Store
Tobermory Stores is a fantastic place to purchase tray bakes and pies, offering a delightful selection of food. The staff, namely Frances and Rachel, are friendly and helpful. It's worth mentioning Rachel's impressive skills in the kitchen. However, there have been instances where an older woman with dark hair and glasses behind the counter seemed more interested in her mobile phone than attending to customers waiting in line – an unusual behavior that stood out.
5/5 Stars – Small Shop, Big Vibes, Double Caffeine Hit Strolled into the Tobermory store thinking I’d grab a quick coffee… walked out buzzing like a bagpipe at a ceilidh after two back-to-back cups of pure caffeinated heaven. Honestly, the coffee here is so good I briefly considered pitching a tent outside just to be closer to the source. The staff? Absolutely lovely—friendly, helpful, and somehow managed to talk to me like a normal person even while I was clearly vibrating from caffeine overload. They know their stuff and are more than happy to chat beans, brews, and what blend will best launch you into orbit (in a good way). And for such a small shop, the selection is brilliant! Beans, merch, gear—you name it. It’s like Mary Poppins’ coffee cupboard: just keeps giving. You think you’ve seen everything, then bam, more cool stuff tucked into a corner like a caffeine-themed treasure chest. If you’re in Tobermory and don’t go here, you’ve made a mistake. Possibly a life-altering one. Go. Get the coffee. Maybe get two. Just don’t blame me when you start seeing sounds.

During our various stays in Tobermory, we regularly visited the Tobermory Stores. Not only do I have to mention the extremly friendly staff. Also, the surprisingly wide range of local produce and wonderful fresh pastries make it worth a visit. We are already looking forward to our visit in 2026.

Fabulous takeaway lunch today snd goid value too. Delicious soup and a gorgeous toasted sandwich, brought out to us by staff while we enjoyed the view from the bench opposite. Good quality food and great service. Thanks guys!
Judith C — Google review
What a super little shop. Best coffee we had in Scotland (agree with Lee's humorous review) and lovely takeaway Scottish breakfast. Very friendly people too.
Sarah W — Google review
Fantastic range of local produce. We got Isle of Mull cheese, seaweed chutney and spicy seaweed sauce here... as well as fresh and handmade produce. Not really pricey either! Friendly staff service too...
Simon W — Google review
Great wee store. We came here most days during our trip to mull. Good vegan take away options and oat milk latte. We also bought items for cooking while camping.
Pamela M — Google review
A gem of a shop - lovely range of organic food and eco toiletries, fresh fruit and veg, takeaway pastries, cakes and hot drinks. The people running it couldn’t be more helpful and friendly, even finding a tin opener to open the tin I’d bought.
Jeanette H — Google review
Went in this morning 09/07/25 ordered extra large latte with caramel and extra shot of espresso, a beef slice pastry hot and pork sausage roll hot, which neither were. I should point out that Mrs. Wilson was not there at the time because this is the first time I have been disappointed with usually constant high quality of service and attitude from the staff in the store. I have not finished either of the mostly cold to lukewarm snacks, and humbly apologise to Mrs. Wilson for this very untypical review of Tobermory stores which again has always been consistently excellent in my 2 months in Tobermory. Tobermory Chocolate is a unique cafe and farm shop located at The Glass Barn, SGRIOB-RUADH. They offer a variety of homemade chocolates, including hot chocolate and mocha served in the cafe, as well as a selection of handcrafted chocolates available for purchase. In addition to their chocolate offerings, the shop also features an array of home decor and souvenirs.
Great little place to sit down after a full day of exploring Mull. They do their own chocolate in house so if you're in the cafe, definitely get the hot choc or a mocha, just delicious! They also have a shop full of wonderful home made chocolates, in gift boxes or you can pick your own selection. The gift shop also has some really nice things to pick up as home decor or souvenirs.
Max H — Google review
Really good chocolate. I did the pick your own chocolate thing so I got to try a few different ones. Ice cream was a bit of an expensive let down. I heard someone say it was the best ice cream they'd ever had so I had to try it. Definitely get your ice cream from the pink building across the street.
Taylor F — Google review
Beautiful chocolate, great coffee and wonderful service. Nice selection to pick from if looking for a nice treat or holiday gifts to take back home (chocolate shaped like sheep and fish). Dog friendly.

Beautiful, tranquil and friendly island. Plenty to see and do even out of summer season. Western Isles Hotel in Tobermory a special place to stay - excellent staff, rooms and meals.

