Restaurant
Bar
Glencoe Gathering is a local Highland bistro and pub that offers seasonal Scottish dishes and a selection of whisky. Visitors on a road trip through the Scottish countryside found themselves pleasantly surprised by the delicious food, particularly enjoying the BBQ chicken pizza with pineapple, tomatoes, and red onion. The staff were described as warm and welcoming, with one manager going out of his way to accommodate a customer's dietary restrictions.
A bit on the pricey side, but overall a lovely experience. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the cozy, warm atmosphere made it a great spot to relax. Conveniently located close to the bus stop, which is a big plus!

NOT RECOMMENDED. Never had such a waste Fish & Chips from any where in Scotland. It used to be a good restaurant in the past, not any more. Look like the management had changed. They only have Fish & chips and pizzas now snd don't have much options that you seen online. Still if you serve what you have properly, wont curse the place
Blesson K — Google review
Not the best service. I didn't feel welcome. Food smelt good. And it was decent and fresh. Was told if you chips with your haddock it's a big portion. Naturally I asked if I could have a smaller portion was told we don't do smaller portions. If the staff improve to the level of the food it would have been a much nicer experience. Picture shows my leftover chips. Bonkers.
Ian H — Google review
Pros and cons Pros: ✅The food was really good, the chicken tasted really fresh ✅Large portion ✅ It was a nice day to eat outside with the views of the mountain Cons: ❎ While we entered the worker with the tie was serving someone else, he turned to us and shouted from the door "NO PIZZAS ONLY FISH AND CHIPS !" Turned his head and kept serving the other customers Which is not the right way to welcome clients especially since there were only 3 families in the whole restaurant When it was our turn we saw the menu with a lot of options, we asked if it was available and he said yes only pizzas we don't have! Which made no sense shouting only fish and chips we have Then we asked for a beer and he said no because there was no bartender and he said he was supposed to come at 1pm and it was 1:45pm If the staff had more manners it would be 5/5 restaurant as it would be perfect , as the food was really good and the location is superb

A Welcome Sign with Two Locked Doors .. A confusing layout with locked doors below a welcome sign didn't make for the best start. Upon finding the entrance (all the way round the back - there were no signs!) we were met with what can only be described as a surly greeting, not even a cursory 'Hello', instead we were told to find a table and come back up when we knew what we wanted. Not having any menus didn't help with the selection of food. Eventually we settled on 2 x portions of fish and chips, curry sauce and 2 soft drinks, this came to a total of £43.00 - which is excessive. Pros: - Both the fish and chips were fresh and well cooked. - Generous portion sizes. - The waiter serving the drinks (diet coke) from the downstairs bar was cheerful and pleasant. Cons: - The welcome from the staff was atrocious, the same staff member who couldn't be bothered with a hello also pulled a face when we asked for a receipt. - £43.00 for 2 portions of fish and chips with soft drinks is excessive. - Having paid so much for the food, there was no waiter table service and the food had to be collected from a bar service area by the customers once your table number had been called. Overall, the food is badly let down by the attitude of some of the staff and the price.
Gregory L — Google review
So on a recent visit to Glencoe we popped in here for some food. Fish supper was poor. The fish was a nice piece and was a decent size. The crunch on the batter was good the taste was good but here is where the dreadfullness took over and spoiled this... 1) the fish and chips looked nothing like the pics presented in a wee basket. 2) the oil needs cleaned and left lots of little black pieces of previous servings all over the fish as a result 3) the place genuinely wasn't that clean the tables all needed a good wipe down we were starving and needed fed and with little choice we had to eat 4) the worst bit -the chips weren't cut on the premises they were frozen chips. Maybe this all works on bus tours and visitors from abroad but was a total joke hence why most were left and only fish eaten!
I D — Google review
We stopped here while driving across Scotland. We waited about 45 minutes to an hour for our order of fish & chips, “chicken fillet” and a fried snickers. The fish & chips were great, but the chicken fillet was a bowl of about 25 chicken nuggets? Not sure why that’s advertised as a chicken fillet. At that point we were hungry enough to eat anything. The fried snickers was pretty sad, but we didn’t expect much at that point. The kitchen staff looked like they were very overwhelmed and understaffed, so I think they were just trying their best. Pictured is the fried snickers 😁
Sarah W — Google review
Fish and food overall came very hot to the table. Nearly 70 pounds for 4 people. However, the lady could have mentioned the chips were actually a huge portion, instead of offering it on each dish. We ended up with 3 big plates of chips, such a waste.

