Ponta da Piedade, also known as Point of Mercy, is a renowned coastal attraction in Lagos, Portugal. It is celebrated for its captivating sandstone cliffs, hidden caves, and striking rock formations that emerge from the emerald waters of the Atlantic Ocean. Visitors often explore this picturesque site through boat tours to admire its natural beauty up close.
Beautiful rock formation and cliffs . Beaches are overcrowded but the ambience is great. Bus facility is reasonably good or if you can walk 2.2km then walk to Lagos train station from here. No tickets are needed to visit this place .
THIRU M — Google review
Great for walking and running! The trail is in excellent condition and easy for anyone to enjoy. From sunrise to sunset, it’s a peaceful place with beautiful views - just keep in mind that in summer it can get quite hot, as there’s not much shade along the way.
Laura C — Google review
This place was beyond amazing. The views of the rock formations are mesmerizing. I did not want to leave. We arrived on the first day at 6:30 pm to see the sunset. It was cloudy but we stayed a while and the sky turned beautiful hues of pink. We returned the next day to get a better view of the rock formations. There's a lot of boardwalks to explore the areas. On the left side, there is a staircase that will take all the way down to the water and you have an option to pay for a boat ride; which last about 30-40 minutes that will take you through the grotto. I did not utilize this service due to lack of time, but I highly recommend it. Behind the small lighthouse you will find a small Cafe offering light snacks, with tables and chairs. Large parking lot available a short walk away with plenty of parking. The earlier you go the better to avoid large crowds.
Candela_ M — Google review
One of the best trips and moments of 2025! It was a perfect spring day (March) —no clouds, no wind, just a refreshing cool breath out on the ocean. The views of the rock formations were stunningly beautiful: arches appearing one after another, the sea shifting from deep blue to light turquoise and emerald green depending on where you were. Sunlight reflected off the cliffs, changing their colors from yellow to orange to rich brown. Our guide navigated skillfully and pointed out the names of unique formations—camels, elephants, even “the Kissing Couple” arch where we were suggested to kiss each other going throgh it. Thinking of the history, it’s humbling to realize how many thousands of years it took to shape such landscapes. We used the Days of Adventure for an tour operator. The boat trip cost €20 per person for about 1 hour and 15 minutes, and it was worth every cent. It’s a completely different perspective compared to the hiking trail above, which is free and also offers spectacular views. But being out on the water, surrounded by cliffs and arches, made this experience unforgettable. The natural beauty is beyond words: stunning, breathtaking, amazing.
Mamien — Google review
Absolutely incredible. Worth the visit and the long walk down the stairs. We saw Dolphins playing down in the water and every angle and view point felt like it was worth it. Such an amazing place.
Jon T — Google review
Most wonderful trail you’ll find in a v long time! Easy access and lots of wooden platforms available for those who do not feel like walking into the rocks. Saying the view was gorgeous is simply an understatement. You need to visit if you’re close. A must for everyone lucky enough to get to Lagos.
María V — Google review
This place was extraordinary, captivating and better than imagined. If you are within 100 miles of this place, can walk a mile, go up and down stairs, make it happen is all that I can say. A highlight of my trip:)

Beach
Outdoor Activities
Praia do Camilo is a picturesque beach in Algarve, Portugal, accessed by descending 200 wooden steps to a sheltered cove divided by ochre-colored rocks with a hand-dug tunnel. It is one of the tiny coves curtained by low cliffs in the area. The beach is popular on Instagram due to its iconic staircase and stunning views, making it advisable to visit early for a less crowded experience.
Full of seaweed today, but still a must-see. The beach and water were completely covered in seaweed today, so swimming wasn’t really an option. That said, the cliffs and views are stunning as always. Arrive early if you want a spot on the sand — the beach is very small at high tide.
Snejana F — Google review
Lovely beach to take pictures and maybe go for swim but there’s not a lot of place to swim. There little to no tide, making it very calm. There’s a short cave entrance that can take you the beach next door. There’s also another cave that you can enter. The smell of seaweed can be quite strong but it gets better
Charbel H — Google review
After reading blogs about best beaches to visit in the area this one kept going up. And they were right. Despite the 247 stairs, the beach was the perfect spot. There are two sides to it and both are great. Even though there are a lot of stairs to make your way up to the top you will want to stay on the beautiful beach so don’t get discouraged.
Kenzie W — Google review
Superbly nestled between jagged cliffs, this beach has a small shoreline reached by a staircase of about 200 steps, from which you can admire a dazzling landscape as you descend... Nearby, and accessible by the same road, is Ponta da Piedade, an impressive rock formation with jagged shapes and caves carved out by the sea. It's one of the region's landmarks, and can be admired in its entirety during a boat trip, exploring the interiors of the caves and the small, deserted beaches nestled in the rocks !
Enjoy L — Google review
Lovely, interesting beach with lots of stairs, so be prepared. But it is worth it. Very unique and kind of hidden beach with lovely water and its own tunnel to go through to get to the other side of the beach. There is a little bar/cafe at the bottom.
Martina ( — Google review
We had high expectations after reading that this is one of the most beautiful beaches in Lagos. We arrived early, around 6 AM, hoping to catch the sunrise here. Unfortunately, the experience didn’t match the hype, the beach was covered in seaweed and had a strong, unpleasant smell, with very little clean space to walk around. In the end, we decided to head to the neighboring beach instead.
Monica M — Google review
There are steps involved, the beach is not too big, and there are people. So why 5 stars, because it's a cools beach
Mark T — Google review
One of the most beautiful and iconic beaches in the Algarve, and a must-visit if you’re staying in or near Lagos. Tucked between dramatic golden cliffs and accessible by a long wooden staircase, the beach offers stunning views from above and a peaceful, sheltered cove below. The water is crystal clear and perfect for swimming or light snorkeling when conditions are calm. The rock formations and small caves add a sense of adventure, especially if you explore around low tide. The sand is soft and clean, though space is limited, so arriving early is a good idea—especially in peak season when it fills up quickly. There are no sun loungers or rental services on the beach itself, so bring your own towels or umbrellas if you plan to stay a while. There’s a small café at the top of the cliffs near the stairs, offering snacks, drinks, and a great vantage point. Praia do Camilo combines natural beauty, great swimming conditions, and a bit of effort to reach, which helps keep it feeling special. If you’re up for the stairs and want a postcard-worthy beach experience, it’s absolutely worth the trip.

Praia Dona Ana is a stunning beach located in Lagos, Portugal. It is nestled in a calm cove and surrounded by towering rugged cliffs, creating a picturesque setting for visitors. The beach's unique rock formations and cliffs, combined with the mesmerizing blue waters of the ocean, give it an exotic island-like ambiance. Praia Dona Ana is renowned for its beauty and is often considered one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.
One of the best beaches in Lagos. Not as crowded as those close to downtown but at the same time not as tiny as the ones close to the cliffs and the lighthouse. The way down is steep but worth it, there are some rocks so you have to be careful but otherwise it pretty nice. It even has a small bar. The water is a bit cold mind you.
Trachemysta — Google review
Our favorite beach during our stay in Lagos. We went for sunrise, during the day, and had a sunset picnic. It's busy but never overwhelmingly crowded. There can be seaweed but not too bad!
McKenna G — Google review
Another paradise sheltered between cliffs, its shore bathed by a sea of clear and tranquil waters, is one of the most popular images of the Algarve. The jagged rocks that emerge from the sea or are scattered across the beach offer shade to holidaymakers and add a picturesque touch to the landscape.
Enjoy L — Google review
Nice, if you come early enough (around 9am) there are lots of parking places available. Place is beautiful, expect lots of people! There is a bar on the beach, water is reasonably good (some seaweeds on one side) and fairly protected from the strong winds common in the area.
Carlo D — Google review
One of Portugal and Europe as a whole's most beautiful beaches. Unbelievable sunrises, gorgeous water and huge cliffs with relaxed waves. I didn't know the Atlantic ocean could be this beautiful. A must visit!
Dominick — Google review
Contrary to our expectations, the temperature of the ocean water was perfect for swimming and bathing, and we could stay in the water for a long time. The only problem was the thick algae, which in some sections covered the shore with the tide. The algae that was brought to the shore is regularly collected, but this happened on the day we had to travel home. However, the stunning surroundings made us forget this negative. There is a pleasant, cozy beach bar on the beach area, where you can also have a varied meal.
Tibor U — Google review
Not so big for Portugal, which is great for me, only one shop for drinks etc. Great beach for relaxing and the water a bit less cold than other beaches around. A bit crowded but no problem at all.
Geo S — Google review
It is a very crowder beach (in the summer) but its a long beach so it was okay. Its a cute bay with a large swimming space! Good for children beach there are no big waves. Nice clear water.

Meia Praia, also known as Praia Meia, is a stunning 5km stretch of golden sand nestled between rocky cliffs in Lagos. Its flat and rock-free terrain makes it perfect for morning or evening runs and attracts dog walkers due to its safety for both humans and pets. As the largest beach in Lagos, it offers a relaxed atmosphere with calm waves and crystal-clear waters thanks to wind protection from the nearby cliffs of Ponta de Piedade.
Very clean and peaceful beach, perfect for relaxing and safe for kids to play. Great spot for sunbathing, with some nice beachside restaurants nearby. Loved it!
Vahid C — Google review
When we arrived, it was a bit windy and cloudy, but that actually made it perfect for a long walk along the beach. 🚶‍♂️🚶‍♀️ The beach itself is huge, with plenty of space for everyone. Both the walking trail and the beach were very clean, we didn’t spot any litter or excessive seaweed. A really pleasant spot to relax and enjoy nature. 🏵
Monica M — Google review
A great sandy beach, 4 km long. There are a few beach bars where you can get food and drinks, as well as sunbeds, which cost €15 for two. Near the canal, there's a small boat (Vai Vem) that takes you to the beach for €1 per person in less than a minute. It's a great option if you don't want to walk for 30 minutes.
Nina D — Google review
One of my favorite beaches in Lagos! I’m too afraid of being at the bottom of the cliffs on the small beaches like Dona Anna and recommend this location for safety and great walking opportunities as it’s really long.
Jenelle — Google review
Kilometers of sandy beach goodness! For a city beach, you just can not top this, by foot from the Lagos center or by car, in a few minutes you are on a beautifu windyl beach! There are lifeguards everywhere, every 200m there is a bar with deck chairs and parasols (15eur for two usually), there are places just to put your towel down and enjoy your time on the Arlantic coast! Beach was clean and well maintained, but unfortunately, we did not see any showers.

