Restaurant
Modern Nomads is a well-known restaurant chain in Ulaanbaatar, offering authentic Mongolian cuisine such as horse steaks and goat sausages alongside vegetarian options. The first restaurant opened in 2003 and has since expanded to become the Nomads Chain of Restaurants under Nomads Hospitality LLC. Known for its use of modern food technology and traditional Mongolian dishes like khuushuur, buuz, and horhog, it has captured the hearts of locals and foreigners alike.
I had an ambiguous experience with this place. On the first day, there was a family commemoration event during lunch without any notice on special service. This was not the neighbourhood I would like to have for my lunch, and so I went away. For my second trial everything was perfect. The service was fast and friendly, the local dishes were delicious. Cards are accepted. There might be some difficulties with an English-speaking staff, but the menu is available in English as well. I can recommend this restaurant to get a touch of local but refined cuisine.

It was a great pleasure—not just for the eyes, but for my taste buds too! I absolutely love Modern Nomads. I waited 3 years to try their new menu, and it was totally worth it. While we were dining, there was a live performance of Mongolian folk dance and music—such a beautiful atmosphere! I truly love this place and feel so proud of our brothers and sisters who created something so special. It’s the kind of place that leaves you with the most precious memories. ❤️🇲🇳

Nomads was recommended by a local for authentic Mongolian food. The decor in the restaurant was stunning. The horse meet appetizer was delicious. I also tried the lamb dumplings, which were also amazing.

The restaurant ambience is perfect! You can feel the vibes of mongolia. Food was okay. Service was excellent. Staffs were accomodating, even though we can't understand each other, we managed to communicate smoothly 😂. Their noodle "Japanese tourist" was delicious. The noodle was so good and the meat was so fresh. The serving was big, normally for 1 person but it can be shared by two😂. Could have been tried all their other dishes but maybe next time. The noodle paired with mongolian tea was a good idea😂. That was my first time. Perfection combination 👌. Their cappuccino was good too!☕☕

Visited this restaurant for lunch during my recent trip to Mongolia. The restaurant is nicely decorated. It is a restaurant cum pub/bar/karaoke (night time) and a stage for musical performance but I believe the band plays Mongolian music. So do not expect Bon Jovi or Maroon 5 songs. They serve Mongolian food as well as Mongolian milk tea, which is essentially cow’s milk mixed with water and salt. A very unique taste. But I love the Mongolian soup. I ordered the beef soup that comes with a piece of the bone marrow and dumplings with beef and of course, big chunks of tender beef. It is filling to a hungry stomach! Some of their staffs can speak English. And they do have menu in English. Check out my YouTube channel @justbenlife3825 for more travel videos!

Excellent. Met my old Mongolian friend and his family here for a nice big dinner. We ordered a good few dishes.....the lambs head dish, some beef, some stir fries, some chicken dishes, some beef tongue...... all great, all delicious, all fabulous. The beef was my favourite, the sauce it was covered in was so good! Over some beer, and good food, and the kids also got some ice cream, we all had a great time. Lovely decor and good friendly and efficient service. This visit to experience some traditional Mongolian food and with my friend and his oh so cute family, was definitely a highlight of my trip to UB. Strongly recommended ,

Disappointed Despite Great Atmosphere The service girl kindly recommended this dish, and I was excited to try it. The atmosphere of the place was nice – traditional nomadic live music and long songs created beautiful atmosphere. However, the food was a big letdown. The meat tasted old, and there was an added flavoring that was unpleasant and overpowering. I expected much better from a place with such a great setup. Sadly, the food completely ruined the experience for me. won’t go to nomads chain again … until I hear they make it better ! I wouldn’t recommend this place. If you’re looking for good Mongolian food, you’d be better off visiting a smaller local canteen. They often serve more authentic and better-quality dishes. I paid 42,000 MNT (about 12 USD) for just one dish and a glass of water – not worth it at all.
Zoloo B — Google review
So disappointed! We ordered Khuushuur and Bituu soup, and the meal took over 50 minutes to arrive. The food was such a letdown, especially considering it wasn’t cheap. The meat tasted old and of poor quality. After eating, I felt nauseous and my stomach was upset — even though I’m Mongolian. Such a sad experience. Don’t go there if you don’t want to upset your stomach!

Just moved to UB and this is definitely going to be a regular place to eat. A mix of healthy and comfort food ranging from western to traditional Mongolian, and all vegan. This is a rare luxury in UB and very glad to have come here.

Great Mongolian classics in vegan form. The dumpling soup was a highlight of clean subtle soup with creamy mashed peanut dumplings was superb. The Mongolian plate for main was decent, but not mind blowing. Better than loving hut but vegans should check out bosque verde, which edges it for mine.

Amazing service, delicious smoothies, and great main dishes. Large portions. We got the power lunch, Sichuan tofu, and kimchi stew, as well as a couple of smoothies and can definitely recommend all of it.

Great Taste and nice service..!! I could be a vegan if i could have that kind of fantastic and tasty foods. We ordered dumpling and salad.. both have such a great taste... Love this place.. ❤️

A vegetable oasis in a meat-oriented country. I enjoyed the presentation, taste and fair price of this place. Recommended to have a rest from usual taste (in particular after a 23days tour as mine) :)

I’ve had spinach mushroom pasta and special salad, which was beetroot spinach orange and some nuts with sauce. It was very delicious and fresh! I could only complain about the size.. too much. Don’t want to see anything thrown away so I just ate it all. Very modern place with young friendly stuff. English menue

Restaurant
The Green Zone is a popular spot in Ulaanbaatar, offering fresh French bakery-style treats and Mediterranean staples. The bright and airy space features high ceilings and hanging gardens of plants and flowers. It's a favorite among young tourists and expats for its relaxed atmosphere, jazz music, good coffee, and affordable eats. Owned by French chef Jessie, the restaurant serves up dishes like hummus, falafel, gazpacho, pastas, pizzas, sandwiches, and Greek salad.
Stopped in after touring the Chinggis Khan museum (7 min walk)… it’s just a funky, hole in the wall vibe, with eclectic decor, music and tons of plants… cool patio too. Had the chicken pizza and a couple glasses of Chardonnay while waiting out a rain storm…. Pizza and wine both very good. Great service. Highly recommend.
Texang73 — Google review
I recently tried the Carbonara. While the sauce had a nice, rich flavor that I really enjoyed, the spaghetti itself felt a bit firm. It could have been cooked to a slightly softer texture to balance better with the creamy sauce. Additionally, the bread served alongside felt unnecessary, especially since the Carbonara itself was already quite firm. While the flavor of the sauce stood out, the overall dish could use some improvement in texture.
Chanar B — Google review
Went around 3:30~pm for a late lunch and had to wait around 40 minutes for the order. Food was good, albeit the lettuce they used with the falafel should have been tossed out a few days ago, but no big deal. Service was quick and pleasant. Atmosphere was ok, but some people day drinking heavily nearby were a bit loud.
Jordan S — Google review
From their menu /which was written detailed information about ingredients/, ordered Mexican salad to takeaway. But when I got the salad, only half of the ingredients were in the box. If there’s shortage of veggies, you don’t need to receive the order!! 0 value of money.

Really cool place. Staff can speak English very well. Food are tasty. The mood is so unique and free. But plz get here with your friend if you wanna try pizza and beer.
EZ ( — Google review
Nice little place. Was hungry so wanted my breakfast and something filling so went for an old reliable, an English breakfast with a pot of tea. Service was fine, and the food came quick enough. The English breakfast was pretty damn good, albeit the sausages were more Germanic than normal, but as we are far away from old Blighty I wont be complaining too much. It was pretty good fare, and filled me up. Well presented too. It took a while for the milk to come with the English breakfast tea, but it did come eventually! I don't think they got the memo that you need to drink milk with breakfast tea! Ordered a local draft beer, and man it was good, very cool, and lovely and refreshing after my breakfast. I really liked the decor in the place, and they also had a lot of greenery, especially hanging from the ceilings and from above, interesting. Even though it was early the place already had a good vibe and its a chilled out place, without being pretentious. I liked it here and strongly recommend this as a place to take it easy and relax as the day goes by. Bill came to just under 9 Euros, which wasnt too bad at all, me thinks.

