Very European like vibes. The brunch menu was excellent. Everything we had was good except I didn't like the guacamole which was a little disappointing. Rest all very pretty good. Going early would be great because sometimes waiting can be long. I would recommend visiting at least once. Though a little bit expensive but worth it.

We attended this venue on several occasions. On Sunday (brunch), the wait time was the longest. The members of staff were very helpful.

Lovely brunch with a huge variety. The Mac and Cheese lacked taste though and the food could be hotter in temperature but the hot chocolate was delicious and good customer service too. We came on a weekend and didn’t need to wait for a table and service wasn’t too slow. Would definitely recommend!

My absolute fav spot to eat in Dakar! It has such a cozy atmosphere – modern, yet warm and welcoming. The menu selection is fantastic! Everything was beautifully presented and tasted amazing. Also the service deserves special mention- super friendly, attentive, and always with a smile. You immediately feel welcome. I can highly recommend it!

I have eaten countless times at Melo and ought to finally write them a review. It is rare for me to not have a restaurant disappoint in some way at some point in Dakar. This is probably the only place that has delivered 100% of the time, when I ate there. There is a reason why there is a queue up to the stairs on the weekend. It's just my comfort restaurant in Dakar when I lose hope in the other ones. I recommend almost the entire menu, especially the lasagna and the mechoui (so amazing 😍). I like the vietnamese coffee drink the best as well as their smoothies. This is the one spot I have recommended to all friends visiting Dakar, because they are consistent in terms of quality of product, warmth of service and charming cozy environment. So 5 well-deserved stars and please, never change. I beg you !

Had a lovely experience on a sunny Sunday brunch date. I made some changes to my order and the waitress was very kind and attentive. I loved my detox drink! But wasn’t really a fan of the fish and chips. The tiramisu was excellent! Will be back 😍

The food is fresh and the dishes well balanced. However, the fried fish was tasteless. There was no seasoning at all. Salt and pepper was on the table so I added some, but still no taste. This cafe is a short walk to/from the U.S. Embassy, a grocery store and the sea. The cafe is comfortable and intimate. However it does not strike me as a cafe where you could work and study. I didn’t see outlets or tables appropriate for working on a computer or writing. I ordered a snack - a slice of pineapple cake and a cup of cappuccino. The cake was dry. In fact, the texture of the cask was thick like bread. I did not enjoy this item. It cost 2 thousand cifa. I do not recommend the dry (or stale) pineapple cake/bread. The cappuccino was decent. I prefer dark roast coffee with body ody ody, but this coffee was bland and without nuance. Nevertheless it served its purpose by washing down the dry cake/bread. The customer service was relatively good. Meaning the employees seemed to work well together and they were kind to customers. However they should not have served that dry cake. I will neither return nor recommend this venue, but if you are jonsing for a cup of coffee and anything will do, then go to Kotao Coffee.

The portions are generous, and some dishes really offer great value. The burger is my top pick: juicy, flavorful, with delicious homemade chips. The Caesar salad is also great , and the salmon poke was okay but a bit lacking in flavor. The macchiato is always a reliable pick me up and the freshly squeezed orange juice is a great brunch add-on. I did try the American breakfast once and didn’t enjoy it—it felt underwhelming compared to the rest of the menu but it’s not a reason to not come back. Service is prompt, friendly and helpful. The ambiance is gorgeous and the place is very popular which is a great sign! Definitely recommended

Delicious and refreshing smoothie 😍 the entire space is outside but it is well shaded so it doesn’t get too hot. There’s also fans going around so it brings the heat down. Good space to work as well!

Loved the food here. The taste, the presentation, the huge portion sizes. Some meals actually come with drinks so be sure to check before you purchase drinks on the side. The service was also on point and our waiter could speak English as well so made ordering easy. Awesome place to have breakfast and brunch. Highly recommend!