Coffee shop

Nestled in the heart of Glencoe, the Glencoe Cafe is a warm and inviting spot offering a variety of caffeinated drinks, breakfast options, light lunches, and freshly baked goods. With its cozy atmosphere and friendly staff, it's an ideal place to refuel while exploring the area. The cafe provides quick table service with good portion sizes and tasty offerings. Guests can also enjoy the charming addition of bird feeders attached to the windows for bird watching while dining.
As you arrive in Glencoe and want a nice meal because your’re hungry, this is the place to be. We found it thanks to Googlemaps (if you don’t know it yet, I’m a big fan of Google) and the promises were kept. Nothing too fancy, but a real nice fresh panini and a place to rest a bit. Then the coffee. Very important subject in my reviews. The coffee as excellent but a bit too cold! Something went wrong there, because it could have been excellent. As this was probably a mistake, still five stars. The lovely birds in the garden helped save my normally very critical review.
Bob P — Google review
Stopped in after climbing the Pap of Glencoe. The hot Soup and sandwiches were just what the doctor order after braving the cold. The food and service were excellent. As a bonus we sat by the window and were treated to a fantastic view of the garden birds enjoying their lunch at the feeders in the garden. Covid-19: they had all the relevant controls and distancing measures in place and we felt comfortable during our visit.
Alastair S — Google review
Fantastic addition to the village. Stopped off on two separate occasions for a bite to eat and a coffee. Great service. Toilet on site. A few outside tables if the Scottish weather permits. A point to charge your phone also. Would definitely recommend.
Nicole M — Google review
Cosy little cafe that offers fresh food. Visited here for breakfast during Easter. There are about 25 seats in the cafe and a couple of benches outside. Table Service was quick and the serving staff were good. All the items were of good portion size and tasted well. Highly recommended.
Ezhil S — Google review
Really lovely little cafe, very friendly helpful staff, food was delicious and coffee was great too. Recommend getting a seat by the window of you love little birds, the cafe even provides a little bird guide. They also have a great collection of gifts and books.
Devon B — Google review
The food is very tasty and there is bird feeders on the window so you can see different types of birds while you eat. There are lots of souvenirs to buy like postcards or cushions. The staff are also very friendly.
Thomas P — Google review
Such a lovely cafe, loved the different choices of tea, I had a Chinese tea that was good for your digestive system etc, there was also bird feeders attached to the windows so you could see birds whilst you eat, had a carrot and coriander soup it was fantastic
Emma J — Google review
Average. The guys had trouble working the microwave on the chicken Tikka potato. Maybe that's how Scottish people like their food but Aussies prefer it hot or at least warm. I give this place 3 stars though as the other places around this area wanted a full 80 seater tour bus before they would serve us. Interesting place Scotland, I can see food is not their strong point

Glencoe Lochan is a stunning and magical setting for an elopement ceremony, with its pine forest, mossy ground, and beautiful views of the loch and mountains. It's off the beaten path, making it easy to find a private spot away from other visitors. The area offers three accessible trails with wheelchair access and slightly steep paths into wooded areas. There are also seated viewpoints with breathtaking views of Loch Leven.
Well worth the very easy walk. Good views of the local mountains such as the Pap of Glencoe. Pretty lochans.
David P — Google review
Beautiful walk round the loch even on a dull day.. Within walking distance from Glencoe village but parking is free at the start of the trail. Went in the school holidays but it wasn't busy
Claire C — Google review
A pretty loch with a short circular walk around it. It is also quite acsessable, as the paths are wide and the Loch is quite close to the parking lot. However, while it is a nice place, I think there are much more beautiful places in Glencoe, especially around the three sisters and Glen Etiv.
Hadas S — Google review
A beautiful shelteredh lochan (small lake) - with an accessible wheelchair- and buggy- friendly path all the way round. Amazing views across the lochan and of the mountains and hills beyond. Good carparking, but payment via Ringo app required (can be paid a day or two later). Take some food for the friendly ducks. No toilets.
Peter S — Google review
Next to Glencoe village, a lovely place with a museum and a beautiful river stream. Easy walk from the village to the Glencoe Lochan. Took us about 10min easy stroll in the rain walking up to the Loch trail. Lots of photography opportunities along the way.
May L — Google review
Beautiful surroundings and views of the mountains on this accessible walk. Plenty of walking with wheelchair access as well as slightly steep paths up into the wooded areas. A seated viewpoint out to Loch Leven near the top of the hill path is worth the trip, for the views..
David B — Google review
Love this walk, beautiful. A walk for all the family, on the level. Some areas steep into the woods. But around the Loch is flat, benches and picnic benches.
Janet W — Google review
Lovely circular walk suitable for someone helping wheelchair users and seats along the way with spectacular view of the surrounding mountains of Glencoe . All my own photos.

Crafts & Things in Glencoe village is a charming spot to enjoy a cup of coffee and explore local artisan crafts. The cafe offers strong coffee and tasty homebaked treats, with clean facilities and covid-aware staff. Visitors can also savor a full breakfast while taking in scenic views of the loch from the terrace. The shop provides an array of lovely gifts as souvenirs from the stunning Scottish area.
Flat white: 8/10 Almond cake: 7,5/10 Vibes really great, we can find a very nice view of Higlands just 30 meters in front of the cafe.

