Hotel
Casa de las Tías is a charming bed and breakfast nestled in San Jose, boasting beautiful gardens and a serene atmosphere. The property offers complimentary daily American breakfast, along with free Wi-Fi and convenient on-site parking. The well-appointed rooms are adorned with vibrant decor, each equipped with a wardrobe and private bathroom. Situated in Escazu, this hidden gem provides easy access to several top-notch restaurants, a bank, and a well-stocked supermarket within walking distance.
We first stayed here 12 years ago and then enjoyed a one night stay on 4/25/24. Very comfortable and pretty B&B with wonderful hosts (Javier & Pilar). It is an oasis away from the hustle and bustle of Escazu while still being in the midst of the city. They serve a delicious breakfast between 8-9 - don't miss it!
K. S — Google review
I loved my stay at Casa de las Tías. It is exactly what I want in a B&B. Xavier and Pilar were warm and helpful hosts with a beautiful home that was uniquely and thoughtfully decorated. I loved all the communal spaces and the friendly atmosphere that encourages speaking with the other guests. Pilar even made me a special breakfast because I was allergic to what she was serving everyone else that day, and it was delicious!!! I also had a late flight, and since they did not have anyone new checking in, they offered me use of the room until I left. While I had no particular love of the city of San Jose, I absolutely want to stay here again. It felt like a refuge from the chaos of the city and the perfect place to rest after 2 weeks of adventure.

Casa de las Tias is a gem! We start and end each of our trips to Costa Rica at this oasis of peace and calm in Escazu. I has an ideal location that is a 5 to 10 minute walk from at least five excellent restaurants, as well as a bank and the best stocked super market in the country. Tucked down a small road from the main intersection in Escazu, Casa las Tias has its own gardens and a Cape Cod Gingerbroad house with excellent rooms and an amazing breakfast on the patio with the flowers and birds. Xavier and Pilar are the most helpful hosts anywhere. This is a truly wonderful place to stay--a short ride from the airport (they arrange to have you picked up) and to downtown San Jose. My wife and I give it our very highest recommendation!
Richard W — Google review
We recently stayed here to start our adventure. This beautiful place has a life of its own. Truly a hidden gem. Pilar and Xavier are so welcoming and helpful! The breakfast and coffee was amazing! The inside was stunning with art pieces at every turn. The place was so clean it shined! The grounds were gorgeous with so many beautiful plants. This will definitely be on our list of places to return to.

Dental vacation Made special through my stay at this wonderful B&B I will try not to be repetitious but let me confirm that the positive reviews certainly matched my experience. I had a wonderful dental experience here in Costa Rica at half the price of what I would’ve paid in the states. (You can see my post for Nova dental on the forum). If you want a generic hotel experience than this is not for you. However if you want a charming and unique place to stay that will connect you with the people, food , friendliness and hospitality of this country than I highly recommend to stay here. It feels as if you were staying with friends and yet your privacy and boundaries are completely Respected. The breakfast and the coffee was exceptional. My room was comfortable and cozy and a delight. The staff so friendly and helpful. And the place is absolutely spotless. I walked around barefoot which I never do. The hosts Xavier and Pilar Were such a pleasure. Made me feel so comfortable. I hope to return anytime I am in San Jose
Kenneth V — Google review
This was a one of a kind experience at the end of a long week in Costa Rica. The owners of this property, as well as her staff, were some of the nicest and caring individuals. From even before I arrived, I felt completely taken care of. When I arrived, I was given a tour of the house and garden spaces, shown my room and all amenities, and I was even asked about my dietary restrictions for breakfast the next morning. Our host, Pilar, gave us wonderful suggestions of where to eat around the neighborhood, and great instructions on how to walk or taxi/uber to these locations. I felt so safe in this phenomenal neighborhood and casa, and cannot wait to return! The house is just under 30 minutes driving from the airport (even with traffic), which was wonderful for traveling the next day. The garden and porches are so large that you don't even feel you are in this big city. It was quiet and wonderful. Just what I needed before a big day of travel. Thank you so much Pilar for such a wonderful stay. See you again soon, I'm sure!

Wonderful house with beautiful interior and garden. I had the room with balcony which was a great choice for relaxation :-) The hosts were super friendly, offered a delicious breakfast and gave advice on my day planning. Very good place to start your Costa Rica Journey!
Maximilian S — Google review
What a lovely place! We stayed here at the beginning and end of our trip to Costa Rica and couldn't recommend it more. It is impeccably clean, with a great shower with good water pressure and a delicious home made breakfast. Our favorite part were the hosts, Pilar and Javier, who were so welcoming, helped us plan the rest of our trip in Costa Rica, kept a bag for us while we were out and about, and were just overall wonderful to talk to. Pura vida!

Hotel
Cariari Bed and Breakfast is a cozy guest house located in Costa Rica, offering three comfortable rooms with private bathrooms and a beautiful garden. The property provides stunning views of the Cariari Country Club, creating a serene atmosphere for guests. Each morning, visitors are greeted with the delightful aroma of freshly baked banana bread and coffee, accompanied by the sounds of exotic birds.
We had a great experience staying for two nights at Cariari B&B. It was easily accessible between the city and airport, located in a beautiful golf course community. The room was clean, spacious, with a beautiful backyard surrounded by fruit trees and birds. The staff waited for us when we got there close to midnight due to late flight. The breakfast was delicious, with fruits grown on their own trees. Most amazing was the host Laurie, treating us as friends, sharing her inspiring life experiences with us, and making our first stop in Costa Rica just that more memorable. Highly recommend.
Lubo L — Google review
A wonderful oasis and gracious hots and staff! We arrived after midnight and were welcomed by the owner’s son. The next morning we enjoyed a tasty communal breakfast with interesting guests and then the owner gave us a free lift to pick up our rental car. Thanks for the stay and hospitality!!
John M — Google review
What an incredible experience we had at Laurie's bed & breakfast. Laurie was so helpful and knowledgeable about everything! and helped us to customize our time in Costa Rica. She had great suggestions on where to go, what to do, and places to eat and we enjoyed all of it!!! She definitely made our trip memorable. She is a very gracious and welcoming host. She and Miriam made us the most delicious breakfasts daily, I especially loved the pineapple pancakes, as well as a yummy snack when we arrived! They were truly there to take care of our every need and it was much appreciated! Miriam is an angel and the sweetest lady ever! Such a great experience! Cant wait to go back and see more of Costa Rica and see Laurie & Miriam again!

Perfect for staying the night after the flight. Very hospitable owner, great breakfast. The house looks amazing.
Kubik S — Google review
Worth every penny. So accommodating of our needs. Nestled in Greenery and flowers. Excellent breakfast, too.
Dennis H — Google review
Laurie from Cariari Bed and Breakfast is simply amazing! While we did not have the opportunity to meet in person due to weather delays and a cancelled flight; all of our communications were pleasant and professional. Weeks leading up to our honeymoon, I communicated with Laurie regarding transportation needs and requests. The day of our flight, we kept her informed of our ever-changing flight status that ultimately was cancelled. She even bought us a pizza because we were supposed to arrive well past midnight when everything would be closed. When we plan our next Costa Rica vacation, we will definitely be staying at her B&B because her service was incredible...and we weren't even able to stay there! I HIGHLY recommend the Cariari Bed and Breakfast!
Gabrielle M — Google review
We had a fantastic stay with Laurie at Cariari B & B. Our trip to Costa Rica was fabulous because Laurie served as such a knowledgeable guide to help us visit the places we wanted to see and advise of other great ideas. Much of our trip was arranged with her beforehand and we would stay at her lovely comfortable place for a day or 2 at a time and then off we would go on another adventure for a few days. It was like coming home to come back to Cariari B & B in between sightseeing and trips. And the breakfast prepared each morning by Miriam was delicious! Laurie knows so many people in the travel industry and was able to call and make arrangements for us. She helped arrange a rental car when we needed it so that we wouldn't get taken like so many of the stories we heard. And at other times she would arrange a driver to take us when it was advised that it would be faster and easier. She would get us terrific rates at different resorts & hotels. We are so grateful that found Laurie and Cariari B & B and highly recommend her!!
Brian P — Google review
We have been to Laurie’s Cariari B&B several times. We stay in the largest room with a king sized, comfortable bed and large bathroom with access to a huge patio where we relax. The location is great and the house is very large and very well maintained. The best part is Laurie. She takes care of us like no other host. The breakfasts are huge and delicious, she has us join her for afternoon wine with her friends, she’s taken us around the community to see the sights and advises us expertly on what to see in the area. I am sure there is no better B&B in the San José area. 6 stars!!