Their “Burger by Kotoa” is better than 90% of burgers in America. In my top five burgers ever. Mostly because it was so unexpectedly good. I always avoid western food when I’m traveling but this was the perfect place to be proven wrong. The accompanying fries with that special sauce the perfect side kick. The only thing as good as the burger was the wifi and the vibes 😏

Took a walk to this coffee and brunch spot and it was totally worth it. The service was great, the staff speaks French, English and Spanish. The food was delicious, healthy and good portion. I had the egg bowl and enjoyed it. The avocado spread was very good to add to the bowl. The salmon was nice and the tomatoes were my favorite part. We also had the energy breakfast. The peanut butter banana toast with chocolate chips was my favorite. The yogurt with granola was also very good. And of course the avocado toast with egg was also delicious. Great outdoor seating space with seashells on the floor. Good wifi speed 8mbps on the outdoor terrace so you might be able to work a bit from here as well. We will definitely be back and I will update this review when we try more items on the menu.

Such a lovely spot! Lulu Cafe has a warm and inviting atmosphere that makes it a great place to relax or catch up with friends. The food selection is excellent – healthy, tasty, and caters to different dietary preferences. I also appreciate that there's a designated area for working or taking meetings, which is a thoughtful touch. Just a small note: at times, the music from the other room can seep through and be a bit distracting for those trying to focus or join online calls. Otherwise, a fantastic spot and definitely worth visiting!

My husband and I visited for a bite to eat. The atmosphere was bright and beautiful with high ceilings, good music and attentive service. The food was good. Me being a vegan, it would be great to have the choice of oat or almond milk for my coffee. I was able to buy sourdough bread at the bakery and browse through the accessories, books and furniture. Cafe has a menu fused with both traditional and innovative fare. Everything from noodles to roasted fish. Multiple different daily specials are offered. Juices and drinks (non-caffeinated and caffeinated) are excellent. Nice relaxing atmosphere with inside/outside dinning that is somewhat melded into the associated store. Such an awesome hip place in the very cool city that Dakar is. The food is good and is organic. The portions are decent. The price are a little high for Dakar, but in reality they are in line with other cafés of its class. If you are in Dakar for the first time, this café should be at the top of your priority list. You might also enjoy the interior design studio next door.

Customer service is terrible, seems like the waitresses and waiters are purposely ignoring you or avoiding eye contact when you’re trying to get their attention and when you do it’s as if you’re bothering them. There’s two women that work here in particular that always have an attitude, one is always being condescending and the other one barely speaks any French so you can’t even communicate with her and she’s given me wrong information multiple times. One time I spilled my juice by accident and asked for a refill and I feel like any restaurant with decent customer service would give you a complimentary refill but not only did the employee I requested one from never return forcing me to go to the front and ask for another drink, but I was also charged for the second drink which was already pretty overpriced.

Very pleasant place. I was hungry and I’m a hurry and I happen to be a vegetarian in Dakar, which is a hassle. They had this lovely individual pizza and I ate outside, it was pleasant.

Service was ok. Picked up an assortment of croissants, beignets, and expensive 24,000 cfa cake, (the cake was a Xmas log roll. The icing was heavy, like paste, not too sweet, but not very flavorful. Just pasty. If I had a choice between a little Debbie Swiss roll and this, I’d pick the little Debbie) and 2 enticing mille feuilles. The clerk handed me a big bag, separate box with cake. Really wanted the mille feuilles! Got home, no mille feuilles 😞. To far to go back. The croissants, were pretty good but I think I think the grain D’Or croissants are better. When you order check your bags for all the items.

We live in the neighbourhood and visit often. Their baked things are prepared quite well. Especially things from rhe bakery but their service is obnoxious. If you sit outside on the ground level they don't even come out to get the order or serve you. Even when I go inside they and order things that are ready it takes them forever to bring it out. One time my husband literally had to call their number to remind them that he needs to be served. 🤦🏼‍♀️

A friend and I sat and ate for a while. Our waiter was new. It turned out he forgot to put in my order. When I did get my order it was wrong. Mistakes happen. I would go back again though. The patisserie on the first floor smelled great.

