This place is a gem! Portion size are so big. This is both a historical place and a delight for your taste buds. Used to go there when I was little. Over ten years later and the service is still excellent and the food is amazing!!! I have to go back again and again. Love the simplicity and homemade style! Most cost effective restaurant, hands down!

You must eat here if you are visiting Dakar! The food is absolutely delicious, the ambiance is so cool and the portions are sooo large! We could take each portion home and eat another meal. We ordered the maffe with chicken, thiebou dien, and thiebou poulet. Everything was very very good with excellent flavor and seasoning. So far this is the best rice I've tried from thiebou dien. The fish was phenomenal and so well seasoned. Really big piece. Maffe was a nice flavor. Restaurant had a really awesome vibe. The music was like a spa and then at some point it became more festive. People were very nice. This is definitely a place to visit to enjoy the local cuisine.

The perfect taste of authentic Senegalese cuisine. I heard it's famous for the Senegalese national dish called Thieboudienne, and it definitely lived up to the hype - fresh, filling, and delicious. If you also order the Thieboudienne, bear in mind the portion size is pretty huge - I couldn't finish the full portion alone, and would recommend if you come with someone else to split it with a side dish or appetizer.

If you are looking for a place to have authentic Senegalese cuisine - Chez Loutcha would definitely be a restaurant that would leave you with no regrets. I had the Soup Kandia, which is comparable to an okra sauce in other west African countries - and it was incroyable ✨✨ There portion sizes are befitting a person with the largest appetite 😂🤣 I entered starving and left STUFFED & most importantly very satisfied!! It’s a very intimate setting with no frills. I hope to make it back to try another local dish.

Really nice quaint restaurant with delicious meals. The lamb yassa was so good! Street gets busy so parking may be an issue but worth the visit. Meals are huge so also worth sharing

This restaurant has been around since the 1960's, and is a great historic location to get some of the best Senegalese classics. They have maffe, yassa, and cheb. It's a little expensive because you receive a giant plate, and I would recommend splitting it between two people unless you are very hungry. Would also recommend the bissap. The service can be a little slow and hectic when it is peak lunch hours, as it is a popular location, so be patient, and the food is worth it.

Got octopus and it was really good! Beautiful seaside views with surfing on the side! I would not order the plantains though, as they were bananas instead and were not ripe, making them taste bitter and sour. We told the staff about this and they were kind enough to give us fries instead.

It was a very good, although very sandy. We ate at the lower level and it is on the beach, like, really on the beach. You have to set your chair very carefully or you risk falling. But the view is very nice and the food was good. The portions are not big, but neither is the restaurant very expensive. I recommend it!

I did not eat here (I had already eaten that evening) but I did have a few beers and a nice chat with the owner. The place has a very nice vibe and the service is good. If I ever go back to Dakar - and I certainly hope I do - I will definitely go here again to eat as the food did look very good (my rating for food is based on what I saw others enjoy).

This is a very nice place to get away from the noise of the city without having to travel! Although it could really use a touch-up and the attitude would be enhanced by appropriate music, it is a fun place for dinner. I highly recommend coming before sunset and at high tide, which I was lucky enough to do! Watching the surfers was a great way to pass the time while waiting for my order. The food and service are good, albeit not great, but the place is very casual, which makes it more relaxing than other restaurants in the area!

I ❤️ this laid back beachfront Cafe. The food is delicious. The views can't be beat, and the staff is attentive but not pushy. It's one of those places where you can kick back, kick your shoes off, and dig your feet in the sand. It's casual vibe is warm and welcoming. I ate there twice because I enjoyed the food and atmosphere so much.

Went to this little restaurant while on a humanitarian trip to Senegal. I will say the view of the ocean is incredible from this restaurant. I had the beef skewers with fries. Great flavor.

I must commend the gentlemen in the kitchen. They are really putting in a lot of good effort to serve good food. The food was great, the service was ok, and it was good value for money. The chairs, however, are very small and uncomfortable, the table had no space for one to stretch their legs. The sand in the middle makes absolutely no sense to me, it makes the place look unclean. No wonder when people come and they see the lights and set up next door (the jungle), they leave to go there. I think NOFLAYE BEACH has a great spot there, they just have to redesign their setup. This is a new year, so give it a new look.

Very European like vibes. The brunch menu was excellent. Everything we had was good except I didn't like the guacamole which was a little disappointing. Rest all very pretty good. Going early would be great because sometimes waiting can be long. I would recommend visiting at least once. Though a little bit expensive but worth it.

Lovely brunch with a huge variety. The Mac and Cheese lacked taste though and the food could be hotter in temperature but the hot chocolate was delicious and good customer service too. We came on a weekend and didn’t need to wait for a table and service wasn’t too slow. Would definitely recommend!

My absolute fav spot to eat in Dakar! It has such a cozy atmosphere – modern, yet warm and welcoming. The menu selection is fantastic! Everything was beautifully presented and tasted amazing. Also the service deserves special mention- super friendly, attentive, and always with a smile. You immediately feel welcome. I can highly recommend it!

I have eaten countless times at Melo and ought to finally write them a review. It is rare for me to not have a restaurant disappoint in some way at some point in Dakar. This is probably the only place that has delivered 100% of the time, when I ate there. There is a reason why there is a queue up to the stairs on the weekend. It's just my comfort restaurant in Dakar when I lose hope in the other ones. I recommend almost the entire menu, especially the lasagna and the mechoui (so amazing 😍). I like the vietnamese coffee drink the best as well as their smoothies. This is the one spot I have recommended to all friends visiting Dakar, because they are consistent in terms of quality of product, warmth of service and charming cozy environment. So 5 well-deserved stars and please, never change. I beg you !

Absolutely amazing food! Everything was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The presentation was beautiful, and the service matched the quality of the dishes. Easily one of the best dining experiences I’ve had—highly recommend to anyone looking for exceptional food!

