National park
Manuel Antonio National Park is a vast coastal rainforest reserve teeming with diverse wildlife and marine species. Visitors can enjoy guided hikes, kayaking in the Isla Damas Mangroves, and nocturnal wildlife sightings on a Jungle Night Walk. The park offers various activities such as sea kayaking and catamaran cruises. It is well-connected to Central Highlands, Arenal, Monteverde, South Pacific, and Osa Peninsula.
One of the best parks to visit in Costa Rica and a recommended spot for anyone visiting the country. Entrance fees can be paid ahead of time online(recommended). When you’re driving up be weary of unofficial people offering you tickets and guides. Additionally, the park does offer guides but I always opt for the self service tour. The park has an amazing nature trail that leads to a beautiful beach. Keep walking down the beach for another hike with some great overlooks and monkeys!
Adam T — Google review
Beautiful mix of rainforest, beaches, and wildlife. You can spot monkeys, sloths, and colorful birds along easy trails that end at stunning beaches. Go early to avoid crowds and heat. Small but unforgettable, one of Costa Rica’s must-see gems.
David V — Google review
Beautiful place. Fantastic guides able to spot an iguana or a snake from a hundred paces. Great knowledge and superb telescopic lenses to see howler monkeys, bats, etc up close. The park has stunning beaches.
Jackie G — Google review
Going here was a great experience! My girlfriend and I hadn’t really seen much wildlife on our Costa Rica trip. This was probably our last chance to see wildlife before heading home and it did not disappoint! Do yourself a favor and get a guide. We had Beatrice and she was outstanding! We saw all sorts of animals that I would have never spotted by myself. Not only that, but we learned a lot of history about Costa Rica in the process. Beatrice was incredibly knowledgeable and we were thrilled to have pictures and memories to take home with us. After the tour, we hit up the beach to relax for a while which was nice, and the water was fairly warm. Overall, a fantastic way to (almost) end our Costa Rica trip.
Michael J — Google review
The park is beautiful lots to see, I give it 3 stars because of the "guided tour" the park employees make it sound that without the tour guide you won't enjoy or see fauna. Not true, tours are expensive $30.00 per person to walk you on a clearly marked trail. We had to wait an hour to start the tour, originally offered for 3. At the end we had to wait a long time for the group to be complete. Ended up being 10 people! We couldn't hear the tour guide half the time. Very bad experience. I suggest you save your money and walk by yourself. There will be many of this groups pointing at the animals so you can see them and photograph them. BTW without a telescope or binoculars or a telephoto lens you will not see as much. So in a group of ten with only 1 telescope you have to wait everytime they stop and then rush for the next person to use it. Again, not worth the tours in my opinion. The place is gorgeous, two beautiful beaches and lots of vegetation.
Agustín M — Google review
Great park with lots of easy to mediocre parking, lovely beaches, and so much wildlife! We did end up getting a guide (Ricky) and he was fantastic and showed us lots and was very knowledgeable. The parking situation can be a bit overwhelming but like others have said, drive basically until you can't. You'll find the parking lot and just pay them. If you don't want a guide, just tell them you do and you're meeting them and they back off pretty quick. They can be pretty aggressive though which is annoying.
Billy H — Google review
100% recommended with kids. As many reviews say, no official parking available. Go directly to the gate and go back if there is no parking near the door (we have people stopping us 2km before the doors). We hired an official tour at the entrance and was great, his name was Kevin. Lots of animals and the beach was stunning.
Jesús D — Google review
Great place to see sloths and monkeys. The path is level and an easy walk most of the way. I was able to do it even with a knee injury and going at a slow pace. Beware of guides charging for tours. We were charged for a 2 hour tour that only lasted an hour. You will definitely need a guide with a scope so do your research and use a reputable tour guide service or get them once you enter the park. The beach is about about an hour walk into the park and you can not bring in food..drinks...sunscreen..check the list online before you go. It is best to bring a refillable water bottle with water in it as you are not allowed to bring in bottled water and buying food or water there is challenging. There is only one stand for the entire park and the line was ridiculously long. The beach is okay for a few quick pictures, but not anywhere I'd stay for an extended time. The sand area is not very wide so you risk having all your stuff get wet when waves come in. This happened to several family's in the short time I was there. The beach is also mostly covered in branches, twigs and dead leaves. The waves coming in can be rough and it was pretty crowded for a small beach. Overall definitely do the trails with a guide if you are looking to see any nature.

Manuel Antonio Beach, located within Manuel Antonio National Park, offers a picturesque sandy stretch where visitors can enjoy swimming while being surrounded by lush trees filled with monkeys and various bird species. The park spans seven square miles and boasts an incredible biodiversity, including capuchin monkeys, iguanas, crabs, sloths, pelicans, frogs, butterflies, and a variety of birds. Local guides enhance the experience by providing insights into the diverse wildlife.
So fun to be on this beach with all the locals! Get off the resorts and mingle — you’ll have an amazing experience! We stayed at the Millennium Hotel this time. You can walk right to the beach from there. You can get cabanas and surfing lessons — there’s parasailing and lots of restaurants.
Gayla G — Google review
My favorite beach in Costa Rica. Parking should cost you around $6-$8 per day Chair and umbrella rental about $8-$10 for a pair. Follow the safety guidelines and listen to the lifeguards. Pay attention to the flags as this is one of the beaches with the strongest rip ties.
Cecia A — Google review
Had the perfect beach day here. Perfect weather, lots of shade, clear blue water, and the wildlife and scenery is unmatched.
Lily B — Google review
For me one of the best beaches in whole Costa Rica for relaxing and especially swimming. It is part ot the national park of Manuel Antonio so you really need to book your tickets in advance. If there are sold out there is another possibily to enter. You can go directly to the main entrance of the national park and book a guided tour. I would generally recommend a official tour guide to see the animals in the park. Without it is really hard to see. After the tour you can stay all day long at the beach. So dont forget your swim things. Attention!!! On the way (street) to the parking slot you will be stopped by many people. They act (show an fact id) like they are tour guides from the national park but they are not offically. They try to sell you tours 2 to 3 times more than the offically prices. Be aware of this and dont buy tickets there. You can easily do this at the main entrance (also when online is sold out) or online.
Michael B — Google review
The walk to the beach was hot and humid (great anticipation) only to get to the beach and see how amazing the waves looked with a gorgeous view south
Lagan P — Google review
This beach is probably one of the best in the world. If you’re lucky enough to be here right when the sun is out then it’s your lucky day. The water is warm and there are jungle leaves floating in it which makes it feel magical. The white sand paired with the stunning jungle create the perfect scene. AND there are capuchin monkeys loitering around.
Farzad A — Google review
This beach has next level beauty. The Pacific has an emerald hue here. It gets very busy however, as it is attached to the most popular National Park in Costa Rica. My advice would be to go early and before your tour of the National Park to avoid the crowds. I visited here after the tour, and as the park rangers police this beach, they very forcefully make sure you are on your way home by 4pm. They blow their whistles loudly and continuously, which is kind of annoying. It does not take away from the stunning unspoiled natural beauty of this place. There is no plastic allowed on entry which is great, so you will be relieved of your plastic water bottle should you have one. They allowed me to bring my snorkelling gear in thankfully. The water is lovely and clear, so there is fish to see, but I ran out of time to really make the most out of that, due to that 4pm cut off. The sand is lovely and soft with a tint of black in there. There are also rinsing facilities and toilets behind the beach. The black iguanas co-exist side by side with people on this beach, that it becomes the norm after a while. Be careful of the many capuchin monkeys who will appear out of the rainforest, and are determined to steal your small items if given the chance.
Alan E — Google review
A must while visiting the National park. Get there early and enjoy a quieter beach and the warm waters of the Pacific. You’re guaranteed to see wildlife, but don’t bring any food to avoid the monkeys helping themselves.

Playa Las Gemelas is a beautiful and calm beach located in Manuel Antonio National Park. It offers stunning views and a tranquil atmosphere, making it a great place to relax for a day or two. The beach is known for its crystal-clear waters, perfect for swimming and snorkeling to see colorful marine life. Visitors can also enjoy the sight of iguanas climbing on trees but should be cautious as they may try to snatch food.
Beautiful beach and loved the walk though the park.
Marge R — Google review
Probably the best spot to relax after a walk in Manuel Antonio. There is rocks there everywhere so be careful and I really recommend bringing those rock shoes. It isn't that far away and has very warm water and almost no waves compared to the Escondido beach which is another beach in Manuel Antonio. If you don't really like rocks and want calmer water you can go to the main Manuel Antonio beach but there will be quite a lot more people there.
Max V — Google review
Nice beach with few iguanas lying on the rocks. End of November no point in snorkeling.
Dani K — Google review
We went late afternoon on 26 December and it was empty - full of beach crabs , huge iguanas and maybe even small crocodile spotted ? Wavy sea . A tad rocky . But very private and wild feel
MNML J — Google review
Calm beach inside the park. I liked it more than the public beach as there were no vendors trying to get you to buy stuff and I felt safer in there overall. Also spotted a couple of iguanas in there. Watch out for monkeys and racoon trying to go into your bags.
Xiaodan D — Google review
Beautiful beach, located in the Manuel Antonio National Park. The walk through the National Park has several routes which are are worth visiting. This beach in particular is very nice, the view it's imazing from this beach. You can see lots of iguanas on the beach, climbing on the trees. Don't feed them and be careful if you eat and they see you eat, they will try to take your food. A friend of mine was eating a sandwich when a iguana flew from a tree and has stolen the sandwich. We did not know these creatures were flying jajaja. Apart from iguanas and monkeys we didn't see any other animals on the Park on that day. Very touristic place, I guess animals go somewhere else higher into the mountains or hide when there are too many people around.
Ralu P — Google review
Probably the most wonderful beach I have ever been to. Great place to relax for a day or two. Remember to bring everything you need as there is nothing but sand, trees, rock and water around. And a lot of animals of course.