Hotel
Hotel Aranjuez is a charming B&B located in Barrio Aranjuez, a historic residential neighborhood just 15 minutes from downtown San Jose. The hotel occupies a complex of wooden houses and offers unfussy yet cozy quarters with unique rooms due to its conversion from six row houses. It's known for its affordable prices, generous buffet breakfast served in the sunken inner garden, and relaxed sitting areas.
Great breakfast, unique hotel, good price. Stayed on two occasions. I'm very picky about beds, and one of the beds was super comfy and one not quite so comfy.
Spa M — Google review
This is a really quirky hotel and the staff were very helpful. Has a real feel of being in the countryside despite being in the heart of town. The breakfast was good with lots of choice, you have to get a breakfast ticket from reception at 8am to take to the breakfast room. The rooms were adequate but there wasn't a lot of soap provided. The bed was really comfy but if you are a light sleeper make sure you have earplugs as it was very noisy. Our room (31) opened onto the courtyard and we could hear every word from the reception when people were checking in at all times of the day and night. Luckily the bar which was also in the courtyard was closed the whole time we were there otherwise it would have been even noisier.
Christine W — Google review
The front desk was not prepared for our early. The way its built you are inside but it had beautiful trees that are open to outside inside the building. Mosquitoes are very very aggressive. Every room, shower and ceiling fan or lack thereof is different. Some doors are made a little different. There is no pool. Apparently in costa rica there are no wash cloths so bring your own or some disposable ones. There are no tvs in some rooms either. The breakfast is ok. Nothing is really close per say. You will need to uber or walk 15-20min. Stop signs in that area are mere suggestions. Friendliness is not really existent. There's not water fountain or snacks for free or available for purchase so bring your own. There is a restaurant inside the hotel. A tad pricey but good.
Derryl W — Google review
Staying at Aranjuez Hotel in San José was an extremely disappointing experience, marked by disorganization, poor customer service, and a level of service far below expectations. We had chosen this hotel expecting a comfortable stay, but the reality was completely different. The check-in process was a complete disaster. The staff was rude and inefficient, especially a tall, thin man with glasses who made us wait for 40 minutes, repeatedly saying that our room would be ready “in 10 minutes.” In the end, we only got access to our room at 2:45 PM, well past the expected time. During the wait, no one even offered to store our luggage at the reception, showing a total lack of attention to guests. The biggest disappointment was discovering that our room was not inside the hotel, as indicated at the time of booking, but in a separate building that looked more like a hospital than a hotel. The room, while not old or dirty, was far from welcoming and did not match our expectations at all. The soundproofing was terrible: we couldn’t sleep all night due to the noise coming from the neighboring room. Additionally, since we were in a separate building, it was impossible to communicate with the reception in case of any issues, making our stay even more frustrating. The bathroom was also very disappointing: the sink was broken, the shower had visible mold, and the hot water was barely existent, with extremely low water pressure. To make matters worse, when we asked for directions to the city center, the staff provided very vague and unhelpful information, as if they were annoyed by our questions. The only positive aspect of our stay was the breakfast, which was served in the hotel’s garden—a pleasant and well-maintained setting. Unfortunately, this was not enough to make up for all the other issues we encountered. In summary, a completely unsatisfactory stay, far from what we expected. We had booked a hotel room but ended up in an external apartment with numerous inconveniences. Poor service and zero attention to guests. We do not recommend this hotel at all!

☆ historic building, cosy rooms ☆ Excellent breakfast buffet in the jungle garden (moths, squirrels, and hummingbirds come to visit) ☆ Very friendly staff! ☆ 15 minutes from the center

Very quirky hotel full of character. Positives...... Nice garden. Good breakfast. Great location. Bars and restaurants nearby in barrio, 15 mibs walk away max. Quirky decor in hotel and rooms. Negatives...... small uncomfortable bed. Shower was appalling. Noisy room next to reception.
Sally — Google review
It has been the 4. time that we came here for the first night of our Costa Rica-Stay! It‘s always the best decision to stay here because the hotel is close enough to San Jose but has also enough distance to have a quiet and calm night. The breakfast is the highlight of our stay: many fresh fruits and a view of squirrels in the garden of the hotel! We recommend this hotel very much because it‘s a place with a lot of nature and authenticity in the city San José! We will come again if we visit Costa Rica in a few years again:)
Alice W — Google review
What a quirky, unusual hotel! A little bit magical. Small hallways in every direction, partial gardens, unexpected rooms...and everything with a consistent decor of very colorful local folk art, mainly carved masks with torsos covered in gowns! Various sizes. So cool! The hotel is very clean, staff friendly, informal. Breakfast was a plentiful buffet. Highly recommended to those who like a diversion from all the chain hotels (ugh!).

Casa 69 San José is a vibrant bed-and-breakfast located in the heart of San Jose, Costa Rica. The hotel offers relaxed rooms with free WiFi and is within close proximity to attractions such as Sabana Park and the National Stadium of Costa Rica. Guests can enjoy the rooftop terrace and garden patio while taking in the views of the city. The hotel also provides amenities like tour assistance and a convenience store for guests' needs.
We recently visited Costa Rica and stayed at Casa 69 in San Jose. The service from all the staff was amazing, they went out of their way to make us feel welcome and treat us like family. Special thanks to Winston and Enrique (Edgar) they made our stay extra special! Good breakfast, clean rooms very quaint lobby area. I would definitely stay here again . The staff make this place extra special. Good location, Great RESTAURANTS nearby

Lovely hotel! The rooms had a nice decor to them, and were spacious. Plenty for 4 people. Beds were large and comfortable. Delicious, homemade breakfast was served in the morning. The people working here are very friendly and easy to talk to. They will help you with anything you need. Make sure to also pet the dog in the reception! The location is decent, 15 minute walk to downtown. The only small complaint I have is the parking. It was difficult to find it, and it’s room for 2 cars. Like a driveway, if one car has to leave earlier than the other, you may have to flip the cars, so id suggest looking for a different parking location. Otherwise, I highly recommend this hotel!
Dima S — Google review
Amazing friendly welcoming hostel. Bring earplugs as it’s somewhat loud during the night because of proximity to the train tracks - but that’s just part of staying in a city! Lovely light airy breakfast area. The staff make this hostel special.
Shoreham H — Google review
I’ve never experienced such a welcoming hotel as Casa 69 in San José. From the moment I arrived, it felt like stepping into someone’s beautiful home rather than a hotel. The decor is charming and inviting, everything was spotlessly clean, and the bed was unbelievably comfortable. Breakfast was delicious and such a wonderful way to start the day. What truly made my stay special was the staff – warm, hospitable, and genuinely caring. They went above and beyond to make me feel at home, and I only wish I could have stayed longer. If I could give Casa 69 six stars, I absolutely would. I can’t recommend it highly enough to anyone visiting San José!
Jenny ( — Google review
At Casa 69 we found a place that was comfortable in every corner, with a terrace that has a great view of San Jose, a breakfast for champions and very well decorated rooms. But most importantly Kurt, Winston, Enrique, Reynaldo and the rest of the staff made us feel like home. Our five days were amazing! I recommend it and will return soon.
Augusto O — Google review
We really enjoyed spending the night in this hotel when landing at San Jose before starting our trip in Costa Rica. The room was spacious, beds comfortable, and above all very quiet. After a perfect 9h sleep night we could enjoy the amazing breakfast with fresh juice, local fruits, home made jams, bread from the oven and local recipes of eggs. Definitely a great stay ! The evening upon arrival we could have dinner in a very nice Peruvian restaurant located just 50m away for the hotel. Very convenient and very nice

Extremely friendly staffs, really well talking care of guests. I had mismanaged my reservation and overstayed without knowing. the manager had been understanding and handled my mistake so elegantly and professionally. It was embarrassing for me, while the hotel manager had handled the situation extremely well which made me feel welcomed and appreciated. Personally i have never been more appreciated and welcomed. Would love to stay in touch and visit again.

Nice room for the money. Excellent location if you have an appointment at Hospital Mexico or immigration. Liked · If you are in San Jose to go to Hospital Mexico or to go to immigration, this hotel is ideally located. It is not near the center of town for shopping or restaurants but Uber is cheap and easy to get around with. The money you save by staying here easily covers the cost of that and the hotel itself is clean and offers nice sized comfortable rooms. The Wi-Fi works well and there is plenty of hot water in the shower. I would stay there again.

Beautiful Hotel, wish we could have stayed longer. We stayed for one night before we needed to head to the airport. We even got an upgrade of the room with direct access to the pool! Would totally recommend if you wanna spend one or two nights after your Costa Rica Trip! Awesome view over San Jose. Special Thanks to Fernando, who was very welcoming and nice. Pura Vida!

It is a very nice, small place to stay in the city. It features a great view of the city, has a nice lobby, and the breakfast is delicious. The shower could have been cleaner and better maintained. The room itself was very spacious. The bed was very comfortable.

We stayed here for two nights. Customer service was excellent; we needed a taxi for the airport at 3am and they set up a good transfer for a reasonable price. The view over the city is beautiful. There are numerous friendly cats living on the property. Private parking for the car. The room did not have aircon but that didn’t matter too much for us. There was a ceiling fan but it wasn’t strong. Regardless, the room was cool when we were there and we slept very well.

If you need a place to flop on a budget in San Jose on your way in our out of town this place is your spot. Arrived late, rang the bell tired from 18 hours of traveling.. was checked in and in a nice shower and clean bed in under 20 min. The place is an old villa over looking the city. The pool views are stunning and give you that villa vibe. Don’t expect any frills or extras again it’s a cheaper option but for the money it’s definitely worth every cent.

We only stayed for a night, but youcannot beat the excellent value of this hotel. The rooms are simple but comfortable, and there is a lovely common area with an excellent view of San Jose. There is also a delicious free breakfast included!

I had booked a stay here with my friend and had a delayed flight that ended up getting me there the next after my booking. They also didn’t have any other rooms so I had to go to a different hotel - in any of my experiences of staying at a hotel they would accommodate me on something liked this but this hotel wouldn’t give me a refund or even a discount. I even had Expedia reach out (they were very helpful) and the hotel wouldn’t not accommodate me so I will say service here is bad.

Absolutely loved this place. We spent the first two nights of our honeymoon here after flying in to San Jose. From the airport, it took about 50 minutes in rush hour traffic to get there (5pm), but definitely worth it. Incredible view with a lovely garden. The grounds as a whole was well maintained and very homey feeling. There are sweet cats and a friendly dog! The breakfast was amazing both times and honestly have been my favorite I have had in CR thus far. The staff was VERY helpful for local tips and very accommodating. 10/10 love this place!