This cafe is a short walk to/from the U.S. Embassy, a grocery store and the sea. The cafe is comfortable and intimate. However it does not strike me as a cafe where you could work and study. I didn’t see outlets or tables appropriate for working on a computer or writing. I ordered a snack - a slice of pineapple cake and a cup of cappuccino. The cake was dry. In fact, the texture of the cask was thick like bread. I did not enjoy this item. It cost 2 thousand cifa. I do not recommend the dry (or stale) pineapple cake/bread. The cappuccino was decent. I prefer dark roast coffee with body ody ody, but this coffee was bland and without nuance. Nevertheless it served its purpose by washing down the dry cake/bread. The customer service was relatively good. Meaning the employees seemed to work well together and they were kind to customers. However they should not have served that dry cake. I will neither return nor recommend this venue, but if you are jonsing for a cup of coffee and anything will do, then go to Kotao Coffee.

The portions are generous, and some dishes really offer great value. The burger is my top pick: juicy, flavorful, with delicious homemade chips. The Caesar salad is also great , and the salmon poke was okay but a bit lacking in flavor. The macchiato is always a reliable pick me up and the freshly squeezed orange juice is a great brunch add-on. I did try the American breakfast once and didn’t enjoy it—it felt underwhelming compared to the rest of the menu but it’s not a reason to not come back. Service is prompt, friendly and helpful. The ambiance is gorgeous and the place is very popular which is a great sign! Definitely recommended

Delicious and refreshing smoothie 😍 the entire space is outside but it is well shaded so it doesn’t get too hot. There’s also fans going around so it brings the heat down. Good space to work as well!

Loved the food here. The taste, the presentation, the huge portion sizes. Some meals actually come with drinks so be sure to check before you purchase drinks on the side. The service was also on point and our waiter could speak English as well so made ordering easy. Awesome place to have breakfast and brunch. Highly recommend!

Very beautiful restaurant with unique design and oriental vibe. Staff is very nice and friendly. The food came pretty quickly and it was delicious. The plate looked amazing. I strongly recommend visiting this cafe.

Their “Burger by Kotoa” is better than 90% of burgers in America. In my top five burgers ever. Mostly because it was so unexpectedly good. I always avoid western food when I’m traveling but this was the perfect place to be proven wrong. The accompanying fries with that special sauce the perfect side kick. The only thing as good as the burger was the wifi and the vibes 😏

Took a walk to this coffee and brunch spot and it was totally worth it. The service was great, the staff speaks French, English and Spanish. The food was delicious, healthy and good portion. I had the egg bowl and enjoyed it. The avocado spread was very good to add to the bowl. The salmon was nice and the tomatoes were my favorite part. We also had the energy breakfast. The peanut butter banana toast with chocolate chips was my favorite. The yogurt with granola was also very good. And of course the avocado toast with egg was also delicious. Great outdoor seating space with seashells on the floor. Good wifi speed 8mbps on the outdoor terrace so you might be able to work a bit from here as well. We will definitely be back and I will update this review when we try more items on the menu.

Pretty surprised by all the good comments. The rooms are pretty old with old furniture. The lobby and the halls are dull. Breakfast was not included in the price. I immediately changed the hotel. The staff were welcoming though.

Awesome place, great service and staff.

I had a very positive experience staying here while in Dakar. The rooms are comfortable and clean, the service is kind, and the location can't be beat if you want to stay in Dakar-Plateau. Almost everything in central Dakar is within walking distance. There are lots of taxis nearby if you'd like to visit other parts of the city too. The internet worked great - high speed Wifi that never went down once throughout my stay.

Went there for business trip. For the breakfast in the morning, the waiter will always forget a few items, if you are sitting outside, you have to wait for him to come out to notify him. If he doesn't come out, it's better you get up and notify them inside. Moreover they will always bring a wrong bill. Rooms are okay but when they come to clean, they don't even change the water in the bucket so expect them to mop your room with the last room they cleaned dirty water leaving eventually a bad smell. The cleaning boy will squeeze and rinse the mop with his bare hands in the dirty water and then change your sheets and pillow case with the same hands. The lifts are full of mosquitoes who seem to never actually leave the lift. The air-conditioner filter was dirty and full of dirt and moist. Smiling staffs, they fear complaints and always have an excuse to defend themselves. I spent the rest of my stay not saying anything and let things be. For sure I am never going back! The Location is good as a strategic point of business but there are better hotels within the same area.

Location was on point.. it was in the same vicinity of the Senegalese White House. The staff were courteous, friendly and extremely helpful. I loved the rooms! It was like home away from home. My peeve though was that there was no gym, and no pool.. but i loved that my room had a balcony, I could sit out and relax. Overall, pleasant experience for me!

Hotel was decent, though the facilities were nothing special, as far as we could see. The room we stayed in did not look like those pictured (it looked like it hadn't been updated since the 70s), though it was clean and maintained just fine. It is in a good location though, and the staff were very helpful and professional (and English-friendly).

Fantastic hotel in the vicinity of president house at Dakar. We had a room with kitchen facilities. The rooms were very clean. Staffs were very polite and helpful. However, the security guards are very cautious every time. We enjoyed a marvelous breezy atmosphere every time at the balcony of our room. The restaurant and casino were just awesome.

I came to Chez Fatou hoping to try the thieboudienne, but they didn’t have it that day. I went with the staff’s recommendation of thiof instead—and it was absolutely delicious. Generous portion, the fish was full of flavour and so satisfying I couldn’t finish it. Took the rest home and enjoyed it again the next day! The atmosphere was quiet and peaceful, with soft music playing in the background—perfect for a relaxing dinner by the sea. The service was attentive, and while it’s on the pricier side, the quality of the experience made it feel worth it.

I love Chez Fatou! Best value on the Corniche. I should know, I’ve tried them all. You get a sea view. You get good service. You get good food at a good price.

Nice view on the shore. A part this the food is ok but not spectacular, staff was kind but had to ask the supervisor any simple question (like what kind of wine do you serve by glass) and they didn’t accept credit or debit cards just cash or mobile money

Came here for a dinner with friends, and was really pleased. It wasn’t my first time there, I had celebrated my birthday here this year and I was not disappointed. You can bring your own cake and the staff is nice. The service however is extremely slow despite them never being busy with clients.

Very nice venue with a lot of space between tables. It seems ambiance starts rather late: The place was empty at 9pm but service was good and fast. We enjoyed it.