A delightful little spot where you can eat like a king, shop like a tourist, and caffeinate like... well, someone who isn’t too picky about coffee. The food was genuinely fantastic—proper hearty fuel for Highland adventures—and the gift shop is a charming maze of things you didn’t know you needed. Knocked off one star because the coffee tasted like it lost the will to live halfway through the brew. Still, worth the stop for the vibes and the grub!

Walked here instead of cooking this morning. We each had the veggie breakfast, and added bacon (i know). Really delicious. Comes with toast and tea and was good value. Dog friendly which is very helpful for us. Keep up the good work folks. We'll be back.

Absolutely gorgeous little find, very good variety in the shop and the café inside the shop is lovely. Staff in both are lovely and helpful. Bonus to my trip.
Ann M — Google review
As a local tour guide sometimes it's incredibly difficult to find a good quality local cafe that provides authentic home made food. I had the privilege today while on tour to have a chat with the new owners of Crafts and Things, Debbie assured me that she has no plans to change the business model and everything will remain as the previous owners. A huge thank you to Debbie and her team for looking after my guests today. I should also add as well as excellent food they also offer a tremendous selection of gifts. Regards David Stanelydrive Tours.

Lovely stop on your travels for coffee and delicious food! We had the soup of the day and it was fantastic and the perfectly hit the spot on our rainy day. Tourist shop was great to peruse after our meal with lots of options to choose from. Highly recommend!

Friendly spot with good service! We arrived later in the day but were able to get some food still and enjoy the cafe. The gift shop is also nice to walk around and take a break from driving. The staff is very friendly and very welcoming!

Always good and always tasty. They had a power cut the day we went but staff were as accommodating as possible and still serving what they could. Not their fault but one thing which was stand out, they never closed and soup was lovely and filling. Well done

History Museums
Located in a small village, Glencoe Folk Museum is housed in a charming thatched building and offers an insightful collection. Open from May to October, visitors can explore various rooms showcasing Scottish history and traditions. While some exhibits may require maintenance, the friendly volunteers provide helpful insights into the area's heritage. The museum provides an opportunity to learn about the massacre of Glencoe and traditional Scottish practices such as kilt wrapping.
Compact and well put together museum complex highlighting the history of the area clans, insights into the feud between the MacDonalds and the Campbells who were allied wit the government, the all important slate industry and other important aspects of local life. Be sure to visit all three buildings, and watch the low doorways. It won’t take more than 30-40 minutes and is well worth the time.
Roman — Google review
Thatched cottages display Jacobite relics and a reconstructed blackhouse. The volunteer guides - many descendants of displaced crofters - bring exhibits alive with family stories. An interesting destination worth visiting if you're around.
Arman K — Google review
Absolutely loved my visit to the Glencoe museum. The museum is small, but has lots of interesting things and information relating to war time, local history and Clan MacDonald which I enjoyed reading about. The gentleman at the desk was very friendly and entry only cost £3 per person, which is well worth it.
Pamela M — Google review
At first glance this quaint thatched cottage in the middle of the village appears unassuming, but once you step over the threshold you can’t help but be swept into a fantastic little time capsule holding the beautiful and tragic history of generations of locals who have lived in this breathtakingly region! The guides are always so warm & welcoming, the collection is full of curiosities and historical life, and you instantly “get” why there is so much more to GlenCoe than just the gorgeous views. I have personally visited multiple times over the past 20 years and now professionally bring small tour groups by when we can, & recommend you do the same! (The pics don’t do it justice)

It's not just a folk museum, but a really colorful collection which presents Glencoe and its area from various different aspects.