Hotel Sura in San Jose is a modest 2-star hotel located near popular attractions like the Pre-Columbian Gold Museum and the National Theatre of Costa Rica. The hotel offers cozy rooms with amenities such as free Wi-Fi, parking, and a shared kitchen. Guests have praised the cleanliness of the rooms and the helpfulness of the staff. The hotel provides homemade breakfast, laundry services for a fee, and clean drinking water. Some rooms feature balconies or access to a common sitting area.
Good choice for the price! Stayed one night after flying they organised me a pick up which made the arrival very pleasant! Area seems fine with small supermarket and couple restaurants a minute away! Good breakfast of rice beans and egg, tea and coffee included! Would stay agin if passing through as great access to bus stations

Nicer old hotel, could use a bit of maintenance, but what low budget hotel can't. Room was clean, small but sufficient. Service is friendly and helpful. Will stay here again if I ever take the Palmotin bus to Liberia as the location is great. Oh ya the breakfast (Tico) was very filling and good.

Think twice before booking at this hotel, there are plenty of other similarly priced options in the same neighborhood. We arranged for an airport pickup with the hotel. When we landed there was no one waiting for us. We walked up and down the long row of taxi drivers searching in vain for the one holding our name, only to eventually have to hire our own taxi. The hotel manager and employee both apologized, claiming some mix up about the date. We were shown to our room, it was a bit heavy on the wood aesthetic, but it was fine. The tv remote didn’t work to turn the tv on and off, but once it was on it worked to navigate the German Netflix account that was signed in. The bathroom was very mildewy and to say that the toilet paper was thin is an understatement. This has to be the loudest place in San Jose, and we’ve stayed at a lot of spots. There was CONSTANT cat fights on our balcony. The banging of plastic partitions sounded like fireworks going off ALL NIGHT. The breakfast was eggs and pinto and coffee. We sat at the only clean table and ate with frowns. We asked for a little milk for our coffee, and we were told very smugly: “we don’t have it” Bottom line: this place was not good. The WiFi seemed average though.

Had a really sweet stay here when my hostel was overbooked! They accommodated me for a late night arrival, it was almost midnight when I got there. I had a private room with a nice shower and bathroom set up. The staff was very helpful in giving me directions to find a place where I could get phone service. Great location close to the bus (short Uber or long walk) and breakfast in the morning was delicious.

We enjoyed our stay, the hotel has some rooms with a small balcony and some have an external common sitting area. The hotel has character but they are a little dated. The premises are clean and the staff are friendly but have very little english. Eggs with beans and rice with coffee or tea served daily. Quiet neighborhood and close to central. The bad: Paid cash on 2 different stays, they never have change and never repay. I prefer to tip on my own volition not by keeping my change.

My partner and I stayed just one night but loved our time at Sura Hotel. Everything was clean and cozy, and the staff were very helpful and friendly. Private and safe parking, homemade breakfast was provided, clean drinking water available, and laundry services were also available (for a small charge). The location felt very safe with restaurants and stores in walkable distance, and we loved the outdoor space and balcony. It felt like we had been welcomed into someone’s home and we were well taken care of.

Sedat, the owner was extremely helpful and professional anytime I spoke with him throughout the booking process. I booked the car service from the airport and the driver was a delight. Everyone that I interacted with was very helpful and breakfast was delicious. Most of the staff speak only Spanish, to be expected, but always were welcoming with a smile. The little cat on-site was adorable and everything was very clean. You are about a twenty minute walk to downtown proper and there are many restaurants and shops within just a few minutes. I recommend anyone coming into San Jose to stay here!

Casa Lima B&B is a vibrant and colorful accommodation located in the capital city of San Jose. Nestled in the unique upmarket neighborhood of Rohrmoser, this boutique B&B offers 23 private oasis rooms and apartments, each adorned with tropical decor and equipped with convenient amenities like fridges. The courtyard garden, featuring art and animals, is a highlight of this hidden wonder.
Case Lima B&B is a hidden gem within the city of San Jose. The tranquil environment created here is second to none. Having breakfast with waterfall sounds in the background along with the tropical plants is serene. Nelson is a phenomenal host who went above and beyond to ensure we had the best experience in Costa Rica. That's not coming from an inexperienced traveler. I have been traveling for over 20 years, 5 continents, and over 10 countries with multiple visits to many. This place exceeded all my expectations and I can see how this business is thriving and will only do better in the future. My mobility scooter was damaged by the airline while coming to Costa Rica and it was a big issue, to say the least. My wife and I tried to find tools and such on our own but had no luck. After talking to Nelson about it, he took it upon himself and proceeded to fix it during our breakfast no less. During our breakfast, of the best banana pancakes we have ever had in our lives, he succeeded with the scooter. The scooter was running and he did an amazing job of securing things to make sure it didn't happen again. It was never his problem and he would have been an incredible host without doing so, but he still went out of his way for us. He saved our trip in more ways than one. We will definitely stay again and even if they were full we would visit just to see him, the amazing lobby, and to have breakfast. I would recommend 10 out of 10 to anyone.

We got to the hotel an hour late because our flight was delayed. They gave our room away. We booked 2 rooms. 1 for me and 1 for my friend and her daughter. Instead we got a room with 2 beds. The safe didn't work, the air-conditioning didn't work, and we had a giant hole in the ceiling in our shower. The next morning we went down for the "complimentary" breakfast. It only included coffee, juice, rolls, and fruit. Anything else had to be paid for. When we asked about a parcial refund for the room he told us all the rooms all cost the same amount. We looked it up online they lied the rooms do cost different prices. One day when we got back to the room it was obvious someone had been in our room. The TV was on and the toilet seat was up. After putting the "please clean" sign up for 2 days without the room being cleaned we spoke with the manger who told us we had to tell them if we wanted the room cleaned. I've stayed in cheap hotels before but never anything this bad. I'm not sure how they got 4.5 stars. The only positive is the staff was friendly.
Sara N — Google review
the rooms were filthy. i don’t think they even change the sheets in between guests. when we arrived, the room we received had bugs in the sheets. water was always cold. there was bugs in every room, mine had ants and my friends had spiders. my friends room was covered in spider webs, they very clearly hadn’t cleaned it. breakfast was just fruit and rolls, nothing special. it was one of the worst stays i’ve ever had. the only positive was AC works well and staff is nice. spend a little more to stay somewhere that actually cleans their rooms.
Cherie W — Google review
We recently stayed at Casa Lima and really wanted to love it. The location was great, off the main road, not too far from the airport, yet in walking distance to great restaurants and an excellent farmers market that we stumbled upon. The staff was EXCELLENT! Friendly, offering suggestions for restaurants and a route for a road trip. The small garden and dining area were adorable. The problem was our rooms. We had a room with an attached 2nd bedroom. Both A/C units were barely working and it was HOT. The gentleman at the desk was apologetic and gave us a fan to help circulate the air. Unfortunately apparently there was not another room to move to. It was very uncomfortable. The rooms were dingy in much need of a fresh coat of paint. There were water stains on the lamp shades. Both shower doors were hanging off the tracks. A window pane was completely missing from one of the bathroom windows. Fortunately we had only one night as a layover. We had a 2nd night booked for our final layover which we cancelled and found a much nicer place for the same amount. This was our most expensive stay and the least desirable. I give 5 stars for the staff, 5 stars for the dining garden area, and 1 for the room.
Carrie H — Google review
This place is absolutely disgusting!!! Do not spend your money here!!!!! The only reason I’m giving it one star is because google wont let me go any lower. Let’s start from the top shall we? 1. Our friends paid for an apartment with two bedrooms. Because we got to the hotel late due to our flight being delayed, they gave away their room. Even though we booked our rooms over 6 months ago. They gave my friends a 1 bedroom apartment for 3 people… nice. They also lied and told them that there was no price difference between a one bedroom and a two bedroom when they asked for a partial refund (the website clearly has them as separate prices). Very professional. We ended up taking our frustration out on the couple that took their room when really we should have put the blame on the “hotel” . 2. The WiFi for the room only works if you keep your phone right next to the FREE-HANGING ROUTER THATS DANGLING BY CABLES NEAR THE FRONT DOOR TO THE ROOM!!! Seriously??? 3. The floor is warped because they put hardwood flooring right on top of the concrete slab. So every step you take on the hardwood feels like you’re going to fall into a crater. 4. Not only is the flooring messed up, they didn’t install trim on the side of the hardwood where it meets the wall. So bugs got in every night. Spiders and roaches. Gross! 5. The floor is rotting in the corners. 6. This place is a huge fire hazard! There’s a live exposed wire above the shower that powers the shower head. Not grounded, just exposed. Very safe Casa Lima….. I wonder how many people have gotten hurt by this lack of safety… 7. The toilet didn’t work. I contacted the waitstaff via WhatsApp and in person to please address this. They said they did but did not. And when I reached out again, no response. I ended up fixing myself each time anyone had to flush. Didn’t realize I needed to be a plumber in my vacation… 8. Speaking of the bathroom, there’s black mold behind the toilet!!! I know I may sound like an arrogant American tourist but that’s incredibly dangerous for anyone! 9. The safe was not working. I didn’t bother addressing this with the staff after the other issues I brought up because I knew it wouldn’t be addressed even if I did. Whatever. 10. No hot water in the shower. Hope you like freezing cold showers while you’re taking them with the spiders and roaches in the bathroom. The only saving grace of this place is that it’s close enough to downtown San Jose. You can get into the city for all the great things San Jose has to offer pretty quickly via car. I absolutely loved the attractions and things my family and friends saw in CR but the hotel stay seriously brought down the mood of the vacation. Do yourself a favor. Stay far away from this place. Don’t make the mistake we did.
Pranab R — Google review
Cute hotel, can't beat the price, close to the airport. Staff are super friendly. There is no hot-water, which is pretty normal in CR. Also, after staying there we found out it is technically in a bad neighborhood.
Danny L — Google review
They gave away our travel companions room and then lied and said there wasn’t a price difference (there is. We paid for a two bedroom and they gave us one). There were exposed wires, spotty WiFi, bugs in the room, giant hole in the ceiling, no hot water and don’t expect staff to address anything. Don’t stay here.