Espadilla Beach is a picturesque stretch of sandy coastline that offers various water sports, lounge chairs, umbrellas, and a shaded cafe nestled among the trees. While many tourists tend to visit the park's main beaches, such as Playa Espadilla Sur and Playa Manuel Antonio, there are other hidden gems worth exploring.
We spent almost 3 hours here, warm waters, soft sand, amazing sunset. The kids enjoyed the warm waters. We did pay to rent beach chairs and a canopy.
Sheleen T — Google review
Beautiful beach with rocks and a long shoreline. A lifeguard is also there as the rip currents can get bad. Lots of tide pools when it's low tide. Close to shops and restaurants and Manuel Antonio national park.
Tyler B — Google review
Beautiful beach. When visiting, park around the Igloo Beach Lodge. It’s free and there are no pushy parking attendants. There are some vendors walking around on the beach, but they peacefully continue when you decline.
Hendrik D — Google review
We had an amazing time at Playa Espadilla Norte in Quepos during our May visit. This stunning beach offered the perfect balance—waves that were exciting yet manageable, though it's important to stay vigilant as Costa Rican beaches can have powerful rip tides. The beach atmosphere was lively with local vendors offering fresh coconut drinks, horseback riding experiences, and handmade clothing. The vendors were respectful and moved on politely when we declined their services. The scenery is absolutely breathtaking. We recommend bringing your own beach towel, though chairs and umbrellas are available to rent at reasonable prices. We lucked out with beautiful weather before the rainy season kicked in, making it a memorable beach day.
Travel W — Google review
Best beach experience ever. Kids had 3 hours of surfing lessons and loved it. The instructors where phenomenal. They cared for the kids and taught them well. They definitely personalized the whole experience. We got concierge service with beach chairs and umbrella. The drinks and food were phenomenal too. Absolutely recommend this place.
Suraj E — Google review
Loved this beach! We got drinks from a vendor at the entrance of the beach and had a great early afternoon on the beach. There’s an LGBTQ beacon towards the middle of this beach and I wish I had more energy to check it out! Looks like they’re building a LGBTQ resort nearby. If you don’t have a car, I recommend going to the southern end of the beach more towards Manuel Antonio national park because this area is more for guests who are parking on the beach. The fumes from the trucks weren’t pleasant.
Megan B — Google review
Good beach for free parking! Lots of beach space where you can pay for chairs or walk down and sit in the shade. Parking is free but you can buy drinks or food from vendors on the beach.
Matt S — Google review
Public parking near Buena Vista Plus hotel. The beach is clean and beautiful. You can get everything you need for a full day here. Chairs, umbrellas, boogie board rentals. Sure lessons, and restaurants right on the beach for drinks and food.

Espadilla South Beach is a stunning stretch of white sandy beach located within the Manuel Antonio National Park. It is known for its pristine and undeveloped surroundings, offering a tranquil setting for swimming and sunbathing. The beach provides an excellent opportunity to observe local wildlife, including capuchin monkeys and iguanas. Visitors can also enjoy views of the nearby islands from this expansive shoreline. However, it's important to note that strong currents can be present in the area.
One of the top beaches in the world for sure
Shaun D — Google review
The beach is beautiful but it is quite a walk down from the entrance. We swam in the waters and loved it, but found Espadillo to be much calmer then Manuel Antonio (the opposite side). Don't leave your items unattended because of the monkeys. Changing rooms are pretty much just a stall so don't expect a rinsing area or mirror to be available.
Anthony M — Google review
Such an amazing beach, definitely better than the other side of the park. There are many spots with natural shade, perfect water temperature, clean water and fun waves. It felt like paradise
Rüya L — Google review
One of the best beaches. An amazing view with the lush trees. Other than the gritty sand with no nearby showers, the beach is a great spot to come to after seeing the reserve.
Ivan M — Google review
Playa Espadillo is a beautiful beach. It stretches a very long distance so you can get a good walk from one end to the other. The ocean has a gorgeous jungle back drop and the water is a perfect temperature. You can rent all types of water sports equipment and do different water activities from this beach. Remember, this part of Costa Rica is one of the most popular. The south end of the beach has the most people and is a destination for folks from all over the world, including people from all over Costa Rica, and is the entrance to Manuel Antonia Park. Parking is an issue all around Manuel Antonio beach in that hustlers run all the parking areas and demand money in order to park. We give them 2,000 colones, which is less than $4 dollars, regardless of what they ask for. Let them get angry, it's okay! You'll find the parking hustlers in Quepos and Manuel Antonio, but I haven't seen them anywhere else in Costa Rica. My advice, give them the parking fee, which helps support them and go and enjoy the beautiful beach, the warm water, and the tropical environment.
Mario M — Google review
Gorgeous long stretch of soft sand beach . We didn’t get to swim as the park rangers start closing down the park from 3 pm with. No swim after 3 policy - and even block your camera when you try to take a photo of the beautiful beach ! This forest and it’s beaches is beautiful but full of too many rules. In favour of the protection of wildlife is great but to not be able to take a photo past 3 pm or even be able to use the toilets after that time is just outrageous
MNML J — Google review
Superb beach surrounded by lush green forrest with monkeys. The bay is slighlty protected and water was warm and flat when visited. Espadilla main beach is more open and has good surf.
Sven D — Google review
Beautiful beach but waves are wild and be careful with the monkeys they steal..

Manuel Antonio National Park is a stunning natural reserve in Costa Rica, offering guided wildlife and beach tours through Hola Nature. The park is known for its diverse wildlife, including monkeys, sloths, and colorful birds. Visitors can explore the lush rainforest and relax on beautiful white sand beaches. Hola Nature provides knowledgeable guides who offer informative tours to help visitors learn about the park's biodiversity and natural wonders.
Beautiful Park! Yes, you have to wait in a line to get in, but it moves relatively quick. They do look through your bags to make sure you are not bringing food in FYI. Our group did not get a guide. We still saw lots of wildlife. In fact, sometimes we pointed out stuff that the passing guides did not see, and they were very appreciative. Beware of the monkeys by the beach. If you leave a bag and try and go for a swim they will try and get into your stuff. There is a cafeteria type of thing midway and bathrooms. We saw sloths, crabs, ground creatures, spiders, hermit crabs, and of course monkeys.
Mike W — Google review
Very nice park, nice beach, nice walk. It misses some lookout to have a better view of the park. Advice : if you want to see a lot of animals, take a guide, but you won't be able to do all the trails... Even if you spend the day in a park. There is also water point in the park to refill your bottle of water.
Benoit F — Google review
Worst meal ever. Don't go inside the cage. Parc is not the best from far, but beaches are nice! Don't go there to hike if you are used to. Some nice animals by the way

The on-site pool is perfect for relaxing, and the property even has its own charming restaurant with a full menu, great drinks, and friendly staff. Unlike typical hotels, this place offers a peaceful, uncrowded atmosphere that's perfect for unwinding. There’s also ample parking and a security guard on-site, which made us feel even more comfortable. Highly recommend!

We loved our 4 day stay at Igloo Beach Lodge! The staff is so friendly and warm, the rooms ("golf ball" we ended up calling it) are unique and fun, the pool was almost always vacant with a warm temperature, and the best part is the access to the beautiful beach; maybe a 90 second walk from the lobby/restaurant. Be aware that this is a very small "resort" though! Just a couple "igloos" and the small restaurant that doubles as the lobby/bar. It was small and quaint and it felt like home to us after just the first night. Pancho the cat and Nikki the dog were also big hits! Staff were very nice and kind to us.

My sister-in-law just returned from a week-long stay at the Igloo. We were disappointed at first that the pool was closed for maintenance, but we were offered discounts for lunch, and we found no need for the pool as the beautiful and surprisingly warm ocean was just steps away. The food, service, location and ambiance were perfect for us. The shower was warm and had plenty of pressure, the beds were comfortable, and there was plenty of room for us in the double igloo. We would definitely stay again, even if only to visit Nikki and Pancho Villa, the house dog and cat - along with the wonderful staff. Definitely recommend!

Excellent location, just a step away from the beach, and 10 min walk from the National Park, surrounded by jungle and wildlife. Very clean, friendly stuff, delicious food in the restaurant. The portion of the Breakfast is small, not enough, there is couple options, you can pick one, and it's delicious but for the adults it's way too small. And the restaurant is too expensive.

This was the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. The first red flag should have been when during checking in no one asked for our IDs, major security concern there. Whoever checked us in didn’t seem to caring about explaining to us about the hotel and clearly he doesn’t like his job. When we got to our rooms we could tell they haven’t been well kept. The beds were extremely uncomfortable and things didn’t seem properly cleaned. The bathroom sink is inside the room which looks strange. The bathrooms are tiny and the shower has no curtain or door. So water will get all over the floor as you shower. We found two bugs in our room and the towels had stains. There is an horrible echo throughout the room as you talk. The safes in the room all have the exact same code which is another security concern because that means that anyone can come in and steal your belongings. Overall an unpleasant stay. The property itself is just okay, there is nothing special about this place at all. I would never stay here again. The concept seems cool but you can tell it’s not being properly looked after. It was a huge disappointment. We ended up leaving early because my friend and I couldn’t stand to be in this place another second.

