid-November, I almost had the place to myself!! The Chapel is a must, especially if you spot the small staircase that rakes you to the mezzanine and gives you a nice view from above. The exhibition to the explosion of Cadiz is worth a visit and a poignant reminder of the disaster and work of the medical teams in saving lives.

Located in the Plaza Fraguela in Cadiz, Gran Teatro Falla is a prominent theater built in 1886 after its predecessor was destroyed by fire. The building's neo-Mudejar style features colorful bricks and horseshoe arches on its facade. It stands alongside other historic structures like the neoclassical Carcel Real and Casa de las Viudas.
Fabulous venue for a concert. We saw guitarist Yerai Cortés and 6 women singers. It was a great concert. Pulsing guitar, dramatic choral singing and thumping palmeras. El teatro tiene muy buena acústicas.

We were in Cadiz for 4 days, unfortunately we couldn't enjoy the events in the Theater. We only saw the exterior facade and the Plaza Fragela, facing the Casa de las Viudas and adjacent to the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Cádiz. Construction of the theater began in 1884, following plans by architect Adolfo Morales de los Ríos.

Catedral de Cádiz is a stunning architectural masterpiece that showcases baroque, rococo, and neoclassical styles. It took 110 years to build and stands as a symbol of the city's resilience after being decimated in the 16th century. The cathedral's gold dome dominates the neighborhood, offering dramatic views from its bell tower climb.
Majestic and grandiose with on Old World Flair. The bell tower is a must do, the views are magnificent. The square directly in front is an ideal spot lace to have tapas and drinks. Music, vendors and charm abound!
E M — Google review
Nice cathedral in colonial style. The entry ticket costs 10€, a bit expensive but I recommend to visit inside. Outside there are many restaurants, i consider them more touristic places and I suggest to just walk few meters and you can find more choices and less touristic.
Luca — Google review
Decided to walk from the Port and found myself at the wonderful Catedral de Cádiz. 10 euros to enter or $11.80 US dollars which includes the Catedral and the conservatory. I paid at the entry and after a little conversation the receptionist gave me an audio guide in English. I stopped at each station and listened and admired the historical record. The Catedral was a unique and interesting place. I ventured to the conservatory after making a small purchase of a magnet for my daughter. Be mindful the ramp/walkway is not easy but worth every step. The view from the top is mesmerizing. I was blessed to catch it at sunset. You can see God in every aspect of His earth and creation. I stood in awe at this picture which will remain in my minds eye forever.
Merc J — Google review
Cádiz Cathedral is a very impressive and monumental building, uniquely placed so close to the sea and is beautiful both inside and out. The views of the city from the bell tower are spectacular and the crypt is not to be missed. The first time we were there the Christmas Crib was still in place and it was stunning. My favourite part are the two angles on both sides. Lots of good artwork and the silver on display is amazing.
Liam C — Google review
While on RCCL Explorer OTS Transatlantic West 2025 we stopped at Cadiz. It was an easy and fun port for sightseeing and walking. It you like old architecture and history the Cathedral is a must visit. There is also a Jesuit church nearby that is 0 KM of the El Camino de Santiago route from the southwest of Spain. Lots of history to explore. We enjoyed the musicians that performed in front of the cathedral.
Michael M — Google review
Very classic cathedral with an incredible interior. The views from the top of the tower are the best in the city and we'll worth the clomb
Ryan — Google review
Arrived in Cádiz to drizzle so headed for the Cathedral, around 12Euro to gain entry, for additional charge you can opt for an audio guide. Toilets on site but long long queues! Entry price always gains you access to the bell tower, no steps but graduated slopes, 72 of them, the bells charm every 15 minutes, great views!
Woody J — Google review
Not too busy compared the other major cathedrals in Southern Spain. In many ways, the interior is more fascinating than it's more famous counterparts. Don't forget that your ticket includes the climb up to the bell tower, and the VR experience.