Praia da Batata is a pretty but crowded beach in Lagos, Portugal, known for its clean sands and beautiful views. It's just one of the several nice beaches within walking distance of the old town. Praia do Camilo is a small and secluded spot ideal for snorkeling, while Praia Dona Ana is sheltered by ochre-colored cliffs. Estudantes beach features a cool bridge connecting two cliffs that attracts boat trippers who come to admire this man-made treasure.
Such a cute little beach nestled between the cliffs and just a short walk from the city center. 🏖 Perfect spot for a relaxing morning sunbathing session, highly recommend! ☀️

This beach was nearest to where I was staying. Almost had the beach to myself. Then again it is the end of the season. Surprised to see the public toilets closed on the 2/11/2024 as all Saints day was the day before. Probably not opened then as it was a rainy day. This beach would be my third favourite in Lagos.
David W — Google review
Lovely beach, really nice and cozy, but also way too busy when we were there. Unless you want to lay about 10cm apart from your beach neighbours and have people step over you constantly, just enjoy the view and move on ;)
Sander S — Google review
It’s one of the ‘tunnel’ beaches so you can walk between 4 beaches through tunnels carved in the rock. Each beach felt quite different - one for ‘lads’ one for Portuguese. The steps from the lower cafe are fine but the upper boardwalk and view point is shut to come down. Theres a lot of weed at the moment (early July) so not as good as other beaches

Praia da Batata is a beautiful beach with clear water, lots of space, and a very relaxed atmosphere. Everything was clean and well maintained, making it perfect for a calm and enjoyable beach day. The Mercado de Escravos - Núcleo Museológico Rota da Escravatura is a small museum housed in a historic building that dates back to 1691. It stands on the site of the first slave market in Europe, which was established in 1444. The museum provides insight into Portugal's involvement in the slave trade, offering historical context and showcasing the atrocities of this dark period.
This museum has two locations, one on ground level where you buy the tickets and one just around the corner on the first floor (or second for US). The staff is very helpfull and friendly. On the first floor you also receive a tablet with additional information of the exibition.

Overall a quick stop - you can do everything in 30 minutes. The only thing that made this place 5/5 was a worker Miguel. He had interesting stories and actually was interested in the topic himself, which made the visit much more memorable.
David R — Google review
Careful — although the posted hours say they’re open until 1pm, if you arrive around 12:15pm you won’t be allowed in because it’s considered “too late.” I explained that I had driven an hour to get there and asked politely for a quick viewing, but they still refused. Very disappointing and not reflective of good customer service.

Historic place that's oozing with history, but the displays are disappointing with dark cabinets and captions hard to read. Interesting historically but could be so much better.
Geoff T — Google review
The only Lagos Slavery waste site Discovery in 2009-2025 President of Lagos at the time Júlio José Monteiro Barroso. The slave cemetery was discovered in the Vale da Gafaria, next to the city walls of Lagos. Active between the 15th and 16th centuries, this site functioned as both an urban dumping ground and a burial place for African slaves who arrived in the city. As they were not baptized, these individuals could not be buried in the traditional cemeteries of the time. Context and Archaeological Findings Excavations carried out at the site revealed the remains of more than 158 people, many of them buried in mass graves. Some skeletons were found with their hands tied behind their backs, revealing the inhumane conditions they endured. The site was partially destroyed during the construction of parking and mini-golf course, but the human remains were recovered for scientific study. Memory and Preservation The discovery is now recognized as the oldest known slave cemetery in Europe, representing a silent yet powerful testimony to slavery on Portuguese soil. Its historical significance led to the creation of the Slave Route Museum (Núcleo Museológico da Rota do Escravo), located in the former Slave Market building in Lagos, with the purpose of preserving and sharing the memory of this past.
Cibrario I — Google review
Words fail me qhen I think of what happened on these grounds. So very glad to have been able to see this in person.
Stacy W — Google review
Honestly shocking how they can even call this a museum about the slave trade. Virtually no information on the actual atrocities that the slaves encountered, nothing about the vast numbers of slaves or how they were treated. No pictures or names or personal stories of any slaves. No information on the perpetrators. Just a few maps of where the slave trade took place. Absolutely zero accountability. Honestly left the museum feeling angry. Would not recommend paying and giving money to this place.
Hannah K — Google review
I hope a lot of people go there because this history is important. However, I really hope the museum will invite more critical curators and improve on their exhibition. The word racism was not used in any context. It is important, in my opinion, to also teach that these legacies continue to shape socities today, albeit in different ways. Wealth is still distributed unequally and Black people in Europe and other parts of the world still face racism daily. Also, I disliked how in the English translation passive verb tenses were used. E.g. "the slaves were made to work in households and on fields" --> "Portuguese people forced African people to work in households and fields in enslaved conditions." Call out the enslavers! Also, I really dislike that so often the talk is about "slaves" --> "enslaved people" is more respectful highlighting that this is not about just any other "good" but that this is about diverse people (with dreams, cultural identities, beliefs, family) who were forcefully and violently reduced to this status and condition. Although this has more to do with US history, I recommend reading Zora Neale Hurston's "Barracoon: The story of the last 'Black cargo'". IN 1927, she interviewed Oluale Kossola who got enslaved and shipped to the US. This is what I was missing from this exhibition: The point of views of the people enslaved. And also, as someone else said, a memorial is missing. Nothing outside of the museum encourages you to stop and reflect on how many families got separated here, and what hardship people endured. Conclusio: Glad this place exists bc this is the only reminder of the trade with enslaved people. But the exhibition could be so so so much better!

Sights & Landmarks
Sacred & Religious Sites
Igreja de Santa Maria de Lagos, also known as the 'golden church' of St. Anthony, is a prominent landmark in the old town of Lagos. Founded in 1498 and expanded in the 16th and 17th centuries, this active church suffered damage during the 1755 earthquake. Adjacent to it is the museum, offering an entrance to the church and showcasing valuable historical artifacts.
This church is inspiring and an incredible place to pray. The alter is one of the most beautiful I've ever seen, and I've been to Rome! as well as all over Britain. Had a truly blessed time here in our majesties presence.

Beautiful church. We got married here at the end of August so it will always hold a very special place for us. Lovely detailed church inside with beautiful art work. Outside has recently been restored and it looked just perfect. Lovely square right outside also.
Michelle K — Google review
There are two profound visual and sensory experiences that I will always associate with my visit to St Mary's, Lagos. Firstly its façade - though plain - made glorious by the vibrant, violet blossom of the jacaranda trees that frame the approach to the church. Secondly, within its darkened interior, the extraordinary impact of a crucifix, illuminated within an alcove above the high altar. Painted behind this life-sized representation of Our Crucified Lord is a group of winged angels, basking within beams of pink, purple and orange light that cascade around the curvature of the recess. It is an optical experience that one of my travelling companions described as "trippy"! On Saturday 23 September 2023, I was privileged to attend the vigil mass here, which was a wonderful experience. Worship music was led by a young male organist, accompanied by a choir of about six ladies, soprano and alto. A young lady with a beautiful voice acted as cantor, and the mass was celebrated by the parish priest, Fr Nelson Rodrigues, who, judging by the smiling faces seen all around the church during the course of his animated address, is clearly well beloved of his flock!

Lovely church, nice architecture and beautiful artwork inside

It's a small church you'll find on your way truth Lagos. Inside of the church looks almost like every church, except for the small chapel made from paper. (We visited the church in February so I don't know if it's still there). So inside you'll find a tribute to jesus and you'll get the opportunity to pray.

Beautiful Church in the heart of Lagos that holds daily Masses and opens the Church to the public for the rest of the day. Sunday Mass is at 11:30am and 6pm, will definitely be attending here.

typical old local church, not really a grandeur, but gives u a feeling of serenity, solitude and simplicity. On the square just outside the church is usually something going on, like live music and some dancing when we passed by one night.

Centro Ciência Viva de Lagos is an engaging indoor-outdoor science museum designed for families, featuring interactive displays and activities. The exhibition focuses on 'The Portuguese Maritime Discoveries,' offering an entertaining and educational experience for children, especially on cloudy days. Through games, puzzles, and interactive modules, the museum brings Portugal's seafaring heritage to life while bridging the gap between past discoveries and present knowledge.
Fun place to visit with kiddos on a rainy day. Although not all activities were straight forward the staff was very helpful in explaining it to us. Facility was clean.

We visited two weeks ago with our children and had a wonderful time. There were plenty of interactive and educational activities and games. We also joined a "slime-making" workshop, which the kids absolutely loved! The staff were very friendly and took the time to show us around and explain everything. A fantastic experience overall!

Great little science museum, well maintained and knowledgeable staff. It will keep your little ones busy for a while.

Although this little science museum has some interesting displays, it's definitely aimed more towards children. Thankfully it wasn't expensive. The staff were very nice, both helpful and polite, with good language skills for us foreigners. There are toilets within the building and a chic cafe right next door.