Holiday park
Nestled along the picturesque north bank of a river, Invercoe Caravan & Motorhome Park is steeped in history, having once been part of the MacDonald villages during the infamous Glencoe Massacre in 1692. This charming campsite has captured the hearts of visitors for over a decade, with many returning year after year to soak in its breathtaking landscapes and serene atmosphere. Guests are greeted with warmth and hospitality upon arrival; staff even guide you to your pitch on bicycles!
Late for check in due to a huge delay in traffic at fort William, not an issue. Staff met us at gate and guided us to out pitch. Gave us all site info and was chatty and so helpful. The view is amazing and an idyllic location. Showers and toilet blocks are spotless and shower was lively and hot. Will definitely be using this site again.
Matt R — Google review
We didn't stay at the place, but were considering this site for a future booking next year. Whilst strolling through to have a better look, we were approached by a man in a vehicle, whom we guessed to be the owner. He asked if we were staying on the site, to which I replied no. He then told us to leave, as they don't allow people to walk through. Not liking his attitude, we simply left, deciding that we would not be handing him our money for a future trip. As an area that is hugely popular with walkers, a sign at the entrance would have been a good idea. Edit. Invercoe Highland Holidays, just opposite, has a private no-entry sign. Invercoe Caravan & Motorhome Park does not.
Google U — Google review
Great campsite, very friendly welcome and shown straight to our pitch. Brilliant views over the Loch. Washing up area / toilets / showers all modern and clean. Definitely recommend.
Mark M — Google review
Basically, everything is available. Unfortunately, the campsite is not good value for money. We stayed on a small pitch (2 adults, small camper) in the middle of the field for £35. The washing machine/dryer situation was particularly bad here too: after days of rain, we urgently needed to do some washing. The washing machine is incredibly expensive – £6 – and only runs for 30 minutes! You're not supposed to use washing powder: I can guess why, because with washing powder, you quickly notice if something hasn't been washed properly, as it leaves marks – but not with liquid detergent. Half of our laundry remained dirty, which was disastrous. The dryer is also very expensive, costing 50 pence for just 7 minutes. In addition, the laundry closes at 9:30 p.m., so you have to hurry. This is unnecessary, as it is located in a separate room and cannot disturb anyone. Hygiene in the shower block is so-so, the fittings and sinks are clean, but the walls and floor are dirty. The showers don't have a push button, but instead only produce a fine spray. I stood under it for more than 45 minutes to wash my hair, and the shampoo wasn't completely rinsed out afterwards. On top of that, they are completely unheated (great idea in mid-October), so that everything that isn't directly under the little water freezes. There is a sign at the reception desk that says, “Don't ask about disposal, the answer might offend you.” And that's absolutely correct: it is offensive. It's great when you realize that – but still don't change it. As overnight guests, we were of course able to dispose of our waste, but out of solidarity, we will definitely not be coming back. We don't have to support this kind of behavior.
Martin W — Google review
What a fabulous location! The gentleman that welcomed me on site and showed me to my pitch via his bicycle gave me such a warm welcome - thank you! Everything was great apart from the showers. The water dribbled out! I would definitely recommend this site to future campers.
Jessica C — Google review
Nice site, straight on the edge of the loch. Owner was really friendly and always had smile on his face. My pitch was straight onto the water which was really nice as it was a calm few days, fully serviced pitches aswell. Toilets and showers were all clean and plenty of bins around the site and then a recycling point next to the toilets. Plenty of places nearby to eat and a few shops just along the road for essentials.
Simon Y — Google review
Beautifully kept site with views to die for. Facilities clean and spacious and friendly staff. Had a lovely peaceful stay, thank you
Jo L — Google review
We've just got back from a 7 night stay here with our caravan. We received a friendly welcome on arrival, met by a man on his bike who knew our name and showed us a choice of 2 pitches. One up in the main area which is hard standing on a grass field, or a fully hard standing down by the loch side which we picked. Amazing views over the loch! If taking one of these pitches and putting an awning up, bring a good hammer/mallet and pegs as we had a few issues getting some in due to the rocky terrain, but our awning survived the windy weather. The facilities were good, large laundry room, dish washing room with 5 sinks and 1 shower block all by reception. 4 x showers, 4 X toilets and 2 X toilets with sink and baby change inside. Mostly clean, the showers a bit dirty at times, but super warm! Also liked the added touch of having a few period products in each toilet cubicle as a 'just in case'. Hair dryer provided too. Our pitch was the furthest away from the toilet block, took about 4 minutes to walk there so take into consideration when picking a pitch if you need to be close. No shop onsite, but only a 5/10 minute walk into Glencoe where there is a fuel station with shop, pub, cafe and craft/gift shop. Also a coop, patisserie, fish & chips shop etc in Ballachulish (5 minute drive if that). Finally, so much wildlife and gorgeous walks! Look out for seals on the loch as well as various sea birds and sea eagles. Also deer grazing on the river banks on an evening. Highly recommend the quarry walk at Ballachulish and the Glencoe Lochan walk which can be started from the site. Also access to the loch to paddle, swim or put a kayak/canoe out. Already planning our next trip back!

Bed & breakfast
Beechwood Cottage B&B is a small, family-run establishment located in the heart of Glencoe Village. With only three rooms, this informal B&B offers a personal touch and attentive hosts. Guests can enjoy mountain views, comfortable and impeccably clean rooms, and a full Scottish breakfast. The hosts, Jackie and Iain, are known for their warm hospitality and willingness to provide advice on hiking trails in the area.
I cannot recommend this gorgeous bed and breakfast highly enough. Jackie and Iain are a delightful couple and outstanding hosts, they have truly thought of everything and it is evident that they love (and are very good at!) what they do. I am a young solo female traveller, first time in the highlands and they made me feel very at home and looked after me incredibly well with making sure I knew how to get to nearby landmarks and provided good suggestions for local dining etc. The house itself is very clean, comfortable and the rooms are lovely and spacious and decorated tastefully. The cooked breakfasts were truly something special, I will miss Jackie’s cooking! Overall it was an immensely enjoyable stay and I would absolutely recommend it. Thank you Jackie and Iain for such a memorable and enjoyable visit!

