Loch Lomond is a picturesque highlands lake offering waterside paths, cruises, adventure attractions, golfing opportunities, and charming villages. To increase the chances of wildlife encounters, staying outdoors in the Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park is recommended. There are various accommodation options available from simple meadow pitches to luxurious log cabins with easy access to Scottish wildlife.
A stunning loch, with plenty of walking routes around it. There's plenty of options for a bit of wild swimming. We walked alongside it while walking the West Highland Way.
Donna W — Google review
Beautiful lake. The boat trip is a must. A walk to the castle is pleasant and quite relaxing. This is a visit to a wonderful park. Not a walk on nature. Overall, I recommend the trip.
F M — Google review
A place worth experiencing when you visit Scotland. Everything here is wonderful, from the natural scenery to the people. You can explore this place by both land and water.
Khánh N — Google review
What a beautiful place to explore. Had a cruise on the lake which is a must. On a good day you can walk around the loch and climb the Ben Lomond and do a scenic walk in one of the loch’s islands. Make sure you allocate enough time to be able to do most of the activities.

🌊 My Visit to Loch Lomond, Scotland Visiting Loch Lomond was a breathtaking experience. Located just about an hour from Glasgow, it is the largest freshwater loch in Scotland and part of the stunning Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park. Surrounded by rolling hills, forests, and charming villages, the scenery is simply spectacular. I enjoyed a leisurely walk along the shore, boat rides on the loch, and exploring the picturesque village of Luss. The calm waters, reflections of the hills, and peaceful atmosphere make it a perfect spot for photography, picnics, and relaxation. Visitor Tips: Bring comfortable walking shoes for trails, and pack snacks or a picnic. Boat tours and water activities are available during summer months. Early morning or late afternoon visits offer the best light for photos and fewer crowds. How to Reach: Loch Lomond is accessible by car via the A82 from Glasgow or by train to Balloch with onward local transport. Overall, Loch Lomond is a must-visit for nature lovers, photographers, and anyone seeking tranquility amidst Scotland’s iconic landscapes.

Lovely scenery and it's a very large area so plenty to see if you are up for a bit of a walk
Alan G — Google review
A beautiful lake, which is beautiful irrespective of the time of the day. It has boating and some water sports options to engage with the environment. Very peaceful to just sit by the side of water and let the waves (yes! Waves in the lake water) entertain you for a while.

At its heart lies Loch Lomond, the UK's largest freshwater body, providing various water activities and scenic islands to explore. Loch Lomond is another heavenly beauties of Scotland. It has Towering Mountains, Glittering Lochs, Dense Woodlands and Several Islands. Here, you can see the mountains are kissing the water and the sky at the same time. You will see unreal beauty, if you visit on a bright sunny day. Very close to Balloch railway station. The River Cruise is a must, where you will enjoy the water, stunning mountain views and several islands in the journey. Perfect weekend trip for your family. The kids will enjoy the fullest. We took the Silver Dolphin Cruise which was amazing. A must visit place, if you are in Edinburgh or Glasgow.

A stunning place to visit. Just a few minutes walk from the train station, and you are in breath-taking scenery. There are lots of different walking trails. Dotted around the loch, there are children's play areas. There is also a castle and walled garden that you can explore. The nearest toilets are at the castle. There were picnic tables. There are hard surface paths around the loch. These are wheelchair accessible. Dog walking off lead is allowed.
Shelley C — Google review
This is amazingly beautiful place to do hiking, chilling by the water or doing water activities, it has it all covered. Little place called Luss, was a brilliant spot for us. Has got boat tours, little cafe and shop, parking and petrol station, town streets and houses are postcard perfect, the beach with white sand. Amazing experience. Weather in the morning didn't promise a nice day, but later sunshine appeared and it was lovely.
Irina M — Google review
Breathtaking! A cross between North Carolina and Colorado. We came through in March and I can only imagine what the scenery is like here in the summer and fall. We were able to see a tremendous variety of flora and fauna, from vast swatches of some of the largest daffodils I have ever seen, to wild Scottish Red Deer, which look similar to a North American Elk. The weather, while cold and damp, was almost perfect for the time of year we visited. This is a bucket list item, for sure!
Joe M — Google review
Truly a beautiful lake, I thoroughly enjoyed my time here. I can really tell the Scottish people take real good care of the lake too. Well worth a visit.
Nick — Google review
We were staying in Stirling and went on a day trip to see this area. It was amazing to see the beautiful highland landscapes and lowland rolling hills & drive through the villages.
Catherine H — Google review
Camping is allowed in this area as its outwith the Loch Lomond and Trossachs no camping zone. Parking at the Balquhidder church this route takes about an hour and a half walking. There isn't many good pitches at Lochan Eireannaich but I managed to find a good one.
Colin M — Google review
Although far for most Englanders, this is a place of extraordinary beauty. Whether you like watersports, or hiking. Quick tips: 1. Always carry midge spray. Avoid DEET though. Midges usually are the biggest annoyance in and around the area. 2. If you booked a water taxi, make sure you call them ahead of schedule if the jeti they will pick you up from is busy.

Well worth the drive. Enjoy the tour of the loch. Amazing views and stunning geography. Close to Three Lochs Drive. For those with caravans, they have electric hookups available and a bath/shower lodge as well.

An absolutely beautiful place to visit. There's a nice welcoming café, toilets, bike rental or a nice walk around the loch and also boat rides. I went on the steam ship (sir Walter Scott) and it was super. Prices vary depending on what time slots you go for but it's worth it. Totally recommend.
Steven G — Google review
Fantastic place. Very well organised. Parking and public toilets are very well organised. Was there last Saturday. Weather was brilliant. Did cruise on steamer. Recommend long walk.

Love this place, nice cafe, plenty parking space, can do the boating trip, hire a electric or pedal bike to ride along the loch which has a nice road along the loch which goes all the way to loch Lomond. I have been to this place quite a few times over one decade, still whenever i come here feels very nice…. Oh… dont forget to make a wish, there is a wishing well in front of cafe… u cant miss it……

Had a fantastic little day at loch katrine. We took and guided boat tour where we were told everything about the loch in the way round. Very interesting. Beautiful views all around. The little gift shop was nice we bought a wee highland cow for my daughter. We visited the cafe which was very pricey but lovely views food and coffee and plenty room. Highly recommend for a day out.