It's perfect for children between the ages of 8 and 14. Clean and easy to navigate around the museum. There was staff who explained how certain instruments worked and spoke very good English indeed. Nice restaurant on the rooftop with views of the harbour. The little garden area was a bonus as it kids occupied for most of the afternoon. Would definitely recommend 👌

Interesting interactive place for the kids and adults. Inside of the museum playground where parents can relax in the shadow while kids having fun.
Manon — Google review
I travelled 30 minutes for this museum and I cant say I wasnt disappointed, firstly there is no parking, even though at the entrance I saw 2 cars parked, if they could at least let in a few cars that would be convenient, especially because most people are travelling with children. I had to drive round the town twice just to find parking. At the entrance the woman sitting there didn't when bother to get up and assist with the door seeing I had a child and a stroller, she just watched me struggle. There were some stuff at the reception my daughter touched and she was told not to. As a "touch everything" museum I'd assume everything is touchable, they should really remove the stuff that cannot be touched to higher shelves. I'm guessing they were items for sale. Entrance price is cheap which is good, however everything from there just seems a little dull, nothing seems very exciting for kids apart from the submarine that was very colourful and had sounds and buttons and twisty handles. Some of the activities need maintenance too, for example the rowing machine - only 1 row worked. The garden was fun for my daughter but it all needs maintenance, there's a lot of overgrown weeds and just seems run down. Views from the garden are quite nice of the harbour too. The boat and water activity kept my daughter entertained and she loved trying to figure out how to unlock the treasure chest. The place is quite small too, so it definitely isn't worth travelling to put yourself through so much for not much. Just take your kids to a park and you'll have the same fun! If you have older children who are genuinely interested in science then this place is interesting but it's not really well suited for children below 3 apart from the few things I mentioned above.
Shez S — Google review
Good place for having your little ones burn off some energy and give mommy and daddy a bit of a breather. Unlike most museums in Europe, they have a "please touch" policy, meaning you don't have to have eyes at the back of your head while your kids wreck the place. We got there on a sunny afternoon and found it very relaxing, especially since they have an outdoor play area and slide!

Nestled in the heart of Lagos, the Museu de Lagos Dr. José Formosinho is a treasure trove for history enthusiasts and curious travelers alike. Housed in an annex of the stunning Baroque Igreja de Santo Antonio, this museum showcases a diverse collection that spans archaeological finds, ethnographic artifacts, and artistic pieces that reflect both local and regional heritage.
Like I read it from an other review. Small local museum very well arranged, with interesting pieces. Pretty well done. It worth to visit approx 40 min. And it pleasant to walk in and visit. Nice
NAm S — Google review
Small, but perfectly formed museum! Creative displays - I especially loved the big 'Cabinet of curiosities', which was a room sized enclosure with everything from ethnography, through medieval objects to natural history exhibits. Stunning gold church interior as the last room. Simple single route through the museum. Each room had at least one tactile object with accompanying brail description.

The faulty towers of museums! An eclectic collection of anything ‘Lagos’ including some nice local art and historic paraphernalia. A very strange method of entry existed when I visited and the staff appear to have been trained by the gestapo ! All in all worth a visit especially if you qualify for consessions and it is a grey and windy day.
Christina R — Google review
Measly entrance free for an interesting museum, albeit one with a very confusing layout, with no clear directions which way to go. The pièce de resistance is St Anthony’s Chapel, right before you exit. There is no warning to the immense, gilded grandeur you’ll see. Worth the price of admission alone. Otherwise some random, beautiful artifacts and mediocre nature themed art pieces. Staff are quite kind (except for the moody reception). In and out in less than an hour.
Jennifer S — Google review
Nice little museum, worth a visit with family. You’ll spend about 20–30 minutes there. It costs around €1.50 for students or €3 for adults. When it’s smoking hot outside, it’s a good place to visit – they also have AC!

Museum is OK for the price, but the wait is too long. We waited 30 minutes on the hot streets before the angry looking fat man let inside, where we waited another 10 minutes to be let into the mostly empty museum.

The museum and church are both combined. Service is very helpful. Be aware of brake driving a day between 1300 and 1400. Exhibition is very interesting for both kids and adults. For kids you have an interactive demonstration of ships battle and outcome with melted canon AND plan of city in miniature.

Praia do Pinhão is a picturesque and secluded cove nestled between Praia dos Estudantes and Dona Ana. It boasts crystal-clear azure waters, amber sand, and towering orange cliffs that create a stunning backdrop. Accessible by a steep stone stairway or via Praia dos Estudantes at low tide, this beach offers a peaceful retreat away from the bustling crowds.
Along with the other beaches on this coast, it's very cool to see the rocks formations and enjoy the water and soft sand. If you're doing the trails at the top, beware of where you walk because the land is dry and soft. When I was there, there was a boardwalk making in progress, which is a safer alternative than the man-made paved trails.
Candice — Google review
As of July 2025 this area is closed due to falling rock activity on the cliffs. Anyway the beach is tiny and the way down strenuous. There are better and bigger beaches at each side.
Trachemysta — Google review
Beautiful place, highly recommend. We went in off season so no issues with parking & no big crowds.
Waldemar M — Google review
The view from on top of the cliffs is simply breathtaking. As for a beach, this is a nice quiet area but it can get a bit busy. There are tunnels in the rocks so you can walk from little beach to beach but be careful during high tide as the tunnels can fill up with water. The water itself was pretty clean but it was very cold even though I visited in the middle of the summer.
Marla — Google review
One of the best beaches I the Lagos area. The rocks and caves are amazing. You can walk in Some caves without taking boats or kayak. There are stone stairs taking you down to the small beach there where you can see quite a few rocks. I particularly like the caves that I can just walk in. Strongly recommend this beach.

It is divided by a central cliff connected by a small tunnel and surrounded by striking rock formations.
When you are in Lagos you can’t miss this beach. Really nice with the openings in the rocks, the crystal clear water and the beautiful bridge. If you are there at the end of the day, the setting sun makes the rocks look like gold. A really nice place!!

Great beach area that is accessible by walking from the old town or along the waterway. The beaches are small and look somewhat secluded which makes them very cool and exciting to visit. A true local gem! Mercado Municipal de Lagos offers an authentic taste of Portuguese life. The ground floor is all about fresh fish—caught the same morning and beautifully displayed. Even if you’re not buying, it’s worth seeing for the atmosphere alone. Upstairs, you’ll find fruit, vegetables, regional delicacies, and sometimes small crafts or local treats. The vendors are friendly and proud of what they sell. Everything is colorful, fresh, and full of character. Great prices too! If you’re visiting Lagos, don’t miss this place. Come early in the morning to experience the real vibe—and grab a coffee from a nearby café while you soak in the energy of the town waking up.

A charming and authentic little market in the heart of Lagos! Mercado Municipal is definitely worth a visit, especially if you're into fresh fish, local produce, and a great atmosphere. While the selection isn’t huge, the quality is high, and it’s fun to walk around and soak up the local vibe. The building has been nicely renovated, and there are also small stalls with souvenirs and local specialties. A great place to start your day if you’re looking for something a bit more local and less touristy.

This is a place with multiple stalls, so there's good and bad. We were a bit late in the day so the fish stalls were closing but they looked good. Upstairs was interesting. Avoid the fruit and veg stall. We were properly ripped off for a few tomatoes and a single peach. To cap it off they weren't the best either. Now on the other hand there is a stall selling various wines, ports, spirits, etc. The lady was lovely and very informative. She was happy to give samples and just generally excellent. Her produce was also reasonably priced and very good. Definitely return for her, but avoid the fruit stall.

Super scenery! Perfect food. Also dishes which are not at every menue. Service is friendly, correct and good. Today was my 6th visit here for lunch. It was raining cats and dogs. what a weather-show
Torsten S — Google review
What a find. There aren’t many restaurants where you can sit under the moonlight and listen to the waves crashing onto the shore - but here you can experience both. Onto the food. The swordfish carpaccio is not a common Lagos headliner, but here it is as good as I have found in any Italian Rst: smoked to perfection, and sliced perfectly. The seafood risotto probably uses artificial flavourings because it tastes too perfect and leaves that parched feeling in your mouth after it has been consumed, but this is a small indiscretion for the price you pay. Very highly recommended.

Great place to have a snack or meal in Praia do Estudiantes: Tapas were beautifully presented. Risotto de Mariscos was amazing. 100% recommended
Roberto B — Google review
The best thing about the restaurant is its location, you are high overlooking back into Lagos new town, and the ocean, it is a lovely view. Our food was nice, couldn't really fault it. Prices are a bit on the higher end, I guess you are paying for the view because we didn't pay for service. When waiting to book a table earlier in the day we were ignored until we had to put ourselves in the path of the waiter to get his attention. When we later arrived at the allocated time, again we were ignored, it took some time and again us having to move in the path of the Maitr d' to get attention to be seated after 5 mins of standing and waiting. The Maitre d'retaurant, spoke rudely and was a grump of a man. Our main course took an hour and 20 mins to arrive, the food was nice but nothing outstanding. This restaurant doesn't quite hit the mark based on our experience. I have to say it was very busy on the night and is a great location, maybe we just struck a bad night with the main waiters ? We didn't have 2 other servers that were lovely. We have seen the view now, probably wouldn't go back.
Helen F — Google review
My wife and I stopped here for a mid-day coffee because of the amazing view. We sat down and after just a bit over 15 mins of waiting I've called one of the waiters to ask them to take our order. We haven't been seen by any of the waiters, not offered a drinks menu which was missing from the table or anything for over 15 minutes. At a table close to us there was a couple sitting at a double table with 4 chairs, which at some point was split by one of the waiters (to make room for 2 more customers) but the couple was actually waiting for another couple. The lady tried to say something but the guy moved very quick and then left. I finally had my coffee as well which was good and along with the views, made a good combo. Probably it was just a bad day for the staff. Management could improve employees performance with some on-going training for their staff.