The Cadiz Museum is a combination of an old Franciscan convent and a modern building, housing an impressive 17th-century Spanish collection. The museum's history dates back to 1000 BC, making it one of Europe's oldest continuously inhabited cities. It has been occupied by various civilizations including the Phoenicians, Romans, and Arabs. The museum boasts a rich archaeological collection with artifacts from these ancient cultures.
Entrance is free for EU residents, including temporary residence permit cards. Although the description is mostly in English, a google lens app works just fine. Recommended to go check out the prehistoric collection of Cádiz.
Sangam P — Google review
Picture this: you’re standing in the heart of Cádiz’s old town, surrounded by history, and you step into a time machine disguised as a museum. The Cádiz Museum blew me away with its treasures, from eerie Phoenician sarcophagi to vibrant Baroque paintings by Zurbarán. The ground floor’s archaeology section is like a journey back to 1100 BC, with artifacts that whisper tales of ancient Cádiz as a bustling Phoenician hub. Did you know the male sarcophagus found in 1887 sparked the creation of this very museum? For just €1.50 (free for EU citizens with ID), you get access to this cultural goldmine on Plaza de Mina. Pro tip: bring a translation app, as some signs are Spanish-only. Also, check the website for current hours, as renovations might limit access to some floors. Don’t rush—give yourself at least an hour to soak it all in! What’s your favorite artifact here?
Anna D — Google review
Interesting collection of sculptures and artifacts from Roman and era before. It would have been also interesting if museum could include the history of transatlantic slavery aswell.
Pushpa P — Google review
Great experience. We went to the Hercules shop in town and bought a beautiful ring moulded from an original Roman ring. We were told that we could see the original in the museum. It’s free entry which was unusual for us! And the exhibits were gorgeous, particularly the display of jewellery and pottery.
O W — Google review
Although the place is undergoing extensive refurbishment due to filtration & humidity, the ground floor & third floor are partially open. Ground floor exhibits some Phoenician artefacts; Roman except the big marble sculptures & some objects from the time of the Caliphates in Andalusia. None of the great Spanish masters are exposed. The third floor has a nice collection of XIX century puppets, from a famous theatre.
Sabas C — Google review
Two 5th century BC Phoenician marble sarcophagi currently in the Museo de Cádiz in Cádiz, Spain, are thought to have originated in Sidon, Lebanon. A famous set of "Tia Norica" puppet skits, once used during the annual carnival of Cádiz, Spain, are ALSO exhibited in the museum. In one example the bull is getting the better of the bullfighter. Puppet shows are popular in Cádiz around Christmas.

Located in Cadiz, Spain, Castillo de San Sebastian is a former island fortress that has been transformed into a hub for historical exhibits, concerts, and cultural events. The castle offers stunning views of the Atlantic and La Caleta beach. Visitors can take a leisurely stroll along the coast to reach Santa Catalina Castle, the oldest fortress in Cadiz.
Great place to see Cadiz from a distance. No tickets needed. Due to its nature, I recommend checking tide times as it's a lot more attractive to visit during high tide😉 Ideal spot to watch the Atlantic during storms 👌🏻 We've been lucky on this front and saw it in very windy days🌊🌊👌🏻 It was interesting to observe huge difference in conditions between south and north side of the walkway. Could be difficult to make it all the way in and out without getting wet, so be prepared for a challenge during high tide on windy days😉
Aleksander R — Google review
A really cool place to visit. The views are spectacular and it’s amazing to see the history and style of the buildings. Free entry as well!
O W — Google review
Nice view of the city from the castle. However, the most fun we had was when walking to the castle via this narrow sea bridge. The wind was crazy and the waves were crushing along the way, soaking us so we had to run in some places. We spend around one hour here. There’s no bathroom and the castle is free entrance.
Anna K — Google review
Another great spot to walk around, enjoy the view, but nearly no information other than a couple of very general information posters. But this seems like a locals spot to relax around, especially the narrow path to get to it. Small sand bars and kids jumping off the bridge into the water.
Micah W — Google review
We had a great family walk to Castillo de San Sebastian with 3 dogs. Comfortable weather and temperaturen, slightly windy on a summer day. Highly recommended.

A decent boardwalk from the beach leading to the "castle", although mostly ruins with a platform circling the waters edge. All the same a very pleasant walk and great views back to the city and beach especially in the glorious weather we had.

You can walk the grounds and go to the top for amazing views but you can't enter any of the buildings. I would've like a guided tour and seen the inside. Wear comfortable shoes!