Patrick C — Google review
Great little place to go for a bite to eat and drink, also has little gifts and lovely chocolate too.
Joanne M — Google review
Bought some of the choose your own chocolates and they were really delicious!
Rachel D — Google review
Good place to call for a coffee and a sit down I don’t agree with a previous reviewers comments about the coffee. It’s fine, so much so we called again at the end of our day exploring Tobermory . There is a clean loo and 6 or 7 tables. Half of the premises is a shop that sells souvenirs and a selection of home made chocolates. These are very nice but a bit pricey but fine as treat if you are on your holidays.

Gift shop
The Isle Of Mull Soap Co Ltd is a local shop run by two experienced soap makers who have been creating handmade Scottish soaps, skincare products, and unique gifts for over a decade. Their range includes luxurious skin care, delightful candles, and bath time treats that make perfect gifts. Customers rave about the quality and fragrance of their products, with some mentioning how the scents transport them back to the Isle of Mull. The shop also offers excellent customer service with quick responses to orders and thoughtful packaging.
I visited Mull for the first time in June 2023 and I had my first experience at the Isle Of Mull Soap Co. I love the soaps and I'm really pleased I can have a fragranced product without the irritated skin. I make regular orders online and it's amazing how fast they arrive. My favourite soap is Mull Heather. I also have the lip balm and Scottish Rose hand cream. All really good and natural products. Your products make a lady from North Wales very happy and I will continue to order my personal care products from yourselves.
Sarah M — Google review
We run Brockville B&B in Tobermory and are so proud to buy Isle of Mull soap company products for our guests to use. The Tobermory Soap Shop also made up amazing hampers with our favourite products, beautifully arranged and wrapped ready to gift.
Helen C — Google review
A year ago i switched from conventional shower gels to nature soap. When i discovered the soap shop on my trip to Tobermory i was really really happy to find such a huge amount of soap types and scents. I bought 6 of them and never want to switch back to other ones. Three weeks ago i ordered 15 peaces in the online shop and i was really happy that everything worked very well especially the delivery to Germany. The best - the really personal greeting card from Sophie that was included with my delivery, with best greetings from Tobermory. If i can, i will order here for the rest of my live.
Christian H — Google review
I have used Mull Soap constantly since you first opened all those years ago ! Love both Mull Lavender and Mull Heather,I used each bar alternately so I don't get used to the smell and go ' nose blind'! I come to Mull regularly so I have never had to use your online shop ! Would love a lavender lipbalm ( if you ever start making one !)
Mary H — Google review
A few years ago whilst visiting the Isle of Mull we bought some gorgeous soap bars. The soaps last for ages and smell lovely. We absolutely love all of their product range and are thrilled that we can order them online. The service is very personal and delivery is excellent. Thank you to the team. You should be very proud and your products always make us smile.
Amanda B — Google review
Products are great quality, long lasting and smell amazing 😍 the lavender and chamomile wax melt is so relaxing. Deliveries are well packaged and arrive very quick.
Isobelle C — Google review
I first bought Mull soaps last year (Sept 2023) when on a trip to Tobermory with my sister. I have since ordered soaps for myself and my sister and won't use any other brand. I love all of the ones I have chosen so far and if I was to pick a favourite it would be lavender. Thank you for your fabulous soaps and excellent customer service 🌟🌟🌟
Elizabeth F — Google review
Having visited a few years ago and purchased some soaps after our rental had some in and we liked them; I've ordered a good few times from here. In store, everyone is very friendly and there is thoughtfully laid out and pentiful variety. Online, very much the same, we've ordered a few times since our visit to the store, and have bben in the store again when we've been on the island. Will continue to shop for my soaps here.