This place is awesome. We're travelling on motorbikes and needed somewhere not crazy expensive to stay the night in San Jose - not an easy ask in Costa Rica! They've just opened so not many reviews yet so I'm happy to add mine. This is perfect for the budget traveller who doesn't compromise on having a fresh, clean and safe place to stay. The rooms, the kitchen, the bathroom are decorated nicely, fully equipped and very clean. Hot water, fast wifi, great location close to restaurants. Ever, the proprietor, is an awesome guy too. He gave us lots of great information to help us plan our ride to the coast. Thanks again Ever!

Guests can enjoy complimentary Wi-Fi while soaking in stunning mountain views.
The rooms were clean, with vaulted ceilings and plenty of space! The location was perfect for a one night stay. My boyfriend and I checked in around 5pm after arriving and drove to La Fortuna the next day. I’m not sure how it would be if you’re planning to explore San Jose. It was a safe neighborhood and had restaurants and super markets within walking distance. Otto was such a great host! I would give more than 5 stars if I could! Very accommodating and super nice. Breakfast was so good I would recommend including that. The property was very peaceful and paintings were gorgeous!

I'm between 3 and 4 stars. The owners were nice and responsive. I confidently booked, needs were mostly met for all aspects. Location relative to San Jose generally was good, if on a noisy road. Mostly quiet at night which helped. Decent breakfast in nice courtyard. Clean rooms. What was an issue was the room we got which looked great. But the bathroom has no sufficient curtains to ensure people can't just look right in on ground floor, clear sight of shower and toilet! And the people above moved around for hours for some unknown reason, truly stomping and though I sleep very well, I was startled awake multiple times. Maybe owners can tell occupants to tread quietly above and take care not stomp with the heals! Otherwise it's a great spot and works.

This BnB is such a gem and reasonably priced! We came from the U.S. for dental work in San Jose, and were very well taken care of by proprietors Barbara and Otto and their staff. The room was spacious and clean, the big bed comfortable, the internet as fast as it is at home, and the breakfast was tailored to our needs! Lots of good suggestions and help getting where we needed to go (Nova Dental Clinic, mostly!). Excellent shower, lots of hot water, plenty of electric plugs - the house has historic features, and has been very well updated - a great combination. Yes, there's a bit of road traffic noise during the day, but not too bad, and none at night.

I loved this place! It was recommended by a friend who is local and it did not disappoint! Excellent value for the price. And you can really tell that the owners and staff care that you have a nice experience. The included breakfast is quite generous with tongues of fresh fruits available and even juices incredibly comfortable like sinking into a cloud and you could tell that the mattresses. Had lots of pillow options in my room, which is very nice and even extra blankets in closet, which is always nice touch. There was great hot water in the shower and the top water was springwater completely safe for drinking. I was only here for one night before flying out, but I definitely able to stay there again. And if you eat at the restaurant I can vouch for the tuna poke bowl And the hamburger was absolutely gourmet!

My wife and I stayed here on the first two nights of our honeymoon, and we deliberately sought it out as a locally owned hotel near SJO. On our flights over to Costa Rica from the US, we ran into issues that caused us to be significantly delayed. One of the many stressors of that was missing our airport shuttle that Adventure Inn had arranged for us. We reached out to them on Whatsapp and they were very responsive and reassuring and gave us clear instructions on what to do when we arrived to find our shuttle. It all ended up working out thanks to those instructions. When we arrived to the hotel, we were greeted by Eric who couldn't have been friendlier. He made sure we were all set for our stay and made sure we had a to-go breakfast for our early morning tour the next day. The hotel itself is beautiful. We especially loved all of the vibrant murals that decorated the walls. It seemed like in every corner of the hotel there was something cool to see. We ate three times at the restaurant (two dinners and breakfast) and really enjoyed all the meals. We especially enjoyed Pablo who served us twice and was really enjoyable to chat with and very forgiving and kind about my poor Spanish. We also hung out in the hot tub one night and it was extremely pleasant to unwind there after the day with a cold beer. Our room was perfect with AC and a fan, and I really appreciated the signs in the room encouraging you to conserve energy where you can. Our checkout process was also very smooth and there was a taxi waiting for us as scheduled. Our taxi driver was also very nice. :) It was really a great place to stay, and I highly recommend it over any chain.

We used Adventure Inn as a jumping off point for our Costa Rica adventure, and we could not have been more pleased with the decision. The shuttle service to/from the airport was prompt and efficient. The rooms (jacuzzi) were lovely with an excellent cross breeze, and the hot tub was a fabulous way to unwind after a busy day of travel. The food at the restaurant was tasty. But what truly set this place apart for us was the customized travel planning support we received from Loren at the Adventure Inn. She helped us coordinate everything from private transportation to excursions. Her professionalism and expertise were greatly appreciated, and we would recommend this hotel and her trip planning services in particular very highly.

This place is AWESOME!! The customer service is really great. The hotel staff and the security guard were so sweet. The place is super charming and authentic and was just the spot we needed when going to a new place. Breakfast is free and the shuttle to and from the airport is so convenient. I cannot recommend this place enough.

I've stayed here twice over the past two months, and am already hoping for an excuse to return to Costa Rica to visit again. Adventure Inn feels like the real, authentic, beautiful Costa Rica that I fell in love with in the 90's, but with all of the modern conveniences of 2025. Beautiful Tico smiles and gracious hospitality abound, rooms are squeaky clean, beds are comfortable, the free breakfast is as good as anywhere in the country, the pool area offers solitude, and the restaurant is fabulous and reasonable. Thank you, Adventure Inn, for being the perfect place for R & R.

We contacted the hotel, they found it, and are shipping it back to us.

We stayed 2 nights at Adventure Inn when we arrived in San Jose, and then stayed another night at the end of our Costa Rica Vacation. The staff was extremely courteous and helpful. The hotel is close to the airport, so it is an easy place to regroup on arrival in country. Free shuttle to and from the airport. Room price included a choice of hot breakfast. They had an excellent restaurant on site with full bar. The pool was pretty and the hot tub was welcome. A thousand thanks to Loren, an employee who went above and beyond to arrange our entire CR vacation, including stops at Braulio Carillo (aerial tram and guided nature walk), Proyecto Asis (animal rehabilitation center where we got to weigh food and assemble enrichment food toys for the animals -- kids loved it), and tour at Doka coffee growers and Baldi Hot Springs. Adventure Inn will always be part of our CR plans in the future.

Hotel Grano De Oro is an elegant and upscale accommodation in western San Jose, offering a boutique B&B feel with antique furnishings and luxurious bed linens. The hotel features over 100 rooms, a polished restaurant, a bar, and two hot tubs for guests to enjoy. Additionally, the hotel's warm and cozy restaurant offers a special menu throughout December, featuring delectable dishes such as thinly sliced pig trotter with fennel puree and parsley pesto.
Started our adventures in Costa Rica at Hotel Grano De Oro and it was the best choice. We were only spending the night so did not need a specific location in San Jose. But loved how easy it was to find this hotel with very accessible parking. The hotel was beautiful and fun to wander around. They actually upgraded us to a family suite, which was spacious and amazing. We had fun in the hot tub and even just sitting out on the decks in the early morning, But - the true standout for this hotel was the staff. Everyone was just incredibly kind and funny. The restaurant food was delicious- do grab both dinner and breakfast there. And the waitstaff were totally delightful - patient with us as we speak almost no spanish yet they guided us on on pronunciation and gave us tips for our stay. Absolutely recommend this hotel!

It was a gorgeous setting. We just loved it and will definitely be back. Oh, and breakfast was also perfection! And we loved the jacuzzis!

Just a 5/5 experience! My husband and I stayed here for one night on the first stretch of our honeymoon. Immediately, we were met with wonderful service. Some members speak English, others speak very little, but that’s okay! Smiles got us a long way. The hotel was accommodating to us immediately. They let us drop off our luggage and give them our dirty laundry while we waited for the room to be ready. We spent the time exploring the city. When we were ready to check in, all our luggage had been moved up for us! Our room was clean, had beautiful views, and we were even given complimentary items for our honeymoon! The shower was a little tricky to figure out, but we got it eventually. The hot water fluctuated between hot and lukewarm, but all in all, was good enough. There is parking across the street in a gated area. They open and close the gates when the guests need to access the car, so it was very secure. Highly recommend this hotel!

Nice luxurious place. Stayed with family of four in one room. Was prefect size. Breakfast in the morning is a al carte and somewhat slow. But food is good and service great. Slightly outside heart of the center, so either take an uber or walk for 20mins

Hotel Grano de Oro is truly a special place! It's an updated first class Victorian hotel in the Downtown San Jose that is an amazing hotel unlike any other chain or boutique hotel in the city. It's an incredible throwback that is updated and decorated where every single detail was taken into account to create something beyond memorable. From the flowers decorating the hotel, better than an arboretum, to the old school photos of the city, it's easy to get lost in the hotel and its restored glory from an old mansion. We stayed for a one night staycation in the city for an anniversary and it went so far beyond expectations from even before setting foot in the hotel. The staff was incredible working to arrange everything from a flower petal laden table for a world class dinner, to an amazing room with a private flower sitting area, to a Spa appointment, and even everything to enjoy on site like roof top temperature controlled jacuzzis- the Grano de Oro surpassed out wildest expectations and its impossible to say enough good things. To anyone out there considering a hotel in San Jose, please spend a night here and make sure to eat in the restaurant for dinner and breakfast plus give the Spa a go as well. It's a throwback to when incredible detail and service sets hotels apart with the Grano de Oro first in its class. PS. While in the restaurant, make sure to try the pistachio crusted steak and for dessert the namesake Grano de Oro pie as they are worth the trip in themselves.

