Very European like vibes. The brunch menu was excellent. Everything we had was good except I didn't like the guacamole which was a little disappointing. Rest all very pretty good. Going early would be great because sometimes waiting can be long. I would recommend visiting at least once. Though a little bit expensive but worth it.

We attended this venue on several occasions. On Sunday (brunch), the wait time was the longest. The members of staff were very helpful.

Lovely brunch with a huge variety. The Mac and Cheese lacked taste though and the food could be hotter in temperature but the hot chocolate was delicious and good customer service too. We came on a weekend and didn’t need to wait for a table and service wasn’t too slow. Would definitely recommend!

My absolute fav spot to eat in Dakar! It has such a cozy atmosphere – modern, yet warm and welcoming. The menu selection is fantastic! Everything was beautifully presented and tasted amazing. Also the service deserves special mention- super friendly, attentive, and always with a smile. You immediately feel welcome. I can highly recommend it!

I have eaten countless times at Melo and ought to finally write them a review. It is rare for me to not have a restaurant disappoint in some way at some point in Dakar. This is probably the only place that has delivered 100% of the time, when I ate there. There is a reason why there is a queue up to the stairs on the weekend. It's just my comfort restaurant in Dakar when I lose hope in the other ones. I recommend almost the entire menu, especially the lasagna and the mechoui (so amazing 😍). I like the vietnamese coffee drink the best as well as their smoothies. This is the one spot I have recommended to all friends visiting Dakar, because they are consistent in terms of quality of product, warmth of service and charming cozy environment. So 5 well-deserved stars and please, never change. I beg you !

My go to place whenever I head to Senegal. Seafood is fresh and brilliant flavours. The service is good and all the staff are great. This time I had the lobster. Enjoyed it to the fullest.

I like the "by the beach" location. The waves and the breeze cooling your body as you enjoy a good time. I didn't really enjoy my food but also didn't hate it. Others did though. Service was a bit slow and there weren't many people. The drinks were really good

Pretty surprised by all the good comments. The rooms are pretty old with old furniture. The lobby and the halls are dull. Breakfast was not included in the price. I immediately changed the hotel. The staff were welcoming though.

I had a very positive experience staying here while in Dakar. The rooms are comfortable and clean, the service is kind, and the location can't be beat if you want to stay in Dakar-Plateau. Almost everything in central Dakar is within walking distance. There are lots of taxis nearby if you'd like to visit other parts of the city too. The internet worked great - high speed Wifi that never went down once throughout my stay.

Went there for business trip. For the breakfast in the morning, the waiter will always forget a few items, if you are sitting outside, you have to wait for him to come out to notify him. If he doesn't come out, it's better you get up and notify them inside. Moreover they will always bring a wrong bill. Rooms are okay but when they come to clean, they don't even change the water in the bucket so expect them to mop your room with the last room they cleaned dirty water leaving eventually a bad smell. The cleaning boy will squeeze and rinse the mop with his bare hands in the dirty water and then change your sheets and pillow case with the same hands. The lifts are full of mosquitoes who seem to never actually leave the lift. The air-conditioner filter was dirty and full of dirt and moist. Smiling staffs, they fear complaints and always have an excuse to defend themselves. I spent the rest of my stay not saying anything and let things be. For sure I am never going back! The Location is good as a strategic point of business but there are better hotels within the same area.

Location was on point.. it was in the same vicinity of the Senegalese White House. The staff were courteous, friendly and extremely helpful. I loved the rooms! It was like home away from home. My peeve though was that there was no gym, and no pool.. but i loved that my room had a balcony, I could sit out and relax. Overall, pleasant experience for me!

Hotel was decent, though the facilities were nothing special, as far as we could see. The room we stayed in did not look like those pictured (it looked like it hadn't been updated since the 70s), though it was clean and maintained just fine. It is in a good location though, and the staff were very helpful and professional (and English-friendly).