A bonus is the availability of EV charging stations. Overall, it’s a fantastic, family-friendly destination offering a little bit of everything. Highly recommended for its serene views and relaxing atmosphere

Loch Lomond Shores offers a mix of shopping, dining, and activities by the loch, including the Sea Life Aquarium and Bird of Prey Centre, appealing to families. While intended as a vibrant hub with events and watersports, recent reviews suggest it currently lacks atmosphere and some facilities are not well-maintained. It's a convenient stop with potential, but perhaps not consistently delivering a top-tier experience.
Ali H — Google review
Beautiful Scenery and Relaxing Atmosphere Visited Loch Lomond Shores recently and really enjoyed the natural beauty of the place. The views of the loch are stunning, especially on a clear day — perfect for a peaceful walk along the water. There’s a good mix of shops, cafés, and small attractions, which makes it a nice spot for families or a quiet day out. Parking was convenient, though a bit busy during peak hours. Some areas could do with a bit more maintenance, but overall the place felt welcoming and safe. A lovely spot to unwind and take in some classic Scottish scenery — just don't expect a full outdoor adventure unless you head further into the national park.
Adnan Q — Google review
There's a shopping mall at the shore with shops and restaurants. There's a mini golf and an aquarium. There's also kayaking and boat cruises. Lovely view from the shore
Anna S — Google review
Beautiful place! Long walks either side, during the spring/summer lots of water activites. During the end of summer is the food festival and near Christmas, is the Markets! Lots of parking, both coach and cars. Worth visiting to see the Ben in the distance.

I liked it here. Free parking. Some nice shops, large cafe and boat trips. I had a short walk around to the marina and back.

James D — Google review
Haven't been here for many years and nice to see it is still up and running. Nice array of shops with the smaller gift and souvenirs type store to designer and labels. 2 cafes in centre and heaps of parking outside. The toilets were immaculate, child, nursing and disability friendly. Great location on the Loch with Sea Life Centre, Crazy Golf, Tours ticket office and Markets on 1st and 3rd Sunday of every month. The Loch Lomond Bird of Prey centre is only 100 mtrs away also.

Such a big and beautiful park in Balloch! There’s a lovely castle to explore, clean toilets, and even a fun little fairy trail to keep things magical. Loads of space for dogs, running, and jogging perfect for a day out. The variety of trees and plants makes it feel really peaceful and green. Great spot for all ages!

Another great spot for Family. Toilets a bit far though and up the hill. Lovely play parks and lots of open green space to play all sorts of sports games or just to chill on a blanket. Stunning views. Very clear water. The only downside for us it was quite a lot of broken glass on the beach and my girls love walking bare feet. Staff tries their best to keep it clean but it is up to us actually to leave no print behind.
Iwona — Google review
This charming and tranquil location is not very well-known among tourists, making it a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of more crowded attractions. Visitors can enjoy breathtaking views of the serene lake, which adds to the area’s natural beauty. Families will find a delightful playground for children, providing a safe and fun space for them to explore and play. Convenient facilities include clean restrooms located adjacent to the historic castle, ensuring comfort for all visitors. Best of all, parking is free, making it easy to spend a leisurely day soaking in the picturesque surroundings.

First time in this park despite my many visits over the years to Balloch. Wanted to go for picturesque dog walk & was not disappointed. Perfect time of year at autumn . Will be back more often 👌🏻
Liz W — Google review
Great place for a walk and picnic. Stunning views of loch lomond. Grounds are spotlessand well maintained. The castle is closed to the public but if you have an interest in history or just like to visit beautiful buildings then its worth a visit if in the area. Public toilets are in the castle. If you walk down the hill towards the pier there is a kiosk if you want to grab an ice cream.
Sharlene R — Google review
A lovely castle that is sadly rotting away. You are able to walk around the outside, and there are toilets available. The toilets were in good condition. It should be noted they close at 2.30 pm during the winter. There is a hard surface path to the castle, but it is up a hill, so it would depend on the wheelchair type and fitness of the user.
Shelley C — Google review
I find this park to be a wonderful spot with breathtaking views of Loch Lomond, scenic walking paths, and wide open areas perfect for picnicking or unwinding. Very clean and green area. Parking is big and free, there is a huge playground for the kids, cafe and ice cream shop

We were staying in Stirling and went on a day trip to see this area. We parked in the castle parking area for free anc walked around the ruins of the 13th century castle. It was barricaded. We walked the path leading to Loch Lomond and enjoyed the views. There was a playground near the lake and our kids & grandkids enjoyed the play set.

This is an excellent trail even for a moderate level of fitness. From the moment it starts, the views along the way are simply incredible, unfolding with each step. As you climb higher, you would see the beauty of Loch Lomond and the surrounding Scottish Highlands. Summit is quite windy but views are truly spectacular. It's a must-do for anyone visiting the area and looking for a memorable outdoor adventure.

It takes 2.5 to 3 hrs to reach the top. It's totally worth it. The scenery is beautiful, just one tip to the people who are planning to hike there are 2 routes to reach the top the route which begins from left side of car park I mean which passes through a small beach , in that route near the top of Ben Lomond it gets very steep so be careful there. The right route is easy .
Wasif N — Google review
One of the most pleasant and rewarding mountain hikes I have had the pleasure of completing. Of moderate difficulty and suitable for hikers of all levels if you've got the time. The summit was very windy and 10-15C colder than the bottom, so bring layers. If you decide to do the full loop via the Ptarmigan Ridge, I recommend doing it counter-clockwise as going up the eastern side was more gradual and the path was more flat. It took us 5.5 hours to do the full loop, including a pitstop for lunch at the top.
Austin D — Google review
Definitely one of the better mountains in Scotland but it's also one of the busiest. Offer unbelievable views. The hike up needs a reasonable level of fitness though
John A — Google review
Bagged my first Munro yesterday and it just had to be the beautiful Ben Lomond on the stunning loch Lomond. We went right up the shoulder and then down the ptarmigan ridge. Wow wow wow. It took is 4 hours to reach the summit including small breaks and a half hour stop at the top. 2.5 hours to descent, with equally amazing scenery. Highly recommend this as a first Munro. Only 281 to go 💙⛰️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