Still the slowest bar in Dakar, despite having a 360° bar. They give priority to those seated ordering food. You can see all the other patrons standing around trying to lock eyes with the 2 barmen (too few) who ignore you until you need to be rude in order to get their attention. Half the time they are washing glasses rather than making drinks.

Nice place with terrible service. I went with a couple of friends for dinner while heavily pregnant. It took them for ever to take our orders and then to serve. Mine came last and the steak was bloody instead of well cooked which I couldn’t eat given my condition. The steak went back to the kitchen only to come back so hard that it was pointless to eat... So ended it up not eating at all and the chef never bothered to apologise or anything like that.

Before, this resto was good. Now they are going down. Once they forgot to give the change to us, when we asked for it they asked us to check our own pockets. Of course there was nothing coz they were the ones who forgot. We find that kind of attitude very rude. Now they are trying to give more variations of menu without improvement in the taste but on the other side, the portion become less and less.

I wanted to like this place despite the overpriced food, I didn’t care about the prices but when I cut into my chicken I saw that is wasn’t cooked. I didn’t get a chance to speak the server until the end of the meal because he never came back to check on us, so I ate the other items on my plate, but I did not touch the chicken again after I saw that. Then I gave the server the opportunity to do the right thing and correct it and he said it was not possible to change it. I asked to speak with the manager, he said he was the manager. I asked to speak to the cook he said he would get him, then came back and said I could not speak to him. In the end they did nothing and still expected me to pay. Edited to add: after doing nothing about the uncooked chicken they gave me the bill and the chicken, which was 6,500 cfa, was still on there. I argued with them to take it off the bill, they refused. I said I would not pay for it, the server threatened me and said that he would not let me leave. I asked him to call the police several times before I tried to leave, but he refused and then the server physically pushed and assaulted me.

We had a nice time here. I ate some porc 🍖 with honey. It was delicious. The toilets were clean and the decoration was pretty. The staff was nice too. Oh and before I forget, the cocktails 🍹 are good.

Cosy restaurant offering great food, great service at great value for money! There is a restaurant and a bar that's quite popular. Reservation is highly recommended as the restaurant gets really full. The ginger juice is an absolute hit (order by the bottle not by the glass). For starters we ordered the 'nems' aka vietnamese spring rolls and the chicken brochettes which were tasty. Tye main meals were diverse. I highly recommend the grilled whole fish with plantains or the meat platter (too big for one so please share), the pork ribs as well as the Cameroonian traditional staple. The servers were helpful and super friendly. I would come back here anytime I am in Dakar.

Not the best option if you want to get fast food but almost the only one you have if you want to eat after 11pm, usually the time most restaurants in Dakar close. Ali Baba is open until 3 am, and the food is good enough for your midnight cravings. I would not recommend the Shawarmas but I would recommend the Crevettes Sautée à la Sauce à l'Ail (Shrimp Sautéed in Garlic Sauce).

This is a local restaurant that focuses on African and Middle eastern cuisine. The prices are inexpensive. They have a plate of the day for CFA 2500 (5 Euro). Very basic no frills restaurant. Take out is also possible. The service is remarkably fast considering the volume of customers.

I was first time there in 2020 and the place became my hungout. I visited back after three years. Unfortunately the still popular place is not as good and leaves a lot to be desired in food quality, speed of service and even in cleanless.

As it's name says, it's Ali baba den, the food/price for me is correct and a great deal ti grap somthing on the move to eat. fast service for shawerma not more then ~5 min waiting time. it's not the cleanest but I never had problems with there food to be fair

Food was delicious and fresh. We ordered the wings as an appetizer (great choice). For the entree, I ordered the club sandwich. It was very tasty, made with fresh ingredients. Honestly everything was really good, I would visit again if i didn’t live in another country.

La Carre Dakar is a gem for anyone looking to soak in the beauty of the Atlantic while enjoying a relaxed, stylish setting. Sitting on the terrace during sunset is truly magical—the view alone is worth the visit. The atmosphere is vibrant yet serene, with live musicians passing through to entertain guests in a fun and respectful way that adds a lovely rhythm to the evening. We ordered prawns, the fish of the day, baobab juice, and a ginger drink. While the prawns were a bit disappointing—mostly prawn heads rather than tails—and the fries could have been better (the oil had a strong smell), the fish of the day was excellent: fresh, perfectly grilled, and full of flavor. The drinks were a highlight too: the exotic baobab juice was refreshing and unique, and the ginger drink had a great kick and taste. La Carre shines with its ambiance and hospitality. With a few tweaks to the food consistency, it could easily become one of Dakar’s top spots for both locals and visitors.

Hotel staff recommended this spot. I didn't realize it was right on the water but I loved it. The waitress was super kind and patient as I don't speak French. The grilled shrimp was delicious and the dj's music made it a vibe! 💃🏾

Le Carré is a bit tricky to find—you’ll need to head toward Rocca Marina and go behind the football pitches to get there. Once inside, the setting is beautiful: comfy sofas, a sea view, and a perfect spot to watch the surfers off to the left. The hostesses were welcoming, and the space itself is nicely designed. That said, the music was louder than I’d like and didn’t quite match the relaxing coastal vibe—it felt more like a lounge trying to push a shisha bar atmosphere, which clashed with the setting for me. The menu was a bit limited during my visit. I came in hoping for fresh fish, especially being right by the sea, but they didn’t have what I wanted available and suggested meat instead, which wasn’t quite what I was after. Nice spot to chill and have drinks.

Was a bit tricky to find but nice location in general. We were seated directly and didn't wait. That was for the positive side. The music was loud, while ordering our food, the waitress told us that the fish was fresh and it was written grilled on the menu, but once the food arrived we were disappointed. The food was cold, the fish wasn't fresh and the chicken dry. The only good point was the ginger juice. We do not recommend.

There was construction happening - very loud and upsetting me and my guests. I couldn’t even speak when someone was right next to me. I’m not sure why they wanted to fix whatever they were doing while the guest were here but it was way too loud and not relaxing at all. We were with kids and they started to cry from how loud the noise was.

Amazing food!! I got the the Yassa poisson & it was so delicious and filling. I also accompanied it with a Bouye juice & it was so delicious- might be my favorite Senegalese drink. 😍 Music is fireeee- the DJ slayed down. And the views are stunning. They have so much seating available & if you want you can sit by the waves.