This was such a cute place and we had a great stay! The owners were so helpful and friendly, they could not have been nicer! We were initially a little taken aback by some of the spooky decorations outside but realized they are just cute and unique flairs to your stay! Our room was spotless and had an amazing view, and we had a great breakfast in the morning. They have two cats who are very friendly and sweet that we loved as well. Overall really nice stay!

We had an amazing stay at Beechwood B&B. Both Jackie and Ian were wonderful hosts—they gave us very helpful guidance as we explored the beautiful area. We enjoyed our room and the scenery was stunning. Breakfast was delicious and very filling to start your day of adventures. A big plus were their adorable and friendly cats! We hope to be back again for a visit.

Our hosts Jackie and Iain were absolutely incredible. They are a lovely couple who truly cared about our experience. They serve a full hot breakfast (we are vegan and they were easily able to accommodate) and cold buffet, have great wifi, excellent large yet cozy rooms with spacious bathrooms, and two cute kitties who love coming to say hello. While we were there there was a terrible storm and complete power outage and loss of cell service. Jackie and Iain made the best of the situation and kept up informed. Iain lent my husband waterproof pullover pants for our short hike, as well as a large golf umbrella. They are caring and friendly and you can tell they take pride in their space, their property, and the experience they provide to guests. I highly recommend staying here if you’re in the Glencoe area.
Tania N — Google review
What a wonderful experience at Jackie and Iain's BB! The location is amazing, right in the middle of the lovely Glencoe Village and not far from the trail to the Pap of Glencoe — of which you get a beautiful view right from your bedroom window. The place is cozy, beautifully decorated, with a quiet and restful atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. The breakfast is amazing, and the hosts are ever so gracious and helpful with everything. From restaurant and trail recommendations, we got everything we could have wished for, plus the pleasure of an interaction with very warm and kind people. And of course, a highlight of the stay were the lovely cats, Smoky and Tinky! Smoky alone is reason to make you want to go back. Thank you, Jackie and Iain! Couldn't have wished for a better place to stay in Glencoe.

My husband and I sent a 2 day break at Beechwood Cottages. Iain and Jackie where fabulous hosts. Our room was spotless and our en suite was spotless too. The bed was very comfortable and we slept very well, so peaceful and quiet. Perfect bed for us. 2 cats were well behaved and very sociable around people. And like butter! But you have to hold the paper! Little love! Iain was very knowledgeable about the area and where to book for dinner. The fish chippy was gorgeous and has a restaurant aswell, which is new and the food is brilliant. We had a fabulous stay and felt very welcome and safe. Thank you Iain and Jackie for our stay and made to feel welcome. Our breakfast was so good! Highly recommend 5 star.

Jackie and Iain are both so welcoming and friendly, giving very helpful advice on things to see and do in the Glencoe area. The b&b is immaculate with everything you could ask for. Breakfast is delicious and they are very happy to accommodate all dietary requirements. Would highly recommend a stay at Beechwood as it is a great central location for the Glencoe area. The best part of the stay - the gorgeous resident cats Smokey and Tinky who will be waiting for cuddles at breakfast. A heartfelt thank you to Jackie and Iain for their hospitality and to Smokey and Tinky for helping us when we were missing our own furry kids back home.

I came back for another stay and brought my husband. I must say that this is a great location for exploring the area. We did some walking along the Glencoe Pap Trail, and checked out the Ballachulish Slate Quarry (now a walking trail with informational placards) from this, our home for a few days. Jackie and Iain were as helpful as ever, with a parking spot next to the house, carrying our luggage to our room ("You are on vacation," said Iain, "so let me do the work."), and offering ideas for meals and places to see (the quarry was Jackie's idea after we began asking her about the slate decorations in their yard). We were greeted by their two cats (curious, but not overly clingy), who made appearances whenever we entered the house, or had breakfast. Speaking of breakfast, Jackie will ensure you do not leave hungry. With a full range of hot and cold offerings which you can choose from the night before, she will ensure you get exactly what you need to power through your explorations each day. The bathroom was large, with great water pressure and an ample supply of hot water. And the Beech room (we were upgraded from Rowan because they were doing some preventive work on the floor there) was comfy and the bed gave us wonderful nights' sleep. The Chaotic Scot recommended this place to us 3 years ago, and the level of hospitality has not diminished one bit. Jackie and. Iain are wonderful hosts and we highly recommend this B&B.

The Glencoe Orbital Walk offers spectacular views of the majestic Glencoe Mountains, creating a dramatic landscape with breathtaking panoramas from lookout points. It's a real immersion in wild nature, with paths that are easy to follow through lush green forests. The walk does not complete a full circle back to Glencoe and finishes around the Red Squirrel campsite, while another part leads to the new visitor center. It's important not to attempt walking on the A82.
Beautiful walk through a lush green forest. Path is easy to follow. I walked to Clachaig Inn and back as I heard that not all sections of the Orbital Walk are completed.