My first Munro! ☺️ what a lovely and rewarding mountain hike we had. You can see Loch Lomond while you hike and the views are spectacular.
Zar N — Google review
A lovely hike for my first Munro. There's a couple of awkward spots but with a bit of care they are easily navigated. It's a continuous slope from start to finish. But the views at the top are stunning. We were lucky enough to do it with totally clear skies. If it has been raining extra care will be required as some of the rocks are slippery. It's also a busy walk so you definitely won't have the place to yourself.
Jon C — Google review
Beautiful. The climb up to the peak is very challenging and at times I thought we should turn back. But we didn’t and I’m so glad. The views from the top are breathtakingly beautiful. There are some really tricky sections on the way up which I wouldn’t have managed without my husband’s help. Be prepared, if you’re not used to tough walking this isn’t for you. But I did it and I have a mobility problem. Take your time, don’t be in a hurry. It will get your heart pumping - literally - and take as many rest breaks as you need. It took us 8.5 hours to go to the peak and back down again, but we had allowed for that time. So glad we did it.

Excellent meal - proper good quality pub grub. Lots of choice on the menu. I had fillet steak and he had fish pie. Lots of food - too much for me but thoroughly enjoyed. The service - lots of young staff was brilliant. A great find recommended to us by the owner of our nearby accommodation.

This was the first hotel we stayed at on our west highland way journey. Rooms were well maintained and clean. We shared a bathroom with one other room which wasn't bad. Staff was great and we were even able to check in early which was so appreciated after a long day. Dinner was fantastic. One of the best we had during our 12 days in Scotland.

We had an excellent meal for two here. Though they were extremely busy, all the young waiting staff were refreshing very attentive and with such a good professional approach. Not surprisingly the service was excellent and food well presented and delicious. Many thanks for making our last evening of our break in Loch Lomond feel special.

This is the second time we’ve eaten here and it did not disappoint. The atmosphere is so lovely - cosy and quaint with nice decor too. The staff are friendly and made us feel welcome. The food was 10/10 - tons of choice, big portions and delicious. I had the seafood trio to start and it tasted so fresh. The salmon was incredible - full of flavour and presented beautifully. We had multiple cocktails too and every single one was really nice and presented well. We can’t recommend this place enough - it’s a treasure.

Booked a table for a party of five for lunch mid week. Booking was easy and done in a nice manner . On arrival we were greeted and taken to the restaurant where we decided on the table and then ordered a variety of things from the menu. Staff were both helpful and nice and patient ; they had to be ,decisions decisions were slow on our part . Food came and all looked very appetising ; it was good too and everyone was happy . I remember the food from years ago being very good and while the menu style had changed the quality is still very good . No hesitation to recommend and I look forward to returning. Thank you Clachan team .

We rolled in after visiting Katrine around 18:00 pm. The parking lot was empty and saw reservations were required. We decided to give it a shot and knocked on the front door anyway. We were warmly greeted by owner/chef, Jason who welcomed us inside, started a fire, and made three amazing plates for my friends and me. Sous chef, Dave (sweet pup) provided lively company, and we enjoyed delicous meats and veggies and good conversation.

This place is mental.. It was recommended to me by a friend back in 2015 and last week we were "finally" in the area and I suggesting going there to our group of friends. BIGGEST mistake I made in years! Don't get me wrong, the place looked quite unique and I really appreciated the looks. It's got decorations, a fire place, basically it felt authentic and welcoming - probably the reason why we stayed there instead of leaving... But it was also pretty cold inside, we were seated right besides the toilet on the other end from the fireplace, and the place was pretty much empty - on a Saturday night. This should have been a red flag right there. We asked for drinks but they ran out of red wine and only had 1 glass of white wine left. I ordered beer instead, they only had bottle Corona, for a price of £6 per bottle! Note, the price wasn't written anywhere and we were not given any menu. The chef came to us to tell the menu (I requested a paper option, wanted to see the prices, but he said they didn't have one) for the night was, we were given options from 2 dishes, all fire roasted. He was recommending the chicken dish and since one of my friends was a vegetarian we chose the vegetarian option for him. We had to wait around an hour for the food to actually come and by that time I was wondering whether I should even eat due to how late it was getting... When the food came I changed my mind, it was one of the smallest portions I've seen! There was a few vegetables, some cheese and a small piece of chicken wrapped in ham. My vegetarian friend got exactly the same - just no chicken! He was angry not getting actual protein-based food but was at least happy that we won't have to pay much, I mean it's just some veggies yeah? The bill came, £92 for 3 people, which is for 3 dishes and 3 drinks (2 bottled beers and 1 hot chocolate). I double checked the vegetarian option and to my surprise, it was exactly the same, £25 per portion. You must be out of your mind to charge £25 for a mushroom, a carrot, a potato, some pepper, some onion and a bit of cheese!! I am sorry, but this is a tourist scam place, you should be ashamed for doing what you're doing, basically profiting from people that are in the area and are not aware of what kind of place is this. Btw the owner was quite ok, he was energetic, chatty and friendly. Although at times it was a bit too much to handle, in the end we just wanted to be left alone due to his directness and awkwardness.. Edit: added the photo as proof of "how packed it was" on the saturday night. Can also see the hot chocolate on the wall was £5, mains were £25, the beer price isn't shown on the wall and no drinks menu provided to show this EVEN on their website, don't believe me - go and check. I also cannot show you the receipt since I wasn't provided one, because the place had to internet, I even had to pay them by a bank transfer as opposed to through the register since their machine wasn't working either. Also downvoted to 1 star due to the owner being rude instead of accepting their fault and apologising. Ah, of course you don't sell carrots, I just noticed that the vegetarian option is only potatoes, tomatoes and mushroom, which is even worse...

The Byre Inn did not disappoint last night. Thank you Jason for the amazing food the fillet steak was stunning, thank you for getting this in especially for us. There is always a wonderful atmosphere and brilliant vibe. We look forward to seeing you next time we are here.

Not open during published open hours. We tried to call in for a drink at 1 pm as a halfway stop on our hike on 10.10.24. The lights were on, the radio blaring and a dog barking, but no one answered. There was no closed sign, and their website said it was open, so we rang both website numbers to see if it was due to open soon - no answer. It seems it's not a place to pop in for anything without notice!