Cosiest bar we found in Ulaanbatar so far! The terrace is lovely. Food was ok, lots of drinks on the menu not available, but cold draft beer 🍻

Indian restaurant
Hazara Indian Restaurant, established in 1997, is a hidden gem located behind Ulaanbaatar's Wrestling Palace off the bustling Peace Avenue. It offers an inviting interior with simple decor and ample dining space on the ground floor and mezzanine level. The restaurant specializes in authentic North Indian cuisine, perfect for those seeking a fiery and exotic dining experience. Signature dishes like chicken murgh malai and raan e hazara showcase succulent meats marinated in traditional spices.
Outstanding food. We came as a party of 6 and ordered 3 mains, 1 rice, and a naan basket. And all left extremely satisfied. Ha area has been open for 27 years and I can understand why! I highly recommend it.
Emily P — Google review
Lately I had a chance to check this place out. Hazard is listed first in the list of the best restaurants in Ulaanbaataar, and I will try to debunk this false statement. Let me start with the overall setting and mood of the place. Safety first. Not enough light in the middle area where there is a staircase to the second floor. I almost tripped and fell because I didn't see where the steps were. I mean, my eyesight is good, I don't wear eyeglasses. The second issue with safety is tables. They wobble a lot, and you can spill your hot drink. Also, these tables have done kind of studs poking out, making the surface of the table really uneven, adding to the risk of spilling hot drinks. I'm gonna provide videos of the table, so you can check them out on your own. These tables are uncomfortable to sit at as well you have to spread your legs really wide as if you are giving a birth to a child. Next up is noisy setting. Of course, popular places get Noisy all the time, but if the restaurant says they have partitions, they gotta be good partitions made of some kinda solid material, not these thin curtains with cut windows and u can see people sitting in the next partitions. Photo is provided. As for waitresses or servants, they are really nice. Doing their job really good. But I feel bad for them, because they need to walk up and down this staircases thousand times percday. They might have developed really strong legs. As for the food, 8 out of ten. But naan was cold. Who serves cold naans in an Indian restaurant?lentil was good. One big minus is that they don't have proper teas in teapots. They should consider adding some good tea to their menu, in addition to massala tea. That's it.

Veranda, located in Ulaanbaatar, is a renowned Mediterranean and Italian restaurant that has been serving high-quality dishes since 2006. The cozy atmosphere and excellent service make it a popular choice for locals and visitors alike. The menu features delectable options such as the 30 Days Dry Aged T-Bone Steak, Moroccan soup, steak salad, salmon soup, and ravioli with beef and mushrooms.
Having a Wonderful late Lunch at Veranda (Mediterranean Restaurant) Today, I had the pleasure of enjoying a delightful meal at Veranda, a cozy and charming spot that offers exceptional service standards and a warm atmosphere. Let me share a few highly recommended dishes from my experience: 🍽️ Mushroom Truffle Risotto – A creamy, rich delight with the perfect aroma of truffles. A must-try for truffle lovers! 🍵 Turmeric Tea – A unique, slightly sour blend that complements the meal beautifully. 🥗 Healthy Bowl (Salad) – Fresh, vibrant, and full of goodness. 🍗 Moroccan Chicken Tagine (Slow-cooked) – Aromatic, tender, and full of flavor—an absolute highlight. 🍰 Piccolo Dolci (Dessert) – Paired with an espresso, it was the perfect sweet ending to the meal. A big thank you to the kitchen team for the delicious food and to the service staff for their warm and attentive hospitality. Veranda truly made my day special! Malaysia ❤️

nice terrace and good decor . the good is tasty and portions are ok. we tried different plates all tasty . steak was OK. didn't try the home made pasta . but I liked the flavors of each plate , really a place to stay well. reasonable list of wines .
Davide S — Google review
A popular wine and dine spot and our usual go-to for dinner dates. The atmosphere has a nice Mediterranean vibe with vintage touches. Lately, though, the service has been slipping (likely due to new staff?). Last night there were just three servers for a full house, and they seemed overwhelmed. The restaurant was uncomfortably cold inside, which shouldn’t be blamed on the outside weather alone. I usually go for the pizza, which is still one of the best in the city. Their hummus, steaks and steak salad are excellent too. This time I tried the lamb souvlaki, but it was disappointing. Overseasoned, salty, and the side dishes were all sharp—sauerkraut, balsamic greens, raw onions. The whole plate felt overly sour and intense. Still, it’s a trusted place for group dinners in a city with limited options. But at this price point, they really need to maintain their once-great service and food quality.
Egshiglen B — Google review
Every member of our dining party enjoyed their food, and this was the highlight. The lighting and decor makes this restaurant a really delight to experience. Although service was somewhat slow, it’s well worth a visit for great food and good ambience.

Restaurant
Nestled in Ulaanbaatar, the Grand Khaan Irish Pub offers a laid-back and friendly atmosphere for diners to savor classic pub fare and drinks. Established in 2005, this cozy spot features traditional Irish dishes like lamb shanks and stew alongside a variety of sandwiches, soups, and pizzas. For those feeling adventurous, Asian-inspired options such as tagturitan soup and crispy pork belly are also available.
I really liked this pub, and for a relaxing drink or meal it’s a great choice, whether you’re out with friends in a group or even alone. The place is huge, with seating at the bar, numerous sized tables as well as a semi-outdoor area, which is heated and covered. The service was friendly as well as being super fast with the drinks. Everyone could speak adequate English and there were no issues getting the attention of anyone for additional orders - there was never a need to use the ‘call bell’ on the table! There’s a huge food menu available and since I was only looking for a small snack I ordered from the ‘small bites’ section. However, the plate of chicken bites which turned up was large enough to feed a family! Great value for money as a result and, for what it was, it was tasty. It doesn’t really have any Mongolian culture, other than the beers offered, but despite this I’d return next time I’m in the city and it’s a friendly welcoming place.
Steve B — Google review
It’s a 100% famous turistic place, called “Irish” but with almost ANY kind of Irish food or drink (at least the beer , but nope). The waiters are very kind, but service is extremely long, especially for grill: I’ve been told a waiting time of 40 minute and it was 1h30’… and the meat arrived cold… ultimate comment: the grill was producing an incredible quantity of smoke, obliging several customers to move the table meters away from their position… ASVISABLE IF: you want a different place to eat instead of the Mongolian traditional restaurants. NOT ADVISABLE IF: you hope to find an Irish pub and an Irish beer… for my experience not a good place in a city offering so many variety of restaurant.
Matteo B — Google review
Grandkhaan Irish Pub, commonly known among Mongolians simply as “Irish Pub,” has been around for 20 years. In addition to offering a wide variety of beers, the food here is truly outstanding. Not only Mongolians but also many foreign travelers praise this place. With both indoor and outdoor terrace options, it provides plenty of seating choices.
Tsebu — Google review
I guess that this is the only Irish Pub in UB. great vibe with beers and cocktail. The signature mojito is excellent here and I find the Mongyu beef rather tasty too. it is as equally as good as Wagyu or Kobe. The local Mongol cuisine is also available here as great too. However, it is Irish pub. it is not hard to just skip Mongol cuisine and go for traditional pub dish here. All in all, a great place to drink and hangout all day long.
Joachim K — Google review
It's alright, but a bit overpriced for the area. The music is a bit loud and service is alright.
Jordan S — Google review
An Irish pub like this you would not find in Ireland. Large seating area inside and outside. TV screens everywhere. Cool place to watch the wrestling during Naadaam. Food is little slow but huge portions.
D. R — Google review
Since 2005 & known as one of the most remote Irish pubs in the world...
PJ, D — Google review
Old reliable pub that’s been a staple for older Mongolians and expats for a few decades now. It can be a frustrating experience getting the attention of the waiters (order everything you need in one go during peak hours) and the food is definitely on the expensive side by Mongolian standards but it’s a fine establishment all the same. They have VIP rooms on the second floor as well. Burger and sausages are genuinely pretty good.

First experience in an authentic Mongolia food in this restaurant. Overall is an superb experience and food is delicious. Had many various type of local food and all taste very good. Very enjoyable dining experience. I had the covered mutton soup and beef tongue on mashed potatoes with salad. Everything was excellent. Service was attentive to the button I was given and the food took about 30 minutes to come out. Highly recommend. Price was perfect.

Expect that you possibly will need to wait for a free table. Food was so-so. My friend enjoyed Mongolian food though. Maybe it’s not the best restaurant to come for non Mongolian dish (I had pasta). Most of the waiters speak English. Nice view from the terrace.
Შურია — Google review
Came here for Mongolian food but was refused to enter the restaurant. The Mongolian staff informed that non-reservation is not welcomed though I saw 90% of tables at that time were available. No one waited. Additionally, there was a review saying that walk-in is acceptable. I was very curious about the reservations that she mentioned, so I checked how to reserve but found no information and no reservation gateways in the official page. I think she didn’t say the truth about the reservations. If tables are truly fully booked, it’s ok. Just inform me that “Sorry, tables are fully booked” but she did not say that. I hope this is not discrimination. I communicated with staff in English so the language should not be a problem to enter the restaurant.