The Castillo de San Sebastian (1706) occupies a tiny island off Playa de La Caleta at the westernmost point of Cádiz, Spain. Its artillery was intended to protect the city from hostile ships approaching from the west. The castle is largely abandoned but still accessible to the public. The entrance is always open, inviting the curious to come in. It's on a small island off Playa de La Caleta, accessible via Paseo Fernando Quiñones. It's an interesting one-kilometer walk.

Jardines de Alameda Apodaca is a picturesque landscaped walkway in Cadiz, running parallel to the sea from the walls of San Carlos to the Baluarte de la Candelaria. This 18th-century walk consists of three streets divided by rows of trees and features intriguing sculptures. The park offers mosaic benches, extraordinary plant species, and a wide promenade paved with different patterned plates.

Really pretty gardens to wander around if you've had enough of lying on the beach. Good views out over the sea as well.

An absolutely beautiful and well maintained park on the north side of Cadiz. It's small but packs a lot of punch with numerous fountains, sculptures and an amazing variety of flora and fauna including two giant ficus trees that came from Cuba. You'll also get great views of the ocean and some respite from the sun in the shade of the trees.

The Church Santa Cruz, also known as the Old Cadiz Cathedral, is a charming parish church located in the seaside city of Cadiz. The church features an airy and rustic sanctuary with a domed roof, adding to its quaint appeal.
This historic church, known as the Old Cathedral of Cádiz, is an absolute gem in the heart of the city. The architecture is stunning, with beautiful vaulted ceilings and an impressive baroque altar. The atmosphere inside is peaceful and contemplative, perfect for reflection. It's remarkable to think about its rich history dating back centuries. A must-visit for anyone interested in religious art and Spanish colonial heritage.

I didn’t go inside as it was past 4:30pm and I still have a few places that I want to see before the sun sets. The exterior of the cathedral is beautiful especially with the sunlight so I took photos from different angle outside of the cathedral.

These 'working' churches that haven't been completely renovated and are frequently used by locals for worship are an excellent find. Very interesting and beautiful to view.

Surprising and interesting. The interior is obviously very old, converted from a mosque after the re conquest. The religious sculptures are amazing and to a non catholic they are really weird

Iglesia de Santiago Apóstol, also known as the Baroque Santiago Church or the Church of Santiago, is a 17th-century church located next to Cadiz Cathedral. Originally built in the 16th century and later reconstructed due to damage, this small church boasts a beautiful exterior and an impressive interior with magnificent sculpture work and beautifully carved wood altars.
A wonderful small church located near the cathedral and a must visit if you body the cathedral. It was part of the Jesuit college and the interior looks magnificent. It can go easily unnoticed. The sculpture work inside is magnificent. A must visit in Cadiz.

A small but charming church located right in Cathedral Square, making it easy to visit alongside the main cathedral. The church has historical importance and features some beautiful religious elements inside. The proximity to the cathedral gives it a special atmosphere steeped in centuries of tradition. The interior is intimate and conducive to prayer and reflection. It's interesting to see how this modest church complements the grandeur of the nearby cathedral. A lovely stop for those exploring the historic heart of Cádiz and its religious heritage.
Pablo T — Google review
Free entry into this charming small church. Of course this can’t be compared to the cathedral which is literally right next to it, but it’s still worth the visit. I enjoy seeing the relics. And it is not too crowded which is good.

The Iglesia de Santiago Apóstol, also known as the Baroque Santiago Church or the Church of Santiago, Cadiz, faces south-east into Plaza de la Catedralas (Cathedral Square) and located directly next to Cadiz Cathedral which faces north-east into the plaza. Based on designs by Jesuit brother Alonso Romero, the church was built in 1635. It doesn't look much at all from the outside however inside is a different story. The interior is dramatic with spectacular wood carved altarpieces and sculptures from 17th and 18th century and houses a number of baroque works of some famous local artists like Alejandro de Saavedra. Sadly it was closed when I was last in Cadiz however, I managed to get a snap of it's bell tower from the top of Cadiz Cathedral.

A beautiful church we came across by accident in the square in front of cathederal. Free entry too. Lots of very ornate detailed artefacts and paintings. Well worth a visit.