Lovely little place off the beaten track. Great service from the young boy working the bar and restaurant. We had soup and a burger each, both really nice, especially the sweet potato and chilli soup. Our dog was made to feel very welcome, as were we.

Me and my wife stayed in Scotland for 11 days in our camper van we visited this gem of a place to find a couple Jason and Sharon who own this fantastic venue. The food which we ordered was made fresh and piping hot, Sharron used her outside oven to cook a fantastic pizza and mouth watering steak. Jason entertained us with the upmost professionalism that after he allowed us to stay in there car park we decided to stay three nights the place was that unique If your visiting Scotland and want a warm welcome, a relaxed atmosphere cracking delicious food come here Thank you Jason and Sharon and good luck We will see you in November

Couldn’t fault the Byre Inn. Jason is a great host. Just had a meal for 2...beautifully presented and tasted delicious. Book in advance as it does get fully booked...it’s well worth it. We’ll be back on Friday!!

Yes, it's a quirky and unusual pub slightly off the beaten track. Check out the London Red Routemaster bus (Night route 29 to Camden!) parked outside... and yes, the hosts are welcoming and friendly. I liked the pub (having been once before around 2009 when it had a previous ownership). I only stopped for a drink and didn't eat. I enjoyed my low-alcohol cider, with a couple of frozen lime-slice ice cubes - a nice touch. But it was very pricey - £5 for a low-alcohol 500 ml bottle makes the cost of a soft drink £10 per litre! I think that's overpriced, when the average pub will serve a pint of normal cider (more than 500 ml) for around £4.50 to £5. A pity about the steep price of a non-alcoholic drink. I always expect some sort of mark-up, but this was overkill. Other aspects are good if you like rustic quirky pubs in a nice setting.

The Old Mill is a charming country pub and restaurant located in the picturesque village of Killearn, just a short drive from Loch Lomond Waterfront. Housed in an 18th-century weaving mill, this cozy establishment offers exquisite cuisine in a quaint setting. The attached pub provides a perfect spot to enjoy drinks after your meal. With a kids' play area and separate pub and restaurant areas, it's ideal for families. Visitors praise the friendly service and recommend booking ahead due to its popularity.
We went to The Old Mill last weekend. The manager was very welcoming and was able to accommodate us without a booking. We had to wait for a bit but we could get pints and wait outside in the tent so it was no bother. The entire staff were brilliant and very attentive and friendly. The food was delicious, we both ordered the venison burgers with fries. We were offered a high chair for our baby who spent the entire meal babbling and chatting to the friendly staff. All in all it was a perfect day out for us and the service and food and the drive there made it worthwhile.

(Detailed review below) Food ⭐⭐⭐⭐ | Atmosphere ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ | Accessibilty ⭐⭐⭐⭐ | Cost ⭐⭐⭐⭐ | Service ⭐⭐⭐⭐ I came here recently on a Sunday with family/friends and had a really nice, relaxed time! It wasn't too busy (we had booked ahead because of our group size) and the vibe was cosy, casual and comfortable. There is an extension/outdoor area that was spacious and lovely but we were sat indoors in what I can only assume is the old mill (hence the name) and the space is a bit tight. There are sections that are wheelchair accessible but some passages are narrow or may have steps. I had the Sunday roast and really enjoyed it. The taste was great but I could have done with just a bit more roasted vegetables. Also, the knives weren't very sharp. Minor issues but something that could be improved on. My dessert (a chocolate mousse thing with a scoop of caramel ice cream) was delicious too! This place is pet friendly (indoors and outdoors) and we had a dog 🐶 with us that got some love by the staff (free water, doggy biscuits... plus lots of scratchings behind the ear). Overall, it's definitely a lovely stop even for a drink (they have a bar) and easily recommended to anyone!

The restaurant and pub is very popular in Killearn town. This 18th century former weaving mill is very charming and modern restaurant and has a beautiful rustic pub; reservations recommended during meal times! Well located with ample parking space at the back courtyard. Their service staff is friendly and welcoming. The food is freshly prepared, cooked to perfection and very delicious. Thank you for a wonderful meal; keep up the great work guys

Just visited this pub with my dog and had such a lovely experience. The food was excellent. What stood out most, though, was the staff. They were warm, welcoming and genuinely friendly, not only to me and my family but especially towards my dog. A great spot if you’re looking for good food in a really dog‑friendly atmosphere.

Really dissapointed that we wasted our money here today. Just to be clear 2 courses with a drink each came to £94 thats with a 20% discount on one of the mains... let me tell you why. Our starters were nice, presented well and tasted good, however.. We ordered steaks for the mains, medium rare. Both steaks came out blue, myself not being fussy and not being approached to ask how our meals were I ate mine, my partner however couldnt chew through half of it, left over 75% of her steak. After a complaint to the waitress at the end about this only after she asked "are you finished there" instead of "how was your meal", she reported back to say the manager had taken 20% off of 1 of the mains only (totalling £6.80) although the steak was uneaten. Didnt make a dent in it. The mac and cheese was also so bland, did not taste of cheese what so ever. Horrible experience. (We had two, 3 course meals with 2 drinks each the previous day in glasgow, for a total of £88 and the food was far superior to here) just for reference.

Visited for a few meals last week with family. Excellent food, with some of the best steak I have had. Drinks are great too, and the atmosphere is cozy whilst being neither too formal or relaxed. A great place for good food and drink, I would recommend booking in advance, especially during tourist seasons. Thursday steak night has definitely been a hit for me, so I will be aiming to visit again soon!