Come here for the eggs benedict. I removed a star as they decided to serve what i think was jamon from localy packaged cinta azul instead of the typical offer of jamón serrano. Were you out??? Check photo. Removed another star as attention to patrons was lacking. They have done better in the past and could improve. I hope they improves on my next visit.

Located in the vibrant Paseo Las Damas area, Sleep Inn Hotel Paseo Las Damas offers a convenient and comfortable stay for both business and leisure travelers. The hotel features a 24-hour restaurant, gym, and casino, along with complimentary breakfast and parking. The air-conditioned rooms are equipped with modern amenities such as microwave, fridge, and iron. Despite its central location, the hotel provides a secure gated parking lot with friendly security staff.
This hotel is a great choice for anyone looking for a convenient location and comfortable stay. It's just a short walk from all the historical sites, making it easy to explore the city. The rooms are well-maintained and the service is excellent. The breakfast buffet has a good selection of options, including eggs, sausages, cheeses, fruits, sandwiches, and cereals with milk. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They also have a laundry service for just $1 per wash and $1 per dry, which is a great value. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the city.

Very nice hotel. Stayed here for four days and it was a very pleasant and quiet stay. The staff were very friendly and the rooms were cleaned everyday. Was given two bed room instead of a king sized and I was not upset, it actually worked out very well in the end. Breakfast came with the rooms and it was good, not the best but good enough to get you started for the day. Overall, a decent hotel. I would stay here again.

Good sized rooms, good shower. Air con dated but worked. Breakfast was good. Good choices. Lovely staff. Was very noisy. Cars, bikes, music from next door. Reception pretty grumpy.

Checked in to our room 213 and immediately found the toilet was totally blocked and cannot be flushed, Reported to reception, waited over 30min, no one came to fix. Went down to report the problem again and also asked for a change of room. Reception told me all rooms were booked and sent someone to unblock the toilet. He couldn't fix the blockage after another 30min of trying, my wife called reception and they had a free room only a few doors down. Very poor service from the reception staff, they made no attemps at rectifing the problem when first reported, then denied a change of room at the first request even though there were available rooms. We travel a lot and will not be using this chain of hotels again!!!!

Hotel Luisiana is an unpretentious establishment nestled in a calm setting, featuring an enticing open-air pool, a lively bar, and an inviting Italian eatery. A contented guest was so satisfied with their initial stay that they returned for a second visit during the same trip. Costa Rica tends to be noisy due to constant rooster crowing and barking dogs nearby; however, this hotel provided a peaceful respite from such disturbance. The affordability of the accommodations made it even more enjoyable.
Beautiful hotel, super relaxing and close to everything. Restaurante is incredible! Great prices, big comfortable rooms.

A friend who lives nearby recommended this hotel for an affordable stay while in San Jose, CR. I was excited to stay here for the first time. Upon arrival the receptionist asked for my ID and the ID of my 14 year old child. My son did not have his ID with him, he showed the receptionist his ID number, not accepted. I mentioned when traveling with my Costa Rican wife and other two children we have not been asked for children’s ID. I feel like I was being profiled by the staff. They were questioning me that I was his father. I called my wife, the mother of the child, the receptionist recommended she send a photo of his ID. While waiting for the photo, I told the receptionist I had an appointment to attend to, please reserve the room in my name with only 1 guest, that way I could store my belongings in the room, than once the ID photo of my son was sent we would return after my appointment for both of us to stay. A different receptionist stepped in and refused me the room. Poor customer service. Shame I was looking forward to staying there. I found a boutique hotel in the same area. I told them about my situation and they were reasonably accepted the photo ID. I am a lawful person and follow the rules when visiting hotels, the staff at Hotel Luisiana were making false accusations. Good for your organization for being strict but the staff was not friendly about it. Best not to make judgments on people.

I was recommended by a friend to this hotel. I am renovating my home nearby and decided to give it a try. My mistake was paying for 4 nights in advance. After looking at many rooms before settling on the room by the office . Most of the rooms smell vey bad. In my room the shower leaked, toilet didn’t work. Although the staff tried to fix it they could not. You had to hold the flush handle for quite awhile then you had to put your hand in the toilet reservoir to close the flapper. Ridiculous as such an easy fix. The staff was very accommodating and appeared to be embarrassed with the state of the plumbing in my room as they said the owner won’t repair anything .The mattress was old hard and wet as well. The bed was wet because of the plumbing issues - leaking shower 24/7 causes humidity and lack of sunlight. All rooms are dark. The closet even with door left open my clothes were damp. I felt like I was in the rainforest with such dampness. The noise is terrible on weekends because there is a fabulous Italian pizza restaurant on the grounds which I can recommend. I live at the beach so I was cold. The temperature in the room was colder than outside. The first night I complained and they tried to tell me the aircon produces heat but it did not. They did provide blankets which I used one on the mattress because it was damp and the other to wrap up in. I asked to cancel after two days there and I was told they would not return my money. The hotel is more like a $24 a night back packers kind of place. I moved over to Hilton Garden Hotel. I feel sorry for the staff as they try so hard but have so many rules their hands are tied . The manager was never on site and they couldn’t reach her. I know I’m not getting a refund . I want everyone to know this place is not worth the money. Maybe if one can’t afford more than $60 a night and it’s only one night and you can walk many stairs to get yo your smelly room it could work for you.

I have to share with you what happened to us at this hotel. We need to stay away from them. We booked a room at the hotel because my husband had to have surgery the next day. He was injured after a car accident. We arrived at the hotel and paid full price and also left a $50 deposit. We left the room after 4 hours of sleeping there because we left early in the morning. We checked out and the girl comes back and says there is a sign of poop on the bed. Apparently my husband's wound caused a small stain on the sheet that comes off in the wash. She charged us $50. It's really embarrassing. The man was injured and the stain on the sheet was a small spot. The humiliation we went through there from the girls at the desk was insulting. Be careful. I'm personally going to sue them, but apparently this is something they do regularly to take the deposit. Be careful and stay away from them like fire.

Shower has no hot water, barely warm. The refrigerator is so loud, the tv is poor quality, the pillows are FLAT, the blankets and towels are thin, there is no shampoo/conditioner, toilet lowkey is so bad. The hallways are tiled so when people check out in the morning and walk with their suitcases, it’s LOUD to the point of waking you up. They also have a restaurant catered to non guests so parking gets insane at night not to mention it’s so loud. No elevators, not wheelchair or stroller friendly.

I recently rented two rooms and have been staying at hotel Louisiana for years. This was absolutely the worst experience. We had to leave early for an 8 hour trip. They wanted us to wait to check the room which we waited for 20 minutes and still nobody has gone and so we ultimately left. When I went to try to make another reservation it came up that due to an “incident” they would not rent to me again. When I called to ask why they alleged I stole a towel and then they attempted to charge my card for an alleged stolen towel I never took. I emailed the manager to try to resolve this issue and they have still not returned my email. Given we rented two rooms, one room only had two towels and do we had gotten more and gave one to my daughter to use. I stole nothing and to be accused of stealing by the receptionist and then justify attempting to charge my card and prevent me from staying there is beyond my comprehension. I am also the owner of multiple hotels and I cannot fathom not letting a customer stay at my hotel over a “stolen towel” which was never stolen. When going back through emails, I never received any information about issues w an alleged stolen towel or that I was not allowed to stay there anymore! Literally the worst customer service. When I now look at reviews and the responses to people by management it is beyond unprofessional and I was flabbergasted at the responses. WOW just wow! The receptionist had talked about how low sales have been since Covid and ironically I haven’t stayed there since before Covid and I see why their bookings are so low now given how incredibly rude they are to people.

Spanish architecture hotel 30 mins from SJO up in the hills and in a very quiet neighborhood. We checked in late and we were met by Alberto who made our check in seamless, made us a homemade fruit drink and gave us cookies and even went into the restaurant and got us a late night nightcap and brought them to our room. Beautiful view from our spacious balcony overlooking the city... room was spotless and while the mattress was very firm, it was also very comfortable. Upon check out the next morning, meet with Michele who was also very professional and a very sweet lady and gave us directions to our next stop. Would highly recommend this hotel!

Great Hotel! Loved the view. Little difficult with have any left over food as there was no mini fridge to store and the shower handle was a bit funky figuring out the hot and cold water and making sure it's turned completely off. Overall, it was a great place to stay in Costa Rica! Thanks for having us!

My husband and I spent our honeymoon at Alta Las Palomas, and it was nothing short of amazing. We arrived late at night and were warmly welcomed with fresh pineapple juice—such a lovely touch! The room was cozy, and the bed was incredibly comfortable, but what truly made our stay memorable was the exceptional service. A special thank you to Jorge, who served us breakfast and brightened our mornings, and Jairol, who made sure we had the best table with a stunning view for dinner every night. Both were so welcoming and genuinely friendly. Jairol even went out of his way to make me fresh fruit smoothies when I wasn’t in the mood for an alcoholic drink—such thoughtful service! The food was fantastic, and the coffee was some of the best we’ve ever had. The pool area was a perfect place to relax, too. I also want to express my gratitude to Marlene at the front desk, who was kind enough to provide medicine from her own purse when I wasn’t feeling well on the last night of our stay. Additionally, there’s a wonderful animal sanctuary within walking distance of the hotel, offering fantastic guided tours. We can't recommend this place enough—come for the breathtaking views, and stay for the amazing service!