Built in 1635 the altar with Santiago the Moor slayer is very beautiful as are all figures in this charming Church. It's the starting point of the Camíno de Santiago which is well signed as it winds its way out of Old Town. When leaving Church head towards left hand side of Cathedral and climb stairs to pick up the Camíno. Beautiful setting with lively square so close to the seaside walkway.

Yacimiento Arqueológico Gadir is a must-visit in Cadiz, offering insights into the ancient Phoenician culture and civilization. Situated near Mercado de las Flores, it shares space with Museo de los Titeres. The site showcases the oldest archaeological remains of the western Mediterranean, including two blocks and eight houses from the ancient Phoenician city, along with human remains and exhibitions.
Laura was a great bi-lingual guide! Very friendly and informative. The place was well-designed, with a short video to explain Phoenician history. Also there’s a cat skeleton… thank you Laura for showing us where it died. 🫡☺️

Very informative and well-planed museum, featuring ancient Phoenician city. The staff can speak English pretty well and answer your questions kindly. The tour starts with a eye-catching video and explains the history of the city and then you can start visiting the museum, the information panels are detailed, although the museum isn’t big you could still spend an hour inside because the tour is very well-planed, overall it’s a very good experience. And it’s FREE of charge!

This is a small but very interesting archeological site. It is well set out and the information is in English as well as other languages. You will get to see the skeleton of a poor soul who broke his leg trying, and sadly failing, to escape a fire. I think his remains are where he fell. There's a short film to set the scene and this helps you understand the visit. I only met one m member of staff who was very friendl and helpful. Amazingly this is all free. You need to book ahead which you can do on site. If not too busy you could be in on the next hour. This is a great way to spend an hour or so and with the wonderful market just around the corner, combined this is a great way to spend an afternoon.

We learned about the museum through the programme of Cádiz Romana (see screenshot). When we went this afternoon (25 september), there was a notice that today it is only accessible from 16:00. When we asked at the ticket office, it turned out that not only were the horarios incorrect, all the slots for later today, from 16:00, were fully booked. Apparently, reservations ahead are necessary. And reservations can only be done at the ticket office. In the morning. For the same day. None of this information is mentioned in Cádiz Romana, nor is it clear on the website of the Yacimiento. Very disappointing. Please improve this information to avoid disappointing others in this way.
Emese — Google review
You will be able to walk over one of the oldest Phoenician settlements found in the West. The site is divided into different levels, corresponding to the different periods of occupation of the settlement, in which the layout of the streets, the houses and the tools of the 9th century BC can be seen. It is fascinating to see the fossilized footprints of cattle that crossed these roads and the remains of a Phoenician male. In addition to these Phoenician ruins, you will see the ruins of a Roman fish processing factory. Free entry, check their website to find out how to reserve a ticket at the ticket booth. The staff are friendly.

Great place to imagine yourself some tausends of years before! Its not a museum, but just some archaeologian excavations, so it will be interesting for EVERYBODY, also children! The Teatro Romano de Cádiz, also known as Balbi Theatre, is an ancient Roman theater dating back to 70 BC. Discovered in 1980 in the El Populo district of Cadiz, it is one of the largest and oldest Roman theaters found in the Iberian Peninsula. The theater was built by Lucius Cornelius Balbus, an advisor to Julius Caesar, and his nephew.

Oratorio de la Santa Cueva is a Christian oratory in Cadiz, Spain, dating back to around 1730. It consists of two chapels and is adorned with beautiful art. Despite its unassuming facade, this oratory holds historical significance as it belonged to the Spiritual Withdrawal Congregation in the 18th century. The Museum of Cadiz nearby offers insights into the city's history and features works by renowned artists like Murillo and Rubens.
Came to visit here but initially visited Parroquia Nuestra Señora del Rosario, almost next door, by mistake. (The latter is, nevertheless, well worth visiting.) The Oratorio is something else. A small chapel in a cave, a first floor museum, and a stunning chapel on the second floor. The latter houses beautiful pieces by Goya and Velazquez, plus the stunning altar itself. Despite its small space, this is more special than the cathedral. Well worth the €5 entrance fee.