Fantastic hotel in the vicinity of president house at Dakar. We had a room with kitchen facilities. The rooms were very clean. Staffs were very polite and helpful. However, the security guards are very cautious every time. We enjoyed a marvelous breezy atmosphere every time at the balcony of our room. The restaurant and casino were just awesome.

This cafe is a short walk to/from the U.S. Embassy, a grocery store and the sea. The cafe is comfortable and intimate. However it does not strike me as a cafe where you could work and study. I didn’t see outlets or tables appropriate for working on a computer or writing. I ordered a snack - a slice of pineapple cake and a cup of cappuccino. The cake was dry. In fact, the texture of the cask was thick like bread. I did not enjoy this item. It cost 2 thousand cifa. I do not recommend the dry (or stale) pineapple cake/bread. The cappuccino was decent. I prefer dark roast coffee with body ody ody, but this coffee was bland and without nuance. Nevertheless it served its purpose by washing down the dry cake/bread. The customer service was relatively good. Meaning the employees seemed to work well together and they were kind to customers. However they should not have served that dry cake. I will neither return nor recommend this venue, but if you are jonsing for a cup of coffee and anything will do, then go to Kotao Coffee.

The portions are generous, and some dishes really offer great value. The burger is my top pick: juicy, flavorful, with delicious homemade chips. The Caesar salad is also great , and the salmon poke was okay but a bit lacking in flavor. The macchiato is always a reliable pick me up and the freshly squeezed orange juice is a great brunch add-on. I did try the American breakfast once and didn’t enjoy it—it felt underwhelming compared to the rest of the menu but it’s not a reason to not come back. Service is prompt, friendly and helpful. The ambiance is gorgeous and the place is very popular which is a great sign! Definitely recommended

Delicious and refreshing smoothie 😍 the entire space is outside but it is well shaded so it doesn’t get too hot. There’s also fans going around so it brings the heat down. Good space to work as well!

Loved the food here. The taste, the presentation, the huge portion sizes. Some meals actually come with drinks so be sure to check before you purchase drinks on the side. The service was also on point and our waiter could speak English as well so made ordering easy. Awesome place to have breakfast and brunch. Highly recommend!

Very beautiful restaurant with unique design and oriental vibe. Staff is very nice and friendly. The food came pretty quickly and it was delicious. The plate looked amazing. I strongly recommend visiting this cafe.

Their “Burger by Kotoa” is better than 90% of burgers in America. In my top five burgers ever. Mostly because it was so unexpectedly good. I always avoid western food when I’m traveling but this was the perfect place to be proven wrong. The accompanying fries with that special sauce the perfect side kick. The only thing as good as the burger was the wifi and the vibes 😏

Took a walk to this coffee and brunch spot and it was totally worth it. The service was great, the staff speaks French, English and Spanish. The food was delicious, healthy and good portion. I had the egg bowl and enjoyed it. The avocado spread was very good to add to the bowl. The salmon was nice and the tomatoes were my favorite part. We also had the energy breakfast. The peanut butter banana toast with chocolate chips was my favorite. The yogurt with granola was also very good. And of course the avocado toast with egg was also delicious. Great outdoor seating space with seashells on the floor. Good wifi speed 8mbps on the outdoor terrace so you might be able to work a bit from here as well. We will definitely be back and I will update this review when we try more items on the menu.

I opted for the prawns sautéed with garlic, and they were fresh and flavourful. The ambiance was lovely with pleasant music. Servers were knowledgeable and food arrived promptly. However, service was somewhat inattentive to our requests. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant.