We recently stayed at the Alta hotel for a family reunion. The staff could not have been more accommodating and helpful. George was a real professional every morning for breakfast service and remembered everyone's drink from the day before. The rooms and grounds were clean and welcoming. The morning coffee was honestly the best we have ever had, and that is saying something as my fiancés' family owns a coffee plantation. The hotel is located conveniently is Escazu and if you have kids, you will appreciate the location of a small zoo within walking distance. Many kudos to the management, owner, and staff.

I was looking for a hotel room for a one night stay in San Jose before our flight the next day. I was traveling with my two adult sons as well as my husband. We need plenty of space if possible and prefer a room with a separate living area. I found this hotel in my search and booked it. I’m so glad I did. This hotel is so unique and charming. The views are amazing and the architecture is stunning. The owner has a farm close by and uses it to supply the restaurant with fruit and coffee. Our breakfast was outstanding. There are a few quirks about this hotel and if you are looking for sleek and modern, this not the place for you. But, if you like unique properties with lots of charm, do not pass up this hidden gem.

Vintage cottage-turned-Hostel with curious architecture. Surprisingly peaceful and quiet. Beautiful lobby. The rooms were a little dark, due to deep red velvet curtains. It took some effort to open them and allow more sunlight. There is no hot water showerhead. I did not find any patio kitchen, and minus one star because no one showed the way. I did not have access to any kind of microwave, hot water for coffee or tea, or boiling water for instant food items like ramen or Cup of Soup. For these, we had to bother staff in the kitchen, and that is not fair to them. A mini size refrigerator in the rooms would be helpful to keep drinks, insulin, or formula cold. The grounds need some plants and landscaping. Excellent access to westbound bus transportation with a bus stop at the corner just across the street, and also down the block along Paseo Colon.

Loved staying here. Very friendly and very helpful staff. They were also easy to comunicate with. I really appreciated the size of the locker. I could fit my whole backpack in there and still had room, so it was nice to just be able to leave it with my personal lock on it and go somewhere. The beds were really comfy too. I passed right out on them. I also appreciate how clean and organized it was. Great place near the buses if your starting out in San Jose. I wasn't at this Hostel very long, but I really enjoyed my stay here those two nights.

The hostel is in a decent location. Fifteen minute walk to city center. Restaurant/bar attached, nice outdoor seating/smoking area (not part of restaurant). Staff was friendly. The room was a decent size. The room leaves much to be desired. It smelled musty the moment we walked in. One of the handles in the shower pulled completely off and had to just be stuck back on. The main room light is barely better than being off. You can hear all the city traffic very clearly from the room. The doorway into the room is very small (and I am not a large person). Not a terrible stay, but I wouldn't recommend for more than one night or so.

OK hostel, about 20 minutes out of the main centre which is walkable during the day. There is a decent outdoor area with a kitchen. There is a pool table in the common area and a restaurant attached to the hostel, which does average food. The major negative here is the staff, while trying to be helpful aren't very well trained and don't know what they are doing often. E.g. they lost our dorm key when we went out for dinner and we had to wait a half hour to get into our room when we got home.

Updated review Oktoberfest 2015 Great place I can back a couple of time now and this place is my home in San Jose. The area is 5 /10 minute walk tot the city center just one corner and a one road straight can't mis it. If it is your first visit in Costa Rica this I the place to set you up to find your good spots around the country. The staff who speak different languages very well, will help you out with everything you need support in to figure out. Really love this place for a lot of reasons but most it feels like home. This was a great place to stay for what we needed. We arrived in San Jose with the plan of getting the pink bus in the morning. At first, I was surprised by the room as it gives more of a hostel feel and it is older which is the only reason I knocked it a star (beds and pillows are old). BUT, and I hope you've read on, the service and breakfast made it worth it. We got to sit in the back which has tables and drank wine with the resident cat. Even though it's a happening neighborhood, it was really nice to relax in a quiet space. The breakfast was so good and the coffee was excellent. We had a peaceful night sleep and the pink bus picked us up at the front door the next morning.

So this place is in a safe neighbourhood. However the facilities are quite below expectations. I had no switches in my room and the bedding and bathroom did not seem very clean. I found hair in the toilet and it was not cleaned.
Amulya K — Google review
If they would update the rooms to match the environment like the lobby and restaurant, it would help a lot. We were in the 3-bed room facing the alley. Sheets are old, torn, and stained. Mattresses are sunken in and old, they need to be refreshed. The walls are stained and paint is peeling. The cleanliness is very questionable. There was absolutely no hot water. The toilet seat fell off while I was using it, completely broken. Barely any electrical outlets in the room, not near the bed. No lamps, just harsh overhead lighting. Old, noisy fan provided for cooling. Some windows were facing ours and we heard techno music and smelled marijuana smoke blowing in at 3am, impossible to sleep. Bad, narrow parking situation. Looks really pretty from the outside and the lobby but the rooms show a complete lack of care for the property. It's sad to see the owner leaving defensive feedback on the low-scoring reviews. I can't tell if they're just rude or actually unaware of how bad it is. The bad reviews are true, at least for the room we were in. This person has not reinvested in keeping their property updated and functional.

We spent a night here. The bedroom was dirty. One of the beds had dirty linen we had to request change of bed sheets (they never offered to change us of room). The bathroom was dirty, there was dirt behind the toilet sink and toilet seat. Tiles in the shower were mouldy, rubbish bin lid was dusty, and there was dirt behind it. My friend found some hair in the bathroom as soon as we got there. And my other friend found a piece of toe nail on her bed (they never offered same one we asked for change of linen). The place is not ugly but clearly the housekeeper clean only where you can see, just a lazy job. We got better and cleaner accommodation in Costa Rica for same price or less. Disappointing.

The worst sleep we had in Costa Rica! The rooms are very basic, with stained curtains hanging off a rail not even attached to the wall, paint flaking off the walls, hard mattress, mould in the shower and not even a side lamp. Worst of all are the very loud trains that go past every 10 minutes starting from 04:30 running until nearly 23:00, which was the worst thing possible for our early flight the next day!

I stayed here multiple times over a few months in Costa Rica, in various rooms - it’s a great place with friendly and professional staff and a chill vibe throughout. The place is cleaned thoroughly daily, so the shared bathrooms are never a problem. Bedrooms are cleaned to a high standard too and those in the main building are very quiet. Nice peaceful location with some decent restaurants and shops close by, lovely garden, and it’s a big help being able to leave luggage there when away from San Jose for a bit. The only down side for me was the shared fridge, which was often full of long-expired food and drink left by other guests - it appears like it doesn’t get regularly emptied/cleaned, which was a shame as it put me off using it (the rest of the kitchen is very well kept).

We stayed here for several days, a couple of times, staying in the main house and the one across the street. What can I say? Everything you look for in a hotel is here and good. From the friendly, very helpful staff to the clean, quiet rooms and spotless bathrooms, relaxing common areas and garden oasis in the middle of the city... Casa Jardin del Mango is a gem! And Javi the house dog makes everyone feel welcome too.

I picked it for the price and proximity to the fútbol stadium, but the rooms were also nice and the garden was cute. My son liked seeing the fish and turtles. The room was clean and comfortable, despite the bathroom skylight leaking and the sliding door track overflowing a little due to the heavy rain. Another oddity was that there was no way to lock (or unlock) the sliding glass door when we were in the room.

This is a wonderful and affordable place to stay in the heart of the city. The host is an extremely nice and helpful person. It seems each room is a bit different, some rooms are more hostel style with shared bathroom while others have their own bathroom. There is a large common area with stocked kitchen, game room, dining areas, and of course the beautiful garden. We drank tea and coffee in the garden each morning and enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere. The neighborhood felt safe and clean and has several good restaurants , a nice big city park, several museums, the national stadium, and lots of shopping all in walking distance. When we return to the city we will be happy to stay here again.

They lock the door with no way of getting in or out. There is no 24hr reception. I guess I just won't drink water tonight because I can't get out to buy water. Don't book if you are a night owl. Otherwise it's okay but a bit expensive, considering there are other hotels that are cheaper and have better service and rooms. I recommend Hotel Quinta Avenida, their staff is so helpful and they have 24 hour reception. The rooms there come with their own full bathroom and shower and the room is twice the size. It's also 5mil cheaper. If it ain't broke don't fix it. Update: come to think of it. It's a total fire hazard. If something were to happen you'd be trapped in the building. Very bad. Update: there is dirt all over the bed. Taking a star away. Don't book here.

Good price/quality, so understand what you’ll get for the very low price. Wouldn’t stay here for multiple nights, but great for a short 1 night stay, close to the town center. Friendly people and the public areas are nicely decorated. Their well groomed cat is the cutest.

Very comfortable, quiet hotel in a secure and safe area with everything in walking distance. Stayed over two weeks during a visa renewal process and was even upgraded to a bigger room at no extra cost for staying longer than we originally planned. I will definitely be using this hotel for my overnight stays in San Jose for the future!

Great place to stay if you to want to stay somewhere with clean rooms, on a budget, with a central location in San José near Sabana Park, and if you prefer to be in a place with warm and friendly people running it.You will also enjoy the unique decorative items in the common area, and if you get really lucky, you may get to see the house cat, Emma! She’s one of the more likeable cats I’ve ever met!