The Castle of Lagos is a well-preserved medieval fortress located by the seaside. It was originally built to protect the town from attacks and now stands as a popular tourist attraction. The castle's crenelated walls and Manueline-style window make it an ideal spot for photography enthusiasts. Adjacent to the castle, you can explore Forte da Ponta da Bandeira, which was constructed in the 17th century to defend against coastal raiders and pirates.
Just the wall, there is no castle to see. The area behind the wall leads you to small roads to the center of town. But also there is an area not open to the public. Neat to see it.

Honestly not what was expected. The castle remains appears to be on the outside alone and not in its entirety as presumed. Nevertheless it's still a good sight.

The castle was nice historical place to visit and good choice for a place which does not take very long to explore. The place is better for adults and people who don't have problems with stairs. I wouldn't go there with kids as there are many areas without proper protection from falling. There are only few parking spots.

An interesting medieval castle with an arch way. I walked through it many times while on holiday. The surrounding castle walls are worth looking at. Mostly viewed from the outside of the town and what's left of them is mostly to the North and West of the town.

A place in the middle of Lagos. It is somewhat remote from the main street where all the tourist stores are. So you have to pay attention. I will again cover my standard points. Staff: Very friendly and good English. Food: We had coffee and something sweet here. The flat white could have been a little stronger from me. The lemon cake was delicious very fluffy. The interior is somewhat minimalist but nice pictures on the wall. We mostly sat outside on the small patio. Music: This was not present on the terrace. You did hear the fanatical club music from a place next door unfortunately. If you are in the area definitely a good one to grab a cup of coffee.

The Salty Lodge is a centrally located apartment hotel in Lagos, offering modern and airy units with free Wi-Fi. The four-star destination provides stylish rooms with private bathrooms and fully equipped kitchens or kitchenettes, some even featuring balconies. Guests can enjoy a rooftop terrace, concierge services, and sea views. The property also boasts an onsite Italian restaurant and a large chill-out spot with good wifi.
As good as beach life gets in Lagos. The service is awesome but be aware there is no laundry in the rooms or at the site proper, it’s a laundry service. The rooms are comfortable and everything works. The layout of the bathrooms is tight for tall folks but the shower is spacious. Beds are comfortable and having a kitchen is great for when you are just sick of eating out (it happens, believe me) and there are lots of grocery stores with everything you could want. Highly recommended and would be tough to do better. The shared rooftop is lowkey the best part; incredible views and space to relax and take it all in with a bathroom, too! They provide beach towels and umbrellas and really we had such a lovely time. Would definitely come back!

Everything is spotless – cleanliness is truly impeccable. Accessibility is excellent, making it easy to explore the area. I highly recommend The Salty Lodge to any traveler looking for the perfect base in this beautiful location. Thank you for the outstanding hospitality!

Had a wonderful stay at The Salty Lodge recently. The apartments are very comfortable and have everything you will need during your holiday. They are spacious, airy, well lit and the kitchen has everything too. The location is superb, in the middle of all the action but surprisingly, there is no noise from the street level inside. Sea views from the terrace are amazing, one could spend hours sitting there. All the top eateries of Lagos are within a short walking distance. Joana was very kind and helpful too - there wasn't anything more we could have hoped from a holiday stay. Had a great experience overall and will highly recommend this as a place to choose for your travels.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. Our first time in Lagos so the introductory briefing on arrival was very welcome and done brilliantly. Loved the outdoor space on the top floor for sunshine, fresh air and the view. The 'magic cupboard' on the ground floor from which we borrowed beach chairs, beach towels, a bodyboard and then salt and oils for cooking is just fantastic. Apartment is great anyway, this is an added bonus. Salty Lodge is in the best position we could have hoped for right on the main street . Lovely clean and well equipped Apartment with friendly staff and great add ons as detailed make this a marvellous place to stay.

We LOVED staying at the Salty Lodge and were so happy we picked it. Such a perfect location to the beach and all the rest of the restaurants and old town. The staff were all so helpful and amazing l! We also really appreciated the daily coffee pods in the room and the use of beach towels, beach umbrellas and bikes. The roof top lounge was our favourite spot to hang out as it has such beautiful views in all directions.

My wife, daughter, and I recently stayed at The Salty Lodge in Lagos and had a wonderful experience. We had an apartment in a small condo-style building that’s run with the care of a boutique hotel. The location was excellent — right in the heart of town, close to beaches, shops, and restaurants. A huge thank you to both Joanas on staff, who were incredibly helpful before and during our stay. From clear directions on getting there to warm greetings and great local recommendations, they made everything easy and enjoyable. Comfortable, welcoming, and perfectly located — we’d gladly stay here again! Roger ,Melody & Haley

The beach's intriguing name stems from a historical shipwreck that washed ashore potatoes, adding a unique twist to its charm.
Cute spot! Dropped by here for a quick drink before our kayaking tour. Very reasonable prices and the staff was really nice & friendly. Happy we found this hidden gem during our trip to Lagos.

Nice place for a beer looking at the ocean. THE BEST staff I met in Lagos: polite, friendly, efficient (a rarity) and spoke perfect english (I was served by someone seemingly from UK). Beware: touristic price (4.50 Euros for a large beer). Beer was great, though. Just missing some "healthy" snacks like olives, peanuts or tremoços (they just serve industrialized chips).

Old Town Hostel is a laid-back accommodation option that boasts a communal kitchen, TV lounge, and a rooftop terrace with stunning ocean views. The hostel has received high praise for its welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff. Guests have highlighted the cleanliness and comfort of the accommodations, as well as the opportunity to socialize with fellow travelers in the common areas. The location is described as vibrant, with numerous bars and similar hostels nearby.
The best hostel in all of Portugal, the boys who run it are super nice and accomodating to everyone. The rooms and bathrooms are always clean and the vibe is always immaculate, stayed 8 nights but could’ve stayed longer!
Felicity H — Google review
Our less favorite hostel in Portugal, it’s still ok. Bunk beds are 3 high with bars that hurt your feet a lot. All common areas close at midnight. There is really not enough space in the room to put suitcases. The lockers are also very small. The kitchen is really small to cook properly. The staff was really nice and we still enjoyed our time there, but not a big ambiance. I recommend you to take another hostel:)
Kassandra B — Google review
Chill, veryy small hostel, great location just a street over from all action so it’s convenient but not too loud. The rooms are kinda cramped and a little dirty but not a big deal, kitchen has everything you need. Bunks are 3 high & have curtains. No AC </3

One of the most relaxed hostels I’ve been to! The staff are sooo welcoming, it really is like a shared home. Everyone treats it like a home, easy to socialise and relax. They always have ‘events’ on daily and family dinner every night for cheap. The guys who work there are so easy to get on with and love to banter and make sure guests have everything they need while making themselves at home too *cough**cough* napping on the sofas … I mean working really hard ;)) if you prefer bigger hostels with a hotel vibe this isn’t the one for you but if you like a home away from home with friendly faces and a homely feel, definitely stay here. They all say it’s hard to leave old town and it genuinely is sad to leave the family you make here <33

Amazing!! Cant say enough good things. Clean, comfortable, welcoming, 20 somethings with good vibes! 3 bathrooms all with showers so you'll never have to wait too long. In a hotspot/lots of similar hostels nearby so the bars are always fun. Common rooms are perfect for getting to know fellow travellers. I stayed in the female dorm and it was very cute and clean. The place is cleaned and disinfected once per day and kept pretty tidy by the people there. The workers were awesome!

This hostel is overall pretty good. Definitely a very social hostel and is a party hostel for sure so keep that in mind if that’s not what you’re looking for! Overall good but it is very very small and the door is left unlocked all night and there are no locks on the doors of the rooms. So just be careful with valuables! I had a great time and met some really cool people :)

This hostel was great! The location was perfect to be close to all the shops and restaurants but also the beach. Filipe was wonderful throughout our stay and gave us a ton of recommendations, like which beaches were best and where we could find food after all the restaurants closed. Overall great experience!

New hostel, opened in June 2017. Has very spacious rooms, which is a real bonus for a hostel. Makes it easier to share the space with other people and enjoy a wonderful holiday on a low-budget. The position is right in the heart of the city, which makes it great for for day and night time activities. The personnel is nice, kind and always happy to help. I will definitely come back again. In total it has been one of the best experiences of my trip to portugal!

Restaurant
Restaurante The Garden is a laid-back, open-air eatery in Lagos, Portugal that offers a mix of Mediterranean and international cuisine. The restaurant is known for its relaxed, bohemian atmosphere with tables set among greenery and twinkling lights. Their menu features fresh salads, grilled meats, seafood, and vegetarian options made with locally sourced ingredients. In addition to the delicious food, the restaurant also offers a variety of cocktails and local craft beers.
The food was delicious and perfectly cooked, especially the grilled dishes. The service was also great — the young blonde waitress from South Africa was kind and attentive. She checked on us several times to make sure everything was okay and that we had everything we needed. It’s better to reserve a table in advance so you can choose your preferred spot, but even without a reservation, the experience is still very good. Highly recommended! And don’t forget to tip the waitstaff they really deserve it.

Lovely restaurant with a cozy vibe. We had to make a reservation a day before in order to get a table. Which is something to keep in mind if you want to visit. Soup of the day and the fish were delicious. My companion had the veggie Burger and found it a bit bland, but was pleasantly surprised by the variety of vegetarian options compared to most Portuguese restaurants. Service was good and the food was ready fast. Overall a nice experience. The garden was well tended and lovely.

Hidden Gem in Lagos. Food was really delicious, perfect sized portions and excellent value. I would highly recommend the ribs or meat plate. The chicken satay starter is incredible - the satay sauce is amazing. I would love the recipe :). They had a good selection of drinks, affordable also. The venue itself is beautiful, good music and vibe, limes hanging above!