Wow. We almost missed this place because it’s so discreet compared to bombast of the cathedrals. It would have been such a shame because when you get to see the sheer splendour and humility of this great church you can see exactly why this should move to your number 1 place to visit. Artwork by Goya is just one of the many reasons to spend the €5 entry fee.

The Catacumbas del Beaterio in Cadiz is a 17th-century underground burial site originally used by Franciscan friars to bury lay sisters. The catacombs survived an explosion that destroyed the building above them in the mid-19th century and are now open for tours. Visitors can explore the underground gallery, six meters below ground, adorned with engravings and drawings. Historical objects and war weapons found in the area are also on display.

Non-Spanish speakers will be at a disadvantage here. We booked the 4 of us in advance, it said on the website the guide was going to be speaking Spanish and English, I even sent an e-mail beforehand on the day to make sure the need for English speaking was well received, and…surprise surprise, as we arrived our guide literally said to me “I won’t do the tour in English because the group is too big”. There were 6 Spanish-speaking guests and the 4 of us English-speaking. Quite a balance, no? We got a little bit of explanation in English just because i insisted. The experience was not great and my friends got bored quickly. Really sad about this. I suggest they remove the promise they make on the website - for a guide in Spanish - English, because it’s simply not true. Otherwise, the catacumbas are fascinating, smaller than expected - 3 rooms. There was not much walking around in the underground, so less atmospheric than expected. Nonetheless fascinating. Probably more so if I had understood the explanations in the first place !
Monica P — Google review
This is a fascinating place with a half-told history, that sadly is not fully historically registered, giving a bit room for speculation. The best of the tour was the attentive guide, who showed her personal enthusiasm. Sadly, this is a privately owned place, and I was left wondering why the local government & archeological institutions have not shown interest in funding or making further research.
Sabas C — Google review
The entrance is not very obvious - it's in the courtyard of a house, if the door is locked there is a phone number you can ring. A small place (4 rooms), nice for a quick visit, kids enjoyed exploring it. There is some information in English and Spanish on the wall in each room, enough to learn about the purpose of each room and some interesting details. The ticket cost 3EUR/person.
Katya K — Google review

A bit tricky to find, small door in busy traffic circle. Gratis entry (!). A small but unique little museum, upstairs. Cordial greeting and in you go. When visiting Cadiz, don't miss out on the historical and picturesque Murallas De San Carlos. Dating back to the late 18th century, these fortifications were originally built for defense but now offer a tranquil pathway with stunning ocean views. The Baluarte de San Carlos, a significant part of the fortifications, was designed by Antonio Hurtado.
We had a good time - except it was raining lots and we had to be extra careful because the walkways were very slippery. This was due to a combination of rain and both small tiles and marble pavers which were shiny and dangerous. We didnt get to see very much - even those who went in TukTuks or took the Hop on Hop off buses weren't able to see much due to the rain

Arco de los Blanco, also known as Puerta de Tierra, is an eastern gate that was built during the 13th century as part of the old Roman wall. It used to adjoin the now non-existent Castle of the Villa and housed a religious sculpture of the Virgin of the Remedies in the 16th century. We were in Cadiz one day while on a long cruise from Lisbon. We spent the full day exploring, oaring the old city. We found this ancient arch before we visited the Roman theatre near by. Not much to see unless you can imagine that this was once one of the gates in wall around the old city. That makes it an amazing thing to see.

Peña Flamenca la Perla de Cádiz is a cavernous music hall in the heart of Cadiz, offering flamenco shows two to three times a week. The performances are vibrant and lively, often featuring multiple dancers on stage simultaneously, providing an excellent introduction to this integral part of Andalusian culture. Located on Calle Carlos Ollero, it is considered the most popular spot to experience flamenco in the city.
Although I didn’t understand much of the singing the atmosphere was superb. Everyone was taking part and enjoying the show. It was my first time seeing this and and if you can get the opportunity to see it then do, it’s fun and entertaining. There were free mussels and beer on offer but the queue was too long for us to join.

Fantastic Flamenco, passionate place, only accepts cash but priced very reasonably. Food and drink available. This is my fourth visit and never been disappointed. Getting tickets is hard as it sells out but so much better then the classic arranged flamenco evening with meal.