Not worth the money, the WC is almost in the room with no door in between. The interior is not in a good condotion. Watch out for the exchange rate from Dollars to Colones, they calcualte with a rate, which is way to high...
Benjamin H — Google review
We had booked with this hotel after checking they operated a 24 reception. And we confirmed this with the owner on booking .com chat so he was aware we would arrive after midnight. Unfortunately when we arrived at 00:10 they had cancelled our booking 5 minutes before we arrived at the hotel and when we knocked on the door and rang the bell the porter answered after 10 minutes ( so he had obviously fallen asleep) and explained they had given the room away!!! DO NOT BOOK WITH THIS HOTEL if you are planning to arrive late as they obviously do not operate a 24 hour front desk!

The location is great! The hotel is very clean. The staff is friendly and helpful. The kitchen has everything you need. Beds are comfortable. The price is great especially for what you get. Stay here!

Nestled just over 1.5 kilometers from the vibrant San Jose Central Park, Hotel Cacts is a delightful retreat that offers a refreshing escape from the bustling city life. Close to La Sabana Metropolitan Park, this charming 2-star hotel stands out for its serene ambiance and well-maintained facilities. Guests can indulge in amenities such as a swimming pool, jacuzzi, terrace, garden, and spa—perfect for unwinding after a day of exploration.
This hotel is a hidden gem in an otherwise undesirable part of San José. The way it is constructed makes it like a resort oasis in the middle of the urban jungle. It is quiet, beautifully rustic, and has rooms which are very clean and with multiple beds. There is also a nice rooftop where you can enjoy a mountain view and the included typical breakfast made by the same kind lady who cleans the rooms. The woman at the front desk in the morning is also wonderful. If you tend to spend more money than a hostel-hopper but don’t need luxury, this place is pitch perfect. I will love this hotel always. There are things you can't complain about since it's a 2 star hotel but there are others that are real downsides. For being a 2 stars hotel, the building is nice, it's a small pool, like a jacuzzi and a terrace where you can get breakfast. There is no elevator, my room was very dark and didn't have AC, and some rooms are on the third floor but it's sort of expected. What I didn't like was the room had a strong smell from a mix of cleaning product and humidity and the floor was sticky. The staff were not very well trained, I asked for a late check out and didn't know what that meant so they said no. Luckily they offered me to use the shower from the pool area in the afternoon, however, when I tried to do so they told me that they couldn't give me a towel, I offered to pay and I was declined. Lastly, the WiFi was very unreliable and rarely worked in the room. If it wasn't for the towel thing, I'd have given a 4 star review.

Good location - less than 250 steps from the Ticabus terminal around the corner, yet in a quiet neighborhood. Congenial staff. Interior public spaces of hotel are lush oases. The rooftop terrace that adjoins the common dining area is perhaps the nicest feature of the hotel. The dining room has available 24-7: piping hot water, a purified-water dispenser, and microwaves, toasters, and a toaster oven for guest use. Room clean. Breakfast included with room rate: Fresh fruit, juice, hearty whole-grain bread, and scrambled eggs with rice/beans. Delighted that the sleeping room included a refrigerator with freezer, a small water pitcher and two glasses, and a ceiling fan. Good shower. Wifi connection was rocky at times. Most sleeping rooms look onto the interior walkways, thus privacy preferences had me keeping my curtains drawn, unfortunately. No desk. Instead, a long bureau with drawers takes up the space where a desk could go quite nicely. Access to electrical outlets by beds required some ingenuity. No usb ports. One, uncomfortable wooden dining chair in room. Would I stay again? Yes.

mike was such a welcoming host, the room was spacious, clean and had a fridge, tv and a ceiling fan. the breakfast was basic but still good and the pool was very cold but refreshing! the hotel stay overall was better than i could’ve hoped for considering i’m budget travelling- definitely would recommend to anyone looking to stay in san jose

Fab place to stay in San jose. Mike is a great guy very helpful with everything. Hotel is clean and tidy. Staff are friendly. nice swimming pool and hot tub. Rooms are a bit dark but nice enough. Breakfast was lovely on a lovely rooftop terrace.

We have stayed here on three separate trips to Costa Rica, and will stay again. It is a basic hotel, close to the Police station, clean and friendly. Hotel Cacts provides everything you need, and is an easy walking distance from good places to eat, Downtown, and the bus station. If you can't live without American styled amenities, then stop whining and go to Allejuela and stay at the Holiday Inn for three times the price.

I loved the design of the hotel and breakfast was good. The pool and hot tub were nice. The location was near good restaurants. I recommend Maria Bonita which is 5 mins away. Service was awesome, they set up the transfer of our luggage to and from the airport. Great hotel.

Nestled just 10 km from the iconic Estadio Nacional de Costa Rica, Casa Kibi Kibi is a charming retreat in San Jose that offers guests a delightful blend of comfort and community. With its inviting garden, barbecue facilities, and shared kitchen, this property is perfect for those looking to unwind. Guests can enjoy serene views of the garden or inner courtyard while relaxing on the sun terrace.
I stayed at Casa Kibi Kibi from late December 2021 to March 4th 2022. I considered it my oasis in paradise. From the moment I met Shirani who is the owner, host and resident in the Casa I knew I had not only met an extraordinary manager, but had also made a new friend. Shirani not only made sure the rooms were always clean, comfortable, repaired and stocked, but he also installed an extra wifi router to accommodate all the guests. He also added larger flat screen TVs and new refrigerators while I was there. The "house" as Shirani calls it, also has two living areas with soft furniture, dining tables, a bookcase with a great selection of books and even board games. The two kitchens have everything needed to fix a quick snack or a complete meal. Casa Kibi Kibi was my home away from home where I met people from many countries during my stay. The jewel of the Casa is the central garden with exotic flowers, shrubs and even hairy banana trees which fascinated me. I even lost 35 pounds from my daily walks downtown and in the local streets near the Casa! I will be returning there again and again to continue living the Pura Vida.
Michael Z — Google review
We stayed at Kibi Kibi in Feb of 2025. We loved the property, which was clean and conveniently located for our itinerary while in Costa Rica. The owner was very responsive and friendly. Bonus that he speaks fluent English as we speak very little Spanish. Kibi Kibi has a relaxing inner courtyard that was pleasant to hang out in. Access to a nice shared kitchen with appliances, cups, refrigerator space, etc. There were restaurant choices, bakery, grocery store and other local businesses that we took advantage of within easy walking distance. Beds were comfortable. Shower had hot water and good pressure. Added optional plus that Kibi Kibi offered a shuttle from the airport and a pay for washer and dryer which included laundry soap. Mepe bus station to catch a bus to the coast was a 15 minute Uber ride away. Local bus stop a four minute walk. Twenty minute Uber to get downtown to museums, National Theatre, etc. Good Wi-fi. Owner easy to reach via WhatsApp if you do not have phone service. Would definitely stay here again.

The place is clean and cute and close to San Pedro. There was everything for enjoying my time in San Jose. Thanks to the hosts Shirani and Luis, they are welcoming and ready to give advices for a better trip in Costa Rica

This was the best place I stayed in my entire Costa Rica trip! It was absolutely phenomenal! Wonderful garden for yoga, great rooms with all the amenities you want, amazing kitchens & lounge area, useful supermarket across the street, & best of all was the host, Shirani, an intelligent kind fellow with a charming story!

Casa Kibi Kibi is a small guesthouse with a nice owner and a lovely garden. The atmosphere is good most of the time and the guests usually stay a few weeks/months. Beds are comfortable and rooms get cleaned once a week. There are two kitchens and communal areas. The house is very close to a supermarket and a bus station. Kibi Kibi is definitely a good choice of you're looking for an international home in the San Pedro area.

I stayed at Casa Kibi Kibi for around 5 months and had a terrific experience. The landlord Shirani was nothing but kind, helpful, and accommodating during my time in Costa Rica. He was quick to respond when I had a question and was readily available to help with anything that I needed. The living spaces are beautiful and the garden in the center of the complex is the best place to spend a morning in San José. I highly recommend anyone to stay with a shirani at casa kibi kibi whether it is for a couple nights or a few months!
Tucker G — Google review
This place was perfect as the rooms were clean, the beds were comfortable and the kitchen had ample space to make and store any food I wanted to. The inner courtyard and shared spaces were great to relax in and it was located half a block from a supermarket.
Michelle F — Google review
I stayed at kibi Kibi during my time in San Jose. I absolutely loved it and would highly recommend it. A small guest house with 9 rooms, some facing onto a wonderfully manicured courtyard where we did yoga every Tuesday and Thursday. Here you will find other travellers and people staying in the city for a while. Open minded friendly folk: a great little community of its own and a nice environment. Room had a private bathroom and I never experienced any issues that would cause me to write negatively. The owner who runs the place is very approachable, friendly and helpful. It's near UCR, San Pedro mall and many places you might consider for its location, there's even a supermarket right across the street. Busses pass frequently and it's only a 15 minute walk to San Pedro. A great experience and I'm sure to return one day. Highly recommended. Happy times. Bon voyage!