Brilliant spot for some nice outdoor dining and drinks. Had to wait 20 minutes but could wait at the bar and had a round of drinks. But the smell of the outdoor BBQ was great. For food I had the meat plate which came with a small rack of robs, a small sausage and a peice of pork. It comes with potatoes but you can swap it to fries. The meat was delicious and fell off the bone. The pork was alright but the highlight was the ribs with the sauce. The season chicken was fresh and was seasoned correctly. The strawberry daiquiri was nice and fresh and overall the drinks were great. Overall highly recommend that you go here and it is just a nice place with some great food.

We had dinner at The Garden in Lagos this evening, and it was just as good as last year when I visited with my eldest daughter. The food is tasty, the service warm and attentive, and the atmosphere truly special. The whole place feels like one big, relaxed garden party – no rush, just good vibes, grilling, and space for everyone. Tables are booked for 90 minutes, which is perfectly fair, but if you book a late slot (after 8:30 pm), there’s no time limit. This isn’t fine dining – and that’s a good thing. It’s all about enjoying good food in a laid-back setting. Highly recommended for anyone who wants an authentic, social, and memorable evening in Lagos.

Read many mixed reviews, but can definitely say we had a great lunch here. Was a busy lunchtime but food was worth the wait. Ribs, Garden burger & Fish of the day were all excellent . You might want to confirm how you want the burgers cooked! We ordered well done and arrived Medium, still well tasty though. Yes there are flies but with any outdoor restaurants that's to be expected!
Mairead O — Google review
The only reason I'm giving this 4 stars is the walled garden didn't let in any air so it can get a bit warm, depending on where your table is. They could also use an extractor on the massive BBQ. A couple of nights I walked past and it was like the place was on fire!! Thankfully it was fine the night we ate there. Good friendly staff and great food options at reasonable prices, and good drinks menu too. I'd happily go back.

Portuguese restaurant
Don Sebastiao is a highly recommended restaurant in Lagos, known for its traditional Portuguese cuisine and cozy decor. It is popular among travelers with celiac disease as it offers naturally gluten-free options such as seafood and meat-based dishes. The restaurant, which has been open since 1979, is located in the historical area and prides itself on serving the best fish in Portugal. In addition to seafood, they also offer juicy lamb chops and other Algarvian specialties.
Excellent food and vibe in the heart of Lagos. We had a really nice lunch here sitting outside, though the interior of the restaurant is also very beautiful. I imagine it would be a great dinner spot as well. The seafood stew & the couscous were both really delicious and the service was quick and felt old school. Would recommend!

They're are lots of good restaurants in the town centre but this one stood out. Really interesting interior, excellent service and very good food. It's difficult to book a table in the busy periods because there are so many walks-ins, but only a short wait for a table. It is worth it! Plenty of tables outside but I'd recommend going inside. You escape the heat and get to enjoy the actual restaurant.

After reviews I expected amazing food, but it was just okey. My mussels was with a quite intense fishy taste as if they were not sooo fresh (or maybe that was the style) - chicken pot was good had a lot of meet. Crème brulle was very Basic. Wine was very good and staff was suuuuuuper nice!

While the look and atmosphere are great, the restaurant and food dated and tired. We had to send first bottle of expensive bubbly back back as it was vinegar and second one only just made it. The food felt similarly old school, the fresh fish was great but the rest, not what we expected. Our waiter ourself was however old school and very attentive!

Porto Mós Beach is known for its stunning high cliffs made up of layers of marl, claystone, sandstone, and limestone that reveal the geological history of the Algarve. Fossils of ancient marine creatures can be spotted in the older limestone layers. The beach offers a narrow stretch of sand at the base of these impressive cliffs, creating a unique landscape different from other nearby areas. Visitors can also witness Black Rock as evidence of past volcanic activity in the region.
One of my all time favorite beaches in the Algarve. This place is especially fun during the evening/sunset. It’s so pretty. The sand is super soft and there’s lots of room to play. Parking is easy. There aren’t big waves which could be good/bad depending on what you’re looking for!

Not as scenic or dramatic as some of the cliffside beaches in Lagos, but still a great spot that’s easily accessible for everyone. It was quite busy, with a mix of visitors from kids to older folks. 🌊⛱️ The sand was smooth and the waves were beautiful—perfect for a relaxed beach day

The Green Room in Lagos, Algarve, Portugal is a popular spot known for its delicious Mexican cuisine and cocktails. The restaurant offers a laid-back atmosphere with a social, surfy vibe that's perfect for enjoying a meal with friends. Every Tuesday evening before 7 pm, guests can enjoy a free taco of their choice with any cocktail order.
We were there for Taco Tuesday but didn't quite understand the brief. For every beer or cocktail you drink you get a free Taco. We thought it was just for the one. We had the beef and pork tostada with a Sagres and waitress recommended Paloma - delicious! And then a fish burrito, nice but not outstanding and a delicious Beef burrito. The restaurant was busy with a lot of reserved tables. Nice atmosphere. Definitely in the top 3 places we are.
Mairin B — Google review
We had dinner at The Green Room and were genuinely impressed by the quality of the food. The fajitas for two were outstanding, beautifully seasoned, generous in portion, and easily the highlight of the evening. I’d strongly recommend that dish to anyone visiting. However, the overall experience was a mixed bag. The music started off with a pleasant Brazilian vibe, but gradually shifted into very loud deep house. It quickly became overwhelming and made conversation difficult, especially as the evening progressed. The restaurant was clearly understaffed. Our beers (2nd drink order) were served only after we had already finished our main course, which detracted from the dining experience. The staff were doing their best under pressure, but the delays were noticeable. The venue was packed, which shows how popular the place is but it also meant a noisy environment and longer waiting times. If you value food above all else, it’s worth the visit. If you’re looking for a more relaxed, well-paced evening with attentive service and a pleasant ambiance, this might not be your first choice.

Good food here. If you’re veggie or vegan they have a few options which is a great find. The sweet potato flautas were delicious. The piri piri wing are SPICY be forewarned haha. Will say a bit of a strange atmosphere maybe just not our vibe. But over all good food and service.

Great Mexican restaurant in the heart of Lagos. Vegetarian friendly. Big selection of dishes. They have great cocktails and a good happy hour deal. They also have very tasty non-alcoholic drinks. We had the homemade lemonade and ginger ale which were yummy. We ordered tortilla chips, taquitos and fish tacos between the 2 of us and left very full. Can be quite busy in the evenings so would recommend making a reservation. We were lucky that a couple sitting outside didn't mind sharing their table with us.

The Museu de Cera dos Descobrimentos, also known as the Portuguese Discoveries Wax Museum, is an educational museum that opened in 2014. Located at the Lagos Marina, it features historical dioramas with wax figures depicting key individuals from Portugal's Age of Discoveries. Visitors can explore scenes showcasing the history of Portuguese explorers and their global discoveries, including their alliance with Britain.
Here you can see mapped out in different scenes with wax work figures the history of explorers from Portugal and their discovering that our world is round. Also how by marriage Britain and Portugal became the long lasting allies that still exist today. As this Museum is on the end of Lagos Marina eating and drinking in Reastraunts near by can refresh visitors. Look out into the Marina and see the replica ship to add to a walk around history lesson.

It is a nice initiative yet far from the long sought after national museum of the Discoveries that would encompass truly the history behind this amazing century. To take a good look into how we imagined its main protagonists and have a quick and highly digested knowledge of what happened, this is the place. The receptionist was very kind, and the souvenirs are also interesting. I think it takes 20 minutes to visit.

Every Saturday morning, the Levante Lagos Market transforms into a vibrant hub of local agriculture and community spirit. Nestled in Mercado do Levante, this lively market showcases an array of fresh produce including fruits, vegetables, olives, spices, and homemade goodies like preserves and baked treats. Visitors can also enjoy beautiful flower arrangements picked straight from nearby fields. The atmosphere is bustling with energy as local farmers present their goods at affordable prices.
In the building next to Lagos Bus Station you’ll find a bustling marketplace bursting with fruit and vegetables in season, honey, olives, bread and cakes and even caged birds for sale. Bring your small change to help the vendors out and your own shopping bags. We make it to the market at least once a fortnight and it's a great way to spend a Saturday morning talking to our favourite sellers

Saturday mornings, there is the local farmers market with the best fruit & veggies that you can imagine as well as bread, cakes and local snacks. Lagos Boat Tours offers an exceptional way to explore the stunning Ponta da Piedade promontory. While coastal pathways provide some views, taking a boat excursion through the maze of rock formations and sea caves is the best way to experience this natural wonder. Tickets can be easily obtained from sellers on the estuary promenade. Additionally, opting for a boat tour allows visitors to marvel at the Algarve's coastline and its beautiful rock formations up close.
I can’t put into words how great this tour was. Captain Rui has such an in depth knowledge of the area and the history, it made the tour the highlight of my holiday. We were able to get into all of the little coves/caves which gave us a better perspective on the coastline and let us appreciate the beauty of it all. A wonderful time I would definitely recommend to anyone who’s looking for the best boat tour in Lagos.

SPECTACULAR! Choose this company bc Rui and his Co-Captain Daniel were great guides. Rui, a local, has been experiencing these waters since he was 10 years old and has over 30 years experience himself giving these tours so you can feel safe with this crew! Rui was very knowledgeable, personable, skilled and a great communicator. It was a wavy day, so I didn't think we'd get to see everything but we did. He is such a good captain that we were still able to enter cool coves, go through tunnels and arches where other boat companies didn't venture in. The scenery was incredible! I highly recommend.

Wonderful tour of the Lagos coast and Ponta da Piedade! Great if you prefer smaller groups (max is 10 but we only had 5!) and a more relaxed experience. Family-owned boat company, multi-lingual and experienced captain, he maneuvered into each of the caves very skillfully, interesting narration about the history of Lagos, boat was comfortable and clean, we even got time to swim, highly recommend!