Nestled in the charming village of Aberfoyle, The Station Coffee Shop is a delightful spot that has quickly become a favorite among locals and visitors alike. Housed in the former railway station, this vibrant café is run by the Fraser brothers, who also own the renowned Oak Tree Inn in Balmaha. With its modern and family-friendly atmosphere, The Station offers an array of delicious coffee sourced from St Mocha, alongside hot and cold meals, snacks, and takeaway options.
In for a light lunch, prompt service pleasant atmosphere. Selection of soup 🍲 & savories, toasties, burgers 🍔, sausage rolls looked nice 😋. Cakes, snacks & selection of other treats. Coffee ☕️ very good nice blend. Coffee & other locally produced products for sale. Window seats, tables & sofa's to sit & relax. Dog 🐕 & cyclist 🚴‍♂️ friendly, I did spot a charger for e bikes & a cycle repair kit box 👍. Also a nice selection of cards & local souvenirs. Nice outside terrace with tables to sit at. Takeaway also available 😁

A great little cafe right in the centre of this lovely little village it has both indoor seating and outdoor seating with clearly marked design designated tables for dogs We had two dogs and managed to find a lovely seat outside as the weather was overcast and we managed to stay well away from the other diners which was fabulous We ordered a chicken Cajun toasted sandwich which was very tasty And the scone was absolutely wonderful. It came with fresh butter, clotted cream and jam and it came out still slightly warm. It was very very very nice. I would definitely recommend it. The tea was also loose tea in a pot, which was very nice as well The cakes looked insane.

We stopped in for a coffee here and ended up trying a scone as well. Although a little over run by cyclists stomping around in their cycle cleats, the food is great and the coffee is strong. It’s certainly a popular place. It’s convenient since it’s right across A821 from free public parking. Eventually we got a little overcrowded by cyclists standing around our table and we left. If you’ve never been here, it’s worth a try. Maybe it’ll be a different experience on a different day.

This review should've been posted last week Monday as a thank you to the lovely staff at the station coffee. I don't think I'm a "Coffee Snob" but I do LOVE my coffee, so I'm super glad we popped into this little family run café for a light bite... because they make a damn GOOD one!☕ It was so good! I ended up leaving with a bag of their Mocha coffee beans to use in my own espresso machine. We came in with our two hungry little girls for a quick lunch and were surprised to find affordable options for a young family in a charming & peaceful space. It seems to be difficult nowadays to find healthy & delicious options that can feed a whole family without regretting the cost of it later, yet this place ticked all those boxes. From lovely, quick, helpful staff, (Taylor, Tim and colleagues), to yummy grub, simple & eclectic decor and of course clean facilities.. First thing my oldest asked was "do you have colouring paper and pens?" And the answer was, "sure, there's a table at the back, go help yourself" We ordered our coffee & food at the counter, and as we approached our table our coffee was already waiting for us! 😊☕ Both our girls, one with dairy intolerance had the delicious Lentil & Carrot soup (the best soup my Scottish partner has had in a very long time according to him!) that came with an added nice touch- a toasted, hot roll... I myself couldn't help but try the Korean BBQ Chicken Burger which was definitely worth every bite! and I wasn't even hungry... I also appreciated there was an option to order it without fries, which made it cheaper! But The Coffee... WOW! If you like good coffee, I strongly recommend. Even if it's busy and you feel like you've been waiting long - trust me. It's going to be worth it. In fact, If I was local, this would've been my usual coffee spot. I was told the owners grow their own coffee and it tastes like they know what they're doing... I Absolutely loved the Mocha blend. Haven't tried the others. Yet.. This little stop made a wonderful ending to our holiday. Thanks again Taylor & Tim, You gave great customer service! The Ground Coffee Beans work perfectly with my machine... Something special to look forward to on Saturday & Sunday mornings! I'm sure I'll be back! Lia

Stopped by on the bikes. Staff were pleasant and friendly along with the other visitors. My friend and I got two different toasties, which were both fantastic. Smoothie and iced latte were good, too. Prices are reasonable as destinations like this with many tourists can be terribly priced, yet this was cheaper than many large coffee and cafe chains. The coffee shop itself is beautifully decorated both inside and out - very aesthetically pleasing. Whoever was in charge of the tunes was spot on, too.

Lovely stylish and welcoming cafe and bistro. We stopped here after our visit to the Devil's pulpit and we had a wonderful experience throughout. A stylish bright cafe restaurant serving breakfast brunch light meals. Good amount of seating indoors and outside. Family and pet friendly. I enjoyed my bacon brie panini and mint pea soup, but found the potato so so. Would have been better with the cheese heated and melted over. A lot of parking outside. Was very packed on a Sunday lunch time.

I ordered the French toast topped with Chantilly cream and fresh fruit, and it was absolutely delightful. The toast was perfectly golden and crisp on the outside, yet soft and fluffy on the inside. The Chantilly cream was light and smooth, adding just the right touch of sweetness, while the fresh fruit balanced the dish beautifully with its natural tartness. Paired with a rich and well-made mocha, it made for a truly satisfying and indulgent breakfast. Highly recommend if you’re looking for something comforting yet elegant to start your day.

We passed this place on the way to Finnich Glen (Devil’s Pulpit) and decided to stop for lunch on the return and made a great choice. There’s a great range of sandwiches and tasted paninis, an interesting soup of the day (Thai tomato) and salad (seafood). We had the French Toast, which was lovely, and I had to fight off the urge to try all the cakes and slices which looked superb. The latte at the end was sensational - it’s worth the drive here just for the coffee. It’s a lovely modern cafe with indoor and outdoor seating, and staff were just wonderful - great service, lovely people, and absolutely superb in dealing with requests for a gluten free meal.

This place is absolutely fantastic; it's my top favorite spot for enjoying a delicious breakfast and outstanding coffee. Every time I visit, I revel in the delightful food, especially the Egg Royale, which is the best I've ever had. Plus, I adore the outdoor seating area, especially when the weather is beautiful and warm—it adds to the overall charm of this wonderful place.