One of my favourite spots to work, due to the location and vue. However, the service here is horrible, for the allure of the place the service in the restaurant is one of the worst in Dakar. There are many waitresses, but they seem more busy with talking to eachother than working. When serving you it seems like they’re almost forced to do so. Just because of the service I come here way less than I would like to, I prefer to go where customers are appreciated. For the boulangerie part the service is ok.

This used to be my ideal location but today the standards were completely dropped on the Caesar Salad. The bowl was too small, burned crutons with over cooked chicken. I had a much better experience at the Kayser in Ville a few days ago. The C. Sallad is much better there. I hope to see better next time...

Good and pretty boutique hotel with interesting architecture but it ends there. It is perhaps a better experience during the dry season but please don't attempt during the rainy season like I did. There is no rain covering in the building, the rain hits you as soon as you open your room. The corridors are also porous and very slippery. When it rains, breakfast is also a horrible experience because it's an open roof terrace (and they don't seem to consider or have a plan B) so one has climb more set of slippery steps. It was heartbreaking to see another guest with crutches trying to navigate this hotel in the rain. So basically, the only place to shelter is your room... Not practical at all. Their restaurant seems popular. The food was okay but pricey in my view. The guy at the reception was quite helpful trying to soften the frustration and helped me get around. Thanks.

Hotel staff was very friendly and committed to giving the guest a great service. The room was fine, internet connection was not very stable but besides of that I had a pleasant stay. Location in terms of being near to 'main attractions' is fine. Value for money was fine I cannot complain.

This hotel is beautiful, modern and very clean. It’s well situated in Dakar and has great views from the rooftop terrace - which is perfect for having a drink and tapas throughout the day. Would highly recommend for visiting Dakar!

I really love this place. The architecture is beautiful and with real taste of design. I can't talk about room as I never sleep there, but we appreciate the restaurant. With nice view on roof top. You can enjoy your margariita with the sunset over the sea.. and they have bright idea to split the menu as a dish or tapas. I recommend specially with friends or romantic dinner 👌

Pretty surprised by all the good comments. The rooms are pretty old with old furniture. The lobby and the halls are dull. Breakfast was not included in the price. I immediately changed the hotel. The staff were welcoming though.

I had a very positive experience staying here while in Dakar. The rooms are comfortable and clean, the service is kind, and the location can't be beat if you want to stay in Dakar-Plateau. Almost everything in central Dakar is within walking distance. There are lots of taxis nearby if you'd like to visit other parts of the city too. The internet worked great - high speed Wifi that never went down once throughout my stay.

Went there for business trip. For the breakfast in the morning, the waiter will always forget a few items, if you are sitting outside, you have to wait for him to come out to notify him. If he doesn't come out, it's better you get up and notify them inside. Moreover they will always bring a wrong bill. Rooms are okay but when they come to clean, they don't even change the water in the bucket so expect them to mop your room with the last room they cleaned dirty water leaving eventually a bad smell. The cleaning boy will squeeze and rinse the mop with his bare hands in the dirty water and then change your sheets and pillow case with the same hands. The lifts are full of mosquitoes who seem to never actually leave the lift. The air-conditioner filter was dirty and full of dirt and moist. Smiling staffs, they fear complaints and always have an excuse to defend themselves. I spent the rest of my stay not saying anything and let things be. For sure I am never going back! The Location is good as a strategic point of business but there are better hotels within the same area.

Location was on point.. it was in the same vicinity of the Senegalese White House. The staff were courteous, friendly and extremely helpful. I loved the rooms! It was like home away from home. My peeve though was that there was no gym, and no pool.. but i loved that my room had a balcony, I could sit out and relax. Overall, pleasant experience for me!