Khaan Buuz, also known as Ulsiin Ikh Delguur, is a fast food restaurant in Mongolia that caters to those looking for local cuisine. It offers a variety of dishes such as mutton soup, mutton dumplings, plain bun, carrot salad, and traditional savory milk tea. The food is quick and affordable, making it a great option for those on the go. The menu has visual aids to help customers choose their meals easily.
Good place to try your Mongolian dishes. Affordable food too. They accept card also. Place is just in front of the State Department Store

Went there to try the national food dumpling. There wasn't any English menu so I have to use the translator. Decided to have the dumpling in tea soup and a vegetable salad. The salad is nice and fresh with a sweet dressing sauce while the dumpling was meat ball wrapped in flour skin, so I didn't really like it. But the place is clean and tidy, self service. Recommended.

Affordable, no-nonsense yet really clean business offering local fare in a cafetaria setting. A good introduction to Mongolian food without breaking the bank.

Good value in this Mongolian. Also the Locals goes there for a eat. Perfect food for cheap oriented Backpackers. I recommend the pineapple chicken rice but they have also other dishes. Recommended to give it a fair chance.

I almost forgot to mention this little gem! It’s typical Mongolian fast food, but the taste—especially the meat and milk—is exceptional. The portion sizes are impressive as well. So, don’t hesitate to give it a try; you won’t regret it!

La Rosa Tapas & Tequila Bar is the latest addition to the Rosewood Hospitality Group, known for their top-rated restaurant. The chef and owner, Cliff, has created a menu that combines Spanish and Mexican flavors with traditional and fusion dishes. The restaurant opens at 5:00 pm and fills up quickly due to its exceptional service and vibrant atmosphere. With its unique decor, including a custom-made pool table, La Rosa offers a lively setting for enjoying tapas and shared plates.
I went around 5:45pm and it already had a decent amount of people already there. I picked my own table and the servers quickly brought bread, jug of water and the menu. In order to get your servers attention you'll want to raise your hand and then they'll come promptly. I ordered the chicken burrito with a margarita. I'll say, the margarita is one of the best I've had in UB. Tastes just like it does back in the US. The chicken burrito came out lightning fast, I'd say 3-4 minutes after I had ordered. The burrito had excellent flavour in it with some avocado as well. Overall a solid meal. For dessert I ordered the cheesecake which was really the best part. The flavor was so rich and delectable. I pondered the tres leches but the cheesecake was the better choice. Overall an enjoyable restaurant to have quality food, it doesn't disappoint.

The tacos I had here were absolutely amazing and one of few vegetarian options I was able to find in Ulaanbaatar. I did get them to go because the restaurant was very crowded and practically a party. Would be fun, just not alone. Highly recommend the mushroom tacos!
Karina E — Google review
The food is flavorful, well‑crafted, and perfect for sharing if you’re 2😅 the portions are too small for their prices. But the bites were delicious I must say. Best tequila in the neighborhood, take a pint of classic one. The music and vibe is good. It gets really loud so you can barely hear anything. There’s a pool to play, but some customers may be rude to you and not let you play. There are several sitting areas: indoor, at the bar, outside (summer), open kitchen and private rooms.
Ksana — Google review
Great time. Food was surprisingly good( we are in middle of Mongolia and this was good Mexican food). Tequila was good. I went late on a Saturday night and was no issue getting a table or bar seat. Service was good. They have an outdoor seating area so I don't know why people say you cant smoke(unless they don't allow but not sure). Ya it was a bit noisy as most Mexican restaurants are but thats how I like it. They have pool tables as well.

Remarkable choice for a special date. It'd be what you'd call a fusion cuisine. The menu has good versatility though I don't agree on its pricing. A good place to start if you'd like to get a grasp on finessed cuisine. The place had a hot launch but has since degraded in every aspect. When I last came here, I couldn't hold a conversation without spitting on my company or putting my mouth in their ears thanks to their brilliant music. The ventilation system seemed to have failed as we became barbecues by the time we left. The churros I ordered had a deceptive look as it had a mushy texture. A big disappointment.
Oyundalai E — Google review
The food is very average and very blend. And everyone was shouting at each other because the music is really really loud. We asked multiple time to turn down the volume but they turn it up! Everyone is suffer so please have better service. We asked for sauces that also never come as well. The cocktail also extremely sweet so please avoid the Margaritas

Young, hip, fancy and loud are the first things come to my mind when entering the place. A great location with different seating areas and a very attentive and great service team. One of the best restaurants in UB!! Delicious food that is reasonably priced. I got the chicken salad and the tomato sorba. Both were so delicious I came back 2 days later to get more. Was craving Indian food after a few days touring. This was an excellent choice. Food was generous and aptly spiced. What elevated it was the warm and friendly service of the male Indian server. He made sure I ordered the right amount of spice, checked on me every so often and was a genuine plus to this restaurant. Definitely a great choice in the area.

For a while, UB was a real mecca for Indian Food. Then, most of the Indian Restaurants in town went a bit downhill. Not so this place! It is the total gem of UB. Best Indian Food I've had since I was in Akra. Two Indian guys in the back cooking. Fabulous. If you're looking for table-cloths and candlelight, go elsewhere. If you're looking for the best Tikka Masala ever produced this is it. They appear to do a significant takeout business also.

Excellent food with rich satisfying flavours and enormous portions. A half portion here is almost equivalent to a full UK portion! Good value too. The price is light on your pocket also. Can’t complain on a delicious dish that fills you up and affordable. So so so sooo yummy, hit the spot for sure!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

During my visit, I experience good customer service in connection to kindness. If you look at the picture of my meal, are you able to find a picture to match in the eatery's menu? I'm familiar with available Vegan options in the local Vegan market: I mention so because I like to buy a similar variety of Vegan chicken nuggets (in the meal in the picture of what I receive for my order) from a local Vegan market. Reviewing the meal in the picture (which I receive as my order); the chicken nuggets taste best to me with rice and salad on top after a dip in the creamy-sweet sauce; the ingredients taste better together than apart, to me. The interior of the eatery is calm, chill, and down to earth (I like wood as a part of interior/ decorating). The eatery accepts different forms of payment.

Classic Mongolian diner, no frills, very limited options on their menu but their buuz was delicious. Simple, hearty, scrumptious. Huushuur was a bit too dough-y for my taste and the mantuu wasn’t very generous with the meat. Potato salad was fine but the milk tea was soooo good. Perfect for a cold day. My wife took me to this restaurant twice. Once for breakfast and once for dinner. The breakfast...incredible. we had the French Toast and I had the mocha. The French Toast was so buttery and so sweet, it was like candy for breakfast. My wife actually got their Lemon Pie. It also tasted fantastic. So tart with a flaky pastry shell. The dinner was less so. We both had the Chicken Burger. It was a massive burger, so no problem there. It had a really nice crispy golden coating so no issue there either. We both just thought it was lacking flavour which was weird because everything else we've had there was extra flavourful. Either way, a nice restaurant with a great price and very friendly staff.

MexiKhan is a unique dining spot in Mongolia, being the first and only authentic Mexican restaurant in the country. The menu features a variety of Latin American dishes prepared by a team of Mexican and Mongolian chefs using locally sourced ingredients, including high-quality meat from the Bulgan province. Guests can indulge in Tex-Mex classics like burritos and tacos, as well as Peruvian and Cuban specialties. The vibrant atmosphere with soft red lighting creates a lively ambiance, especially during salsa dancing nights.
Beers are always crispy cold👍. Fries are always hot and fresh. Service is speedy and nice. The one and only issue would be the restroom. But overall, very good.