Glengoyne Distillery

Distillery
Food & Drink
Located between the villages of Strathblane and Killearn, Glengoyne Distillery has been producing whisky since 1833. The distillery offers guided tours, tastings, private dining experiences, and a shop for visitors to explore. It is uniquely positioned on the Highland boundary fault, with stills in the Highlands and whisky maturation in the Lowlands. Accessible facilities are available for wheelchair users, including adjusted tour routes and designated parking spaces.
We did the Glengoyne Fine & Rare Tasting with Arthur, and it was a fantastic experience. Arthur has been at the distillery for many years and his depth of knowledge really made the tasting engaging and memorable. The setting in the blending room added something special, and being able to try the Glengoyne 30 Year Old was a real highlight and rare treat. I also really appreciated that Glengoyne offers tastings and experiences past 5pm during the summer, unlike most other distilleries that close earlier—such a thoughtful touch for visitors. Overall, a beautifully run experience with great whisky and even better hospitality. Highly recommend.
Alexander K — Google review
If you're interested in whisky, do yourself a favour and book the Glengoyne Distillery Tour & Tasting; it’s hands-down one of the most enjoyable and educational experiences we’ve had in Scotland. From the moment you arrive, the setting is simply stunning. Nestled at the foot of Dumgoyne Hill and straddling the Highland Line, Glengoyne is unique in its geography, distilled in the Highlands, matured in the Lowlands. It’s picturesque, peaceful, and steeped in history. Our guide, Robert, was not only incredibly knowledgeable, but also genuinely passionate about Glengoyne’s slow, deliberate approach to whisky-making. We walked away with a true appreciation for the craft, patience, and care that goes into every drop. And then; the tasting. Wow! Whether you’re a seasoned single malt aficionado or just curious to learn more, Glengoyne is the perfect place to dive in. It's intimate, authentic, and full of heart, no gimmicks, no over-the-top flash, just a world-class whisky made the right way. Thank you for a great experience on our honeymoon!
Megan B — Google review
My wife and I did the malt masters experience and it was a blast! Our guide was Lorna who not only gave a great tour but was just an all around amazing person, she really made us feel at home and helped us as we tasted and smelled all the wonderful whiskeys before blending our own bottles! She even dipped them in wax so they look nice and official, the only downside to that is we don’t want to open them because they came out looking so good! While this was my wife’s first time visiting glengoyne it was my second and I specifically came back to it because of how kind the people are, how great their scotch is, and how beautiful the area is. If you’re a fan of scotch, or if it’s your first time in Scotland, this is the place to visit. I promise you won’t regret it!

We visited the distillery today and enjoyed the Glengoyne Tour and Tasting with Arthur, a fantastic guide and great story teller, who shared his passion for Scotch whisky with lots of charm and charisma. The distillery is in a beautiful location and the short walk up through the grounds leads to a nice wee waterfall. The 12 and 15 year old drams at the end of the tour were absolute liquid gold, and there is a well stocked shop where you can choose from a fine selection of Glengoyne single malts. We’ve visited so many distilleries over the years but this is definitely up there with the very best.

Visited Glengoyne in September with a tour group. Jennifer, our guide was excellent in explaining the history of the distillery and describing the steps to produce the scotch. Afterwards, we were invited to dram tasting of a two different aged scotch. It was wonderful your. Of course, I couldn’t leave without purchasing a 15 year old bottle that will be opened on Christmas and shared with my family.

Tour & 2 drams tasting: An enjoyable tour and tasting with our incredible guide, Jennifer, Glengoyne offers a unique peak into Scottish Highlands whiskey. The tour was informative, enjoyable, and ended with our 2 dram tasting. I was impressed that the distillery offered takeaway options for those who were driving. The shop offered a nice discount for those who had paid for a tour/tasting, and additional (smaller) tastings are available in the shop for those curious to purchase. But honestly, we were so impressed by our guide, who is clearly passionate about both the products and her company, as well as relaxed, warm, and very friendly! 5 out of 5 stars!

We also enjoyed the waterfall that feeds the distillery

Their beers are well-rated by beer lovers all over the world, making them an excellent choice for a Scottish brewery visit.
A proper, old school brewery and tap room. The server was friendly and helpful and the selection of beers on offer were great and are £5 each. There’s also a great selection of spirits and soft drinks. I’ve been drinking Loch Lomond beers for many years, so it was great to visit the heart of the company. The Wild Drover hazy IPA was my favourite. The adjacent beer shop is well stocked and core range beers at £2.80 each.

Not a huge drinker by any means, but when I do drink I like to try IPA’s & new trendy beers, I tried this one today from Loch Lomond Brewery & it was top notch! Freezing cold straight from the freezer, drank it in the back garden in the evening sun, a nice hearty beer with citrus hints & aftertaste throughout, everything down to the texture of the can was on another level, the perfect refreshment especially on a sunny evening, top class from Loch Lomond Brewery, right on the door step as well. Good job.

Loved it! A proper farm shop. Pricey, but nice to support local businesses. They have coffee & ice cream as well as other bits and bobs. A nice pit stop for some odds & ends, or if you are like me & love a farm shop, it’s great for a browse to pick up some local produce.

Ice cream is a hit or miss but once you find a flavour you like- in my case it was millionaire shortbread, then it’s impossible to stop. Bounty flavour is also decent. Expected more from the fruit flavours but they taste artificial which is a surprise. Ice cream comes at a fair price comparable to the quality and considering it’s made onsite by the milk from their own cows. Even the chocolate cone alone is bloody good. Otherwise, a lovely selection of good quality, whole food products too but anything chocolate was for me heaven there.

Venachar Lochside Luxury Scottish Wedding Venue is the perfect escape for couples looking to celebrate their special day amidst stunning Highland scenery without venturing too far from urban centers like Edinburgh and Glasgow. Nestled in the serene Trossachs National Park, this venue features a charming chalet-style building that sets the stage for an unforgettable wedding experience. The local area boasts a variety of delightful dining options, including Venachar Lochside itself, ensuring that guests can indulge in exquisite cuisine throughout their stay.
We got married in May 2023 and we couldn't praise the staff and venue more for an absolute dream weekend for myself, husband, our friends and family. Everything ran smoothly and the bar/food staff couldn't have been more kind! Nothing was too much for anyone and the service was exceptional! Even when they were low on my husbands drink of choice, they made a trip to a shop to stock up! The food was delicious with guests saying the best food they've had at any wedding. The venue was absolutely beautiful and everyone had an amazing time! The venue doesn't need much decor but Sue couldn't have been more helpful to make our vision come alive and work alongside our vendors. She even foraged for greenery the morning of our wedding for some stair decor. Our main fear was the venue would be too small however the upstairs allowed mingling and chatting whilst downstairs the dance floor was never empty and people mingled between the decking and indoors. We organised a second day with the venue as our vision was to spend our first day as a married couple with our friends and family again, hearing all about their day and of course on our paddle boards and kayaks! They couldn't have been more supportive of this and we agreed a barbecue would be the perfect day 2 for our wedding with deck games and water activities. From booking, planning and to the wedding weekend itself, it was an absolute dream! Couldn't recommend this venue more! Mr&Mrs Hill!