Don’t walk this expecting it to go round and back to glencoe. The only orbit it does is of the moon The paths incomplete and finishes around the Red Squirrel campsite The other part is from glencoe to the new visitor centre. Do not try and walk the A82! Saying that. The path was clear. We walked 4.5 miles up and back.

(Translated by Google) The owners are very friendly and helpful. The room is excellent for the low price of £64 for a double room. It's clean and tidy. The location is breathtakingly beautiful; behind the hostel runs the river, where I could take a cold bath with a fantastic view. In the evening, we could make marshmallows in the fire, which also led to pleasant conversations with other guests who shared our marshmallow meal. Also, try the porridge with fruit for breakfast; it's delicious and healthy. This hostel is highly recommended! (Original) Hele vriendelijke eigenaren, zeer behulpzaam.

Glencoe Mountain Resort is a highland resort that offers snow sports, walking and biking trails, and archery. It provides an all-season experience with outstanding customer service from the car park attendants to the guys on the tows. The staff's enthusiasm and smiles create a fantastic atmosphere for visitors of all ages to enjoy their hobbies while creating wonderful memories with family and friends. The ski lessons provided by Rob are fabulous, while the views speak for themselves really.
I visited Glencoe Mountain Resort yesterday and had a really enjoyable experience. We took the chairlift up to the top of the hill, took some photos, and soaked in the incredible views before heading back down. The scenery was stunning and well worth the visit. The chairlift was smooth and comfortable. While there’s no harness or buckle system, there is a safety bar that comes down in front of you. For adults and older children, it feels secure as long as you’re seated properly and using common sense. I wouldn’t recommend it for very young children without extra care, but for most people, it’s perfectly safe — just sit back and enjoy the ride. The staff were friendly, helpful, and welcoming, which added to the positive experience. If you’re thinking about visiting, I’d definitely recommend it for the views and atmosphere. Just make sure everyone stays seated properly and uses a bit of awareness — if you’re being sensible, you’ll have no issues at all. Overall, a great stop with breathtaking views and lovely staff.

We camped here for one night when waking the West Highland Way. Small area for tents was nice, breezy enough to be relatively midge-free, and had its own toilet and shower block which were not the cleanest but functional. The ground was quite hard, but had no problem securing the tent enough for one night. Views were phenomenal! Nice to have the cafe to use for charging phones and a hot meal too.

I want to commend the staff at Glencoe Mountain Chairlift for their patience and kindness. They were very attentive and tried their best to help my child get on the chairlift. Staff are absolutely amazing, so kind and couldn't have been more helpful. We stayed during storm Amy and were so happy to have been staying there at the time. We felt safe and looked after. - Drying room wasn't working and they sorted it straight away. - The power went off but they had a generator. - There was a small landslide which they barricaded. - You can hire sleeping bags. Biggest thing they need though are HOOKS!!!! Not a hook in sight in the rooms or dining roo. to hang anything! Mattresses were not super comfy, some chairs and a wee table and bedside light would go a long way too! Special shout out to staff in the canteen who were super helpful and fun too!

We visited the Glencoe Mountain Centre for a bite to eat and a coffee as it's right by the Three Sisters and surrounding mountain ranges. It's absolutely stunning. Now many go looking for clear blue skies but let me tell you, the drama that came with the rapidly changing weather was just unbelievable! I managed to grab these shots in between the rain showers where little very brief windows of great light popped up so I'd jump out of the car and run a little into the scene and started shooting before the window of opportunity passed. I mean, you might guess that photography is my thing, so I used a pro grade full frame camera and very nice lens for these images but even with my mobile phone I couldn't fail to get some great shots. It's just so unbelievably dramatic, mysterious and immersive a place to shoot. Don't be put off by a few showers here and there. Only avoid if it says foggy conditions as you won't see anything. But any other time it's fair game up there. I'm planning to go back on my own and sleep in the car so I can be up at dawn and get an hour or so shooting in at Sunrise and golden hour. Then I'll head home by 8-9am for the long 8-9 hour drive home. But honestly...it will be worth it. Just do it! 😁👍 Coffee and cake was good at the Glencoe Mountain resort. Very alpine feeling and the staff were great. Very friendly.

Great location right along the west highland way. We stayed in one of the small hobbit huts. It was a much more economical choice in comparison to the other option at this part of the trail. The cafe was cute and had a good selection of both food and drinks. Was able to get tickets to ride the chairlift which offered incredible views. There is also another hike that takes about 45 minutes total that offers great views. Really the only negative is the way the huts are outfitted. I am still giving 5 stars because they were just as listed and it was exactly what I was expecting, but they are bare bones. You can rent sleeping bags, but not pillows or anything else. This night was the worst sleep i got my entire trip. I dont think it would be that hard to have the huts outfitted with some basic bedding and would go a long way in overall comfort level provided. I know alot of their business comes from true skiers, but then even they wouldn't need to plan to being their own bedding and such. Overall still worth it and very pleased with the other services offered.