The accommodation is absolutely beautiful – the design and structure are so unique and thoughtfully crafted. You truly feel connected with nature here. The atmosphere is peaceful, the surroundings are lush, and the beach is simply stunning. An unforgettable experience!

I dont even know where to begin. The concept of this establishment is cool and I can see the vision. Unfortunately it is falsely advertised on its main page and third party websites. Online presentation is a lot cleaner and inviting that the reality in person. Upon arrival we were checked in by a man who showed us our room without any verification that we were who we said we were or confirmation of our identification as foreign travelers. Maybe the idea is to be laid back, I found this to be unprofessional. The igloo is unimpressive. A concrete orb with barely anything on the inside. The room is incredibly bare. So bare our television was missing a remote. I also found the ammentities to be sloppy and cheap. The towels had stains and our glasses were dirty. The dome shape created an annoying echoing. For the cost of the room and the expenses of a hotel that saves a lot in energy I am impressed at how cheap everything felt. A note on my missing remote, I couldn't find anyone at the front desk to help me. I wish I had read the previous reviews because many of them were spot on and I would not have stayed here. I left two days early. The only nice thing about this place are the animals that reside in the lobby area (a cat and dog) as well as the sweet cleaner lady.

Parking lot
When visiting the park, parking can be a bit of a hassle as there is no official parking area. Instead, visitors have to navigate through aggressive parking lot owners vying for their business. These individuals may even go as far as stopping cars in the street to persuade visitors to park in their lots and hire their guides. However, despite this inconvenience, some visitors find that the parked cars are safe and well-monitored with shaded areas.
Very close walk to the park entrance. Did not get "parked in". The lot operator checked to make sure we already had tickets (if you don't secure those in advance, you may park for nothing). Also offered us a fairly priced tour, which we declined. Was very nice, even though I had to pay with a large bill first thing in the morning. Lo siento, señor! 😁
Steve B — Google review
Good experience. What you see (a paid gated car park) is what you get. We paid 5.000 CRC, got a receipt for behind the car window, parked and walked two minutes to the National Parc entrance. That's it. Staff was friendly. The opening time until 3pm was clearly indicated. We came back at 3.30 pm to collect the car, which was no problem. There were still plenty of other parked cars. Only the staff was gone. Of course some guides offered their service on arrival but we didn't want one and it wasn't a problem. I can't give 5 stars because they call it "official parking" which is misleading. But I would park here again next time without hesitation.
Micky M — Google review
Avoid them, they are scammers. This is not the National Park’s parking. The national park does not have a car park, you park wherever you find. The guy obviously was looking for fools saying that the ticket we bought online was «only to visit the beach and not to see animals»! And we had to pay him 26USD on top so that we park the car and his tour guide to show us the park/forest. When we refused he said that parking only was 10usd but cash only. Just avoid.
Amy N — Google review
BEWARE SCAM!!! The so-called “Welcome Center” near the entrance to Manuel Antonio National Park is a well-orchestrated tourist trap and absolutely not affiliated with the official park. It is intentionally designed to look like a legitimate visitor center, but it is completely unauthorized. As you approach the area, aggressive workers dressed as tour guides will flag down vehicles in the road, pressuring visitors to pull over. Once you are stopped they will literally start opening your car door. They falsely claim that you are REQUIRED to park there and that they are the “official” tour guides of the park- NONE OF THIS IS TRUE. We were misled into believing this was the only way to access the park and reluctantly paid for what was promised to be a 1 hour 45-minutes to 2-hour guided tour. While our guide was polite and knowledgeable, the actual tour lasted just about an hour and the blatant dishonesty leaves a negative blemish on this beautiful country and its people. It’s important to know that the real entrance to the national park is further ahead. There is free street parking and other private lots. Do not pay more than $10 USD for parking. Once past the security checkpoint, you have access to paid lockers and can hire certified guides directly without falling victim to high-pressure tactics and incomplete service. This experience left us feeling deceived and frustrated. Don’t make the same mistake we did. Keep driving past this fake “Welcome Center” and go directly to the official entrance.
Philip B — Google review
I don’t agree that this is a scam. Normal big comfy parking, costs 10$. But at least you don’t leave your car next to a road. I see that people say its a scam because they pretend to be an official parking but they are not, but it does not really mater. No guides came to us or other unpleasant stuff that people write here. Although after 3pm there are no workers here, so no one is watching, but at least they do not close this parking so its ok if you leave later than 3pm.
Robertas P — Google review
What is the issue with paying $10 when you gladly pay $40 parking at Disney World. The parking was close by the entrance and the parking attendant’s assistant with parking. You’re not required to get a tour guide not needed to be honest.
Alex B — Google review
Great parking location. Kind park employees- bathrooms subpar (same as everywhere else) we ended up getting a guide at the parking lot for $100 U.S. (online it was $70 a person). Without Fernando, we would not have seen anything. We got back to the lot after the park closed and was approached by some scammer saying to pay for after hours parking. ( he had no badge, flips flips with socks and one was inside out haha) so I told him he didn’t work here and to leave use alone, he attempted again, when I got a bit more aggressive and he walked away to the next poor visitor to try and scam them.
Janaya P — Google review
We parked here to visit the park, it’s large and monitored and our car was safe and even had shade. This is probably the closest location to the front. We were offered a tour but were hesitant about buying something in a parking lot but we’re SO glad we did. Our tour guide Dylan was amazing and showed us so many animals and critters and explained so many things about the park that we would have missed otherwise, right down to the invasive bamboo that dried up a brook he used to swim in with his brother 20 years ago. He knew where to look in a lot of cases and caught a few less common things as well. At the end we were left deep in the park at a beach to explore and swim at our own pace. I would recommend to ANYone or group to take the tour here!

Escondido Beach is a picturesque cove located within Manuel Antonio National Park, surrounded by lush jungle and offering a sandy beach and swimming area. The park also provides access to other beautiful beaches like Manuel Antonio Beach and Espadilla Sur via low-intensity trails. While the beach is recommended for morning visits to avoid crowds, it's important to note that swimming may not be suitable due to rocky terrain and rough sea conditions. However, the stunning views make it worth a visit.
Incredibly picturesque beach. The sandy shores are encompassed by a forested jungle with some walking trails that make for easy exploration. Watch out for the raccoons because they will steal your bags! We resorted to storing ours in a tree while we swam in the ocean.

Nice long beach in PN Manuel Antonio but there waves there are quite big. If your experienced it might be a cool place with nearly no one around but the waves and occasional strong currents is why no one really swims there.

It’s a beautiful area, but the beach access is closed. You only find this out after walking down 25 meters of broken and damaged wooden stairs. There were plenty of opportunities to warn that the beach was closed and the broken stairs are just unacceptable!!

Restaurante Buru Seaside in Manuel Antonio is a popular dining spot located on the main road near the beach. While some reviews mention average service, others praise the efficient and friendly staff. The menu includes options like tuna steak, veggie pasta, and shrimp pasta that have impressed visitors, including a trained chef.
Best restaurant on the beach! We had lunch here five out of six days and some after beach. Cozy tables by the cove with palm trees and greenery, upstairs with a view of the beach. We tried several different dishes and everything was delicious. Fruit smoothie amazingly good! Good drinks at happy hour in an incredible sunset. The staff were pleasant, cheerful and attentive.

Excellent restaurant and bar right next to the beach. Have been twice in two days! Enjoyed both the happy hour and the delicious food (great casados and really good fish). Service has been amazing and super attentive. Wish I could add an extra star for the sloth sightings we had on both days. Gracias y pura vida 🙏

What a great spot! Excellent location right across from the beach. We went for breakfast and later returned for drinks and a sandwich — everything was delicious. We enjoyed it so much we came back the next day for lunch and had a perfectly fried red snapper, beautifully presented. The restaurant is clean, the staff is friendly and attentive, and the prices are very fair. Highly recommended — we’ll definitely be back.

Our hotel, La Vela Boutique, gave us two coupons for this restaurant which we wanted to use and had know idea what was in store for us. It is architecturally beautiful open air restaurant. Clean and well groomed. Our server was attentive and excited we were dining with them. Helpful to assist us selecting our meals. I had the fresh caught tuna, my son the chimichurri steak, my other son the filet mignon, my wife salmon and shrimp, and my picky daughter had a custom pasta and shrimp dish. In short, AMAZING! Seriously, the best meal of our trip. Our wine was excellent and the deserts: flan and the vanilla cake were delicious. Highly recommend!!

There was no signage on the street marking this restaurant, it's the Hotel Espadilla restaurant. I saw it had the best ratings in the area, so after a few days of underwhelming meals, I decided to give it a go despite the ripoff prices. I'm happy to report that everyone in my party found the food to be tasty and well prepared (two salmon dishes, carpaccio, and a pizza). One star down just because at $40 per person without any drinks it was very expensive.
H B — Google review
I have not been this disappointed by a restaurant in a very long time. I ordered the ribeye. For the side there were some veggies, which are the typical frozen veggie mix, just sauteed slightly in butter. Which would have been fine, if the steak was not just unedible. Extremely chewy and full of connective tissue, which made it hard to even cut with the knife. I left a third of the steak, I could not finish it. I cannot help but feel this is just a tourist trap since it's next to the national park. I could wholeheartedly recommend the Sebas restaurant in Uvita for amazing steaks and grilled fish (for a similar price as here). Probably one of the best steaks I had was there.