The staff was nice and friendly, but the food was mid and everything in this restaurant was overpriced. If you ask me to choose between Chipotle (or even Taco Bell) and this restaurant, I would prefer Chipotle though 🤷‍♂️ Plus, I thought it may not a good place for bringing the family up (especially if they speak English) since they played some songs with inappropriate lyrics.
Tmir — Google review
We ordered food for nine people. The food was great, and everyone was satisfied. However, the interior decoration is quite old and needs renovation.
Test A — Google review
I remember first time ordering a burger from them (a couple years ago) and the portion was enormous!!!! It came with fried potatoes and a side of salad (all included into the price). And a year later I ordered the same burger and it was tiny and came with nothing. Overall the food is good, just the add mayo to every single dish.
Ksana — Google review
A Mexican-American (“Chicano”) Review: —FOOD: I ordered the “Enchilada Con Frejoles”, yet not a single frijole (bean) could be found. It would have decent to be informed by the kitchen staff that they were out of frijoles so I could order something different, instead I was given an overcooked tortilla filled with chicken. To call this an enchilada is false to say the least. This was filled only with bland chicken and with barely any sauce. I honestly enjoyed the salad more than the main course. The only things I can positively say is that there was some effort in presentation and the chicken wasn’t dry at least. —SERVICE: NOTE: The waitress was a nice young lady and I commend her for her well treatment of me, tending to all the customers, and the establishment itself. So she is the reason for there being even a single star rather than zero. So the service rating is objectively concerning the restaurant as a whole during my lunch-hour visit. She alone was tending to me and the other customers (upstairs and downstairs) while also tending to other tasks such as preparing napkins, silverware, and such. Meanwhile, three employee men with the same attire and the bartender sat around the bar talking with their backs turned to all the customers. A shameful display… —ATMOSPHERE: The name of this place is clever and catchy. The interior design is very nice and is well decorated. I liked what I saw and I especially liked how they cleverly wrapped the pillars with many different mexicano and chicano themed films. This made me feel a little more at home, but unfortunately the music being played killed what could have been a 5 star-rating for ambience. Rather than having Mexican or Chicano music playing it was predominantly Mongolian rap music and some Mongolian pop music (some of which I personally like). It seemed as though it was what the three Mongol amigos wanted to listen to rather than giving the customers a Mexican ambiance. In conclusion, I was honestly looking forward to visiting this place when I found it on Google. I’m disappointed to say the least. There are a two things we Mexicans do well: work hard and make one of the greatest foods in the world. In my opinion, the Mongols and other peoples visiting Ulaanbaatar deserve to know what our food truly tastes like. I must concur with a previous review that this is more of a “Mexi-Can’t” and due to the price of the meal it felt like I got “Mexi-Conned”.
B S — Google review
I went to a Mexican restaurant in Ulaanbaatar because I was craving spicy food. The staff at the restaurant spoke English, and the restaurant was good, but my choice of dish was not great. I ordered nachos, but ended up eating a mountain of tortilla chips that didn’t include any meat or cheese. Next time, I’ll try ordering a burrito or enchiladas.
Mariko T — Google review
I grew up with Mexican food in Arizona so when I travel I always seek out comida. This place should be called Mexi-can't because the food doesn't quite cut it, but the locals don't seem to notice— on a Friday the place is bustling.

Hutong Restaurant, located in Shangri-La Ulaanbaatar, is a popular Chinese eatery known for its exceptional food service and delectable gourmet traditional Chinese cuisine. This locally beloved restaurant is highly regarded for its reasonable prices, which have garnered excitement from numerous reviewers on platforms like Trip Advisor. As a result, Hutong has become a sought-after destination for college students and other patrons seeking an enjoyable dining experience.
The food is superb. The service is so so. The space is really nice. All the other tables ordered the whole duck, which looked amazing! But we were only two people so we didn’t want so much food.
Philippa H — Google review
We had a lunch set for two, it had rice and light soup, accompanied by4-5 side dishes. Its located at the 3rd floor of Shangri la hotel, bit pricey but meets the price expectations.
Sonya E — Google review
Hutong was a great dining experience overall — the atmosphere was stylish, the service attentive, and most of the dishes were well-executed. However, I was genuinely shocked by how disappointing their steamed dumplings were. In a Chinese restaurant, dumplings are one of the most fundamental dishes, and unfortunately, these were dry, stale, and lacking in flavor. We both agreed they were probably the worst dumplings we’ve ever had — even store-bought frozen ones would have been better. That said, the rest of the meal was solid enough to still warrant a 4-star rating, but I really hope they revisit their dumpling recipe.
Anderson S — Google review
Somewhat disappointed from the food of Hutong in UB. It wasn’t bad, but also wasn’t the best. The worst dish were the dumplings with prawns and onion, the dough was really not good and the filling was mostly egg? Portions are very generous and two dishes are more than enough for two people. Service was ok, we didn’t wait too long for the food, about 30-40 min. But the waters don’t speak a good English. The interiors are nice and the vibe is relaxed.
Andrea M — Google review
This review is for a dinner we had last September, but the experience was so memorably poor that it has stuck with me. For a restaurant located within a prestigious five-star hotel, we were anticipating a phenomenal meal. What we received was anything but. The main issue was the food itself. We ordered 3 different main courses and an appetizer, which were shockingly bland. The promise of dynamic, high-end Chinese cuisine fell completely flat, with each dish lacking the vibrant flavors and thoughtful execution one would expect at this price point. However, the most bewildering moment of the night came when we ordered a bottle of Spanish red wine. It was brought to our table warm!! When we politely pointed this out to the manager, we were informed, without a hint of apology, that the restaurant does not have a wine cooler! Let me repeat that: a restaurant in a five-star hotel does not have the basic equipment to serve wine at its proper temperature. This is a fundamental failure in hospitality and something I have never encountered at an establishment of this supposed caliber. Needless to say, we are not going back!
Nara B — Google review
Hutong specializes in Northern Chinese cuisine—think expertly prepared Beijing duck, Mapo tofu, Kung Pao Chicken, hot pot dishes, and dim sum. Came here especially for Cantonese Delighs menu. Everything tasted super good, portions were fine. The prices were upscale for signature dishes. The service leaves much to be desired. Lack of stuff made us wait for a long time, the waitress was just skipping us.

Sakura, a renowned Japanese bakery and cafe, is widely acclaimed for its delectable offerings such as the famous fluffy Japanese cheesecake and affordable yet tasty katsus. Additionally, patrons are advised not to linger after finishing their meal to avoid receiving disapproving glares from those waiting in line.

If u want to try a Japanese version of UB. You should add it to ur list. It’s really busy during lunch time . The place is small and always crowded but u can always enjoy your time there . The prices are affordable and perfect quality. This restaurant is related to a big company so their resources are available and granted. The menu is small which makes it better .

This place has real cult status in UB! For around 20k you get really good Japanese food and excellent cakes. Prepare for a long wait to be seated though. And once you sit, you better eat up and make space quickly for the next people in the queue. It is a real experience and I highly recommend it. But I can also understand the people that don't like the concept, hence my warning here. It’s my one of favorite places. I like their udon noodles. So yummy!! U have to eat quickly like in Japan. Because the place has a little space and always people wait seats there. Owner is Japanese guy and it really feels like Japan atmosphere.

Such a great little spot. If you're in Ulaanbaatar, you'll most likely find yourself at the State Department Store at some point. Just down the road is this bakery/restaurant. It's one of my wife's favourites because of their baked goods. So, I had to try it. While I never had the opportunity to try their food beyond the baked goods, what I did have was incredible. 3 different cheesecakes and a piece of apple tart and all were delicious. Their Special Cheesecake was something I've never had before. It was unlike any cheesecake I've ever had and the topping was like a sweet cloud. Loved all of it.

Mediterranean restaurant
Restaurant
Located near the historic Choijin Lama Temple, Choijin Temple Restaurant is a fine dining establishment offering a unique blend of Mediterranean cuisine with Mongolian influences. Opened in 2016, this elegant venue provides a diverse menu featuring antipasti, meats, fish, pastas, and risottos. The restaurant has garnered praise for its superb food selection and excellent service. While it may be on the pricier side, it offers a convenient location within walking distance of the temple.
Choijin Temple Restaurant offers delicious food and well-crafted drinks in a spacious, inviting setting. The large windows bring in plenty of light, making it a comfortable space for any type of gathering—whether casual or formal. While a few menu items were unavailable during our visit, the alternatives we tried were still satisfying. The service was excellent—warm, attentive, and welcoming. Overall, a great experience. Highly recommended!
Anderson S — Google review
Staff were friendly, and the environment was very nice. The drinks were great, and while the appetizer and main dish sides were quite similar, they were still enjoyable. My steak was first served well-done, but the staff quickly offered to recook it for medium-rare. The second attempt came out medium-well — better than the first, but still not quite right. Despite this, I still recommend the restaurant and am willing to give it a second chance.
Monica — Google review
The best menu I've found in the city. Good quality products and meals. Simple decor with elements of Mongolian tradition. The worst thing is the service. The waitress is nice and smiling but doesn't know her job, very unprofessional. She won't manage without good training. But the kitchen defends itself so I'll be back.
Robert P — Google review
The food was good, not excellent, the Mongolian beef I had was a little chewy. Same complaint from a friend we were together. They were late to serve two people in our party of 9
Homero N — Google review
Service staff were kind though I couldn’t speak the language. Food was impeccable, absolutely loved the pork ribs!! Not sure if I would order the roast chicken mezza again (it’s like a mediterranean pizza) as i’m not a fan of cheese sauce but even so, that was super flavourful and everything went so well together. I cleaned my plates haha. Passionfruit iced tea was also super yum!! Update: I came back a second time, this time the chicken skewers were kind of dry and the passionfruit tea was too sweet, pork ribs were also not as tender.. sad
Nars K — Google review
It was the worst steak I’ve ever had in my life. I ordered a T-bone, but I have no idea what I was actually served—the meat was very tough. As for the vegetable salad they brought, I have nothing to say… Finally, I wanted to order a dessert, but they told me they only had ice cream. I really, really didn’t like this place at all.
Guney D — Google review
I had the pumpkin soup and lamb chops. The soup was just OK, kind of bland. The lamb chops came out well done. Waste of perfectly good baby sheep. This was totally my fault for not specifying. I assumed the server would ask, and when he didn't, I just let it go. Lamb chops were still tasty, but would have been fantastic medium rare. The pumpkin mash with chickpeas that came with it was awesome....how the soup should have been seasoned.... A little allspice/cinnamon/clove something. Very good. I had on jeans and sneakers with a pullover shirt. I felt grossly underdressed. I would have left when I walked in, but I was literally the only one there (very early dinner). Collared shirt and slacks for sure. No sneakers.