Convenience store
Co-op Food in Tobermory is the largest shop on Mull, situated on the harbor front. Despite its small size, it offers a wide range of goods and produce. The store is well-stocked and reasonably priced compared to other supermarkets on the island, with friendly and helpful staff. However, some customers have experienced issues with the self-service checkouts and plastic packaging.
A great little shop, with a surprisingly large range considering the size. I'll echo what others have said about the self-serve tools though - I've yet to complete a shop using them without a staff-member suggesting I come to a regular till. They don't seem large enough to cope with even a couple of reusable bags.
Andrew A — Google review
If this wasn't an island and I could shop else where I would. Fruit doesn't last 24 hours if it survives getting out of the shop. Chicken never tastes like chicken. Over priced and makes you see why many buy food before coming here.
Iain M — Google review
Today I had the worst service i've ever had inside a co op. I'm a sixty year old, a single man with two well-behaved labradors. I appreciate the sign on the door "assistance dogs only", but I travel alone and today, in the hot weather, I needed water for the dogs and a soft drink for me. I found exactly what I needed really quickly and made my way to the till, hoping to get out quickly. The lady on the checkout with nothing less than a nazi like manner, telling me that I had to leave the shop because I had the two dogs with me. I totally get that some people are allergic to dogs, but an assistance dog still has hair and saliva. There is no national database for assistance Dogs in the uk, nor is there any standardised training or registration. The woman showed no compassion or understanding, In fact was down right rude. She was also rude to a lady behind me, in the queue who had inadvertently jumped in but didn't realize it. Someone who I presumed to be a manager, passed behind me indicated to the checkout lady about the dogs, to which she said. "I've already told him". It might be an idea to put a hook near the door, not halfway down the building, so an owner can see their dogs, and more importantly, so the dogs can see the owner. Incidentally, my 2 local co ops at home, both allow me in with the dog provided i am doing a quick run to pick up something. My dog works for a registered charity. I gave two stars rather than one because the product I was looking for all was available and it was nicely chilled in a fridge. I think they must keep their staff in the same area. Dear Tobermory COOP, get yourself some customer service training, learn how to speak to people, and behave by humans.
Ian G — Google review
I was double charged and thier attitude was terrible we had gotten ferry over where only on day trip took £40 out my account n where like it doesn't matter it will bounce back i had to complain to manager to get cash refund instead and that was after the cashier lying saying my first payment hadn't gone threw even though I told her it said approved definitely give it a wide berth......mistakes happen faor enough but dont make it worse with bad customer servie
Tracy D — Google review
AGGRESSIVE and DANGEROUS morning staff. Be warned, the staff who work the early shift moving trolleys are threatening, aggressive and not to be approached. After legally parking my car on the road outside the store, I had my car surrounded by trolleys (so I couldn’t enter my car) then as I removed them, had a trolley shoved aggressively into my face by a trolley Co-Op employee. I’d give this store a wide birth.
Jack — Google review
I don't understand what people are complaining about. Compared to the other supermarkets/grocery stores on the island, it's reasonably priced, well-stocked and has civilised opening hours. Gets my approval.
Richard E — Google review
Good shop for a few items, but not for big shops, as the self-service ma comes are frustrating. The ready made sandwiches are nice and the staff sure move as well.
Jack M — Google review
Would be 5 stars but the self service checkouts are a joke - we've never experienced anything so bad. Not sure if it is this branch only, or all Co-op self service tills. Avoid them like the plague. On the plus side, the staff were very apologetic and patient. Also, there are a heck of a lot of items encased in plastic, which given the Co-ops rep' I was surprised at. On the plus side it is a small but very well stocked store.