This is always one of my most favourite restaurant is Dakar and i am never disappointed every time I visited them. In fact I always make sure that go by for my dish my Paella the best in Town. Make a turn and you will definitely thank me

Classic European fare. Seems like it gets busy around 9pm. Live music after 9. Friendly staff. A bit disorganized. Slow with the drinks. Tried to order a Gazelle. Waitress kept saying no gazelle. Then there was gazelle. She got me dizzy. They had Moscow mules, copper cup and all. The margarita was watered down. Finally got the Gazelle! Ordered steaks, pork dibi, some appetizers. They got an appetizer wrong. Wouldn’t give us the one we actually ordered. Took it away and brought it back. Said that was what the order was. The waiter wrote the right one down, chicken tenders with BBQ, on his scrap of paper that he left on the table, but then when we got the bill they switched the appetizer on the final bill and charged us a bit more. We order tenders. Not a salad. Kind of sneaky. Most of us ordered the steaks in pepper sauce, rare. We got them rare to well done. Even though each steak was supposed to be 220gr. They were all different. One was clearly over, like 300. They were good, tender etc. The pork sucked. It was dry, chewy, tasted too much like cumin. Two bites and done. Cheesecake for dessert. They said they made them there, they were good but clearly frozen and defrosted. The coffee was good. All things considered the staff was not terribly attentive. The owner did the required rounds. We told the waiter that one steak was overdone. He said next time to ask them to change it. As they wouldn’t do that with the wrong appetizer ( we order chicken tenders and got a chicken salad, it was clearly wrong, waiter even lied about, told me the vinaigrette was a BBQ sauce, and that the chicken fingers was actually a salad) I don’t think they would have given us a new steak. Bathrooms were super clean, except my wife did see a mouse scurry around the toilet and out the door. It’s a coin toss if we go back.

We had the pleasure to have Sunday lunch at the restaurant of La pointe des Almadies. The place is amazing, it has a pool and a dj playing chillout music. The appetizers are very tasty and their paella is the best in the whole region. The owners are super friendly. Highly recommended.

The seafood was not bad. The place was very empty for a friday night. Live music, drink and assortment of plates from italian to lebanonese, local food and sea food. For me it was the first restaurant in dakar with Vietnamese cuisine. I cant complain about the service , excellent. Prices are average.

Server was nice but took a long time with everything, manager was arguing with staff visibly of clients, food really did not taste good . I was delivered the wrong dish and an hour lunch turned to 3 due to waiting on kitchen. My bill was given to me but nobody returned to collect payment so I scanned the wave code paid myself and left and no one checked on me. Dissatisfied of this place.

They offer baguette-pizza and it’s the one and only reason I go there! You must try it!the whole system of payment and receiving goods is a bit slow and complicated, but it’s worth visiting and trying their products.

This place has been around for decades and they keep getting better. There's not much to complain about, anything from breakfast to dinner is top quality and the decor/atmosphere is nice. However they need to up their dessert game. Ice creams and milk shakes taste very cheap (while being costly) and are definitely not on par with what is currently offered in most places currently. Breakfasts on the other hand are top notch.

Wide variety of ice cream and yogurt flavors to choose from. Be sure to have a taste before your purchase. For us some tasted too artificial but overall others were good. The staff is friendly and helpful. Do visit if you have a chance .

It's a good ice cream parlor with many varieties and options to choose from. The place looks child-like and attractive after the renovation which adds to the ambience.

Love the chocolat noir and pistache combo. It's just a really chill spot. They speak English if you don’t speak French. There are so many delicious options. I strongly recommend going here when in Dakar.

Not sure why this place doesn’t have better reviews. The AC is always blasting inside, the ice cream is delicious and staff are very patient with English speakers. I came here several times during my month long stay in Dakar. Highly recommend for delicious frozen treats.

I'm giving four stars because there are not many other choices, so this is a four star bakery with a restaurant. The restaurant service upstairs had very attentive wait staff and some good food. They were even able to make a passable chocolate milkshake. Our group of 22 people was a challenge, but they handled it. The downstairs boulangerie was also good. We took some croissants with us. You should be aware that the bakery is often busy, because this is a popular spot in Dakar. Much of the French influence remains in the city, and there is still a discomfort with the former status of being a colony. This is ironic, because you only have to drive a few miles out of town to see what this country would be like if the French had not colonized it. It is an old debate, but it is worth noting that people are still thinking about it, generations after the 1960 independence. If you are planning on staying, you are probably well advised to learn some Wolof.