Unforgettable experience! Even though the sea wasn’t calm, Captain Rui Pedro took us smoothly surfing the waves like it was so easy and showed us the most beautiful sights of Lagos and Ponta da Piedade Caves. He even makes the tour in four languages at once. The man really knows his job. Thank you Captain Rui Pedro and his assistant Daniel for your kindness and dedication. We’re looking forward to be back.

We had such a fun and amazing trip with Lagos Boat Tours! The owner, Rui Pedro, made the tour even better with lots of interesting and funny facts about the area. You can really tell he loves what he does! Definitely a must-do.

Great 1hr tour. Rui was knowledgeable, did the tour in Spanish and English, and had great timing at the busy spots. His small boat fits into all the caves and grottos. Let us take all the photos we wanted. 10/10 experience

Fantastic boat trip and great Captain Rui. We booked a morning trip but the weather wasn’t great. Rui phoned us in plenty of time so we were still at our hotel. He rebooked us for the afternoon tour. When we arrived, it was just us as passengers! Rui is an excellent guide and very friendly. I’m not a good sailor but Rui handled his boat so well that I never felt uncomfortable. The tour is one we’ll never forget. Obrigada Rui, for a wonderful 25th wedding anniversary trip.

We did the 3 hour fun cruise from Lagos. It was absolutely the highlight of our holiday! Stunning views, an hour playing fun games in the water, great rapport on the boat with other guests. The crew were great and the drinks not expensive. This was definitely family friendly, we were a group of 3 teens and 2 parents. 100% recommend!

The tour with Discover Tours was truly incredible! From start to finish, everything was well organized and the staff were super friendly, enthusiastic, and made everyone feel welcome. One of the absolute highlights was their unique Beer Challenge such a fun and original activity that really added something special to the experience. The views along the way were breathtaking, and the whole atmosphere was just relaxed and enjoyable. It was a perfect mix of adventure, fun, and beautiful scenery. For the price, it was more than worth it an unforgettable experience that I would highly recommend to anyone visiting the area!

Great staff and an amazing tour! The sites were gorgeous and the boat was clean, stable, and had plenty of seating. Snacks and drinks were available for purchase and there were even two bathrooms. We stopped in a private lagoon for swimming and paddle sports. It was a ton of fun! We would absolutely do it again.

It was a fantastic 2 hours tour. Friendly and funny staff. Our guide McKenzie did a good job and guided us through the caves. It is definitely the most beautiful way to discover this part of Lagos, as from above the most parts are hidden. We felt safe and had a lot of fun. To be repeated next time and really recommended, if you like the water and don‘t mind some waves. M&L

Amazing trip , we got to see lodes of dolphins. The guides were very knowledgeable. The boat itself was very smooth not like the speed boats, we were able to walk around, get food and drinks from the bar inside, and the boat even had toilets. Once we had seen the dolphins we got the opportunity to jump off the boat and go for a swim as well as go down the boat’s inflatable slide. Amazing trip would definitely recommend this company!
Lizzie T — Google review
We had a lovely time on the catamaran cruise. Very friendly staff! The catamaran is very steady in the water. Some lovely time during the trip to spend in the water. And a beautifull view and the coast line. Absolutely recommendable
Stephanie T — Google review
The experience was amazing. The staff were so friendly and welcoming they made it a pleasure being on the boat. A nice boat ride out in search of the dolphins and once we found them they were playing around the boat for about 30 mins. We then headed back and dropped anchor near a rocky cove where we were able to spend 45 mins jumping off the boat via the top deck or a slide. If you want a fantastic morning or afternoon then book with these guys. The whole thing was fantastic from start to finish.
Phil P — Google review
The excursion was so much fun! Three hours was a perfect amount. There was a small water floaty and so many fun things to do. The water wasn’t cold so I loved it. We saw dolphins on the way there too! During August it’s definitely one of the busier months but we all took turns with pattleboards and pool noodles. Would recommend!

Dolphin Seafaris in Lagos offers an exciting 2.5-hour boat tour along the south coast of Portugal, where you can spot dolphins and explore stunning caves. The high-speed boats ensure a good chance of encountering these intelligent creatures. Onboard marine biologists provide insights into the local aquatic wildlife, and there's even an opportunity to take a swim.
What an incredible experience. Ran by a friendly and helpful team at both locations. The meeting point was easy to find. The boat ride itself was glorious, cruising along the coastlines with the sea breeze blowing cool air. The caves were magnificent, the guide provided information on each stop. I’d recommend sitting at the front right for the best views. Benagil cave is a must visit.

Visiting Benagil caves with their boat was amazing experience. The speed boat ride itself for getting to caves was so nice. Benagil caves is a must visit. You get to see many caves in different sizes including secret or unexpected ones. Appreciate rock formations and cliffs. To me, it was unforgettable experience and i think, it is worth for every penny. I thank you the team, the guide and the captain. I definetly recommend this company.

We went on a boat tour with Seafaris from Lagos to visit the Benagil Caves — and it was a fantastic experience! The tour was well organized, and the boat ride itself was beautiful. Our guide (Thomas) and skipper, Tom and Jerry, were excellent — both spoke perfect English, were super friendly, and made the trip fun and informative. The caves are absolutely stunning and a must-see when in the Algarve. It was the perfect mix of sightseeing and boat adventure. We highly recommend this tour with Seafaris!
Mohamad D — Google review
This tour was amazing! We got the chance to see dolphins after a long search about 20 minutes on the sea. We even surprisingly spotted a Sea Parrot, which is seldomly found in south Portugal, according to our guide. We met one family of dolphins and got so close to them. So excited. And I give great compliments to our dedicated guides. They gave us a detailed explanation about the species we saw. They’re very knowledgeable and helpful. Before we got on board, one staff also chatted with us so talkatively. We appreciate that. A very nice experience! Thank you!👍👍👍

Great Family Adventure! We had a fantastic time at Parque Aventura in Lagos. The park is well-organized, and the staff is friendly and professional. The courses offer a good mix of challenge and fun, with different levels for all abilities. Everything felt very safe, and the equipment was in great condition. Our 4-year-old son had an amazing time on the children’s course, which was perfect for his age. He loved climbing and exploring, and the staff was very patient and encouraging. It was great to see him so engaged and having fun. The setting in the middle of nature makes the experience even better. If you're looking for a fun outdoor activity for the whole family, this is definitely a great choice. We’d happily come back!

Embark on an unforgettable adventure with Sealife Dolphin Watching, where the thrill of spotting dolphins meets expert guidance from marine biologists. This tour promises a safe and enjoyable experience, adhering to strict health protocols for your peace of mind. As you glide through the stunning waters off the western coast of Algarve, you'll be captivated by playful pods of dolphins, including young ones frolicking alongside their families.
We had a great trip out, with very knowledgeable and passionate skipper and guide. We travelled maybe 10km out, boat was great, very smooth. Really lucky to find and get close to see a pod of 5 Risso's dolphins who were inquisitive to pass around the boat. Lots of good facts from the guides, and after drifting with the dolphins for 15 minutes we left them. Plenty of space on the boat to walk around so everyone could get good views. Impressed by the staff's professionalism and care to give the dolphins their space and wait for them to come to us. Would definitely recommend.
Kenneth W — Google review
This was definitely the highlight of my vacation this summer and one of those magical moments iny life. The staff was very friendly and our guide and biologist Danielle was such a lovely person and you noticed right away that she loves the animals. She also got excited as we saw quite a large group of dolphins (about 60). She was open to answer any question and was just such a wonderful animal loving person with so much knowledge. This boat trip will always be in my heart and I hope the guides also manage to make people to get more conscious about nature and the harm we can do to it, to all the animals and also to us. Thanks again for this experience and I hope I can repeat it some day. 100% worth!!!
Yamina M — Google review
Incredible experience – absolutely worth it! We took the early morning tour at 9:15 AM, which I definitely recommend – the chances of seeing dolphins seem to be higher early in the day. And wow, did it deliver: we saw over 100 dolphins, including several babies swimming alongside the adults. It was magical. The group size was small, which made everything more personal and calm. The boat ride was very smooth – you barely feel the waves, especially if you sit towards the back. Of course, once dolphins are spotted, everyone jumps up anyway and moves around to get the best view. Our guide was a marine biologist and shared tons of interesting facts about dolphins and other sea mammals. There was even a little booklet on board with more info to read during the trip – a really nice touch. Seeing dolphin families in their natural environment, undisturbed and peaceful, was an unforgettable experience. You can really tell the crew respects the animals and knows what they’re doing. Highly recommended!
Andbee — Google review
A wonderful experience, from start to finish! This is a safari style tour, which means we went out looking for dolphins and other sea creatures that were in the wild. The success of the trip depended on a number of factors such as weather, season, luck, and the skills of the two marine biologists who led the tour. They have a 96% success rate, and that is outstanding and reassuring. The boat, Sea-a-Lot is a roomy catamaran with a pair of powerful outboard motors. The seats were comfortable and the vessel, due to the catamaran design, was stable and not prone to rolling. The lead biologist, Daniela, was an absolute delight. She was the perfect combination of friendliness, knowledge and enthusiasm. She made this journey lively and enjoyable. Did we see any dolphins? Yes, we did! It took about 30-35 minutes of motoring and we saw a bunch of dorsal fins in the far horizon. We slowed down and approached placidly. It was a pod of Common Dolphins, with adults and children in the mix. They were playful and they stayed with the boat for over 30 minutes, weaving, ducking and swimming around us. It was an experience! I have swam with dolphins and visited other so-called dolphin sanctuaries before. The big difference is that these dolphins were not in captivity. Hence, a safari trip. Highly recommended!
Allan W — Google review
This boat tour in Lagos was a highlight of our trip. Guided by a passionate marine biologist, we learned so much about local marine life in a fun and engaging way. The scenery was stunning—cliffs, caves, and crystal-clear waters—and spotting dolphins was a magical bonus. Educational, relaxing, and unforgettable. Highly recommended for nature lovers!
Diana D — Google review
The staff at SeaLife is so professional and kind! Everyone involved was great, and they were incredibly nice to our 2.5yo, ensuring he was happy, safe and comfortable. We got the experience of a lifetime, (supposedly a 0.5% chance!) of seeing two Iberian Orcas !!!! The marine biologist leading the tour adds a great deal to this trip; we could tell she was thrilled and provided a ton of great information about what we were witnessing. They gave us extended time watching the Orcas but still managed to show us all of the beautiful caves within our allotted tour. Highly recommend going with this group and this tour! You get the experiences of the caves plus a very special addition of dolphin watching, too. It’s the best option especially if it’s still early in the season and too chilly to swim!