Tackle & Books is a charming shop located in Mull, offering a wide selection of fishing paraphernalia and an extensive collection of books on various topics. The store caters to fishing enthusiasts with everything from rods to hooks, while also providing an array of books on wildlife, foraging, cooking, Scottish life, history, and more. Visitors appreciate the friendly and helpful staff who offer local advice and assistance.
While on a family vacation to scotland, I found this little shop and grabbed a a collapsible rod and a pack of spoon lures and proceeded to catch an ocean trout and 4 mackerel on the shores of loch long. Made an awesome vacation even better!
James B — Google review
Shop has everything you need to go fishing here on Mull. The prices are reasonable too. The place (no pun) has bait too for both sea and game anglers, although I didn't see much by way of flies for trout. The staff are fab; knowledgeable about the area and where to fish. They also produce a flyer 'fantastic fishing on Mull' it's full of useful information on fresh water lochs and permits. I wish other places did the same! Bank fishing from the area around Tobermory is limited, and for sea anglers the best method other than from a boat, is float fishing from the bank, the seabed here is rocky and eats tackle, you have been warned. Well worth a visit.
Bill M — Google review
We understand shops having policies that do not allow for dogs, we always ask prior to fully entering a store if we can come in with our dog. However, responding to a question of “are dogs allowed?” with “well behaved dogs yes… so long as they don’t shake” on a day with an amber warning for rain is frustrating, completely understandable to only allow well behaved dogs, but whether a dog shakes after coming in from the rain isn’t something we can train for. It’s rubbing salt in the wound to laugh when we are honest to tell you he would probably shake in the entrance. Yes or no would have sufficed. I would have happily waited outside with our dog while my partner shopped but the rudeness deterred us. Most of Tobermory shops are not dog friendly, which is unfortunate on a very wet, windy first day of a holiday. Brown’s Tobermory were more than happy to accommodate for anyone wanting friendly service that is also dog friendly.
Alice W — Google review
A reasonable selection of fishing tackle. All suited to the surrounding area. Low prices on everything. Perhaps missing certain items in a range, such as missing floating fly lines in the fly line range, or certain types of flies missjng from fly range.
Ben R — Google review
A great book shop in Tobermory. A wide selection of children’s books, local books and gifts.
Alice — Google review
A wonderful wee shop that caters to many things, whether you like birdwatching, fishing, hiking, art, reading, or just want a few postcards. We went on two separate days, and were helped by two different people, but both were very friendly and accommodating. Had a nice chat both times :)
Nikolai H — Google review
Fair range of tackle for an island but lacking in helpful advice on the day I visited!to get a permit.
Rob T — Google review
I loved everything about this wee shop at the end of the main street. The owner was helpful and friendly, the selection of books was almost as though she stocked her shelves just for me. Rows upon rows of books on wildlife, foraging, baking, cooking, scottish life and plant life, history, folk tales, myths... And they do sell tackle and items for all your fishing needs as well! It was very difficult not to buy more books than I did, but I absolutely loved this shop and if you love books, nature, and fishing, then this is the shop for you, too!

Mull Pottery is a charming ceramics studio located in the scenic village of Tobermory on the Isle of Mull. The pottery, known for its high-fired, hand-thrown creations, draws inspiration from the stunning landscapes of Scotland's West Coast. Situated just a mile from Main Street, the small but inviting studio offers a unique selection of glazed earthenware pieces in cream and blue hues, reflecting artistic influences from the surrounding sea and shore.
For folk who love beautiful pottery to use every day this is one shop to visit. Over a year ago we bought this mug even though the shop was not open at the time. However the owner was kind enough to let us see him at work and sold us this wonderful mug that my wife drinks her coffee from every day in Florida reminding her of our wonderful stay on Mull.

Just recieved my tall mugs from Mull pottery. Just beautiful. Well packaged and arrived safely all the way to Hampshire. Thank you Rory.
Sally B — Google review
On Saturday we had a disaster. Dad (89/dementia) dropped and smashed Mums (also 89) mug. She had used it every day for nearly 5 years because it had a nice big handle that her frail hands could easily hold. All day I searched everywhere for a suitable replacement with no luck. On Saturday evening I emailed Rory at Mull Pottery. By Sunday morning I had a reply and he had some in stock.🥳🥳🥳. He even sent photos to confirm they were the exact mug I needed. The next day it was paid, and shipped. By Wednesday we were back to normal again. Fantastic service, that’s very hard to find nowadays. Thanks Rory. You saved the day.
Bob C — Google review
Sadly the workshop location at Baliscate is permanently closed due to the ill health of the potter. The shop in Tobermory is still open.
Nancy C — Google review
At the side of the main road from the ferries to Tobermory about a mile from Main Street. The pottery has it's own parking space for two or three cars and easy access to a few more shared car park spaces. It is fairly small inside so care is needed and bags need to be under control. The pottery is glazed earthenware style in cream and blue and it is artistically influenced by the sea and shore of the islands. Prices are reasonable and the pieces are not too large to be carried. Worth a visit if you like ceramics.

We visited this wonderful gem and was rewarded with the nicest mugs I own. I drink my coffee from them every morning, despite owning a beautiful collection of handmade mugs that I could choose from. I want to order a few more mugs as everyone who sees this design wants to have it for themselves.

Tha Dualchas an seo. Outstanding works of art you wont find anywhere else close to the main land, you can not put your trust in a better source for Authentic Silver and Gold that supports culture and traditions going back centuries for the Hebrides. I drove over 1,300 miles in 9 days in Scotland and THIS was the shop for any silver pieces you may wish to find. No cheap imports here, this is a shop supporting small communities that are extremely difficult to get to. I have read the other reviews mostly complaining about conversations, I can not imagine living in isolation on an island, day in and day out selling your wears to the world and having to explain traditions over and over to people who feel they are entitled to culture, are there as tourists and do not participate in cultural preservation other than heraldry. If you come into this shop and are not ready to pay your respect to the folks living on the island, by all means go somewhere else. If you come in this shop with the slightest grasp on Gaidhlig and Pictish culture and language you will find it an absolute treasure trove. The gal behind the counter is extremely knowledgeable and selective to what she shares about the culture to those who are humble enough to ask and worthy of the knowledge. Leave your entitlement at the door and go home happy.