We got married at Venachar Lochside at the end of October and I have nothing but glowing things to say about the venue, the location, the staff, and the food. We went through the usual long run up to the wedding, and were in close contact with Sue throughout the period. Sue was amazing and supportive of our requests and the elements we wanted to include, as well as aiding us in getting the tipi for the venue. On the setup day the venue was already beautifully presented and the decorations we bought with us were lovely accentuations to what was already there. They were also not precious about us moving current decor around to best fit us. On the day, all the staff were amazing, we felt very relaxed with regards to timings and moving guests around, with the staff ensuring we were all well on track. The venue looked stunning at the side of the loch, and our photos reflected that. The food was really good (from the little I got to try with how busy we were) and everyone said they loved it. We also rented the venue for the day after the wedding for organised watersports due to its slipway and parking. It was perfect for this purpose, and allowed our wedding guests to get together to talk about the wedding after the big day. Cannot recommend Venachar Lochside highly enough, all the staff were really helpful, with Sue being amazing, the venue being beautiful, and the food being perfect and tasty for our big day.

The best Sunday lunch I’ve had in ages! Fantastic views, fantastic staff and fantastic food - what more could you want?! I loved that there was shredded chicken and gravy served in the Yorkshire pudding - the proper Yorkshire way! Very highly recommended!

We had our wedding here in October 2024 and the venue and scenery were absolutely stunning! Meghan and Sue were so organised and made the day run so smoothly! The food was incredible and we received so many compliments! Meghan was always there to answer any questions we had in the running up to our day! They also provided our wedding cake, which was beautiful, delicious and made our lives so much easier! Thankyou so much, we had the most perfect wedding day and would recommend this venue to everyone!!😁

Had our wedding here on the 9th August 2025. Everyone at the venue was so incredibly helpful, the food was amazing and they were so accommodating for dietary requirements and allergies! Would definitely recommend to anyone considering this venue for their wedding, big thank you to Sue as she was amazing!

Stunning location, very nice little building with lovely decor, polite staff and delicious food. Noticed a few reviews regarding portion size, this isn't a Wetherspoons and is more quality over quantity, so may not be to everyone's taste. It was definitely to our taste and we will definitely be back!

The Real Food Cafe

Cafe
Nestled in the heart of Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, The Real Food Cafe is a beloved pit stop for travelers seeking delicious casual fare. Renowned for its house-specialty fish 'n' chips, this bustling eatery also serves up an array of homemade soups, hearty burgers made from Scotch beef and venison, fresh Scottish salmon, vibrant salads, and delightful home-baked treats.
Stopped by The Real Food Cafe and it truly lives up to its name. The ingredients were fresh, the portions generous, and the flavors authentic. You can tell they care about quality – everything tasted homemade and nourishing. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, with friendly staff and fast service. Whether you're into healthy choices or comfort food, this place has something for everyone. We especially appreciated the attention to detail – from the clean space to the locally sourced products. Highly recommended if you're looking for honest food made right.

We are dinner and breakfast at the real food cafe. For dinner, we had the salmon salad which was great and the chicken burger which also tasted very good. We then took the carrot cake, which was light and sweet, and had a lot of cream cheese frosting. At breakfast I had the best scone I’ve ever had! White chocolate and blueberries! Even took a second one. It was freshly baked and still warm when I opened it. Perfect! The coffee was also great. The breakfast egg roll was not great, the eggs were too runny and the roll was quite dull without even any veggies inside.

A lovely little place. Very popular for travellers and walkers alike! Was lucky to get a seat as it was raining. Very cosy in the seating area with a fire. Takeaway available too. Lots of food on offer and the curry they seemed to be cooking for lunch smelled amazing! With a place outside to wash boots and hands if needed and a bucket for your walking sticks, highly recommended!

A very nice cafe located north of Loch Lomond with a nice range of freshly baked scones, cakes, slices and savory breakfast choices. Literally best scone I’ve ever had! Very helpful and lovely staff. Nice atmosphere too. Highly recommend 👍👍👍

Great stop for lunch! The haddock fish & chips were delicious, the burger was tasty, and the cinnamon roll bun was a nice treat. Convenient location on the drive from Fort William to Edinburgh, close to Glencoe with easy access. Best to come a bit early to avoid the lunch crowd!

Friendly welcome, With a note: just because a person has an accent, you do not need to speak louder:) All of the staff very attentive, pleasant and professional at the same time. The quality of the food, especially nofish tofu were gorgeous. Don't get me started on cinnamon muffin / cupcake or whatever was like food from fantasia. Despite being on an arterial road, no noise of it from the inside. But the main difference against nearby competition is the customer service. If I lived nearby, I would be an overweight happy person. Would highly recommend.

Been going through Tyndrum for years but this is the first time stopping here to eat. We weren't disappointed, chippy food in a great atmosphere even a wood fire going We had the fish and chips deal with mushy peas (which kicked in about Comrie) 🤣 tartar sauce tea and buttered roll ,free glasses of water and tomato sauce, just don't waste the sauce. Will definitely stop again and try something else on the menu. The lady shows you to your table, read the menu then place your order at the counter with your table number then it's served to you .

Great spot for breakfast on your Highlands trip! The food is excellent, and the friendliness of the staff really wins you over. But the highlight is how much respect for nature you feel all around — there’s a bird feeding area and even a tap to wash your dogs. Highly recommended!

Transportation in Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park

Getting around Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park can be a little daunting if you’re new here. We can help list some of the major public transportation methods if you don’t want to rely on a car.

Nearby airports

Glasgow Prestwick Airport

Airport
Glasgow Prestwick Airport, located in neighboring Ayrshire, is the closest airport to the region and regularly receives flights from across the UK. The airport offers convenient train connections to various stations in the region. Visitors have praised its proximity, with parking just a minute's walk from the terminal. Despite being small and offering limited amenities, travelers appreciate its efficiency and cleanliness.
I have been using Prestwick for many years as it is my local airport and I am always keen to support local wherever I can. It is small, quite quiet and old, indeed it is in need of refurbishment in many areas. It is however, also very efficient. The staff are generally good humoured (despite the ridiculously early times in most occasions) and even the passport desk team can raise the occasional smile. I just wanted to say that in recent months I have seen an improvement in how it all comes together. From the car park (one of the best priced despite the fact it’s an airport) to the check in and much improved duty free it all seems to have taken a step up, a bit more professional and all works. The cafe area is better run and even when busy it is much more efficient with decent coffee and a nice bacon roll to send you on your way. Maybe it’s not normal to review an airport but just wanted to let them and all the prospective customers know that, in my experience it is punching above its weight and, despite the fact that the building does need some investment, they are making the very best of the resources they have.