I like that the restaurant has balanced dishes though one full meal was not filling for me😁 They are also one of a few restaurants that have kids’ menu with various options. Here’s what we’ve had: - grilled salmon - chicken skewers (kids’ menu) - beef kofta (strangely couldn’t find this dish in their online menu🙈)

It's now know as MG Hot pot. Food was good. Prices reasonable.. Not much English spoken but nothing that you can't work around by pointing or using Google translate. Very nice place as well. The mala or spicy soup very different from those that you get in other countries like Malaysia or China

Best Hot Pot restaurant in town, excellent for big family occasions, business meetings, etc. Private rooms available. Excellent food options, multiple soup choices for hot pot, vegetables, meat and sauces. I recommend the pomegranate ice tea, so refreshing in the hot summer!

Great hotpot restaurant! The quality of the ingredients is very good and fresh. They have a English menu and English speaking staff. They price quality ratio is extremely good. The service is great but not on the level of HaiDiLao. Nevertheless, I think it’s the best place for hotpot in Mongolia. The furniture is top notch!

Must book in advance. Peak hour is full. Soup wise is quite tasteless even after cooking all our beef, lamb, pork, vegetables etc in it for more than 1 hour. The quality of meat n vegetables are good as is the service.

Beautiful place with very nice deco. Decent food with lots of variety. Had the Mongolian bone soup, that could be tastier. Didn't really have much taste, so a lot of the dishes, I needed to dip into the peanut and soy sauce. Otherwise, a very nice environment for dinner with friends.

The interior is quite nice and lively, service is polite and fast but the food is just OK at best. Majority of the menu is hot pot related but they have a few items they prepare in-house. Reasonably priced.
Saikhnaa — Google review
Wonderful! We had all the types of meats, in this private little room for 12 people. Even horse meat! Which, to be honest had the same flavor to the normal cow meat we eat everywhere. These rich flavours of the food, the cleanliness of the place, everything perfect. We all got our own hot pot, and the center table goes around so you go grabing your own meat, noodles, dumplings anything you want and cook it in there. The fried rice comes ready and is brutal!

Everything was perfect in a way I couldn’t even describe. Cozy environment & atmosphere, service was quicker and kinder than what I expected. The food tastes super good and I would go there again. 5/5

Very disappointing experience. The server never acknowledged us when we walked in, and when the food arrived, the enchiladas had burnt tortillas. This is a lovely, comfortable place to eat. We had assorted tacos, Rogan Josh, and naan. There were enough toppings on the tacos that we used naan so that each one made 2 tacos. The food was all very good, but it is worth noting there are a lot of flavors and spices that overlap between Indian and Mexican cuisine, and in this instance the flavors of the Mexican food leaned more than usual towards tasting like Indian food. It was delicious, and a much better pairing of cuisine than Carlos O'Kelly's near Washington DC in the USA, which serves Irish and Mexican food and makes no sense at all.

Enjoyed our food. The meat was tender and easy to chew, glazed with some delicious sauce. Their bread was the best I’ve had in town yet. A bit of old vibes 🕰️ Food is actually not bad. The ambiance is with a touch of elegance, and the outdoor patio was perfect on a warm evening. We started with a fresh salad, which was vibrant and perfectly dressed with a light vinaigrette that complemented the crisp greens. The Merlot we paired it with was a great choice from their extensive wine list. (smooth and well-balanced). The spicy seafood soup had just the right kick and I’d say the spice level was mild enough for most palates. We also tried a variety of other dishes, including the fillet steak. Overall, Le Bistrot Français is a gem in Ulaanbaatar for anyone craving refined French cuisine with a welcoming vibe. Recommended.
Dr M — Google review
To start with the positive, nice setting, comfortable tables and chairs, nice glasses and cutlery, amicable staff (which is usually the case in UB), food of decent quality. Then the not positive: a good portion of the menu is unavailable (and it takes forever to order because of back and forth with the kitchen), beef will always be served super well done regardless of customer’s desire, waiting times are long for food to arrive in spite of few diners in the restaurant.

I want to express the food is acceptable but the service you need to be cautious on how they show you the menu and make sure check the final price if they will overcharge. Server will show the lowest price menus that is for local but will not reveal the other menu that is for the tourist as they claim. Example I have to pay 11,000 mnt for a can of coke. Local menu (which they claim is for local) and that is what the server will show us when drink for a can of coke is 9.000 mnt, payment time is 11,000 mnt. I want to express why they are not willing to show the final price and never informed us. Food is acceptable and atmosphere is excellent. They are not trustable base on what they will charge on the final bill.

Excellent place to hang out with friends, family. Reasonable price and the beef burger that I tried has a delightful taste, the soft buns and the tender beef is a great combo, but the salt wasn’t spread evenly so that’s the only negative thing I can point out. The environment is also put into consideration, love the interior design. The music playlist is to my taste, the workers here are really nice and have great vibes. The light covers above the corner seat are made of tin cans, very environmentally friendly! They give you black gloves with your order for hygiene, which is a great plus of this place, also a cool free wristband along the meal. I definitely recommend going here, if you want to chill out with your friends, family in a relaxed atmosphere. As for me, I’m gonna come back here to try out the bulgogi burger.
Twixi R — Google review
I ordered the ₮27,000 set with a burger, fries, and cola, but everything was terrible. The burger was tiny and tasted metallic, the fries were bland, and overall the meal was a huge disappointment. While I was there, a woman was loudly complaining about the tea, and the staff couldn’t handle the situation—making the atmosphere even worse. From start to finish, the experience was unpleasant. I do not recommend this place to anyone.
Zolboo B — Google review
This burger was a war crime in a bun. Even CU convenience store burgers taste like gourmet in comparison. Whoever made this clearly thought sauce could cover their sins, but instead drowned the entire burger in what tasted like straight vinegar. I left with heartburn and regret. The bun was soggy enough to qualify as soup, the patty was so thin I almost needed a magnifying glass to find it, and the fries? Mid. The only thing that had flavor were the mosquitoes that bit me while I ate. Truly, an unforgettable experience — for all the wrong reasons.
- E — Google review
Burger’s OK. The patties were way too soft and I’ve never been a big fan of using fresh cucumbers for burgers. Service was prompt, food came out fast, it was reasonably priced at 18900 and the place seems like a nice chill place to study or chit chat. Appreciated the gloves and they’re definitely of proper make to ensure your fingers are clean at the end.

The food’s just fine (fried rice had generous portions of meat but it’s a bit hard to eat since it’s still on the bone, tonkotsu ramen had just stir fried pork and forgettable noodles & broth) but the service is polite and fast, atmosphere is pleasant and modern, and the dishes come fast and are reasonably priced. Overall a decent choice for a meal especially if you want a quick bite to eat.

Great place to go if you want a convenient fast food experience. You can order and pay through their app and accumulate points that can be used to discount your next meal(s). The food is always consistently alright - not bad, not great.

Back and forth because this is near the pace I stayed in Blue Sky Hotel. Good Ramen, good fried rice, Well, not the best ramen and fried rice I ever had, but acceptable. I am a little bit upset about the spiciness. They said the fried rice is spicy, but it's not spicy at all, according to me 😄

I visited Arig late evening on weekday with my friends as the firstly visited restaurant was almost close time. I ordered Cheese Ramen which came with big chickens and lot of Parmesan cheese. It’s of course delicious but a bit too much for the late night meal. Anyway I like it.