The hostel offers simple dorms and private rooms, along with an outdoor terrace featuring a pool. With rooftop BBQs, themed parties, and meal nights, this hostel guarantees an amazing atmosphere where you can meet like-minded backpackers from around the world.
Stayed here as a female solo traveller and had the best few nights! The staff are so nice and the free breakfast was delicious. The location is great and there's so much do in the surrounding areas. Definitely ask the front desk for food recommendations, I had so much fun following their recs. My room had a terrace and the view was incredible, especially during sunrise. The roof top pool is insane and the common areas are great. I cannot rave about this place enough! It truly made my time in lagos.
Julia Z — Google review
Best hostel I have stayed at within my 3 months of solo-traveling!! Safe, social, clean, and central. I stayed in a 8 person shared dorm and it was spacious, with large under-bed storage. Lots of hooks for hanging things, each bed had a light and outlet as well. No curtains but clean and comfy beds. The rooftop was the best part. Every morning they have a sunrise event with free tea and blankets available. I went every morning and it was beautiful overlooking the beach! The pool is open everyday, and the bar from 4pm-8pm with happy hour 4-6pm. Upon arrival you get a free beer/cider coupon to redeem, just always bring €1 because you have to give a deposit for the cup. Cash only up there as well. Laundry was good, spacious washer and dryer. €5 for wash, soap included, 2€ for dry. They had events almost every day, I went on the free pub crawl and the Algar-Seco/Benagil Cave tour. Would recommend both! Great guides, great way to meet people. Ended up extending my stay twice cause I loved it so much! Thank you so much for the great accommodation. (Stayed October 2025)
Lexie P — Google review
Super friendly staff, plenty of activities scheduled (the pub crawl was very popular with like 30 people going!), very clean rooms. Great location by the beach and lots of gift shops, restaurants and small stores. Feels safe to walk around. Excellent rooftop pool with lots of seating. My only complaint is that the wifi in the rooms is not great, but it works fine in common areas. I would definitely stay here again!

Amazing experience as a female solo traveler! Felt super safe and the whole vibe of the hostel was just amazing overall. Friendly staff, clean common areas and rooms. Only disadvantage: didn’t have drying racks to let swimming suits and towels dry.

Incredible Hostel, one of the best I have stayed in. The Staff here are amazing, they will help you in every way possible. I highly recommend joining the WhatsApp group to stay in the know about what the hostel has going on, as well as they give you recommendations on what you can do whilst you are there. Extremely clean place, they have a lovely roof terrace which includes a pool, bar and seating area. Nice place to catch an end of the day tan. Tiago runs the tour of the Bengal Caves, he is very knowledgeable and loves to talk about football if you’re into it! Lovely chap. Highly recommend joining the trip. It is good value for the €40. Breakfast in the morning is a nice touch and gets you ready for the day. There is a great food spot around the corner called “The Garden”, I advise you book the day before as it gets busy. The food and drink options are great there and it is very affordable!

A big hostel with lots of people but good organized, has good breakfast, good activites like bbq and pubcrawl, free welcome drink, cheap laundry service, kind staff. Yet beds are not comfortable, 1 euro deposit for plastic cups-even for the free welcome drink, toilets are not always so clean(i cant blame the hostel though, there are lots of people unaware of cleaning their own things). Anyways, 8.5/10.

This was a wonderful place to stay. Great staff, very friendly and stored our luggage for us when we got there early. Beautiful building and rooms, thoughtful decor, and it’s very clean and in a nice area. Great place to meet people and make friends. 10/10
Mady S — Google review
A nicely decorated, clean, and quiet hostel. However, as someone who has stayed in many different types of hostels before, I didn’t notice any particularly outstanding feature that would make me say “this was exceptional,” so I find the very high ratings a bit overrated. In my room, there was a fan instead of air conditioning — which actually turned out to be fine — but I couldn’t get rid of the damp smell in the room despite airing it out. There was no shampoo provided in the bathroom. Maybe it was just the period I stayed, but the other guests didn’t seem very eager to socialize. Of course, that’s not necessarily a bad thing, but for solo travelers hoping to meet people, this may not be the ideal place. On the positive side, the kitchen, bathrooms, and common areas were very clean, and the location was excellent. I didn’t hear any disturbing noise. It’s also nice that you can leave your backpack, use the bathroom and common areaz free of charge before check-in and after check-out. However, don’t count on being able to check in early. Overall, if you see the 4.8/5 rating and expect an unforgettable hostel experience, you might be a bit disappointed. But if you’re simply looking for a hostel that delivers what it should in a solid way, this is a good choice. My rating: 8.5/10.

It’s so cozy and family-like. Felt super safe and comfy instantly. Nice garden and rooftop and other spots to hang out. Location is very convenient for whatever you have planned. Also found the other people staying there super pleasant, which is not always the case in hostels. Thanks for a great stay :)

Highly recommend and will be staying there again.

Duna Beach is a vast sandy beach located just outside central Lagos, easily accessible from the old town. Visitors can take a short walk to the boardwalks and sand. The beach offers clean and beautiful surroundings, with a windy afternoon atmosphere. It's recommended to visit earlier in the day. A water taxi can take you across for a nominal fee, providing access to Praia da Batata beach on the other side of the channel.
Love spending time here!!! Beautifulll boardwalk, especially during sunset.
Mai B — Google review
Super nice beach. Take the small boat over the canal from the center of Lagos and you have a 2 minute walk. You can surf here when the swell is correct but it is very rare in the summer. There needs to be some storms etc. also there is no beach bars etc so bring water and food. But perfect for some hours of beach coziness
Frederik R — Google review
Charming. Almost desolate in October. Yet boasting its own train station.
Oleg B — Google review
I love this beach! This one is very clean, not crowded, shallow water and doesn’t have piles of seaweed around like (Praia dos Estudantes, Praia do Camilo etc.)
Viktoria V — Google review
As a beach it’s very much ok. The wooden walkway traversing much of it is very helpful and takes you to a number of beach shack bars and eateries. It’s probably a push to call it the dune beach as it was hardly the Sahara and it was just overly pleasant without anything of note to report. It was nicer than some of the beaches in Albufeira, although that’s not saying much. If you’re in Lagos I guess you don’t have a wealth of options so this is a decent find. On the grand scale of beaches it’s very much par for the course.
Sean W — Google review
Beautiful and clean. Windy in the afternoon so plan to go earlier. Better to stay in accommodations in old Lagos and walk here. Little boat takes you across for €1. The Praia da Batata beach is on the other side of the channel by the red and white marker and is a great beach too although much smaller
J N — Google review

Historical landmark
The City Walls of Lagos offer a charming journey through cobbled streets, cozy cafes, and quaint shops. The Old Town is best explored in the early morning to avoid crowds. While often mistaken for a castle, the city walls are a historical gem with well-preserved sections near Porta de Sao Goncalo. Despite being overshadowed by beaches and nightlife, the walls hold centuries of Phoenician, Roman, Visigoth, and Moorish history.
The city walls of Lagos are far more extensive than I thought. The best known parts are the Castle and the Porta de São Gonçalo near the waterfront, but they actually almost completely encircle the old town, as can be seen clearly on Google maps in satellite view. One can follow them running along parks, parking lots, the putting garden, private properties and narrow streets. I found them to be quite impressive.

The picturesque setting features interconnected beaches adorned with charming caves that invite exploration. For those who rise early, witnessing the sunrise here is an unforgettable experience.
Nice beach for relaxing. We visited in may and the water was quite cold so not many people were swimming. The beach was very clean and the sand was very soft. We sat there in the morning with some coffee and pastries

This beach is easy to reach by foot. Wooden planks lead the way. There is a bar nearby at beach level, it's reasonably clean (trash wise) and there were life guards. It's a VERY POPULAR beach because of the unique setting below/between big rock formations. It's free! One big dislike is for the insane amounts of seaweed both in the water and on the shore. Needless to point out that it stinks and is popular with thousands of flies.
Stéphane D — Google review
Only the seaweed spoils this beautiful beach in this delightful area on the gorgeous Algarve. It was quiet, calm, warm and set among ricks and caves. There's a small beach bar as you get down to the beach too.

São Gonçalo de Lagos is a serene and historical spot located in the old town square, paying homage to the city's patron saint. The statue itself is a work of art, set in an area rich with 16th-century buildings. Positioned near the beach, it offers a spectacular view of the cliffs and ocean, making it perfect for photography or enjoying the beach. Additionally, it serves as a viewpoint providing a stunning vista of Faro.
What a spectacular view of the cliffs, beach, and ocean. The rock formations and cave like inlets where the water crashes into are amazing. It’s a great place to take photos or enjoy the beach, even on a February day at 60 degrees.

Overlooking the beautiful Praia da Batata, you'll find a bronze statue of Conçalo de Lagos (1360-1422), a revered Portuguese Catholic priest and Augustinian friar. The statue, erected in 2001 by public subscription. It's positioned on a viewpoint offering panoramic views of the golden sands, turquoise waters, and cliffs of Praia da Batata. The statue serves as a reminder of his legacy and offers a peaceful spot to reflect while enjoying the stunning coastal scenery.