La Cabane du Pêcheur is one of those easy, unpolished gems by the sea. It’s a little tucked away near Ngor beach, but once you get there, it’s rustic tables, feet in the sand, waves crashing in the background. Beach tables fill up quickly so arrive early to avoid disappointment. I had the grilled lobster—fresh and cooked beautifully—but it lacked that garlicky, buttery flavour I was craving. The homemade chips, though, were delicious. Choosing your lobster fresh and seeing it weighed before cooking definitely adds to the experience. The place is popular with families, especially on weekends. It’s a lively, communal, vibe full of local energy. Expect a few craft sellers walking around offering handmade goods and there’s some wonderful art to look at next door. Service is friendly and attentive. It’s the spot for a relaxed lunch or sunset moment. Plus, you can catch a boat across to Ngor Island just steps away for 1,000 CFA round trip. The boats leave frequently and the short ride adds to the bliss of the day. Highly recommended

Great place on the beach. Can sit outside on benches on the sand or inside if you want more formal setting. Nice view across to Ngor. Friendly staff, good food - filet of fish very good, fish tartar as well. Prices good, nice selection of rums. It’s a meeting place for people to go surfing and fishing so always something going on, relaxed atmosphere. Try it you’ll not be disappointed!

We're really happy we came here, and we came back again. The food is not cheap but it was very good. There is a nice range of drinks at good prices. Some of the staff were excellent. Outside is a lovely spot by the beach. Do be prepared for lots of vendors trying to sell their wares fairly constantly, but most were very cool. There were also an awful lot of flies inside on the day we ate. Overall, a very relaxed, nice and safe place 👍

Definitely a place worth visiting. We had cray fish here. Absolutely delicious. You choose your own cray fish from their in-house boat. They weigh it for you and cook for you while you wait. You can also go fishing and bring in your catch and they will cook it for you at a fee and add sides for it. The service was good and the atmosphere was excellent. I mean so long as the beach is by your side and withing your view and reach,how can the atmosphere not be perfect.. Quite a gem and place worth visiting in Dakar.

Nice and cozy place with friendly staff (especially Olivier, he is nice and caring and will help you with everything you need) the rooms are nice and equipped with towels and hand soap. I found some small cockroaches but nothing scary. The prices of the food and drinks are similar to Europe, not especially cheap. You can find a supermarket, an atm, and a taxi stop nearby.

Haven’t had the chance to dine in yet, but I do plan to return. The pasta looks amazing. I got a pepperoni pizza to go and it was just how I wanted it. One of the best pizzas I’ve had in Dakar this far. I’ll update after my second visit.

I recently visited this restaurant and was truly impressed, especially by the spaghetti carbonara—it was honestly one of the best I’ve ever had. The prices are reasonable, and the staff is polite and courteous. However, I did notice that the staff could check on guests a bit more often to see if anyone needs anything. The terrace is a nice option, but it can get quite noisy and smoky due to the traffic on the busy street outside. On the other hand, the indoor seating is air-conditioned and very comfortable, making it a pleasant place to enjoy your meal. Overall, I highly recommend this place for its delicious food, fair prices, and friendly atmosphere. Just be aware of the terrace conditions if you prefer to dine outside.

My "parcours" to find the best pizzas and Italian restaurant in Dakar ended up here. I really like the pizzas and their price is affordable ( you can have medium or large ). The staff when I ate there was always enthusiastic, attentive and nice. I often order for delivery and it is always a pleasure as well.

Well... I was a bit slow to find Reine Margherita. It's been there a couple of years. But, better late, than never. And now I am one of the regulars, an ultra you can say. The place is plain and simple, no pretentious glam there. Food: So good. Best pizzas in this town, basta. The pastas also, really made as if you were in some regions of Italy. The ambience is free and loose, the many local Italians always dropping in to this small food station increase this feeling. There are many good reasons why this place is usually packed, sometimes you have to wait or do a takeaway. And those waitresses even adds to the total, which is just incredible. My place, so often.

Great experience at Reina Margarita! Went there for some pizzas and watching soccer. Pizzas were tasty with fresh ingredients. The service is efficient and the owner very friendly. Price slightly high for beverages though (beers) . Highly recommended !

Phare des Mamelles is a restaurant where we enjoyed a delightful meal. The prices are a bit high, but they are understandable given the prime location. The restaurant offers stunning views of the entire city, which adds a unique charm to the dining experience. The staff were friendly and polite, though not always as attentive as one might hope. Sometimes it took a while to get their attention, but overall, they were pleasant and helpful. Getting to the restaurant is an adventure in itself. You can either walk up or take a shuttle bus provided by the restaurant. Once at the top, the panoramic view of the city is breathtaking and worth the journey. The food was well-prepared and delicious, with a variety of options to satisfy different tastes. The ambiance of the restaurant, combined with the view, makes it a special place for a meal. We came here because our guide told us it's a very nice place and a great way to spend an evening. We made reservations in advance and were told that you park at the bottom and take a shuttle to the top. It all worked out fine and they had a band playing which was fun and entertaining. The wine and food were good. We ordered the risotto and a fish dish. The fish was excellent and was accompanied by an onion salad, plantains and a sauce. They all went together really nicely. The risotto was pretty good as well. We enjoyed our time here and it's a nice place to come for a special occasion. I'd recommend getting there a little earlier to watch the sunset. Also, keep in mind that you're also paying for the view and the vibe!

Expensive drive up (5k by person), You can't go by yourself. Food and drinks are expensive and not really good. Our food was burned or overcooked. The view was limited, depending which table you get, but definitely not worth the price. Service not professional for the price. In the end the waiters had problems with our bill. We won't come back. Positive: the music was very good and good vibes. To sum up: to expensive for what you get.

The ambiance is very nice. The music is fun - the staff are friendly. But the service is rather slow. We came for coffee and that was a mistake. We paid 2,000 for a “cappuccino” which was Nescafé poured in a small cup that was half full and topped off with whipped cream.