Loved eating here after the day at the national park. I had the quinoa risotto with mushrooms and guac, which sounds like it shouldn’t exist but WOW it was really good. My family enjoyed the fish tacos as well. Very calm vibe and perfect way to cool down after a hot day

Had a wonderful evening here tonight. The place is a little off the main road which makes it easy to miss, but it is definitely worth going to. Happy hour is from 5-7pm, half off their drinks which made them super affordable about $3 a drink. The bartender was superb and very friendly! All the drinks we ordered tasted so good! I really recommend the caipirinha! The waiters were very attentive and the food was great! Dinner dishes priced anywhere from about $12-23. We had the ceviche as an appetizer which was delicious! Then we got the yellow fin tuna served rare and the jumbo shrimp with coconut sauce and to top things off we got the tres torta for dessert. Everything was wonderful! The ambiance was beautiful, well lit with candles and string lights. I also enjoyed that they had a bar area for a more casual setting which you can eat at as well.

This restaurant is tucked away in the corner next to Manuel Antonio Park/Beach. This restaurant was very popular with the Tourist and may require a reservation for groups larger than 10. The food was pricey, but that is to be expected from this tourist spot. The food is fresh and made to order. I had no complaints from my experience.

This pristine park boasts 360-degree panoramic ocean views with gleaming turquoise waters. It features a well-equipped gym installation suitable for various exercises. Visitors can enjoy a leisurely stroll to the ocean and observe iguanas basking in the sun.
Nice small park. We came during the rainy season, so there was not much sun, but it was very cute. Only a couple of bunch and table at the entrance and a lot of gym machine. It's prohibited to smoke and drink alcohol. Take your trash with you to respect the land. We saw some nice birds. The beach is small and rocky. A police station is not far away, so it seems pretty safe.

Using the free WiFi here to write the review. Delicious plate of food for 3500 colones. Don't know if that's the actual price or tourist price. No matter it was super tasty. Service was efficient but not super helpful. Came during off lunch time around 1:30 pm. I'd recommend this place for a quick tasty meal. Clean tables and also TVs.

Ordered the most expensive item they sell: the fried fish, and it was brought to me deep fried but still completely frozen on the inside. It smelled funny too… the juice milkshake was super watered down and didn’t taste like anything. Not worth it.
Jess M — Google review
So here is the thing: the food is good and well priced. For example we ate a whole fish and fries and salad for 4000 colones. Casadas were about 2500 colones. Their juices and shakes were tasty for 500 to 1000 colones. However, sodas in Costa rica are not very well maintained in the sense that they look like cheap quick serve shops. They got benches and their food is served in an average manner. However it is good food. So dont judge the place by its looks. Go and try it. Especially their fish. So good. I recommend this place.

Manuel Antonio Nature Tours offers an incredible experience with knowledgeable guides who are passionate about showcasing the diverse wildlife in the area. The tours provide opportunities to see a variety of animals, including anteaters, sloths, monkeys, snakes, crabs, and bats. The use of tools like periscopes and phones ensures that everyone in the group can observe the wildlife simultaneously.
Went on a MANT just this afternoon, after booking late last night. First, the initial reach out and meetup information was clear, concise and accurate. The scene at the park entrance can be a little chaotic, so this was greatly appreciated. Our tour was with Felix, who was incredibly knowledgeable, and very engaging. We saw an amazing variety of wildlife, and were thrilled we everything we saw. Felix’s insights regarding the wildlife and the environment of the park further enhanced our experience. I cannot recommend MANT enough. Great job. Thank you.

This was my favorite tour in Costa Rica! The guide was so friendly and knowledgeable. You could tell how much he loved and respected nature, which I appreciated. We saw many animals, took lots of pictures and had a wonderful experience. Highly recommend them!

I had a wonderful private tour of Manuel Antonio. My guide Karen was very knowledgeable. She shared information on the animals, birds, insects and lizards we saw. As well as the plants and the park itself. Booking the 7am tour was perfection. Relatively few other folks in the park, by the time our tour ended at 9 the crowds where starting to arrive. Our tour started out with a bit of rain, Karen did offer an umbrella, but I declined and despite the rain we still saw many interesting things. I highly recomend Manuel Antonio Nature Tours.

Edwin was simply amazing!! He was so knowledgeable. He asked what we wanted to see and he checked everything off our list. If you are wondering if you should hire a guide, you absolutely should!! We wouldn't have seen most things without Edwin's eye. We were able to see an anteater, sloths (3 and 4 toed), howler monkeys, white faced monkeys, a snake, crabs, bats and many plant species. Edwin uses the periscope but then his phone so everyone in the group can see everything all at the same time. Many of the guides have people look through the scope one at a time, so if an animal moves, it might get missed. He also captures the photos and videos and shares them with you afterwards. It was an AMAZING experience. We couldn't recommend him more. He was also great with our teenagers. He was also funny! Thanks, Edwin!!!

Edwin is a great guide. He doesn't rush through the park like the other guides. He takes his time and find all kind of hidden animals. He's very knowledgeable and very nice. The fresh fruits at the end is a plus! Thank you for giving us a great experience at the Manuel Antonio Nature park.

We highly recommend Manuel Antonio Nature Tours. Francisco, our private guide, was so knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the plants and wildlife in the park. His English skills are so good. He expertly navigated all the phases of the beginning of our tour such as locating toilets, getting us quickly and calmly through the entrance checkpoint, and explaining how the spotting scope works. During the rest of the tour, he described the park's plants and animals in detail and with wonderful stories and analogies. We finished the tour with colorful photographs and videos from the spotting scope to take home.

Manuel Antonio Nature Reserve & Wildlife Refuge is a popular destination in Costa Rica, known for its abundant wildlife and beautiful beach. Visitors recommend hiring a guide to spot the diverse animals that inhabit the park, as they are often difficult to see on your own. The park can get busy, and there are warnings about potential scams, but the guided tours offer valuable insights into the area's flora and fauna. The walking paths are well-maintained and suitable for families with children.
Beautiful park and beach but we got totally ripped off with the guides. They are eye-watering $$$ and we didn’t think we needed them but they were so insistent about the parking not being secure and that we wouldn’t see any wildlife so we buckled. It was $180 for two of us!!!! And not worth it at all. The park is beautiful. Find somewhere to park, get your own ticket for around $18 per person and do not hire the guides that are hustling and standing in the middle of the road. Bring swimwear as the beach is beautiful.

First I thought the entrance, parking and tour guide package is quite overpriced - but I have to say Ricardo made everything worthwhile. He is a great guide who knows and loves what he’s doing. We saw so many animals and were able to relax afterwards at the beautiful many (secluded) beaches. Would recommend 10/10
Esra P — Google review
The place in Costa Rica we saw the most wild life. From bats, to monkeys, to sloths and iguanas. I really recommend you to get a guide though, they know in which places you can spot certain animals. As they have the equipment to get a nice view on some wildlife so it's well worth the money. You can't take any food or beverage inside but there's a cafeteria inside the park. Just be advised that it can be a long wait on peak lunch hours. Finally, the beaches at the end of the hike are gorgeous as well and less touristy than the main Manuel Antonio one.
Bram V — Google review
The park did not impress me much, I expected a bit more. There are very few animals. We arrived before the opening at 7am, and this is the best time! Do not come later. It is very rare to spot a sloth without binoculars. We saw two very high up in the trees and only one in a good view. There are lots of capuchins and they are adorable. The guides are pushy, and they are mean inside the park. One guide got angry and complained at us if we stood and looked at an animal in front of his binoculars, as if it was his private property, which is absurd. It was not a pleasant thing, everyone just wants to see the animals. To be honest, we saw no fewer animals just living in Manuel Antonio, in the nearby beaches and even on the streets on the way to the beach :)

The reason for your visit to the area? The park itself is nice, lots of walking paths and built walkways. It was a slow day and we saw one bird, no other wild life. The beach area is wonderful, but overall it was way too organized for us.. We should of known by the online ticket sale and the complications .. We were there 19 years ago, sometimes progress is a problem.

Beach is nice Too many people very little wilderness I was hopping to see more animals or at least not too far from people you have to use binoculars most of the time. No birds, very few monkeys If you are in the area sure visit but is not a must go. I hired a private guide direct from hotel. Everything was smooth

The park itself is nice but extremely crowded even from 7 a.m. Parking is crazy, apparently there are scammers offering parking spaces posing as the parks workers and then charge you C10.000 on top of your 16$ tickets. On the shorts stroll to the parks entrance we were harassed by 3 different people posing as guides very aggressively trying to sell us guided tours for another C40.000. I don’t understand why the park does nothing about this. On the parks page it said water and soft drinks are allowed but at the entrance our bottled water was taken away. But don’t worry, you can buy bottled water in the parks cafeteria for a whopping C4.500. In the park at 8 a.m they were pressure washing the grounds and scaring the animals when the park only works till 3 p.m. and this can be done when the park is closed. The park is nice, we did see some monkeys and sloths and many many iguanas. Sadly the experience overall was not great. If you are planing to stay in Costa Rica, do yourself a favour and go to the Caribbean side where the parks are much cheaper and calmer, towns are safer.