First you need to book ahead and be present between 9- 9:15 pm it's ok if you are a patron they take cash and the entrance fee is 10euro per head the early you reserve you get the best seats you need to order ahead at the bar the prices are least expensive and the place is historical, the main treat is the Flamenco the talent on display is the best you can choose which day you want to go as many artists display their trade here every week , we had a good view and enjoyed the Flamenco performance by all the artists to the fullest

**An Authentic Flamenco Experience – Peña Flamenca Perla de Cádiz** This is not just a venue — it’s a true meeting point for locals, full of warmth and culture. The atmosphere is welcoming and lively, with simple bites like **“montaditos” sandwiches, crisps, and drinks**, but the real highlight is the **flamenco session**: passionate, authentic, and filled with tradition. By chance, we met the director of the Peña at the bar across the street, and he kindly invited us to join. That gesture made the night even more special. Truly, an unforgettable experience — one of the best ways to connect with the heart of Cádiz and its flamenco sooul.

Catholic church
Parroquia de Nuestra Señora de la Palma is a hidden gem nestled among ordinary houses. Once inside, the church reveals its stunning interior, adorned with saints, Christs, and Madonnas as if they were attending a grand celebration. The abundance of gold accents adds to its Spanish charm. Steeped in history and tradition, it is said that the tsunami from the Lisbon earthquake reached the base of this church.
(Translated by Google) Its origins date back to the end of the 17th century and are linked to the order of the Capuchins and the public rosaries promoted by Fray Pablo of Cádiz. The brotherhood of the Virgen de la Palma, the oldest in the city, was founded there. The current church was built in the 18th century. It has a rectangular façade framed by Calle de la Palma, with a doorway flanked by Tuscan pilasters. Its square bell tower stands out, decorated with pilasters and topped by a spire covered with Sevillian tiles from the 18th century. Inside it houses a small image of the Virgin of La Palma, a polychrome sculpture from the late 17th century. The church is the headquarters of the Royal Sacramental Archconfraternity of Nuestra Señora de la Palma Coronada and the brotherhoods of the Santísimo Cristo de la Misericordia and María Santísima de las Penas Coronada and del Santo Entierro and María Santísima de la Soledad. Inside there is a small alabaster font with a relief that represents Calvary, a work of the 17th century Italian school. If you are in Cádiz, I recommend visiting this church and enjoying its history, architecture and art. (Translated by Google) The Arch of the Rose is an ancient medieval gate from the 13th century, located next to the Cádiz Cathedral in Plaza de Pío XII, in the historic center. Part of the walls of medieval Cádiz, built under Alfonso X the Wise, connects the square with the Pópulo neighborhood. Its name comes, according to theories, from a chapel dedicated to the Virgin of the Rosary (or of the Rose), which housed the image of Our Lady of Miracles, later moved to the Old Cathedral, or from Captain Gaspar de la Rosa, an 18th-century figure. Originally called the Arch of Santiago after the nearby fishing district, it featured an elbow-shaped defensive design with a machicolation and a tower (now gone). Expanded to accommodate carriages, it was restored in 1973 and has been a Site of Cultural Interest since 1985.

La Casa del Pirata is a fascinating structure that holds a wealth of potential, yet it sadly suffers from neglect. With some care and attention, this building could easily be transformed into a captivating museum experience. A highlight of the visit was the guide, who brought the history to life in an engaging way, particularly for younger visitors. Their enthusiasm made the exploration enjoyable for everyone involved!
(Translated by Google) Interesting building, a shame about the lack of maintenance since it could be transformed into a full-fledged museum. A special mention for the guide who made the visit very enjoyable, especially for the children. (Translated by Google) The route is unfortunate, it does not explain anything interesting about the building and it is done by a "guide" who has no idea about history or qualifications. And on top of that you have to pay to see very little. I personally have been able to go up to the roof, its spiral stairs and its beautiful living room with its outstanding painting on the ceiling made by the same man who did the one at the Falla theater. (Original) La ruta es lamentable, no explica nada interesante del edificio y lo hace por un "guia" que no tiene ni idea de historia ni titulación. Y encima hay que pagar para ver poca cosa.