Well it's depend on how you lucky Some times i order the food it come after 10 minutes that's i like it I do understand how busy they working and try to satisfy costumers But last couple weeks i ordered food and its took 40~ minutes like they forgot or just didn't know that order is waiting

I was kinda hungover and wanted to have ramen for lunch. The place was packed. But the service is fast. The chicken ramen though, seems to me lacks flavour. Just not that tasty 🍜 after some time i might get bored of their ramen bowls. Anyway I like the place. Price is decent(meaning if you go there everyday, you go brokie). Looking for a quick ramen shop that’s reliable and will make you some good ramen?? This is the place. Overall, 3.5/5

Lately, their ramen doesn’t taste good. Actually i like their chicken ramen. But now tastes not good. Maybe u like it. Their green tea is good. Their atmosphere and spaces is nice. They have terrace too. When summertime, its best choice to sit there.

Turning Point Jazz Café is a vibrant hotspot in Ulaanbaatar, attracting the city's trendy youth and expat community alike. This chic yet inviting venue combines a restaurant, bar, and contemporary jazz space under one roof. The interior boasts an elegant design with whitewashed brick walls, wooden floors, and a stunning mural by Portuguese artist Paulo Buchinho that captures the essence of jazz. Guests can indulge in a delightful selection of European-inspired dishes ranging from fresh salads to hearty paninis and comforting soups.
A good local dive bar. It becomes full on Fridays and Saturdays.
Zolboo N — Google review
This is a trendy bar for the late twenty somethings to forty somethings. No food was being served on a Friday night (it was early March). A cool spot to observe the locals kicking back. Friendly staff to this foreigner. Also not really jazz music being played, I asked if there was live music and got a funny look, so I would say Jazz cafe in name only.

Bar
Brussels Belgian Beer Cafe is a beer bar located at the back side of the Shangri-La Mall, renowned for its extensive beer selection. Situated on the access road to Shangri-La Hotel, this establishment has become a popular choice for outdoor dining during Ulaanbaatar's hot summer nights. The cuisine has progressively improved and includes finger food favorites like fish and chips, as well as unique tortilla chip nachos.
Delicious food, cozy atmosphere, and friendly service! Visiting Brussels Belgian Beer Cafe was truly a great experience. The food quality was excellent — especially the Belgian waffles and the steak paired with Belgian beer were absolutely delicious. They offer a wide variety of Belgian beers, which perfectly complement the flavors of the dishes. The atmosphere is very cozy with a charming European interior style and warm lighting. The music selection was tasteful — not too loud, but it added a nice lively touch to the overall vibe. Located in a central area, it's easy to find and a great spot for meeting friends or going on a date. The staff were very friendly, attentive, and the service was prompt and efficient. Overall, if you're looking for great food, quality beer, and a comfortable ambiance, I highly recommend checking out Brussels Belgian Beer Cafe!

Absolutely love this place! During dinner hours, the atmosphere is relaxed and the music is at just the right level to enjoy their great meals. As the night goes on, the energy builds in the best way. If you’re looking for a fun, high-energy spot to kick off the night, this place delivers. Great beer selection with both tap and Belgian favorite crafts. Staff are fast and friendly, even when it’s packed.👍🏻

Delicious food, cozy atmosphere, nice music and good service. The lunch menu varies by day. And, at affordable prices. The breakfast looks instagramable😍 pancakes were really delicious. The general menu is at high price as well as drinks. My favorite is cherry beer. I wish it was draft tho. It’s also the best place to smoke shisha.
Ksana — Google review
Cozy ambience serve by friendly host makes this joint a great place to chill. Belgium beer is the main dish.
H N — Google review
The service was very disappointing. One of the waitresses was extremely rude and served us with a bad attitude. They only gave one menu for two people, which was inconvenient. We ordered breakfast but had to wait over an hour to receive it. The food was neither hot nor fresh. Strangely, people who came in after us received their food before we did. When we asked about it, we were told the food was served in order, but clearly that wasn’t the case. After waiting an hour, the breakfast we received was tasteless and not worth the wait. The restaurant really needs to improve its customer service.

Really good place⭐️ Food ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Delicious 🤌🏻 Dessert was kind of old otherwise amazing!!! Price was really good. Service ⭐️⭐️⭐️ I don't think waiter's wanted some tip. They have to recommend what they have or communicate to the customers. Atmosphere was totally worth it. You'll never regret to go there.
未来Mirai — Google review
Huge burger that’s somewhat unwieldy, nice crispy fries, good if not remarkable taste overall. Had their beer a few times before and it’s definitely enjoyable. The service is prompt and the interior is beautiful. The only thing I’d really criticize the place for is that it’s quite a bit more expensive compared to pretty much anywhere else in Ulaanbaatar. The food on its own doesn’t justify the cost to me (as the ingredients in the burger aren’t anything to write home about) and the marked up imported beer is also quite pricey. Expect to pay amounts equivalent to an expensive pub in Western Europe.

Ruby Room UB is a popular hamburger bar located in the heart of Ulaanbaatar, near the Nomin department store. The cafe-style bar offers a stylish atmosphere and a great selection of burgers at reasonable prices. Customers praise the huge portion sizes and delicious flavors, with some noting that the burgers are so large they need to be eaten with a knife. The service is described as fast and friendly, making it an ideal spot for lunch or casual hangouts.
I like this place very much. They serve delicious and juicy burgers here. There is a spicy option if you are into spicy food. The place is hard to notice from the street; you have to walk into the building area in order to find it. The prices are s little higher in other places I suppose. All in all it is a good place to spend time eating and having some beer.
Weare H — Google review
Burger is really good. But potato is not my type.
Zulzaya E — Google review
On their menu they had a lot of options for burgers but I ordered the three mini burgers and an extra plate of chips. The burgers were ok, a bit dry and not as juicy as I would have liked, but I guess they did the business as I was hungry. They actually came with some chips as well so the extra order of chips was far too much for myself. The chips too were a bit dry and not crispy at all, very stodgy. But I honestly couldn't eat so much food, so left a lot on the plate.....me bad! Portion sizes were very good it has to be said. The place had a nice décor and there was a pleasant atmosphere in the burger bar. Service was good and efficient. With a big pint of beer, the total bill came to a very reasonable 14 Euros..... excellent value I think. I wanted to like the burger, but to be honest I have had better. Sorry guys.

The ambiance at Asiana Central Restaurant is pleasant and tranquil, with an authentic interior showcasing various Asian designs such as Mongolian, Japanese, and Chinese. Although some may find the food satisfactory rather than exceptional, the restaurant comes highly recommended for those seeking genuine Mongolian flavors.
Really liked the interior and also selection of meals (way better than previous restaurant). I had hot pot last time and it was delicious. Good service and definitely one to come for nice lunch again. Also, location is very central and perfect. Next time I will sit next to the window where I can enjoy the view of Sukhbaatar square.

This store is crowded with young people. It is crowded with many customers even late at night on weekdays. The store is large and spacious, and you can enjoy your drink in comfortable seats. It was quite crowded during the live music time. Last order was around 0:00.

Average food with above average prices. Some items are reasonable while others are not. You used to be able to get 1L of beer for 12k but now the prices are raised much higher. Another example is the lasagna dip, used to be 32k but now it's 49k. Prices just get higher and higher. If you're expecting good service you should leave it at the door when you walk in. Staff are usually zoning out on their phone or just straight up avoiding your table.

Quite a nice pub. You'd expect a tradition Mongolian interior, jusging by the name, but they styled it in an Oktoberfest fashion. The cafe Fromagerie MACU, short for Mongolian Artisan Cheese Union, has gained recognition as one of the top ten restaurants in Ulaanbaatar. It operates cheese plants and distributes Mongolian cheese as its primary business. The shop and cafe have become immensely popular among locals since their opening, serving as a go-to destination before the onslaught of Covid-19.
4.8/5 Highly recommend the food! This place is truly a hidden gem. I had no idea they offered food before, but I’m so glad I discovered it. The cheesecake 🧀was fantastic – fresh, flavorful, and had that authentic taste. We also tried the four-cheese pizza, which was incredible. The sauce was rich, and each cheese brought its own unique flavor, blending perfectly. 🍕The blueberry hot drink was a pleasant surprise too, with little to no added sugar, making it feel light and refreshing. I’ll definitely be back for more 🔥

It was the first place in UB where I tried the most delicious pasta there. But I guess it depends on the chef as later it tasted differently. Tried aaaall of them😄 Recommended anyway. There were 3 types of cheesecake. Try with sea buckthorn as something local. The owner is always there. He’s super welcoming and always cares about his customers. They also sell their own cheese.
Ksana — Google review
A quaint little restaurant in UB. But don't let it deceive you, while the seating is limited and a bit on top of other people the food makes up for it. The service from my few experiences here is either attentive or non-existent. The owner, Mike, makes you feel at home and does an excellent job welcoming you. The menu is varied and has a lot of choices. The pasta is by far the best. The downside is the portions aren't the biggest and a bit pricey. I've had the burgers a few times and in my opinion, easily top 3 in UB. You can taste the quality in every ingredient. Absolutely recommend this place, in terms of price and quality it's one of the best in town.