I am really tempted to put a fourth star on this place since the nature is beautiful, but we had a lot of issues getting there. First of all, they stop you on the road several times to get you to park to their place and get you a guide to an exorbitant price! Do not trust them at all. We finally went to the end of the road and parked at the restaurant. I recommend doing the same. It costs like 6 or 7$ for the whole day, and they do not make you pay if you eat there before 4pm. To enter, you need to previously book you ticket but it can only be made ONLINE. Our connection was very bad there and we only made it thanks to the help of a very nice employee of the place. Otherwise we would have been out only because they do not sell physical tickets. We did not get a guide since it was really expensive. If you like to explore on your own I think that it’s the best solution: we still saw a lot of animals and got to choose our path and pace. There are also some board along the path to teach you interesting information. A nice thing to know is that you cannot bring food of any kind, even in a container. For the water, you can bring a reusable water bottle and fill it there on the different available fountains along the trails.

Beach
Playa La Macha is a secluded and beautiful beach located near Quepos, accessible by a short walk and hike. It's known for its seclusion and pristine natural surroundings, making it a popular spot for those looking to escape the crowds. Accessible by 4x4 or a challenging jungle hike, the beach offers stunning views and opportunities to observe wildlife in the Manuel Antonio Jungle. Visitors should be prepared for a steep and rough trail with significant elevation gain on the return trip.
Beautiful secluded beach. We were told it was nude-friendly although there weren’t any completely naked people here when we went. A bit of a hike to get there, so make sure you have comfortable hiking shoes, especially for the last part of the hike to the beach. From the sign in the picture, you can drive down a little farther (an SUV or vehicle with 4-wheel drive is recommended). There is a point on the trail where you can’t drive any farther. We did see a couple on a motorbike with wheels with good tread on them make it all the way to the point where the steep hike to the beach starts, but most people hike on foot the whole way. The hiking trail splits, so make sure you make a right to go to La Macha beach. Before going down the steep trail, there is a pathway on the left that has a nice overlook of the ocean. We accidentally went that way before going down the trail to the beach. You know you’re on the right trail when we see the ropes that help you get down to the beach. This part of the trail is VERY steep (flip flops not recommended). I was wearing Chacos the whole hike. Once you get down to the beach, enjoy the peace and calm. No vendors here. Every group we saw kept to themselves. If you want a quiet and secluded beach and don’t mind the hike to get there, this beach is definitely worth the trip. Make sure you have enough energy to climb back up the trail as it is pretty much all uphill. I would recommend packing at least water and a few snacks on your trip to and from this beach.
Harley C — Google review
The end of the hike is extremely steep with only 1 rope which is about 15 feet to go down maybe 100 ft drop off which is smooth dirt. I am sure the beach is amazing but our kids were not prepared for a serious climb. I would suggest if you have any mobility issues or kids under 10 to not attempt.

This beach is incredibly stunning and secluded. As many have mentioned, reaching it involves quite a challenging hike. If you're accustomed to moderate hikes in North America, you should manage just fine. However, be warned if you plan to hike in extreme heat. It was 36 degree the day of the hike, and my partner almost passed out on the way back up. Bring plenty of water and limit the time spent under the sun. It's worth mentioning, though, despite some reviews suggesting otherwise, I doubt this beach is clothing optional. There were no signs indicating such, and all visitors during my time there were fully clothed. It's a shame, as it would have been wonderful to skinny dip and immerse oneself in nature at this magnificent beach. Nonetheless, you should have a wonderful time here at Playa La Macha.

After travelling for over a week on the pacific coast, I can say that this is the best beach we went. The place is quiet and beautiful, there’s a short hike that makes it feel like a reward, and if you bring food you can stay there all day and watch the sunset. Also perfect for swimming nude, it even had some “clothing optional” signs
Pablo O — Google review
Great little secluded beach at the edge of the city. Be ready for a short hike with a lot of elevation gain on your way back. Also the trail is decent except for the final decent down to the beach.
Shawn C — Google review
This was a beautiful place. Tons of wildlife & quiet. Always waking up to a beautiful view. -4 them is I think there was some false advertising as far as location and walk to the beach. The beach itself with which they claim you can get to by 5 minutes of walking and only walking. Was actually a hike that takes you about 15 to 20 minutes of jagged slippery rocks and mud. The food was great every morning having breakfast of fresh fruit. The home was always cared for and clean. They do need to possibly pave the driveway or I should say the road up to the home as it is Rocky bumpy hard to drive through if you have a rental car or do not have a 4 by 4.
M. M — Google review
Perfect hidden secluded beach. You have to go early in the morning before noon-ish when the high tides roll in. There is quite a trail about 15 minutes before you get to the beach. I suggest you have good shoes because the trail is a little rough. Worth the walk though! Glad we did it!
Anna Y — Google review
Didn't make it all the way to the beach due to not wearing the correct footwear to traverse the last 100ft down (steep incline with ropes halfway, and slippery dirt path) but the beach was secluded, minimal rocks in sand. Advice, plan for at least half a day stay to make it worth the hike. Wear footwear with good traction that will stay on the feet (no sandals). As others have said, elevation gain coming back up is steep.

Really fun! They have great staff, and it's pretty affordable for 6 people. I did the 15 minute package for 2 groups of 3 + a 30 minute jet ski rental. It cost about $700 for that, and I think that is super reasonable for the amazing experience they deliver. They were very friendly and accommodating.

Awesome day!!! The parasailing was super relaxing and gorgeous views. Miguel knew we wanted more adventure and understood the assignment. We ended up renting two jet skis and toured around the pacific coast of Manuel Antonio and it was truly a moment of a lifetime!!! Thanks, Miguel and team for making our last day in Costa Rica the most memorable!

I went up with my friend. She got motion sick and we had to come down early. This company was so amazing they offered to take me back up by myself!!! I was totally blown away with that offfer! This place is 10/10 would recommend!!! Look no further if you want to parasail!!

Our family of 6 had the most amazing time parasailing and jet skiing. Miguel and his team were very attentive and most accommodating. We were picked up and dropped off from our Airbnb. We were never rushed or pressured into any activities. Great customer service and we will definitely be using Aguas Azules any time we’re back in Manuel Antonio area. If you’re hesitant about booking your excursion, don’t. Just do it and it’s definitely worth it.

Simply the best! This was hands down the best experience. We did the triple (grandparents plus 8 year old). No drama. Very safe. Well explained and no surprises. Our grandson said it was “amazing”. We went off the beach and landed gently in the water where we were picked up by a jetski. So well done. No need for concern at any point. Thank you to all the wonderful staff associated with this business. Charlie says thank you!

Manuel Antonio Official Guides Tours & Tickets offers the convenience of purchasing tickets online in advance, requiring your passport number for registration at the park entrance. This official office provides guided services at reasonable prices for a 2-hour tour with licensed guides and high-quality equipment. The ticket is included in the price. The authorized Park Guides Association by SINAC offers guiding services within Manuel Antonio National Park, ensuring a memorable experience with knowledgeable guides who can spot various wildlife, including sloths.
We did the tour with Nicole. She was an amazing guide today. We saw so many animals that otherwise we would have been unable to spot if it weren't for her knowledge and dedication. Our wish was to see sloths and Nicole made sure to go above and beyond to find one for us, which is not always common to see. We also saw fake chameleons, squirrel monkeys, iguanas, beautiful moths, lizards and learned a lot about plants, fruits, fun facts about animals and their interactions with nature. If you go to Manuel Antonio Park make sure to ask for Nicole who is an official tour guide inside the park. Do not fall for people offering you tours on the street or parking even if it is for a couple bucks less.

Getting a guide in this national park is really recommendable - and we had one of the best with Aaron! He was really great, listened to our wishes and found a lot of animals about which he had great knowledge. It’s really difficult to find the animals by yourself and even if you do, you won't be able to see them as clearly as with the guides telescope which is really cool. The park was a little crowded in some main paths but you can also find quiet corners and overall it's an incredibly beautiful place that I would recommend everyone to visit (and don't forget your swimwear to enjoy that incredible beachs!). Thanks Aaron for making our experience here so perfect!

My husband and I had an absolutely phenomenal experience with our tour guide at Manuel Antonio National Park. We came to the park not planning on getting a guide, but decided at the last minute to hire one and we are SO glad we did. It is worth every penny! We lucked out and it was just the 2 of us with the guide. He gave us the best tour ever- he spotted all of the wildlife, even the smallest and most hidden things! If it weren’t for him, we wouldn’t have seen the things we did. He even took photos through his scope for us. He was incredibly knowledgeable about all of the flora and fauna in the park, as well as the history. He was full of wonderful facts. He went to school for this so he is a true trained professional. Any questions we had, he had an answer to. He gave us his full attention and effort. Not only is he knowledgeable in his field, he was also friendly, funny and easy to chat with. We were able to spot white faced monkeys, howler monkeys, two toed and three toed sloths, crabs, toucans, iguanas, deer, bats, birds, mushrooms, and bugs! I highly recommend to anyone coming to the park to book a guide with the park! Wait till you get inside to hire your guide. Don’t bother with outside companies. It was a 2 hour tour and he fit in so much for us. Thank you for everything you did for us- you helped make our first visit to this beautiful park so special!