Hotel
Luna Inn B&B is a charming colonial-style home located in the upscale town of Cariari, near San Jose. The property boasts verdant landscaped gardens, providing a peaceful oasis between the Juan Santamaria International Airport and the Tobias Bolanos Domestic Airport. The cozy rooms feature traditional furnishings with unique touches like a Frida Kahlo mural and tiled floors. Guests can enjoy beautiful views of the grounds and mountains from airy upstairs rooms or relax in the tropical garden with various sitting areas.
Luna Inn is beautiful. All the staff we spoke with were strong English speakers. There is gorgeous woodwork throughout, handcrafted by the owners themselves. They have several secure doors and gates to prevent unauthorized entry. They have a lovely little sculpture garden in their courtyard and have plans for further improvements in their backyard that already offers a beautiful view of the cityscape and the mountains. We were there in the summer and the entire place was opened up with a lovely breeze throughout. The workmanship throughout the B&B was superior to anywhere else we stayed during our trip, including many places that were dramatically more expensive. We especially appreciated the furnishings and quality of the work in the bathroom. I cannot praise Esteban enough, who I believe is a part-owner. Not only did he renovate and decorate the property, he also was instrumental in helping me navigate San José, not only offering his car for rent but even helping me run around town and find the best places to buy the remaining items for my brother's wedding that was happening later that day. I can't thank him enough. We received a level of care and attention that goes so far above and beyond what we could ever reasonably expect. I would gladly pay twice what they ask to stay there and hope to stay at their sister property during a future trip to Costa Rica. I can't recommend them enough.

We chose this hotel because of its short distance to the airport and the good reviews. Overall, we liked the hotel and the friendliness of the staff. What we did not like is the fact they charge a substantial fee for late arrival (we arrived around 11pm). We also felt pressured when we inquired about renting a car with them, and decided not to since they could not send a contract.
Bruno M — Google review
Amazing experience! - Clean, spacious rooms, with huge bathrooms (plenty of hot water with great water pressure) - The best breakfast (complementary) we had during our week in Costa Rica: just look at all those fresh ingredients - The backyard is beautiful and looks like a great place to relax - Located right by the airport - Affordable price Special thanks go to Ariana and Esteban for making this a comfortable and memorable stay!

I had an amazing stay at the Luna Inn B&B. The proximity to the airport is what drew me to it, but I was so impressed with the details they’ve put into developing the Inn. The stone sinks in the rooms are to die for, and the beds are super comfy! It’s in a quiet area, and the staff works hard to make it feel like a home away from home. Esteban was an incredible host. He offered airport pickups/drop offs and was able to provide good advice for traveling around Costa Rica. I’d definitely recommend a night or two at Luna Inn!
Heather M — Google review
We used Luna Inn as a base for our own 'hub & spoke' trip around Costa Rica. Over 3 weeks we stayed 5 nights in total. Ideal for the airport, friendly team, safe neighbourhood to walk around, range of restaurants & supermarket about a 15 minute stroll away. They offer transportation & car hire too. So much nicer than a bland hotel chain.
Alan S — Google review
I stayed at Luna Inn for a conference and could not have made a better choice. Ariana communicated with me prior to my visit and organized an airport pickup which made my arrival in Costa Rica very easy. The B&B itself is clean, airy and beautifully decorated. I slept so well. Breakfast was delicious and the super friendly staff was attentive to dietary restrictions and preferences. The backyard garden is a little oasis, offering mountain views, fruit trees, hammocks, and the spectacle of busy leafcutter ants when I was visiting. The b&b was in walking distance of the National Convention Center, a supermarket and several restaurants, the neighborhood felt safe to me, a solo female traveler. Esteban was offering lots of insight for getting around Costa Rica and was super attentive. Staying at the Luna Inn was the perfect, homey antidote to a busy conference week. I would definitely come back, be it for work or personal travel. Thank you Ariana, Esteban and Nelly, que les vaya muy muy bien!
Jule K — Google review
This was our first time vacationing in Costa Rica and Esteban at Luna Inn made my husband and I feel at home. Esteban arranged for a taxi to pick us up from airport at midnight and stayed up to welcome us. The room was spacious, clean, cool and comfortable. They prepared a delicious gallo-pinto for breakfast with coffee. We laid in the hammocks and took in Luna Inn’s beautiful garden. The staff arranged for the taxi to take us to pick up our rental car. Esteban and entire staff were extremely attentive to all of our needs. We highly recommend the Luna Inn and we are looking forward to our upcoming stay at the Luna Lodge. “Pura Vida”

The B&B is in a great, quiet location. It's close to the city but far enough outside to really relax. The property itself is gorgeous with incredible views. There are many restaurants and even a mini grocery store within walking distance. Breakfast was always delicious and we even paid to have a fantastic home cooked dinner one night. Esteban was a gracious host who even took us on a couple of our excursions, for a small fee of course. We stayed in the Garden View Suite, which was absolutely lovely. Our only recommendation would be to add screens to the exterior doors to keep the bugs out.

Small, boutique-style hotel with comfortable rooms and eclectic decor. Hotel CR Lounge is a little off the beaten track in San Jose, although it's still within easy walking distance of the National Zoo, the Parque Nacional, and the National Museum. Rooms are comfortable, with huge en-suite bathrooms, and sizeable wardrobes. Service is impeccably friendly and helpful, and prices are fair across the board. There's also a small sports/dive bar attached that's a lot of fun and has surprisingly good food. Overall it was a great stay and I'll certainly stop here again, next time I'm in San Jose.

Very unique quaint boutique style 10 rooms hotel with each having different decor. Room #10 has a huge 6'x4' stall shower & comfy king size bed with pillows & cushions! It has faint sounds of dance music from downstairs bar & restaurant but I enjoyed reminiscing! Will stay again in downtown San Jose!

I was a little disappointed as it was myself and two other people (1 working). They closed early because it was so slow, but there was NO Cigar lounge, and it was dead. Loved love loved my stay here! Loved how it had a homey feel to it and a stunning backyard area where you can enjoy your breakfast or read. Great spot if you're a content creator as well. The staff and owner were super friendly and gave us everything we needed. The only negative is that if you choose to get your breakfast included in your stay, it is the same option for food everyday so I would have loved some variety but other than that it was fantastic. Also recommend you get a rental car as well because sites like waterfalls, the beach and volcanoes are far away (1 hour+ driving) but you are very close to city life (15-20 min drive).
Racquel W — Google review
We needed a one night stay in San Jose before flying home. We booked with XIN directly using the phone number on google. Her service is excellent, breakfast was good with very good coffee. After seeing the city in one evening we wish we had booked two nights. The city also feels more secure and safe since a visit 8 years ago. We. understand there is an increased presence of CCTV cameras in the city which has cut down crime. We recommend XIN

Peaceful location, with one of the best restaurants near, also very clean, and I would say rich neighborhood. The building is gorgeous, big, antique, with a lot of charm and style. Outside garden is amazing. Just is so cozy to be here. With a previous day rain, the temperature inside was just perfect. Host - XIN is amazing, happy and helpful, as the rooms are, very clean. My only criticizm is the position of mine room, behind the laundry, althought I slept very well, no noise at all. XIN prepared me a breakfast for next morning to take out since I was geting out early! Will visit them again, for sure!!

Stayed here overnight on my last night in Costa Rica before coming home. It was OUTSTANDING! Mayela is such a kind soul and a relaxing presence. She was available at all hours to help with anything I needed (and I am a big goofball so I locked myself out in the courtyard no fewer than three times). Not to mention the hotel itself is beautiful; I simply loved the colonial decor! If I ever stay overnight again in San Jose, I would definitely come here. It’s a blessing to support Jewish owned businesses at home and abroad, especially those belonging to such fine folks. Mayela, if you see this Chag Sameach & G-d bless you and your family!

I’ll absolutely be staying here always from now on; when I need a place to stay in San Jose for a night before or after a flight. Staff are very kind and thorough and helpful. Bedrooms and bathrooms were comfortable and clean. Rooms are spacious. Many good things to say! I’ll be back soon!

(Translated by Google) It's in Chinatown, and there are Chinese restaurants that are open at night, so I felt safe to go around at night! It was great because it was close to most tourist attractions, so you could walk to them all, and the rooms and facilities were cheap! The bathroom, kitchen and rest area were all very comfortable to use and clean! The owner is very kind! There are a lot of good cake and bubble tea restaurants around, so make sure to try them haha Gundeng, Yogi, Yogi, Pagat, Eun-gae, I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I don't know much about it, but I know a little bit about it. This much? (Translated by Google) Dyla is very friendly and answers quickly. The place is clean, nice, safe, and well-located. Excellent value for money. The only drawback is that it can be a bit noisy at night due to the other surrounding establishments. (Original) Dyla es muy amigable y contesta rápido. El lugar es limpio, lindo, seguro y bien ubicado. Excelente relación calidad-precio. El único inconveniente es que puede ser ruidoso un poco en la noche por los otros establecimientos al redor.

This was my 1st time staying in a hostel and I enjoyed my experience at Lolas! Be sure to have the WhatsApp on your phone and ready to use as this was how I communicated with the woman, Dyla, who takes care of you while here. I didn't know this and missed the first message. She was nice, helpful, and responded quickly to my messages 😊 I opted for my own private room with a private bathroom located out in the hall, nearby my room! I stayed solo so feeling safe was important and I did feel safe! There's a double door front entry and both my bedroom and bathroom had locks :) It was a quiet place with the exception of a bird periodically chirping a truly lovely tune and outside noises. The exterior is nondescript (my Uber driver and I had a tough time locating it as their wasn't a sign out front that we could see) but it more than makes up for that on the interior!!!! So cute! Fabulous color schemes throughout and even has a cute living room area complete with adorable throw pillows, books and games; there's also a shared kitchen. When you walk out and head right, you right away, enter the Chinatown District of San Jose. I didn't realize that before getting here but loved it as it reminded me a lot of my beloved O'ahu 😍 Many enticing restaurants, dessert and sweet drink places to choose from. Overall, a great, affordable place to stay :)