Hotel was decent, though the facilities were nothing special, as far as we could see. The room we stayed in did not look like those pictured (it looked like it hadn't been updated since the 70s), though it was clean and maintained just fine. Fantastic hotel in the vicinity of president house at Dakar. We had a room with kitchen facilities. The rooms were very clean. Staffs were very polite and helpful. However, the security guards are very cautious every time. We enjoyed a marvelous breezy atmosphere every time at the balcony of our room. The restaurant and casino were just awesome.

Got octopus and it was really good! Beautiful seaside views with surfing on the side! I would not order the plantains though, as they were bananas instead and were not ripe, making them taste bitter and sour. We told the staff about this and they were kind enough to give us fries instead.

It was a very good, although very sandy. We ate at the lower level and it is on the beach, like, really on the beach. You have to set your chair very carefully or you risk falling. But the view is very nice and the food was good. The portions are not big, but neither is the restaurant very expensive. I recommend it!

This is a very nice place to get away from the noise of the city without having to travel! Although it could really use a touch-up and the attitude would be enhanced by appropriate music, it is a fun place for dinner. I highly recommend coming before sunset and at high tide, which I was lucky enough to do! Watching the surfers was a great way to pass the time while waiting for my order. The food and service are good, albeit not great, but the place is very casual, which makes it more relaxing than other restaurants in the area!

It's one of those places where you can kick back, kick your shoes off, and dig your feet in the sand. It's casual vibe is warm and welcoming. Went to this little restaurant while on a humanitarian trip to Senegal. I will say the view of the ocean is incredible from this restaurant. I had the beef skewers with fries. Great flavor.

I must commend the gentlemen in the kitchen. They are really putting in a lot of good effort to serve good food. The food was great, the service was ok, and it was good value for money. The chairs, however, are very small and uncomfortable, the table had no space for one to stretch their legs. The sand in the middle makes absolutely no sense to me, it makes the place look unclean. No wonder when people come and they see the lights and set up next door (the jungle), they leave to go there. I think NOFLAYE BEACH has a great spot there, they just have to redesign their setup. This is a new year, so give it a new look.

It is a cool place to be. The food as far as I have tasted is nice. Their location too is cool because it right beside the road. So it is easy for a quick catch. No long distance walking and so forth. Their staff are friendly and they attend to you as soon as you step in there. Thumbs up to them.

I had a great stay in this Hotel, Great Location and friendly Staff. My room had a balcony with awesome view. I want to say Thank you to Fatou and her team from Housekeeping, the room was very clean and it was always fast and also Aminata and Ali from the Reception for Assisting me. The terenga Beach Club ist also very nice and i will come back next year!

Stayed recently at Pullman Dakar Teranga and had a good overall experience. We were pleasantly surprised with a great upgrade to a suite, which offered a stunning view. The breakfast was varied and tasty, and the pool area provided a nice spot to relax. One downside was the inconsistency regarding the airport transfer. Although the transfer was initially included with the app reservation, this was later denied via email, which caused some inconvenience. On a positive note, the hotel director showed a great attitude and was very supportive throughout the stay. Also, one staff member—possibly named Alex at the entrance—stood out for excellent service and friendliness. All in all, it was a pleasant stay, and these positives outweighed the minor hiccup with the transfer.

My complaint on the service is based on their habit of closing the pool, which is lovely, to hotel guests on the weekend for private events. You pay a premium to stay in this hotel, one of the great features is the pool, then on the weekend pfft.

Gorgeous and relaxing guest house. The owner, Virginie, has such an eye for detail in both the design of the property (incredible artwork from across West Africa) and the service. Her staff are fantastic - warm and welcoming, and extremely helpful. We were two women travellers and always felt safe walking at night in the neighbourhood. We spent four nights and found the place to be extremely clean. We are so happy we stayed in the area - easy to get around by taxi while being in a quiet and 'Zen' place. Breakfast was great. We would stay there every time we come through Dakar.