As a tourist, this appears to be the most popular cafe in the city. It’s almost as if one has transported to France. Amazing pastry variety. Decent menu. Very clean and good atmosphere. Pleasant and efficient staff. I expected the prices to be much higher than they actually were. Definitely check it out for an upper-class experience.

A branch of the famous French bakery chain. One of the decent options in downtown. Make sure you have Google translate with you if you dont speak French since the staff does not speak any English. The pastries are very delicious. Price wise it is expensive but it is worth. For expats and foreigners, this place became a hotspot so probably when you go there, more than half will be foreigners. For me the only problem is that seating is so uncomfortable and tables are very unorganized. You dont really feel comfortable sitting here. Everyone is just crammed in a small seating area.

It is the Dakar branch of a French 'artisinal' bakery. The baguettes are very good and come in a wide variety. The sweets are also nice but rather overpriced (even compared to France!!!). Coffee is also served, as well as hamburger and a variety of Sandwiches. There are a plenty of staff there, but how well they attend to you seems to be a matter of luck.

Disapointed about this restaurant. We took the plat du jour and the food tasted really old. The chicken and potatoes were dry and old. We were the 2nd of January, so we most probably ate the new year's eve leftovers. What a shame, as the expectations were high. The service was good though.

I ordered the calamari twice within a span of 4 days, tasted quite different the 2nd time around, notnsure what that was about lol. Still a cool place, location is a bit unpleasent by the market but still a nice place to go.

Great experience, food is really tasty! Typical French bistrot cuisine. We had trouble choosing for a wine and the owner was really patient explaining to us the differences between each one of them. We ended up choosing his recommendation and were all unanimously gladly surprised. A good wine starts around 15.000cfa. it's really worth it is not the usual c*** you can find around. A really good experience we are certainly coming back!

Aux Fins Palais is a good restaurant with appetizing desserts! But Chocolate Sarayi tends to overshadow it because it is situated right next to Aux Fins Palais. I recommend the Pizza Poulet and the Crêpe au Sucre.

The reason it’s 2 out of 5 stars is because unfortunately one of our cakes had a long black hair in it but that was not the only reason when we kindly told them they took it away not offering us anything else we had only really taken one bite leaving the whole cake left. But when the bill came it was on it full price. I’m sad that this happened for everything else was so good but the way they handled it was not very professional. Would not go back

A diamond in the rough! And believe me, there's a lot of rough in Dakar. This small café offers light meals that are tasty and well-balanced. Desserts are always a must! Service is good but timeliness needs to be a bit better. Parking is reasonably good, which is another plus, in comparison to many of the congested streets. The restaurant itself is new, modern, clean, and in some ways offers a respite from the hustle of the city. Definitely worth one visit or more.....!

Simone Café was absolutely fantastic. Authentic flavors and great extra touches make it an excellent place for a snack or light lunch. Everything we had was amazing. I highly recommend the Coxinhas, the Pastel, and the Brigadeiros. Como with the Brazilian style coffee it just can't be beat.

If you are the type that is prone to frequent dessert cravings, Simone Cafe is certainly going to be your next favourite spot. This jewel in Mermoz is tucked away right off the main route, such that its' garden and patio are shielded from the noise of Dakar traffic. This Brazilian and American owned Cafe boasts some of the best cheesecakes and tarts in the city, as well as a rotating selection of daily cakes. The quiche Lorraine is definitely worth a taste, as is the thick drinking chocolate!

This place is so popular. We kept driving by it and there was a line out of the door. Decided to stop in one day to see what the line was about and was pleasantly surprised to find a very French styled bakery. The pastry selection was abundant and had good takeaway options. I enjoyed a simple croissant with a coffee that was pretty decent. Only thing — the staff was so eager to clear the line that they were unpleasant.