We had a great experience with this tour at Manuel Antonio Park. Originally, we tried to book with an outside tour company, but they were sold out for the day. We decided to try to find a guide after arriving at the park and I'm really glad it worked out that way. However, make sure to go inside the park to the booth that is to the right of security to find the official guides. We were approached by several individuals outside the park asking if we needed a guide. They had some sort of badge, but were not official guides. The official tour group accommodated our family of 5 immediately and it was a fantastic experience. We were lucky to have Andre as our guide. He is a biologist and was able to spot animals in many places that we would have completely missed. In fact, except for the iguana on the path, we wouldn't have seen anything without Andre's expert eye. He was very knowledgeable about the plants and animals within the park and nature in general. There wasn't a question of ours that he couldn't answer, and the pictures he took of the animals for us turned out beautifully. I highly recommend going through the official guides for a tour and definitely suggest asking for Andre!

We had the best day ever with Dagoberto! He was truly the best tour guide we could have asked for, we saw so many animals including a sloth, barramundi, many lizards, and howler monkeys. He also knew so much about birds and plants. I would absolutely recommend this company for anyone looking for knowledgeable tour guides to get the most out of your day at Manuel Antonio park.

Amazing tour with Andrew! I fully recommend doing a tour with a private guide. You will spot many more animals and be able to observe them closely with instruments. Here is the picture of the same insect with and without a guide. You can ask for a private tour directly upon arrival at the entrance gate.
Mathilde B — Google review
We decided to book the official guided tour, which was a bit hard to find on their website, but it was absolutely worth it. Nicole was an excellent, enthusiastic, and friendly guide, who went out of her way to give us the best experience we could ask for. We had the fortune of seeing many wonderful creatures while having Nicole gave us interesting fact after interesting fact. We visited in May, and while we booked a group tour, we were the only ones there for the tour. Ignore all the scammers and aggressive sales people on your way into the park (the only negative about the area). The park is definitely worth it, especially with a guide like Nicole.

So my friend and I almost went into the park without a guide and sweet Dagoberto came up to us and offered to take us into the park and help show us animals and plants. Well let me tell you that he absolutely made our experience. We wouldn’t have been able to see half the things if it weren’t for him. We saw a sloth, monkey, snake, birds and many other animals. He was such an excellent guide! Thanks for your kindness and the wonderful afternoon!

Manuel Antonio National Park, established in 1972, is a stunning and biodiverse area in Costa Rica. Visitors rave about the abundance of wildlife, including sloths, toucans, monkeys, and more. Many recommend taking a guided tour to fully appreciate the fauna and gain insights into the flora. While there may be scammers outside the park, legitimate tour guides like Wilbreth provide an amazing experience by spotting wildlife and ensuring visitors have a memorable time.
What a great day! You need to buy your tickets a day or more prior to arrival. Know the rules to get in. They will take your plastic bottles, plastic bags, food, and sugar packets. Know the location of the official parking. Lots of people trying to get you to park on the beach a distance from the park entrance. Parking is $10. Tickets come with a timed entry with a 40 minute window. There is a long line to get in: a security check followed by ticket check. Tours and individuals are all in the same line. You can sign up for a tour on arrival. Expect a lot of tour hustlers trying to sign you up for a tour just after the ticket booth. Even if you aren’t in a group, you’ll know where to stop to see the animals. The tour operators all stop at the same places to see the wildlife. They have scopes for better views, but I don’t feel like we missed much going on our own. There is a restaurant and gift shop at the trail junction. We had planned to eat there since we couldn’t bring food in. However, the lines were long with only 2 people working so we gave up. Just up the hill is a set of toilets. When we were there, only 1 toilet stall was working in the women’s room. If those have long lines, 5 minutes down the path is another set of toilets. This one has 2 toilets and 2 changing rooms, although 1 of the changing rooms doesn’t have a door. As you continue down the hill, there’s a beach on the left. Further down is a beach on the right. The water is calmer at the beach to the left and there’s more afternoon shade. The trails are well marked and well maintained. Some of them do require a bit of climbing. There are alot of places to refill your water along the trails. You do not need a guide to see the monkeys and iguanas - they are all over the place – along the trail and at the beach. They know how to open backpacks. We saw a monkey come down from the trees and start to open someone’s backpack before it was chased away. You cannot leave your stuff on the beach near the trees or it will get stolen by the monkeys! The park closes at 4p. Park rangers clear the beaches at 3. The day was lovely here. We had an 8am timed entry ticket. We got to see lots of wildlife in the morning. After about 4 hours of hiking, we settled on to the beach for several hours. It was a great way to cool off from the heat and humidity. This is a great park but expect LOTS of people.

The park was nice but getting into it was very stressful. We did not know that one needed to book the tickets on-line in advance. We walked to the park. The multiple scammers on the way to the park stopped us, where the sign said 1km to go. With urgency on their faces and voices, they directed us to the "booking table to buy the tickets". They wanted "$60 per person to enter the park with a guide from the beach side" instead of $16 dollars per person, that you pay on-line. The internet reception in the area was very poor so we struggled to book the tickets on-line, but succeeded at the end. The booking website required creation of an account and was looking for the passport numbers but you could enter any 6 numbers, that you liked. We visited many parks in Costa Rica. This was the only one, where they did not allow to bring water and any food into the park. You could buy the food, water and other drinks in a cafe inside the park at very high prices. We paid $6 for a locker at the park entrance to leave out water and snacks in. We really needed those on the way out of the park. The beach inside the park was very nice with quiet waters. It also had toilets and showers near by, which we did not see at other beaches in Costa Rica. Costa Rica prides themselves as a prosperous country. We found the prices on food, travel, accommodation, entrance tickets, mobile internet same or higher than in EU, so I don't think "it's a poor country". In many places they only accept cash which probably helps the citizens to remain prosperous.

One of the highlights of our trip to CR! We were lucky to spot so many animals: baby sloth, toucans, lizards, iguanas, monkeys, snakes, humming birds, and many many more. It was amazing! Make sure to go with a guide though, without him we would spot like 5% of fauna and we would not have any background insights about the flora. Guided experience was amazing!

The nature is 5 ⭐️: the beautiful beaches, the jungle, the animals, don’t get me wrong (see the pictures attached). But the fact, that it is one of the most popular Nationalparks in Costa Rica leads to people trying to catch you kilometers before the main entrance offering you a (half-official) parking (don’t! just pass by!). When you are at a nearby parking, the parking ticket is then offered in connection with a tour, what is completely senseless here. People are quite invasive here, we never experienced this elsewhere in 🇨🇷! In the parks we were disappointed by the maintenance of the tracks and viewpoints. From the hikes to the 5 viewpoints we did, 3 were closed (the path ended before the viewpoints). Yes it’s fire sure not easy in a climate like this to maintain pathes, crossings and bridges, but that’s one thing where the entrance money should be invested for.

Our guide, MOP, was not only highly knowledgeable of all of the wildlife in the park, but he spotted all of the animals and critters before any other guide. He also made sure that we all had ample time to see each animal and answered all of our many questions with patience (and funny jokes!). He was an absolute pleasure to spend the morning with, and his over 25 years of experience as a guide really showed as he knew so much about all of the surroundings and beyond. It was an incredible experience. Highly recommend! And Randy made meeting them at the park so easy. Definitely book with this crew

Parking Scammer on the road!! Be aware As you driving to the park entrance, there are scammers standing in the middle of road blocking and asking if you are going to the park or beach. You should ignore and keep driving until you see the park entrance. One of the scammers knock down the side view mirror aggressively. The park doesn’t have official parking. Private parking usually cost 4000 CRC / 7USD