First the pros: It’s in a Garden outside looks nice, they have a live DJ even though he wasn’t playing anything when we went. Our waiter was also helpful as we don’t speak French so we used a translator. Cons: A few of the meals I wanted they didn’t have like Maafe or jollof as they were out of it. We had chicken and fish, all three chicken dishes were dry no flavor and it was old chicken. Was not made to order. Fries were under cooked, fish was just fish flavorless for the most part. Not one food item was anything to write home about, just food. All around I wouldn’t come here for the food just the ambience. 3/5.

Place is a relaxing sanctuary with a huge tree and many plants. Food was okay/good. Maffe was mainly potatoes and yams. "Cappuccino" was coffee was whipped cream on top. However the service was really not good, slow, disinterested and bored (not unfriendly though). P.s. you go in via the french institute.

Le Cabanon is hands-down my go-to place in Dakar. I come here 3–4 times a week to watch the waves, the surfers, and the sunset—it’s just a beautiful, comfortable and relaxing spot. The food is great—especially the pain perdu (French toast), which is an absolute must-try. Everything is served fresh and with care. The staff are always warm and welcoming, and there’s always someone nearby if you need anything. Compared to other restaurants along the coast, Le Cabanon stands out as the best by far. I also love the little detail of being offered a chocolate at the till when you leave—it’s a sweet, thoughtful touch that wraps up the experience perfectly and always makes me smile. Beautiful ocean facing view. Mesmerizing and enchanting especially if you plan to have an early breakfast or brunch. The staff is well trained and polite. Food was ok we'd brunch. Drinks were mediocre and could improve those for sure. They over charge for a 500 ml water bottle though. Would recommend specially for the great view and vibe.

Really nice location by the sea and the staff were super attentive and friendly! However, if I lived in Dakar this would turn into the spot I’d visit for a couple of drinks instead because it’s super pricey and I’d struggle to see the value if I visited for food. I was shocked the bill came to the same average price as a high end restaurant in London!!

Beautiful outdoor space to enjoy the ocean and delicious food. The drinks and dishes were all well prepared. Though the price is a bit high, the taste was great. Customer service was great. Atmosphere was great. We were also offered handmade chocolate morsels on our way out.

The view is beautiful, especially if you catch the sunset. Interior is also very nice. We ordered muscles. They were is this tomato sauce, not what I’m used to in US. Drinks can be too sweet, but I’ll go for the view again.

The table alongside the sea brings quite good atmosphere. I ordered a sea bream and a beef. The sea bream come with different taste while mix the different source on top, in general is ok. The beef is so so, soft enough but that is it. A bit surprise come from the bowl of “rice”, or maybe cuscus. But the color is differ from the cuscus which I used to, which is yellow. The cheese cake is good also. At last come with ATTAYA, too sweet…

Server was nice but took a long time with everything, manager was arguing with staff visibly of clients, food really did not taste good . I was delivered the wrong dish and an hour lunch turned to 3 due to waiting on kitchen. My bill was given to me but nobody returned to collect payment so I scanned the wave code paid myself and left and no one checked on me. Dissatisfied of this place.

They offer baguette-pizza and it’s the one and only reason I go there! You must try it!the whole system of payment and receiving goods is a bit slow and complicated, but it’s worth visiting and trying their products.

This place has been around for decades and they keep getting better. There's not much to complain about, anything from breakfast to dinner is top quality and the decor/atmosphere is nice. However they need to up their dessert game. Ice creams and milk shakes taste very cheap (while being costly) and are definitely not on par with what is currently offered in most places currently. Breakfasts on the other hand are top notch.

First of all we have waited for 1 hour and 30 minutes for our food and we were served a rotten fish that was smelling all over our table. This was a very bad experience. We ordered 2 chicken and three fish including the rotten one. We ending up leaving this place without eating. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. Please please stay away from this place

Needs a little gentle touch for repairs. The menu is nice but not everything is available. Switch to a smaller one, it has a real impact on perception and it is easier for us as well. Bottom line, we enjoyed the food.

Amazingly fresh seafood meal, literally on the edge of the ocean. Beautiful view. We had the sea urchins which were incredible and worth trying. They take Visa. Walk down the alley towards the water and turn left at the very end. Up a few steps.

This place serves delicious and fresh seafood. We ate a ton of goose barnacles. I tried fresh sea urchin for the first time and they were actually pretty good. We also enjoyed fish and some grilled clams. It was a very fun experience. The place is open and right next to the beach. We arrived right when they were opening and it was pretty quiet - we were here in December 2023. Our server was kind and attentive and we managed to order everything and ask questions despite us not speaking French of Wolof. It's a very fun place and a definitely a place to visit.

Nice ses food maquis. Never experienced one before. Lot of seafood on the menu of course. Price is way more affordable than fancy restaurant. Recipes are simple and straightforward. If you're a sea shell lover go there. It's just next to the sea , in summer you'll get some nice fresh air. Alcoholic drinks are available. Toilets are available. Not that clean but its up to the task. The employees are respectful and helpful. No payments by card. WiFi is even available. Parking are available around. I don't know how it is during peak periods. Place is secure. Nice place to enjoy a moment with friends in a simplest way.

I am so disappointing. About this restaurant. One thing I notice is the lady sitting in the desk are so rude. There's a young lady over there there. There's the old lady over there. They all route ready to argue with the customers. They don't know customer service and the guy who saved me. I asked him if you have butter for my lobster. He told me he didn't have it. And when I walked to the frigerator there was a butter right there. After I'd paid $85 for just lobster.I don't have a good service.The place is dirty.People are rude.I never go back there on my life

Service was a bit off but I think due to Ramadan (we arrived right at 7pm). Calamari Brochette was excellent, monkfish brochette was good. Local oysters were cheap (2,000 F a dozen), to my taste a bit too much iodine in the flavor, but at that price, I might even order again. The star was the grilled thiof (local white snapper) that had the very interesting sauce with a bit of a tang grilled into the skin. Maybe the second best cooked fish I ever had?

Been here multiple times as they serve varieties of sea food. Food is great, but the wait after the order may stretch. You have keep reminding the waiter less they forget your order due to traffic in and out.