Zoo de Lagos, also known as Lagos Zoo, is a charming zoo located just outside Lagos in Portugal. It offers a delightful day out for families with young children and visitors of all ages. The zoo boasts over 140 species of animals and an extensive collection of botanical species, emphasizing animal well-being, conservation, and protection. Visitors can explore diverse habitats for birds, mammals, and reptiles while enjoying the picturesque location near Benzafrim on the A22.
This is our favourite zoo in Portugal. we have visited twice now and both times the staff have been really friendly. The animals look well looked after, and the lake is great to get up close and feed the birds. The cafe has limited food options but it's reasonable prices. There is also a kiosk to buy ice cream, etc. Toilets are clean. Many different animals to see. A small gift shop on site selling lots of cuddly toys and other gifts. Well worth a visit, we usually spend around 3 hours there.
Paula — Google review
Great experience with family! We bought tickets in advance and the process was smooth. Upon entrance, there is a nice small swimming pool and a water tank for penguins. The zoo is very clean, and the animals are well treated. I felt it was more focused on bird species, which was enjoyable, as my son loved it 😄 There are also a lot of wild animals, as well as farm animals.
Luís C — Google review
Cute little zoo. Very well kept. We went with our toddler (2 year old) and visit it all in under 2 hours. Because he just wanted to be moving. There is a small pool which we also didn’t use but it was empty almost the all Morning we were there. Went in the last week of August, it was busy but not over crowded.
Cristina C — Google review
We arrived at 10am and were basically the first people in, making for a quiet visit. The staff were all friendly and set us on our way through the zoo. While it's not a massive zoo in terms of walking distance, don't be put off by that. it has a surprisingly large number of animals. Our visit lasted from 10 until 12:30pm, so I'd recommend planning for about a two-hour walk around.
Branden S — Google review
An excellent little zoo, no mega fauna, but plenty of monkeys, birds and reptiles. A gentle two hours spent wandering, looking and reading the info boards which are in Portuguese and English. There's a nonlinear nature to walking around and you can easily miss a large section if you are not careful.
Phillip R — Google review
Despite this zoo being quite remote and small, it was pretty good. The wife and I visited here on a rather wet Monday in November. We arrived at around 10:30am to hardly any other guests or cars in the car park. The zoo is rather oddly across the road from the car park and some vehicles were not driving past in a safe manner. The entrance fee was a rather healthy €19 each for adults However, as soon as we entered we noticed that the enclosures were well designed for the animals, walkways were wide and varied to keep it interesting. The two cafes that we went to were well run with very helpful staff, luckily for us, the eating areas were covered, which kept us dry. Prices were surprisingly cheap in these cafes which was great. My only grumbles would be, better enclosure information. Some animals had no information and we had no idea what they were. One of them looked like a deer crossed with a rat and a rabbit ?? We also saw 2 dead wild animals. One of which was a dove by the flamingo enclosure that clearly had been there about a week or more and a dead mouse in a small water pool in a small enclosure, which was starting to decompose. There were quite a few toilets that were reasonably clean and well sign posted. The animals seemed to be generally well cared for and looked healthy. Overall pretty good but a bit more attention to detail is needed.
G — Google review
Fantastic day out for the family! The Zoo de Lagos was well worth the visit and considering we usually holiday in Lagos and surrounding areas we will certainly be back. We found the zoo was clean, the staff were very friendly and the animals looked to be well looked after. The enclosures were large enough not like some zoos and the appearance was more like a natural habitat which is nice to see. There were plenty of options for food and snacks around the park, reasonable prices although the smaller snacks were a little on the expensive side but not too bad. I have some pictures of their menus in my images as of July 25. We found plenty of options for toilets and any we used were spotless so fair play. They have a vast variety of animals notably birds! There are so many and plenty you don’t generally see. There are also gumball type machines with animal feed (€1) so you can feed some of the animals (not all of them so keep an eye for the signs). We finished up with a visit to their beach where you can supposedly swim alongside the penguins. They have a split penguin pool and swimming pool with viewing windows. The kids did have a swim but the penguins were a no show later on, probably a bit hot for them. Didn’t bother the kids they had a blast. There are also large changing rooms at the beach with lockers (€1 a use). As for transportation they have a large carpark if you drive and the No.6 bus from Lagos with take you up in 25-30min (it’s a nice scenic drive into the hills) for €1.60 a ticket. We took the bus and it was great, drops you right outside! When leaving you have to walk about 120m back down the road (to your right) to the bus stop as the bus does not pick up directly outside. All in all a fantastic day and highly recommended!

What a brilliant zoo! We’re on holiday and found the penguins on the Little Penguin website map, so just had to visit! Definitely a great place to visit!

Visited in October, the wooden walkways are perfectly built and very well maintained. Stunning cliff and ocean views, super clean with no litter. Easy walk and wheelchair accessible. There’s a staircase at the end if you want to go down to the water. Spacious parking area nearby, definitely worth a visit!
Martijn B — Google review
A beautiful hiking path with wooden bridges, making it an easy walk with normal shoes. Although it is part of a natural park, it clearly caters to both domestic and foreign tourists. The views of the cliffs from above are stunning, with their dramatic shapes and colors—so striking that we immediately felt tempted to see them from the ocean by boat as well. And we couldn’t resist—the boat tour gave us the perfect second perspective. Parking is limited, but we had no issues since we arrived by scooter. There were toilets available (as of March 2025), but they weren’t well maintained and the ladies/gents distinction wasn’t respected. If you visit on a sunny day, be prepared with sun protection, as the path is open and offers little shade. Overall, it’s a beautiful walk and worth visiting, but the impression is even more powerful from the boat tour. For this reason I would rate it 4 stars - though if half-stars were possible, I'd happily give 4.5.

Offre un spectacle vraiment incroyable. On peut voir toutes les roches qui ont été travaillées. We took a small path that allows us to travel a bit everywhere through all of this. You have to be careful because there are still places that are a bit tricky, so you really have to be careful. But the fact of being able to transport like this, it gives us views that we could not have if we stayed in the beaten paths. So it's really a must, if you are in Lagos you need to explore that area.

Praia do Canavial, located in Lagos, Portugal, is a popular beach known for its stunning yellow cliffs and rough seas. Accessible by walking along wooden walkways or by car, the beach offers a longer shoreline compared to other nearby beaches. While lacking the dramatic rock formations of Ponta da Piedade, Praia do Canavial is perfect for surfing and body-boarding due to the Atlantic Ocean's strong winds and waves.
Great somewhat secluded beach just a few kms / miles out of Lagos, it is walkable from the centre but maybe 30-40 minutes, easy drive and there is some parking close by, need to just a fence to find the path and go down the steps on the cliff part, it is not too rough or scary and can be down if you just take your time. Keep coming back in our stay as it just was not as busy and it felt less touristy than the main beaches. Would recommend

Well worth the climb!!! It wasn’t too bad, never so steep or narrow that I was worried about losing footing but steep enough that I slowed way down and took my time. A few places you could slide for sure. We did it with a six month old and a 3 year old but it’s probably not for everyone especially if you’re carrying a stroller etc. The beach itself is gorgeous. Dramatic, shallow, big waves but no kelp. Not much shade so bring an umbrella. Took us 15-18 minutes from the lighthouse. Go off the boardwalk where there’s a piece missing. Tried to provide some photos of the steeper parts where it gets sandy/slippery. We were so glad we made the trek.

Lagos is the port where the first enslaved Africans disembarked from Portuguese ships in 1444, marking the very beginning of the transatlantic slave trade. Yet the only acknowledgement of this history within the popular, touristic centre of the city is a small museum called the “Slave Market” which opened in 2016, in collaboration with UNESCO.

The vineyard offers guided tours and wine tastings with the opportunity to meet the producer on Wednesdays and Fridays. Visitors can explore the winery, cellar, and enjoy tasting their organic wines.
Great wine tour and lovely wine! Candi was a wonderful, attentive l host and knew her stuff. Also gave great recommendations for dinner afterwards. I received a message and tracking number from the artist, informing me about the expected delivery date for my ordered painting. I visited the art gallery in July and placed an order to have a painting shipped. The staff assured me that it would be shipped by the 27th of that month and arrive by the 2nd, which was confirmed via email. However, as of now, I haven't received either the painting or any follow-up emails.
Corine captures the beauty of the Algarve so well, and I'm glad to have brought home one of her paintings - a little piece of summer. They also offer delivery services thoughtfully, if you don’t have space in your luggage.

I have bought several, more than 8 pieces of art, assorted sizes, Impressionism, Realist and Abstract. Each one is so personal to its location around my home. Admired by so many people. Corine is such a beautiful lady, I adore visiting her each time I visit Lagos, Portugal.

Unfortunately, the opening times aren’t particularly well adhered to here in my experience. But when the store is open there are nice prints and original pieces by this artist. I would like there to be more prints on paper rather than the majority on canvas. Overall a nice gallery with some nice pieces to remember your time in the Algarve.

Bought a few pieces today and I’m really happy with them. Between their two stores in Old Town, there is a lot of variety to choose from. Corine and her staff are very helpful as well.

Amazing paintings! We really wanted one but only had hand luggage to fit it in but the man in the shop offered to roll it up for us. Back in the UK now and he packaged it with such care that it's completely undamaged. So glad we popped by, now we have a lovely souvenir of our holiday in Lagos

Very beautiful paintings and they can pack and send the paintings.

(Updated) Received message and tracking number from the artist and now have an expected delivery date. {Visited the shop in July and ordered a painting to be shipped. They assured us that it would ship by the 27th and arrive the 2nd with an email confirmation. No painting, no email so far. More than a little worried and will update this review if it arrives soon.}