The park features two distinct beaches that offer a perfect blend of relaxation and adventure.
Alex was our guide and honestly truly made the experience for us. Not only was he knowledgeable but he was truly passionate. He gave us so much information on what we saw and answered every question with a smile. He made sure everyone saw every animal through his scope and allowed us to get pictures or videos. Reto Mae is a 5-kilometer hike in Manuel Antonio that offers stunning panoramic viewpoints and access to five hidden cove beaches. The trail winds through dense jungle, providing opportunities to spot various monkey species and other wildlife. Hikers should follow pink ribbons to stay on the trail, which can be challenging to find but rewards with secluded beaches and breathtaking views of the coastline.
Bring water! This is a nice hike to get away from the crowds, and to get to a beach that you may just have to yourself. Using All Trails, I walked to the trailhead from my hotel in Quepos with little problem. The trailhead is marked fairly well. You will be surrounded by nature from the get go. Be observant, look up after looking for your step. I went during dry season, so not too bad for footing. You will go up before going down to the beach. This incline got me worn out quick with the heat and humidity, so do be aware of your limits. Bring water, good hiking shoes, and swim attire (optional). The first beach is amazing! Sandy areas, nice warm water with small waves when I was there. 2 other people in a 4 acre area for 1/2 an hour. It was nice man. I did want to hike the entire 2.3 miles before turn around, but after getting to Playa La Vaca, I noped on out. My ass was beat from hiking in the heat. I'm just not used to the humidity, it will get to you, but great hike man.
Phillip L — Google review
I am only giving it one star because we found it impossible to continue after just beginning! The trail head and nearby parking were easy enough. Someone was kind to put a cord to grab for the 1st descent, but at the bottom of that, it was such a deep, washed-out rut that we didn't continue. Also, we were not sure about the possibility of poisonous snakes along the trail, so we felt better about turning back.
Angie A — Google review
This is a rough route that can be difficult to follow. I would advise this only for experienced hikers. The trail is overgrown and hard to follow. I got off track and had to reference AllTrails several times. There are signs a few places saying the trail is closed. It is possible to continue the whole way though. l assume some of the resorts just don't want people crossing their beaches. If it's rained recently there will be mud. There are steep uphills and downhills throughout. Taking breaks to swim at some of the secluded beaches was a highlight.
Jeffrey P — Google review
The ladder is broken. Beautiful, rugged. My family 6, 8, 17 and I hiked it in the rain. It's definitely dangerous - muddy and slippery steep climbs on trails at the edge of high cliffs. 100% would do it again.
George S — Google review
Hotel Tulemar posts signs saying that the trail is closed. Don't trust those: restricting access to beaches in CR is illegal. On Feb 8, 2025 I went to their beach from Playa La Vaca, then back and all the way to the trailhead, which is in the neighborhood of the Police station. Did not check the trail beyond Playa Tulemar though.
Galina O — Google review
We walked from the main road down Calle Parador to catch the trail to Playa Biesanz. Nice calm cove. Snorkeling equipment rental was poor quality and not much to see. Paddleboards also available. A bathroom there for $1. From there we took the trail to Playa Sonia. Great waves. A bar there as well, and a private road that led up to a hotel. We then hiked to Playa Tulemar. Truly beautiful- rolling waves, not too crowded. Monkeys. A sloth in a tree right above us. But we were not permitted access to leave Reto Mae for the main road from there, so had to backtrack almost all the way to Biesanz. Take plenty of water and food. Get out of the woods within 30 minutes of sunset. Be aware that some roads that go down towards the trail or the beaches are private, and security guards do not let you pass no matter how good your reason or Soanish is. Lots of up and down, have the all trails map because there are some intersections that don’t have pink ribbons. Great hike and challenging due to heat/ humidity.
Ellen F — Google review
Long (10km +, around 3 hours) and difficult hike between Quepos and Biesanz beach. Bring plenty of water and good hiking shoes. Worth it for the views and if you like a challenging hike. Make sure to always follow the pink ribbons. You can exit the trail in different areas but if you plan on doing the entire trail, be prepared, and avoid if you’re not fit
Antoine R — Google review
The trail is technical and requires some descends by plastic cord. Footwear with good traction is necessary. Bring lots of water and follow the pink ribbons. Just beyond the initial trail down to the water is a ladder that can be climbed to see wild monkeys leaping through the trees.

Parasailing Manuel Antonio offers an exhilarating adventure that perfectly complements the stunning backdrop of Costa Rica's central Pacific coast. Nestled between lush rainforests and pristine beaches, this activity allows you to soar high above the breathtaking scenery while enjoying a unique perspective on the vibrant wildlife below. Many visitors have shared their unforgettable experiences, highlighting how safe and enjoyable the entire process is—from takeoff to landing.
We had a great time. All was safe and the video drone footage came out beautiful. Not sure what the negative reviews are whining about. You are sitting in a harness for the duration. Take off was swift and gentle. I was glad we didn’t have to sit through a safety video or sign a meaningless waiver. Splash down was smooth too, the life vest kept us afloat till the boat came and detached us from the parachute 🪂, then the jet ski took us back to shore. Really stunning to see the world from up there with your feet dangling hundreds of feet above the ocean. Anyone who who is negative here should grab their entitlement latte, fix their bean bag and stay home, really! The people running this outfit are the nicest most accommodating folks. Manuel told us that they started 11 years ago with one boat. Now the have a crew that swiftly and safely operates with boats and jet skis and gets you in the air without a hitch. They knew what they were doing. For example I weigh 210 lbs and my girlfriend 115. They adjusted the harnesses to make sure that all is balance and I don’t weigh it down on one Side. We will be back again soon.

Unforgettable experience! We were helped with the initial run and holding the bar which is heavy and before we knew it we were up flying. Amazing sight from above. The descent was very smooth . (We are both in our early 70's😊) An amazing experience not to be missed. The only down was that we didn't get the video we were promised...
Maria — Google review
I did not plan on parasailing when I arrived at the beach, but it was on my wife's bucket list, and these guys were right next to where we set up. Our family of four (including 9 and 7 year olds) had a great time. Our takeoff was fine, and our landing was smooth. The views were spectacular!
Daniel O — Google review
***DO NOT RISK YOUR LIFE WITH THEM*** No safety standards whatsoever. The people who attach the sails were reckless and didn’t care. Following their instructions we got into an accident and had to go to the hospital without any support from their staff at all. No first aid, no emergency services or support. No remorse. Not surprised at all to see so many others share similar experiences, wish I googled them before going. DON’T MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE
Ibaad S — Google review
I dont recommend it at all. They have some real BAD customer service and cut you a much shorter ride than they say you'll pay for. They'll usually be the last on the beach, so just wait until the next day or a different beach to experience parasailing. Don't let them guilt trip or pester you.
John M — Google review
Do Not use this company at Manuel Antonio. They said there would be video and photos included in the package, there were none. They said the ride would be 20 minutes. It was 10 minutes. I wanted a partial refund and all of happy employees could not speak English once I told them I was unhappy. My kids almost crashed taking off due to the inexperienced and few employees there to get them in the air. After spending a few days at the same beach, I see this parasailing company has many less, untrained workers than the other parasailing company. DONT USE THIS RIPOFF COMPANY!!!!!!!!’
Mark M — Google review
Terrible customer service. They treat you like they dont want to be there. They offrred us lockers which was a lie. Some equipment is broken and everything is done harshly
Ytclip S — Google review
I almost just lost my life parasailing with this company! NEVER AGAIN ! Poorly trained staff caused our parasail to lose air and we crashed right into the middle of the ocean! Smooth sailing for the first 10 minutes, the boat driver began a sharp turn and suddenly we began to drop down due to not enough wind to support us! This was the scariest moment of my life! I was screaming help us! Help us! While dropping down and it took minutes before they even noticed our shoot was falling!!! They were looking ahead not paying attention!! Since there was no time to unhook ourselves the heavy metal bar weighed us down! It even felt like we were still being dragged by the moving boat! My boyfriend nor I know how to swim! If it wasn’t for our life jackets we would have drowned! We were so far out it took what felt like a long time for the jet ski to rescue us. In that area there are boulders in the ocean thank God we were in the middle and not too close!! Once on shore I was shaking uncontrollably damn near in shock and the staff knew they made a terrible mistake so they offered me free beach chairs and water to calm down trying to reassure that I was OK! Now seeing the similar reviews I wish I would’ve known they are not well trained. PLEASE PLEASE NEVER FLY WITH THIS COMPANY. ITS DANGEROUS :(

We toured the Manuel Antonio national park. We booked a morning tour and the animals were out and about. Our tour guide Vivian was so sweet and took her time to explain everything. I highly recommend visiting the park.

Biesanz Beach is a hidden gem located just south of Quepos, offering visitors a tranquil escape with its crescent-shaped bay and soft sandy shores. This picturesque beach is shaded by trees and features shallow waters perfect for swimming, making it an ideal spot for families. The calm conditions here mean that large waves are rare, creating excellent opportunities for snorkeling and kayaking adventures.
We loved this beach. It is a little remote and requires a hike to get to. The views are great! The beach is nice and the water is in a bit of a cove so there's waves but they're not huge. There are vendors renting chairs and coverings as well as fresh made drinks that are great. There's even a lady giving massages under a tent up on the rocks directly overlooking the beach which we didn't try. No one is too pushy but are all friendly. The only downside is there's a decent amount of rocks out in the water if you wear water shoes or sandals it's fine. Barefoot was a bit tough on my tender feet .
John H — Google review
The beach is alright the waves are calm there are however many rocks and the path down is muddy and also full of rocks, the water is nice and green/aquamarine and has a great view of the bay.
Juan W — Google review
Very beautiful and peaceful quiet beach where you could spend the first part of the day. After 2-3pm tide arrives and there is not much space where water doesn’t reach. Highly recommend to visit!
Alex V — Google review
Gorgeous hidden beach. We kayaked in the bay and enjoyed swimming in the calm waters. Plenty of shade.
Abby M — Google review
Very nice small beach. Since it’s not easy to get to it’s not very crowded. We rented beach chairs and an umbrella, and there was a guy selling cocktails and other drinks on the beach. The path down to the beach is rocky and can be muddy and slippery so be sure to bring good footwear. On the trail down close to the beach is a place where they have bathrooms and a shower for a couple of dollars.
Ken H — Google review
Secluded beach in Manuel Antonio, accessible only by car. way much quieter than the main beach. The path down can be a bit challenging and the water is quite rocky so caution is needed.
Halime Y — Google review
Such a beautiful place! It only takes about five minutes to walk down the rocky path to the beach. It wasn't too busy when we went, and we were able to rent chairs and order delicious piña coladas from the bar. They have snorkels, kayaks, and paddle boards able to rent, and there was a woman giving massages under a tent. We also saw lots of monkeys in the trees. The water was very calm and we were lucky to get a beautiful sunny day in the rainy season. Highly recommend if you're looking for a beach that's not too busy but still has amenities!!
Taylor M — Google review
The road there was under construction so it was a bit slow but I’m sure it’ll be done in a few days. You pay parking guards 2,000 to watch your car. We didn’t want to risk it so we paid. I’d recommend good shoes for walking down to the beach (300m - 500m). The trail is a bit muddy and rocky. The beach is smaller and has less big waves but does become smaller in high tide.