Quite expensive for Dakar standards but very tasty and beautiful place

My cruise ship stopped for a day in Dakar Spring 2025 and we were recommended lunch at La Dagorne. The neighbourhood was 'iffy' but the food was absolutely delicious, the service was incredibly attentive. I had (very fresh) fish, my partner the spicy Senegalese chicken - I had a taste - it was the best ever, tender and quite spicy. If you ever go to Dakar (I know, not very likely) the one place to eat!

Went here for a Christmas Eve dinner. Even though the set-plates for Christmas were kind of pricey, the service was great and the restaurant was very well decorated. The food was delicious and they gave us some tomatoes and lox toasts for an appetizer and some Christmas candy for free. Would definitely recommend this place for some great French food and a great atmosphere.

This is a huge market with many different stalls and stores. I've been to several markets and this one was probably the most difficult to manage. I'm used to people following me and asking questions, but after a while they usually let me be. This time I was followed the entire time by two separate men, despite saying I was just looking and wasn't interested. I had two friends with me and the two men even followed us for a while after we left the areas of the market. It was too frustrating of an experience. I'd still recommend checking it out, perhaps I got unlucky.

Commenting on the market including all the surroundings roads and buildings. Every road is for a particular product, for example Rue Abdou Karim Bourgi is for curtains, whereby you can get different types of curtains which can be stiched at your required length and height, and delivered at your place by the next day at latest. So basically you can get absolutely EVERYTHING you can think of there, just you need to know in which road the shops are located. You can google search before arriving there so as to save you time and energy. Also it is recommended to be there around 10am and to leave there by 3pm due to heavy traffic. Parking is almost impossible to find so better go by taxi/Yango etc. For foreigners, if ever you are having difficulty finding a particular product, better enter a shop and ask the employees/shop owners than asking anyone on the road. Because some people will harass you to take you to different shops of their choice and ask you for money. As soon as they approach you better tell them that you don't need them and to leave you alone. Prices are usually not displayed and you will have to bargain for almost everything. So better have an idea about the prices of different things you need so as to have some bargaining powers. The places are usually very crowded and some areas are very dirty.

Just avoid it, worst market experience we’ve ever had. We were harassed by two guys who insisted to guide us and wouldn’t accept a no for an answer. When we firmly stood up to ask them to leave us alone because we just wanted to have a walk by ourselves, they started shouting at us and forced us to exit the market. Unbelievable. Save yourself the horrible experience, there are so many great places in Dakar to enjoy yourself.

If you’re up for a very crowded and big market, this might be your place! I really didn’t like the VERY intrusive sellers, following you for quite a long time.

Great Italian food. High standard Pizza. But I will never order via Dakar Food Delivery again. UPDATE (Delivery) The food tastes very good as always. But Dakar Food Delivery is an absolute nightmare. No matter how precisely you enter the address into the system, the drivers always call speaking completely incomprehensible French and want some explanations that they still don’t understand correctly anyway. They don't even try to use common sense and look up the address on google. It gets you in a murderous rage and makes you lose the desire to order again every time. I will only eat on-site from now on. UPDATE II (Delivery) Thank you. This time the delivery with Dakar Food Delivery went much better. I got a call to confirm the location before the delivery. This made it much smoother. Food was great as always. UPDATE III (Delivery) Unfortunately, today, I had a completely, but really completely, incompetent Dakar-Delivery guy again. Something that a five year old neapolitan boy would do with ease appears to overwhelm some people here. It is really frustrating when you are hungry, looking forward to a delivery and after the sixth call the person is still not able to find your building no matter how clearly you are trying to explain it. I will never order online again with Dakar Food Delivery and will only go there directly. I am extremely mad, it really ruined my day today.

Delicious food and attentive service with the confidence of the owner

Great atmosphere in this family style restaurant, felt transported to the countryside in the south of Italy. The person who took care of our table was very friendly, gave us advice on the menu and took her time with us. The drinks were good, the food was exceptional, freshly made to taste and authentic Italian cuisine. Prices are according to Dakar standards. Paid equivalent of 100 euros for dinner for 3 adults and 4 kids ( drinks and mains- including 4 pizzas and 2 other dishes). We were full and took some food home. We left desert tasting to another time. I highly recommend the place. I will be going back. Only downside we waited a good 35 mins for our food though drinks came fast. Well done to the owner for bringing a piece of Italy to Dakar. Gracie mille.

Formerly confusingly known as The Colorado, this is the place to go for great Italian food in Dakar, and some of the best food in Dakar period. I recommend the gnocchi and tiramisu for dessert. IMO you can get better pizza elsewhere but pretty much all of the pasta dishes are worth trying. Also has great service and atmosphere, plus most of the food is halal.

One of the best restaurants in Dakar. Short menu but very satisfying, great cooking and atmosphere. For dining mainly; alone, with family or friends. I have not gone back since the pandemic but even before the space was sufficient to ensure the distancing.

Very nice dining place for weekend. On Friday they make a giant BBQ with plenty of food (at XOF14500 for Grillade à Volo) and the place is so packed. You better make a reservation on Friday. They cook very well. The menu comprise some local juices and Senegalese dishes that are succulent and very attractive for one who likes to try new things.

Tasty brunch, you won’t be disappointed for the money you’ll pay… it was rich and varied. So far, I prefer their brunch to many others I’ve tried in Dakar. 😋

Disapointed about this restaurant. We took the plat du jour and the food tasted really old. The chicken and potatoes were dry and old. We were the 2nd of January, so we most probably ate the new year's eve leftovers. What a shame, as the expectations were high. The service was good though.

Great experience, food is really tasty! Typical French bistrot cuisine. We had trouble choosing for a wine and the owner was really patient explaining to us the differences between each one of them. We ended up choosing his recommendation and were all unanimously gladly surprised. A good wine starts around 15.000cfa. it's really worth it is not the usual c*** you can find around. A really good experience we are certainly coming back!

An outstanding seafood restaurant right on the water on Ngor island. I had the "Blanquette de Lotte" (aka Monkfish stew) which was one of the standout meals I had in Dakar - very fresh, perfect portion size, and delicious!