I looooove this place! The selection of deserts is divine and the service is impeccable. Warm, friendly, and inclusive toward a diverse clientele. Management really gets it here. Ask for Louise, Soukeyna, or Mohammed (if you speak English 😀). Can’t say enough good things.

Xocco Gelato Lab has been one of the best parts of Sea Plaza for me, their ambience was already great but has become better after the renovation. Their gelatos and crêpes are really tasty. The terrace's seating arrangement adds to the ambience of the café. I recommend the Straciatella gelato and the crêpe au Chocolat.

I've been in here 2 or 3 times now and my last visit I wanted a smoothie. Smoothies are not their strong point. Not enough selection of fruit, mango is in season right now and they didn't have mangoes. The nice guy suggested he can add mango sorbet or any other sorbet as I want which sounded nice. The flavour wasn't bad but I was disappointed with the size when it came out! (See picture) It was 5000cfa (€7.50!) and definitely needed to be in a slightly bigger cup! I also had basic crêpe with sugar but it came out with butter and sugar in it. That's a first for me, it didn't taste nice even though the crêpe itself was nicely made. I'd go again because it's really the only cafe in Sea Plaza and generally not bad, but definitely won't be tempted by the smoothie (unless they improve it!) and if ordering crepes, ask to leave out the butter. Please improve your smoothies!!!!

The slowest service ever. 20 minutes between giving the menu and taking my order (and they weren't busy at all), then another 30 for my sandwich and drink to arrive. Get a comfortable seat and plan to stay awhile if you come. And bring a snack if you're very hungry!

Nice calm place on first floor of sea plaza. You can enjoy, fresh juice or a bite anytime of the day. Their ice cream is good. You can sit outside, 2 or 3 tables. Good place to have break from shopping !

I ordered a pizza, crepe and ice cream. The lady who took my order was very nice and had great customer service skills. Unfortunately, the delivery guy decided to deliver my food last (after fulfilling other commitments) and the ice cream melted completely. Although I live across the street, I could not give any directions to the delivery person so I had my neighbor direct him. For that the delivery guy decided to charge me an extra 500 CFA! And he never gave me my bill as he added that extra 500 and did not want me to notice it. I was going to give him more as a tip however since he decided to add more money to the delivery….its his loss. Food was ok. It was cold due the late delivery. It’s unfortunate as I ended up not eating the pizza nor the crepes. I am giving 2 stars as it was not a good experience although the lady at the restaurant deserves a 5 star for her service, the food and delivery ruined the experience. Friendly staff who tried hard to understand my bad French. Wonderful ice cream and good cafe au lait. Busy but not too noisy.

Best Gelato EVER! Better Than Italy!!!!!! Yes, you read that right. Better than Italy! If you love chocolate and hazelnut, this place is nirvana. The flavors are so rich and always have delicious bonus ingredients mixed in—and not sparingly either!—to give ever flavor so much taste and texture. Also has a wide selection of teas, waffles, and other stuff. Staff pretty friendly too. Good place to work during the day, and it’s open late for all your nighttime cravings ;)

Visited the one closer to Mermoz (I believe they have two locations). Great variety of delicious ice cream. They also have sorbets and yogurts. Their coffee selection seems large as well, although I've never had one while visiting. Clean and spacious with polite staff.

What an amazing place!!! This is the place to go if you're lookong for great ice creams. The personnel that work there are fantastic. Kuddos to Natty and Rosy the cashier (hope i got her name right). Thanks for the excellent service.

Bad customer service a girl with an Afro and glasses was super rude towards us and would always roll her eyes at us. When we were trying to pick our flavors she did not even give us the time to pick what we really wished for because she was so in a rush even though no one was in the store. For the first time in Dakar I am really disappointed.

Customer service is outrageous. The lady with the afro was super rude, and impatient. My milkshake tasted like straight up milk, and when I asked if I could switch to something else, they said I’d need to pay for add on fees…It gave me a stomachache. I will absolutely not return. 0/10