From our first impressions arriving in the beautiful surrounds of The Rugged Coast We were met by smiles before we were even in the door that put our slightly apprehensive minds at ease! We were able to walk in but there is also the option. To book ahead online in advance. The lovely member of staff was professional, knowledgeable and so comforting (which helps alot as I do have anxiety). Safety briefs and we filled in the paperwork (on our own phones but they do have a tablet to use if you don't have your own device) Our guide already had the best idea of sizes for our wetsuits and shoes based on her experience. As someone who was almost 8 stone heavier last year (and not fit enough to try kayaking again at that point) there was no awkward discussion about sizes. Instead of how warm we would like to be using a winter style suit or summer style. It was a beautiful warm day in glencoe that day with a lovely breeze which picked up and dropped once we were on the water. We chose to kayak but there are a number of services offered here such as paddleboarding, kayaking and tandem kayaks and bikes to hire. Self guided or guided tours also avaliable. A gentle slope down to the water where you can launch from we were soon on the water. The kayaks were very sturdy and clean. We were given advice on how to see the islands and the history of the area which is really impressive including hosting a very old grave yard you can dock up and explore. We spent 2 glorious hours on the water facing differing water and wind conditions but all of which were fun and exhilarating. This has been my favourite day out in years and although I hadn't kayaked in a very long time I took to it like a duck to water again and this has truely enriched my sense of self, confidence and abilities on the water. Thank you so much Rugged Coast Glencoe. 5 STARS Highly recommend and cannot wait to visit again soon! Thanks so much for making my 35th birthday a magnificent day for myself and my husband x

Had such an excellent experience with Rugged Coast Glencoe! We had reservations for 1:00pm but ended up arriving much earlier. They were able to get us on the water immediately. The staff member assisting us was very friendly and informative. Kayaking to the islands was so much fun, and we got to see lots of wildlife. An unforgettable experience!

We had an absolutely amazing experience renting two kayaks and a paddleboard. We had so much fun exploring and were even able to paddle out to the nearby islands, which made the day unforgettable. The rental service was exceptional — the lady was incredibly kind, allowing us to keep the equipment a little longer by staying open later, and she even helped us bring the kayaks back into the store. Her friendliness and helpfulness made the whole experience even better. Truly a 5 out of 5 experience, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great day on the water.

Absolutely flipping fantastic! Firstly the female member of staff (apologies for not catching her name!) was an absolute asset to Rugged Coast. She was super friendly, knowledgeable and her welcome was just fantastic. We rented two single person kayaks for 2 hours. The equipment was top notch and in great condition. There were seals and herons in the area which added to the fantastic location on the loch that the company is based on. Prices are really reasonable for what you experience! I would 100% recommend to anyone and wouldn’t hesitate to return again to them!

Buachaille Etive Mòr, also known as the Herdsman of Etive, is a popular mountain in Scotland that attracts hikers and climbers. It is one of the most photographed mountains in Scotland and is located near Buachaille Etive Beag at the beginning of a road.

It’s so beautiful. We went during the summers but it was drizzling. Between the mountains and the rains and the sun peaking in between- it made the drive absolutely worth. The beauty is really mesmerising. There is a parking problem. However, but if you were at the right time, you may find some place to park your car.. a definite visit if you are in Scotland

Glencoe and Ballachulish are simply breathtaking. The scenery changes with every turn — towering mountains, peaceful lochs, and little cottages tucked beneath the hills. It’s one of those places that makes you slow down and just take it all in. The air feels crisp, the light shifts beautifully through the glen, and even on a misty day it’s full of atmosphere. There are lovely walking trails, friendly locals, and great spots for food nearby. A true Highlands treasure that stays with you long after you leave.

Ballachulish is a picturesque village nestled at the foot of the Scottish Highlands, offering a tranquil base for exploring the dramatic landscapes of Glencoe and Loch Leven. The village is split into North and South Ballachulish, connected by a bridge over the loch's narrows. The area is steeped in history, notably the Appin Murder of 1752, with a memorial to James Stewart located in South Ballachulish. Outdoor enthusiasts will find ample opportunities for adventure, including hiking the Devil’s Staircase, exploring Glen Etive, or skiing at Glencoe Mountain Resort. The Ballachulish Peninsula offers scenic walks with views of Eilean Munde, a burial island with an old clan graveyard . For a taste of local art, the Ballachulish Gallery showcases works by talented artists, including glass sculptures and paintings of the local area . Accommodations like the Loch Leven Hotel and Ballachulish Hotel provide comfortable stays with stunning views . Whether you're seeking outdoor adventure or a peaceful retreat, Ballachulish offers a perfect blend of natural beauty and Highland charm.