I first stepped into the cafe on my second day in Ulanbatur in September before my friends and I leave for our Altai trip. The cafe was on my good food list that I had looked up before visiting Mongolia. The Borscht is heavenly and full of vegetables and meat. Our first time trying the hot seabuckthorn tea- we were smitten and literally throughout our tour we looked for this drink in our stops😆. I had the yak sausages after my Altai trip .It was delicious with lovely roast potatoes and the yumm condiments. My 3rd time was after my Gobi trip when we returned to UB. We had the awesome 4 cheese pizza and Spagetti Bolognese. I wish I could pack one and bring home on departure😋. On my last day in UB,I bought the delicious Khustai Gouda to bring home. I will definetely dine here again on next trip to UB Thank U Michael and your staff🥰

A little haven if you miss European style food. A good wine selection is available for European tastes and the dishes are freshly prepared. I had the yak meat sausages with sauteed potatoes and it was first class. The staff are amazing: dedicated and passionate about the restaurant and the food they serve. The owner is an interesting, well travelled and worldly guy that takes time to engage with his customers. Try the organic, small batch artisan cheese: uniquely Mongolian in its deep, rich taste. It gives Gouda a whole new dimension.

Ramen restaurant
Restaurant
ARIG RAMEN is a popular eatery known for its wide range of ramen dishes, all made with their own handcrafted noodles and bone broth simmered for an impressive 20 hours. The restaurant operates from Monday to Friday between 9:00am and 11:00pm, while on weekends it opens at 10:00am. Once inside, customers are given a small number card and can choose any available seat to enjoy their meal.
If you're a fried rice and steak lover then you have definitely got to try this place out. I think I'm speaking for all the Nigerians in the world at this point. Their fried rice taste just exactly how it taste back home. Y'all should better go try it.

Bayasgalan N — Google review
I went there to have lunch and the staff there were very helpful in assisting me on what type of meat were in the different ramen/rice. Finally decided on a ramen as was hoping for piping hot soup. The place is very clean and nice with a few charging stations. However, the food is not tasty. This first time I find soggy, really soggy ramen and not so hot soup served in a raman restaurant. Though I enjoy the place, but the food really is disappointing.
Eng L — Google review
This place is one of the most favorite ones in Ulaanbaatar for me. In peak hours you won't be able to find seats. It has big panoramic windows along the wall so you can enjoy people watching. Sometimes it is really helpful just to order some soup, sit there at the table, eat your lunch and think about your life. Although it is quite noisy with all these people, if you sit at the window somehow, all the sounds get muted. As for food, I only come here when I want something spicy. You will find tables of various sizes: for one, for a couple and for a group of people. The staff is always nice and welcoming.
Weare H — Google review

Naadam Bar & Restaurant, located inside the Shangri-La Hotel in downtown Ulaanbaatar, offers a modern and chic dining experience. The restaurant is known for its authentic nomadic meals and a great buffet spread. It has a trendy atmosphere with a nice bar area where you can enjoy lunch, dinner, or watch sports events. The decor and service are top-notch, making it an ideal spot for a comfortable dining experience.
The menu offers an eclectic mix of international favorites—pizza, pasta, gourmet burgers—alongside traditional Mongolian dishes like the popular beef khuushuur. Live music and sharing plates add to the vibrant experience. Vegetarian choices are available, though limited. No kids menu. Lunch menu varies by day for a decent price. Served quickly. Desserts were too sweet. The portions were small for the price. In summer you can enjoy their terrace with the park view. In the restaurant there’s also an area with billiards.
Ksana — Google review
Naadam Bar is a visually impressive venue within the beautiful Shangri-La property. The space itself is stylish and comfortable, and the happy hour specials offer excellent value with a good selection of drinks at reasonable prices. However, the service left much to be desired. Despite several staff members being present, it was difficult to get their attention. They often seemed more engaged in chatting with one another than attending to guests. This lack of attentiveness was disappointing and took away from what could have been a much better experience. The food was just okay. Some items arrived cold, and condiments we asked for were forgotten. While the menu has potential, the execution didn’t quite deliver. Naadam has a lot going for it in terms of location, design, and pricing, but the staff would benefit greatly from more training in hospitality and attentiveness. With stronger service, this could easily become one of the standout spots in the hotel.

I haven’t tried their food, only went for cocktails. Six cocktails came to around 260k, and honestly, they were the worst cocktails any of us have ever tried—you’d find better at a dive bar. Really disappointing. The interior is grand but feels more suited to an older crowd, especially with the music.

Ordered a Khuushuur, at an odd hour of 3pm there wasn't anyone. I know the kitchen might be slow at this hour but it took 45mins for just my 1 dish to come. But thats not what got me disappointed/agitated, another friend of two came in after me, somehow they got served the same Khuushuur (one of them, cant help but notice when you've waited so long) before me!! So I had to tell the waitress whats that about. That was around 30mins in of waiting and had to wait another 15mins for a grand total of 45mins. This is poor service. Although she did apologies for the hiccup.. also concur with some of the people who reviewed here they seem to be more occupied talking amongst themselves than being attentive to the needs of the guests. Very very poor service to be in Shangri-la

Hot pot restaurant
The Bull Hot Pot Restaurant is a delightful destination for those who love to customize their dining experience. Here, you can craft your own unique soup by selecting from a variety of flavorful broth bases and an array of fresh meats and vegetables. It's the perfect spot to unleash your creativity in the kitchen! While it may not offer stunning views like its counterpart in Bluemon Tower, The Bull makes up for it with its inviting atmosphere, ideal for gathering with friends.
Great Hot Pot place, same tasty as in the Bluemon tower but no view. Great for sitting with your group of friends!

Tomato soup I received was bland and tasteless. Tasted like water with just a hint of red color. Add ins made it palatable. Prior to bill server requested I scan a code for feedback. He stayed and watched over me as I attempted to complete survey. Everything was average. Service to value.

Our recent visit to Bull hotpot restaurant left us extremely disappointed. From the moment we walked in, it felt like they couldn’t care less about our presence. The staff’s attitude was nothing short of disrespectful. Our orders were consistently mixed up, and it seemed like they were doing us a favor by serving us. It’s a shame that such a beautiful place can be marred by such terrible customer service. We won’t be returning anytime soon.”

This place is another food option in Ulaanbaatar. We had varieties of meat there. It's like individual shabushabu place. The point I didn't really like / disappointed was quantity of meat and soups. They are little bit too wild to me (or may be most of Japanese). But considering this is in Ulaanbaatar, it was good.

41Artisan Sourdough Bakery

Bakery
Artisan Sourdough Bakery is a must-visit spot in Mongolia, offering the best sourdough bread and delightful paninis. The Chile Con Carne sandwich comes highly recommended, but with options like traditional English Breakfast on the menu, choosing can be tough. This cozy bakery also serves tea, coffee, and other drinks. The pizza here is said to be one of the best in town. With indoor seating and a lovely outdoor patio, it's a great place to enjoy your meal.
Awesome little bakery where we grabbed lunch one day. Based on recommendations I went with the Chile Con Carne which was a great choice for the slightly overcast day. A small selection of tea and coffee along with other drink options were available to go with it. Hoping to be able to back and grab a pizza as well as a brownie. They also had loaves of bread which would have been great if I was a local! They have some indoor seating as well as a great outdoor patio if the day was nice!
Brian D — Google review
Nice terrace with tables in the shade or in the sun to enjoy breakfast. Try out the chili con carne toasted sandwich. Real good. A bit spicy.
Hervé M — Google review
I absolutely love their bread and coffee! The bread is always fresh, and the flavors are spot on. I highly recommend giving them a try if you’re in the area.
Bindy B — Google review
The service here is extremely slow, and the shop is clearly unprepared to cater to international guests. I would not recommend this place for international delegates. The staff struggled with basic English communication, which made the ordering process frustrating. Instead of packing the pastries when we placed our order, they had to repeatedly refer back to the system—showing a lack of training and efficiency.
Jason W — Google review
Great sourdough bread, croissants, fruit tarts, coffee.... Great place for breakfast 😍

Also very good for vegetarians. Not on the menu but on request they offered us vegetarian subs with cheese and fried vegetables. Cool and modern style definitely recommendable!