Shocking prices in a poor restaurant. The check in and security are excellent though. I know airports are known to be more expensive but £4.19 FOR A 500ML DIET COKE. RIDICULOUS!
JohnnyHollywood2 — Google review
Small low frills airport, just like the carriers that fly from it. Very limited units inside of it, so lacks choice. The airport is not in Glasgow, so be careful when considering transport options. Good connections during the day from Glasgow Central & Ayr. Landing times at night can be problematic if dependant on public transport. Staff were nice, friendly, and helpful. £3.50 charge for drop off and pick up. This charge allows you 60 minutes.

Best airport in Scotland. Unofficial military base. God knows why it's got Glasgow in name when its nowhere near Glasgow.

AVOID PRESTWICK AIRPORT/CAR PARK AT ALL COSTS. I parked my car in Car Park 3 between 5–13 July 2025, which Prestwick Airport markets as a “secure facility” with fencing, CCTV, and ticketed barrier-controlled entry/exit. When I returned from holiday, I found my car had been stripped for parts – the entire front bumper, grille, sensors, and plates removed, leaving only the headlights. Police Scotland had left a notice dated the 7th of July, showing the theft had happened almost immediately after I parked. Here’s the shocking part: Police told me I was one of a number of cars recently stripped in this same car park. God knows how many more have had the same happen since this incident. Despite barriers and CCTV being advertised, I was told there was no usable CCTV footage at all of my vehicle being attacked. These are ticketed barriers, which physically do not lift without a valid booking. It is utterly baffling how thieves could enter and exit to commit this crime without leaving a trace. Prestwick knew about multiple thefts in this exact car park yet did nothing to increase security. And their handling of my complaint? EVEN WORSE - Weeks of silence and being passed back and forth. No answers, no updates, constant delays. Eventually dumped on a solicitor, who then also left me waiting for weeks before issuing a blanket denial of responsibility. This incident has caused £3,800 worth of damage and expenses, and Prestwick Airport has refused to accept any responsibility or reimburse a penny. This car park is clearly not secure, despite how it’s marketed. If your car is damaged or stripped here, Prestwick will wash their hands of it, hide behind small print, and abandon you. Photos attached show exactly how I found my car when I returned. Prestwick Airport should be ashamed and the public deserves to know this is happening. Do not park your car here under any circumstances when travelling, in case the same happens to you.

Managed to sneak a night out in the airport, ran out of drive time, but it was a noisy morning 🙇‍♀️

If it had no stars that is what I would give shocking it is totally freezing as the air on up full everyone complaining and meant to be coming 2 hrs ago to turn it off how hard must it be to turn a switch. No matter how desperate I am for a flight I will not be coming back here . To top it all the flight is delayed by a hour everyone will have the flu by the time they get on the plane. I would rather stay at home and pull out my eyelashes than have this experience worst airport ever

Best airport around unfortunately not much choice when it comes to flights but that's all down to ryanair ruling the roost! Hassle free, quick security checks and great transport links.

Glasgow Airport

International airport
Airport
Glasgow Airport serves as a major hub for both domestic and international flights, offering convenient access to various destinations. The airport provides shuttle bus services to the city center, making transportation hassle-free for travelers. Additionally, it features a former church turned contemporary event venue known as Oran Mor, which offers a unique setting for weddings and other gatherings with its stunning stained glass and celestial ceiling mural.
The airport is not very far from the city centre. With Airport express bus service, it's just 20 minutes away. There are food facilities on the airport and enough seating capacity for the people. It's very clean as well. There was no queuing anywhere, even on a weekend, as staff managed everything really well. Noticed hot and cold water taps just after security check point. Also, there was a decent selection of perfumes and drinks. Good food chains present on it. The airport serves both international and domestic flights.

Quick turnaround during boarding security check in and arrival. You can use priority pass in their lounge which has most of the things. Menses - if you lost your bag Airport isn’t too busy Departure has almost everything including games
Yasir S — Google review
Glasgow Airport is convenient with good transport links and friendly staff. Shops and restaurants cover the basics, though prices are high. Security and baggage queues can be long, and parking is expensive. Overall, it’s practical and gets the job done, but it can feel crowded and slow at peak times
Cdakingtamudo — Google review
Small and tidy airport which is kept generally clean. Nevertheless, there are no enough seats to accommodate all passengers. Wifi is free for only 2h, and the speed is super slow, so it is technicallh non-existent. No water stations.
Yordan Y — Google review
An efficient and old school airport but does the job. No issues here. Has frequent direct bus to town. Would fly here again.
Vin C — Google review
The 500 airport express bus is total rip-off and a money spinner for Glasgow airport who have just re-tendered the ‘service’ and prices have just gone up again. I was lucky to actually raise the lack of bus services with the airports commercial director and he admitted they were happier to invest in car parking capacity than bus services. The rip-off fares aside, the service frequency drops in the early morning in the busiest hour 5-7am if you’re trying to catch one of the busy first wave flight departures, likewise if you’re arriving after 10pm you’ll be waiting 30minutes and will be scrambling for a seat on an overcrowded bus. My advice: call a cab on Glasgo Cars if you can afford the £21 cab fare instead of the £10.50 bus fare or else ride the 757 Paisley and change there. Or just fly from Prestwick or Edinburgh both have way better public transport connections
Gotzon — Google review
Probably been to Glasgow airport over 50 times. The transport to and from the airport is a joke. Either it’s one of the most expensive bus service or a complete lack of taxis. It’s embarrassing that Prestwick airport has better public transport than the main airport for the city. Staff at the airport are very friendly and accommodating
Mihir S — Google review
Good shopping and places to sit. Long walk to easyJet gates. New security suffering some challenges as most badges end up being inspected so you can be delayed badly waiting for a bag check. Shabby crowded waiting area at easyJet gates.