I would give zero stars if possible. Never before have I been made to feel so unwelcome in a shop. The moment we walked in the "lady" behind the counter simply stopped dead in her tracks and just stared at us. Even a hello did not prompt a response. Such a shame as their were some nice rings which I wanted to purchase for my wife. They could take some customer service tips from the other businesses in Tobermory. Simply awful.

Lovely friendly staff who let you browse without feeling you had to buy. Beautiful variety of jewellery from affordable to the in my dreams. Would recommend a visit. One thing you could do is put more examples of your work on your Internet site as it doesn't do your work justice.

Sent my ring off on Monday to be sized up and had it back and on my finger on Thursday morning! Paul even phoned me to double check the sizing. Amazing service from a fabulous and unique shop ☺

Fyi i have been informed today after much research and via a seller that this companyis selling cheap chinese copies. They do not last bit have been priced the same as genuine knes. Do not be stung like i was.... my experience...Bought a beautiful silver ring here with opal and topaz. Wore once and the gold brass wire turned brittle and brown. Phoned up and she owner brashly dismissed me and said there's nothing to be done. Ring was not cheap so as you can imagine very disheartened

Gift shop
Island Blue Tobermory is a gift shop on the islands that offers a wide range of trinkets and homeware. Visitors can find candles, mugs, knitwear, soft toys, and items featuring artwork by Jolomo, a beloved Scottish artist. The company provides prompt service when fulfilling orders, but there have been instances where Royal Mail failed to deliver after two weeks.
I ordered a reed diffuser which was dealt with very promptly and dispatched within a couple of days. Unfortunately Royal Mail have failed to deliver 2 weeks after posting. However, when I contacted both Martin and Daniel from the company about the situation, they offered me a refund which was processed in under 24hrs. Excellent service in these difficult times.

Island Blue is a delightful little gem in Tobermory. The store is filled with a wonderful selection of gifts, perfect for finding something special to remember your trip. I particularly loved their hand cream – a lovely product that felt like a real treat. The shop has a welcoming atmosphere, making it a pleasure to browse. Definitely worth a stop if you’re in town!

Wish I’d had time to go back in the morning. I’d say it’s the best store along the strip. Lovely products and not over priced. Nic owner too!

There is a vast selection of pieces to choose from, making it hard to decide on just one. Visitors can expect to find captivating prints, such as the scenic Tobermory print, which serves as a delightful keepsake. The manager is friendly and helpful, adding to the overall positive experience. This gallery is a must-visit destination for anyone exploring Mull.
Delicious cakes and Thai curry puffs, and the people were very kind. The gallery was beautiful and we bought ourselves some gorgeous cards and prints and a few picture books. Feeling lucky that we stopped by :)

I have to credit this Gallery/ Cafe with some of the best hospitality, quality products and excellent food. Martin could not do more to please and his wife’s cooking is amazing. There are regular cafe items but also some with a Thai flavour. I rarely succumb to buying souvenirs or presents for home but I just could not resist the wildlife mugs which they will arrange to send to me. (No room in my bike) Highly recommend a visit! -Sorry, I didn’t take any photos ☹️

I stopped in for a hot drink and loved the decor, awesome collection of gifts, art, books, etc. The owners are so lovely, my bus flew by 15 minutes early and Martin drove me to catch it up! It's a condensed collection over winter but the coffee was very good and they have soya milk and vegan cake! Excellent vibe immersed in beautiful things! Look forward to visiting in summer for the full collection ☺️

Make sure to grab a vegetarian Thai curry puff along with a pot of tea or coffee in the very relaxed café.

Amazing selection of beautiful Mull art. We loved looking round the gallery which is really well curated. This place is brilliant value for money and has so much to offer it is difficult to pick! We chose 2 pieces but could have easily come home with more. We now have a beautiful print of Tobermory on our wall as a memento of our holiday. The manager was very friendly and helpful, a real credit to the gallery. This is a must visit for everyone holidaying on Mull.