Wildlife and safari park
Sukia Park and ZIP LINE Tours offer an immersive experience with the diverse wildlife of the area. The park boasts a variety of animals, ranging from herons to crocodiles, as well as a butterfly garden showcasing all stages of their life cycle. Knowledgeable guides provide insight into the ecosystem and care deeply for the animals and zip lines. Visitors can also explore a black Cayman refuge on foot.
Highly recommend doing the night tour! Our guide was Juan was incredibly knowledgable and really took his time helping us find so many animals including red eyed tree frogs and glass frogs as well as snakes, birds, bats, insects, and more, and helped people get close up photos. Our tour also started off strong with a sloth hanging out at the front of the trails!
Laura K — Google review
Made a last minute plan for this. Only 2 hr zip line available in the area, other options are 4 hr+ because driving time is 1 hr + one way (as told by others, I didnt try those). Pickup was swift. My guide Charlie made me comfortable and guided me throughout the zipline in the 9 lines, 1 rope based activity to get down by waterfall. Charlie also shared good info. about flora and fauna. He was humorous as well and took pics/videos as I ziplined. Thrre were 2 people always with me throughout including Charlie. After the zipline, Charlie gave me tour of butterfly garden and crocodile park. Worth the time and money spent. You should consoder this zipline vs others to save time and money :) P.S.- They provide you free locker to keep your stuff, pics/videos are on them, water is available to drink throughout zipline, fruits given as well.

Phenomenal experience. The guides were an absolute joy to be around. It was great 2 hour zip, which is perfect amount of time. I would highly recommended Sukia Park for zip lining! Pura Vida!

Really nice experience zip lining here!! Staff is super friendly and knowledgeable about the surrounding area. We had the butterfly and crocodile included in our package so we checked it out as well. I personally wouldn’t go out of my way to view those two since it can be done super quickly and didn’t spark my interest. The zip lining was great though!

My boyfriend and I did the night tour with Sebastian. He was a very great and knowledgeable guide and exceeded our expectations for finding wildlife! He did not rush us and always had the answer to our questions. He even offered to take photos for us on our phones and provided light for as long as we needed while we tried to get photos on our camera. The pick up and drop off was also very easy and stress free. Overall very great experience, thank you Sebastian!
Heaven M — Google review
Johann, Charlie, and Juan welcomed us and we had a fabulous time! The zip lines are well cared for and checked daily - we always felt safe and had a great time zipping through the canopy and rappelling down the waterfall. Then we had breakfast in the cafe and watched the butterflies... we walked around and saw all the crocodiles and turtles... we were waiting for our ride and decided to go back to the cafe for a cold drink and we got lucky - we saw a sloth close up during her weekly descent! Amazing! Highly recommend this family friendly tour.
S. J — Google review
This is for sure the perfect place to come if you are visiting Costa Rica. The staff was very nice and interactive. They were all happy to help us if we needed anything and helped with anything we needed. They also gave me and my twin flowers that were beautiful. The zip-lines were very fun and had great views. They also let people go upside down on some of the zip-lines. They also had a great cayman and crocodile exhibit that was very fun to see and experience. Another fun thing was the butterfly exhibit that is absolutely beautiful and amazing to see. There was also a delicious cafe with great cheesecake! Overall this is a perfect place to not only see wildlife but also eat delicious food and go on exhilarating zip lines. I totally recommend this place for anyone who wants a fun ride but still wants to feel relaxed.

The Manuel Antonio Bee Farm offers an engaging and one-of-a-kind adventure worth recommending without hesitation. Communication with Miguel, the owner, was effortless through WhatsApp. He provided clear directions and accommodated our tardiness graciously as we were the only participants on the tour. Upon arrival, Miguel delivered a captivating and educational presentation about his farm's history, emphasizing the significance of bees. His passion and enthusiasm were infectious!
Interesting, fun and unique experience - recommend in a heart beat! Communication with Miguel was via WhatsApp and very easy. He shared directions to the property and was very flexible when we were late (we were the only ones on the tour). Once arrived he quickly launched into a very informative and interactive talk about the history of his farm, bees and their importance. He is very passionate and energetic! Then we got to go visit the bees in full protective gear and learn hands on about the bees - it was so fascinating! Afterwards we had lunch with him and his wife (delicious!) and got to sample and purchase honey. A truly unique experience, would really recommend if you are looking for something different in Costa Rica.
Leah N — Google review
The bee farm tour is one of the best and most informative tours you can do while in the Quepos Manuel Antonio area. Miguel knows so much about bees and honey, it is incredible. Getting to actually see them in their colonies doing what bees do and holding the honey combs was fantastic. I’ve learned more about bees than I ever imagined. After the lesson and beehive excursion, we were treated to an amazing lunch of local foods prepared by his kind wife. And the dogs on the property made my day. One of the best tours I’ve ever participated in

I loved learning about the bees! Miguel was an awesome guide and his wife Oliva made the best home made food we had while in Costa Rica!

Very interesting tour with someone who is extremely enthusiastic and knowledgeable on all things bee related. We found it fascinating. And the honey was delicious. Not to mention an excellent lunch.
Matt N — Google review
We thank Miguel and his wife for the hospitality at their apiary and home today. We learned about the fascinating life and history of bees, hiked 5-10 minutes to the hives, put on our bee keeper suits and visited the bees. The previous day had been rainy so the trail was a bit muddy, but Miguel hosed our shoes off when we returned. We happily enjoyed the Cota Rican lunch his wife prepared (chicken, rice, beans, salad and plantains) and drank two glasses of her fresh lemonade. Carlos and his team were fantastic hosts during our ATV tour! Most of the tour is spent riding around a palm oil plantation. About midway through the trip, the group takes a stop at Rainmaker for a short hike (~1 mile total) with the option to jump a small waterfall. It was a blast! You have the option of riding solo or double, although the ATVs appear to be the same regardless of your choice. One of the hosts, Diego, does a great job capturing photos during the entire trip. You have the option to purchase at the end for a very reasonable price. The purchase includes every photo you’re in which for us was about 60 photos. They are shared with you via Google photos. You end the trip with a traditional Costa Rican meal. It was delicious! Overall, I would highly recommend.

What can I say, this was a 10/10 experience! Well worth the money! They picked us up from our hotel on time, then travelled around 25mins to the place where we ride the quad bikes. We had the tour guide called Oscar who was great fun and really friendly, he gave us a test ride on the quad bikes before hand they are really easy to use! We had a 2 person quad bike which was great fun to be able to have a laugh together on it and share the driving. We drove for around 40mins to a stop off where we were given a snack and water, then walked around 5mins to the waterfall where some people on the trip had a little jump in, then walked back to the bikes after around 25mins maybe. As we were sharing a quad bike we changed who drove back the way back so we both got to have ago, the drive back was a slightly shorter ride but was still a good amount of driving, oscar took us through different kind of terrain, we had ago at driving through water which was a great laugh! Once we arrived back at the start point, we were given a very delicious dinner and ice tea drink, the chicken rice was one of the best rice's I've ever had! - this experience was one of the best things I've done on holiday, I highly recommend this activity!

Oscar and Carlos were our guides. I can’t say enough good things about them. Very friendly and kind. Shared a lot of useful knowledge with us. We had the best time with them riding the Atv through the rain forest and palm farms to the waterfalls. This excursion gives you an authentic experience of Costa Rica. You have an opportunity to see the way the people live and their businesses. We had the most amazing food prepared for us at the end and it was better than anything I’ve tasted at any fancy restaurant. This was an experience I will never forget and recommend to anyone visiting this place. Please come and support this local business. Pura Vida ❤️

Great outdoor tour to do with the family. This atv adventure in Manuel Antonio was our favorite activity, we spent the day in the mountains riding through local small towns and we got to see a different side of Costa Rica. We also saw monkeys and birds. The water temperature is ideal for swimming at the waterfalls. Excellent customer service.

So glad we did this! Literally booked it an hour before they picked us up. Super quick and easy. They drove us 30 mins to the spot, we took the four wheelers into the jungle and to a hiking spot, parked and went on a short hike to see the water falls! Pretty easy hike. After the hike we got fresh fruit and snacks. Then drove the four wheelers back through the jungle to their camp where we could change into dry clothes and they fed us lunch! Highly recommend! Was nice bc there wasn’t too many other people with us, just a family of four and another lady + the guides The views were so pretty and it was fun riding around through the jungle

This was an amazing experience. We took our 9 and 11 year old kids and we all had a blast. They pick you up from your hotel/airbnb and drive you out to a private farm. Safety run through and then off you go as a group. A quick beautiful hike where our guide showed us some plants and animals we saw. Then a really fun muddy ride back foe some lunch. I wish we were able to swim in the waterfall that day but it was too fast to get in. All the staff are friendly and fun. Great e peri ce, highly recommend.

I reached out the day before via email and I got a response within 5 minutes of hitting send. Mom and I never drove ATV’s before but we felt extremely comfortable & safe. We were picked up from our hotel and our driver, Kevin, was also our ATV guide. ASK FOR KEVIN! He was an absolute breath of fresh air, super chill, laid-back. On the tour we rode for roughly 2 and a half hours, on different terrain. The watermelon snack was so fresh & the lunch provided was delicious! Highly recommend :)