The pastries are very delicious. Price wise it is expensive but it is worth. For expats and foreigners, this place became a hotspot so probably when you go there, more than half will be foreigners. For me the only problem is that seating is so uncomfortable and tables are very unorganized. You dont really feel comfortable sitting here. Everyone is just crammed in a small seating area.

A great place, if not the best in Dakar, for focus working, learning or just chilling… I’ve experienced teamwork and meetings in two Layu places and it went so smoothly and well that you feel like you are in a company meeting room (but more cozy) or a library. Keep it in mind next time you want some “me time” to work on a project (by yourself or with a team) or just to focus learn. I luv it every single time.

I was wowed to see the set up in Layu cafe. You can just walk in, get a cup of coffee and work from in there. I was more impressed to see so many books inside the cafe, bought one instantly and sat there to read. The space in Layu is just the best. It's has all these nice corners for privacy and it's big!

The food is not bad although it can be abit greasy and pricey but the service is an absolute put-off. I’ve ordered there several times and usually it takes a while, but today I had to call back after 40 minutes and was told my order was out of stock, so I ended up having to delay my lunch by one hour and order elsewhere. I suspect they simply forgot to put in my order and had ran out of food by the time I called to check. It’s a shame the service is so poor for what would be otherwise an acceptable restaurant, although not the healthiest and a bit overpriced.

I absolutely love supporting small ethical business, this is a wonderful coffee shop, open for breakfast from 7am,staff are lovely, food is cooked on the premises with enthusiasm. The cakes are amazing, I love coming here. Air con, as well as eat outside with beautiful ocean front views.

Bad customer service a girl with an Afro and glasses was super rude towards us and would always roll her eyes at us. When we were trying to pick our flavors she did not even give us the time to pick what we really wished for because she was so in a rush even though no one was in the store. For the first time in Dakar I am really disappointed.

Beautiful place for small date. Interior was quite artistic with vintage touch. Drinks were fine , as husband said espresso was quite stronger than expected. Bubble drink was ok more ice than drink I guess. Staffs are well trained and polite. Would recommend as a cute date place.

A high-end coffee shop and restaurant in Dakar Plateau. The atmosphere is great, the decor is breathtaking, well-managed place indeed. I had American brunch/breakfast, portions were generous, very tasty with exquisite presentation... enjoyed it every bit. A bit pricey I would say but with all the positives ... perhaps worth it.

Amazing Coffee shop + great restaurant. The coffee shop part is just fantastic. Literally had 3 different coffees in one day and enjoyed them all. The coffee shop area was quiet and a great place to work from. The lady handling the coffee shop part (Florence I think) was really professional and took her time to explain their offering details... The only lowlight was the dessert. Had a creme brulee which was very average. Overall very positive experience! Edit: Their cheesecakes are also quite nice ☺️

A pleasant cafe specialising in many kind of coffee beans at the same time there's something for everyone. Tea and coffee selections hot or cold stretch from matcha to Vietnamese coffee. Likewise with food, there's pizza, burgers, steak, Vietnamese noodles , pretty much a bit of everything. Has aircon which is a must for me as my baby can't cope with the heat. Simple but tasteful déco, staff are really nice and helpful also. The downside is that like all cafés or restaurants here, there's always something not on the menu because they have got it in, this time no bubble teas or bubble coffees which were on the menu. Flavour wise for food there, well so far I've had a burger and wok beef, they were just okay. The burger bun (I think beetroot bun as it was red) was a bit dry, and the wok beef was a bit chewy, but it was tasty enough. For those with babies, hardly any places will have changing room facility due to space, but this café could actually fit a wall mounted fold away baby changing table quite easily in the ladies'. Which would be a real bonus. The additional thing here is that they have Delonghi coffee machines, kettles, toasters and bean grinder for sale as well as their selections of coffee beans.