I had the slice of cheesecake, and it was just exquisite! Service was excellent, with a very nice server. The interior was also well done, and the ligthing was fitting! They could improve the packaging for their individual slices. Overall, a 5/5 experience.
Calvin L — Google review
There was no description/menu available at the counter or on tables that could see apart from some specials on a placard. If menus were available we were not offered them. Ordered coffee one iced and one hot and soup/sandwich combo which was ofered on placard on front counter. Given option for bacon or chicken sandwich verbally, no soup option. Cappucino good. Iced latte was not iced but hot, was tasty. Soup turned out to be broccoli and was really good. Sandwich ended up being chicken as they ran out of bacon. Chicken/cheese toasted sandwich was nice but would have been boring without soup. Pleasant atmosphere. Staff lovely but seem uncertain/confused. It looked like there was a new ordering system. They forgot our order, and we waited at least 30 minutes before they came to check, were used to Mongolian service, and were not in a rush, luckily. There was table service for some meals but not ours, we collected ours from the counter. I'm not sure why. Pros: Nice food (great bread) and atmosphere. Staff was nice but seemed alternately terrified (front counter) or frustrated (Chef) Tips: 1. Have a written menu (not necessarily in English) so non Mongolians can make choices away from the counter, which is only a small area. This could be a blackboard or poster if the menu changes daily. This will also make it easier for your staff when dealing with non Mongolian speakers. 2. Support your staff with training on how to use ordering system, making sure they are updated on food availability. 3. Communicate with patrons as to whether food I brought to table or to be collected from kitchen. Ok place but potential to be incredible.

Nice relaxing place The place is near tourist street where there's lots of hostels so the area isn't very nice, but this cafe stands out as it is nicely decorated indoors and has an shop front out door area. Although the out door area ground is slightly sloped. The indoors is nice, staff speaks English well, offers Wifi. great time to enjoy a coffee and a cake, or a cigar. Lights in the bathroom was a bit dark though.

Bitsy & Co. is a small but vibrant space located in the Shangril-La Mall complex, offering an impressive array of flavors and a lively atmosphere. The cozy cafe bar provides a warm and comfortable setting with large windows that offer captivating views of the bustling city life outside. It's recommended to arrive early to secure a seat as it tends to get crowded later in the evening. The friendly and talented team serves up great drinks and engaging conversations, making it an ideal spot for socializing.
(Please give this post a like if you found it helpful, thanks🙋‍♂️) I walked into the friendliest Cafe bar called Bitsy & Co. Upon entering, I was greeted with hellos and genuine smiles. Bitsy & Co is a cozy, warm and comfortable place with big windows giving you captivating views of the hustling life just outside and the tall buildings adjacent to where you're sitting. Grab a seat facing the windows especially if you like people watching and watching life pass by. The bar set up is nice, it's a long bar offering plenty of seating and wide selection of liquors and cocktails. I ordered their bottle beer "little creatures" which was a happy pale ale and quite nice too. Five beers later, I guess you could say: I thoroughly enjoyed them! My waiter was very kind and friendly; a real pleasure to chat with, he reccomended the 'Mac n Cheese Beef Burrito' and beef tacos. I love Mexican food so I obliged his reccomendations and ordered both. Ari is the chef at Bitsy & Co, she is very a beautiful sweet soul and an extremely talented chef Cooking is her passionate hobbie and it truly shows in her cooking style. The Mac n Cheese Burrito is her creative contribution to the many menu items that she creates. Trust me ORDER THIS BURRITO! It is soooo delicious. This burrito is stuffed with wonderfully seasoned beef, melty cheese, lettuce, and a few micro greens on top. It has a panini style light grill look to the tortilla- what ever she did to it- it was magical🥂 A side of sour cream is served along with it as well awesomely impressive homemade red salsa too. Ari seriouly delivers on her Mac n Cheese Burrito! Okkkk, so her tacos comes in 3's and is packed with that same delicious beef, tasty jalepanos, melted cheese, pickled red onions on top, and some lettuce in side to boot. Wow- her tacos rockos! For me, ordering the burrito and the 3 tacos was the perfect amount of food for a big guy like myself with 5 beers. Prices are decent, not too expensive but I piged out so my bill was a tad high 😅 every dime was worth every bite. I'm coming back! Recap: 5 pale ales 1 Mac n cheese beef burrito 3 beef tacos I undoubtedly will be back, I reccomend that you take my reccomendation and EAT HERE! When you come, say hi to Ari and tell her Ken Sent you🙏 Blessings,

Bitsy is one of my favorite spots in UB! The atmosphere is cozy and modern, making it a great place to relax, catch up with friends or network. The drinks are consistently high quality. You can ask for any drink even if it’s not in the menu Staff are friendly, attentive, and speak great English, which is a huge plus for travelers. They open early morning as a coffee shop and close late as a bar. Whichever evening you come, it’s always full. In summer they open the terrace, in winter it’s worse.

It’s a very small but cute place. You shouldn’t visit with a large group—2 to 3 people is ideal because of the limited space. It’s located inside the mall. Their cocktails are good and highly recommended.

Nestled in the heart of Ulaanbaatar, Khaan Deli Central Cafe and Specialty Store is a charming spot that offers a delightful blend of American-style breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Located conveniently next to the Russian Embassy, this cozy cafe serves up hearty meals alongside an array of snacks and beverages. While their pancakes may not hit the mark for everyone—some find them lacking in flavor—the overall experience is warm and inviting.
My favorite restraunt in UB. Simple diner atmosphere but with excellent American dishes. Think Seinfeld coffee shop.
Colten W — Google review
I like Khaan Deli, good place for dinner, snacks, hot and cold drinks. But when it comes to breakfast I can not recommend the pancakes. Chocolate pancakes hardly have any chocolate in it, and they only pour a few lines of liquid chocolate sauce on it which won't make it even better. The apple cinnamon pancakes have some apple bits in it, but it actually doesn't taste anymore like apple because I'd say it's in inlaid in too much sugar probably which kills the spirit taste of the apple. What's definitely missing is the option of getting fresh fruit. Nothing too fancy, orange apple kiwi pineapple banana that's it. I'm more the guy who likes a sweet and fruity breakfast. Maybe use less sugar in some of your sweet dishes Anyway my favorite dish is the BLT Sandwich, the hot drinks like red currant and hot chocolate are nice. Staff is very nice, sometimes doesn't understand what you want but pretend they did. I asked for cheesecake but the waitress said there is no, but when you I to walk past the fridge I found out they had chocolate cheesecake but she didn't offered me. Keep on going the way you do Khaan Deli!

Nestled on the first floor of the Tuushin Hotel, Le Cabernet coffee lounge offers a delightful blend of cozy ambiance and culinary charm. This inviting spot doubles as a restaurant, attracting a diverse clientele thanks to its prime location. Guests rave about the mouthwatering baked cheesecake that keeps them coming back for more! The coffee selection is equally impressive, making it a perfect place to unwind.
It is located on the 1st floor of Tuushin hotel. It can also be used as a restaurant. Because of the location, it has good clientele and the atmosphere is very cozy. The baked cheese cake is so delectable that I want to come here again! Coffees are good. If I say a bad point, seats by the window and near the entrance are cold. Probably it’s for hotel clients and chatting, so I don’t recommend for work use. (Almost all of seats have no electrical outlet.)

Service was terrible and slow. After a half an hour, I asked the staff when my drink was coming and she said soon. Then nothing. I thought it was coming from upstairs so I waited. Another 15m later she didn't make it so I asked again . Then she started to make it but stopped to do something at the register. I finally just canceled. I normally wouldn't but I told her we had a plane to catch and she didn't seem to care. Her English was good so that's not the issue. When the food finally came the male staff member couldn't be bothered to move the center items but pushed the giant beef pastry into my fork that was on my plate. The beef inside the pastry shell was dry and hard. So much for Mongolian hospitality.

Located on the ground floor of the Tuushin Hotel. No charging outlets available, not sure about Wi-Fi. Beverages and cake were not bad. Good place for business meetings, talking with friends or reading books I think. Hope the correct information will be written.

Bibi's Creamery is a delightful destination for ice cream lovers seeking a healthier option. This charming spot specializes in crafting their creamy treats using only real and natural ingredients, ensuring that every scoop is both delicious and wholesome. The process begins with the simple art of making zookhii, or cream, by allowing milk to curdle naturally before skimming off the rich cream. This cream is then expertly churned to create a smooth texture that elevates their ice creams to new heights.