Lovely little circular walk going up the side of the quarry and then through the woods back down to the town. Good views out over the Loch at the start. You can park beside the tourist centre and the co-op.

Pleasant little trail that offers good payoff for how short it is. Not too far from the head of the trail, you'll find pretty, sweeping views of the mountains and water. There is a nice grassy field here that would serve as a lovely spot for a picnic. If you go further on the trail, you'll discover interesting ruins of a stone fence and two homes. I wish there was an information plaque posted there for the public, but the ruins really do provide visual interest with the forest overtaking them. There are tiny ferns and young trees taking hold in the stone crevices. The lush forest is quite pretty as well and reminds me of the Pacific Northwest in the U.S. There is some incline on the trail, but anyone in decent shape should be able to handle it. Highly recommend this trail if you want respite from the more popular trails in the area. If you do decide to have a picnic here, please do remember to pack up all trash before leaving, as I did unfortunately see a few pieces of trash there.

A beautiful walk. If you take it slow and steady its a good walk uphill and then downhill. Lovely views and not too long. Thoroughly recommend cakes from 'stiff peaks' on the way back if open. EDIT - Our dog caught 3 ticks on this walk. So heed the warnings about ticks!! We didn't get any thankfully.

Really beautiful walk that doesn’t take too long for the Family. We started at the Quarry entrance and followed the trail upwards into the woods, the first section is steep and our 2 year old required a seat on Daddy’s shoulders but once into the Woods the route is walkable for young to old and very pretty.
John F — Google review
I found this trail by accident, but it's so beautiful and serene that I want to share it. You can park close to it and start your trail from the Ballachulish Quarry entrance and follow a path to the right up the hill. From there you'll reach a point with a beautiful view and the option to go deeper into a forest. The trail's path is sometimes steep, but easy to follow and 100% worth it. It takes you through an abandoned settlement all the way down to a creek - this takes around an hour of walking. Then you can walk up the river for a while to find a small waterfall, on the way back you can see a pet cemetery and you'll leave the area through a gate. From there you can walk through the village back to the parking stop in front of the Quarry.
Laís T — Google review
To get to the Brecklet trail, follow the path from the St Mun's church (the river on your right) until a metallic portal. Cross the portal and you'll find the beginning of the trail. 1h walk to the quarry. It's a peaceful and easy walk which can be done with children even if it goes up and down and can be a bit slippery.

Completed in 1975, this elegant concrete structure is more than just a vital link between North and South Ballachulish, it’s a scenic landmark in its own right. On calm, misty mornings, the bridge offers stunning mirror-like reflections of the dramatic Pap of Glencoe peaks rising in the background, creating a breathtaking scene beloved by photographers and painters alike. At high tide, you’ll often see local fishermen lining the railings, casting their lines in hope of hooking a sea trout or two from the tidal waters below.

Very scenic. A hiker's and photographer's Paradise. As there was no road to the head of Loch Leven until 1927, the Ballachulish Ferry, established in 1733, and those at Invercoe/Callert and Caolas na Con were essential. The Ballachulish ferry closed in December 1975 when the Ballachulish Bridge finally opened. The principal industry is now tourism. The Ballachulish Hotel and Ballachulish House (until recently [2010] a country house hotel) are located near the narrows at (south) Ballachulish Ferry rather than in the "modern" village some 3 miles (5 km) to the east. Ballachulish House was reputed to be haunted, and the drive leading to it was ridden by a headless horseman. Ballachulish Peninsula extends into the loch.

Good historical information, plenty of parking space, also great gift shop and visitor center if you need the bathroom. Attraction works based on donations not ticketing.

The Turf House in Glencoe is definitely worth a stop if you’re in the area. It’s interesting on its own, but taking the tour really brings it to life and gives you a much better understanding of the history. Would recommend going with a guide if you can!

Excellent reconstruction of a traditional "black house" ot taigh dubh. You can go inside to see how the building was arranged . The setting is spectacular within the Glencoe Visitors Centre

Structure and site were lovingly presented by a knowledgeable, insightful guide. The proud heritage and resilience of the Scots is clearly exhibited.

A short stroll from the Glencoe visitor center, they built this traditional turf hut in 2020 and use it for educational experiences. You can wonder inside but there's not a lot to see.

Lovely place to see history and enjoy coffee with cake, while watching birds. Amazing place for kids especially.
Jay K — Google review
Very nice and interesting house. You can enter inside but there’s not much to see. Wish there was more furniture inside or display. The surrounding is also beautiful with Highland Cows and mountains.

You can come here and have breakfast or lunch with a fascinating view. There are tables and you can bring food with you, but there is also a nice cafe which offers delicious scones! Entrance is free of charge, parking is 4 pounds entire day. There is also nice exhibition and a store where you can buy different goods produced by local entrepreneurs. Highly recommend to visit this place!