The location and view are amazing. The place is not very crowded which is nice. The food is good, but not amazing. I got grilled thiof and my friend ordered gambas. The thiof was cooked perfectly, but wasn’t seasoned as well as other local restaurants. The gambas were a bit dry. However, the staff is quite friendly and accommodating. They didn’t mind my dog laying next to the table. And if you want a dinner with the romance of being on an island, give it a try!

We were stollen in chez seck. We stayed in a room for three nights, we had the key, always locked the room, and one the afternoons, someone entered our room and stole us 150€. The manager said that we should have given him our money the moment we arrived, for him to keep it safe... therefore, it was not their responsability. We didn't argue, because we couldn't prove it, so we asked if we could not pay for the last night, in order to get some of the value back. In a very moody way, they reduced the price of the last night to 2/3. So, it's important to say that they were not helpfull with this situation. For the previous days, they were very friendly.

Delicious Lebanese cuisine in a bright and airy environment with really courteous staff. The delivery service was as great as the indoor dining, and they also have a wonderful pizza menu.

I'm not sure I'll return for a 3rd time, but it's possible. * Went to MyWay on a whim and was thoroughly surprised. I can’t say whether it’s authentic Lebanese, but it was delicious. The Mixed Grill Kabob and the Curry Coconut Shrimp were amazing. One of the best seasoned dishes we’ve had since moving to Dakar. I would recommend and I plan to return.

The food selection is excellent – healthy, tasty, and caters to different dietary preferences. Just a small note: at times, the music from the other room can seep through and be a bit distracting for those trying to focus or join online calls. Otherwise, a fantastic spot and definitely worth visiting!

My husband and I visited for a bite to eat. The atmosphere was bright and beautiful with high ceilings, good music and attentive service. The food was good. Me being a vegan, it would be great to have the choice of oat or almond milk for my coffee. I was able to buy sourdough bread at the bakery and browse through the accessories, books and furniture. Overall, it was a fine experience

Cafe has a menu fused with both traditional and innovative fare. Everything from noodles to roasted fish. Multiple different daily specials are offered. Juices and drinks (non-caffeinated and caffeinated) are excellent. Nice relaxing atmosphere with inside/outside dinning that is somewhat melded into the associated store. Such an awesome hip place in the very cool city that Dakar is. The food is good and is organic. The portions are decent. The price are a little high for Dakar, but in reality they are in line with other cafés of its class. If you are in Dakar for the first time, this café should be at the top of your priority list. You might also enjoy the interior design studio next door.

Customer service is terrible, seems like the waitresses and waiters are purposely ignoring you or avoiding eye contact when you’re trying to get their attention and when you do it’s as if you’re bothering them. There’s two women that work here in particular that always have an attitude, one is always being condescending and the other one barely speaks any French so you can’t even communicate with her and she’s given me wrong information multiple times. One time I spilled my juice by accident and asked for a refill and I feel like any restaurant with decent customer service would give you a complimentary refill but not only did the employee I requested one from never return forcing me to go to the front and ask for another drink, but I was also charged for the second drink which was already pretty overpriced.

Authentic. Friendly staff. Nice, big, clean, no flies. I got the Banh Cuon which is only served Fridays and Saturdays. The chili spice (served separately) was actually very spicy. The fish sauce is the deep salty kind, not sweet and salty kind (in case that's what you're use to/expecting). Overall an authentic dish for sure! (I'm Vietnamese-American and grew up with Southern Vietnamese food.) I would recommend it if you're looking for real Vietnamese food experience. Having grown up with Vietnamese food, I thought my Banh Cuon was very average.

As an American barely getting by on limited French, I was able to get a seat, order and get a 2nd drink here with no issue. Yes, the food took a while but not excessively long and the atmosphere was nice and relaxed. Couple smokers were here so 2nd hand smoke will be around but there are fans to keep you cool and somewhat smoke free 😂. Soccer was being broadcast on a nice big flat screen TV viewable by all. There is communal seating, so as a single guy I was joined by a friendly couple with no issues. No credit cards accepted! The food was good, and I think I like the mutton a little bit better than the pork. Get 500g of each like me to try both. Attieke was fine and alloco was ok too, just wish it was more ripe. All in all, I'm glad I came here.

My first meal in Senegal. The environment is good, you are facing the Atlantic Ocean while sitting there. I ordered a fish, named captain something, and a beer. The fish is cod, fresh, but the cooking is nothing special. But the taste is good because of the sauce. The sauce with fish is with coconut and mango flavor, the source with olives is a bit spicy, both light up the taste.

Food is fine. Service is good. On weekend evenings you might be trapped between loud music coming from other restaurants on both sides of this place.

Big disappointment. The view is beautiful and the place is really cosy, but our Sunday lunch was really bad quality. The potatoes, chicken and meat were cooked the day before, super dry and tasting old. The prices are higher than in other restaurants nearby, and definitely it's not worth it. I won't go back.

It is a beautiful space and the service was great. Our only issue is that it is not very authentic. We have lived in Asia and have had really amazing sushi. The food is yummy though. We wish the sushi had less rice and more fish or other ingredients. It would be nice if the sushi rice had a bit more sushi vinegar as well. But it’s a fun place to go with friends.

Bad Sushi. Terrible customer service! This is what they delivered to me last night when I ordered the O Creation--and they did the same thing before. The first time (a few weeks ago), I thought it was a fluke and that their sushi chef was off for the night or something. But the second time (last night 4 September), I drove to the restaurant to bring back the food and asked for them to remake the order or reimburse me. The manager was very rude and condescending--her attitude took me from slight annoyance to furious. I got my money back and went to Alloo Sushi in Mermoz. Better customer service and Sushi--while in Mermoz, I learned that Alloo Sushi also deliver to Almadies/Ngor!

I've been here a few times, so I believe my review is fair. The food is okay. I love sushi, so I'd say it's average. On this final day, the air conditioner wasn't working, so we had to take our order to go. The staff, specifically the hostess, was horrible. She looked and behaved like she hated her job! I would have fired her on the spot if I were the owner. The price is a bit high for even a sushi restaurant. Case in point, they have regular Arizona iced tea and lemon iced tea in a bottle that they call "green tea" and "lemon tea" that they charge $4 for; RIDICULOUS. This is matched by all the other prices for the food. I can tolerate it because it's Sushi, but still, it's a bit on the pricey side for nothing special.

I recently had the displeasure of paying for and eating the sashimi executive box from O. Wow. I've had better fish from the refrigerator in fuel stations in other parts of the world. Presentation was meh. To top it off, I had to get the box to go, because their closing time is when they turn off the lights. Not last seating or even last service. Which is honestly rather early with regards to the neighborhood, but I would have only dinged them a half star for the closing time. The other three and half stars are gone purely as the fish quality and the cuts themselves were quite terrible.

The menu has good variety. I always order their special black rice sushi. I wish they didn't close between 3 PM and 6 PM, especially on Fridays.

Just pasty. If I had a choice between a little Debbie Swiss roll and this, I’d pick the little Debbie) and 2 enticing mille feuilles. The clerk handed me a big bag, separate box with cake. Really wanted the mille feuilles! Got home, no mille feuilles 😞. To far to go back. The croissants, were pretty good but I think I think the grain D’Or croissants are better. When you order check your bags for all the items.

We live in the neighbourhood and visit often. Their baked things are prepared quite well. Especially things from rhe bakery but their service is obnoxious. If you sit outside on the ground level they don't even come out to get the order or serve you. Even when I go inside they and order things that are ready it takes them forever to bring it out. One time my husband literally had to call their number to remind them that he needs to be served. 🤦🏼‍♀️

A friend and I sat and ate for a while. Our waiter was new. It turned out he forgot to put in my order. When I did get my order it was wrong. Mistakes happen. I would go back again though. The patisserie on the first floor smelled great.

One of my favourite spots to work, due to the location and vue. However, the service here is horrible, for the allure of the place the service in the restaurant is one of the worst in Dakar. There are many waitresses, but they seem more busy with talking to eachother than working. When serving you it seems like they’re almost forced to do so. Just because of the service I come here way less than I would like to, I prefer to go where customers are appreciated. For the boulangerie part the service is ok.

This used to be my ideal location but today the standards were completely dropped on the Caesar Salad. The bowl was too small, burned crutons with over cooked chicken. I had a much better experience at the Kayser in Ville a few days ago. The C. Sallad is much better there. I hope to see better next time...

But I wouldn't recommend you to dine-in because it's quite dark inside (the lighting isn't good at all) and you probably won't be able to see what you're eating well. Just order to-go. Waiting here is inevitable because there's a queue. You'll normally wait around 20 to 30 minutes for 1 to 2 servings.

I’m not usually the type to leave negative feedback, but this experience was disappointing. I ordered a Caesar salad, which was mostly bread and tomato nothing close to a proper Caesar salad. I also ordered the smoked salmon tagliatelle, which was made with canned tomatoes and lacked any real flavor. Unfortunately, it felt like we were only paying for the sea view which, I must admit, is very relaxing and beautiful. The food was delicious, as was the fresh-pressed fruit juice - highly recommended 👌 My only note: the bathroom was smelly and could've been cleaner. I've spent a month in Dakar, wandering as an aimless expat - this was by far the best dining experience I've had. Beautiful, cute, “instagram-able” third floor restaurant along a main road, with a mediocre view of the water. Easy walking distance from the lighthouse and African Renaissance Monument. The first two floors are an art gallery, and it isn’t entirely obvious that you’re supposed to walk up two flights of stairs to the restaurant. On this random Sunday afternoon, just before sunset, I had the place to myself. Table snacks were peanuts in a cute little olde time oil/vinegar jar. I got the cheapest Bordeaux (tannin-y, not acidic; recommended), the grilled beef with onions, and chocolate cake. Couldn't be happier with what they gave me. They seemed to be warming up to turn the place into a dance party later in the night. If I didn't have a job, I'd have stuck around.

A very traditional restaurant with good food, but very hot as no air con, no WiFi (roaming is deadly expensive in Senegal) but they do have live music from 8 to 10PM. I am sure it get's 5 Stars from some that like the style, but it's just too basic for my liking.

I had a really relaxing day at the BOMA Hotel pool! The space is calm and peaceful—perfect if you're looking to unwind. The pool itself is spacious and very well maintained, with plenty of room to swim or just lounge by the water. The atmosphere was serene, and the staff were super welcoming. I also tried the food and was pleasantly surprised—everything was fresh and tasty. Definitely worth it if you're looking for a chill escape in the city. Highly recommend! 🌴☀️🍽️

I’ve been to Boma several times and each time better than the last. Today was no different! The cheese burger is my go to but the vegan mafe is phenomenal. In fact the food and drinks are always amazing and the staff is fantastic. Highly recommend for lunch dinner or drinks if you like nice positive vibes and a pool side atmosphere.

Our stay in Dakar was a delightful experience. The hotel is beautiful. The small little bungalows are private and you feel like you're all by yourself in the middle of a great big city. It is astounding how the noise from the traffic right outside the gate is not heard within the walls of the resort. You walk out and there is a beautiful authentic landscape filled with trees, plants and flowers along carefully laid brick paths that invite you into this beautiful adventure. The front desk is very helpful and helping you arrange taxi service to anywhere you would like to go. They have a lovely pool area and a full restaurant on site so if you just need time to have a quick respite, you're perfectly able just to stay within the resort area and enjoy all that they have to offer.

So far the best restaurant where I have eaten in Dakar! I mean the fillet de boeuf was juicy, tantalising! Just outstanding and the burger was tender to die for! Our waiter Edmo was the kindest, extremely helpful and helped us get some food though the kitchen was closed so my hats off to him for going the extra mile and my compliments to the chef! We will be back and I highly recommend the place! A recommendation for the cocktail try the Agrum Spritz👌❤️

Great hotel with a cozy vibe in Dakar. Great for your first time in the city as it's situated well with lots of bars and restaurants near by. The staff are amazing. Shouts out to Barada, Mariama, Fatima, Muhammed, Edmund, Usman, Teresa and Die (Pronounced Jay) for always being welcoming and having big smiles when they say hello. The rooms are great as well.

Everything is well though of like the use of local produces, the colorful dishes and the relaxing ambiance. It is a must visit in my opinion during a visit in Dakar. My only regret was that I didn't get to visit more during my trip.
